“Well… I guess it’s good to always be prepared”, Sky’s uncertain response made Wild beam.

I feel like I just witnessed the death of kendall roy’s humanity. I feel like in that last scene all he’s doing is mirroring the guilt he used to feel (and is supposed to feel) but then he hangs up the phone and says “some people just can’t make a deal for shit” and that hardness and coldness is there in full effect and his whole altruistic martyr complex dies, if only temporarily, as he watches the screens declaring menken’s victory. his mind is a business oriented one-track mind now, because it’s what he needs to do to be the man on top.

so much of this episode was kendall standing around and thinking, as if sinking into something horrible and less than human. and then he talks to shiv about his kids, but also about his career aspirations and you realize oh. that horrible, less-than-human thing he’s sinking into is the throne.

I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.

Well - she got this email this morning:

The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.

Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).

Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.
