If you're still COVIDing, you've likely heard phrases, like "it's mild now," or "you have to live your life," repeated over and over. You might be wondering, "what do I even say here? How do I respond to this?" I've listed some of the most common minimizing phrases and some potential responses to them. Feel free to adapt these and make them your own. I've included a variety of responses with different tones, depending on how much you want to be #saltingthevibes.

I want to recognize you might not always have the time or emotional energy to get into these discussions. Some people unfortunately aren't engaging in good faith, so it's important to be able to discern for yourself when you want to have these conversations. You don't always have to educate people, it can be exhausting! For those times when you want to respond but are at a loss for words in the moment, here are some ideas to get you started.

Starting off with one of my (least) favorites:

"You have to live your life!"

"I am living my life. Wearing a mask doesn't stop me from living my life, it makes it possible for me to do the things I love more safely."

"I'd love to be able to get out and do more things, but unfortunately that's not safe for me because so few people are masking."

"I would be a lot harder to live my life if COVID disabled me."

"Living my life means protecting my health, in the short and long term."

"I've adapted how I live my life based on the research about all of the long term health effects of a COVID infection."

"How long are you going to keep doing this for?"

"I'll probably always wear a mask in public spaces, when you know better you do better!"

"When we've widely implemented clean air standards and there's a sterilizing vaccine for COVID, then I might update my current precautions."

"I really wish I didn't have to do this either! But given what I know about COVID and Long COVID, this is the best choice for me."

“This is such a nice day,” I hummed enjoying my tea while Alastor sat opposite of me reading the paper with his coffee and enjoyed the mundane moment together.

Until it wasn’t, as a rocket launches below us. “Come show yourself, Alastor! Come face—oh, there you are. Face my wrath!”

“Who are you?” he jeers enjoying getting on his nerves while I smiled at the two. Al clearly doesn’t dislike him but instead enjoys toying with him, he doesn’t completely shut him down unlike an unpleasant certain someone. I actually find Sir Pentious quite cute how he tries to size Alastor up despite failing several times but he’s got guts I give him that.

I crushed it under my heel before turning back to the group.

“Thanks for another forgettable experience,” Al says pleased with himself while he leans on his cane looking down at Sir Pentious.

“Thank you...” he pauses before tearing off a piece of his tailcoat, “for letting your guard down!

“Oh, deer,” I mutter, wide eyed as I watched Al transform into his demon form and makes an explosion that causes the snake to fly off to the distance.

“Well, it looks as though I need a visit to the tailor! Best of luck, chums,” he announces, taking me with him.

“Wait, you're LEAVING?! Alastor! We need your help! We need you to do your job,” Vaggie yells gesturing to the hotel.

“We need a wall,” Angel deadpans pointing at the broken wall.

“Of course! Can't let my new project fall into disrepair already. What would the papers say?!” he exclaims.

With a snap of his fingers his shadows appear with building equipment. He turns away from the group and takes us to the pentagram. We enjoy a little stroll before getting inside the boutique, he got his suit redone while I looked at the new dress they had on display. I bought a couple dresses that caught my eye and exited the building together, only to be greeted by Vox’s unpleasant face singing on the television. We shared a look and went back to Al’s studio with a smile.

“Salutations! Good to be back on the air,” We greeted in sync blending our voices ever so often creating a seductive distortion.

“Yes, I know it's been a while since someone with style treated Hell to a broadcast.” Al starts off while I finish, “Sinners rejoice!”

I drape my arms around Al’s neck as he sat back on his seat in an easy going way while keeping the microphone to his face and replies, “Instead of a clout chasing mediocre video podcast.”

“Is Vox insecure, pursuing allure? Flitting between this fad and that. Is nothing working? Ha ha!” we tease him enjoying the annoyance in his voice.

“IGNORE THEIR CHIRPING!”

“Every day he's got a new format!”

I laughed in delight, celebrating our wonderful comeback to our radio show. Al gives me smile and stands there quietly enjoying my reaction.

“That was wonderful! We haven’t done that in so long!” I gushed holding onto his hands. “I thought I’d have to wait 200 hundred years to sing with you again.”

He laughs petting my head, “No need for drastic measures, my dear. I’m here to stay.”

I have a small curiosity regarding the Hoshina family, and Soshiro's place in it.

The Hoshina family, as we know, is a prominent family with a bloodline dating back to the Muromachi period (roughly 1300 - 1500). They seem to be highly traditional, continuing to practice their Hoshina-style swordplay and martial arts even in this modern age where guns and other weaponry have become far more practical.

The two Hoshina family members we've been introduced to properly - Hoshina Soichiro and Hoshina Soshiro - are also very aptly named for such a traditional family.

First, let's look at Soichiro - Captain of the Sixth Division and firstborn son of the current Hoshina family. In kanji, that would be [ 宗一郎 / sou ichi rou ] - the 'so' kanji that he shares with his younger brother has a lot of different readings (religion, sect, origin, essence etc.) but that's not the part I'm interested in today. Instead, let's look at the second and third kanji.

[ 一郎 / ichi rou ] - Ichiro is a very common, borderline stereotypical name for the first son in a Japanese family because it means exactly that - First Son.

And what about the Third Division Vice Captain we all know and love, Soshiro? [ 宗四郎 / sou shi rou ] - and of course, we're just looking at those last two kanji - [ 四郎 / shi rou ]. Shiro is also pretty basic sounding, as it means Fourth Son.

Wait - Fourth Son??

This is what caught my interest, as the traditional naming convention of these two brothers seems to imply that not only is Soshiro the younger brother, but that he's also the fourth of at least four siblings?? The strong implication would be there are two middle brothers in the family we haven't met yet. They could be sisters of course... but then we're getting into technicalities with the naming conventions, and - well, let's just say that Soshiro should have a minimum of two older siblings we haven't met yet.

I assume not all of them went into kaiju slaying of course - maybe numbers 2 and 3 were similarly inept with guns, and lacked the supreme sword skills to make up for it like Soshiro does. Maybe they just had other passions. I'd be interested in seeing if Soshiro is on better speaking terms with them than with his older brother!

I'm interested in Soichiro too of course - we know very little about divisions outside the Eastern sector in Kaiju No. 8, and I feel like that's something we could explore once the current manga events wrap up.

I also have a teensy tiny theory that Soichiro just might end up dying, prompting Soshiro to take up his role as Sixth Division Captain(?) Barring Soshiro himself dying, I feel like this would be a pretty good way to progress his character arc if things must change. Kafka has reached Mina's side (even if it's not the way he intended), and Soshiro is in a much better mind to give up that spot now that he's reconnected with his true drive and motivations beyond his role as Vice Captain. So time for a promotion...?

And, well... no better way to introduce those other siblings than at a Hoshina family funeral!

We even had Soshiro and Kafka visiting the shrine where warriors who've died slaying kaiju are enshrined - including those from the Hoshina line. It sure felt like some kind of flag... I just hope it's not for Soshiro himself though I do have an OkoNo10 AU idea if that does happen!!!

Your partner didn't have many free days, but when he finally got one he always spent it with you. Fancy dinners, coffee shop dates, simple hangouts at home you name it; Jōno didn't care what you did as long as you were together. He adored your high spirits and was so smitten with you that only hearing the fast thumping of your heart when he hugged you made him forget all his worries.

But recently he started noticing a strange change in your behaviour: whenever you passed by a crying baby your breath would hitch. Jono didn't pay much attention to this since he assumed that you were simply annoyed by those little creatures. Well, that was until you popped the question.

"Hey Sai, I want to have a baby" you said one day. You were both laying on the cushioned couch in your shared apartment, your head nestled against his chest.

"What's that?" he asked, raising a brow in confusion.

"I said I want to have a baby"

The knot in Jono's chest tightened at the sound of your shaky voice. The last thing he wanted was to upset you. It's not like he didn't want to start a family with you, he just wished he could have you all to himself on his free days.

"Well" he began in the most soothing voice possible "I guess I don't want us to lose what we have now. I enjoy how peaceful our home is and having a baby will just stir things up and to be frank, work is already chaotic enough. I don't think I could handle being a dad too."

His confession made your heart melt, all the tension built between the two of you dissipating in a matter of seconds.

"Oh Sai." you sighed, one of your hands sliding up to cup his cheek "I know that a kid will change things, but no matter what we'll still love eachother. As long as we're together I promise, we got this. And of course we can wait a few more years if you're not ready. I just want you to be happy, my love"

Now it was Jono's turn to be emotional. He gently removed your hands from his face and gave them a little squeez.

"Thanks dear. I know it'll be alright, but I'd like to wait a few more months at least, ok?"

