first of all have you seen evan buckley? that man is the most aromantic bisexual human I have ever seen I will not be elaborating that is simply a fact. jkjk I could write a dissertation on this clearly the bisexuality is very much canon and we know he is sexually attracted to all genders but whenever he's in a romantic relationship he doesn't seem to like it. as an aromantic who has been in several relationships that i absolutely hated but didn't know how to express that or felt like i had to force myself to like it, maybe i'm just projecting, but i see that in buck. he dates so many people throughout the show but he never seems to want to be in those relationships. he moves them forward because of external pressures not his own feelings. even with tommy when he decided to ask him to move in for example he was doing that because that's what he thought he was supposed to do not because he was in love with tommy. i could say more but i digress.

let's talk about the most aromantic asexual firefighter the world has ever seen: edmundo diaz. this man doesn't like dating or sex or any of it. bro got married because he was supposed to and like i know there are people who say it's because he's gay and i'm pretty sure that's what the writers are going for. they're implying that he doesn't like women because he's gay and you can find a bajillion tumblr posts with all the evidence of the fact that he doesn't like women so i'm not going to present it all here. however, unlike buck, we never see him be attracted to men. we see so clearly that he doesn't like women but we never see him crushing on guys (unlike buck clearly thinking guys are hot even before he knew it btw we can see that for sure). for those of you who think he's just crushing on buck that's fine and i see that interpretation too i'm just saying i think he could also just love buck so deeply but not in a romantic or sexual way and to people who haven't experienced that (allos i'm talking to you) they might see it as romantic but it's different because i'm fully projecting onto him because he is me and i am him and that's just how it is broskis.

that was weird anyway buck and eddie are already in a committed partnership. buck is in eddie's will. buck literally broke off his lease to take subletting his apartment off of eddie's plate without even consulting eddie first because even though they were in a fight they have such a basis of trust that buck knows eddie wouldn't say no to him. they do everything together. they are attached at the hip. they facetime when they're apart even though they see each other every day. they're raising a son together.

i feel like if, instead of a romantic buddie confession, we had them talking about the nature of their relationship and recognizing that they were in some sort of non-romantic partnership and it was just explicit it would work so well in the story. it would also be amazing representation but that's besides the point because the point is that it's good for the story not that they should do it for any other factors. like i sort of picture that they have some heartfelt conversation about eddie leaving and then they're like "you know it's weird i don't like you in a romantic way but i feel like we're more than just friends" and it's just an acknowledgement of the fact that there are so many different types of relationships. i would literally die from joy.

No okay I have something to say about the possibility of Buck going through Slut Era 2.0: Bisexual Edition and it is this. I want it very badly. I do not think it is bad representation. And I do not want the purpose of it to be Finding The One He's Really Meant To Be With, regardless of whether that person is Tommy or Eddie or someone else.

The thing about Buck 1.0 is that he was using sex as a replacement for intimacy, as a way to feel connected and validated and loved in the ways that he was longing for but didn't think he could have. Seven or eight years later, he's in a completely different place. And what I would love, love, love is for him to reconnect with the part of himself that enjoyed casual sex but this time not as someone who is trying to fill a hole in his life but as someone who is having casual sex because it turns out he likes casual sex.

I want the story about how when he's not trying to salvage a sinking ship with it, Buck finds sex fun and fulfilling and joyful as a thing in its own right. Give him a regular FWB partner who cares about and shows up for him without either of them ever expecting their relationship to grow into romance. Give him a steady stream of lovers who make him happy and teach him new things about himself. Let it be a chance to revisit the beliefs he's internalised about himself, to rewrite the story of his past from one where he was a fuck up using people for sex to one that's closer to the truth, that he wasn't getting what he needed but he also wasn't doing anything wrong.

I have so, so many feelings about Buck's history with sex. Buck leaning into the slutty bisexual stereotype to find joy and self acceptance in it would be my absolute dream.

Eddie Diaz as an asexual character would be so fucking heartbreaking to explore. Like here he is with two women and he’s trying desperately to feel something meaningful with either of them. Compulsively performing heterosexuality because that’s all he’s ever known. It’s all that he’s ever considered.

Buck finds out he’s dating multiple women and instead of the breakdown we’re expecting where he tells Buck off or tells Buck it’s none of his business, he ends up telling Buck he just wants to feel something with somebody.

