Going to elaborate on this zombie dream because it was so damn vivid
I have not dreamt about zombies since that series of two weeks when i was working on a zombie game and i had to splatter blood across five characters, so i have no idea where this came from??? Also geno being the hero doesnt make much sense, where did norman go lol. 𤣠I mean that chain whip would have really come in handy.
ANYWAY
For some reason i was in this gigantic old late 1800s era hotel - like one of those 1890s/1900s economic boom era hotels, so there was people everywhere. And it started as a normal vacation weekend. I was not there as a guest, i was working or somethinng (??) so didnt technically have a room. But was still in the hotel lobby when the zombie-ing started happening. It was very slow at first - very walking dead inspired where people who were 'infected' kind of acted normal in the beginning and then gradually went zombie. So the first clues were some random strangers acting weird on the hotel lawn. And i was like 'oh shit' because ive watched at least four seasons of the walking dead and had an idea of what was coming. And went back inside the hotel to try to figure out how to prepare and the guests were all continuing on as if normal, completely clueless. Except for one person: the like hotel manager or something. Who was short and very well dressed, kind of like that guy from princess diaries or pretty woman. And he could tell that i also knew something was going on.
He took me to where the kitchens were so I could fill my bag with food (which like, im realizing that with how delicate my stomach is right now how would i even eat during a zombie apocalypse????). Of course by the time we finished in the kitchens, the lobby was quickly disintegrating into half chaos half 'normal' as guests started getting infected. One woman went on a shopping spree and spent all her money and was trying to get gifts to loved ones packaged and mailed while all around her infected people were like...zombie-ifying. And she eventually gets bitten and starts crying because half her packages still havent been wrapped.
and the hotel manager is like 'oh shit, not good, come with me' and we escape up into an unoccupied room and discuss strategy. Unfortunately the hotel manager turns out to be a bit of a fatalist and ends up being not very helpful. He gives me a map and a set of keys but ultimately he stays behind in the hotel room, mourning, while i leave to try and figure out a way to survive. Which reminds me of anju in majoras mask - her storyline always annoyed me (like yeah she doesnt know the moon will destroy the entire planet but she doesnt even try to escape? Because love??? Silly!)
I decide i have to try and get out of the hotel because its now overrun with uber rich zombie guests and this is where the vastness of the hotel comes into play. Its like a video game trying to avoid being caught by zombies while sneaking around through servants stairwells and hallways. I manage to get to a loading dock of sorts and am creeping down the covered road that is empty except for a few abandoned trucks. And i carefully try to hide behind the trucks and find another woman in a fancy business suit hiding there. She stops me from running to the next truck and we watch as some poor girl in a bathing suit probably coming from the pool goes running past in plain sight and ends up being caught and eaten.
So this business lady and i decide to team up and escape to the main road together. I dont know why we didnt take a truck but we didnt even try. We make it out the tunnel to the side of the hotel lawn and i have to kill my first zombie on the lawn which is like terrifying. But i manage somehow. Suspiciously the lady does nothing to help me defeat this stray zombie. I ignore this because the lady spots her husband coming across towards us on the grass.
The husband is obviously infected but still somewhat cognizant enough to recognize the lady, and im like oh shit not good and start realizing i need to get out of the situation. But they've got me pinned between the open lawn and giant hedges.
And this was the most disturbing part of the dream - turns out the wife was already infected too but both of them are fucked up assholes as humans and zombies. They each have extremely sharp knives and start cutting into me without infecting me (i guess in this world zombies have to actually bite you to infect you or something?) and they are laughing and grinning the entire time. Like of all the things a half person could pick to do before turning full zombie, their choice is torture. Because its fun to them.
Until someone takes both of them out with a shotgun...and i turn around to see who saved me and its geno \o/ and then i wake up and never find out if we managed to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Lmaoooooo i think the past two days of work stress got to me.
holy shit i just woke up from the most insane nightmare about zombies

Iâve Fallen in Love With My Best Friend - James P. x Reader
Pairing: James Potter x Reader
Word count: 1.6k
Summary: Thereâs an Amortentia lesson in Potions one day, and y/n feels confident that her best friend and crush, James Potter, didnât like her back, as he has his heart reserved for Lily Evans. James also believes heâs in love with Lily, but things change when he smells someone else in the Amortentia.Â
-
Walking into Professor Slughorn's class, you noticed the other students were perked up, excited for the lesson. You sat down, confused, until you saw the potion on Slughorn's desk, which you immediately noticed was Amortentia. Like your other classmates, you also felt eager for the lesson to start.
Suddenly you heard some people stumble into the room, instantly recognizing  them as your best friends, James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter. You smiled at James, seeing him scan his eyes around the room to find you. You waved your hand, calling him over to sit next to you. He grinned and walked over to the desk, sitting in the seat. "Good morning y/n!" he greeted kindly. He then looked around the classroom, his face morphing to a confused look when he noticed the buzzing excitement in the room. "Why is everyone so chipper today?" he asked. You then pointed at the potion on Slughorn's desk, "I'm guessing we're doing a lesson on Amortentia today." He was about to ask was Amortentia was, but was interrupted when Slughorn started talking.
"Good morning class, today we will be learning about Amortentia! Now, does anyone know what that is?" He questioned. You raised your hand quickly, and smiled when he called on you. "Amortentia is known as the world's most powerful love potion, and smells different to each person, as it's supposed to smell like whatever you love most."
"Perfect Ms. y/l/n! 10 points to y/h." you grinned proudly. You then heard Sirius' voice behind you, "Well I don't think prongs needs to smell it, we all know what it's gonna be!" He teased, James saying a lighthearted "shut up!" in return.
You knew what Sirius was talking about, of course. It was common knowledge that James was head over heels for Lily Evans, how could he not? In your eyes, she was everything that you wanted to be. Lily was gorgeous, popular, but most of all, she had James' attention. You've been in love with James about the same amount of time hes been in love with lily, and it hurt. It hurt being in love with someone who was so painfully obviously in love with someone else. Suddenly you weren't as excited for the lesson as you were before, as you weren't exactly thrilled to hear James talk about Lily's scent in the potion.
Slughorn started to call people up to smell the potion, and you waited your turn, watching them quickly walk to the desk when their name was called.
"Ms. y/l/n?" You snapped your head up. Everyone's eyes were suddenly on you, although the only ones that mattered were the hazel ones staring next to you. You started to get nervous, walking to the potion on the desk. Once there, you smelled the mixture.
broomstick polish, cologne, and freshly cut grass.
You rolled your eyes smiling, you had very clearly smelt one James Fleamont Potter. what a shocker, you thought. You gave a quick thanks to Professor Slughorn and sat back down, too embarrassed to share what you smelt with the class.
a few people went after you, and then James was called up. He smiled as the other marauders teased him. He confidently walked to the potion, grinning widely. Looking very sure of himself, he swiftly smelt the Amortentia. Then he suddenly had a puzzled expression on his face, quickly shifting to a frown. You started to feel worried as he nodded at Slughorn and quickly walked back to his seat. You instantly turned to him, "James are you okay?". His eyes widened dramatically, "What? oh yeah, I'm fine.", he replied quickly, avoiding your eyes. You frowned and turned back to the class.
When the lesson ended he practically ran out of the room, the other pranksters following quickly, looking ready for an interrogation. You just stared at the seat he was just sitting at, wondering what could have happened for him to act like that.
-
After that potions lesson, James had started avoiding you. Hed constantly make sure he didn't run into you, avoid your eye contact, sit far away from you at all times, and practically pretend you didn't exist. Any time you tried to talk to him, he would just brush you off, giving some lame excuse. It was as if the two of you had never been friends.
- "Hey James, do you wanna go to Hogsmeade this weekend with the others?"
"Sorry, I need to catch up on homework."
- " James! Wanna go to the library together after class?"
"I already have plans, sorry y/n."
- "Hey wanna go to the Quidditch pitch and practice?"
"Uh sorry y/n, maybe another time."
After a couple weeks of the neglect, your concern and confusion had turned into anger. What had you done to make him avoid you? And why couldn't he just talk to you about it? At this point, you had gotten fed up. You were walking to the Great Hall for dinner, and saw your friends about to walk in. Before a certain stag could enter, you grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back to face you.
"Oi! What are you- y/n!" He had a panicked expression, not expecting you to be the one who pulled him back. You made sure the other marauders were gone before dragging James to an empty corridor.
"What's your problem!" he asked exasperatedly, which made you scowl angrily.
"My problem?! You're the problem you idiot!"
He frowned, about to defend himself but you stopped him before he could.
"You've been avoiding me like the plague for weeks!"
"No I have-"
"Don't even try to deny it! I thought we were friends James."
"We are friends!"
"Then why have you been pretending like i dont exist!?" You shouted, feeling all of your anger bubble to the surface. James raised his eyebrows, shocked at the anger in your voice. you felt tears start to brim your eyes, "...is it me? Did i do something wrong?" Your voice had lowered, filled with fear, and you felt a tear roll down your face.
His gaze softened, "No, y/n, its not you", He said reassuringly. You felt more tears fall onto your cheeks.
