Mimic IV
McFoord x Toddler!Reader
Summary: You're a little menace with Katie
"So," Caitlin asks as she relaxes back on the bed," How is my sweet baby doing?"
Katie looks away from her phone screen to see you seated in the ensuite bathroom, shaking your water bottle over the toilet paper that you've completely unwound.
"Er...she's...She's alright."
"She's being good? Nice?"
Katie can distinctly remember you throwing your breakfast at her this morning and then screeching in her face when she tried to tell you off.
"Yeah," She lies," So good and so nice."
"And she's making sure that she's including everyone in her playing?"
Katie winces when she remembers that you'd started pushing Courtney away any time that she tried to join in on the game of tag that had been arranged for you after training.
"She's...working on it?"
You're absolutely not working on it but Katie isn't about to admit that.
"Can I talk to her?"
"Yeah, one sec." Katie mutes her phone, placing it down on her blankets as she moves to grab you. "Hey, you. Come over here."
You stare blankly at her from your spot in the middle of the bathroom. The toilet paper is all strewn around you, practically wet mulch after you've emptied the contents of your water bottle onto it.
"Come on, you little gremlin. Come here."
You bum shuffle back into your pile of paper mulch and Katie winces a little, knowing that she's now going to have to change you into a different pair of pyjamas before putting you down to sleep.
"Come on. Come here."
Katie's arms are stretched outwards to you, trying to draw you closer by wiggling her fingers.
"Come on."
You pull a face at her, features all twisted up in disgust as you look at her and you grab a handful of mulch to throw. It doesn't get very far and lands with a kind of undignified squelch on the floor between the both of you.
Katie rolls her eyes. "I...You know what? Never mind."
She sweeps you up into her arms again before you can throw something at her again.
"We're going to have a talk with Mummy, alright?"
Your face noticeably changes at the mention of Caitlin, a wide gummy smile appearing on your face as you kick your legs happily. You manage to get even happier when you see Caitlin on the screen, trying to reach out for her and press kisses onto Katie's phone.
"What is it with you, huh?" Katie teases you that evening as she tucks you into your bed," Complete menace for me but Caitlin's little angel? I don't know who you think you're fooling. She already knows what you're like."
It's a bit like when you turn into a complete little angel when the rest of the family are around too. At home, you continue with your menace behaviours like chasing the cats or pushing things off countertops or digging holes in the garden for someone to accidentally trip over. But as soon as someone who doesn't usually visits, comes around it's like you're trying to show them that you're really a little sweetheart who doesn't have a mean bone in your body.
It makes Katie look particularly silly to her parents when she's complained to them about you dropping your toys into the toilet to cause a blockage but then they come around and all you seem to want is affection from them - no hint of your snapping teeth or angry little limbs.
The change in the behaviour only seems to be with family though because you have no issue with being your usual menace self with the girls on the team.
Something that Katie is acutely aware of as she watches you try to tackle Denise, trying to force her to the ground with all of your toddler strength.
"You can just tell her to stop!" Katie calls over," Or put her back on the leash!"
"It's fine!" Denise says, standing firm even as you try to shoulder barge her to the ground," It's kind of like a kitten trying to fight."
"Not a kitten!" You deny," I...I big an' scary!"
"So big and scary," Denise laughs as she pats your head," Like a little baby wildcat."
You frown as you try to work out if that's Denise calling you a kitten again just in a different way but in the end, you can't be bothered to think about it anymore as you try to push her over even harder than before.
"You might end up with bruises," Katie warns her," Just put her on the leash. I promise, it won't hurt her feelings."
"I'm fine, really." Denise waves away her concerns. "This little one isn't causing any problems."
"Are you sure?" A distinctly not-Irish says from behind Katie," Because she's got a way of starting problems before you know it."
Katie didn't even get the chance to turn away before you'd announced the newcomer.
"Mummy! Mummy! Mummy, I miss you!"
You abandon whatever you were trying to do with Denise to go toddling straight over to Caitlin, who kneels down with her arms out to welcome you.
"Mummy! Mummy!"
"Well hi there, sweet girl," Caitlin coos as you throw yourself into her arms," You're being very cuddly right now."
"Miss you, Mummy!" You reply, curling deeper into her arms and resting your head on her shoulder.
"You're early," Katie says with a warm smile," I thought you said you would barely make it to the match."
"I managed to get an earlier flight," Caitlin replies as she drops a soft kiss to your hair," I missed my girls."

That's a lot of blood | Arsenal WFC x Reader
5k celebration prompt: "That's a lot of blood."
Woso masterlist | Words: 1k
-----
The match was intense, the kind where every step, tackle, and shot felt like it could make or break the game. The crowd roared in the background, but you barely heard it, your focus narrowed to the field in front of you.
The opposition broke through your teamâs line of defense, the ball sailing over the top. A one-on-one with the keeper was the last thing you wanted in a game like this. You pushed yourself to sprint back, muscles burning, and made the only choice you could: throw your body down for a tackle.
Your timing was perfect. The ball ricocheted off your foot and away from danger. But the striker tripped over you, her cleat catching your thigh as she fell. It all happened so fast that you didnât process it until the sharp pain hit, like a knife slicing through your leg.
âJesus.â Katieâs voice broke through your haze as she ran to your side. She dropped to her knees, her hands instantly on your shoulders as you tried to sit up. âStay down.â Her tone was softer than you were used to from her on the pitch. âTrust me, that is not something you want to see.â
Your brows furrowed in confusion. âWhat do you mean?â The panic very present in your voice. Before Katie could answer, Manuâs voice piped up from behind you. âThatâs a lot of blood.â
Your eyes widened, and your stomach churned. Blood? That wasnât a good sign. âNice going, now sheâs scared.â Katie snapped, glaring at the goalkeeper. It was well known within the team that you didnât handle blood well. Let alone your own blood covering your thigh.
âRight, sorry!â Manu kneeled down beside you. âItâs not that bad. Really.â You shot her a look, âYou canât say that right after you say there is a lot of blood. Those two do not work together!âÂ
Katie chuckled at your comment, but quickly gathered herself to be there for you. Everything seemed to move in slow motion, the seconds dragging on as you lay there waiting for the medics to arrive.
The pain in your leg throbbed, and you felt the warm fluid in your leg. Your shorts sticking to your leg even more than before.
Then curiosity got the better of you, and you glanced down. A mistake. âOh god.â Your face turned pale as you saw how much blood was covering your leg. You couldnât even see the wound anymore.Â
A wave of nausea washed over you. Lotte, who had been hovering nearby, quickly knelt by your side. She gently pushed your shoulders back to the ground. âHey, donât look at that. Youâre going to be okay. Itâs not as bad as it seems. Just focus on me, alright?âÂ
Her calm demeanor steadied you slightly, though your breathing was still shallow. The medics finally arrived, gauze and gloves in hand. You flinched as they applied pressure to the wound, the sting making tears spring to your eyes.
âJust breathe,â Lotte said, her voice soothing as she wiped dirt and grass from your face. âIn through your nose, out through your mouth. Youâve got this.â
Katie took your hand in hers, squeezing it tightly. âDonât make me show you how to breathe,â she teased, a playful glint in her eye despite the situation.
Her joke makes you chuckle. âSee, youâre doing just fine.â
One of the medics looked up after inspecting your leg. âGood news, itâs not too deep. Youâll just need a few stitches.â
You sighed in relief, though the idea of stitches made your stomach twist. âA few stitches isnât so bad.â You said out loud, trying to convince yourself.
Katieâs smirk appeared again. âYeah, and chicks dig scars. Youâll find a girlfriend in no time now.â With a roll of your eyes you tell her that sheâs awful. âIf Iâm awful, then why are you still holding my hand?â You stared at her deadpan. âAnnoying too.â
Lotte shook her head at the two of you, a small smile on her lips. âYouâre impossible, both of you.â
The medics wrapped your leg and helped you to your feet, with Katie and Lotte supporting you on either side. The trip to the tunnel was a blur, and before you knew it, you were sitting in the medical room with a couple stitches, a fresh bandage and crutches.
When you finally hobbled out to the bench, the game was nearing its end. The team checked on you, their faces a mix of concern and relief. You assured them you were fine, and that they could stop worrying about you.
The final whistle blew, and you looked up just in time to see Leah running your way with a grin on her face. âScored that goal for you.â The team on the bench had informed you that Leah had scored off a corner just before you had made your way back.
You shook your head with a chuckle. âYou so didnât.â
She wrapped her arm around your shoulder. âOkay, maybe not.â She admitted, âBut I am dedicating it to you. End of story.â
It didnât take you long to get used to the crutches, so you joined the team on your round around the stadium, taking pictures with fans and signing their jerseyâs and signs.Â
You noticed that no matter where you went, one of the girls was keeping an eye on you. While you appreciated their support, you were not looking forward to being babysat for the next few weeks while your leg was healing.

Handcuffs
âAlessiaaaa, we have a problem" you giggled into the phone
"What have you two done now?" Alessia asked amused at your drunken state
"I handcuffed her to me! I didn't want her to leave" Kyra whined "and now she can't" she continued happily as you glared at her while holding up your hands for her to see over video
"Where is the key?" Alessia asked
"Dunno" Kyra said
"Don't do anything more stupid. I'm on the way" Alessia said hanging up
You and Kyra shared a matching grins as you looked at each together, "More wine" you cheered as you poured more into the glasses. Laughing and talking as you guys waited for Alessia to show up.
A knock on the door pulled you two from the conversation you guys were having.
âAlessiaâ Kyra cheered
"I don't want to move" you whined as you laid on the floor
"Open the door" Alessia yelled as she banged on the door
Kyra looking at you before shurgging and then dragging you behind her. "Ow" you yelled as you were dragged on your back, the handcuffs digging into your skin.
âAlessiaâ Kyra cheered as she opened the door
"Steph, Caitlin, Katie, Leah, what are you doing here?" you asked looking up at them from the floor before looking back at Kyra, "I thought you only called Alessia?" you asked with a frown with having the adults involved
"I did!" Kyra exclaimmed also looking confused at the other females
"I knew I would need help with you too" Alessia laughed at you laying in the ground.
"Where's the key?" Leah demanded
"I don't know" Kyra said
âThere hersâ you said pointing at Kyra
âWhy are you on the ground?â Katie asked with an amused smile as she looked down at you
âComfyâ you drunkly smiled before pouting as you looked at your bruised wrist hanging the air
âWhat happened to your wrist?â Caitlin asked gently grabbing hand to get a closer look
âKyra dragged me hereâ you said
âWell letâs get you up so she doesnât do that againâ Katie said pulling you up to your feet and steading you as you swayed with a drunk smile that match Kyraâs
âLetâs head insideâ Steph said guiding everyone inside Kyra apartment
You and Kyra heading right to your unfinished glasses of wine and taking a drink
"I can't with you too" Steph said pinching her nose
âWhatâd we do?â Kyra asked turning to face Steph, causing you to go stumbling
"Don't spill!" Steph exclaimed before taking the wine glasses from you two
âWhy donât you guys sit here?â Leah said guiding you two to the couch
"Why didn't you buy the soft fuzzy one?" You asked Kyra as Caitlin placed an ice pack on your bruised wrist. You trying to push it for her to hold there and give you a look of donât touch
"No! I don't want to know why she has them!" Steph exclaimed as Kyra just laughed
"Kinky" you said with a mischievous smile as Leah slapped you on the head and Katie laughed but quickly stopped at the look Caitlin gave her
âWhat are you two doing?â Caitlin asked Katie and Alessia
âLooking at videos of how to pick a lock on handcuffsâ Alessia said as Katie went looking for things she needed to pick the lock
âNo, I donât want her to leaveâ Kyra said pulling you into her as you rest your hand on her shoulder
âWell we donât want you two handcuffed togetherâ Steph said as Katie appeared with what she needed to pick a lock and began messing with it
âOwâ you complained as you felt Katie working to unlocked it and it constantly moving against your new bruise
âSorryâ Katie said as Kyra just pulled you closer to you
"I've got it!" Katie cheered as the chain fell off both of your wrist
"But I don't want her to leave" Kyra whined
"Well we can't trust you two alone" Leah said, annoyance clear on her face
"Come on, your staying with Caitlin and me tonight" Katie said wrapping her arm around you to guide you out
"And I'm staying with you" Steph said to Kyra
"I've got to grab my bag!"
"Your bag?" Caitlin asked confused
"Yeah! I was supposed to sleep here!" You said excitedly but then frowned "but now I'm not"
"You handcuffed her even thought she was spending the night?" Leah asked with disbelief at Kyra
"I had to make sure she didn't leave" Kyra defended herself
"Say bye" Katie laughed as she guided you out the door, Caitlin grabbed your bag

LIFESAVER - leah williamson
leah williamson x child!reader | based on this request!
leah sighed as she awoke to the sound of your cries ringing through the baby monitor for what felt like the tenth time that night, wincing even more when she checked the time - it of course being only five minutes before her alarm was due to go off, only her luck.
you were usually a pretty good sleeper, and rarely cried in general, never mind throughout the night - so she had known almost instantly the first time you had awoken that you were feeling under the weather, and her worries had only proven right as the night had gone on and your state had worsened.
and again, as if it was part of a well planned routine, your cries only intensified when she eventually padded across the hallway and pushed open the door to your room, your little arms immediately throwing themselves up towards her, desperately in search of any form of comfort.
she bent down and scooped you out of your crib, cradling you in her arms in an instant, never one to deny you her embrace.
âiâm here sweetheart, iâve got you. whatâs the matter hm? can you tell mama?â she soothed for what felt like the hundredth time, running her hand through your bed head, voice so gentle that no outsider would believe it was the same stoic england captain they were so used to if they witnessed it.
you simply whined, more tears angrily slipping down your noticeably red cheeks as you buried your face into her neck, whimpering - her feeling warmth radiating off of you like a heater.
she had picked up on your temperature over the night and had kept an eye on it, and whilst it had definitely now started to come back down, she could tell that you still werenât feeling great. she could guess based on how sniffly your cries had become, paired with the level of sick you'd been over the course of the night - that youâd picked up the latest nasty bug, most likely from your nursery, despite you only going there once or twice a week.
the nursery that you now wouldnât be able to attend for the next forty eight hours whilst your mother went to training.
usually, leah wouldn't even hesitate to call jonas and let him know that she wouldn't be able to make it to training - you were her number one priority always, but of course, the one day you get ill happens to be the one day of the season that leah can't miss, or arrange for somebody to look after you at home.
meaning she'd have to bring you with her.
âokay my bubba. weâre gonna make you all better in no time, kay? you're gonna be my little helper for the day and come to work with me, and see all your aunties! they'll be so excited to see you.â she chatted away to you as she made her way down to the kitchen - prepping your morning bottle and fetching you some 'magic' medicine, whilst bouncing you gently in her arms.
you settled finally as you drank, clutching onto the bottle for dear life as leah stroked your forehead, itâs temperature finally going down to somewhat normal as the medicine started to kick in, your tiredness following, and catching up to you.
you were almost fast asleep as she bathed and changed you into some fresh, non sicky clothes, texting the arsenal group chat as a pre warning of your previously unexpected arrival.
she was grateful to say the least when she looked in her mirror to see you still knocked out in your car seat as she drove to the training ground - hoping that you finally getting some rest in meant that you were on the up, and that you'd wake up feeling better again.
âcome on then my girl, letâs go see everyone then shall weâ she whispered, pressing a kiss to your head as she unbuckled and lifted your sleeping frame into her arms, slipping your dummy into your mouth and grabbing your blanket, before grabbing both of your bags and heading inside.
-
âthereâs my favourite girl!â an unmistakable irish voice boomed down the corridor from behind the pair of you, leah wincing as you stirred ever so slightly - not wanting to deal with another repeat of this morning.
thankfully, no such thing happened - katie getting the hint after a single look from the blonde, and a slap on the arm from caitlin.
âshit, sorry! do you want us to take her whilst you go and speak to jonas and kim about the plan for the day? they said it won't take long todayâ katie whispered, already reaching out for you before she had an answer.
âyouâre a lifesaver, thank you! i'll be as quick as i can - if she does wake up thereâs anything sheâll need in her bag, but she should hopefully be out for a while.â leah gently transferred you into katieâs waiting arms, a now well practiced routine with the team whenever they wanted baby cuddles and you were sleeping, and passed the aussie beside her your bag.
-
by the time you woke again, nearly four hours had passed - and you had been in pretty much everyone in the building's arms at some point or another as the team took turns doing drills.
your auntie viv was the lucky one this time, your eyes fluttering open slowly as she swayed with you wrapped up in her hold, humming a dutch lullaby. she was easily one of your favourite people, and had been for as long as you could remember, having cried in everybody else's arms apart from hers, the most awkward and freaked out person over holding a baby in the room, when you were a couple of weeks old.