Buck being a baby bisexual hasn’t had time to do a deep dive on the nuances of sexuality. He doesn’t know the terms about asexual and aromantic and the spectrum of labels that can fit in there. His first thought is maybe Eddie just likes men but doesn’t realize it, but Eddie hasn’t ever felt this way about men either. It causes a fight because Buck is allosexual, and he can’t wrap his head around the concept of just not wanting or feeling anything romantically or sexually.

Eddie has always just assumed he was straight. Because there’s nothing there. No attraction. No lust. It’s just nothing. Nothing towards anyone. And he’s so upset. He pushes everyone and everything away. Because he can’t understand why he just can’t feel anything with anyone.

Darrel Curtis Headcanons

Aromantic and Homosexual. This man has definitely cried, thinking something was wrong with him when he couldn't love anyone romantically. He wanted to, he stressed it so much that he wanted to, but he just didn't feel romantic attraction. The only one to not care was Paul and it genuinely crushed Darry when they split. Darry once wondered if Paul was his one exception to never feeling romantic love.

Genuinely, I believe this man is a caretaker at heart. He loves to help take care of the gang, whether it's patching them up, making sure they are fed, or wrapping them up in blankets when it's too cold out. The house has a ton of blankets that Mrs. Curtis started collecting when Darry first brought Two-Bit home. Darry adds to the collection with two blankets every month.

This man has an immune system of steel. Even as a child, he was absolutely never sick. Ponyboy and Sodapop often sulk when they get sick, and they trap Darry into cuddling with them because there is no consequence to it. However, once every year he does get sick now that he's pushing his body to the max limit, and he goes down hard. Ponyboy and Sodapop jump to take care of him, and the rest of the gang helps out too.

Two-Bit Mathews Headcanons

Bisexual and hetero-romantic. He will get fleeting crushes on guys but those "pass easy" for him, and he likes to sleep with them; though he never truly has romantic attraction to them. He prefers to date girls, and those crushes hit him hard and do not pass as easy if he gets attached.

Two-Bit gifted everyone their first switchblade. It has become tradition at some point, but once Two-Bit had, essentially, gifted you your switch, you were officially seen as part of the gang and a greaser. Usually gifted after your first jumping, however after Johnny's jumping (not his first but definitely his worst), Two-Bit gifted one to Ponyboy for his protection.

He's almost never sick, but when he is it's never long. He doesn't like to say he's sick unless he's 'down' for more than a day, which is pretty rare. However when he gets a fever, he's down for at least a week. The gang, once they found out, like to baby Two-Bit a little when he gets a fever and he happens to be around; consequences of the rest of the gang getting sick be damned.

Dallas Winston Headcanons

Token straight of the group. He sometimes feels like he has to 'make up' for the fact some of the gang isn't in to girls, though he tries to ignore this feeling. He likes that there's also 'less competition', something he jokes about with Two-Bit.

This boy freezes! The moment it drops low enough he is just always always always cold. He'll appear at the house and immediately grab three blankets and curl up while shivering pretty hard. At some point the gang will add another blanket and Ponyboy always grabs a hot drink for him to try help.

This man gets sick twice a month during the winter and he hates it. He often tries to hide out at Bucks, but every so often Buck kicks him out for a few days and he's forced to go to the Curtis' house and Sodapop falls into 'mams bear' mode and jumps at taking care of him when Darry's not there.

Steve Randle Headcanons

Straight except for his best friend. I don't know how to put this to words, but he is straight except when it comes to Sodapop. Evie often teases him about it and Steve will deny it every time, but Sodapop also gets away with everything when messing with Steve. Steve does not call out Sodapop's cheating when they play cards nearly enough.

He knows how to wood carve! He likes to carve little animals and items, often gifting them to members of the gang or to Evie. He likes to do slightly bigger pieces for birthdays or for Christmas. He also carefully protects everything the gang gifts him (drawings from Ponyboy, rings from Johnny or Dally, blades from Two-Bit, pictures from Sodapop, and recipes / advice from Darry).

He gets sick three times a year and it's always in the winter and it's only for, like, two or three days at a time. Sodapop just about always demands that he comes over so that the gang could take care of him and he doesn't have to deal with his dad when he's already feeling 'like shit'.

Sodapop Curtis Headcanons

Bisexual king! Sodapop is very much a bisexual, he is also asexual. He often thinks something's wrong with him, but Steve (the only one who knows how Sodapop feels) often reassures him. He is also the most loving person you will ever meet, whether familially, platonically, or romantically.