"It just feels like I'm losing you James." You looked down at your feet. He lifted your chin to make you look up at him. "You could never lose me, y/n", he said with a pained expression.
Your brows threaded together, "Then whats wrong? Why haven't you been talking to me?"
He's silent for a few moments before finally finding the words.
"...I was scared", He whispered.
You frowned, "Of what?"
"My feelings. I've been so confused-"
"James i don't understand-"
"Please, just let me explain", he said nervously. You nodded, letting him continue.
"..For so long.. I thought it was Lily. I thought she was the one for me. I've been chasing after her for so long.. I was so sure that she was it for me. And then that Amortentia lesson happened. I was so confident it would smell like her.. but it didnt", he looked down and twiddled his thumbs, "It was you."
Your eyes widened, "James-"
"Just listen. I smelled you in the Amortentia. And for days after I was so confused about my feelings - feelings for Lily and for you. But the more I thought about it the more it made sense, and i started realizing how i truly feel. I used Lily as a distraction from the one person I actually loved, because I didn't know how to deal with those feelings. Because the truth is, I didn't know how to deal with the fact that I had fallen in love with my best friend... I love you y/n. It's always been you." He wore a pained expression, "And im so, so sorry i didnt realize it sooner."
You stared at him in surprise, well that's definitley not what I thought he was gonna say.
He grew worried at your silence, "Please say something." He pleaded, which seemed to pull you out of your stupor.
"Broomstick polish, cologne, and freshly cut grass", you stated.
He squinted in confusion, "What?"
"That's what I smelled in the Amortentia.. It smelled like you." He opened his mouth in surprise and you continued, "I love you James. I've loved you for so long, and I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear you say you feel the same way."
James' face brightened, and he pulled you into a bone crushing hug. When he pulled away from it, you noticed how close his face had gotten to yours, and it seemed james did too. He slowly moved his hand to grasp the side of your face, body moving closer as he placed his other hand on your waist.
"Can i kiss you?" He whispered.
You nodded, feeling heat rising up your neck and closing your eyes in anticipation. You felt his face inch closer, and he softy placed his lips on yours. Your hands immediately threaded through his dark curls, and you kiss him harder. You feel him pushing you back against the wall, the hand on your cheek moving down to your collarbone.
The kiss started to get a little more heated, but then you hear a voice across the corridor, causing you and James to separate and look toward the source of the noise.
"Ah! So dinner and a show!" Sirius laughed, Remus and Peter chuckling next to him.
"Oi, shove off" James says, smiling at them.
"But seriously, we're glad to see you too catching up again." Remus added.
"Thank you guys", you say fondly.
You look back at James, "I'm glad too.â you grinned at him softly before looking back at the group, âAlright can we go to the Great Hall now, I'm starving."
Sirius chuckles, "I didn't think you'd be hungry after eating eachother's faces off"
"Shove it padfoot."

Future Hope - chapter 1.5 - Practice Makes Perfect
Our heroes didnt get their powers and knew from night to day how to manage them, especially those who had physical changes to their body. Our soon-to-be heroes were all reunited in Maria's house, they had planed to spend the afternoon practing and exploring their new limits and abilities, all helping eitch other.
They decided since Griff had the biggest change, they would focus on him first. At the moment they were out in backyard, eitch one giving suggestions on what to begin first.
"Pick us all up at once with your new muscles!" Said Muffin excitedly. "That's still too light! Pick us all up plus Maria's car" Said Spike, chewing once again on a bubblegum.
"You all leave Hellride out of this!" Maria responded angrily. "That car was expensive as fuck and I refuse to go back to a life of Ubers!" She crossed her arms, indignified.
"You named your car?" Kip answered from high up a tree branch, as cats do. "I name all my belongings, what of it?" Maria answered. "And they're all cool names, too".
"Hellride? Really?" Spiked scoffed. "Because she rides fast as Hell! Look can we get back on track and find something for Griff to test his strenght?!" Maria answered nervously with a touch of embarrassment.
"Unless we find an Indiana Jones boulder for him to spin on his finger like a damn basketball we arent gonna get any damn progress!" Spike shouted back.
Maria sighed and shook her head. "I hate it when you have a point.." Griff nervously scratched the back of his head. "There must be something we can do.." He quietly mumbled out.
"I got it!" Muffin shouted, they all turned to face her. "I forgot Im a fairy! I can just poof something up!" She said excitedly. Everyone stared at her with either a confused or shocked look.
"..How... Do you FORGET that you're a fairy?!" Spike blurted out nervously. "You have fucking wings! How does one forget they have huge pink glittery wings?!"
Muffin just shrugged.
Maria smiled wide. "OK Muffin, give us something huge and heavy for Griff to use!" Muffin nodded and grabbed her wand which had a muffin on the tip. "Wand cook, beat and bake! Give us a big large and tasty cupcake!" She waved her wand and out appeared from a bunch of pink glittery smoke, a nearly two-story house tall chocolate cupcake.
"... Why a cupcake..?" Blink asked as she peeked behind her mask, in slight awe and wanting to secretly a bite out of it. "I can only make sweets!" Muffin said with a shy tone. "Im not a fighter like you guys, I only want to make people happy and eat candy!"
"That is certainly the biggest pastry I've ever seen! So large and beautiful, I bet tasty as well!" "Not to mention DIABETIC AS HELL!!! We could die from a heart attack eating that! Or worse, we could get fat! Even fatter! And become even uglier then we already are! This is too overwealming I need a nap!"
Rooko and Rooki suddenly spoke, almost taking everyone off guard on how their friend Rook is suddenly two split personalities now based on the Youtube character ENA, one is always happy while the other is always sad, and depending on the situation they can go Manic or Miserable.
"OK Griff, show us what you can do!" Maria shouted excitedly. Without missing a second, Griff bent over and gripped the edge of the massive cupcake, after struggling a bit he slowly but surely, lifted the entire thing over his head, smiling proudly.
His friends cheered and applauded proudly. Feeling satisfied, he dropped the cupcake and dusted the chocolate crumbs off his hands and fur. "Yokusei!" He shouted, and with a naruto-like smoke poof, he turned back to his human self. Maria ran and hugged him tightly, which Griff embraced and hugged back with a slight twirl.
"Griff you were amazing!!" Maria said with a proud tone, Griff slightly blushed pink at the small punk girl and her excitement. "Oh shucks, it was nothing.." He said with a shy tone.
"Well, and seems we concluded Griffin's training." Togekiss said as they took a sip of tea. "He jump twice as high as a two-story house, his punches and kicks can knock down brick walls and possibly more if we werent limited on objects to test it with, he can hear twice as much then a dog could with his ears, and his sense of smell is impecable. Truly Griff is a strong asset to our team."
"I can only train my powers at night.." Said Spooks, holding an umbrella to protect her from the sun, now that it injures her. "Muffin's power is only sweet making. Togekiss has exceptional I.Q and can see simulations in the future like Garnet in Steven Universe, along with their strong telekenisis, and Kip simply draws whatever she desires, whether alive or not and it becomes a reality... That means it's Rook's turn to show us what she can do" She finished.
"Wonderful! It's our time to shine!" "I-I-I not ready! Everyone's gonna laugh at us! I-I might piss myself in fear!" "Oh pull yourself together dear! Our friends wont laugh at us!" "How do we know that?! They're just waiting to correct us on a dumb mistake!!!"
Rook's body shook and twitched as her eyes turned to static, suddenly her entire eyes turned black with a blue iris, she turned Miserable.
"They're gonna laugh and point at our foolish selves, we're gonna be so embarrassed that we'll wish that the Earth will swallow us whole and just fucking kill us now!! Go ahead! Laugh at us and our misfortune!!!"
"ooh shit" Maria said. "can someone calm her down?"
Rook's eyes change to regular as her Miserable side went away. "No need my good Queen! We are completly fine! Now prepare to be dazzled as we show you all what we can do!" q
Rook pulled out a harry potter-like wooden wand, waved it around. "Bloom and Blossom and protect who I love! Rise my pretties, rise high and above!" Rooki shot an orange light at the grass, which made dozens of flowers bloom and grow around Spike and Blink.
"This is only one of my tricks! It's a shield that protects them from almost anything! My main weakness is fire, because while plants are beautiful, they are also sadly very, very flammable"
"Cool." Said Spike before using his bat to aggressivly hit the flowers and the vines aside so he and Blink could leave.
"M-M-My turn I guess!" Rook took hold of the wand and waved it in circles. "Razzle Dazzle Shine and Show, make their body move it low!" Rooko shot a blue light at Spooks, which made unwillingly and uncontrolably start dancing and as the spell said, make her go low.
"O-OH GOD SOMEONE MAKE IT STOP I DONT LIKE HOW MY BUTT IS MOVING THIS MUCH!!" She shouted in desperation as she made a split and moved it even lower.
"M-My deal is with music! I-It works as a way of distraction o-or hypnosis and it lasts for 30 minutes un-le-less I say otherwise! I-I know it's a sucky power!"
"OK COOL CAN I STOP DANCING PLEASE IM GETTING A CRAMP!!!" Yelled Spooks, practically begging. Rooko flicked her wand and Spooks fell on the ground, panting. "OH MY POOR HAMSTRINGS THEY ACHE!!" She yelled in utter pain, meanwhile Maria and Spike were absolutely losing it.