"vivi" you mumbled, voice muffled by both your dummy and the sleep as you glanced up at her, playing with her fingers ever so softly.
"hi tiny, you feeling any better?" she asked, knowing that you probably had no idea what she was asking you, and that the fact you weren't crying was probably the best answer she was going to get.
you had perked up massively, some colour finally returning to your cheeks as your sleep clearly fought off whatever nastiness you had been feeling earlier on.
you babbled incoherently and pointed towards where alessia, katie and steph were chatting - another sign that you were definitely feeling a little bit more like yourself, wanting to be involved in what everyone was doing again.
the dutch woman placed you down on the floor as you wriggled and attempted to get down yourself, chuckling and following after you as you determinedly toddled over to the trio.
katie was the first to notice you and scoop you up, pretending that you were a rocket ship, making you squeal with laughter before steph had reminded her to be gentle with you. she only tickled you softly in response before placing you back down and letting you kick a ball to her and alessia, as steph rummaged through your backpack for a top up of medicine and a snack for you - knowing that you'd likely be starving.
the australian had very nearly been met with a complete meltdown when you'd spotted the medicine, it only being resolved because you saw lia stopping to get a snack and take her own medicine for her leg, letting you go and happily sit with her, thinking you were as cool as your auntie lia as steph popped the syringe of pink liquid into your mouth.
-
leah had been checking in on how you were doing every half an hour or so, and she had never been happier to see you run towards her when she caught your eye.
"hi my baby! how are you feeling?" she cooed, granting your wish to be in her arms immediately and fussing over you whilst thanking all of the girls for their help.
âsheâs been good, slept like a champ and just had some more medicine - think sheâs officially on the mend.â steph answered, grinning at you and playing with your hair as leah pressed kisses to your cheek.
you clapped your hands and cheered, not understanding the words but loving the attention that was on you - and how the horrible ache in your body had started to fade.
âalright then! weâre all done for the day so weâre gonna head off for some much needed rest - thank you girls for all of your help with this one. say bye to your aunties then bubba.â leah collected all of your stuff and waved goodbye - you copying her almost identically, as expected.
âbye bye.â you said as clearly as your dummy would allow, waving again at each of the girls individually, who had all gathered near you, their usual place whenever you were around.
âclumsy lessi.â you mumbled as you pointed at alessia, the rest room erupting in laughter just like every other time you said it, and the striker once again protested.
âshe knows like ten words and those are two of them!â
"don't get mad at the baby for speaking the truth russo!"

clash of colours | like mother, like daughter mini series
summary: rascal opens her presents on christmas day and is disappointed to recieve the wrong kit, much to katie's outrage over the situation.
like mother, like daughter masterlist
âMammy! Caitlin!â You shout loudly, bouncing on the bed to wake them up, âWake up, itâs Christmas!â
In your excitement, you stumble and flop directly onto Caitlin, who grumbles a half-hearted protest as she nudges her girlfriend, âKatie, Rascalâs awake.â
Katie groans, barely cracking an eye open as she glances at the clock, âWhat theâ Rascal, itâs not even 6 a.m yet. Whatâre yerâ doinâ up so early?â
âSantaâs been, Mammy!â You exclaim, bouncing harder, âItâs Christmas! Itâs Christmas!â
âRascal, itâs not even light out yet, see?â Katie gestures toward the window, encouraging you to take a peek out of it and see itâs still relatively dark out, âHow âbout we try sleeping a bit longer, yeah? Presents will still be there in a bit.â
Of course youâre not going to give in that easily though.
âNo, Mammy. Weâve gotsâ to get up and open presents!â You try your luck to pull her arm to get her out of bed, however itâs easier said than done.
âRascal, letâs sleep for a bit longer. Yerâ presents will still be there to open even then,â Katie continues to try and persuade you, clearly not much of a fan of being woken up early despite the years she should have been used to it by now.
âNo, up now!â Your frustration turns into whines, âCome on, Mammy!â Youâre confused why wonât they wake up already?
âSomething tells me I donât think sheâs going back to sleep anytime soon,â Caitlin jokes playfully, nudging her girlfriend, âShall we go downstairs and see what Santa has brought you then, eh?â She wonders.
âYeah!â You perk up immediately from the small tantrum you had begun to have and you're grateful at least Caitlin agreed to get up, âCome on, Mammy. Weâre gonna open presents!â
Without much choice but to agree to you, Katie huffs and throws the duvet back before she scoops you up into her arms, âRight, come on then. Letsâ go and see what the man in redâs brought yerâ then, eh?â
âSanta!â You squeal in excitement, even more excited to see if he had eaten the milk and cookies that you left for him the previous night, âSanta! Santa!â
âAre you excited to see what presents Santa has left for you?â Caitlin questions, amused by your excitement as you flail about in Katieâs arms, âI bet youâve been so spoiled!â
âSanta!â You continue to squeal, vibrating with excitement as your eyes widen in sudden realisation, âWait, no, Mammyâ Auntie Lalasâ not âwake yet!â
âOh believe me rascal, I donât think yerâ auntie will mind missing out too much on this considering the time,â Katie jokes, more than aware of the fact that her sister is definitely less tolerant to being awake at this time in the morning than she is, âHow about we let her sleep for a bit longer while yerâ open yerâ presents, and then yerâ can wake her up afterwards?â She suggests.
âNo, Mammy, it noâ the same an Lala needs to be âwake as well!â You insist, furrowing her eyebrows as you pass her bedroom door, âI go an wake her up!â
âI donât think thatâs a good idea rascal,â Katie hesitates to agree, shaking her head, âLet yerâ Auntie sleepââ
âNo, Mammy. Wake her up!â You insist, wriggling around in Katieâs arms until she reluctantly puts you down and lets you have the freedom to run and dive onto your Auntieâs bed in a not so polite way to wake her up, âAuntie âLala you gotsâ to wake up! Santasâ been!â
âWhat in the⌠Rascal?!â Ella is completely thrown off by her abrupt wake up call by yourself and you should consider yourself lucky to not be tossed off the bed, âWhat timesâ it?â
â6 am,â Katie grumbles, standing outside of the bedroom door, âI did try and tell her to let yerâ sleep but well, yerâ know how well that went.â She explains, shrugging her shoulders.
â6 AM?!â Ella repeats, her eyes darting to her phone on the bed side table, grumbling something under her breath before flopping her head back down on her pillow, âWake me up when itâs later, like 10 or something,â She murmurs with her eyes shut again.
You donât like the idea of her going back to sleep very much, not on your watch.
âAuntie âLala, you gotsâ to wake up cosâ Santa has been!â You repeat, youâre very excited about Santa paying you a visit during the night, âYou gotsâ to get up!â
âSure, rascal, but itâs too early for that,â Ella murmurs in response to you, waving her hand in a gesture as she does no more than rolls over and continues to try and sleep.
You werenât taking no for an answer though, âNo, Mammy said we could get upââ Huffing aloud, you do no more than not so kindly jump directly on her stomach which makes her groan suddenly, âGet up, Auntie âLala!â
âWhoa, okay, alright I think thatâs enough,â Katie can tell Ella is much likely about to throttle you and steps in as she reaches for you and swoops you back up into her arms, âWeâre going to leave Auntie âLala to wake up and come downstairs when sheâs ready, okay? Weâll go and open presents for now with just the three of us.â
You didnât miss the way that Ella shot Katie a grateful smile as you were forced out of her room without much choice, Katie held you in her arms as she carried you down the stairs where a pile of presents awaited.
âSantasâ been!â You squeal in excitement, your eyes widen with wonder as you take in the sight of all the different presents that are laid out under the tree, âMammy! Caitlin! Look, Santasâ been!â
âHe has indeed, rascal,â Katie retorts, gently setting you down on the floor so you can explore them further, âMammysâ just going to make me and Caitlin a drink because weâre in need of them. Can you be patient and wait until then?â She questions.
âOpen presents, please,â You plead adorably, your enthusiasm infectious.
âJust wait, rascal, your Mammy wonât be too long,â Caitlin reassures you, smiling at your eagerness as plonks herself down on the sofa and anticipates the much needed cup of coffee early in the morning to deal with your excitement while opening presents.
By the time that Katie has returned with 2 cups of coffee, you are practically bursting with excitement and bouncing around the room like a bundle of energy, ready to explode, âOpen presents now, please?â
âGo ahead and open them rascal,â Katie settles onto the sofa, passing a mug to Caitlin and gives you the green light to start tearing into your presents.
Your eyes widen with awe as you tear through the wrapping paper, revealing an array of toys that elicited squeals of joy with each new discovery.
Katie couldnât help but chuckle, delighted to be able to watch the pure happiness as you unwrap every single present. She canât wait to see the look on your face when you open your last present that she is partially excited about - A replica of her own shirt with the name âMini McCabeâ proudly emblazoned on it in the famous red and white shirt.
You continue to make your way tearing through the presents, finally reaching the last one. With eager hands, you tear off the paper, revealing the red and white football kit.
âWow, a football kit!â You squeal in delight, clutching the fabric with glee.
However, your joy quickly turns into confusion as you examine the kit more closely.
âWhatâs the matter, rascal?â Caitlin questions, the concern evident in her voice.
Katie notices your sudden disappointment, âDo you not like it, rascal?â She wonders, her confusion growing.
âTisâ Arsenal. Me wanâ Chelsea instead,â You declare, your tiny voice filled with disappointment.
Katieâs face registers a mixture of shock and disbelief, âRascal, why would yerâ want a Chelsea kit? Mammy plays for the Gunners, not the Blues,â She reminds you, her voice tinged with surprise.
Your disappointment mirrors Katieâs as the tears well up in your innocent eyes, âWhyâd Santa bring me this? Iâm not a Gunner, I support the Blues!â You whimper, your heart sinking in disappointment.
Katie struggles to find her initial frustration, âBecause Santa knows that in this house, we support Arsenal, rascal,â She explained, adamant about her decision that she will not be swapping out the kit for one of the rivalâs team.
âLook, rascal, Santa brought you this one because he thought youâd like this one better,â Caiitlin tries to salvage the situation, âHow cool does it look, huh?â She gestures, hoping to shift your focus to the positive aspect of the shirt.
âBut no Chelsea,â Your bottom lip wobbled, signalling an impending meltdown.
âNo Chelsea, Arsenal instead,â Katie reiterates, turning to Caitlin with a look of disbelief.
âWow, look, rascal,â Caitlin speaks up, pointing with her index finger over the name on the back, âDo you see what it says on the back? Santa did it especially because he knew you would like it, look, it says âMini Mccabeâ just like you!â
âNo!â You push the material away, clearly unhappy with it.
Katie feels a pang of heart as you reject the red and white Arsenal kit, âRascal, why donât yerâ try it on?â She tries her best to get you to like it.
Shaking your head in disagreement, you're very reluctant to try it on, âNo! Donâ want Arsenal. Wanâ Chelsea!â You insist, your tiny voice filled with determination.
âRascal, why?â Katieâs voice trembles with surprise and disappointment, âArsenal is the batter team, not⌠not Chelsea.â
Your stubbornness stings Katie, hoping you would share her passion for the Gunners but instead you have decided to lean towards their rivals in blue.
âMe wanâ Chelsea!â Your insistence crushes Katiesâ hopes, leaving her at a loss for how to reconcile your conflicting loyalties, âMe no wanâ no stupid Arsenal!â
Caitlin and Katie shared a look, though Katiesâ is more frustrated over the situation, âOver my dead body will my daughter wear a Chelsea shirt in this house⌠Itâs not happeninâ!â
But it did happen â As soon as Ruesha got wind of your disappointment over the âwrongâ kit, she was all onboard in getting you the Chelsea kit you wanted. Anything to advert a meltdown â and, of course, wind Katie up as well.
âLook, Mammy, look!â You shout, bouncing in excitement as Katie opens the front door, her face falling as she sees you dressed head to toe in a blue and white Chelsea kit, courtesy of Ruesha, âMama got me the kit I wanted!â
âYerâ I can see that, Rascal,â Katie mutters, swallowing a lump of dismay as she shoots Ruesha a glare, âReally, Rue?â
Ruesha just shrugs with a mischievous grin, âHey, anything to make the kid happy, Katie.â
Katie sighs, trying to mask her irritation, âAlright, Rascal, say bye to Mama,â She prompts, ready to end the exchange and once youâve hugged Ruesha, Katie ushers you inside, already bracing herself for the upcoming battle of getting you out of that kit and into your pyjamas.
Much to Katieâs horror, the determination to wear your brand new kit everywhere sticks, even when it comes to the Arsenal training grounds.
âRascal,â Katie tries her luck as she scowers your wardrobe for find something for you to wear other than that damn kit, much to your disagreement, shaking your head at every option of clothing sheâs shown you, âWhat about this one? Look, itâs red, yerâ know like Mammyâs team!â
âNo!â You exclaim, stubbornly against the idea, âChelsea kit, Mammy! Chelsea kit!â
âYou might as well give up and let her wear it,â Caitlin leans against the doorframe of your bedroom, amusedly watching the battle take place, âIâm sure this is just a phase and itâll pass, right, Rascal?â
âChelsea my team!â You declare, promptly as you tug at the blue and white material hung up in the wardrobe, âThis one, Mammy!â You continue to insist.
âI never knew what heartbreak felt like until now, when my own kid decides to support the wrong team,â Katie murmurs, fauxing hurt as she clutches her hand over her chest, âAlright, alright, Chelsea kit is then, eh?â
Caitlin canât help but grin in amusement, âOh you know the girls are going to love this.â
The minute that you arrive at the training grounds, you are eager to run around and find everyone to show off your new kit to them all.
âAuntie Vivi!â You run straight towards her, as she scoops you up her arms, âLook at my new kit, itâs blue!â
âRascal! Youâre in the wrong colours,â Beth teases, eyeing your outfit as she sits beside her girlfriend.
âWhat on earth is this?â Leah asks with a gasp, playfully snatching you out of Vivsâ arms as she dangles you in the air to examine you head-to-toe wearing the gear of the rival club, âKatie, why is Rascal wearing this colour?â
Katie groans, already exasperated, âDonât even get me started. Ruesha got it for her, and Iâve tried everything I can to get it off her.â
âNo, ridiculous, this wonât do,â Leah tuts, shaking her head and showing her clear detest for the kit youâre donned in, âRascal, donât you want to be cool and wear red instead? You can even wear a jersey with my number on the back. Wouldnât that be fun, instead of yucky blue?â
You shake your head stubbornly, âNo, me wanâ wear Chelsea. I like Chelsea better, Auntie Le!â You declare to the blonde, before turning your head to look at Katie, âMammy, do you think that Lauren James will sign my shirt at the next game?â
A ripple of gasps echoes around the room, and Katieâs teammates stare at you in stunned disbelief.
âKatie,â Lotte chimes in, horrified, âI think there might be something wrong with your kid. She might be broken.â She retorts, her tone laced with disbelief at your bold statement.