Photographer Sodapop my beloved! I love the idea of Sodapop being a photographer and being so scared to make it a career for himself despite being really really good. He'll take pictures and develop them and gift them to the gang just because and for fun. He'll also take pictures of birds and flowers for Ponyboy to name and write about. They like working together to create something that informs others.

He's so dramatic when he's sick, so it's obvious when he's really really sick or needs a hospital because he'll go quiet. He'll just be curled up and is deathly quiet because he's trying to 'hide' it and is trying not to cry or react to anything he's failing. Otherwise he's complaining and 'loud' about him being sick. He loves laying against Steve, too, but that's pretty much normal.

Johnny Cade Headcanons

Straight but also Aromantic, except he's particularly close with Ponyboy (qpr pbj my beloved, sorry) and he's never had a girlfriend. Not to say that he's bad at flirting or talking with girls, but he is just really shy and very jumpy. And sometimes he admits that he prefers Ponyboy's company to theirs. Loves to read poems with Ponyboy because they'll talk about the different possible meanings, just like they do with books that Ponyboy reads for them.

Winters are always spent going between the Curtis' house and Two-Bit's house because sleeping out in the lot is not feasible and he doesn't like going home. He loves sitting next to Ponyboy when Ponyboy reads or sitting in the kitchen whenever Ponyboy cooks or bakes. He gets to be taste tester for everything.

When he's sick he gets clingy! But he also is always worried he's being a bother, so it's a constant battle in his head. The gang will often lay with him or sit next to him so that he can cuddle into them without feeling guilty. He also sleeps through being sick (two or three days). He sleeps in a way that doesn't scare the gang into thinking he's dying or dead like Ponyboy does.

Ponyboy Curtis Headcanons

Ponyboy is Aromantic and Asexual! He just likes hanging out with his friends and going to the movies and just being him. It does raise questions with people when they find out he's never had a girlfriend, but he has no difficulty standing up for himself and shutting that down.

He has his Mama's recipes memorized. His loves cooking to her recipes because it makes him feel closer to their mom. All of her cookies recipes he has down to muscle memory, and her soups he only has to check the recipe card twice, but her holiday dinners has him looking at her recipe cards to follow every step perfectly (despite having just about memorized everything). He likes feeling closer to her and seeing the gang melt at the familiar taste and memories are a bonus to him.

When this boy gets sick, he genuinely looks and feels like death. He got a fever once when he was four and ended up in the hospital because he was sleeping so much that it had scared Mrs. Curtis enough to take him in. He was admitted for three days before his fever broke and he was sent home. He was bouncing off the walls with Sodapop within the day of being home. He also gets sick so easily and it worries Darry so much.

As a Group Headcanons

Physical affection is very very common place! It's not uncommon to see one of the gang hanging off of or leaning against someone else. They also like to throw around 'pet names' just to see themselves rile up until they're rough housing.

Outings as a group where they go out to eat and then to the movies or out dances are usually held / reserved for really big achievements (Ponyboy getting to Highschool, Track meet wins, Birthdays, Promotions at work, someone got out of jail, ect...) but they always 'find a reason' once a month, even if there's no real achievement.

Holidays are a big thing with the gang. When their parents were alive, the Curtis brothers would help their parents in the kitchen all day, and the gang would trickle in through out the day (usually starting with Johnny and ending with Two-Bit) and they would all eat at the Curtis house (the Curtis parents really collected the gang as 'extra children' and they treated them as such), and after they died, Ponyboy made sure that they continued the tradition anyways. Of course, at the time, he'd really needed the normalcy even if some of it was gone. Johnny is and always will be taste tester for whoever cooks or bakes.

Okay, since I haven't really shared my thoughts on Buddie here yet. I thought I would share them, not for any particular reason, mostly just so I can get them out of my head. I will also briefly talk about my queer Eddie headcanons.

Okay, let's start with Eddie. Look, I would say that that man is gay, but the way he reacted when he first met Ana was not very homosexual of him. So based on how he acts in canon, I either think he's aromantic bisexual, or homoromantic bisexual (which is rare, but does happen). Personally I'm leaning more toward homoromantic (maybe that's just because I ship him with the hot priest), but I keep aromantic around for funsies.

