Ooooo I’m in the minority for picking “Merlin with Arthur”

Lemme explain my reasoning:

Arthur definitely fell in love with Merlin right before or during 1x04 because duh, did you watch the episode?

But I think Merlin fell in love faster because he was already showing love signs by 1x02. The way he smiles when Arthur says he believes him is precious.

He seems a combination of surprised, impressed, and affectionate; he probably expected Arthur to brush him off but he didn’t. I think it’s the first time Merlin sees the “good person” in him; the prince who has no reason to listen to him or hold his words at any value actually believes him.

Merlin is also already willing to risk exposing himself to save Arthur. He tries his hardest to convince him not to fight, even after Arthur yelled at him, because he believes he’ll die.

Then he spends the entire night learning that spell, literally not sleeping. Once he gets it, he sprints down to the dueling pitch and uses it.

Boy if you don't put your damn hand down. You weren't pointing at the dog when you successfully casted the first time, you had your eyes freaking closed!!

Literally anyone could've seen this shit, and he would've been screwed.

I do think that Arthur started falling in love here too, but was far too busy with his daddy issues to truly fall in love until 1x04. I think these GIFs kinda sum it up pretty well:

Merlin sees him laugh and smiles, which makes Arthur immediately go back to "prince talking to peasant" mode:

Everything about Arthur's body and facial language in the last GIF screams: "Shit, he caught me laughing at him and he's smiling at me, quick, pretend like you don't care."

And I am serious about him being busy with daddy issues this episode. Uther pretty much called his own son a liar and a coward in front of the royal court. Arthur's definitely hurt and upset by it, because his own father didn't trust him, and actually believed that he would make up an accusation of magic to get out of a duel.

I think they were definitely both in love by The Poisoned Chalice. That whole episode makes so damn sense when you try to ignore all the implications.

Merlin drinks what he knows is poison just to stop Arthur from drinking it. I honestly don't know what his plan was, because he knew he was going to either get sick or literally die from whatever kind of poison was in there. Did expect Gaius to be able to cure him? Or did he straight up not care if he died, just because Arthur lived? Given that he tells Arthur to leave the flower behind when he's in the cave, I'm thinking it was the latter.

Arthur goes on a suicide mission by himself to get the cure. When he finds out from Gaius that the only way to save Merlin is to get the flower, he immediately chooses to do it, but I think what's interesting is the scene after this where he's arguing with Uther about it. He says "Let me take some men", implying that he wasn't going to go alone. Having knights with him pretty much would've guaranteed he would survive, but obviously Uther says no. He decides to go anyway, and by himself.

What was his plan? Go and get the flower or die trying? And he would have died if Merlin hadn't been able to help him with his magic! Despite being that close to dying himself, he still gets the flower before escaping.

This is the kind of dedication to another person that is used in canon couples of every genre. They haven't known each other that long at this point. At the most generous estimate, maybe a month. Episode two takes place the day after the first because it's Merlin's first day as his servant. Between episodes two and four, it's probably been a few weeks. That is not a long time to know someone, and yet these two are legitimately okay with risking their lives for one another.

OK so im not necessarily great at explaining things but a basic weekend run down is

Friday

-Shakedown

-FP1 (30 mins i think)

Saturday

-FP2 (30 mins i think)

-Qualifying

-Race 1 ~ 40 laps, 6 mins of attack (4-2, 3-3, or 2-4 splits)

Sunday

-FP3 (30 mins i think)

-Qualifying

-Race 2 ~ 38 laps, 4 mins of attack (3-1, 2-2, or 1-3 splits)

FP sessions are exactly as you'd expect (if they arent the 30mins theyre 45)

Quali is in 2 sections, first the group stages - 2, 12 (i think) min sessions with the drivers split into 2 groups based on championship position (basically odd is one, even is the other) with the top 4 of each group going through to the duels. And then the duels, which are 1 laps shootouts until the top drivers from group A and group B go against each other for pole.

The races are in a lot of ways just races, except with 1000% more chaos a good 95% of the time, the biggest differences are -

Attack Mode, which is the FE equivalent of drs/p2p, except drivers have to push a button to "activate" it, and then go off line to actually gain attack mode, this is where the main strategy comes into play. It is an increase in energy from 300kW to 350kW, and it has to be activated twice in the race, notably in Monaco Jehan failed to activate it at all, and received a 10 secind stop go penalty post race (48s added to his race time). It will cause drivers to lose postiins pretty frequently so its important to make sure you hit the button and go over the 3 loops on track the first time(s) you intended to in order to not lose positions unnecessarily.

No pit stops unless there is a problem hence why attack mode is the main strategy bit. Also front wings arent vital so if it completely comes off and isnt at risk of coming off under the car, theyll probs just keep going without it.

SC, under if the race is under safety car, and or full course yellow, for a certain amount of time (in relation to a reference lap time set based on each track, for Berlin its 2min45s) laps will be added for the first 80% of the race, any sc or fcy after that point will not result in added laps. There is a maximum of 5 added laps per race.

Energy management is a huge part of FE it can sometimes lead to peloton (i think that's the word i mean) style racing with drivers not wanting to lead for to long which can be a bit annoying, but we do get a good dose of chaos each weekend, especially in the last few laps which is always fun. And the mid pack will always be in some sort of fight.

In terms of where to watch your best bet is going to the FE website (or app) and checking for your country. FP sessions are free on youtube and show on the app/website too. There's a predictor game each race which is fun and on the app, as well as driver radios during the race.

Paul's making his debut with Envision, who are the reigning teams champions of formula e. Season 10 hasnt necessarily had the best start for them, but it hasnt been terrible, with best finishes of P2 at the opening round in Mexico and at Race 2 in Diriyah. Envision is a customer team of Jaguar TCS racing who supply their power train, and who the other Envision debut, Joel Eriksson, is the reserve driver for. There's definitely the possibility for points, with a car capable of podiums with its usual drivers, and a power train that can win races and is currently topping the teams standings, a good quali, and avoiding the chaos (much easier said than done) is vital, but definitely doable for him, especially given how his rookie f2 season is going (i say like these cars arent entirely different beasts). Envision clearly has faith in him, and chaos means literally anything is possible (like an abt almost got a podium the other week, truly anything is possible here)

Theyre pretty much always up to date on how long races and such are gonna be and a great source for updates on penalties and such, and just changes to the formula e world in general.

Oh my fucking god, today was HORRIBLE. So, my dumbass did not check to see if excedrin would interact with wellbutrin before taking it and I was driving on my lunch break to Walmart when I suddenly felt really weird and had to pull over. The caffeine triggered a HUGE panic attack. I had to call a coworker to come get me and take me to walmart to get benadryl in order to calm down. But I still spent an entire HOUR inside of Walmart unable to get up, unable to hardly talk, breathing in deep for thirty minutes straight because I was very very close to passing out. My legs, arms, and face were all going numb too. I am completely fine now, just sleepy from the benadryl, but holy cow that was awful. Folks who take wellbutrin, don't be a dumbass like me who didn't think to check for drug interactions before taking a medication.