An arm sliding around your waist is what you notice first in your daze of slumber. Your mind still hasnât caught up yet, too focused on how cozy the bed is. But suddenly youâre being pulled to the middle of the mattress, your back hitting a chest as you snuggle into the warmth. You swear you could pass back out even easier now, the new heat source making you even more comfortable. It had been a long night celebrating your anniversary, especially since you both had a game first. Youâd won 4-1 Arsenal, so the girls gladly helped you party the night awayâŚbut today is about doing all the things you werenât free to do alone yesterday.Â
âTime to get up, my darling.â Katieâs voice is always so thick with her accent first thing in the morning. The raspiness always gets to you, and she knows it, too. Sheâs often taken full advantage of your weakness for her morning voice. She loves whispering the dirtiest of things into your ears at the crack of dawn and letting her hands roam across your body, teasing you until youâre begging for her touch. Then sheâll flip it on you, clicking her tongue as she scolds you for running you both late to practice. âWhat am I gonna do with you, pretty girl? Always making us late.â
You turn around in her hold, burying your face into her neck as she starts to rub your back. The early ambiance of the outside world slowly creeps inside, like the birds chirping and cars starting to fill up the streets. You can still smell the body wash she used last night on her skin, taking in a deep breath of it as you exhale in a sleepy sigh, âFive more minutes, please baby.â
âOkay, hun..but only five more. Then we gotta get ready for the day, alright?â Sheâs met with a small snore from between your lips. Already back to being dead to the world in her arms. Her chest shakes with a silent laugh at that, trying not to disturb you before your times up. Katie slowly pulls your head back, resting it on her pillow so she can examine your face. There have been many days where sheâs watched you sleep. Not in a creepy way, but in an endearing way. Sheâd often wake up before you and just admire how beautiful you look while deep in slumber. Youâre like a piece of art lying perfectly in motion, her personal Mona Lisa who stepped out of the painting. Gripping the canvas as you pulled your way to be in the world of the living and took refuge in her heart. Youâve burrowed your way into her soul, carved out a spot there, and made a permanent homeâŚbut she wouldnât have it any other way.Â
She knew youâd be trouble for her the first day you attended practice after signing with Arsenal. Strolling right in with that perfect smile on your dumb gorgeous face, and effectively distracting her for all of warm-ups. Sheâd gone pretty hard on you that first day during drills, taking the frustrations of her attraction out on the pitch. And after all the teasing, slide tackles, and pushes sheâd sent your way, that still didnât stop you from coming over in the locker room and telling her she played well that day. A hand extended to shake hers and that stupid smile appeared back on your face, making her heart almost burst out of her chest (for about the tenth time that day). Katie swears to this day that her brain short-circuited at that moment. You were standing in front of her covered in grass and dirt stains, and she had been the cause of themâŚ.but you still looked like a goddess standing before her, reaching out an olive branch in the shape of your perfectly painted nails.Â
For the first time in her life, Katie McCabe was rendered speechless. Blubbering her mouth silently like a fish out of water before jutting her hand out to take yours. As you shook hands all Katie could concentrate on was how soft your skin was, like an invitation to never let go. You giggled while watching her, âYouâre cute.âÂ
As you slipped away from her, she stood frozen in place, like a deer caught in headlights. You turned at the door before you left, shooting her that paralyzing smile one last time, âSee you on the pitch, McCabeâŚand close your mouth. Wouldnât want our star defender catching any flies now would we?â And just like that you were gone out of the room, leaving her to pick up the pieces of her frontal cortex shattered onto the floor below her.Â
Itâs hard to believe itâs been a little over five years since then, and only four months since the proposal. Youâre both currently living in your little bubble of love. Deciding together to keep the engagement to yourselves for at least two more months. The secrecy of sharing such an exciting and intimate moment from everyone in your lives has been fueling A LOT of sex between the two of you. In the locker room showers, the club meeting room, and numerous bathrooms or broom closets of whatever establishments the two of you have occupied.Â
Katie sighs looking back at the clock, sheâs already let you sleep an extra 10 minutes now. She knows how you are though, especially first thing in the morning. Youâre usually her walking sunshine, radiating light off you everywhere you go. But youâre always her frumpy grump in the morning (as she likes to call you.) A frown and a furrow between your brows settle into your features as your sleepy eyes try to shut at any given moment. Youâve run into many, many walls that way..so Katie came up with a solution a few years back when you started living together: carrying you around like a koala bear until you can walk and function on your own.
Her arms secure you in her grip, hoisting you up as you stay sound asleep in her hold. She starts walking to the bathroom, knowing when she sits you on the counter itâs gonna wake you up. She turns the hot water in the shower on first, letting it warm up as she gets you up enough to hop in with her. The cold marble lights goosebumps across your skin as you jolt alive wakeful, your eyes snapping open to the bright lights above you. Your hips go to lift your thighs off the freezing countertop, but Katieâs hands stop you, pushing you to sit back down. Her hands slip under your shirt as you shiver at the feeling of her ring sliding across your warm skin, leaving a tingly feeling behind in its wake.Â
A kiss graces the pulse point on your neck, Katieâs lips lingering as you start leaning into her more. The soft sucks and nips from her teeth start warming you up slowly. Like a fire brewing in your belly the more she teases you. She leans back for a second to pull you into a searing kiss, her nails digging into the skin of your waist now. Itâs the kind of kiss that takes your breath away, leaves your face red, and panting for some fresh air when you pull apart. Katie pulls back enough to speak against your lips, âTime to get up and shower, sleepyhead.âÂ
Your face drops back into those distinct telltale signs that youâre frustrated. Thatâs made even more apparent by the way you cross your arms over your chest and let a scoff out into her face. Katie just smiles at you, used to your stink of an attitude in the morning after so many years. Honestly, at this point, if you ever woke up this early with a smile on your face sheâd be racing you to the ER for a full workup of your brain. âYou did not kiss me like that JUST so Iâd get in the shower,â you narrow your eyes at her as you say it. âAre you saying I stink, McBabe?â you push her shoulder lightly with a pout on your lips.Â
âOnly your tude, darlingâŚ.but your hair is looking a little doolally,â she says with a grimace on her face. The little smirk at the corner of her mouth gives way to her joking nature underneath though. You open your mouth to say something else all prickly, but she cuts you off with her fingers wiggling across your middle. Then she starts attacking you in flurry of kisses, all over your face as you struggle to get away from her.
âK-Kate! Katie s-stop!â Your hands come up to push at her stomach and chest, loud laughs ripping from your mouth as she relentlessly tickles you on the counter. âPl-Please baby! Ok-Okay! Iâll get in t-the shower!âÂ
She pulls back at that, her infectious grin mirroring your own as she starts taking your clothes off. Leaving little kisses on your body as she concludes stripping you. She reaches for her shorts, but you slap her hand away. âLet me, love. Only fair that I repay the favor.âÂ
Your lips slot onto hers as your hands slip down her toned abdomen and start pulling her sleep shorts down her legs. No time is wasted as you instantly reach back up and take the band of her underwear into your fingertips. You rub the material through your fingers for a second, admiring the softness before they follow the path of her bottoms around her ankles.Â
Then youâre gasping into her mouth as sheâs backing you up into the counter youâd just been plucked off of. The articles of clothing that had taken home around her feet now kicked to the side, ironically right in front of the laundry bin. Her grip on your now bare hips disappears as she pulls away from your makeout. Using her now free hands to pull her sports bra off and toss it somewhere to be picked up later from the floor.Â
She picks you back up, letting you wrap your legs around her waist as she leads you both to the now steaming shower. âIâm making you drive if all the hot waterâs gone.â
Katie lightly slaps your ass as a response. The warm water surrounds you as she closes the door behind you both. She lowers you to stand on your own, hugging your back to her front as you both submerge under the downpour of the showerhead. âIâm always gonna be the one driving anyways darling, we both know that.âÂ
âOh yeah? Says who?âÂ
âSays you miss pro passenger princess! I canât remember one time youâve ever sat in the drivers seat while weâve been togetherâŚunless weâre counting when youâre on my lap while you let meââÂ
âOkay! I get it, I get it!â You turn around and place a hand over her mouth, laughing as you come to terms with your new title. Deciding to tease her back a bit for causing the blush dusting your cheeks, âDonât have to do a play-by-play for me. I know you love those, but leave our sex life out of your pregame rituals- EW KATIE!âÂ
Sheâs the one laughing now, smirking as she flicks her tongue back out at you. âThatâs so gross, babe! My poor hand with your morning breath germs all over it!â
âOh shut up! Acting like that same tongue wasnât shoved inside your cunt less than 12 hours ago and been in your mouth ever since your pretty little eyes peeled open.âÂ
Your mouth shuts closed at that, the red on your cheeks deepening as you hide your face with your hands. âOkay, Iâm not gonna argue with you there,â you breathe out between your fingers. Youâre met with a kiss to the forehead as Katie pulls your hands away, chuckling as you reveal a small frown to her.Â
âTurn around you goober, Iâll wash your hair. We really canât mess around now or weâre gonna be late for our appointment,â she says while reaching for your shampoo.Â
Itâs always so relaxing when she does your hair for you some days. You used to always laugh at first because it reminded you of Charles from Brooklyn99 so badly. She never understood when youâd just burst out giggling like a madman and when sheâd ask youâd just reply, âThe most intimate thing you can do for a lover is wash their hair!âÂ
When you finally got her to agree to watch the show about a year after the shower routine started, she almost choked on her popcorn when she heard him say it. Yeah, she definitely chased you around the house before tackling you to the couch and tickling you as a punishment for making fun of her popcorn hazard. She really does love to use it as her weapon of certain surrenderâŚbecause after five seconds youâre begging for a truce.Â
The hints of apple and honey fill your nostrils as Katieâs fingers massage the cream into your scalp, pulling soft relieved sighs from your lips. She can physically see your body relax into hers at the act. Sheâd never admit it to you, but this really is the most intimate act sheâs ever done with a loverâŚand itâs reserved just for youâ promised forever now.Â
âAll finished, booger!âÂ
You turn around as she starts loading up her loofa, taking it from her grasp as you start doing it for her. It starts out innocentlyâ it really does, okay! But like most things with Katie, they donât stay that way for long. You canât help but fall to your knees as the loofa runs clean water down her body now, the last of the suds swirling down the drain. âWhat are you doing, doll? I told you we canât waste any more time messing around,â her hand comes to rest on the top of your head.
âAnd I told you Iâd repay the favor last night, and I think weâve established I donât like leaving empty promises, baby.â Your hands run up her legs, stopping to run your nails up her inner thighs. The hand on your head turns into fingers in your hair as she lets a growl out, pulling your head up. âStick your tongue out, darling.âÂ
You do as she says, opening your mouth and sticking your tongue out. Her hand moves more towards the back of your head as she pushes your face into her cunt, her shoulders hitting the cold tiles as she guides your head. Her nipples get hard from the contact off the wall, a shiver running down her spine as you start sucking on her clit. Your hands go up to grab her hips, trying to ground yourself as you get lost in the taste of her.Â
âJust like that, fuck babe.â Sheâs gritting her teeth now, planting her footing before grinding her pussy down onto your mouth. âOpen yourâ fuck! Open your eyes for me, love.â
And Jesus fuck you had to fight the urge to let them roll into the back of your skull when you do. Sheâs staring down at you with those alluring eyes, her long wet hair thrown onto one shoulder, and her abs flexing as she grinds down onto your eager mouth. You moan just at the sight, flicking your tongue on her clit as you let one of your hands come down to replace it. Then you push your tongue inside of her, desperate for a true taste of what you know she has to offer.Â
âPussy drunk arenât you, darling?â she laughs out, holding you completely still as she puts a little more pressure onto your face as she humps into your tongue harder. The water running down her perfectly sculpted body is reflecting off the light coming into the bathroom. A sign of the little time you two really have, the rest of the world carrying on as youâre frozen in the spot between her legs. Your knees are aching and your jaws getting sore, but that bleeds into the background noise as Katie lets out a knee-wobbling moan.Â
Her eyes burn into yours as her legs start to shake around your head, and you start grinding your face back up into her as she comes down. The roll of her hips bumping her clit into your nose in the chaos, more sweet sounds tumbling from her lips. She cums with a groan of your name falling from her lips, the hand in your hair dragging you up her body.
You let your tongue trace its way up her body as she brings you up to meet each otherâs lips in a messy kiss. Tasting herself all over your mouth as she walks back under the main stream of water, you squeal from the chill from the now heatless water. She quickly washes you both up before hurrying from the shower, a new skip in her step for the day.Â
It only takes you both about 15 minutes to get ready, you in a nice flowy sundress that Katie had surprised you with last night in the early a.m. hum of London. Youâd stumbled in all tipsy, horny, but determined to swap your gifts before bed, and by god, you got it done, too. Like did you look at them for 5 seconds and then instantly sit them on the coffee table and fuck for three hours straight around on different surfaces of the house?...The answer would be yes. BUT hey you got the prioritized goal done before going at it like animals and thatâs all that matters in your book.Â
Katie walks into the bathroom where youâre finishing up your makeup, and your eyes almost pop out of your head. Sheâs wearing an outfit that throws you headfirst into ovulation early. There she stood in her tight tan crop top and white flowy pants. The glasses you had gifted her two birthdays ago, a gold necklace with your initial hanging from it, and the gold watch you bought her for your first anniversary to match.