"Sure" you smiled reassuringly "But who knew that the strongest Hunting Dog would be scared of fatherhood." You laughed at your own remark, gaining a mischevious grin from your partner.

"Quit teasing, darling. Or we may end up having that kid sooner than planned" he said, giving you a wink.

Not caring about the flowers you jumped in his arms, embracing him tightly and he eagerly returned a hug.

"I missed you so much Michi" you cooed, showering him with saccherine kisses.

"Hey, enough love" he chuckled as he gently pulled you away "How have you been? I hope my pretty girl had a great day."

"Yes I did, work was great but honestly I was so excited that you'd come home tonight."

"Me too, princess" he said as he untied his shoes and took off his crimson cape. Your boyfriend hasn't been around that much since he infiltrated the Port Mafia. He knew the job was risky and in the event he got caught, it would be best if the mafiosi didn't know about your existence; they would surely hurt you as a way of punishing him. So Tachihara had bought a second apartment where he lived during these interventions. He only came home when he was working with the Hunting Dogs.

"Sooo honey I was wondering if we could talk about something tonight." you inquired, toying with a stray strand hair.

"Of course we can. Did something happen?"

"Oh no nothing. I just had a question for you."

Your boyfriend took a step forward and seized your hips, pulling you closer to him. "Alright then tell me. What is this all about?"

"Ok so" you began, trying your best to hide the slight blush that was spreading on your cheeks "I wanted to ask you if you'd like to have a baby with me."

Tachihara's face dropped when he heard your proposal. For a second you thought he was upset about your idea, but before you could apologize the lovesick smile returned to his lips "I uh well I don't know what to say about that" he stuttered, trying to avoid meeting your gaze.

"I mean it would be amazing. I'd love to start a family with you" he continued as he scratched the back of his head. "But don't you think we're a bit too young for that?"

"Oh not now Michi. We can wait a few more years but we should start saving up for a crib and all that, you know? Baby stuff are quite expensive"

"Yea, I guess you're right" he said before going silent, a shadow of doubt clouding his eyes.

"What is it, love?" you eventually asked him.

"It may sound a bit silly but do you think I'm fit for being a dad?"

You quickly took a step back "What do you mean by that? Of course you'd be a great dad". But your words didn't reassure him too much. You could tell there were things still left unsaid so you asked him to take a seat on the couch while you made some tea for the two of you.

A few minuted later you joined your partner on your sofa, two cups of steaming orange tea in your hands.

"Ok now tell me, Michi. What's bothering you?"

He took your hands in his, his amber eyes fixated on the bamboo floor and after taking a deep breath he started talking:

"I've always regretted not being able to save my brother. If only I had been a few years older I could've joined him in the army and maybe things would've been different. I guess I'm just worried about having a kid. What if something happens and I'm not there to protect you two?"

It hurt to hear him say such things; he sounded so defeated. You gently placed your index finger under his chin, forcing him to meet your gaze. "Don't worry about that dear." you said in your softest voice "It's all going to be fine. We can have the kid after you finish your undercover mission. Plus, not only will our kid have an awesome dad, bur also a badass mom. I can kick ass too, never forget that."

Tachihara chuckled at your words "I know love, you're truly amazing. Thanks for listening to me, it means a lot."

"No problem, love"

He swiftly wrapped his arms around you, resting his head on your chest as you playfully ruffled his hair. Now that things were sorted out he could finally relax in the comfort of your embrace; his eyelids were getting heavier and he felt as if he was under a spell.

He only mumbled in response, placing a tender kiss on your neck. "Love you too, sugar"

He spoke the words so tenderly, almost as if they were made of gold leaf. Needless to say you said yes; you've been a couple for more than four years now and you were ready to start this new chapter of your life together.

Then pulled him into a passionate kiss and he took the hint; swiftly picking you up he made his way to your bedroom, closing the door behind.

Alright! Yall said, "Let it rip so you know the drill! Grab yourself a little snacky snack & let's unpack this shit.

I find it funny how people are trying to misconstrue the problem that we have with the way Pascal is acting & treating Stella. No one has said Stella was right in the manner in which she approached him in episode 1. Hell Kelly called her out on it & Stella herself admitted it. My issue lies in the fact that regardless of episode 1, it appears that Pascal has given his other LTs a level of grace & understanding that he is not giving Stella. So I genuinely want to know why. And if episode 1 is his why, then it goes back to what I said preseason about Stella's mistakes (minor compared to those of others, her husband included) following her. Stella being held to different standards & expectations than her male peers.

If episode 1 is not his reason then I'm left to assume & those assumptions lead me to facts that are rooted in systemic misogyny, racism & sexism.

1. Stella is the only female WOC LT at Firehouse 51.

2. Stella is a younger LT compared to what the CFD is accustomed to seeing per the chief comments in 9x03

2a. Also let's keep in mind the conversation she had with Carver in 11x01. When Stella came home she told Kelly that when she told Carver she got support from DC Hill & his response was "that makes sense" as if she was incapable of earning the shit on her own accord or merrit but implying Stella got a leg up because she was a WOC. Are we forgetting how Stella even met DC Hill? DC Hill came to 51 looking for the FIREFIGHTER that got control of the rig & prevented an accident with civilians. That firefighter was Stella Freaking Kidd.

3. Maybe Pascal thinks less of Stella because she's married/dated a coworker. He could have the same perception that "she slept her way to top"that was expressed in 9x03.

Some observations that I'd like to consider as we unpack his behavior.

1. Pascal brought up turnover on truck yet didn't have the wherewithal to look at the files of the firefighters who transferred out? We've seen that every time someone transfers out, there's a transfer slip that has to be completed. He would have seen Mason & Gallo didn't get transferred to another house within the CFD. He would have saw that they literally are in different STATES still firefighting. I honestly don't know what Gibsons would have said but it would have shown that only one of her FFs that was under her command is no longer on the job.

2. Why was Pascal so QUICK to believe Damon's (White male) word & opinion of Stella over Stella's request to put him back in the floater pool? Stella has been at 51 as a firefighter & LT LONGER than Damon has been a fucking firefighter! So you mean to tell me you're about to strip a LT who has received the firefighter award for valor based off the word of a firefighter who came to 51 as a floater & per Kelly in 13x04 relatively fresh out the academy!? Yall see how insane that sounds right?

3. The only reason Pascal changed his tune on Stella in 13x03 was after Mouch brought him her files/records. So my next question is, why did it take another white male to help sway him? I'm not saying he had to take Stella's word outright but it's the fact that he absolutely SHUT her down & redirected the blame back on her & her "lack of leadership" without investigating the facts. He claims to be all about rules & protocols yet failed to effectively do his research on the situation prior to going to Mouch & asking if he'd be ready to take the LT exam if he needed him...? Huuuuuuh?? I love Mouch, but someone point me to the major save or rescue he did this season so far to "prove himself" to Pascal.... oh wait, he hasn't had one, but you know who has... more on that later.

4. So after Mouch literally saves the night because he himself felt it necessary to go to this man's house off shift at night to bring him her records. Pascal does the right thing & tells Stella to make sure the next replacement on 81 sticks. So what does Stella do!? Does she drag her feet? Does she ignore his orders? Nope she gets right on it. She knew who she wanted but was STILL vetting other candidates because she wanted to make the best informed decision. Yet Pascal was at her neck again saying she was overthinking it. It had been 2-3 shifts MAX. It seems like Stella is showcasing leadership skills that Pascal should be because good leaders don't make important decisions lightly or without all the facts. They research they do their homework they vet out the low hanging fruit to ensure the best decision is made for the betterment of the house.

5. Hermann overheard Pascal & out of HIS mouth, he said Pascal had Stella so stressed out that if she didn't find a replacement for truck, he'd have her bugles. So again, that's not us making the shit up it's quite literally implied in the dialogue that clearly people are picking up the energy & animosity Pascal has towards her. So again, I'm asking where the professionalism is, or is Stella the only one required to be professional?

6. So now I want to talk about Kelly & Pascals interaction in 13x05. It honestly felt like Pascal said that shit to Kelly to see if Kelly would react. We watched Pascal go to LT Vales house & physically assault him for a conversation Vale had with Monica... so clearly he's very protective of his wife so why would he think Kelly would be the person to call Stella an asshole to? That shit was so uncalled for & CHILDISH because if Kelly had punched him in the fucking stomach then what?

At the end of the day before Kelly is Stella's husband he is her peer when they are on shift so again why are you talking shit about one of your direct reports to another direct report?