"O-OH GOD MY STOMACH HURTS-" Said Spike in between laughter.
"OK you guys cool it" Said Blink. "It's our turn to practice now. We're the only ones who use regular weapons." She said drawing her sword and positioning her mask back in place.
"O-OK! OK!" Maria said getting up, she pulled out a small staff and whipped it, making it stretch out wide into a full, large red and black scythe, with a rose print on the blade. Spike spun his bat and spat his gum out.
"So. Who's ass Im kicking first?" Said Spike. "Wait on second thought this might be unfair." Said Blink. "Me and Maria had blades while Spike has a bat, maybe we should-"
Before she could finish, Spike swung his bat and hit Blink sword, knocking it out of her hand before kicking her back at the ground. Blink fell back hard before she could even process what happen, dumbfounded but angry, she snarled. "Oh it's on now Motherfucker." She extended her hand and the sword flew back to her hand, as she charged towards Spike, who moved out of the way as soon as Blink swung her sword, which if he hadnt been for Maria's scythe, would have sliced her right up.
"Dude! Chill! This is a pratice!" Maria spoke as both of their blades were against eitch other. Blink hopped and flipped over her and landed on a tree branch, croutching like a ninja. She put her hands together and in a small puff of smoke and disappeared. Spike and Maria were back to back, ready to counterattack Blink, what they didnt expect was for her to attack from underground.
Buring up from the dirt, she got both of them off their feet and charged after Spike, who barely managed to regain his balance before his using bat his block Blink's sword. A back and forth of clash-clings-and-clangs between metal begun, one attacking the other but eitch blocking every attack again and again.
Spike ducked a sword slash and roundhouse kick Blink's leg, which was effective since she's practically a ninja. She backflipped back on her feet and kept attacking swiftly. But a sudden scythe blade cut in between them, stopping the fight.
"That's enough!!!" Maria shouted. "You both are gonna end up hurting yourselves or eitch other! im ending it now!!"
"Oh what the hell dude?!" Blink shouted indignified. "I was about to beat him!!" "Oh please." Answered Spike. "Was that the best you could do? Sakura could do a better job kicking my ass" He scoffed. They began to argue loudly, genuinely angry at eitch other.
"THAT"S ENOUGH!!!!" Maria shouted, making them, and everyone else look at her.
"It doesnt matter would win that fight! This was a practice and not a competition!! The point of us being a team and getting powers in the first place was for all of us to make the world a better place, but the only way that can happen is if all of us work together!! As a team!!!"
They stood in silence, listening to her talk and set them straight.
"As cheesy as that sounds, it's true!! We shouldnt fight eitch other like this, you're not just my friends, we're all friends with eitch other! We all go along well and we know that, that's why I got you all together, because no one can bond better in a team then all of us together!!!"
"... She's right." Togekiss added, walking towards them. "We all started as simple individuals with free time on a website, but we all shared common interests, we grew closer.. And suddenly like that, we all became friends.. A family, if you will."
"We take care of eitch other and look out for one another." Said Spooks.
"Just like how you all did for me.. When I almost died. Almost died because of the shit and violent world we live in." Maria said.. With a slight crack in her voice.
"You're bringing in the same violence that almost killed me.. So please.. Please stop fighting.. We're all in this together.. Right..?"
Spike and Blink dropped their weapons and hugged Maria, and everyone else joined in as well.
"You're right, we're sorry Queen." Said Spike. "We got overwhealmed and we didnt mean it. We wont fight again, because you're right." Added Blink.
"We only have eitch other in this world, and if we want to change it we have to stick together, just like you said." Spike said one more time.
"And we wont let you down.. We promise.." Griff finished, with everyone agreeing with what he said.
And so they stayed for a moment, embraced within eitch other in a group hug. A family isnt perfect, there will be disagreements, but a good bond will always overcome those disagreements, and that's what they had, a good bond.
A bond that's practically unbreakable and untaintable. A bond that will soon be ready, and fight together to make the world a better place.
A bond that will the world's Future Hope..

All Y/N ever wanted was an opportunity to work from home. Then again, who wouldn't want that opportunity? All she could think about was how nice itâd be to work in the comfort of her own home, not have to dress up in business professional clothing, and most importantly be surrounded by the people she cared for the most. But as the saying goes, âBe careful for what you wish for.â
When a global pandemic decided to take over 2020, Y/N certainly got her wish. Her company was forced to work from home until further notice, but what she didnât expect was the amount of work she would be given. Y/N was pulled from project to project with deadlines thin as paper, and was expected to pick up the extra work of those that were no longer with the company. There was no time to catch a breath, and there certainly was no time to spend with her beloved boyfriend, Tom. This only made Y/N more depressed and made the Holland boys only more concerned.
âMate, you got to get her to take a break. Sheâs gonna overdo it.â Harrison commented to his best friend, as they watched Y/N type away like a zombie from the kitchen.
âYou think I donât know that?!â Tom responded with a defeated sigh. âEvery time I ask her, she always brushes it off and claims shes fine. Don't get me wrong, Im proud of her and admire her work ethic, but damn its sucking the life out of her.â
Both Harrison and Tom continued to observe Y/N with a cup of tea on hand, wondering how long it would take before she snapped. Tom hated seeing her like this. To him this wasnât fair. Itâs not fair that her 8 hour shift now became a 15 hr shift. Its not fair that she had to work 3 weekends straight, and it certainly wasnât fair that her company took precious time away to be together. It was hard enough already that he couldnât spend time with Y/N like a normal boyfriend would because of filming. Now, that he has the opportunity to make up for the lost time, itâs taken away.
âWhat if you surprised her?â Harrison quipped.
Tom looked up at his best friend with curious eyes. It took a few minutes to sink in, until the brightest idea figuratively smacked him in the face. âYeah...yeah!â he responded, a smile forming âAnd I think I know exactly how to do it.â
As Tom was working through the thought process of his brilliant plan, his younger brother entered the kitchen, looking for his usual afternoon snack. âHey, does anyone know where â. Oh no...â Harry groaned as he looked up at Tom and Harry. âWhatever it is that you two are planning...Leave me out of it.â
âCome on, mate. You dont even know what were planning.â Harrison defended
âBelieve me, I know enough and any plan that involves you in it, is likely to fail 99.9% of the time.â Harry opened up his bag of crisps as he continued to list out the other 99 possible reason why they should have left Y/N alone like she wanted. âCmon guys, you know how she gets. When she doesnt want to be bothered, she doesnt want to be bothered.â
âYouâre right Harry, but sheâs so stressed, sheâs homesick, and one day sheâs going to overdo it. Id be a shit boyfriend, if I let it happen.â Tom reasoned. âLook, Im not trying to do anything crazy here. I just want to give her that sense of comfort and see her relax.â
Harry looked at his brother and then at Harrison, both displaying their best puppy dog eyes, in hopes that heâll join in. âThe face doesnt work on me...but Iâll help for Y/Nâs sake.â
Meanwhile, Y/N continued her work in the living room, her eyes firmly glued to the computer screen. After being dragged into the kitchen and the Holland plan, Tuwaine slowly made his way to Y/N. âHey Y/N.â he happily greeted. âI think itâs time for you get some fresh air, donât you think?â
Y/N looked up, her glasses slightly shifting forward down her nose. âYou know theres this thing called being stuck in Quaratine right?â she responded, continuing to code her project.
âI think the real question is do you really want to work here when thereâs just nothing but CONSTANT NOISE !â Tuwaine yelled out, hoping the others would catch on.
âWhat?!â Tom yelled back. It took him some time to realize what Tuwaine meant by his statement. âOh...Right!â Quickly, Tom grabbed whatever pot or pan he could grab his hands on and dropped them on the counter. Harrison and Harry gave Tom the strangest look. âWhat? I gave him some noise?â, he shrugged.
âSee?â Tuwaine smiled back at Y/N. âYou wouldnt want to distract that working brain of yours with all this going on, right?â Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as Tuwaine as she looked at him and the closed off kitchen. Did they think she was born yesterday? Of course she knew they were up to something. None of the boys were subtle enough to keep everything hush hush.
Y/N shook her head and decided to just go with it. The faster she complied, the faster theyâd leave her alone, which only meant more time to finish her work. Tuwaine helped carry her laptop, mouse, and charger to the porch as he led her outside. âSee, arent you glad your outside, breathing in fresh air with no distractions?â, Tuwaine spoke out.
Y/N took her time to admire the view. âWowâ, she whispered under her breath. Y/N couldnt remember the last time she set foot outdoors. Seeing the sunlight hit the flower beds, the gentle breeze rustle through the grass; it was beautiful. Of course, the moment was short lived with a simple ding, which only multiplied by the second.
Y/N dripped her head back, trying to rub out the frustration from her face. âYes, well it was fun while it lasted. Duty calls.â
âIm sure they wouldnt mind if you just took five minutes for yourself at least.â Tuwaine commented, feeling bad about the amount of work he saw popping up on your screen.
âYeah well thatâs Corporate for you. Doesnt matter if youâre 500 km away or if a virus is hurting the population. If youâre not working, youâre useless.â Y/N shrugs. It wasnât like her company was completely evil, this was just how business worked.