It all comes together to make a delicious sight for your viewing. She comes up behind you, arms bulging as she places her hands beside you on the same countertop youâd made out on earlier. âStop ogling me, weâre gonna be late you perv!âÂ
You roll your eyes at her before finally zipping up your makeup bag. You put on some lipgloss before tucking it in your purse and moving to go put your shoes on. âWear comfy ones, Iâve got a surprise for you at lunch!â she calls out across the room as she sees you approaching the shoe rack on your side of the closet. You give her a questioning look, wondering why youâd need comfy shoes for whatever restaurant sheâs chosenâŚbut nonetheless, you comply. Slipping on some sandals to match your dress, and to show off your matching nails of course (courtesy of being paid for by your girlfriend).Â
You arrive at the tattoo parlour right on time, not a moment to spare. You hop out of the car and rush inside hand in hand with Katie. She leans down to press a kiss to the side of your head after sheâs talked with the man at the front, âYouâre so lucky we werenât late or youâd be in big trouble, missy.âÂ
âYeah, yeah, I know.â you whisper back at her, âbut we werenât, so live a little, babe.âÂ
She just shakes her head at you, following behind the heavily inked man in front of you until he pulls the curtains back to an empty room. He leads you inside and pats the freshly cleaned black leather chair, âAlright whoâs going first?âÂ
â
When you leave the shop youâve both got a huge smile on your face, hands intertwined and swinging as you skip to the car. âI canât believe we really did that, Katie!âÂ
âBest believe we did, darling! Now youâre really stuck with me forever,â she pulls you back into her arms. Stopping on the sidewalk to take this moment in with you.Â
âAnd always,â you say barely above a whisper, but itâs enough for just Katie to hear. Your fingertips move as gently as ever as they trace along her ribs, right under her left boob where the fresh ink lays eternally embedded into her skin. Youâd both gotten matching onesâ a cliche I knowâ but it was something youâve both wanted for a while. Hers saying, âgo deoâ and yours, âi gconaiâ in the same spot. Itâs a promise to each other thatâs permanently carved into your persons; a pledge of forever and always. As cheesy as it sounds the words hold dear for you both, and the Gaelic spelling gives a deeper connection as well.Â
Katie swears she feels her heart stop beating in her chest as the sounds of the city become nothing but white noise, her body leaning into yours as you share a soft, yet passionate kiss in the busy bustle of the city. You almost donât want to pull apart, but the remembrance of your surprise is what fuels you to break away and start tugging her toward where she parked the car. âCome on, move it McBabe! I heard weâve got a plan for lunch, and Iâm dying to see what youâve got arranged!âÂ
After a 3-and-a-half-hour ride, you finally reach your destination. Sheâs brought you to Priory Beach, the place you went to on your second-anniversary trip. She leads you out to a white tent on the side of the beach, out of the way enough for some privacy between you two. As she leads you closer you feel tears gathering in your eyes at the sight. Thereâs not just a tent, but blankets spread out, too. A mini table is set up full of your favorite picnic foods, a vase with your favorite flowers, two wine glasses, and your favorite red bottle to accompany it. A little fully charged DVD player is under the table, and the movie you two watched on your first date sits right beside it. But the polaroids of you two hanging from the white tull-wrapped arch is what does it for you, and before you know it youâre crying like a baby.Â
Katie pulls you into her arms as she hugs you, a panicked look on your face as she does. âOh lord, Iâm sorry darling! I didnât mean to make you upset or anything-â
âNo! No! I love it!â you pull back quickly, your shiny eyes meeting her terrified ones. âItâs just..no oneâs ever done anything this sweet for me. Itâs a lot to take in, okay!âÂ
She throws her head back and cackles at the realization. âOh yeah? Not even likeâŚoh, I donât know, say getting a matching tattoo?â She teases as she wipes your tears away with her thumbs, now cradling your face in her hands.Â
âShut up! You know what I meant, babe!âÂ
She puts a hand on her chest and acts like sheâs just been shot at close range, âNot even McBabe? Oh, see you are mad at me!â She lets out a dramatic sigh, slumping down onto the blanket as she gets on her knees and takes your hands into hers begging for your forgiveness. You quickly do, laughing at her antics before she pulls you down to sit with her. Itâs a beautiful view to have as you eat. The waves roll in as a backdrop to the movie as it plays. Itâs really all just background music to the endless conversation between you two, the wine keeps flowing, and the hours keep ticking by. But itâs barely been 20 minutes to you both. Too busy drowning out the world around you as you get lost in each otherâs eyes and voices, retelling the best moments of your love story as you reflect on how youâve got to where you are today. âOh, wow! The lights are a beautiful touch!â you gasp as they flick on, lighting up your space as the sun sets before you. The movieâs long been over and the DVD player dead for a while, too. You take a sip from your last glass of wine and lean your head on Katieâs shoulder, taking in the beauty of the scenery that youâre able to see up close and personal right now. The oranges, pinks, and reds reflect off the water. Ripples of incomprehensible vibrant colors all mashing into one to create an unforgettable memory. âShould we take a picture of the sunseâ what are you looking at?â you cut yourself off as you look up at her, the last part of your sentence becoming a whisper. Sheâs just staring at you, with this unreadable expression on her face, itâs truly one youâve never seen before (at least not awake).Â
âYouâre just so beautiful. I wake up every day in awe that itâs me youâve chosen to spend the rest of your life with. I donât know what I ever did to deserve you, but I thank god every night that Iâm holding you to my chest. I get to experience the best parts of life because of you, and Iâll never be able to truly repay you for that, y/nâŚbut thankfully Iâve got the rest of our lifetime together to try.â
You can feel the weight of her words as she speaks them. Thereâs no smile, laugh, or distraction in her voice. Sheâs confessing to you, like a sinner in a catholic church. Spilling the contents of her soul out onto the staircase of your heart, and leaving it there for you to either clean it up or let it soak into the deepest parts of you. So you lean up and press your lips against hers. Katie grabs your face, turning you around as she yanks you onto her lap. Your half-empty wine glass goes flying, landing in the sand beside the blanket as the wine leaks into the ground staining it dark.Â
You want to say something back to her, but your brain is just mush. Itâs like sheâs stolen all the thoughts out of your head and youâre just floating in this bliss called her. Youâre starting to think she was onto something when she said you fried her brain that one day because holy fuck youâre really humping your fianceâs lap on a public beach right now without a care in the world like you two arenât famous athletes. âMmm Katieâ someone could s-see us,â you can barely get it out as she keeps her lips on yours.Â
âThen let them,â she says it so casually into your lips that you almost listen to her, but one of you has to be the responsible one. So you pull back and give her your best kicked-puppy look, a pout dancing on your bottom lip, âPlease, baby. I donât want to end up on the front page of some tabloidâ at least not till Iâm officially Mrs. McBabe.âÂ
She looks at you while biting on her bottom lip, her brows furrowed as she thinks of something deep in thought. You tilt your head at her after a few seconds, placing a hand on her shoulder to check on her. âBaby? Are you okâOH MY Gââ Youâre cut off twice. The first time when she manhandles you into the air. The second one is when she continues to manhandle you between her thighs, resting your back on her chest and a hand over your mouth. âShhh darling! Wouldnât want to ruin my plan now would you?â
You shake your head no, still not able to use your voice. So she slowly moves her hand away from your mouth, and lets it slide up the inside of your thigh. âYour dress is long enough to hide my hand, and you can hide your face in my neck if you want to, okay? I promise no one will see usâ and you nod your head in response.Â
âI need to hear you say it. Is this okay with you, y/n?â Her voice is suddenly stern, a hint of her softness peaking out to wrap around the words in a thin veil.Â
âYes baby, j-just please touch me already! God, Iâve needed you since you kissed my breath away this morning.âÂ
Katie groans into your mouth as she crashes them back together, her fingertips digging into the skin of your upper thighs as they inch up closer to your heat. When they reach your pussy sheâs met with instant wetness and a loud breathy moan from you. A laugh rumbles up in her throat and vibrates your mouth as they stay connected, âNo panties? Fuck baby youâve been needing it bad all day, huh?â
You whine out at her teasing, raising your hips up as you search for her touch. Bucking wildly as your body begs for her fingers. âOkay shhh, shhh. Iâve got you now, love. Calm down,â as her digits run up and down your slit. They collect the unfathomable amount of wetness onto her fingers, your pussy leaking like a hydrant for her. She slides a single finger in first, not wanting to overwhelm you before youâre ready.Â
âAdd another one, please,â you say through a small moan.Â
âOnly cause you asked so sweet,â she smirks back at you. âMy sunshine girl.â
So she slides her finger out and quickly returns with a second one buried inside your cunt. Sheâs fucking you a little faster now, the reluctance from your tight walls finally letting up. Youâre biting your lip, muffled little cries of pleasure audible to Katieâs ears solely.Â
Her other hand finds its way into the top of your dress, popping a hand underneath your bra as she starts groping your breasts. She makes sure she gives them both equal attention, switching out every so often to not overstimulate you. Her lips find shelter on your neck, leaving little pecks when and where she wants. But when you start grinding down onto her fingers, she decides to add another one by surprise this time.Â
It rips a louder moan from your mouth, especially since her thumb is adding to the mix and rubbing circles onto your clit now. Your body wants to squirm away, but youâre stuck between Katieâs legs, being forced into letting the pleasure wreck through your body. âIâm g-gonna cum, baby!â
You feel a smile against your jaw, âYouâre my pretty fucking fiancĂŠ, yeah? I love you so much. I canât wait to marry you, darling. Canât wait to make love to you as my wifeâ my other half.âÂ
sheâs starting to ramble and itâs going to be your downfall. The feeling of her curling them to hit right into her sweet spot draws you even closer to the edge, âLet it all out, darling. Cum on and give it to me!â
And so you do. Your hand comes around to grip her wrist through your sundress, your nails digging into her skin as you flail around in her hold. Your back arches away from her chest and your toes curl as they kick out in front of you. Your walls squeeze her fingers so tight she has to stop moving them as sheâs biting love marks into your skin, trying to let this orgasm run its course as long as it can. You swear youâve never cum this hardâ positively boneless in her hold.Â
You hiss at the slight sting as she pulls them out of you, immediately bringing them up to her mouth for a detailed cleaning with her tongue. Her eyes roll back at the flavor of you that hits her tastebuds, and sheâs manhandling you onto your back this time. The soft blankets swallow you up as you lay down submerged in them, âWh-what are you doing, K-Katie?â
âI just need to clean you up a bit, baby. Iâll be fast, I promise. Canât have you all messy the whole ride home, now can we?â You shouldâve known at the sight of her smirk right thenâŚthat it was going to be anything but speedy, but alas you have fallen victim to the tongue game of Katie McCabe once again. Your legs thrown open wide, back arched off the ground, hand on her head as it disappears under your dress, and a brand new tabloid with a picture of that exact scene on the front page the next morning. But one detail does stick out enough to add it to the headline..the shiny diamond ring on your finger, only visible from the light off of the set up she made you.Â
âYou canât even tell thatâs us, darling! Itâs too dark, weâre fine. Just gotta deny deny deny,â Katie says like sheâs a genius. A proud smirk on her face as she tries to pry you out from underneath your fortress of the duvet.Â
âTHEY HAVE PHOTOS OF US IN THOSE EXACT OUTFITS ALL OVER THE CITY THAT SAME DAY!â itâs shouted from under your mound of protection..not for youâ but for Katie. If looks could kill sheâd of been dead 10 times before now, all hell breaking loose after you woke up, and not five minutes later youâre getting bombarded with texts of screenshots and links.Â
âOkay your rightâŚthis is serious, baby, I'm sorryâŚSo should we start the onlyfans on our honeymoon? I could retire earââ
âKATIE!â And if that wasnât enough to know you didnât like that joke, then the pillow to the face should definitely get your mood across.

we are broken | a.p.
alexia putellas x mccabe!reader | katie mccabe x mccabe!reader (platonic) | 3.4k | when your relationship with alexia falls apart, your sister is there to pick you back up
ËË°â˘*â first fic for my we were happy universe, set pre enchanted to meet you universe. this is starting at the end of alexia and r's relationship, and might have come to be written from my own personal experience and the last 6 months of a 6 year relationship i was previously in :) anyway! hope you enjoy it! mostly angst, hurt/comfort :) also really happy with this one! italics = flashback/not the present time!
âAle, where are you even going right now?â You watched, clinging onto the sheets you had wrapped around your bare body while you watched your girlfriend scramble around picking up her clothes and getting dressed again. It was the middle of the night and it wasnât the first time Alexia had done this.Â
You used to go to and from training together, but now youâd arrive home before Alexia even bothered to let you know if she was coming home that night. Sheâd been spending more time away from you and any time she did spend with you it seemed like a chore for her. If she came home, youâd at least eat together, but there always had to be a show playing and Alexia never cared to listen to what you had to say any more.
Alexia used to, or you thought she used to love listening to you talk about your day. Even if you were both at training youâd often find yourself in different groups, though Alexia would always find you throughout the day, stealing little kisses and hugs from you. But now youd be lucky if she responded with more than one word whenever you did try to speak.Â
Some nights were different, some nights you saw the Alexia that you knew loved you, but those moments had started to become short lived. It was like youâd been stuck in this cycle for months now, no way of knowing how to break it, or if it could be broken at this point.
Tonight was just another night that left you confused and wanting answers. Sheâd been so sweet with you, cooking dinner for the two of you and listening to the stories of whatever you and Mapi had gotten up to instead of actually training, the two of you together were always trouble.
Alexia had kissed you in a way that made your knees buckle and you instantly melted against her. It had been a while since sheâd kissed you like that and now you were paying the price of instantly letting her have you just to break all over again. Which she did, as soon as it was over, as soon as she was done with you the facade dropped. She wiped her mouth, placing a small kiss against your thigh before leaving you lying there to catch yourself.
The Alexia you fell in love with, the Alexia for that first year and a half of your relationship wouldâve kissed her way up your body. Whispering sweet nothings, while you caught your breath and came down from your high. She used to look at you with so much softness and love, you wondered where that all went and when did it all change. Why wouldnât she stay and cuddle with you like she used to?Â
You had started feeling like you were just a toy for her to use whenever she wanted and just throw away once she was done. It wasnât a great feeling and every time you were left laying in the bed you were supposed to share with Alexia, feeling used and thinking about the times with Alexia before everything started to change. Sequentially, you started to hate yourself for always folding whenever Alexia gave you a crumb of attention that mimicked the first year of your relationship, when you knew youâd end up hurt all over again.
There were times you had tried to talk to Alexia about the change that youâd notice but every time she would dismiss it and say how stressed sheâd been lately. You obviously sympathised with your girlfriend and tried to do anything you could to make her life easier. You could understand that her role within the club wasnât always easy, so you did what you could to support Alexia.Â
Because thatâs what you do for your girlfriend and you love Alexia more than you could ever begin to explain. Six months ago youâd give her the space she said she needed, you were understanding. But then six months went by and everything with Alexia had progressively gotten worse.Â
âAlexia, amor, are you listening to me?â You sat up, just wanting Alexia to acknowledge you for once instead of ignoring you and then pretending everything was fine the next day.
âJe-Y/n,â Alexia sighed, closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose, hoping you wouldnât notice her almost slip up. What she didnât realise is that you started to hang onto her every word and every ounce of attention, as pathetic as you felt for doing that. So you did notice the slip up.Â
Your eyes narrowed and you sat up more, making sure that the sheet that was wrapped around you didnât fall. You already felt vulnerable enough in front of Alexia right now, you didnât want to add to that, âIs there another person?â Your voice was small, the question making you feel sick to your stomach. The weight you felt in your chest increased the longer Alexia went with answering your question.
It was a question that had plagued the back of your mind but thatâs where you kept that thought. You thought you knew Alexia and you really thought that was something she would never do to you. As much as you didnât want to accept and admit it, it made the most sense with how sheâd started treating you and acting around you. All those times when youâd see that sweet, loving and caring side to Alexia again, was filled with the thoughts that she was only being that way to you out of guilt.
âAmor, just donât wait up,â Alexia couldnât bring herself to look at you or to answer your question, though for you her no answer was an answer in itself, telling you what you subconsciously already knew.
âNo, Alexia, Iâm sick of feeling like a chore you donât want to do. Iâm tired of being a second choice. If Iâd known this is how youâd end up treating me, I wouldâve never said yes when you asked me to be your girlfriend. You donât treat someone you love this way, Alexia, unless,â Your voice trailed off, mind spiralling out of control and letting your emotions take over, âAle,â Tears pricked at your eyes but you were determined to not let them fall. You didnât want to let them fall, to be vulnerable in front of Alexia. But you wanted her to see how much sheâs hurt you, even if you donât think sheâd feel bad for what sheâs done.
As soon as you heard the door to your apartment shut, the tears started streaming down your face. You were heartbroken in a country that youâd only been living in for three years, around people you werenât 100% comfortable around while in this state. You were yearning for the safety of your sister's arms, she always knew how to help you and make you feel better.Â
Your older sister, despite being quite close in age, had always been quite protective over you. Sheâd been there for you throughout your previous heartbreaks and rejections, promising to always keep you safe and reassuring you that you were always loved. As long as you had your older sister, nothing could hurt you that much.
While laying in your bed, staring up at the ceiling, you knew that you couldnât stay here right now. You couldnât be alone, you didnât want to feel alone or lonely and you just wanted a break from your mind that continued to spiral and plague your mind with unpleasant thoughts about you and Alexia, but mainly about yourself.
You didnât give anyone room to argue or negotiate with you when you said you needed to take a week away for personal reasons. At this point you didnât care if you were benched the rest of the season or if something else happened. You were focused on doing what was best for yourself. Right now you couldnât stay in Barcelona, you couldnât go back to the club and have to face Alexia right now.Â
Before you knew it, before anyone else knew it, you were on your way back to London. Navigating your way through the familiar city and finding yourself at the door of the apartment that felt like home, âKatie whatâs wrong with me?â The only words you managed to get out before you wrapped your arms around your sister and let all your emotions out.
Katie didnât have the time to process that you were here, at her apartment, crying in her arms. The last she knew you were supposed to be in Barcelona. From what youâd told her, you were thriving. That wasnât a complete lie, you were thriving in football at Barcelona. But youâd neglected to let yourself lean on anyone during the last six months. Not wanting to accept that your relationship was failing and wanting to live in the delusion that you could fix the drift that was occurring between you and Alexia.
Which led you to not telling anyone you were close with, sure some of the girls at Barcelona had noticed the growing rift between you and Alexia, but you always dismissed anyoneâs worries or concerns. Not talking about it was the only thing you had to lean on. In the end it didnât work out for you, making you go all the way to London to try to accept the one thing youâd been dreading coming true the last few months.
Katie managed to move the both of you from the front door to the couch, sitting down with you almost in her lap. Sheâd never seen you look so small, the vacant look in your eyes while the tears fell silently down your face. Until you were able to calm yourself down all Katie could do was hold you and rub your back gently, whispering that sheâs here and youâre okay.
But you werenât okay, at this moment you didnât know if you would ever be okay again. The irrational part of your brain taking over, any sense of rationality you wouldâve had was long taken over by your emotions. Eventually youâre breathing evened out and the tears slowed, not stopping completely but less than before.Â
âI donât wanna talk about it,â Your voice was small and raspy from all the crying youâd done. You thought you mightâve been overreacting the whole situation, but the more you thought about the other night and the last six months in general, you realised that you werenât overreacting. Even if neither you or Alexia had said the words out loud, you knew what you both shared was over and it had been for a while now.
âWhenever youâre ready, I got you,â A promise that Katie would never break, especially when it came to you. You were both the closest in age in your family, you both loved football, you both just had this bond that nothing could ever compare to it.Â
âAnd just kick the ball, like this,â You watched your older sister intently while she taught you everything she was learning. Every week youâd cheer on your sister at her games, always in awe of how good you thought she was. Especially when sheâd taken out and was better than that one boy that had been calling you names at school.Â
You begged your mam to buy you your own football and you instantly found Katie when youâd gotten home that day showing her what you bought, âI wanna be just like you,âÂ
âI think, maybe you might be better than me one day,â From then on, anyone would find you and Katie in the yard, kicking around the ball, playing little scrimmages just the two of you. Even if Katie would always win when it was the two of you messing around, it made you work harder until the day you managed to beat your older sister.Â
âDo you think one day weâd play for Ireland together? Do you think Iâm good enough to?â You and Katie were both a bit older now. Katie had played a few times in the youth teams for Ireland and the moment you saw your sister wearing the Ireland kit, you knew thatâs what you wanted. You wanted to do that and you wanted it to be alongside your sister.Â
âOne day the whole world will know who the McCabe sisters are,â You both laughed while laying outside looking up at the sky. A dream you both shared, playing for Ireland together, one that eventually came true. From being kids messing around, always with a ball at your feet, to living out your dreams together.Â
Eventually you told Katie everything that had happened between you and Alexia, recalling every last thing from the last six months. Katie hated how you were still downplaying how Alexia had treated you and constantly making excuses and defending her. But she could see how much you were hurting, sheâd give you a reality check another day but for now sheâd hold back.
Despite everything, you still love Alexia. You love her to the point you feel guilty saying anything bad about her, because there were lots of good moments, lots of times where she made you feel loved. You didnât want that to be forgotten, you didnât want to forget that. You didnât want the last six months to completely take away from the year and a half before, when everything with Alexia was perfect.