Anyway, now I'm going to talk about Buddie. I don't ship it. I don't hate the ship, I totally get why people want them together, but I went into the show knowing about Buddie and expecting I would also ship it just for me to not. I tried to ship it, but I never really got into it. When Eddie was first introduced it felt like it could go the romantic way, but then their relationship settled into friendship, and that's all their relationship felt like to me, friendship. I mean, I would joke that they should just kiss already, but not because I actively wanted them together, but because I like drama. I know there are things that aren't typically seen as a friends thing, but a romantic partner thing, that they do. But I kind of loved that Buck and Eddie were doing all these non-traditional things together because they were friends, and that's just how their relationship is. Anyway, I was trying to be in support of Buddie maybe eventually going canon for a while, because I know how much it would mean to other people. But once we were reintroduced to Tommy, all that went flying out the window. Because Buck and Tommy's relationship were giving all the things I felt like I supposed to be feeling about Buddie. I know polyamory is a thing, I think it's great that people ship Buddietommy, but I don't personally have a lot of polyamorous ships, just because I always end up shipping one couple in the trio more than the others, and that doesn't seem fair to the third person. Anyway, I think Buddie got permanently ruined for me after Bucktommy, and especially after how a lot of Buddie fans treated Lou and that relationship. And I know that's not all Buddie fans, I am not judging a whole based on a fraction. I still think Buddie is a good and valid ship, it just isn't for me.

one thing about me is I will headcanon any and every character as some form of asexual, aromantic, or aplatonic because let's face it, there just isn't enough representation and canon content to satisfy

and because honestly any character, regardless of their canon interactions with sex or romance or friendship can still be on any of the spectrums, so there's literally no character that couldn't be a-spec

BUT

asexual Buck

i've got two headcanons that bounce around inside my head and make me feral

so first is fraysexual Buck who is only interested in sexing it up with strangers, people he doesn't know all that well or have any type of emotional connection or attachment to. This Buck probably doesn't put much thought into it or know enough about it to use the label, and even when the relationship does go farther and that attraction fades, he probably ignores that and just does it anyway because the romantic attraction is still there and he doesn't know enough to understand the nature of his attraction and accept it. So he just keeps at it for the sake of his partners even though he has no desire to do so for his own self.

I like to think this Buck also doesn't separate romantic and sexual attraction, so to him they're the same thing, which is why in a romantic buddie scenario, he doesn't understand those feelings (I prefer them as queerplatonic/alterous but there's something about them being romantic in this scenario that makes my brain go brrrr). Because whatever sexual attraction he had towards Eddie he turned into jealousy and was convinced was actually just all negative feelings and dislike (and complicated more by him not understanding his bisexuality yet and that he could even be attracted to a man in that way), and then they got close so fast, their emotional bond and connection formed so quickly that the attraction faded very soon as well, too soon to put much thought into it or realize what it actually was. And because in his mind, romance and sex are one and the same, he can't be romantically attracted to Eddie because he is definitely not sexually attracted to him.

Thus why even upon realizing he's bisexual and capable of being attracted to men romanticly or sexually, he doesn't include Eddie in that revelation at all, or have any clarity there.

but my personal favourite headcanon

asexual Buck who never knew that was something people could be or that it was okay to be that, so he just did it because he thought that's what people were "supposed" to do, and even though he didn't like it, never felt the desire to do it, somehow it made him feel normal because he was doing what everyone else was.

And somewhere deep in the back of his mind he knew he was asexual, knew he was different, and he felt broken and wrong because of it. So even though he didn't actually enjoy it, it calmed that fear in the back of his mind that there was something fundamentally wrong with him, so he just pushed aside whatever discomfort he had in the process in favour of being "normal". But he over compensates, he's searching so desperately to be normal and ok that he goes to far, he throws himself at strangers and anyone who will have him, anything to silence that voice in the back of his mind that knows that's not who he is.

And to make matters worse, its attention, what he always wanted but rarely got, it's the feeling that he matters, that he can make other people happy, that he'll have value.

It's not just that he throws himself into those situations, it's that people welcome him into it, they choose him. So yet again, even though he doesn't actually like it, doesn't really want to be doing it, he does ... because the feeling of being wanted, being chosen, and accepted if even for a moment is better than his physical discomfort and the voice in the back of his mind that begs to just be true to himself. But he can't listen because this is the only way people want or need him.

Maybe this Buck is greysexual, or aceflux ... or even apothisexual, but he definitely doesn't feel that attraction, he has no desire for that relationship other than for the attention and the fleeting feeling of being important to someone, or that his life has value because he's letting himself be used for the benefit of those around him.

And one day he'll realize he isn't broken because he doesn't want that type of relationship or never feels that attraction, that he doesn't have to fit some mold or perform a fake life to be okay and normal and acceptable.

