I AM A QUEERPLATONIC BUDDIE TRUTHER AND HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD BE TOO
first of all have you seen evan buckley? that man is the most aromantic bisexual human I have ever seen I will not be elaborating that is simply a fact. jkjk I could write a dissertation on this clearly the bisexuality is very much canon and we know he is sexually attracted to all genders but whenever he's in a romantic relationship he doesn't seem to like it. as an aromantic who has been in several relationships that i absolutely hated but didn't know how to express that or felt like i had to force myself to like it, maybe i'm just projecting, but i see that in buck. he dates so many people throughout the show but he never seems to want to be in those relationships. he moves them forward because of external pressures not his own feelings. even with tommy when he decided to ask him to move in for example he was doing that because that's what he thought he was supposed to do not because he was in love with tommy. i could say more but i digress.
let's talk about the most aromantic asexual firefighter the world has ever seen: edmundo diaz. this man doesn't like dating or sex or any of it. bro got married because he was supposed to and like i know there are people who say it's because he's gay and i'm pretty sure that's what the writers are going for. they're implying that he doesn't like women because he's gay and you can find a bajillion tumblr posts with all the evidence of the fact that he doesn't like women so i'm not going to present it all here. however, unlike buck, we never see him be attracted to men. we see so clearly that he doesn't like women but we never see him crushing on guys (unlike buck clearly thinking guys are hot even before he knew it btw we can see that for sure). for those of you who think he's just crushing on buck that's fine and i see that interpretation too i'm just saying i think he could also just love buck so deeply but not in a romantic or sexual way and to people who haven't experienced that (allos i'm talking to you) they might see it as romantic but it's different because i'm fully projecting onto him because he is me and i am him and that's just how it is broskis.
that was weird anyway buck and eddie are already in a committed partnership. buck is in eddie's will. buck literally broke off his lease to take subletting his apartment off of eddie's plate without even consulting eddie first because even though they were in a fight they have such a basis of trust that buck knows eddie wouldn't say no to him. they do everything together. they are attached at the hip. they facetime when they're apart even though they see each other every day. they're raising a son together.
i feel like if, instead of a romantic buddie confession, we had them talking about the nature of their relationship and recognizing that they were in some sort of non-romantic partnership and it was just explicit it would work so well in the story. it would also be amazing representation but that's besides the point because the point is that it's good for the story not that they should do it for any other factors. like i sort of picture that they have some heartfelt conversation about eddie leaving and then they're like "you know it's weird i don't like you in a romantic way but i feel like we're more than just friends" and it's just an acknowledgement of the fact that there are so many different types of relationships. i would literally die from joy.

I’m obsessed with David and Brad in whatever format they’re presented to me, but I do wish they could’ve had a work and play relationship so badly.
I thought Anna was extremely interesting, but with the limited time we get in each season I still think Brad x david could’ve been actually built upon in a way that made sense. A friends with benefits not actually unrequited loved that’s never really resolved?

confession: a handful of my ships are actually queer platonic or even straight up regular platonic, but i’ve projected my weird strong attraction & affection towards my friends onto characters and it’s a lot easier to know the truth in my heart than to fight with everyone about it. because who the hell will believe me when i say the art of the mario brothers making out is platonic. no one will. they’ll take me for a lying fool

As an asexual aromantic person I ADORE John and Sherlock QPR truthing bc I want what they have but I also truly love the idea that John is actually in full gay love with Sherlock and Sherlock thinks he has a friend for life. Man is ready to risk it all to stay Watson’s friend bc he’s so excited to have someone who’s with him through it all and meanwhile John is actually shaking at the fact Sherlock wants to spend any time with him at all bc he’d kind of like to kiss him on the mouth maybe but only if Sherlock wanted to of course