You were surprised at your sister's reaction, honestly thinking youâd have to hold her back from getting on the next flight to Barcelona and tracking Alexia down to give her a piece of her mind. Instead Katie wrapped her arms around you and made you promise to not shut her or anyone out again.Â
Those words played through your mind when it was night and you were trying to sleep, but every time you closed your eyes you were plagued with memories of you and Alexia. The memories were almost like nightmares now, the what couldâve been but now was never going to be a reality.Â
âKatie,â You whispered, slowly opening the door to her bedroom.
âWhatâs up lil mac?â Katie whispered, with a small smile at the nickname sheâd given you, but the smile fell when she took in the state of you.Â
âI-I donât wanna be alone,â Your voice is small, eyes glazed over, tears threatening to fall and a permanent frown etched onto your face. Nervously playing with your fingers, almost ready to apologise for waking your older sister when you knew she had an important match the next day.
âCome here,â Katie moved over and lifted the sheets so you could slide in next to her. The moment your head fell against her chest, you couldnât stop the tears from falling. No words were needed between you and Katie, itâs like she just understood you. Wiping your tears away and letting you sleep in her bed with her. She didnât have to know youâd just had your heart broken for the first time. She didnât need to know that you felt like you couldnât tell anyone because it was the first girl youâd secretly dated. Katie never asked questions, just held you and let you sleep in her bed whenever you needed her.
âI canât stop thinking about her. Every time I close my eyes. Every time I lay in bed and sheâs not there next to me,â You paused, taking a deep breath, âThereâs this weird, uncomfortable, feeling in my stomach and I donât know what to do. I feel so alone, I just want Ale but I shouldnât want her but I do,âÂ
You hadnât slept much the last few nights while staying with Katie. It was noticeable with the darkening circles under your eyes. Even if towards the end Alexia had almost completely stopped sleeping in the same bed as you, youâd still spent over a year sharing a bed with someone and to know that youâd never share the same one with her had you craving for her touch.Â
All you wanted was for Alexia to hold you again, to tell you everything was going to be okay, that the two of you were okay. You knew that wasnât going to happen, but you still wished it would. You wished you would wake up from this nightmare, go back to Barcelona and Alexia would be for you waiting at your apartment. Youâd fall into her arms, the ones that always made you feel safe and wanted until they didnât anymore. Feelings were cruel and you wished for nothing more than to stop feeling, but you couldnât turn that part of you off, no matter how hard you tried.Â
âItâs okay to still want her, even if you feel it isnât the right thing. You spent a long time together and itâs completely understandable. I know Iâm just your sister and Iâm not Alexia but you can sleep here so maybe it might help you not feel so alone,â Katie spoke softly, if you were in a better mood the softness of your sisters voice would be amusing, not realising Katie could make her voice be that soft or quiet, âIt wonât be easy, but youâre one of the strongest people I know. Plus you got me and we make a good team,â
Katie was right about that. The rest of your week with Katie really helped. Though one week was definitely not enough and you were dreading going back to your apartment in Barcelona. The uneasy feelings of not knowing what you were about to be facing once you returned to the city you have called home for the last three years now. Would Alexia be there? Part of you hoped that she would be, having realised that you were all she needed and ready to apologise for how sheâs treated you. The sad part is if she did that, you would take her back in a heartbeat, despite your head telling you no you would listen to what your heart wanted.
But when you arrived back at your apartment you didnât have to worry about that. The only thing you had to worry about was the way your chest felt unbearably heavy and like a weight had dropped to the bottom of your stomach. Katie had travelled with you to make sure you were okay being back in Barcelona, she didnât miss the way your body tensed and you froze when you rounded the corner and your front door came into view.
The closer you got you could see the contents of the box that carelessly sat in front of your door. Everything that you had at Alexiaâs, including the gifts you had made and bought for her during your relationship. The realisation that your relationship really was over came crashing down over you. Too much for you to handle so Katie picked up the box, opened your apartment door and took care of everything you needed her to do.
You sat down on the couch in the living room while Katie went around getting rid of everything she knew that would remind you of Alexia. A lot of the things were quite obvious, like pictures of you and Alexia all over your apartment, items from the holidays youâd told Katie all about and hoodies and barca training gear that definitely wasnât yours. Katie didnât fully get rid of it all, instead putting it into a box and hiding it away knowing that you would want to decide the fate of the items when you could think more rationally.
âAre you sure youâre gonna be okay?â Katie asked for the millionth time before she had to leave you to go back to London. You rolled your eyes playfully, even though you were dreading going back to training and seeing Alexia for the first time since that night she left, you were feeling better than you were a week ago. Youâd smiled the first time again and were joking around with your older sister. Signs that made Katie feel relief, but still worried about leaving you.
âIâll do my best, you know that,â You were genuine. You knew, in the back of your mind, that you werenât going to crumble and fall apart. There were going to be tough moments, but you had your sister and you had your friends within Barcelona, âI promise to call you if I need to, I wonât push you away,â You were going to be okay and you genuinely believed that.

Bench Naps
Teen!R x Arsenal
Warnings: general sickness things.
Notes: Here you go @scribblesofagoonerr 1k words
âOh honey, we arenât in a good way are we?â Steph said as she slipped into the seat next to you, you immediately curled into her side, the team had been messaged by Katie and Caitlin warning them about your sickness and they weren't wrong with just how sick you were. You had just about every flu symptom. Sore throat, body aches, pounding head, blocked nose. Despite your raging fever, your body shivered, Your body ached, âhave you had some medicine,â Steph asked you, causing Kyra to groan.
âYes, and Katie and Caitlin make her a smoothie so she ate something, even though she did almost throw it back up and they put tissues in her pockets and some more medicine for later, as well as her asthma puffer,â Kyra complained.
âIf youâd just stayed at your own house-â you began to croak out but a cough interrupted you, causing Steph to hand you some water, Kyra just huffing and walking away, however the water didnât help and very quickly Steph was pulling out your puffer.
âOkay, deep breaths, thatâs it,â Steph said before placing it in your mouth and pushing the cylinder down, dispensing the medication, hoping to prevent a full blown asthma attack.
-
You stumbled slightly as you stood up out of your seat, the dizziness threatening to send you to the ground, after a short break of standing still and with Steph's help you managed to make it into the locker room having stayed on your own two feet for the whole way, before collapsing back in your locker, staying there until it was time for the game to start
-
You sat in your seat on the bench sideways, next to Lia who was on the bench for the first half of the game. You were curled up in a little ball, you lent your side into the back of the chair and your head lolled against your knees and the chair. Your body was wrapped in one of the sub puffer jackets, and yet you still felt cold. Katie, still feeling very concerned about your less than usual behaviour, decided to donate her jacket to you, placing it over your body before placing a kiss on your forehead, wincing at the heat still radiating off your body despite the additional dose of medicine the medics had given you. Your asthma puffer along with a spacer sat between you and Lia, the medics deciding it was best if you had a spacer after your episode on the bus, your water bottle sat alongside it.
-
Waking up and looking at the clock youâd realised you mustâve fallen asleep, there was only 5 minutes left of the first half. Suddenly your body was overtaken by extreme nausea and you jumped out of your seat, causing the jacket Katie gave you to fall to the ground, ignoring the black spots developing in your vision you stumbled your way into the locker room, trying to save yourself the embarrassment of throwing up in front of a sold out Joie Stadium, you managed to find yourself a bin in the locker room, hunching over it you began to lose the very little amount of food youâd had that day.
âYouâre okay y/n/n, itâs okay, just let it all out,â Lia said as her hand rubbed your back, sheâd obviously followed you into the locker room.
-
Leah was being subbed off at half time, and offered to sit next to you until she realised you had a sick bag with you, and she completely retreated from that offer, sitting as far away as possible on the bench, she was known for not having the strongest stomach on the team. So you ended up next to Katie, sheâd managed to convince you to lie down, your head on her lap, the rest of your body curled up in your seat, the sick bag now laying beside your head. You very quickly fell asleep again, your body absolutely exhausted from trying to fight off the bug you had, youâd stayed asleep for the whole of the second half, and Katie decided to carry you to the bus immediately after the final whistle was blown, hoping to avoid the fans and keep you asleep. Katie had been successful in her mission, you having stayed asleep for the whole trip home, slightly raising the concerns of the older girls, however the medics telling them it was good, it was a sign your body was fighting off your illness. Katie decided to just carry you to the car, placing you in the front seat as it was easier, Caitlin and Kyra sitting in the back, they dropped Kyra off to her own house on the way home, knowing you would prefer her not to be around due to her pest-y habits.
âHey chicken, can you wake up for me?â Caitlin asked you, noticing you were half awake now.
âCait,â you mumbled.
âYeah Iâm here, let's get you inside, Katie is running you a bath,â
âmâkayâ you replied slightly incoherently, and Caitlin helped you inside, supporting most of your body weight.Â
-
You tossed and turned, not being able to fall asleep, feeling too sick to do so. So you decided to venture out to the living room where you knew Katie and Caitlin were.Â
âEverything okay chick?â Katie asked concerned as you entered the living room, clutching your pillow to your chest and one of your blankets trailing behind you,Â
âI canât sleep,â you replied tearfully.
âThatâs okay chicken, how bout you come lie down here next to me and see if that helps,â you nodded before making your way over to her, Katie took your pillow and angled it up against her thigh before you lied down your blanket wrapping around you, with the familiar presence of Katie and Caitlin and Katieâs comforting hand on your back you were able to drift back asleep again.

Unseen, Unwanted, Indifferent
Leah Williamson x McCabe!reader
Warnings: Pure angst
Read part 1&2 here-You see me Wanted,Unwanted
The makeup wipe snagged on a stray eyelash, leaving a black streak against your cheek. Frustration bubbled up, mirroring the turmoil in your stomach. Leah's birthday party was in two hours, and doubt gnawed at you like a hungry rat.
The vintage Thiery Henry jersey framed in corner of your room, the one you didn't even debate on gifting to Leah, suddenly felt childish, a relic from a past life before Leah. A life where "pretty enough" wasn't a constant mantra echoing in your head.
What if she didn't like it," "What if she wanted you to buy her a fancy necklace...a ring...a bracelet, not a jersey that had been hanging up in your bedroom since you were seven." You shook your head "She'll love it her Mam said so."
You forced a smile, the reflection in the mirror unconvincing. Leah's Mam might have said it, but sometimes moms sugarcoated things, especially when it came to their precious daughters. You gnawed on your lip, the familiar metallic tang a grounding presence.
The jersey, a faded crimson with the legendary "14" emblazoned on the back, held memories. Memories of childhood afternoons spent glued to the TV, mesmerized by Henry's lightning-fast runs and audacious goals. It wasn't just a jersey; it was a symbol of a passion you shared with Leah, a connection forged over the love for a team, and the idolisation of the same player.
Taking a deep breath. Maybe it wasn't a diamond necklace, but it was genuine. You weren't some sugar daddy showering Leah with trinkets, you were her girlfriend, someone who understood the pure joy of a perfectly placed volley.
Suddenly, a different fear pricked at you. What if you weren't good enough to attend her party as her girlfriend, you were quite and happy to fade into the back with your small circle, Leah was a social butterfly, someone who didn't mind attention and fed off it well, were you good enough for her.
You rang out your hands shaking your head, of course, you were you had to be she wouldn't be dating you this long if she didn't think you were good enough for her, pretty enough for her, right?
"She loves me, she said so herself," you whispered to yourself as you looked at yourself in the mirror again before turning to the clock.
The pep talk you delivered yourself wasn't entirely convincing. You grabbed the frame, the crimson a little duller under the harsh light, and held it against your chest. It felt reassuringly familiar, the worn fabric whispering stories of epic matches and shared cheers.
Grabbing your phone, you scrolled through Leah's social media. Pictures of her beaming next to the girls, all perfectly styled and radiating confidence, filled the screen. Each one felt like a tiny jab of doubt. But then, tucked between selfies with the Arsenal, Lioness and Milton Keynes friends, was a picture of you two, arms linked, celebrating a goal during a recent match. Leah's smile was genuine, her eyes crinkled with laughter, focused solely on you.
"She loves you," you breathed, a mantra against the storm brewing inside.
Taking a deep breath, you messaged Leah. "On my way! Can't wait to celebrate with you." A heart emoji followed a small gesture that felt significant right now.
Arriving into the private room the music thumps loudly in your ears as you search for someone you might know, your sister or Leah preferably.
The door swung shut behind you, plunging you into a cacophony of pulsing music and excited chatter. Strobe lights cast the room in a dizzying array of colors, momentarily obscuring the faces in the crowd. The vintage jersey felt heavy against your chest, a symbol of your anxieties more than a birthday gift.
A knot formed in your stomach as you scanned the room. Faces blurred together â a sea of unfamiliar laughter and flashing smiles. Panic clawed at your throat. Where was Leah? Where was anyone you recognized?
Just as despair threatened to engulf you, a familiar figure emerged from the throng. Your sister, clad in a brightly colored dress that clashed spectacularly with the club's dim lighting, spotted you and waved enthusiastically, a beacon in the sea of strangers. Relief washed over you as you hurried towards her, the pounding music muted by the whoosh of returning confidence.
"Hey you!" Katie greeted you with a hug, her voice barely audible over the music. "There you are! I was starting to think you got lost."
"Almost did," you admitted, a nervous laugh escaping your lips. You cast a glance around the room again, searching for Leah amongst the dancing bodies. "Have you seen Leah?"
"She's over by the food table," your sister pointed towards the opposite corner of the room. "Looks like she's being swarmed by admirers." She gave you a knowing wink.
A pang of insecurity flickered within you. Images of Leah's social media feed flashed in your mind â the dazzling smiles, the effortless coolness of her friends. Would you be overshadowed by the crowd? Were you good enough for her world?
Taking a steadying breath, you squared your shoulders. You weren't here to compete. You were here for Leah, for the shared passion that transcended the glitz and the noise. With a newfound determination, you thanked your sister and weaved your way through the throng of dancing bodies, the pulsating music thrumming in your chest, a rhythm that echoed the beat of your own heart.
Katie nudged you "Come on, I've actually got a surprise for you." You looked at her brows pushed together in confusion. Surprise. What surprise ? it wasn't your birthday.
You smiled as you arrived in front of Leah, butterflies erupting as she turned to look at you her own smile seeming to grow ten times bigger, suddenly every doubt you'd had throughout the night had disappeared and was replaced by swells of butterflies lots and lots of butterflies.
Leah moved pulling you into a tight hug "I was starting to think you might never show." You shook your head "I wouldn't miss it for anything." Leah squeezed your hand looking down at the frame before looking at Katie as the Irish girl cleared her throat.
"Before Y/n gives you her present, I thought I would give you mine." Katie paused as Leah felt her heart sink, squeezing your hand to gain your attention you turned still smiling only for it to falter at the look on the older girl's face "Y/n..I...I'm so sorry." You titled your head slightly confusion written across your face as Katie began to speak again.
"I never thought you would go through with it mate, but the fact you have made Y/n fall so hard for you is impressive, what's even more impressive is the fact you've strung her along for this long., so without further a do, here the 100 pounds for holding up your end of the deal, and here's an extra 50 just for keeping it going for so long, fair play."
You flicked your head between Leah and Katie trying to figure out what was going on.
The air hung heavy with betrayal. The pulsating music seemed to mock you, a cruel soundtrack to your shattering world. Leah's hand, moments ago warm and welcoming, felt clammy and distant in yours. You fought the urge to yank it free, the familiar crimson of the jersey a burning reminder of your misplaced trust.
A million questions swirled in your mind, threatening to drown you. But all that escaped your lips was a choked whisper, "Leah?"
Her gaze wouldn't meet yours. Shame, or maybe something more sinister, flickered across her face before she mumbled an apology, its sincerity lost in the deafening silence that had descended upon the small group.
"What's going on, what is she talking about." Leah wouldn't look at you so you looked at Katie "Katie." Katie let out a laugh at the look on your face "Wow Le you really got her good, she looks so heartbroken."
The world tilted on its axis. The laughter you heard morphed into a distorted jeer, the music into a relentless cacophony. Your heart hammered a frantic rhythm against your ribs, mirroring the frantic beat of a trapped bird.
Leah's silence was an accusation in itself. The warmth of her hug just moments ago felt like a cruel mirage. You clutched the jersey tighter, a shield against the icy tendrils of betrayal that snaked their way through you.
Finally, forcing your voice past the lump in your throat, you rasped, "Leah, please... tell me it's not true." You yearned for her to deny it, to laugh it off as some elaborate, misguided prank. But the hollowness in her eyes confirmed your worst fears.
Shame burned hot on your cheeks. How could you have been so blind? The self-doubt that had gnawed at you all night morphed into a monstrous realisation â you hadn't been paranoid, you'd just been too trusting.