It sort of felt like a powerplay because Pascal has already brought up to Kelly about him & Stella working together & that he'd be keeping an eye on them. Then he goes & makes that comment knowing that Kelly probably won't respond to it out of fear that he'll throw them being married in his face again if he defends her.

So what we're not about to do is try to normalize or justify Pascals behavior based on the argument that "Stella shouldn't have mouthed off or challenged him." Because honestly, we've seen Kelly & Casey go head to head with Boden & other chiefs, commissioners, etc. when they felt passionately about something (right, wrong, indifferent, they've done it). Not saying what Stella did was right or absolving her from accountability but we're not about to act like she yelled at him & told him to go fuck off! She should've handled herself differently but she shouldn't have to continue to bear the brunt of his twisted ass power plays or whatever the hell he's power tripping on.

He doesn't have to like her & as far as I'm concerned she doesn't have to like him but hell bare minimum he needs to start acting like Battalion Chief with 20+ years on the job versus a petty ass manchild who's mad the girl on the playground embarrassed him in front of his friends.

And I don't want to hear about "Stella hasn't been challenged or Boden let her get away with blah blah or Boden didnt make her "prove" herself & that maybe if she "proves" herself he'll give her a break.

Hard stop, NO! Kelly hasn't had to prove himself. Hermann hasn't had to prove himself. So WHY TF would Stella have to "prove" herself to this man? Like i mentioned before, the playing field needs to be fair across the board for all of them. If anything, Stella has proven herself because she's the one who pulled Damon out of that collapsed sign. She's the one who saw Ritter laying there & still gave clear, concise direction to her truck company (instead of getting all emotional like they think women are going to act in times of crisis 🙄) She took the case in 13x05 & ran with it. Kelly was with her in one scene investigating those crashes. After that, Stella was the one making house calls & following up. Yet at the end of the episode, they had Kelly debriefing the chief on the outcome of the case & not Stella... WHY? At minimum, Stella should have been there & they could have used it as a moment to have them move forward. Instead, they used it as a way to have him add fuel to the fire with that backhanded compliment laced in disrespect by saying she's a pain in the ass & i don't know why!?

Do i think Pascal is a racist, misogynistic, sexist POS sent to uphold the CREEKY views of the CFD? Idk 🤷‍♀️ but what i do know is if it walks, if it talks if it looks then it just might fit. Because there's a clear distinction in how he has handled Stella over the last 4 episodes versus everyone else. & if he's none of those things & he's still just hurt over being challenged by her in episode 1, then I say this with care, but it's time to build a bridge & get over it because I'm tired.

So, in conclusion..... Dom Pascal

Hello! I have a bit of a situation that I would like your honest opinion on; I've read a lot of your asks and I trust your opinion on this, as I unfortunately delved into reddit initially and that was not a pleasant experience.

I have experience with romantic polyamory, and I'm out to the important people in my life; I'm also married.

Recently, my spouse and I have been talking about how nice it would be to have another partner to love and care for as we do with each other. (Note: we discussed this shortly after we started dating, so it's not something new to us) We've been talking about a long-term triad who we'd like to nest with if the new partner would like to nest with us as well.

We don't have any, in my own opinion, unrealistic expectations of the partner. We don't have any "qualifications" or a "job application" that you would typically find with unicorn hunters.

I've been doing my reading, as I haven't been with multiple people in a couple years and wanted my information on terminology to be up-to-date. I've found that another big issue with unicorn hunters is that they treat their partner like a little secret, introducing them as a friend and such.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm out of the closet about this, and I'd always introduce my partners as just that, my partners, and I'm sure my spouse would do the exact same.

So would my spouse and I still be considered unicorn hunters just for wanting to hopefully pursue an equal & ethical triad relationship without any expectations whatsoever? Reddit has been so unkind 😅

Alright, that is a bit of a joke. I like Reddit for a lot of things but their polyamory community is infamously bad. And pretty much all polyamory social media always witch hunts Unicorn Hunters. And not without some good legit reasons. Lots and lots of people get hurt by unicorn hunters. But I have seen lots of people jump to immense conclusions as soon as it is mentioned. I have seen people describe their unique situations only for the replies to completely ignore it, clearly not reading all the way through, just to read a pre-scripted response about how unicorn hunters are bad and they should feel bad.

As you have mentioned, I don't really agree with this. I am a unicorn myself. I like dating couples! I don't feel like I am abused or taken advantage of when I do. Admittedly I have some privilege and advantages there. But regardless I think smart unicorns can effectively date ethical couples.

So my advice is to just be really upfront with any potential partners about what you are looking for. Be honest about limitations. It sounds great that you are open and would introduce them as a real partner. But also be realistic about if the existing couple would have any advantages over the new partner even if that isn't the intention. Make sure the new partner always feels like they have agency and are not trapped. I personally favor open triads to closed ones but that is a decision for all of you to make. After fighting yet another akuma, Cat Noir swung into his bedroom through the open window. Feeling a bit tired, he took a moment to stretch in his black leather cat suit. As he did, his green feline eyes caught sight of his phone which was resting on the edge of his desk.

"I forgot to text Marinette back!" he said, slapping a hand to his forehead. "She's probably really worried. Let me send her a quick text first, then I'll de-transform."

“Come back here, you little monsters!”

"Noooo! Ladybug, save us!"

The twin girls laughed as they ran around Alya's legs, trying to escape.

"I will akumatize you!" Alya said dramatically, holding up her hands and clawing her fingers like a T-Rex. At that moment, her phone began to ring. It was Marinette. Alya answered.

"Hey girl, what's up?"

"Alya! Something's wrong with Adrien!"

Alya eyes widened with concern.

"What do you mean? Is he sick?"

"Maybe! I don't know! Let me send you screenshots of his texts, and you tell me."

After a few moments, Alya received the screenshots. The start of the conversation was pretty normal. Marinette and Adrien were working on a school project together, and Marinette was asking what part of it he would like to take on.

Marinette: You ok with doing the report?

Adrien: I'll do whatever you want me to.

Marinette: No. I want you to do whatever you like.

Adrien: Whatever I like?

Marinette: Yeah.

Adrien: Then I'd like to have you here with me.

Adrien: and I'd like to hold your hand

Adrien: and share with you my room-side view of Paris while telling you how much I love you.

Marinette: I was asking what you want to do for the project!

Adrien: I'll research whatever you want me to. Are you happy being with me?

Marinette: Of course!

Adrien: Then I'll be happy to do whatever, however you want.

Adrien: Tell me how you want me to kiss you, and I'll do it.

Marinette: But we've only held hands so far, so idk.

Adrien: I can do something about that, if you want. What would you like, Mari?

Alya tried to swipe for more, but the screenshots stopped there. Something about their dynamic felt familiar, but she just couldn't put her finger on it. Alya fanned her face for a moment before asking Marinette, "So how did you reply to that?"

Coughing came from the other end of the line.

"I uh…blacked out. I don't remember."

Sure, she did. Alya narrowed her eyes, doubtful.

"But you guys have been dating for like over a month now…"

"No, Alya! You don't understand. He never texts like this. Here's a conversation we had yesterday. This is how it normally is."

Alya's phone pinged with another set of screenshots.

Adrien: Hey, Marinette!

Marinette: Hey Adrien!

Adrien: I was just thinking about you.

Marinette: That's nice. Me too!

Adrien: How's it going with designing the menu for your parents' bakery?

Marinette: It's going great. I can't wait to show you the redesign!

Alya frowned. The second conversation did sound much more like him.

"Maybe his cousin Felix stole his phone and is playing tricks on you."

"I hope not! I need to check with Adrien tomorrow to see what this is about."

"Did you ask him while you guys were texting?"

"I did and well… I'll just send you the shot."

Marinette: Let's focus on the project!!! Adrien! You ok today?

Adrien: I'm fine. But you seem a bit tense. You ok?

Marinette: I'm alright.

Adrien: Want to watch a movie with me tonight? It'll help you relax.

Adrien, now de-transformed and back in his typical casual shirt and jeans, sat at his desk with his phone in his hands, stunned.

True, he was in a hurry to get back to her. But in hindsight, Adrien realized that sending text messages to Marinette while he was still Cat Noir was not the best idea. Anxiety washed over him as reread his text conversation with her. He ran a hand through his blond hair.

"Plagg, this is a disaster!"

"Disaster is my middle name," said Plagg while chomping on a cheese wedge.

"I was only going to send one text. I don't know what came over me!"

"That Marinette is your main cheese, so it's only natural for your feelings to overflow. It's like coming across a tasty piece of Camembert. It is poetry."