Emma is genderfluid, using all pronouns regularly but she has her days where she just feels like one gender and have one set of pronouns. Occasionally she'll say her gender is "Sheriff Swan". She's also an aromantic lesbian but thought she was bi because of severe comp-het and generally being gay in the 90s was bad.

I also need to mention she's an agere flip, specifically kidre (around 7-10) and tends to be in boymode a lot when regressed.

Reggie or Zorro or Junior or Pup or Gee of whatever you wanna call them (formerly Regina) is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns but didn't figure it out until VERY late in life. They're also a lesbian with a comp-het history where they only ever dated trans guys bc it was a guy who could love her in the way a woman would because she can't sate women right that's crazy. Therapy is needed. (Bonus: their trauma made them extremely hypersexual, rather than super skittish as some would believe).

Reggie is also agere, switching between babyre (1/2-ish) and teenre (15/16-ish).

Ruby is a trans girl and also a biromanric demisexual. She was always secure in her identity and sexuality, and Granny and her friends always supported her so she just had more chances to thrive.

Emma, Reggie, and Ruby are all dating.

Also Ruby and Emma are Reggie's cg a lot of the time, and occasionally Ruby is the cg fir both Emma and Regina.

Snow is bi and demisexual. Her first crush ever was Reggie the day they met, but she never realised it was a crush (bc comp-het) until she met Red and was told what gay people are. She likes being with Charming tho, and can't see herself with anyone else EVER.

Charming is straight as a rod (which caused a lot of confusion because James was very openly pansexual and dating a trans woman (Jack) before he died), however, old David here would sleep with a man for 20 bucks, especially if that man was Hook.

Dwarves are an inherently asexual spiecies, with Grumpy being a rare but not unheard-of outlier. Him being straight is weird though bc every other non-asexual dwarf is gay.

Tiny/Anton is a trans man and aroace.

Graham is a trans guy and lived basically his whole life as a nameless barely existent man. Reggie picked out his name for him and it kinda stuck. Graham is also a wolf therian, and 100% heterosexual.

Archie Hopper is a gay man. Fucking look at him, that is twinkdeath.

Rumple is also demisexual, but happens to be straight otherwise (a tragedy I know). He really only ever cared for Milah, Cora and Belle, and all his other relationships are non-existent in his eyes.

Belle is pansexual, but she REALLY wants to fuck that old man so any of her other relationships aren't relevant.

Victor is bi. I will not elaborate. Jefferson is a trans man gay as fuck. I will not elaborate. And, Grace is the product of Victor getting Jefferson pregnant. Again. I will not elaborate.

Mulan and Aurora are dating. Mulan is a lesbian and Aurora is bi.

Also Aurora is agere (toddlerre about age 4) and Mulan is her cg.

i personally think that eddie is bisexual and demiromantic, but most people have the headcanon he’s gay and demisexual so i kinda never said my thoughts out loud before.

let me explain myself by saying that i really really think the only person he was actually in love with besides buck was shannon, i know most people see his relationship with her as more of a ‘ we should get married cause we’re having a baby’ and the whole catholic family and idk anything besides this type of love and family… and honestly if that’s the case i have no problem with and actually think it’s very plausible and it fits a lot with the history.

i also think that eddie clearly was attracted to the other woman he dated, but didn’t feel anything really romantic about them cause they never really have a close bond like shannon or buck had with him. idk if it’s because i am aromantic myself, but i can see that eddie really wanted to have a physical relationships with them, but they never worked cause they didn’t really mean more than that for him and he couldn’t really do it cause they weren’t as special to him as shannon or buck.

for me it’s very clear that the fact that buddie would work for eddie it’s cause he’s best friends with buck and that it’s the most important thing in their whole dynamic, shannon was also very close with eddie and they shared a lot of history, they knew each other and maybe they didn’t work, but at some point (for me) they did, life just changed them too much. also the most important thing in eddies life is chris and the fact that shannon loved him (she did made a LOT of mistakes with him, but she really loved him) and he really loved and misses his mom, and with buck it’s very clearly that the guy completely absurdly loves the kid and vice versa.

i don’t really care what he is as long as buddie becomes canon, but i would really like to be right about this too, and honestly respect everyone who don’t agree with my opinion and think he’s gay and demisexual. i really love the fanfictions with it and it actually makes a lot of sense with the whole catholic guilt arc and other stuff. but i can’t really stop my mind to think about how much he loved shannon (and again, maybe it was more of the way michael loved athena, and i could totally see that too).