Anger, hot and fierce, bubbled up within you. Katie's smug laughter grated on your nerves. "A bet, You were a bet." The words tumbled out, laced with laughter and a humour that surprised you.
Katie's words hung in the air, a cruel punchline to a terrible joke. A hundred pounds. A bet. You weren't Leah's girlfriend. You were a pawn in some twisted game. The vintage jersey, a symbol of shared passion moments ago, now felt heavy with the weight of a lie.
Heat flooded your cheeks, a burning tide of humiliation. You wanted to curl up into a ball, to cry to disappear from Leah, Katie, and the entire room that seemed to be closing in on you. But there was no hole to swallow you up. All you could manage was a choked laugh, a pathetic sound that echoed your shattered heart.
Leah, her face now pale, stammered something, an apology maybe, but it was lost in the roaring storm of emotions within you. You didn't need to hear it. You saw the truth reflected in her eyes â a truth far uglier than any betrayal. Pity, perhaps. Regret, at most. But no love.
âI mean come on pal hardly you actually thought that.â Katie smiled at you "Why would she choose you, for crying out loud she didn't even know who you were till you came off your loan, that's how how unseen you are."
You straighten your back, the framed jersey suddenly feeling foreign in your hands. Mustering all your strength, you meet Katie's gaze, your voice surprisingly steady. "A hundred pounds? That's all I was worth to you, Leah?"
Leah flinches, her eyes welling up. You wait for a denial, an explanation, anything. But there's nothing. The silence stretches, punctuated only by the throbbing music that seems to mock your pain.
The familiar metallic tang of blood filled your mouth as you bit down on your lip. You needed to escape. The pulsating music, the flashing lights, the throng of oblivious dancers, it all felt suffocating. You couldn't breathe, couldn't think.
With a strength born of desperation, you shove the frame into Leah's hands muttering a small happy birthday before pushing past her, ignoring her outstretched hand, ignoring Katie's voice calling after you. Your vision blurred with unshed tears as you weaved through the crowd, the thumping music a dull counterpoint to the storm raging inside.
Reaching the doorway, you stumbled out into the cool night air, the sudden quiet a physical blow. Gasping for breath, you leaned against the wall. What were you meant to do now.
Inside Amanda came pushing through the Arsenal girls before reaching her daughter âWhere is she off to then we are about to do the cake.â Leah turned to look at her mum cheeks blotchy and tears in her eyes âMumâŚ.i.â
The words poured out of Leah's mouth like a waterfall as she explained the horrible bet to Amanda, who began to feel nauseous at the thought of her daughter being so cruel, to you, the girl who was so scared to meet them, you who felt to unimportant to sit in the living room with them you would prefer to hold up the doorway, her daughter had just broken the heart of the most genuine kind girl she had met, in the most horrible way possible.
"I'm sorry you did what." Leah's eyes dropped to the ground unable to look at her mother's disappointed face. "I.....Leah of all the things and to Y/n.....Y/n she god Leah she was it she was your one....she's the one we all wanted the one we were all gunning for how.....how could you be so cruel and to Y/n I'm so disappointed, I actually can't even look at you." Leah turned âMumâŚI.â But Amanda was gone.
The cool night air slapped you awake, a stark contrast to the suffocating heat of the club. Tears welled up again, blurring the neon glow of the street signs. A hundred pounds. A bet. The words echoed in your head, a relentless drumbeat drowning out everything else.
Suddenly, a hand touched your shoulder. You flinched, expecting Leah, but it was your sister, Katie, a worried frown etched on her face. "Y/n, wait!"
You glared at her, the anger a hot coal in your chest. "Don't even try it, Katie."
"Look, I know this is messed up," she began, but you cut her off.
"Messed up? That's an understatement." Your voice trembled, but you held her gaze. "How could Leah do this? How could you?"
Katie sighed, her shoulders slumping. "It was stupid, a stupid bet. I never thought she'd actually go through with it."
You scoffed. "Right, because Leah is Miss Perfect, incapable of making bad choices." The sarcasm dripped from your voice.
"She is a good person, Y/n," Katie insisted, but the conviction was lacking.
You shook your head, the betrayal cutting deep. "No, she's not. Not if she can treat someone like a pawn in some sick game."
"You're supposed to be my sister, I thought when I finally got to Arsenal you might love me as much as the others, that we could be actual sisters." Katie looked at your face full of regret "I do love you Y/n." You shook your head "No you don't, if you loved me you wouldn't have ever done this to me, you would never do this to Ella, or Lauryn would you?."
Katie reached out, but you flinched away. "Don't touch me."
Katie felt the guilt begin to eat away at her "Let me at least bring you home." You shook your head stepping away from her a single tear running down your cheek "No need I already called Mam."
Katie's eyebrows pushed together in confusion "Mam's at home." You smiled sadly at her "No she's not she flew out last night, i thought it was time she meet my girlfriend."
Katie felt nauseous as she began to realise just how far this sick joke had gone, you really fell in love.
âYou really love her.â Katie said surprised, you nodded as tears began to roll down your cheeks âShe is the first person that saw me, in the chaos of our lives she saw me, She wanted me for the first time in my life I was wanted, picked by someone who wasnât my parents or my siblings because the felt bad, or so I thought turns out sheâs indifferent, Iâm nothing to her but 100 pounds.â Katie went to step forward again but turned at the sound of your Mam shouting. âLeave her alone right now Katie McCabe or so help me god.â
âMam.â Your Mother shook her head âI donât want to hear a word from you do you understand.â Katie shut her mouth nodding as she dropped her head.
You threw yourself into her arms, the dam breaking as you sobbed into her shoulder. The betrayal, the humiliation, the pain â it all came pouring out in a torrent of tears.
Your mom held you tight, her voice a soothing balm. "It's okay, love. Let it all out."
Katie watched from a distance, the weight of her guilt crushing her. The prank that started as a harmless joke had spiralled into a devastating betrayal. She had hurt you, her own sister, and she knew she might never be able to make things right.
Your mother held you for what felt like hours, whispering reassurances as you choked out sobs. The city lights blurred through the veil of your tears, each flicker reflecting a shard of your shattered heart. Finally, your cries subsided into hiccups, leaving behind a raw ache and a dull throbbing in your head.
Pulling back, your mother cupped your tear-streaked face, her eyes filled with a fierce protectiveness. "Why they did this, sweetheart, is because they're cruel and shallow. But their actions don't define your worth. You, Y/n, are strong, kind, and deserving of real love. Don't you ever forget that."
Her words, laced with love and unwavering belief, were a soothing balm to your wounded spirit. You leaned into her touch, finding solace in the familiar warmth. Taking a shaky breath, you wiped at your eyes. "I just...don't understand. Why would Leah do this?"
Your mother sighed, a hint of disappointment flickering in her eyes. "Sometimes, people make terrible choices, honey. But Leah will have to live with the consequences of her actions, just like Katie."
You head straight for your room when you get home, ignoring the buzzing of your phone you mutter a quick goodnight to your Mam before shutting your door and crawling under the covers, before beginning to cry again.
Tears streamed down your face, hot and relentless. You should've known. The self-doubt that had gnawed at you all night wasn't paranoia, it was your intuition screaming unheard. A hundred pounds. A bet. You weren't Leah's girlfriend, you were a punchline in a cruel joke.
Anger, hot and fierce, flared within you, momentarily pushing back the tide of sadness. You grabbed your phone, the need to confront Leah burning in your gut. But what was there to say? The silence at the club spoke volumes.
Your thumb hovered over Leah's name, then hovered some more. Finally, with a deep breath, you deleted her contact. A small act of defiance in a night that felt like a complete and utter defeat.
Exhaustion settled over you like a heavy blanket. You curled into a ball, the hollowness in your chest a constant ache. Sleep, when it came, was a restless affair, filled with fragmented memories of flashing lights, pulsating music, and Leah's cold, emotionless eyes.
You awake the next morning to your Mam at your bedroom door saying there was a woman at the door who wanted to talk to you.
You let out a huff tearing off the covers before heading to the kitchen. You stop dead at the sight of Amanda sitting in your kitchen having a cough before your bottom lip starts to wobble.
Amanda jumps up from her seat before wrapping her arms tightly around you "Oh darling I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." You shake your head "I'm sorry too Amanda, I'm so sorry I wasn't good enough for her."
Amanda pulls back, cupping your face gently. "Sweetheart, you are more than good enough. Leah's actions are a reflection of her own shallowness, not your worth. You have a kind heart, a brilliant mind, and a passion that shines brighter than any trophy."
Her words sink in, a flicker of warmth battling the lingering chill of betrayal. You nod, wiping away a stray tear. "Thanks,Amanda."
"Can I get you some tea, love?" she asks, her voice laced with concern.
You nod gratefully, sinking into a chair at the table. As Amanda bustles around the kitchen, you steal a glance at the woman who, until yesterday, was your girlfriend's mother. The sight of her fills you with a mix of emotions â anger, sadness, and a flicker of curiosity.
Amanda returns, placing a steaming mug in front of you. You mutter out a small thank you before clearing your throat "How is she?." Amanda's face softens "Y/n we don't have to..." You shake your head "Please."
She hesitates, her brow furrowed. "She's a mess, to be honest. She told me everything last night, and I was⌠well, let's just say I'm not happy with her. Not one bit."
Relief washes over you, a small comfort amidst the wreckage of your heart. "What did she say?"
Amanda takes a sip of her tea, her gaze distant. "She said it was a stupid bet, that she never meant to hurt you. But frankly, intentions don't matter much when the result is this much pain."
"A hundred pounds. That's all I was worth to her?" Your words come out in a chocked sob.
Amanda reaches across the table, squeezing your hand. "Honey, you are priceless. Don't you ever let anyone tell you differently.
Later that day, your phone buzzes with a message from an unknown number. You open it cautiously, your breath catching in your throat when you see the name: Leah.
The messages are all the same, short and to the point: "Y/n, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
You stare at the screen, a war raging within you. Part of you wants to unleash a torrent of anger, to make her understand the depth of your pain. But another part, a smaller, wounded part, aches for her.
The next few days are a blur. Ignoring your teammates who all seemed to know about the bet, you couldn't help but question if they had been part of it too in opening up and getting to know you, including you in things. Your mam becomes your rock, offering endless cups of tea, movie marathons, and fiercely supportive silences.
You're asleep on the couch when you begin to hear shouting, you sit up rubbing your eyes before going to stand before moving more quickly as you here your Mam let out a shout for someone to leave
Your heart hammered against your ribs as you bolted towards the front door. The shouting was unmistakeable - your Mum's voice laced with anger, and another, muffled voice pleading its case. Bursting into the hallway, you skidded to a stop, taking in the scene before you.
There, on the doorstep, stood Leah. Her eyes were red-rimmed and puffy, her hair a mess, a stark contrast to the composed figure she usually presented. Your Mam, arms crossed and face thunderous, stood blocking the doorway. Amanda stood behind Leah tugging on her arm trying to get her out of your driveway.
"Absolutely not, Leah!" your Mam boomed, her voice echoing in the small hallway. "You had your chance, and you blew it in the most horrendous way."
Leah flinched, tears welling up in her eyes again. "I know, Mrs. McCabe, I know. I was awful, and I deeply regret it. But please, just let me talk to Y/n. I need to apologise properly."
Leah's words die in her throat at the sight of you standing behind your Mam so small, so sad, so broken "Y/n" Your Mam turns immediately and Amanda's hands seem to grip Leah's arm tighter as she goes to step into your house.
You step back as Leah steps forward again "You haven't answered any of my texts...I..." You can't help but laugh internally at Leah's lack of words, but it also feels even more crushing than the night of her birthday party, that's all she can say, that you haven't answered her texts.
The cynical part of you snorts. You clench your fists, the anger threatening to bubble over. But before you can unleash it, your Mam speaks, her voice firm but laced with a hint of sadness.
"Leah, honey, I understand you're sorry. But actions speak louder than words, and yours spoke volumes. Y/n needs time to heal. She trusted you, and you betrayed that trust in a cruel way."
Leah hangs her head, her shoulders slumping in defeat. "I know, Mrs. McCabe. I was an idiot. A terrible person. But please, believe me when I say I never meant to hurt Y/n like this. It started as a stupid bet...a dare, really. But it spiraled, and IâŚ"
"And you let it go on," your Mam finishes, her voice colder now. "You let it go on for who knows how long, playing with Y/n's affections. That's not a mistake, Leah. That's a conscious choice."
The truth hangs heavy in the air, a suffocating weight. Leah opens her mouth to speak, but no words come out. You see a flicker of something in her eyes â regret, maybe, or perhaps just a glimpse of the pain you're feeling mirrored back at you.
Amanda looks at you sadly as she tugs Leah's arm "Come on Le." Leah pulled her arm out of her mum's grip "I love you." You felt your heart sink as your eyes welled up with more tears, shaking your head you stepped out from behind your own mam, "No you don't." Leah shook her head "I do." you stepped forward this time within arm's length.
Leah doesn't hesitate to step closer before putting her hands on your waist and pulling you in, you don't fit it, you can't this is all you've wanted since her birthday so you sink into you wrap your arms around her as she rests her head on your shoulder.
Your voice, laced with a quiet strength that surprised even yourself, cut through the tension. "Love isn't a word you throw around after breaking someone's heart, Leah. Love is about respect, about trust, about building something real together. You built a house of cards on lies, and now you're surprised it crumbled?"
Tears streamed down Leah's face, her voice trembling. "Y/n, please. I know I messed up. I was stupid, and I let pride get the better of me. But the time we spent together, the way you made me laugh, the way you understood my passion for the game... that was real. I never meant for it to go this far."
You scoffed, a humorless sound. "Convenient, isn't it? To pick and choose what parts were real and what were just a game. Because let's be honest, Leah, that's all I ever was to you, wasn't I? A pawn in your little bet."
Leah flinched, but you pressed on, your voice gaining momentum. "Maybe you never meant to 'hurt' me, but you did. You shattered my trust, made me question everything I thought we had. And for what? A hundred pounds and a cheap thrill?"
Silence descended once more, heavy and suffocating. You pulled back seeing the flicker of shame in Leah's eyes, but it did little to ease the ache in your heart.
Leah's lips trembled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I... I care about you, Y/n. I really do."
"Care isn't enough, Leah," you said, your voice steady despite the storm raging within. "You had a chance at something real, something special. You threw it away for a hundred pounds and a cheap laugh. How can I ever trust you again?"
Leah opened her mouth to protest, but your mother's hand on her shoulder silenced her. Amanda gave you a sympathetic smile before ushering a defeated Leah towards the car. As they drove away, you retreated back into the house, the weight of the confrontation settling heavily upon you.
You stood there for a long time, the weight of the encounter settling on you. The betrayal still stung, before you could turn to your mam and begin to cry into her shoulder once more you felt another hand on your shoulder turning, you didn't hesitate before throwing yourself into Mary's arms.
The tears came again, a torrent of hurt and confusion released into Mary's embrace. Mary held you tight, whispering soothing words that did little to penetrate the fog of pain.
"It's okay to cry, love," she murmured. "Let it all out."
You clung to her, the familiar scent of her lavender shampoo grounding you amidst the emotional chaos. The image of Leah's tearful face lingered, her declaration of love a discordant note in the symphony of your heartbreak.
Pulling back slightly, you wiped your glistening cheeks. "Do you think she really cares?"
Mary sighed, a deep breath that spoke volumes. "Honey, sometimes people say things in the heat of the moment, especially when they're trying to win someone back. True remorse takes time and action, not just empty words."
Her words were a balm, a dose of reality amidst the swirling emotions. You hadn't expected Leah's sudden appearance, nor the raw vulnerability she displayed. Part of you ached for the connection you thought you shared, the spark you felt whenever you were together. But the other, more sensible part, echoed your mother's sentiment. Actions spoke louder than words, and Leah's actions had spoken volumes.
You don't return to Arsenal, instead, you attend a meeting with your agent, Jonas and the board at Arsenal, you inform them of your wishes to be transferred this summer and when asked why you tell them everything, from the unwelcoming atmosphere your teammates have had from the start to a stupid bet that destroyed two relationships you really thought you had made since joining.
The air in the sterile conference room was thick with tension. Jonas, your agent, sat beside you, his jaw clenched tight. Across the table, the Arsenal board â a group of stern-faced men in expensive suits â listened intently to your story. You spoke with a quiet strength, your voice betraying a tremor of lingering hurt as you recounted the events of the past week.
From the initial awkwardness with your teammates to the cruel betrayal orchestrated by Leah and Katie, you held back nothing. You even explained how the constant feeling of being an outsider, someone tolerated but not truly welcomed, had chipped away at your confidence.