Adrien massaged his face with his hands. "I know we're dating now, but this is just too much. Ladybug didn't like when I was like this, and I'm sure Marinette would find it weird too. I'll try to smooth things over tomorrow."

Hello there! First of all, don't worry about "sounding stalkerish", it's very sweet of you to drop by just to let me (and by extension, us) know about your thoughts! 😊 The thing is, it's not that we met when we were cosplaying; perhaps me saying we weren't a couple yet gave that impression, but since you asked, I might as well tell you the full story?

You may want to sit, it's a little long (though I'll do my best to be brief) 😅

We already knew each other, we had been acquaintances for a long while, actually! We met when we were 14/13 or so (we're 31/29 now, I'm the older one). We weren't really that close, but we were on friendly terms and all that.

I'll skip the very personal bits which includes (but is not limited to) us getting closer to each other and stupidly pining mutually, but the sequence of events that led to it is one (!) of the reasons why I tend to say we're a "dazatsucore" couple. Because:

He was into me > I noticed on the spot, and did nothing > I was into him > he didn't know because I hid the fact > leads to him blurting out a confession thinking he'd be turned down > I do not turn him down but ask for some time to think things through because I want to be sure of my feelings first > not too long after I have an answer.

By the way, everything I'm saying gets even better (and funnier) when you consider I'm the "Dazai" one, while he's the "Atsushi" in this.

Anyways, about the cosplay shenanigans you inquired about; back when we were getting closer to each other (2016ish), I had become interested in BSD but knew nothing about it; I knew he had watched it, asked what were his thoughts on it, he said it was nice, recommended it, etc. He then commented that he planned to cosplay Atsushi, showed me the character and shared his cosplay plans.

I had only watched the opening so far (the thing that led me to ask him if the anime was good), and Dazai was the one who had caught my eye the most, so I said, very offhandedly, that 'hey, I'd be down to go with you to the con, I do entertain the idea of cosplaying Dazai'.

He was like 'woah, really?! That would be so fun!' but also got extremely nervous on the spot. I obviously noticed. You see, my spouse isn't really the type of person who can hide his feelings very well + I'm good at reading through people. We've always been a funny match in that regard, ngl.

From a quick Google search I did to gather references for the outfit, I could tell the two characters were a somewhat popular pairing, so I made 2+2, I also already knew he had a crush on me and just did nothing about it, like I explained above. So he had gotten nervous that people could mistake us for a couple because the two characters are (were? sadly) a popular pairing.

Which I did know... And again, did nothing about because while my suggestion to cosplay together was sincere, having no intentions of manipulating him or anything, that did work in my favor as well so two birds, one stone.

In the meantime, what I told you above happened and we started dating. And, for obvious reasons, we decided to go ahead with the cosplay plans 😌 I've never posted a clear picture showing our faces because we're not the best photographers out there, but here's one of the least terrible ones:

The icing on the cake, that doesn't have much to do with us, but is still something we remember about fondly: we're Brazilian, and Brazil is a very big country. The anime con we were going to attend was the biggest in our country but also some good hours away (a 9 hour travel away to the capital, to be more precise), so we took a bus ride with some people headed there as well. It's common for people to make these "con attendees" group rides and they're always really fun experiences + very cost efficient.

One of the people we befriended on the ride was this girl who, coincidentally, was cosplaying as Chuuya. Since we're a queer couple (nb sapphics who go by he/him pronouns) we didn't know what amount of gay was okay in public, but this one girl knew we were a couple, 100% sure of it and it was genuinely beyond funny seeing her and her friends waiting on us to just do something, anything, that gave the answer away.

We kissed like... once, when they were nearby, and the reactions were priceless, ngl. The euphoric I KNEW IT faces.

Back then we weren't married yet, so no telling rings or anything, but this Chuuya had gotten the vibes somehow. When I asked her how she knew before we even did anything, she said, just like this: 'it's the way you look at each other 🥺'.

I need you to imagine Chuuya Nakahara saying this, with this expression. Makes it all 20x funnier. Also the reason why I usually write him as a wingman/enabler in my fics.

Oh, and about the "he had no idea I knew all along", I did tell him... last year 😂 We were reminiscing about things and he went on a tangent saying something along the lines of 'I feel kinda bad because it was selfish of me but I liked the idea of us being seen as a couple back then so I didn't tell you the characters were a popular ship'.

To which I replied: 'Oh, I knew, don't worry.'

Cue shocked Pikachu meme for my spouse's reaction. I then explained that I was fully aware of everything all along, and he was like 'thank GOD you decided to play along then because I had no idea how to charm anyone' 😂

It feels good to put our silly story out there, I had told this story only to one person in the fandom so far (I won't tag her, but Katsu can confirm we're two dumbasses in love) because I don't usually talk about personal stuff publicly like this unless on a whim but also because, like I said, it's a very long story even with skipped parts.

Warm rays of sunlight shone through the window onto her back. She sighed, turned her back to the window and snuggled deeper into her pillow.

She leaned over the edge of the bed and took her phone from the bedside cabinet.

She sighed again when she saw the time 09:28 am, there was nothing worse than waking up before your alarm clock.

she slowly stood up and stretched with a funny noise (who doesn't know that noise hahaha?)

She grabbed some underwear, a pair of pants, a shirt and socks from the wardrobe and then went into the bathroom where she showered and got ready.

When she was done, she went downstairs and put her keys, charger cable and wallet in her bag before putting on her jacket and shoes to go to her car.

The weather in Bodø was still quite cold, her warm breath visible in the cold air.

She got into her car and drove carefully to her parents' house, the roads were still quite icy and the danger of slipping could not be ruled out despite the winter tyres.

When she arrived, she greeted her parents and her brother lovingly.

In the restaurant they sat down comfortably at the table and her parents told her about their retirement, since her parents retired they tried to see as much of the world as possible and every time they saw each other again they talked excitedly about their experiences and their future plans.

"I was accepted into the university" Her Brother said happily and she gasped excitedly.

"Really? I'm so proud of you!" She said and hugged him tightly from the side.

"Yes! I start university in October and then I'll be through in about 6 years! ugh that sounds so long". he said and laughed.

"Just out of school and straight back in, but we believe in you, you can do it! her father said, smiling proudly at his son.

"And you?" her mother turned to her and smiled happily at her. "Have you got a new modelling job yet or any ideas for a new song?"

"Well the last song, 'Nightcall', went down really well. i'm talking to my management about doing a tour like that, but i'd like to release an album first, so i'm working on that." She said and took a sip of her coffee. Her parents nodded.

Her Brother turned to her "When you go on tour, I definitely want to be there to support you."

"It's still January, but if I really manage to finish the album and go on tour before October, I'd love to have you there from time to time. She said and turned to her meal that was being served to everyone.

Her mother nodded and looked at her eldest daughter with a teasing grin. "And any news on the love front?"

She slowly looked up at her mother and shook her head. "Not since what happened and even if there was any news I will only tell you when I am sure it will be serious"

Her mother nodded understandably and turned her gaze to her Son who was already looking at her.

"I have met someone. Her Brother said and smiled sheepishly. "I met him in the library and he asked me for my number, we've been on two dates now".

She grinned at her sibling "Oh yes! And how was it? How is he?"

"Very nice and interesting, he can really talk for hours about my interests and his and it doesn't get boring. He is also very funny." Her brother sighed dreamily and then turned back to his food.

She looked up at her parents and grinned at them, who grinned back at her with a teasing smile.

After brunch, they said goodbye to each other and drove home. Once home, she sighed and sat down in her office with her favorite drink and some fruits.

She took her pen and paper and thought about what she could write the songs about in her album, she sighed again and put her forehead on the table.

She looked around her room for inspiration and gasped when she saw her bookshelf, maybe it wasn't so hopeless after all.

You woke up to the sound of your blaring alarm clock as you grunt and reach over to turn it off. You lazily get out of bed as you go to pick out an outfit. You find a pair of ripped black jeans with a oversized Metallica shirt. You pack all your homework into your backpack, do your makeup, use the bathroom and brush your teeth as you rush downstairs to smell the sweet aroma of bacon and eggs sizzling on the stove as Steve looks over and smiles.

"Good morning sleepyhead" Steve sings

"Good morning mother Steve" you chuckle

You sit down at the table as you scarf down the food that Steve gave you. " is eddie dropping you off?" he asks. " yes. like every other day." "ok have fun love birds" he says as a horn honks, coming from the white van now outside your house. Eddie and you have been best friends since forever. You did everything together from sleepovers, to shopping, to passing notes in class.

Everybody thought you two were dating but you guys had always thought that was silly. Or so you thought.