âI know Y/N, and we all see that you care deeply about your work but weâre all so worried about you too. We want you to be mentally okay as well. I know Tom is worried about you the most...He misses you, you know.â
Y/Nâs heart dropped the second she heard him say it. She knew that all of this was gonna take some time away from Tom, but she hadnât realized how much he would be missing her, even though theyâre living under the same roof. âYeah I miss him too, more than anyone will know. Believe me.â Y/N pondered for a moment as she stared at the work in front of her. Perhaps five minutes couldnât hurt. âMaybe I will take that break after all.â
âReally?â, Tuwaine was surprised she had agreed so quickly, and at the same time he panicked. Tom and the others were not ready for Y/Nâs surprise yet. âOn second thought, Im wrong. You should keep going and try to finish up that project of yours or else youâll never be done.â
âExcuse me?â Y/N asked as she tried to close her laptop. âYou just spent a whole half hour trying to convince me to stop working, and now you want me to go back and work?â
âYeah..I mean what do I know, right?â He laughed nervously. Tuwaine looked back at the door, for some sort of signal. Come on man itâs not like your preparing a break for the Queen of England.
âListen Tuwaine, if I go back there and you boys break anything in that house...I swearâ Iâllâ
âY/N!â Tom interjected as he stepped out to the porch. He wrapped his arms behind her waist, giving her a gently kiss on the top of her head. âHowâs work, my pretty girl?â He looked back at Tuwaine and mouthed a thank you to him as he left the love birds alone.
Y/N turned around to face Tom, taking in his features and running her hands at the nape of his neck. âBusy, but what else is new? Iâve been missing you a whole lotâ
âMe too, darling. Anyway, Im really hoping you can take a break from all this because Iâve got something special for you.â
âOh no, babe. You know you didnt have to anything for me. Really Im fine..I-â
âI wanted to. In fact the boys wanted in on it too. So this is really from all of us, if you think about it.â Tom grabbed Y/Nâs hand as he led her back in to house. âCome.â
As they both enetered the house hand in hand, Tom led Y/N into the kitchen, where the rest of the boys waited with diner burgers in hand and warm homemade chocolate chip cookies on the side of table. What seemed like a simple meal was a cure for any bad day..at least for Y/N it was. It represented a sense of home for her, while being far from Jersey. Even though she hadnt realized it, Tom and the boys knew she needed it. âWowâ Y/N breathed âI...I dont know what to say.â
âDont say, just eatâ Harrison laughed. âIn all honesty this was Tomâs idea. We just wanted to make sure you had the support you need.â
âYeah you deserve this, so please enjoy it.â Harry added. With that, everyone dug in and bonded over a family dinner, sharing laughs and stories. Tom leaned toward Y/N whispering in her ear, âI have a few more surprises after this.â
The next few surprises did not disappointment. He set up a nice warm bath for the two of them to relax and enjoy each others compny. A few subtle kisses, laughter, and silence was shared between the two. Y/N leaned back into Tomâs chest, feeling the water gently flow back and forth. Breathing in and out, she had forgotten how good this felt. Being close to Tom, was a different experience, one that no one could ever do justice. This was what she really needed.
After the bath, Tom led her into their shared bedroom. For a moment, Y/N stopped him as she pulled his head down to hers, giving him the kiss he rightfully deserved. Her lips crashed with his, his hands gently holding the sides of her tiny face. He picked her up as she wrapped her legs around his waist and situated themselves on the bed. Reluctantly, they both pulled away, catching their breath. Their foreheads touching and noses gently rubbing the others. âI love you. I love you more than you could possibly know.â Y/N whispered to him
âAnd I love you. I just want to give you the world because you deserve it all. My hardworking pretty girl.â Of course all good things must come to an end.
After a great well spent break was shared between Y/N and Tom, she was back on the work grind. Only this time she was working in their room as Tom was reading a script for his next upcoming project. The more Y/N coded, the sleepier she was getting. It onyl took a few minutes before she started leaning into Tom and her eyes started to flutter. Her breaths became slower and she was out like a light.
Tom turned to look at Y/N, smiling to see the sight of her finally at peace. He removed her glasses and set them by her table side. Tom made sure to clock her out of work abd checked to see if her work was saved. Just as he was about to turn off her laptop, another message popped up. âGreatâ, he muttered, rolling his eyes at the fact her team is still working at this hour. He couldnt help but read it though. Just how badly did they need her anyway?
We all know how hard youâre working and going above and beyond to get these projects out the door. For that, we thank you! On behalf of the company weâd like you all to take a day off on us!
Tom smiled, relieved that shell finally get some time for herself. Feeling triumphant, he shut off her laptop and set it aside. Crawling back into the bed and covering themselves under the blanket. His arms wrapped her waist once again. âGoodnight, my love. Im so proud of you.â he whispered.

BAKUGO KKATSUKI (x blind reader)
Getting into UA and becoming a hero, is every young kids dream. And for some its more realistic than it is for others. You always thought that your chance was slim, but when the letter came saying you got in to class 1-B, you were more than estatic. When it comes to stealth and combat your quirk comes in extremely handy. Using echo-location you can "see" many things others can't. Your ears are more sensitive to movement and noise, giving you an advantage, even though you are blind.
Being blind you had to have an aid in classes with you to be your eyes during lessons, but during training, you quirk was better than haveing 20/20 vision. UA was very accomotading to you and your aid. And for the most part everyone was nice. Monoma wasn't your biggest fan and often got on your nerves however.
Today as you entered the school someone bumped into you. You figured it was just Monoma picking on you again tho.
"Hey, watch it extra." the person grumbled. Not Mo.. The voice is somewhat familiar though.
"My appologies." You bowed facing what you thought was the boy. He stood beside you and clicked his tounge.
"Whatever." You heard footsteps and figured he was leaving. Quickly you activated your quirk to see his retreating form and some other students in the hall. His hair was spikey and his shoulders were slightly hunched. You tilted your head studying him.
A hand on your shoulder startled you. You turned your head in the direction of the hand. "Oh hey ErushÄŤ." you greeted your aid. "Did you happen to see who I bumped into?"
"Oh yeah, the angry blonde boy. Thats Bakugo Katsuki from class 1-A." ErushÄŤ explains. You think back to the some of the "horror stories" you have heard of the explosive teen.
"I see." You laugh at the irony of your statement. "What color is his hair?" Eru links her arm through yours.
"Blonde. Why?"
"Just forming a mental image." You shrug as the two of you enter the classroom.
(Timeskip to lunch)
ErushÄŤ walks you to the lunchroom and you sit with your usual table group. You think back to your encounter this morning and use your quirk to scan the lunchroom for Bakugo. You see his figure sitting at a table with some other students you assume are from his class.
"Earth to y/n!" Kendo says as she taps your shoulder. "You okay there?"
"Oh yeah. I'm fine." You flash a small smile to your friends, and close your eyes losing yourself in your mental images. They continue their conversation as you eat.
----
"Hey Bakubro!" Kirishima greets him, and scoots over for his friend to sit down. "You've been quiet today."
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean!"
"Ah, theres the Bakugo we know." the redhead jokes.
Bakugo rolls his eyes and lifts his head to see you enter the cafeteria and sit at a table with you classmates. Mina notices him staring and follows his gaze.
"Her name is F/n L/n/." Pretty right! She is in class 1-B."
"Shut up Pinky. I didnt fucking ask." The blonde grumbles and focuses on his food. Mina shrugs.
"I saw you looking, and thought you might wanna know."
"Well you thought wrong." He snaps. A smile creeps onto The pink girl's face and she winks at Kirishima, then guestures to Baku with a nod of her head.
Kiri gets the hint and his eye widen. Sero and Kaminari look between the three of them in confusion. Sero shrugs giving Kami a confused look. And the yellow head returns the look.
"Anyways, so aparently we are training with class 1-B after lunch." Sero says, breaking the silence that befell upon the group.
"Really! Cool!" Mina pipes up.
Katsuki steals a quick glance at you before getting sucked into the conversation by his friends.
(Time skip to sparring)
"Students will be paired up with someone not from their class to train with. Is that understtod?" Eraserhead explains the rest of the rules for training and Mic announces the partners. You were up against a girl named Hagakure. Her quirk was invisibility. You smiled at the perfection of the situation. Someone who is invisible to most, is not to you. You raise your hand.
"Yes y/n?" Aizawa calls on you.
"Could I perhaps have another partner. Hagakure's quirk is invisibility, but I can see her clear as day." you explain. A few heads turn as not many of the A students know of your quirk, but the hero agrees and pairs you up with Bakugo, and giving his partner to the invisible girl.
You all go get changed into your costumes and meet on the training grounds and get ready to spar. Your costume is quite simple. A pair of black leggings with thigh holsters for a few blades to fit. Your (color) top is cropped, sleveless and skin-tight. The lack of sleves allows for straps on your biceps to hold throwing stars. The outfit is pulled together with combat boots and a black blindfold over your eyes for dramtic effect.
"Whats with the blindfold extra? DO YOU UNDERESTAMATE MY POWER THAT MUCH?" Sparks fly from katsuki's palms as he accuses you.