When you finished, a heavy silence descended upon the room. One of the board members, a man with a salt-and-pepper beard, finally broke it. "This is a serious allegation, Ms. L/N. Do you have any proof of this 'bet' you speak of?"
You shook your head. "No, sir. It was a private conversation. But the way Leah and Katie acted, the way they looked at me⌠it all adds up."
Another board member, a woman with a sharp bob and piercing blue eyes, leaned forward. "And you believe this⌠bet⌠is the reason behind the strained relationship with your teammates?"
"It could be a part of it," you admitted. "Maybe they knew, maybe they didn't. But the overall feeling was⌠unwelcome."
Jonas cleared his throat. "Look, Ms. L/N has a very successful record on the pitch. But a player also needs to feel comfortable off it. This situation clearly isn't working for her."
A murmur of agreement rippled through the board members. The man with the beard steepled his fingers. "We understand your concerns, Ms. L/N and Mr. Hernandez. However, a transfer is a significant decision. We need to explore all options."
The next few minutes were a blur of discussions â potential solutions, alternative clubs, and the financial implications of a transfer. Finally, the woman with the bob spoke up.
"Here's what we can do. We'll launch a discreet investigation into these allegations. If your claims are substantiated, we'll take appropriate disciplinary action against those involved. Additionally, we'll work with the coaching staff to ensure a more inclusive environment for all players."
You exchanged a surprised glance with Jonas. This was more than you expected.
"As for the transfer," she continued, "we understand your desire for a fresh start. We're willing to consider loan offers from reputable clubs, provided they meet our financial requirements."
Relief washed over you. A loan deal wouldn't be ideal, but it would give you a chance to escape the toxic environment at Arsenal and prove yourself elsewhere. You looked at Jonas, silently seeking his advice.
He gave you a quick nod. "That sounds like a fair compromise."
A tense negotiation ensued, with Jonas expertly navigating the complexities of transfer fees and loan agreements. Finally, a deal was struck. You would be loaned to a top-tier Spanish club for the upcoming season, with an option to buy included in the contract.
As you shook hands with the board members, a sense of closure washed over you. This wasn't the fairytale ending you'd envisioned when you signed for Arsenal, but it was a new chapter. A chance to rewrite your story, a chance to rise above the betrayal and prove your worth on the world stage.
You disappear after the meeting, your house is empty you aren't in London or in Dublin, turning down the opportunity to play for Ireland, instead you hide out in Manchester at Mary's, attending solo training as well as Mary's solo training, you don't answer your phone to anyone on the Arsenal squad, Ireland squad, Katie or Leah's no collar id.
When the transfer/loan list is made public your phone blows up once again, you don't answer it until Katie's name flashes up on your screen, you hadn't spoken in weeks but you also knew this was important.
"You're leaving, you're leaving Arsenal, you're leaving." you sigh heading out to sit on the back step "I am." Katie stops for a second before you hear her voice crack "Y/n, I never wanted this, I never wanted you to leave." You shake your head "What did you think was going to happen, that I was going to sit back once again, I've been hurt enough, I have done everything for everyone even if it hurt me and this time I decided not to, I need to stop putting everyone else happiness, their comfortability over my own, I'm done."
There's a small pause before Katie speaks again "Y/n...I never meant for this to happen the way it did, you have to know that." You brush your hands through your hair "I don't, I didn't I'll say the same thing i told you the night of Leah's birthday, you wouldn't do what you did to me to Ella or Lauryn, or any of our other siblings, so I still don't know what I must have done for you to do it to me, what I must have done for you to hate me so much that you thought this would be funny." Katie tried again "Y/n." your bottom lip quivered "I'm tired Katie, so so tired of feeling like this, I don't want to feel like this anymore, I want to be happy, can you just let me go on this loan and let me be happy?" Katie could hear the hurt in your voice and she thought back to every time you finally spoke up and yet still pushed aside for something else, someone else. "Ok." you nod "Where are you going to go." you wiped your tears off your cheek. "I don't know yet, I just need to get out of England." Katie let out a small Oh "You're leaving the league." You smiled softly "If I'm going to give myself the best chance, I need to."
"I'm proud of ya." you laugh slightly "For what." Katie stops "I...I..." You smile softly wiping the stray tear "It's ok, I think I've finally made my peace with that, with this."
Shame burned in Katie's gut. She thought the prank would be harmless, a way to lighten the mood, had backfired spectacularly. You weren't Ella or Lauryn, or any of her other siblings, the ones who could shrug things off. You were Y/n, the quiet observer, the one who carried the weight of the world on your shoulders.
Seeing your vulnerability, the raw pain in your voice as you spoke of wanting happiness, chipped away at the last vestiges of Katie's justification. The truth, stark and ugly, stared back at her. It hadn't been a prank, it had been a cruel act fueled by a childish need to be funny, a way to lash out at the feeling of you constantly wanting to follow her around, do everything she wanted to do, now she realised you did it for comfort, you idolised her so much you wanted to do everything she did like Lauryn had done, so why had it irked her so much that you did the same.
The silence stretched, punctuated only by the ragged sniffles escaping your nose. "I need you to do me a favour, you at least owe me that." Katie nodded franticly before nearly bursting your eardrum accepting "Anything." You wipe your cheeks again cursing internally at how emotional you were.
"When I leave, Leah can't know until I'm gone, she...she can't know until then 'cause I'm not ready to talk to her, please Katie promise me this." Katie agrees, You are right it is the least she can do. "I promise, just go smash it yeah." You let out a small laugh "I'll try."

Different II
Katie McCabe x Teen!Reader
Summary: You get your diagnosis
There's a lot of hoops to jump through to finally work out what's wrong with you.
Mam doesn't like you using those words. She doesn't like referring to it as 'what's wrong with you'. She tells you that you're perfect. Nothing is wrong with you. You're perfect the way you are.
There's nothing wrong. You're jumping through these hoops so Katie can finally understand how to help you.
You meet with the paediatrician who makes follow-up appointments for you with a psychologist and an occupational therapist.
The psychologist rules out things like dyscalculia and dyslexia. She says you don't have anxiety and depression either.
You go to the occupational therapist. He runs you through a series of tests. At first, it's big things like jumping or using a skipping rope before he moves onto the smaller things like holding a paintbrush and placing weird pegs things into small holes.
You go back to the paediatrician.
"Dyspraxia," Katie says that evening as you both sit on her bed together," That's what it's called. Dyspraxia."
"I know," You say," I was in the room with you when we got told."
She's holding the pamphlet and folder that the doctor had given you, explaining all the ins and outs of the condition.
It's nothing that you haven't experienced first-hand. You imagine all of these documents were made for parents of little kids who got diagnosed. You imagine it's more for Katie's benefit than your own.
You know what it's like to live with this condition. You know what to expect and how to adapt.
Katie is the one that will be reading those pages front to back, well into the night even though she's got training the next day.
You're off school for the week.
One of the gas taps in the science laps has started leaking so the whole school was shut down as a precaution.
You're more than happy to tag along to training, stealing one of the muffins from the dining hall to eat by yourself out on the pitch.
"So," Kim says as she sits next to you," I heard from Katie that you finally got that diagnosis."
You shrug. "It's nice to have a name for it now. I think Mam's read that folder at least ten times now. I don't know if she even got any sleep last night."
"That sounds like Katie." Kim nudges you with her knee. "How are you feeling about it?"
"It is what it is," You reply, picking at your muffin," Mam said that she's still trying to take it all in. I don't know if that's good or bad."
Katie had been resistant at first. She hadn't wanted you to get tested for anything. You were perfect the way you were and she didn't want anyone to make you think otherwise.
She was all denial.
Deny, deny, deny.
You were brutal acceptance.
There was something that made you different to the other kids. There was something that made you different to most other people you had ever met.
You don't know now what Katie thinks of your diagnosis, this new label to stick on yourself.
You don't know if it'll change how she thinks of you. If she'll think you're less perfect now that you've got something official to say that you aren't.
"Katie loves you," Kim says," That won't ever change. You're her kid."
"I'm not a kid," You grumble and Kim laughs.
"You're her teenager then," She corrects," But she does love you and all she wants is to give you the best possible life."
"Yeah but-"
"It's not going to change anything," Kim insists," Okay? Katie loves you."
You don't doubt that. You've never doubted that.
You just hope Katie doesn't doubt it either.
She paces in front of you that evening and you hold your breath.
"I've talked to your school," She says," They're working on getting you a school-issued laptop but for the time being you're allowed to bring in one of ours from home. You'll get extra time for your exams and the teachers are going to start giving you more handouts rather than making you write everything up."
"Wait...what?"
"What do you mean what?"
You frown. "Mam...I...I don't get it."
"You're getting accommodations," katie says, sitting right next to you," Because you're different to the other kids and need a bit more support. You're a smart kid. You just need to do things a little differently. We're getting you help."
"Mam, I..." You don't quite know what to say. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me," Katie says," I love you. I'm just making sure you get what you deserve."

All grown up | Alessia Russo x Irish Arsenal!Reader & McFoord x Platonic!Reader
Where you've been with the team since you were young and have always been seen as the baby of the group, even when you aren't the youngest by far, and the team finds out you've grown up when they figure out you're dating Alessia
Woso masterlist | Words: 1.6k
-----
When you first joined Arsenal, you were still a teenager, and quickly your nickname became âthe babyâ as you had been the youngest one on the team. Katie had taken you in when you made the move over from Ireland, you hadnât played together a lot because she had a few years on you, but to have a fellow Irish around made you feel more at home.Â
You were a shy kid, and had a tendency to follow Katie around, at least for the first few months that you were at the club. A lot had changed in all those years since, but you would always be seen as the baby of the group, even when you werenât the youngest anymore by a long shot.
Moving out of Katieâs place hadnât changed much to the dynamic the two of you had. The girl was like an older sister to you, and you still found yourself at her and Caitlinâs place more often than not. Besides the two of them, the team was your family away from family, and you could not be more grateful to have them in your life, but sometimes you would like to be treated like anything besides âthe babyâ of the group.
That is exactly what you found when Alessia joined Arsenal. It was refreshing to see someone treat you the way they treated the rest of the girls. Most girls that joined the team, easily fell into the rhythm of mothering you around, like you werenât a grown adult yourself by now. Not Alessia though.
You had fallen into a different rhythm with her. She wanted to get to know you for you, and not the person everyone saw you as. It wasnât long before the two of you fell for each other and started dating.
Together you decided to keep the relationship hidden from the rest of the team. You knew they would treat your relationship differently than any of the other girls starting one, and you didnât want all the eyes that would be on you, to ruin what you and Alessia had started.Â
âHey Kiddo, are you still coming over for dinner tonight?â Caitlin asked with her arm around your shoulder on the way back to the locker room after practice. âYeah, of course. You know I wouldn't miss it.â She patted your back and moved over to Katie.
You thought you and Alessia had been good at hiding your relationship. Making sure you were the last to leave training so you could slip into Alessiaâs car unnoticed, but Beth had noticed how you would always take forever to get ready and had set her mind on figuring out what was going on. She dragged Steph to the side when they walked to their cars and explained her plan.
Together they watched you and Alessia walk out, happily chatting, and getting into Alessiaâs car before driving off. After seeing this, she decided she was going to watch the two of you closely, to see if she could figure out what was going on.
When you arrived at Alessiaâs apartment you immediately pulled her towards the couch to get in some much needed cuddles. âI hate having to keep my distance from you around the girls.â The blonde wrapped her arms around you and pulled you closer into her side. âI know, love. Have you given any more thought about telling them about us?â
You shook your head, âI donât want what we have to change the moment everyone finds out. They are all so protective, all their eyes would be constantly on us, and I donât want it to feel like our relationship is constantly being watched by the adults.âÂ
Alessia presses a long kiss to your forehead. She sighed softly while running her fingers through your hair. âI get it, they can be a lot. But you know that no matter what they say, Iâm sticking around, right?â You smile and nod, âYeah, I know.â You cuddle up to her further and start a movie.
Once the movie was finished, it was time to head over to Katie and Caitlinâs for dinner. âWant me to drive you home or to Katieâs?â Alessia asked as she got up and stretched her arms out. After checking the time, you opted for Katieâs.Â
At a red light a couple blocks over, you took the time to kiss your girlfriend and thank her for driving you. So, when you got to Katieâs you got out of the car after another quick thank you, so neither Katie or Caitlin would see any of the couply stuff.Â
And good thing you did, because the first thing Katie said as you entered the home was, âWas that Alessiaâs car?â You froze for a split second, thinking she might be onto you. âYeah, we were hanging out and she gave me a ride.â
Katie narrowed her eyes at you in suspicion, but didnât press any further. âAlright, get in here Kiddo. Dinner is almost ready, and Cait is already complaining that Iâm doing it wrong.â You chuckled as Caitlinâs voice rang out from the kitchen, âThatâs because you are!â The tension you were feeling flooded away as soon as you stepped further into the home.Â
After dinner, Katie insisted on driving you home to not let Alessia drive back and forth again. You knew that if you went against her offer, you would only be giving her signs that something was going on between you and Alessia, so you accepted the offer.
Once you got inside you called Alessia to fill her in and ask if she would still come over to your place. When she got there, you were pacing the living room. âDo you think she suspects something?âÂ
âI donât know about Katie, but Beth and Steph are the ones Iâm worried about.â Your head shot up. âWhy?â Alessia sat down and shrugged. âBeth has been giving me these weird looks, like sheâs trying to figure something out. And then when our eyes meet, she quickly starts chatting with Steph, and I donât know, I just feel like theyâre talking about us.â
Alessia realises sheâs only worrying you more with what sheâs saying, so she quickly gets up and moves her hands to your cheeks to get you to focus on her. âWe can handle their teasing, and everything that they can throw our way. Weâre going to be okay no matter what.âÂ
You take a deep breath. âNo matter what.â You repeat her words. Alessia kisses you, before guiding you to your bedroom. âNow, letâs get some sleep.âÂ
The next day at lunch with the team, you sat between Caitlin and Alessia, with Katie, Beth, and Steph sat across from you. The atmosphere in the hall was great, conversations flowed easily at all the tables.Â
Alessiaâs knee brushed against yours and you were trying to focus on Katieâs words instead of the warm feeling that filled your body. Then all of a sudden Beth leaned forward with a sly smile, clearly ready to stir something. She looked directly at you, and you could feel your nerves kicking in instantly.
âSo,â She began, looking from you to Alessia and back. âHow long have the two of you been dating behind our backs?â The table went silent and the whole team was watching you after they heard your fork clatter on your plate.
âWhat?â You stammered, âWhat are you talking about?â
âOh, donât even try to deny it.â Beth smirked. âSteph and I saw you getting in the car with Alessia, looking a little too cosy if you ask me. Weâve all seen the way you two look at each other, and the lingering touches when you think we arenât watching.â
You could feel the heat rising in your cheeks as you were being called out in front of the whole time. âI- We-â You tried to form a coherent sentence, but you had seemingly forgotten how to form one, so you just sighed in defeat and nervously looked over to Katie.
She was leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed, you thought she was going to be mad, but then her smirk grew, matching that of Bethâs. âWell, well, our baby is all grown up.â Caitlin jumped in as well, âGuess that means we can double date now, huh?â
The whole room erupted into laughter and teasing comments. All you could do was sink lower into your seat, and bury your face in your hands. Alessia reached over to squeeze your leg under the table, trying to ground you amidst the chaos Bethâs comment had created.Â
You leaned into her side and buried your face into her chest, blocking everyone from seeing your reddened cheeks. Eventually, Katie reached over and ruffled your hair. âRelax, Kiddo. Weâre happy for you. Russo, youâre coming to dinner next time, alright?â The blonde nodded, not having spoken a word, too afraid to mess up herself. âYeah, ehm, Iâll be there.âÂ
You finally looked up, and glanced around the room. Despite their teasing, you found nothing but love and support on the faces of your teammates. Maybe Alessia had been right, telling them wasnât so bad after all.
âCome on, love birds,â Caitlin said as she got up and put a hand on both of your shoulders, âback to training.â

Santa's Coming To Town
katie mccabe x reader
"Shit!"
The front door swung open, and a wave of panic washed over you. You'd spent the entire afternoon shopping for the perfect Christmas gifts, completely losing track of time. Now, with her arrival, you were faced with a dilemma: how to hide a mountain of presents before she discovered them.
"Babyyy! I'm home!" Her cheerful voice echoed through the house, sending your heart racing. You couldn't let her see the gifts. Not yet. Not until Christmas morning.