Eddie's Pov

She looked so beautiful with her shoulder length dirty blonde hair, in her Metallica shirt, ripped black jeans, doc martins, and little accents of jewelry as she slung her backpack over her should and jumped in the car.

"woah slow down!" eddie said " sorry how late will we be?" Victoria asked. "only 5 minutes" eddie said. she chuckled and her nose scrunched like always, it was the cutest thing i'd ever seen, if only she knew how I felt about her.

"thanks" you said jumping out of the car. "anytime princess" eddie said intertwining his hand in yours. you didn't know why but it had given you butterflies, how weird was that. a paper ball had been thrown at eddie's head cutting you from ur thoughts. "hey freak" jason sneered with the other jocks. you just rolled you eyes and lead eddie inside.

"ughhh" you grunt realizing you have math, "what's wrong sweet heart" eddie asked "math" you say. but there it was again! the butterflies, what was happening? " well come on, i'll walk you there" "ok" you reply, as you arrive Eddie asks, "lunch at our spot?" "of course" you reply as you kiss his cheek.

"Heyyy!" Says a familiar voice behind you that makes you turn around. You met face to face with one of your favorite people, Robin. You'd been friends since the first day of kindergarten and had instantly clicked.

It was your first day of kindergarten as your mom walked you up to the classroom. You were super nervous that nobody would like you. Your mom pulled you into the room as you dragged your feet along.

"Hi! You must be Victoria! I'm Miss Rose! We are so excited to have you, you can put you backpack over by the cubbies and we've started working on our name tags to introduce ourselves!"

You put your backpack in an empty cubby as your mom started talking with the teacher. You chose to sit next to a strawberry blonde haired girl dressed in a pink shirt, white frilly skirt and sparkly pick high heels, and a brown haired boy with a plain blue shirt and khaki pants. Suddenly the girl starts speaking to you. "Hi! What's your name? I'm robin! Are you excited for school? I've never been so i'm a bit nervous but excited! Do you want help with your name tag? I think we also have to make another for our cubby. Oh, sorry for rambling i'm just really excited!

You were taken aback by all the information you were just given but happy that you could have a friend. You knew you guys would click instantly after her speaking. "Your ok, l'm Victoria, nice to meet you.

Let's make those name tags you were talking about!"

A hand waved in your face bringing you back to the present. "Hey, you ok?" asked Robin

"Oh ya sorry i'm fine. What were you saying?"

You replied. "I was saying that we have to hang out sometime cause we haven't for FOREVERRRR. Eddie's always stealing you away from me!" She says smirking at the end, you don't know why but she's always thought you 2 should be more than best friends.

The bell rings dismissing everybody from their classes on the way to lunch. You rush down the halls catching up with Gareth. You had also befriended Gareth the same day as Robin back in kindergarten.

Sitting next to your new friend, Robin, was that boy brown haired boy. You didn't wanna make him feel left out, so you introduced yourself. "Hi, I'm Victoria!

What's your name?" His face lit up, he never thought he was gonna make friends but here, this nice girl started talking to him. "Hi, Im Gareth!" He said with a big smile. And little did they know all the memories the trio would make in the years ahead.

"Hey!" you called to Gareth ahead.

"Hey." he replied back walking together into lunch getting ready to grab their trays to eat.

Lets hear that essay

oh man i kind of wasn’t expecting to get any replies to this LMAO bUt here we go. strap urselves in this is gonna be a long one

i won’t share the whole document i wrote bc it’s really long and i go off on a lot of tangents but here’s the general idea

for starters, i believe g&c is absolutely about jalex. we already know it's about a gay couple, so with this in mind, alex telling jack that it's about him is enough to at least consider what that means. granted, i know many believe that he was joking, but i've always thought his tone and general demeanour seemed far too sincere for him to be joking; we've seen how alex acts when he jokes around with jack, and this was different.

furthermore, it's also worth pointing out that jack and alex specifically wrote this one song on their own in a cabin (?) away from everyone else; i know this may not seem important on its own, but it's always worth keeping in mind. ie why would two friends go off to write a song about a queer relationship on their own?

adding onto this, there was that interview with kerrang where alex talked about wake up sunshine as a whole and how it’s about discovering yourself and coming to terms with who you are (i’m paraphrasing but that’s the general idea), so to have a song about a gay couple on an album that’s all about alex discovering who he is seems to me like he wrote it from personal experience.

secondly, i feel like it's important to note that, while jack and alex have always been closer than the average friendship, always bordering on acting like a couple, this closeness was especially apparent during the time that alex was separated from lisa and was living with/near jack. people have commented before on how 'dependent' they were on each other back then, so it's clear that the bond between them was especially strong at that time. of course, i'm sure many will say that it could've been bc alex needed jack's support/bc he was living close by so spent more time with him/whatever, however i feel like there's more to it than that, given all the other reasons. i think they were more than friends.

i'd also like to bring people's attention to one particular incident - that photo of them spooning on a beach. frankly, i've always been a little surprised that so many people have skipped over this without blinking, bc that photo to me has always seemed so intimate and domestic, i find it really hard to believe that many friends would casually sit like that.

and of course how can i forget to mention alex's bday post for jack in 2021? that caption haunts me. "what's there to say that isn't already tremendously obvious? you're a bright light in this weird world my dude. love you times a million" how does that not scream a bday post for a partner? "love you times a million"??? bye they ruin me. all of it just seems so,,, romantic?? idk but i feel like if my closest friend wrote something like that about me i'd find it just a little too much. but maybe that's just me. but also i've seen/heard people say that that caption sounded a lot like something they would write/have written for their partner so,,,,,,, make of that what you will.

ofc honourable mention of the time they went to a gay bar together and karaoke. i realise it’s only from word of mouth that we know that it was a gay bar, but it seems a well-enough-known fact that i feel like i should include it.

i’m sure there’s more i could say, it’s just hard to keep track of everything, especially without making this ten pages long. but another thing i believe is that jack has always had feelings for alex, long before they ever got together. granted, that on its own doesn’t necessarily mean that he and alex dated, however it’s important to note. one thing that sticks out to me with regard to this is how andie once made a post commenting on how jack never looked at her the way he looked at alex. this is interesting to me bc it just seemed like she was implying that she was competing with alex in a way. maybe it’s just me, but i can’t really see that post any other way than that tbh. i mean why else would she have said it? if jack didn’t have feelings for alex, then why would it matter how he looked at him?

furthermore the fact that jack wasn’t alex’s best man at his wedding fr keeps me up at night (i mean not literally but u get the idea). like everyone knows how close they are, alex has literally called jack his “best friend in the whole world” (brb while i cry over that), so why wouldn’t he choose jack, his closest friend, to be his best man at his wedding? i always feel like he did that intentionally to spare jack’s feelings. as if he’s always known that jack has feelings for him, and as such he knew he couldn’t put jack through that, as presumably the best man would have had to give a speech etc. just something else i think about a lot.

anyway, all of this was probably very confused, i hope it makes sense as i have a tendency to waffle sksjsksj but yeah, this is my general idea! lmk if anything doesn’t make sense djskdjsk

Last time the four of them were together, it looked like Chris and Ashley were mighty jealous of Tim and Lucy's connection. I mean, if I were sitting at a semi-romantic dinner next to the love of my life, I'd be distracted, too!

"Call me if you change your mind." "I'm not going to."

Love how he touches Lucy and she physically pushes him away. Like, back off, dude. When Lucy's mind is made up, it's made up.

"Change your mind about what?" "He wants me to meet his parents. So, uh, whose idea was Hawaii?" "Mine, I guess, why?" "

Nyla's arrival interrupts the thoughts, but we all know why. Tim Bradford is Tim Bradford-ing, again, and giving too much in a relationship. He hates sand! And he's suggesting they vacation... on an island.

But there's something else needling at her about this vacation...

"Are you proposing to Ashley?"

Look. At. Her. Face. Her face right before she asks. She's building up the courage to ask him this, because big Hawaii vacation is more than he ever did with Rachel, and it screams romance, right?

"What!?"

Cackling laughing at this. This is the furthest thing from his mind, right now. Yes, he's dating this... person... and they're doing dating people things. But, he's not even thinking about marrying her.

"Of course not. We've only been dating a few months."

This suggests that Tim Bradford likes to take things slow, and isn't in a rush when dating someone. But, the "of course not" shows that he thinks it should be obvious to Lucy.

"You might not be aware of some of the signals that you're sending." "What kind of signals?" "The kind that makes her get a manicure because she's assuming she'll be sending pictures of her hand to all her friends."

Tim looks terrified. Look, we all know Ashley is a placeholder girlfriend until Tim and Lucy get their act together. But he doesn't know that.