"No, sorry. Its part of my costume. I dont doubt your abilities, Actually I admire how strong you are." You beam at the blonde. A blush tints his cheeks and he is thankful for the bindfld covering your eyes. "Shall we start?" you ask.
He grumbles a response and the two of you fly into action. You immediately activate your quirk and see his figure and take in his costume. Gauntlets. Avoid his hands at all costs. Katsuki moves to launch a blast your way and you move to the side, dodging it effectively. You use this advantage to get closer and land a punch to his shoulder. He spins on you and his elbow makes contact with your stomach. You cough as the wind is knocked out of you and quickly regain your composure. The thing with Bakugo is that he is a loud fighter. So you really wouldn't need your quirk much to fight him anyways. You see, or rather hear, his attacks before they happen.
"Why do you keep dodging? STOP HOLDING BACK DAMNIT!" You laugh quietly and take your blindfold off, wrapping it around your hand.
You decide to humor him and give in to his request. Katsuki is able to land a few hits on you, but for the most part he just tries to avoid your blades. Baku jumps and a blast comes your way and you duck down and slip under and between his legs. You unwravel the blindfold and wrap it around one of his ankles slamming him down onto the ground. You tie it around his other leg, imobilising him on his stomach.
Bakugo puts his palms on either side of him but you grab them and pin them behind his back with one hand, the other holding a blade to his wrists.
"Congratulations y/n." Present Mic says to you. You nod and get off your partner untieing him.
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? YOU DIDN'T EVEN USE YOUR QUIRK! I TOLD YOU NOT TO HOLD BACK!" Katsuki explodes and his hand grabs your throat. His palms are warm and you can feel the slight sting of a burn.
"Y/N!" ErushÄŤ yells as she rushes up to you. Bakugo lets you go.
"Who the fuck are you?" he snarls.
"I am her AID." Eru says firmly. "L/n is blind." You cough and rub your throat and the two of them look at you.
"Im fine ErushÄŤ. And yes Bakugo, i did use my quirk. I may be blind, in a literal sense, but I can still see." He looks at you blankly, then to the girl beside you.
"My quirk is echo-location. I use sounds to see, and you my friend are very loud." You laugh and link arms with your aid. "Good fight." You bow and walk back to the changerooms.
----
'She is blind. That explains why she bowed in the wrong direction this morning, and the blindfold.' Katsuki thinks to himself. 'So she doesn't know what I look like. She probably doesn't even know what she looks like. She can't see facial expressions.'
Part of Bakugo was saddened by that. You were quite a good looking girl. But you would never know it. His thoughts drift to all the things you can and can't do. No wonder the other girl was always with you.
Kirishima clapped Bakugo on the back, pulling him from his thoughts. "Hey bro. How was it?"
Bakugo rolls his eyes and lets out an annoyed "tch," remembering that you pinned him. He shrugs Kiri away and heads to change.
"You should ask her out." the readhead says nonchelantly.
"That's none of your buisness Shitty Hair."
(Time skip)
You sat at home listening to music, when your phone buzzed.
"You have a text from and unknown number: Oi its Bakugo, I got your number from your friend." The automated voice on your phone read the text out loud.
"Text back: Hello there. Smiley face." you say to your phone. "Please name the contact Bakugo."
"Incoming call from: Bakugo."Â You press on the screen to answer the call and hold it to your ear.
"Hello."
"Hi, meet me at the park near the school." Wow he is forward.
"Uhh.. sure i guess."
"10 minutes."
The line goes dead before you can respond and you turn your phone off. That might have been the shortest call ever. You go downstairs and ask your parent to drop you off. 10 minutes later you are sitting on a swing waiting for Bakugo.
"Can you see me?" Bakugo's voice startles you slightly.
"Sort of. I can see the outline of your figure. You have spikey hair." You say. He hums in agreement. You see/hear him move closer and he takes your hand in his, they are surpizingly soft.
"Can you see yourself?" he asks somewhat quieter.
"No, only from what i can feel.." You face him and your empty eyes stare at him.
"Your eyes are (e/c)." he says. "And your hair is (h/c). Your cheeks are pink."
"I know all that. Ive been told." You laugh dryly. "Can we sit on the grass?" Bakugo hums, and brings you out of the sand. He sits down and you sit next to him, bodies touching.
"Why do you keep your eyes open if you cant see?" he asks.
"I guess just to seem a little more normal. Does it bother you?" you explain.
"No. I like your eyes." You smile to yourself. The boy beside you is completly different from the one you were sparring with at school, and yet its the same person.
"I like this soft side of you Bakugo." you say.
'Its only for you.' he thinks. You feel his hand drop yours and move to your cheek. He turns your head to face him.
"Can you see me?" he asks again. You nod your head. His facial features are more visible to you but still fuzzy.
"What color are your eyes?" you ask.
"Red."
"May I touch you?" He doesnt answer, so you clarify. "Your face i mean."
"Yes."
Your hands come up to his cheeks and you take in all his facial features with your hands. Touching people allows you to have a better sense of what the person looks like and you add this to your mental image of the boy.
Katsuki grabs your wrists stilling your movements and brings your hands back down to your lap.
"Now i can see you." you say.
He stares at you for a brief moment and closes your eyes gently. His hand rests back on your cheek.
"Good." is all he says before his lips are on yours.

RWBY LiveThoughts: V8E7
Since I finally have time for it today, lets make sure Im all caught up for the hiatus.Â
Before we get fully started, an idea; Its not a war crime if theyâre Grimm. Then its just self defense. So break out the napalm, the cluster bombs, the chemical weapons, the fun stuff. Make em regret it, yeah?
And we start off...on a farm. Looks like my moms old farm in South Dakota. Even on Remnant, hay is best used in bales.
Waiiiit. Thats the place the Whale set down isnt it. I see a Sayber running. Ah, and the Atlas military! Surely, the vanguard of a massive force to hold the line! Also Im glad to see a close up of the helmet for once, I want to make my own. Also, the gloves, and the rifle itself. Not sure why it doesnt have a stock, seems kind of silly...
And airships too, so they got some fire support...whats that wall behind them though?
Also it TOOK US 8 FUCKING SEASONS to get a close up of these FUCKING Weapons. 8. FUCKING. SEASONS. Okay maybe more like 5 cause they didnt first appear till 3 or so but come on. Im so picking this shit apart later.Â
Pfft, bros got some nerves going on. Come on man, its just some Grimm, youâll be FINE.
Atlas field harvesters resemble Haloâs JOTUN Farming equipment. As wel as our own. No surprise there.
Alright, bunch of Saybers, not seeing much of a threat here.
Hey, Paladins! Damn, they...look way different than I remember them to be.Â
I wont lie, I dont like the Paladin design. Way to much visual noise, I cant tell where anything IS.Â
Also that is the most 2D grass I have sever seen in my fucking life. What the hell are they growing here...
Huh, the whale has two sets of teeth. Wait, its just there? And its wpewing out Grimm. So...why isnt the air force firing on it?Â
Yeah its not moving, its just raising its head and slamming down and vomiting out more Grimm. Im not sure what the issue is here, just...seal the mouth.Â
Oh, huh. Apathys. Let me guess, RTs gonna try and tell us depression is going to kill most of Atlas. Oh for fuck sake. IM NOT IMPRESSED RT. IM REALLY NOT. IM MORE FUCKING ANNOYED THAN ANYTHING
Okay so...I see what this is. Its farm land outside of atlas proper and thereâs an additional wall behind them, plus the power lines I guess? Seems like a viable place to make a stand.Â
...thats it. Please tell me this is just a single detachment of the Atlas military because there is less firepower here than a NATIONAL GUARD UNIT ASSIGNED TO ONE CITY
Im fairly certain there are more people assigned to ONE UNIT attached to JBLM then I amm seeing here.Â
Not to mention this is an OPEN FIELD the Grimm have to run through. This is a literall fucking TURKEY SHOOT. Running across an open field anywhere is a ticket to DYING.
Just ask the poor fucks on D-day.
Also uh...why is everyone in line formation? What is this, fuckinâ 18009s combat Napoleon style?
And did the distance suddenly change, I feel like the whale suddenly got a hell of a lot closer.
Just...I dont get this. This makes no sense. Did Ironwood learn how to deploy forces from a fairy tale book? This is legitimately some fuckin Lord of the Rings shit here.
RIP that one specific trooper hit by that Behemoth though. Dont worry friend, the thing walked next to a Paladin. Its getting its eye blasted out
And cut back to Ironwood. Doing...fuck if I know what.
Staring angrily it seems.
âDammit, my tactical deployment by line formation and parade ground tactics isnt holding back the Grimm, curses!â
Well MAYBE IF YOUD THOUGHT TO INVEST IN SOME FUCKING AIR SUPPORT...Seriously.
I know people have told me why this is. I understand myself why this is. But it really just...does...not...jibe with me. At all.Â
Okay so more details; first, apparently Atlas has a subway. Makes sense, its a big island. Inter-system transits probably a given. Second; Was that Mantis Squad Omega? Some kind of unit maybe...interesting.
Also I love how this guy just questions Ironwood. Like, bro, if the General says do it, do it.