"No, no, no," you muttered to yourself, scrambling to think of a solution. Your office, a sanctuary of privacy, seemed like the only safe haven. It was a place where you and Katie respected each other's boundaries, a testament to the trust that formed the bedrock of your relationship.
"Why? Is everything alright?" Katie's voice, filled with concern, drifted from the hallway.
"Yeah, yeah. Just wait for me in the living room. I'll be there in a minute," you replied, your voice barely masking your anxiety.
With a silent prayer, you dashed to your office, the floorboards creaking beneath your hurried footsteps. You piled the gifts onto the desk, a chaotic assortment of wrapped surprises. Each one held a piece of your love and care, a secret promise of joy to come.
Returning to the living room, you tried to compose yourself. Katie's eyes lit up when she saw you, her smile as warm as the holiday season.
"Baby! Were you alright?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine concern.
"Yeah, my love. Just busy," you replied, hoping your nonchalant tone would mask your guilt.
"Busy? So busy you couldn't even spare a moment for a kiss?" she teased, pouting her lips.
You chuckled, pulling her into a tender embrace. "Aw, Katie, I'm sorry. But you'll understand soon enough. Just wait until Christmas."
A spark of curiosity ignited in Katie's eyes. "You got me presents? What are they? Please, just one hint!"
You laughed, knowing this was inevitable. "No, my love. You'll have to wait."
She pouted again, her expression a mix of disappointment and anticipation. "It'll be worth it," you assured her, kissing her softly.
Katie smiled, snuggling into your arms. "I know. With you, it always is."

I Should Hate You
Katie McCabe x Reader
Summary: Katie is tasked with marking you.
Word Count: 1.1k words
You knew that playing Arsenal at the Emirates would be a struggle. The roaring celebratory crowds anytime an Arsenal player started a run. The equally enthusiastic boos every time you and your teammates so much as touched the ball. Nothing out of the ordinary. What you werenât expecting, though, was your current position.Â
âSorry, darlinâ,â says Arsenalâs Irish superstar as she untangles her body from yours. She stands and reaches both of her hands out for you, a small smile on her face. You mightâve appreciated the gesture if she hadnât been on the offensive end of all the fouls youâve encountered during the last 60 minutes. But she has been, so you donât. Instead, you brush her off and pull yourself up before returning to your original position.Â
âThatâs, like, the 10th time sheâs fouled me. I swear she has a personal vendetta against me or something,â you gesture around aimlessly as you take your place next to your best friend.Â
âWhat has she done now?â Lauren James asks with a quiet laugh as she kneels down to retie her boots.Â
âAside from embarrassing me repeatedly for the past hour, she just tripped me. On purpose, probably.â You reach a hand down and help LJ up once she finishes tying her laces.
LJ lets out a laugh at your reply. âRight, well, thatâs called âmarking.â Perhaps youâve heard of it?â LJ squeezes your shoulder with a smirk before the referee blows her whistle, signaling for play to start back up. You share a laugh before attempting to clear your mind and get back into the game. Your attempt starts fruitfully, and you forget all thoughts of your complications with the Irish woman.Â
You begin running up the wing as your teammates initiate an attack. âHeads up!â Erin yells as she sends the ball soaring toward you from the 18-yard box. Before you can even think about your next move, a sharp pain shoots through your ankle and shoulder, and you find yourself on the ground once again. Your teammates shout, and the crowd erupts in deafening boos as the referee shows your assailant a yellow and then points to the spot.Â
âOh, bullshit! I hardly touched her!â exclaims a voice youâve grown all too accustomed to hearing today.Â
âWant to explain why Iâm on the ground then?â Nathalie helps you up as you glare at Katie. âIâm okay,â you assure Nathalie quickly, brushing off her questioning of your fitness and turning back toward the Ireland captain.Â
âI donât know, but I think VARâs about to find out,â Katie states with a smirk (that you wish you could smack off her face) as she raises her eyebrows and gestures behind you before crossing her arms. You turn to see the referee walking to the penalty check screen. An intense suspense fills the stadium as everyone awaits the refereeâs final decision.Â
âHas to go our way. She completely clipped you. Studs up and everything,â speaks your captain, Millie Bright. She joins the swarm of fellow Chelsea players that has now formed around you, the Arsenal players having disbursed.Â
After a thorough review of the penalty decision, the referee swiftly returns to the pitch. With a firm expression, she announces her reversal of the call, awarding the decision in favor of Arsenal.Â
âCome on! That is shit!â Guro shouts as the referee cancels the previously awarded penalty. The thunderous cheers of the Arsenal fans drown out her shouts. The dramatics of the Norwegian winger do nothing to ease your spirits like they usually would. The game ends shortly after, ending in a 3-1 Arsenal win.Â
You deflate, refraining from diplomatically shaking hands with the Arsenal players after the game. Youâre standing off to the side watching a bantering Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord when you sense a presence walking up behind you, followed by the feeling of two hands on your waist. âThink ya better fire your diving instructor,â the voice whispers in your ear before the accompanying hands pull you toward their chest.Â
You pull away from the person completely and turn around to face the Irish woman who has recently been the absolute vain of your existence. âI know that you know that call was fucked,â you say sternly.
Katie mock gasps, raises her eyebrows, and drops her jaw. âYou want us to what?â she jokes and feigns disbelief.
âStop,â you reply with a roll of your eyes. She steps closer to you at this reply.
She laughs, âAh, thatâs not a word I hear too often. The eye roll is a different story.â Youâre unsure if the innuendos were intentional. The way sheâs not even trying to hide biting her lip answers this question for you, though. She smirks again at your lack of response, and you only kind of want to smack it off her face this time. You feel your face heat up as she keeps her eyes trained on yours. You nervously look away and busy yourself watching Niamhâs post-match interview, hoping that Katie will just walk away.
You keep your eyes on Niamh as you feel Katie step close to you again, despite something urging you to turn your head toward the other girl. Katie keeps her hands to herself as she leans close to whisper in your ear this time; her lips brush against your ear as she murmurs, âThe more you try to ignore me, the more I want to be right here.â Your breath catches as her words linger in your ear.Â
Katie pulls away after a tension-filled minute, her expression combining smug delight and amusement. She clearly enjoys the reaction she just pulled out of you. She steals a quick glance at your lips before looking back up at your eyes and holding out one of her hands. Your mind is still whirling from the earlier feeling of having her body so close to yours. You just stare at her outstretched hand.Â
âSee something you like?â she asks as she wiggles her fingers and turns her hand around and back. Your eyes jump back up to hers. âYeah. Your yellow card earlier,â you choke out.
âKatie!â someone yells from behind you before Katie can reply. Probably one of her teammates. You canât be bothered to check. Katie nods at the person before turning back to you. Her hand still outstretched, she reaches for one of yours and shakes it with no help from you.
âUntil next time, love, yeah?â With an ever-present smirk, she finally removes her hand from yours and starts to walk away. âUnless ya donât feel like waiting that long. Up to you,â she winks and joins her teammate (whose identity youâre still unsure of).
Youâre pretty sure she just put the ball in your court.
a/n: first fic đ hopefully it's not terrible. I have mixed feelings about my first post being for an arsenal player but!!! advice is appreciated. thank you alright bye

LOSS - mcfoord
mcfoord x child!reader | ireland doesnât qualify for the euros
little monster masterlist
the energy rippling through the aviva stadium could only be described as electric. the stands, filled almost to the brim by a wave of green, were almost shaking - the sheer noise of the fans bouncing off of every corner.
amongst the chaos and stress of the ireland fans, sat you, perched on caitlinâs lap in the designated âmccabe familyâ box - a mini ireland scarf clutched in your grasp, and a flag painted on your cheek, now rosy with the sheer bitterness of the dublin air.
katie stood on the pitch metres below, proudly wearing the captainâs armband for her country, and doing what she does best - even if that meant making everyone watch whilst wincing as she teetered on the edge of a second yellow card within minutes.
even at two years old, you understood somewhat how important this game, and this team was to her. it was your entire life in fact - your motherâs bursting passion for her country was engrained in you, having been told one night as she tucked you into your âbig girl bedâ, in the softest voice, how much it meant to her to wear the green jersey, how her teamâs hard work was slowly but surely paying off, and, how important it was that you pick ireland over australia, of course.
(the most katie mccabe bed time story imaginable)
and despite how much they both attempted to shield you from the pressure of football, and tonight in particular- you were very much sensing it.
âcan you see your mammy down there? sheâs doing amazing, like alwaysâ caitlin pulled your green (of course) ear defenders away from your head as she whispered in your ear, pointing down to the pitch - whilst rocking you softly, attempting to distract herself from the stress of the game as the minutes dragged on.
the match was only getting more and more intense, every single pass and tackle becoming a battle as ireland fought for a goal, for anything, and wales fought to hold them off. caitlinâs grip on you tightened as full time rapidly approached - leaning forward nervously, as if she could already feel the incoming devastation, as your little eyes darted around, watching every desperate throw in intensely (despite not having a clue what they were doing, you just thought it looked fun)
before long the final whistle blew, and the stadium fell into almost an eerie silence. even your family around you, who had been bellowing and singing the entire time - were completely mute, and that was something youâd never experienced before.
katie practically collapsed down onto her knees on the pitch as the reality sunk in - her face in her hands, sobbing - with many of her fellow players doing the same, their long awaited euros dream well and truly shattered. you simply couldnât grasp why the cheers had stopped, or why they werenât kicking the ball around any more.
âwhy mammy sad?â you turn in the australianâs arms, picking up instantly on her own saddened expression, your tiny voice sounding so loud amongst the quiet - almost piercing the tension with a knife.
caitlinâs heart ached, not only for her partner but also for you, breaking at the idea of explaining this to you when youâd been so excited for weeks about this - adoring absolutely everything that your mammy did, being her little double.
âsheâs a bit upset because her team didnât win.â she spoke gently, âshe really wanted this, like sheâs been telling you.â
you frowned, clutching your scarf tighter, whimpering slightly at the thought of her being sad without you with her to make it better.
âgo there?â you point down to the pitch, shifting to try and climb down, leaning forward to grip the barrier in front of the seat - caitlin almost instantly pulling you back, earning a whine in response.
âletâs wait a little bit pudding, kay? sheâs still on the field, weâll go and find her soon, donât worryâ she stroked your hair softly, suddenly standing up with you balanced on her hip, taking you away from the seats and back inside, away from the chaos for just a moment, bouncing you lightly, knowing all too well that if you can see katie without being able to be with her for a second longer youâll be quickly on your way to a meltdown.
-
after a short while, and the heartbroken ireland team slowly started to filter out of the locker room, not wanting to spend another minute drowning in the overwhelming sadness - katie remained planted in her seat. the sting of this defeat cut her particularly deep, not solely because of the loss, but also because of everything in her that sheâd poured into this campaign, into being captain in general - the sacrifices, the hours of extra training, and the dreams of being the one to lead her country to something bigger, something they deserve - all of it.
sat on the bench with her head in her hands, her chest rose and fell unevenly, and tears continued to stream down her cheeks as every emotion under the sun swirled through her head.
the door swinging open broke her out of her train of thoughts - revealing a very concerned, almost tearful looking caitlin, with you bundled in her arms.
âkatie?â
the irish womanâs head snapped up instantly, her red rimmed eyes meeting the piercingly blue ones of her girlfriend, getting lost in them like she always did. the mere sight of the pair of you - her family, of the little, now smeared ireland flag painted on your face, only made her tears flow faster, the remains of her resolve crumbling.
you wriggled in caitlinâs arms as katie stood up, collecting the remains of her stuff - not wanting to hang around anymore either, reaching out for her desperately.
her arms opened in an instant, allowing you to be passed over into them before even a slight whimper could leave your lips, burying her face into your tiny shoulder as she sobbed a little more, muffled by your warmth, holding you almost impossibly close to her chest.
âitâs okay mammy, no cryâ you babble, your words accenting your wonderfully weirdly blended accent, patting her cheek softly, causing the woman to let out a shaky laugh through her tears. âyou the bestâ your little brow furrowed as you continued, poking at the tears on her cheek, having not quite learned how to âwipe them awayâ properly just yet.
âoh my sweet girl, thank youâ she nuzzled her nose against your cheek, pressing a kiss to your forehead as the three of you made your way slowly towards the car, wanting nothing more than to just be away from all of this.
caitlin watched silently as katie buckled you into your car seat, tickling you softly and kissing your cheek, lingering for a second longer than usual, as if she was delaying the inevitable hard part, where sheâll have to process this without an innocent, clueless toddler to distract her.
âyouâve done so much, love, youâve made them all so proud, youâve made us proud. youâve made that little girl so proud - all sheâs talked about all day is you.â caitlin wrapped her arms around the irish woman almost immediately after she closed your car door, rubbing her back comfortingly.
âthank you baby, i needed that, thank you for being here. i know youâre probably exhausted.â she sniffled, knowing that her girlfriend flew straight from australia to dublin to be here for her - before moving around to the passenger side, an unfamiliar one to her - but she wasnât in the headspace to be in charge of a vehicle, not right now.
the drive back to the hotel (that was more of a stopover before you all head back to london in the morning then anything) was an unfamiliarly quiet one, the mood that settled sombre in stark comparison to the constant loop of âbaby sharkâ, a personal favourite of yours - that boomed out of the speakers in order to keep you content.
-
the evening drew in with a lot of tears and hugs from all three of you at different moments - curled up in the plush of the hotel bed, watching some disney movie youâd all seen a million times over - your parents trying to keep the mood fairly light for you, knowing the walls would come crashing down once you were asleep.
despite this, you could sense that your mammy was still sad. very sad. she usually was constantly playing with you, making you screech with giggles, even when you were meant to be getting ready to go to bed and calming down for the night, but tonight she was just quiet, barely saying a word as caitlin got you ready for bed.
âcome on then sweetheart, sleep time for you, say goodnight to mammyâ your mumma held you and your bottle in her arms, crouching down so katie can kiss and hug you softly.
âmilk?â you ask, words muffled by the dummy between your lips as you hold out your bottle towards her, tilting your head - knowing that that was one thing that always made you feel better, and all you wanted to do was make her happy.
and with that, katie couldnât help but smile, the loss sitting on her shoulder feeling just a little bit lighter.
âi love you, my beautiful little monsterâ

â Like Mother, Like Daughter
After that angst, here's something less angsty...
Let me know what you think about this one! Do you guys prefer fluff or angst?
Pairings: katie mccabe x child reader Warnings: a child being a menace to soceity
You were your mam's mini-me in every sense of the world, from your brunette hair to your own determined demeanor, you were the exact replica of your mammy, and even at a young age, just like Katie, you had a fierce spirit that couldn't be contained.
It was a sunny afternoon in London for a change and deciding to make the most of it, your mam and you decided to take a trip down to the local park to try and burn some of your energy off before it was time to settle down for the night.
Arriving at the park, you were quite happy to join in with the other kids' a bit older than you as you raced around with them, being indepenant that Katie was able to just keep a watchful eye on you from the nearby park bench.
However, it wasn't all too long before trouble approached, when a kid just that bit older than you were, started to make rude comments about you that you just weren't going to stand for.
Without missing a beat, you stepped forward with your tiny fists clenched at your side, "You take dat' back!" you demanded, your voice filled with righteous indignation.
The kid kept on goeding you and before Katie could step in and intervene, you had already launched yourself at them, your punch landing with surprising accuracy for someone so small.
"Y/N!" Katie gasped in shock, rushing towards you to scoop you up into her arms and pull you away from the situation.
"Let me ave' him, mammy!" Your small voice demanded, pounding your tiny fists on your mams' back as you weren't ready to back down just yet, "I can fight him, mammy. I can ake' him!" You insisted.
"No, no, kiddo. We don't hit other people" Katie chided, trying to stifle her own amusement and remembering the fact that she was a responsible parent in this moment, "You need to apologise and say sorry now, please" she motioned to the kid, who was just that bit older than you.
"M' not sorry, he made fun of my accent" You whined pitifully, you never liked it when people made fun out of you, but you were strong enough to hold your ground, "Ou' always told me to stick up for myself, mammy!" you insisted.
It was moments' like this when Katie was in sudden realisation that she couldn't very well tell you off when she was known to get into a few scraps herself on the pitch and you'd been witness to some of them.
After profuseley apologising to the little lad and his mum who wasn't best pleased about it, the two of you left the park in silence.
"I beat him! I beat him!" You boasted happily, running through the front door as you burst into a fit of giggles.
Katie shook her head in amusement, she knew she should discorauge the behaviour but she also couldn't help but feel a sense of pride, "You did, kiddo" she chuckled, "You definitely your ma's girl, eh? Like mother, like daughter" she joked.