Relationships in the Dawn Expanse
The native inhabitants of the Dawn Expanse have never had a need for romantic or sexual attraction. Instead, stemming from the cosmological concept of the Dance of One, there are several known types of close relationships and possibly many more unknown. The four most commonly used delineations are Fluidic, Crystalline, Ethereal, and Self-Defining.
Order and Entropy
The Dance of One is the cosmological principle, held as both a scientific truth and a spiritual one, in which all things— living and nonliving— contain both entropy (the ability to exist in multiple states and to increase in complexity over time) and order (the tendency to self-select for those states that are functional and contribute to the greater harmony of the whole), and that these are not opposing tendencies, but the same tendency.
People are not inherently order or entropy aligned. It's not like binary gender. One becomes aligned as a response to one's environment, including those with whom one forms a strong connection, and one's alignment can change based on who one is with as well as in response to environmental conditions.
Fluidic partnerships are symmetrical order/entropy dynamics, built on the acknowledgement that each party has something to teach the other and finding balance with another person can promote balance within oneself. In as much as there is an "ideal" interpersonal structure within the Dawn Expanse, it is the Fluidic pair, which is said to be most reflected in the Dance of One itself.
Crystalline partnerships are asymmetrical order/entropy dynamics in which the order-aligned partner takes the more active role. This interpersonal structure often emerges as an adaptation to stress, during which time focus and precise planning can help to ensure the survival of both parties.
Ethereal partnerships are asymmetrical order/entropy dynamics in which the entropy-aligned partner takes the more active role. While the Crystalline structure is often a response to high stress, the Ethereal structure, by contrast, is a response to low stress and high potential for growth. An Ethereal partnership, at its most harmonious, tends to be a very creative one, with a high level of idea generation.
Most order/entropy dynamics move naturally between Fluidic, Ethereal, and Crystalline states.
Self-Defining partnerships are any interpersonal relationship that doesn't fit with the established structures. They aren't considered any less important or less committed than Fluidic, Crystalline, or Ethereal partnerships. No one in the Dawn Expanse has to sacrifice social legitimacy for personal freedom.
The emphasis on two-person bonds doesn't and shouldn't be taken to imply an emphasis on monogamy. Such a concept doesn't exist in the Dawn Expanse. Two-person bonds are simply the smallest unit of interpersonal connection. Most communities in the Dawn Expanse are networks of pairbonds, of which most people have multiple.
Internals
Internals are those who have a self-regulating balance of order and entropy, and do not require co-regulation. When not in Self-Defining partnerships, they tend to be completely non-partnering. When they choose to integrate into a community, they are fully accepted and often grow over time to be respected counselors and advisors. Others choose to live nomadically, either traveling alone by land or with others as part of a riverfolk clan.
So, where do babies come from?
Inhabitants of the Dawn Expanse will be surprised that this segment is in this document, rather than a document on communities or settlements. However, those in realities where interpersonal relationships and reproduction are closely connected— in particular, those who inhabit realities where reproduction is determined by sexual acts— may be confused by how it works in the Dawn Expanse.
The precise workings of this process are a mystery even to those who study the natural sciences, but what is known is that once a sufficient connection is formed between an individual and the place in which they've settled, the spirit of that place will reach out to them, often in the form of a waking dream. It will then give them a choice of whether they'd like to bring a new life into the world. If they choose to do so, they will be compelled to bury a series of sentimental objects— the nature of which can differ depending on the person and location— in a specific place near the edge of the community, and wait for approximately six months. At the end of that time, the child they chose to contribute to the creation of will come to them, usually in the middle of the night.
The children created by this process appear to be around five years old by human standards when they first appear, and tend to look fairly similar to their contributing parent, but with minor differences that are often clearly inherited from those to whom the contributing parent is closest— friends, pairbonds, and mentors who live within the same community.

hi friend 🩷 i am a huge fan of your joel x reader fics. i have a question that is kind of personal, so please feel free to ignore if you are not comfortable answering. i didn’t realize you were a lesbian until i saw your post for lesbian day of visibility. i am just wondering if/why you enjoy writing joel x reader or any other male character x reader romance/smut stories as a lesbian? or is it like not something you personally are into, you’re just writing bc someone requested it? i truly hope this does not come off as offensive - i am a straight woman so i am truly just curios. again, feel free to ignore if this is too invasive. love you so much, thank you for sharing your stories with us!! 🫶🏻
Hi! I’m so glad you enjoy the fics and this is such an interesting question!!
I do really enjoy writing for Joel and other male characters even as a lesbian!! In my head, I’m writing more for consumption by women (I use this term very loosely to include my friends beyond the binary) and pleasure for women. I grew up reading and writing straight stories (either fic or literature) and so I’ve never really felt strange about reading or writing it now! I think if I’m really drawn in by the story (The Last of Us, Narcos, Daredevil, etc.,) it feels more like an exercise in analyzing character/story details and writing things that I’m personally interested in like I wrote OFTM because I like the idea that Joel could’ve been in a band and they could’ve been successful and then how would that change what his life looks like? I don’t ever feel obligated to write anything and have definitely passed up some requests because I wasn’t comfy writing whatever it was at the time but I genuinely love creating loving, healthy relationships (and making them work a little hard for it) in my stories
For reading male character x reader romance or smut, it’s a thing of knowing it’s, more than likely, written by a woman and a direct expression of female sexuality which is not only empowering but it’s also HOT so while I’m not keen to have sex with someone with a penis irl, it’s still fun to read my silly little smutty stories and kick my feet in bed
I hope this answered your question and thank you so so much for reading and sticking around!!