Hold the fuck up, why is everyone outside? It looks like fuckinâ Cali during our lockdowns...what ever happened to martial law huh?
Also âunderground subway stationsâ. Yes, thats...kind of what a subway IS. I guess maybe they have overhead ones like New York does. Mass transit be weird like that.
I mean HELL the signs on it are almost identical to the ones in NYC too! Even with the colored circles and train cnumbers.Â
According to the sign here theyâre at Pickens Square Station.Â
Oh boy. Ironwood just fed these poor bastards into a meat grinder. Anyone here ever played the Metro game series, or read the books?
Remember the Dark Ones? The Nosallias? Yeah. Tight corridors and monsters only work out well for angry vodka fueled Russians.
Didnt see it very well but I THINK those Mantas had some kind of wing gun. Either thats new, a separate armament setting, or RT forgot what ind of weapons they gave their ships AGAIN.
Cant get the shields back up, yeah, no shit, they DETACHED ONE OF THE FUCKING PILOTS YOU IDIOTS.
Also hah, they arrested Yang, Ren and Jaune. Not surprised.
Beta squads apperently been hitting the whale. âBombs, missiles, we cant make a dent, sir.â ...while Im not surprised by this, I also hear shades of the opening of Halo 2s level Metropolis. âWhereâs the rest of your platoon?â âWasted, sarge. Blew right through us. Rockets, fifty cals, didnt do nothing.â
Honestly they could have SHOWED THAT too. Them just saying it feels like a cop out to me. Take that as you will. But if you want us to see the things hard to kill, show it.Â
Not that I figure Atlasâs rockets are much more than Dust in a propellent tank. Not exactly a Hellfire or TOW.
Nice to see proper military talk for...a moment anyway.
Or what I figure RT figures is proper.
Oh so now the whales moving. Okay...huh.
Jaunes commentary is the same as mine. Though I guess the size seems to shift depending.
Ohhh. Its MANTA. As in the gunships. Alright, sure that works. And this guys making a good call. If you cant hit the big one go after the smaller. Of which there seems to be a HELL of a lot. Actually holy fuck that Grimm spew is across like...ahlf the fucking island right now. Time to fuckin torch and burn people.
Ahhhhhh and they get to the proper idea. If you cant punch it from the outside, hit it from the inside.
I knew a crew...three madmen, names of Keegan, Lahni and Mac. The Hivebusters. Something tells me a Venom bomb would do the trick...if it can rip apart Swarm creatures as big as a Snatcher or a Swarmak and reduce them to green slime, I think itâll work on Grimm.Â
Something tells me RT isnt gonna give em a bomb though. Too obvious.
NEVER MIND. âScience team is putting together a bomb.â
Also I LOVE how Winterâs pupils expand and retract in fear as she realizes what Ironwoods asking her to do.
Awww now shes getting the shakes too.
Salem directing this shit like shes some kind of orchestra leader. I mean it FITS but...I dunno.
Ah so the command deck is directly behind the whaleâs glowing nose. Basically inside where the spermacetiy organ would be in a real sperm whale.
What the fuck is Emerald doing there?
Sneaking I guess. Huh. Whyâs she sneaking around the whale. Also, huh. guess seeers can get fooled by Emeralds semblance. Is HE STILL BEATING UP ON OSCAR? Jeez dude. Take a breather.
Honestly if this was TRUE I would be okay with it. Replace the Huntsman with, I dont know, a massively overequipped military for each Kingdom, let them run rampant...stomp the Grimm out or push them back to nonexistence...everyone lives happily ever after
Lets be real here, the idea of the academies? Really really fucking dumb. Its cute. Fairy tale like.
But if theres one thing this show has taught me its that fairy tales SUCK. Reality...tends to be worse.
Ah theres one of those torture hooks they mentioned a few episodes back. Nice of the whale to have a specific interrigation room.
And at last we get some information on how Salem works. Alright so...what happens if you seperate the parts then? Sink one in the ocean, launch one into space.
Sounds like Oz/Oscars telling the fans what weâve been saying forever, Companion Book be damned; Salem wants to die.
These mind games bore me. Its cute, but I dont like it cause I cant follow that shit. Give me a straight up fight any day, fuck this sublty backroom fuckery
No lies from them both here honestly.
Medical supplies in Atlas seem almost the same as here on earth interestngly. Also, soup. Or...coffee, tea?
Blake with the obvious here. But I mean thats not really saying much cause...well. Not hard to outfight the Atlas military it seems like. (Long suffering sigh)
Im gonna make a seperate post about my frustrations with that and leave it there. But dont expect me to stop fully complaining about it because everyones gotta have something to bitch about with this show, and Iâll be DAMNED if I start joining the BB whiners.
Good question, Ruby. Might be that YOUR NOT LIVING IN A FAIRY TALE
Iâd like to see these people dying in Mantle. I refuse to believe that there isnt SOMEONE in the nation that once brought Remnant to its heel that wont stand and fight. Unless Im wrong about that too...
May backstory? May backstory. Yeah. Not amazingly complicated but it works. Cant tell if shes Henry though...or was.Â
Dramatic lightning flash
Cute you think that Ruby. Theres sides. Always are.
Further proof honestly.
Hazels look of though is amusing. Cant tell if he doesnt believe Oscar, or if his tiny peabrain is runing full bore to think this through.
Coordination between farm boy and professor.
Oh. OHHHH. Plants the seed of doubt in Hazels tiny mind, he uses the last question for himself, sees the truth... Clever, Oscar. Clever.
Hazel peabrain go THUNK
Ah so Mercs going off to Vacuo. Guess that means everyone else is going there next too. Eat that, random Discord person, I called it.
Course, CFVYs there so...maybe we get to see Yats beat up on him.
Oh hi Tyrian. Do you just...randomly roam the halls of the whale waiting to DRAMATICALLY REVEAL YOURSELF and give violent expositon? Im very much okay with that.
Also I love how he just...accepts this. Totally fucking bonkers, totally down with it.Â
Oh shit, Tyrian and Mercury going to Vacuo? Damn thats gonna be INTERESTING. I guess Tyrianâll fit in well enough honestly.
Flying Beringal literally out of the roof.Â
I remember back when this season first started and I said those weird bone platforms looked like VTOL launch bays. Guess what? They are.
Merc and Em emotion blah blah DONT CAAARRREEE
Jaune thinking tactically for ONCE IN HIS FUCKING LIFE. An I mean military tactical of course.
Also I like how the Aces say they dont let emotions cloud their shit WHEN THEYVE BEEN DOING THAT THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME.
This ENTIRE PLANET is emotionally run. Thats why the Grimm are such an issue! Makes small note to make Remnant Adeptus Mechanicus cult
Seriously though...
I wont lie though, Hare isnt wrong. Wonder what happened to that Tortuga guy. Tyrian, is my guess. Love how Ren interrupts the moment they almost mention Clovers name.
Expendable, yes. Replacable, no. You should have a talk with squadron leader Grey from Star Wars Squadrons Ren
ANNNNDDD SEMBLANCE EVOLUTION. Or the edibles just kicked in.
This is cool and all but its really fucking dumb and hamfisted. Explain all you want. Mention emotions all you want.
The Aces are fucking huntsmen. HUNTSMEN. FUCKING. SUCK. They always have. Its a dumb idea. Yes, lets stop the hordes of monsters invading this world BY SENDING IN SINGLE OPERATIVES WITH FUCKING MELEE WEAPONS
Iâll make this clear to you, Ren, right here and now. If you faced a REAL elites, you wouldnt have stood a chance. Nor would RWBY. Their bodies would have been three-shot from 20 meters out with a breach and clear and stacked against the wall like cords of wood, one final shot to the dome to make dead sure they were down. None of this stupid flipping and acrobatic crap, none of this clashing weapons and Dust and semblances...no.Â
Youâd be dead before you knew they were there and they would move on. Youâd just be another body to the pile, one more faceless corpse to add to their kill count. A meatgrinder in human form.Â
Professionals. Dont. Lose. AND THE ACES ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS!
Because thats not what RWBYs about, never has been. And that is what annoys me slightly. That and the fact I cant distangle what I know of other universes and our own from RWBYâs. Its hard to hold a universe on its own when everything they make points towards it being like ours, but they change it when they see fit.Â
I feel like thats bad writing.
Hehehe. Winter touched Elms boob.
Glad to know that Winters got her priorities right. Course, that bomb probably aint gonna do shit cause its Dust based.
...again, hoping its a chemical weapon...
Wait, the Atlas forces from earlier are STILL FIGHTING? Damn, these Grimm must suck if they couldnt wipe them out in that little time...
Also I cant tell if its getting dark cause of the storm or if its the dawn of the next day. Or did...they shift time around? I lost track. I SWORE the sun was setting the last time we saw everything.
Also return of the shitty 3D grass...
Marrows gonna defect.
Awww poor Winters got emotions. HEY MAYBE DONT SEND A MENSTRATING WOMAN OUT ON A FIELD OP, ATLAS!
So according to May thereâs still front lines. Cool.Â
AYYY ITS KLIEN! HES BACK
Oh, I guess hes a doctor too. Oh he MAD.