Tim is visibly shaken. His hand is unsteady on the wheel, he's looking back at Lucy repeatedly while stumbling through answering the call. Because he really never contemplating marrying this woman. Something in him knows she isn't the one.

*hint* The gorgeous, badass gal beside you with the sunshine-y personality and compassionate heart is right there. Might wanna ask her something sometime, eh?

"My abuela taught me the perfect curse to put on him."

I have to put this line in here for context. Yes, Angela is talking about Nyla's ex. But we now know that if you need a curse, Angela's your gal.

"When did hotels get this expensive?" "Oh, that's pretty good." "Seriously?" "Yeah, I mean, it's a nice hotel."

First off, Lucy is doing all the planning for any trips they take once they get their act together. Second, this kinda hurts. It drives home how long it's been since Tim's taken a romantic vacation.

We know that Tim remained faithful to Isabelle while she was missing. We know that they were together for a long time. But when did they stop going on vacation together? How long has it been?

Tim, you deserve to go on more romantic vacations... but not with Baywatch Reject, okay?

"Oh, you're going to Hawaii. Congratulations on your engagement." "Ah, told you." "I'm not getting engaged!" "Does your girlfriend know that?" "Yes. It's not an issue."

Annnnddd... another voice echoing the romantic vibe of Hawaii that lends to the expectation of engagement. I was rolling!

"Looks like you won't be the only one getting married." "What?" "Nothing. Ignore her."

I love the look that Angela and Lucy exchange, here. Much as there have to be bets rolling around about Chenford, I'm sure there are other bets, gossip, and secrets in that station.

Angela knows Tim better than most, but even she knows that Lucy could be onto something she's not. When this all started, Tim and Lucy had to hear about each other through the rest of the Station.

Now, they've got one another on speed dial and are the first to know what's going on with the other. So... maybe Tim is proposing.

"Ashley can't possibly think I'm proposing." "Why not? I mean, you're of a certain age-"

Tim's face on that had me rolling. We can estimate he's about 10-12 years older than Lucy. And that reaction was priceless.

"She is in her prime. I mean, on paper, it's, it's like a no-brainer. Okay, be honest. Can you see yourself married to her?"

He can't. We can see in his face right there that he really can't. And as the wheels are turning, something pops into his mind that sets him on edge. He glances over at Lucy and he nearly gulps.

Now, I can't tell you what he saw. I'm a Meta writer, not the show Writer or the actor. I can postulate all I like, but I don't know the answer here. But my guess? If he thinks of the future and being married again... he sees Lucy.

Because the person for him isn't the person he's dating. I truly believe he started this relationship with Ashley as a way to distance himself from his growing feelings for Lucy. He's burying them deep down, the same way he did his trauma with his father. And like his father, it's going to take an external force to bring it all to a head.

Lucy is trying to get Tim to talk this out, the way that she talks things out. But we can feel the edge to everything, here. She's not yet fully aware of what she feels, but it's there.

It's dripping in her hesitancy at first asking him if he's proposing, in her nervousness at his response to this question. Because if he's that serious about Ashley, there will never be room for them.

And as Lucy waits for her answer, Tim realizes he can't say the truth. So, he lies.

"Yeah. I can."

The cameras purposefully focus on Lucy, here. On her disappointment. On her sadness. Because, she's not ready to admit it, but she's falling for Tim.

Yes, she is with Chris for the same reason Tim is with Ashley. They both think the other isn’t an option (though for different reasons, at this point). They're both deflecting because they can't get hung up on something that'll never happen.

It's admirable, in a way. They're trying to be happy for the other person while hoping they'll pretend themselves into believing they're happy, too.

"I'm not expecting a proposal. I would say no if you asked."

Proving that everyone got into Tim's head, he addresses the issue with Ashley directly. But I don't think he expected this. Tim isn't ready to face his feelings for Lucy, but having this door shut is unexpected.

"I have no interest in every being married or having kids. I'm just not wired that way."

First of all, there is nothing wrong with being this way. Nothing at all. Some of my closest friends never wanted to be married or have kids, and as we near 40, they've stuck to that and are quite happy.

But there is something wrong with Tim being with someone like that. Because he wants the wife and kids.

Tim didn't have the stability of a safe and loving home, and he wants so badly to break the cycle and pass on a different legacy to his own kids.

Tim spots Lucy watching from the window, and he decides to turn the situation on his head. He's been stressed the eff out all day worrying about this. Now that he knows Ashley has zero interest in marriage, he has to have some fun.

Lucy's Heart Breaks

I don't think she knows until this moment just how deep it is, how she feels about Tim. She's known for a while that something was there—something that could never be.

But watching through the glass as he gets engaged to someone else... it hits so hard she can't ignore it. She can't pretend it away. She can't bounce back.

I've seen people say this is the moment for her—the moment she realizes she's falling for Tim. I go back and forth on it. Because she's known for a long time that she has a thing for Tim.

We saw back in 4x01 that she was totally ready to sleep with him. And while Lucy's confident in her sexuality, she doesn't sleep with just anyone. We know she doesn't do one night stands. She has her standards and sticks to them.

Even earlier in this episode, she can't be completely oblivious to how she feels when he says he can see himself marrying Ashley. No, I'd argue that Lucy has known since 4x01 that there was something there.

Is this a point of no return for her in terms of pretending? Yeah, I can go with that. Because in this moment, she can't shake it loose, and she can't move on. Tim is engaged and she's heartbroken, and they were never even really a thing, right?

So, is this the moment she realizes she has feelings for him? No. I think 4x01 sealed that up because she knew she was willing to sleep with him that night. But, is this the point of no return in terms of pretending not to have said feelings? Yeah, I can roll with that.

Chris approaches, and she keeps looking back at the parking lot, because that's where her mind is stuck.

"It's a good thing you didn't come because my mom, she drove me crazy."

Lucy offers a half-laugh. But she's visibly upset. She's so distracted that even Chris, Mr-Hums-THE-Song-And-Can't-Read-A-Room picks up on it.

"What's wrong?" "Nothing. I-"

Her phone goes off to the "GOT YOU!" message and now she's pissed. Because she's now had to deal with a slew of emotions striking her all at once, only to find out it was a joke.

"Could you just wait here. I need to go find Lopez and figure out how to put a curse on someone." "Yeah, right. Oh, you're serious."

"Serious as a heart attack", as they say. Tim screwed with her emotions, and she's pissed.

Day in the Hole

AKA "Finding Your New Favorite Flavor"

"Come on. We gotta get to work." "She'll be here." "Seriously, we gotta go." "She'll be here."

Mom and Dad waiting for their daughter to show up. Come on, you see it, too! Tim's back from his vacation with the Land of Sand, and we've thankfully left Lucy's jump-scare behind us.

Hopefully the curse doesn't work too well because Lucy might want things to not fall off in the future, if you know what I mean.

Lucy is applauding like a proud mother as Tamara nearly kills a couple people. Tim's glaring like a slightly-annoyed father. I love this family.

"My car was your first car." "I mean, if we're including cars I've stolen, this is probably like my fifth." "What?" "Joke!"

Yeah, you can't joke like that around your step-dad. Tim's a bit of a hard-ass, if you hadn't noticed.

"You are gonna take it to the mechanic though, right? You never know what these cars have been through." "Yeah, Tim set me up with his guy." "What, you did?" "Yeah." "Oh, you have a heart after all."

Mom and Dad... you're flirting in front of the kid. Like, Tamara's not the kind to go "ew", but, still. You might want to chill out considering you're still dating other people.

"Relax, ok? It was purely self-interest. You would be a total drag to ride with if she died in a fireball of mangled metal on the 405."

Did you hear how Lucy gave him that motherly "tsk" in the middle of this!? I've heard it a few times since in Season 5, but this is the first time I can remember it really standing out to me in previous seasons.

"Joke!"

Not your best first attempt at a dad joke, Timothy, but since it's you, we'll let it stand.

"Previous owner of your car is Jake Butler."

Can I say I love how Tamara kept picking things up off the desk (like a kid) and Lucy played the mother role by wordlessly taking each thing away all while continuing her work? Lucy is such a natural mom!

"Let's take a look at his mugshot... But." "What? What the what?!"

This next shot is GENIUS. I have no idea who came up with this (writer/director, etc), but it's genius. We go from the two shot of them looking at the monitor to a shot of Tim approaching.

He sees something that stops him in his tracks... and then we get to see it, too.

Half the station's gathered around Lucy's monitor. And each actor is giving an amazing performance, here. I've paused and played a million times to appreciate each one. Do it. You won't be sorry.