Ayyy Whitleys being USEFUL for fucking once in his shitty life.
Shes gonna hug him isnt she.
CALLED IT. For fuck sake...whatever. Cute. But whatever.
Oh annnnddd now Grimmquake?
No. It stopped...Bolide?
No. PENNY.
Annnnddd shes leaking coolant. And sparking. And dead.
RIP Penny.
The concept art of the beached whale looks so fucking silly. Seriously, just...detach the whole section there. Drop the fucking thing.Â
Oh well.
And thats it for almost two months! Be prepared for me to BULLSHIT MY WAY THROUGH ALL OF IT and continue on with my military fanwank because THATS HOW IM SURVIVING 2020!

character sheet meme
didnt even know this existed so, here goes. original here by @/fraldariius
Characterâs full name: Ignatz Victor
Reason or meaning of name: The literal meaning would be âFiery Conquererâ
Characterâs nickname: Sometimes called Iggy.
Reason for nickname: People just prefer it, he doesnât actually like it that much.
Birth date: 3/14
 Physical Appearance
Age: 17
How old does he/she appear: Closer to 15/16
Weight: A square 100 pounds.
Height: 5â˛4/164cm
Body build: Ignatz is skinny and bony by all regards. He could probably stand to eat more often.
Shape of face: Soft and round.
Eye color: Best described as âcopperâ.
Glasses or contacts: Glasses! (Heâs incredibly near sighted.)
Skin tone: Not sickly, but rather pale. Yellow undertones.
Distinguishing marks: Besides a few scars on his back, not much. ((I guess for note I draw him with a beauty mark sometimes under his eye.))
Predominant features: Very soft, plump, slightly tanned lips.
Hair color: Yellow green.
Type of hair: Sits very straight, reminds others of grass.
Hairstyle: Less of a bowl cut, more of a hair style thatâs grown in a bit too much with straight bangs. He cuts his own hair, please be nice.
Voice: Not deep, a very gentle alto.
Overall attractiveness: Heâs cute if anything. Ignatz doesnât think heâs attractive.
Physical disabilities: Besides the sight qualms, none.
Usual fashion of dress: No preference. The school uniform and occasional company outfit are the fanciest clothes heâs ever had. Otherwise, if it fits, it works.
Favorite outfit: Once again, no preference.
Jewelry or accessories: Usually has his purse over-shoulder bag on him at all times.
 Personality
Good personality traits (5): Kind, polite, understanding, determined, selfless.
Bad personality traits (5): Nervous, self-depreciating, submissive, non-confident, secretive.
Mood character is most often in: Ignatz is usually pretty happy on school grounds, and if heâs not heâs panicking while playing a happy ruse.
Sense of humor: He likes wholesome humor. Dark stuff and pranks arenât his forte.
Characterâs greatest joy in life: To create and make others happy.
Characterâs greatest fear: Rejection from those he loves.
Why? Because he wants nothing else for those people to be happy; If not that then what is he trying for?
What single event would most throw this characterâs life into complete turmoil? If his father were to die/if he lost Garreg Mach/if he were found out as a liar who simply wished to be an artist.
Character is most at ease when: He gets time to dream and create.
Most ill at ease when: He has to be honest about himself, especially if itâll get him hurt.
Enraged when: Ignatz is usually never truly mad. He only truly feels angry when the integrity of what he cares for is at stake.
Depressed or sad when: Heâs belittled or called ridiculous for any of his passions/He falls into a belief that he wonât be able to succeed due to his pathetic nature.
Priorities: Making the people around him happy.
Life philosophy: Positive affirmations are key/What is important must come before what you always want.
If granted one wish, it would be: To be able to paint without consequence.
Why? With unlimited time and stability, he knows he will one day be able to paint something that can make anyone happy.
Characterâs soft spot: People who have felt a similar dejection to him.
Is this soft spot obvious to others? If they related, possibly. If not, he can hide it well since he hides his own issues decently. If youâre Lysithea, heâs an open book.
Greatest strength: Knowing what matters and not stopping at anything to achieve it.
Greatest vulnerability or weakness: Believing heâs too weak and pathetic to accomplish anything of value.
Biggest regret: Failing to help those around him who are in pain.
Minor regret: Not sharing the things he loves with the people who will listen.
Biggest accomplishment: Teaching himself how to paint as realistically as he does.
Minor accomplishment: Getting into the Monastery in the first place!
Past failures he/she would be embarrassed to have people know about: Not embarrassed per say, but he doesnât like talking about how his father rejected him from the company and painting so easily.
Why? It means he has to admit that he has failed his family before, and that he feels like he will keep failing them. Also, heâs scared to paint his father in a negative life.
Characterâs darkest secret: His family life is very, very dysfunctional against him. Hence, his intense pining for their acceptance.
Does anyone else know? What happens in that household has not yet left itâs walls.

Abraham - A RDR2 Fanfic
Fanfic summary [NO SPOILERS]: Lyle Morgan and his eleven-year-old son have a conversation about Beatriceâs death, only for the boy to witness a second one.
Warning(s): Mild language
Authorâs note: Bear with me if not everything in this story is correct. Iâm not entirely sure where Arthurâs originally from (all Iâve heard is that heâs from somewhere in the north), so I just made something up lol. Also, this fic will only be one part. Anyway, hope you enjoy :)
From Lyleâs POV
A FOREST SOMEWHERE IN MONTANA
SUMMER, 1874
Strollinâ through the tall, thick grass, I led my mount around the forest at a casual pace while my son sat on top, consumed by his journal as always. It was an hour or two before midday, and right now, there was a radiant blanket oâ sunshine bathing the entire forest, painting everything with a golden tint. It was beautiful, and I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of the day out here...but this feeling of annoyance just wouldnât stop nagginâ me, and I knew exactly why.
I briefly glanced over my shoulder, peering at my son as he scribbled something down in the weathered pages of his journal.
A quick sigh escaped me.
I didnât know who the hell Arthur got his interest in art from, or why Beatrice even bothered buying him that book, but that child just couldnât seem to take his eyes away from it. Every time I came across the boy, he was always scratchinâ down some fantasy world of his, or creating images of a utopia I ainât ever seen. It was pointless.
He spent more time daydreaminâ in that book than he did playing outside, or hunting, or fishing -- hell, he didnât even know how to read -- and yet, Beatrice seemed perfectly content with it.
Or at least...she did.
Beatrice werenât around no more. She was killed by bandits a few months ago. Robbed. Left on the side oâ the road for the crows to feed on. But Arthur didnât know that. Sheriff told him it was a wild animal that took her. A wolf, to be exact. And he believed him.
I dragged a hand down my face, suddenly feelinâ exhausted just thinking about it.
Had I done the right thing, not tellinâ Arthur the truth about his own motherâs death, I wondered? I figured the kid didnât need to know the morbid details, or even the entire truth, but I still felt like a piece of shit for not revealing the full story -- especially considering that them bandits who killed Beatrice...killed her âcause of me.
I had stolen something from them. Somethinâ valuable. And before it fell into their dirty hands, that âsomethingâ apparently belonged to a rich plantation owner who really wanted it back. Ended up gettinâ one of the bandits hanged, and left them thirsty for revenge. But they didnât have the strength to go after the plantation owner. So, they came after me instead.
They chased me for quite a while. They chased me across the mountains, across the swamps, across the goddamned snow...until finally, they came to their senses and realized there were much better, more convenient ways of hurtinâ me. And thus, their paths diverted to my wife and son.
Those bastards managed to corner her while she was ridinâ to town to do some shopping. Found her on some secluded road between here and the nearest settlement, and ensured she would never return. That was when Arthur went lookinâ for help to find his missing mother hours later, and the sheriff assured him a wolf had gotten to Beatrice.
Christ. I really was a terrible father, werenât I? Not only did I pay more attention to a bottle oâ whiskey than my own wife, I had also neglected Arthur for years on end, and indirectly gotten his mother killed. And the boy was only eleven.
He had spent half of his life not knowing a damned thing about where his daddy was, or even what he did, only to lose the one parent he already had before he could find out.
Lord...there had to be some way to make this up to him.
I looked back at the boy, suddenly feeling an urge to say something -- anything -- to him.
âArthur,â I called out, catching the kidâs attention as his head perked up from behind the journalâs pages, âput that damned book away for a moment, will you?â
The boy hurriedly marked his place in the journal with a pen and shut it closed, resting the object on the saddleâs surface as he hung his head low in shame.
â...Sorry, sir.â He murmured.
I shook my head, lettinâ out a concerned breath.
âYou spend far too much time in that journal. It was a mistake to buy it.â
Arthurâs eyes wandered to the trees towering around us.
âIâm sorry, dad,â he apologized timidly. âBut I like drawing.â
I scoffed. âYeah? Well, I like Poker. But I ainât got time to play it. Too busy worryinâ about survival, and keeping the both of us fed. You canât always do what you want, Arthur. You gotta provide. Things like drawing, gambling...theyâre frivolous. We got better things to worry about.â
The child quirked a brow. âFriv-uh-less...? Whatâs that mean?â
âIt means we donât need to do it,â I explained. âWhat we do need, however, is to eat. So put that journal away and keep an eye out for deer. You was the one who suggested we come out here in the first place.â
Arthur frowned in a discouraged manner. âYes, sir.â
I gave him a stern nod. âGood boy. Now...you said you seen a big buck out here?â
The boy pointed ahead. âYeah. It was by the river.â
I gave the reins a little tug, urging my horse to follow me. âThen thatâs where weâll start. Câmon, Boadicea.â
Continuing our little hunting trip, Arthur and I traveled deeper into the lively woods as creatures of all types scurried around us, rustling blades of grass and alerting the tiny insects that hovered above the plants.