"What's going on?"

Cue everyone looking at Tim. Except Lucy. She's about a beat behind everyone else, which draws my eye to her, every time. And the music bumps up to give us an auditory transition.

"It's even more uncanny in real life."

Through a combination of swift transitions, body doubles, and Eric Winter being in two different positions, we get the treat of meeting... Jake Butler. Tim's doppleganger.

Come on, how much fun must this have been for Eric Winter to get to play this kind of character after playing Tim for so long? And my husband especially appreciated Jake's pot belly.

Yes, while he hasn't seen this show, Matthew is fairly well-versed in Chenford and my appreciation for Melissa O'Neil and Eric Winter as performers.

We get a bit of split screen at the end (throwing me back to my Parent Trap obsession as a kid... yes the one with Haley Mills. I'm old). And I'm frankly excited at all the different techniques in use for this episode when one actor has to be two characters simultaneously.

"He really doesn't look that much like me." "The hell he doesn't." "Not the brightest bulb, though." "Oh. Oh my god. It's Tim and Dim."

The ladies get a chuckle out of that, but Tim's nonplussed.

"Yo. This is blowing my mind. It's like we're looking in a fun-house mirror of handsome." "Sit down Dim... Jake."

I died laughing the first time I saw this. Lucy really got into his head on that one. But, knowing how easily Lucy can get into his head these days, it's no surprise.

"Have we met before?" "No. That I'd remember." "Oh, you would."

Even Tim's doppleganger is flirting with his girl! Yes, I've seen the episode and know that Dim should know why Lucy looks familiar. But it's funnier this way and just plays into what a dumbass Dim is.

"You just wanna see me pretend to be Dim." "Duh." "Fine. I'll do it." "Yes! Okay, okay."

Lucy is so excited she puts both hands on Tim to stop him in his tracks as he's walking.

"So, uh, we gotta dirty you up. And then we have to slick back your hair, because, you know, that guy was, like, kinda greasy." "You are enjoying this way too much." "Oh, and tattoos! We gotta get tattoos."

Lucy, Tim Bradford isn't your Ken doll. As much as we all know you'd like to practice dressing (okay... undressing) him.

"Rescue 1 status?" "Rescue 1. We're ready in 60 seconds."

How much do I love that Lucy is heading the team to protect her man? There's no way she's going to let anyone hurt Tim, but it also gives us the chance to see some worried Lucy.

Tim's been worried about Lucy going undercover so many times, but we've not really seen her worried before. The hit man UC before was fairly safe. He wasn't in any real danger.

This is different. This is a criminal on his turf with a long drop and plenty of armed guns standing by. Lucy's worried for her man.

"Get ready to breach." "If anyone lays a hand on our UC, you put them down."

Let's be real. Lucy and Angela are two of the most important people in Tim's life at work and outside of it. And here they are getting to be his guardian angels—his wife and his best friend. I love it.

"So, I had Dim's girlfriend picked up." "Okay. Why are you being weird?" "It's easier to show you."

We need Sava to know who is going to go undercover with Tim, right? As if things weren't weird enough with Tim's doppleganger, now we've got Lucy's.

Tim is inside and already waiting for her reaction. Now he gets some payback for how much she was ragging on him and his doppleganger. Tim's smiling like an idiot.

"Guess we know who's going undercover with Dim." "Yeah, Juicy." "No." "That's Juicy." "I don't like that."

Our babies get to go undercover as a couple! They spend so much bloody time trying to run from how they feel, and now they've gotta cozy up to one another and play boyfriend/girlfriend? Sign me up! I'm so ready to see this.

We know both of them are capable in the field, though Lucy's a little more natural on the fly. But getting to see them together's gonna be fire, right?

"If we're gonna make this work, our backstory's gotta be airtight."

Oh, Lucy, honey. I didn't mean actual fire. You've lit enough candles to send a beacon to all of LA more powerful than the Bat Signal.

Lucy brings Tim a beer. And while they've shared drinks before and he's been in her apartment before, I find this particular combination so very domestic. They're brainstorming on the couch instead of at the counter, and I think all of this ambiance shows how relaxed they are around one another.

But also that Lucy's a tiny bit horny. Look, we know she's in a committed relationship with Curried Goat Boy, but subconsciously Lucy has lit a hundred candles because she wants Tim Bradford.

Now, Lucy's not a cheating person. We know this (and I go into more depth in 5x01 Meta and beyond). But, some part of her is subconsciously excited to have Tim in her home and wants the ambiance to be just right.

"Agreed. So, um, how did Dim and Juicy meet." "At a barbecue." "That's lame."

Also, are there barbecues out in LA? Like, real barbecues where you smoke meat for hours at a time? Or is Tim talking about a cook out? They really are two different things... I'm from the South, so we're kinda weird about that.

Plus, when Tim first said it, I said, "Lame." So, I take a small bit of pride in being on the same page with Lucy on this one!

"Really? You think you can do better." "Watch me! Okay, so, um, you were on the run from the cops. A bank robbery gone wrong. You ended up in my building, frantic, looking for a place to hide. And I opened the door for you. I lied to the cops for you. And, ooh, and it got me so hot that we hooked up while they were still searching the building."

Tim's mouth has fallen so far open that we're halfway to his O face.

He's imagining every bit of that. Because, after all, he remembers better when he listens, right? And Lucy just took him through one heck of a journey that will be burned into his brain for a long time.

He's imagining every bit of it... especially that last part.

It takes a second for him to recover.

"Okay. That's, that's, that's pretty good, actually." "Thank you." "Mmhmm." *giggle*

His brain's moving, now, and he's overthinking. Because, what bad guy will ever say, "Kiss your girlfriend or I'll pop a cap in your ass!"?

Also, I love Lucy's giggle. There's an episode in Season 5 where I discuss it extensively, but I love how it makes an appearance, here, considering where this scene is headed.

"So, look, we, we should, we should probably, you know, talk about the elephant in the room." "Hmm?" "You know, if we're gonna sell that we are, you know, actually boyfriend and girlfriend, then we might have to, uh, you know?"

And Lucy does know. But she's having a lot of fun fucking around with Tim. Come on, the girl is so repressed in her feelings for him that she's never gotten to really poke at him this way. And she is loving it.

"Have to, have to what?" "We might have to, to." "Okay, okay. We might have to PDA?" "You know what, forget it." "No, no! Okay, you're right."

Lucy nearly touches Tim's hand before he moves it. They're still very careful about being physical with one another, partly because of the boundaries of their job, but also the personal boundaries they've set with one another.

Remember what I said in 4x01 about proximity making it harder to deny what they feel. They're sitting as far away from each other on the couch as they can, as it is.

"Yeah, you're right. I mean, if we're gonna, if we're gonna have to kiss it probably shouldn't be for the first time." "That's what I'm saying." "Right, yeah."

Because the baddies need to see you kissing, right? Like, isn't that what everyone does when they're engaged in criminal activity? Stop to make out?

Maybe James Bond does, sure, but actual baddies?

Whatever. I wanna see them kiss as much as the rest of you. So, let's see if they can get through the initial awkwardness to get the job done.

"Should we maybe, uh, should we stand?"

It cracks me up that this is so awkward for them. Just a few months earlier (show time) these two were considering the horizontal mambo in his bed, and now they can't even figure out how to get through one kiss.

When Tim makes the kissy face and she runs away, it cracks me up so much. I mean, nobody really kisses like that, first of all, and I'd probably die laughing, too.

Fishy face Tim is not his best look.

"We're professionals. Let's just get this done with." "Woah. Well that's romantic." "I'm not trying to be romantic." "Well, you're succeeding."

Tim and Lucy. Never change. Y'all are making me die laughing when normally I can't stand awkward scenes. But Tim and Lucy can be this frank with one another because neither thinks the other is an option.

Truly, that's what gives them all this freedom. They think the other person has zero interest. They each think it's all in their head. So, they can treat this little moment as something totally bizarre that they have to do for work.

Tim gives Lucy the most chaste-wouldn't-offend-my-Spanish-Catholic-grandmother kiss in the world. And he looks so damn proud of that tiny peck, too!

Lucy echoes all of our thoughts.

"I'm sorry. Is that it?" "You know what, if you're gonna criticize-"

Tired of talking, Lucy pulls him in with both her hands on his face. Their lips meet, and as soon as they do, Tim's hands instinctively go to her arms.

The kiss deepens as the camera shift around them, both of them leaning into one another as Lucy's right hand falls from Tim's face.

Their lips part briefly, the hint of a smile on Tim's lips as his hand settles on her shoulder. Lucy's left hand falls from his face.

This pause could have been the end of it. The second their lips parted, they had done the assignment. Case closed. Kiss achieved. Move on to the next thing.

But Tim and Lucy don't want to stop. Now that they're finally here, both of them want to keep going. Tim has her in his arms. She has her hands on his chest.

In this moment, they've forgotten the assignment. They've forgotten Chris and Ashley. This is the definition of "getting lost in the moment". Tim and Lucy are the moment.

Tim is a touching-foreheads kisser and a top-lip-lover. He goes for hers just as the door behind them opens.

You've. Been. Caught.

Lucy distances herself from Tim by pushing off of him with her hands. His left hand drops from her am as he literally runs to the wall to put distance between them.

"I should probably go."

I love Tamara. Like, she's not judging them in this moment, and she has absolutely no idea what is happening. But, she has to know that there's something between them just waiting to be unlocked.

"No. This is work. This is work."

Lucy spat it out the first time, but she says it again because, well, it's true. And she needs a way to explain this away. Not just to Tamara, but to herself.

"Yeah, yeah, we're, we're going undercover." "Hey, it's cool. I mean, you don't have to explain yourself. I should probably go." "No!" "No, I, I was just about to leave. You know what? No, I don't have anything."

Cackling. Dying. ROLLING the first time I heard that. Tim Bradford is so flustered he can't even remember if he brought anything in with him. And what would he be looking for, exactly? A file? Paperwork?

"I'll see you tomorrow." "Good work tonight. Ay."

Lucy. Chen. Did you really just say that? Even she can't believe she said that. But Tim is too flustered to call her out on it.

"Great work, as well. Bye."

Tim high-tails it out of there so fast. And Lucy lets him go. But why?

Because they both know what just happened wasn't some fluke. They both wanted it. They both felt it. And neither knows what would have happened if they hadn't been interrupted, but both knows that because they were... it's awkward.

Like, they could barely talk about having to kiss. How are they going to talk about the fact that it felt... real?

"I'm gonna go to my room." "Yeah, me, too."

Lucy can't talk about this. Tamara just walked in on her kissing a man who isn't the man she's dating. Not just thin-lipped kissing. We're talking mouths open, bodies touching, hunger growing kind of kissing. And it was with her boss.

And who is outside reeling? Tim Bradford. I love that the writers/director gave us this space to see how Tim feels. Because it would be so easy to dismiss this as a one-sided thing where the subordinate falls for her boss.

But Tim Bradford's been on his way down for a long time. He's been able to push it down, repeatedly. Even last episode when picturing his wife, he had to push Lucy down. I firmly believe it.

But tonight he kissed Lucy Chen. And she kissed back.

I used to think this was his moment of realization, but the more I've rewatched the episodes, I still think 4x01 was a huge revelatory moment for both of them that they've been pushing down and ignoring ever since. They never discussed it and they're both running from it.

This is the episode that makes it so much harder for Tim to run. He's been completely convinced his feelings were one-sided. But this is a hint to him that, maybe, he's wrong. Maybe, just maybe, she feels it, too.

Because she wasn't kissing him like a platonic coworker. She was breathing into him as much as he was breathing into her.

She didn't want to stop anymore than he did, and when Tamara walked in, they were both flustered. She felt it, too.

Yes, Tim's reeling from how he feels because he was smacked in the face with feels tonight. But he's also reeling from the fact that freaking Lucy Chen kissed him back.

"Hey." "Hey."

He was waiting for her. He's been thinking about this since last night, as has she. And he wants to talk to her before they head in.

"Listen, about-" "We should probably-" "Go ahead." "No, you go first." "You sure?" "Mmhmm." "Uh, okay. I just wanted to say..."

His eyes are so soft, here. Look at him. He's more of a show guy, but he's trying to find his words. And Lucy Chen's looking at him so expectantly.

And he chickens out.

"We need more work on our backstory. Give it more depth. Key moments. You know?" "Yeah, we, uh, we could take the morning, you know, while we're waiting for Hajick to call." "Great." "Great."

Look, obviously it's the Season 4 finale and they needed to drag this out more. But there are also a host of obstacles between Tim and Lucy, and he's not entirely sure of how he feels.

Having the night to think has also lead to time for him to doubt. He's doubting his own memories. Maybe it was the beer. Maybe the adrenaline. Maybe it meant something to him and nothing to her.

So, he chickens out. But Lucy doesn't know that. All she knows is that Tim wanted to talk to her, but it wasn't what she'd hoped to hear... so she shoves her feeling back down.

They're both in a point of mad denial. But, I think this episode was a turning point for them because it marks the end of them being able to pretend with themselves.

Yes, they'll still pretend with one another because they care so much about each other that they want the other to be happy, no matter what.

But, within their hearts both Tim and Lucy know there's something there that cannot be ignored any longer. Tim longs for Lucy. Lucy yearns for Tim. And until they start actually talking about all this, that's where they'll stay.

forgive me if you've answered this before, but what do you think the "big betrayal" SJM hinted at in the next book is going to be? part of me is thinking its going to be az defying rhys and entering an affair with elain before that inevitably turns sour. I know a certain subset of fandom is suggesting gwyn is gonna be evil which is goofy, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Is this something she said in an interview or something hinted at in SF? I'd love to hear more about the Betrayal she spoke of! Up until SF and even in SF, we had proof of Az being defiant and announcing that he'd disobey Rhys's orders but we've never actually seen him go behind Rhys's back. I think if Az was planning on defying Rhys in regards to Elain, a few things wouldn't have happened. First, I don't think Az would have left the River House thinking to himself that he knew he had been right to avoid Elain. We're directly in Azriel's thoughts and if he had real feelings for Elain, I imagine we would have gotten something along the lines of, "Rhys just didn't understand" or "Rhys was wrong for thinking he only wanted Elain for sex". Instead, his silence to Rhys and lack of thoughts to himself sort of confirm that he really doesn't have the best intentions when it comes to Elain. We also get the line, "Rhys had rarely threatened punishment or pulled rank. It stunned Azriel enough that it knocked him from his rage." Which to me means that Az saying, "You can't order me to do that" is simply bravado because he's throwing a tantrum that someone called him out for irrational and irresponsible behavior. I think when Rhys finally used his commanding voice, it calmed Az down enough to see that he was acting out of line. It reminded him that he knew he should have stayed away from Elain because his jealousy over not getting what he wants (a mating bond like his brothers) is making him do things he knows he'd end up regretting. I really don't think SJM then added Gwyn into things if Az is planning on defying Rhys in order to be with Elain because this is what Az's story would look like: In love with Mor for 500 + years Starts to show interest in Elain while also still being in love with Mor Gets ready to kiss Elain but tells her it's a mistake. Can't confirm to Rhys that he's over Mor. Can't confirm that he's thought of a future with Elain but gets pissed at Rhys as if Rhys doesn't have a right to be pissed at Az's non responses however he still ends up spending the second half of the evening with Gwyn who makes him feel a bit better after everything that happened. Decides to give Gwyn the gift he originally planned on giving Elain and the thought of Gwyn's happiness makes him feel joy. Defies Rhys to be with Elain. That all sounds like a male who has some major issues. He would literally be bouncing back and forth to whichever female showed him the tiniest bit of interest at any given moment and I can't imagine SJM writing a male love interest like that unless she plans on tanking his character the way she did with Tamlin. Also, we do get confirmation in SF that where Az did first attempt to defy Rhys and Feyre with going after Briallyn, he eventually agreed to hold off. That to me was SJM demonstrating that while Az's initial response has been to rage and throw tantrums, he's starting to show respect for his High Lord and High Lady's decisions. If there is to be some big betrayal I think it's going to completely be related to plot (not ships, going behind friends and family just to date someone) and won't end up being a betrayal at all, at least not by a major character who is getting a POV. Whether it's an Elucien book or Gwynriel book next, it doesn't make sense to me to have one of the main characters get in over their head and need Rhys, Feyre, Nesta, Cassian, etc to save them. That makes no sense when the hero / heroine of a novel are the ones supposed to save the day. Also, if the IC end up betrayed we'd need their POV to see their emotional turmoil over having been betrayed or suspecting the betrayal in the first place and that doesn't make a lot of sense if it's an Az POV. It could work if say, Elain thought Lucien was betraying them and she decided to keep tabs on him to find out more information only to learn that Lucien never betrayed them at all but had a clever scheme going on which ends up helping everyone.

What could also be a possibility is if a secondary character (i.e. Eris) is the one to betray them. He strikes me as a very Loki like character who bounces back and forth between doing good and being ready to throw them all under the bus if it no longer serves his purpose.