There was a rather peaceful mood to the forest today -- a welcome change considerinâ how chaotic my life usually was -- and I had to admit: some part of me enjoyed being here with Arthur. I rarely ever got to see the boy because of my work as an outlaw, and when I did, he always seemed reluctant to leave the house. Whether that was because he was more of an indoors person, or simply âcause he werenât eager to spend time with me -- I didnât know. But it was good to be with him regardless.
Approaching the large river, I came to a temporary halt as I crouched down and examined the ground, carefully searchinâ for any tracks that couldâve possibly led us to the buck.
The area here appeared undisturbed -- save for the fish flopping in and out of the babbling water -- and as far as I could tell, there werenât no deer running around this section of the forest. Not at the moment, anyway. Maybe they were at a different part of the river.
I took a closer look at the grass, only to be torn away from my thoughts when Arthur raised a question.
âDad?â He asked softly. âCan I...can I ask you something? About momma?â
I paused, thrown off-guard by the sudden change in tone.
âMomma?â I repeated, slowly turning towards the boy. âWhy you wanna talk about her?â
Arthurâs expression sank with sorrow.
âItâs just...you knew her better than I did. Or longer, I guess. And I donât remember her that good. ...Do you?â
I gazed at him in a puzzled manner, admittedly still a bit taken aback by the abrupt question.
â...Clear as day,â I replied, unwilling to sift through the painful memories. âBut that donât matter. Sheâs...she ainât coming back, Arthur. No one does, once they die. Ainât no point in lingerinâ in the past when it can only haunt you. All we can do is move on. You understand?â
Clearly a bit hurt by my response, Arthur dropped the subject and averted his eyes from me, peering over at a nearby gathering of flowers instead.
He slouched despondently. â...I understand.â
That wasnât good enough for me. I took a step towards him.
âLook at me when you say that, Arthur,â I demanded. âItâs important you look people in the eye when you speak to them.â
The boy brought his line of sight back to me, his face veiled behind a very subtle layer of fear.
He straightened his back a bit. âI understand.â
I nodded in approval. âGood. Now...letâs get back to huntinâ this buck. You sure it was around the river?â
Arthur gazed around. âI saw it this morning when I was playing with Copper,â he confirmed. âIt was drinkinâ water right here. Thatâs when I came to get you.â
I observed the dirt underneath me, squinting my eyes as I searched for clues. The grass in these parts was quite thick, so that made it even tougher to spot fur, or dung -- and I still didnât see any deer tracks -- but it certainly looked like another animal had been around here.
I kneeled down, shuffling the grass outta the way with my hand.
âIt looks like some wild horses mightâve passed through this area,â I examined. âBut no sign of deer. Oh, well...the day is still young, and we have some time, so weâll keep looking.â I gestured to a nearby bridge. âLetâs try over there.â
Grabbing my horseâs reins, I continued to guide it through the woods as Arthur scouted the area for me, his big blue eyes scanning the sharp horizon while the sun escalated in the sky. There was a certain determination in his temperament now, and the longer we carried on trying to locate this buck, the more my son seemed to be enjoying himself.
Perhaps there was hope for us, after all.
â...Dad?â The boy called again, making me flick my eyes to the side. âWhat if there are wolves out here?â
I encouraged him to stay calm. âNow, donât you go worryinâ about that. If we see wolves out here, weâll be fine. Weâre armed, weâre fast, and weâre smart.â
Arthur wasnât convinced. â...Momma was smart.â
I sighed in a melancholic tone at that. âYes...she was. But...Momma was killed by a different type of wolf.â
He tilted his head in a puzzled manner. âWhat dâyou mean?â
I gestured to my rifle. âNot all wolves are the same, Arthur. Some use their teeth, some use their guns, and some use their tongue. You gotta be able to identify them when you see âem.â
The kid didnât say it flat out, but I could tell he knew what I was really talkinâ about.
âThose sound more like people.â He replied. I let out a gentle chuckle.
âPeople can be worse than wolves, Arthur. In fact, Iâd prefer a wolf over some oâ the people Iâve met.â
Arthur leaned forward in the saddle, his body swaying along with Boadiceaâs steady speed.
âWhat kinda people have you met?â
I lowered my voice, thinking back to the bandits who killed Beatrice.
âKillers. Thieves. Deceivers. Men who will constantly betray each other even though they share the same motive: greed.â
I turned to Arthur with a remorseful look, hopinâ to do at least one right thing in my life, and use myself as a cautionary tale that money werenât as clean as it seemed.
â...Greed,â I told him, âit breaks people, Arthur. They may not realize it, âcause greed can get you far in this world...but the reward ainât worth it. Not compared to the things you have to sacrifice. In the end, youâll have tons of cash, only to realize that there are luxuries not even millionaires can afford.â
His innocence took over. âThen why do they do it?â
That was a question I asked myself everyday. I shrugged in a disheartened fashion.
âBecause they donât care. So long as their pockets is heavy, and their bellies is full, theyâll keep on going. But like I said, greed poisons you. It kills you. And you wonât even notice until youâre already sittinâ in a grave. So promise me, Arthur, promise me that when you get to my age...you wonât become a wolf.â
Despite evidently beinâ a little confused, the child was able to make some sense of what I just said and agreed to the promise, reassuring me with a small smile.
âI promise.â
âGood boy,â I praised, bringing my mind back to the main reason we came out here. âAnyway, hereâs the bridge. Why donât you hop down and help me find this buck?â
âOkay.â
Sliding down the saddle, Arthur effortlessly climbed down and joined me, scurrying âround like a mouse while he searched for any signs of the buck. But so far, there was nothing in sight.
âSee anything?â I checked. The boy shook his head.
I wiped some sweat off my brow, letting out a fatigued sigh. This animal was certainly proving to be a challenge to hunt down. We had already been in this forest for a couple hours now, and our efforts still hadnât paid off. Part oâ me was almost starting to suspect if Arthur even saw a deer in the first place, and not some other kinda animal.
I decided to take a short break, and turned to ask the boy.
âYou positive the buck was roaminâ around in these parts? Or that it was a buck at all? I havenât seen any tracks so far.â
A soft rustle suddenly reached my ears, interrupting my conversation with Arthur as I reached for my gun, only to be stopped by a sound I didnât expect.
It was a manâs voice.
â...Donât even think about it,â the stranger warned, cocking his own gun. âI will shoot if necessary.â
Freezing at the intrusion, I remained perfectly still and didnât utter a single word as a pair of footsteps steadily approached me from behind, followed by two more men coming in from the front on horseback.
They were all dressed in similar outfits donned with Nevada hats, and I couldnât help but notice the star-shaped badges shimmerinâ blatantly on their chests.
Shit. These were lawmen. What the hell were they doinâ out here? I never expected the law to travel this far into the country. This was definitely odd.
What really puzzled me though, werenât the fact that there were three lawmen just...waitinâ for us out here -- it was more the fact that Arthur didnât seem phased by any of this in the slightest. Just what exactly was goinâ on?
Trotting closer to me, one of the mounted men glowered in my direction as he ordered his deputy to restrain me, his firm, steel eyes never wavering.
I recognized him instantly.
â...Sheriff Buchanan.â I muttered through gritted teeth.
He returned the greeting, scowling from under his hatâs rim.
âLyle Morgan.â
I shrugged at him, unsure of what to make of the situation.
âWhat is this shit? Whatâs the sheriff doing all the way out here?â
Buchanan glanced at Arthur, standing in front of him in a protective manner.
âI told you Iâd use every option I had to get you behind bars, Morgan...and I meant it. You made the choice not to heed my warning.â
Taking a second to process what he just told me, the realization suddenly hit me like a bullet to the gut as I stared at Arthur with a sense of immense betrayal, unable to believe what was happening.
There never was no goddamned buck.
Things was never gonna work out for me and Arthur.
This was all a trap.
My own...son...had turned me in.
He was the bait, and Buchanan was the true hunter.
I clenched my jaw in rage, doing my absolute best to shield my emotions as the deputy kicked me to my knees.
â...A-Arthur...?â I whispered, my voice trembling.
The boy looked me straight in the eye, standing adamantly beside Buchanan as his deputies tied me up. I threw a glare at the sheriff, damning him till my last moments.
âYou bastard, Buchanan...!â I cursed. âYou turned my own damned son against me...?!â
The man showed no guilt and tightened his grip on his rifle, silently advising me to stay back.
âNo need,â Buchanan denied. âYou drove him to me all by yourself.â
He placed a gentle hand on Arthurâs shoulder and guided him towards the second deputy, ordering them to bring him back to town.
âClayton, bring the boy back to the office. Weâll figure out where to send him later. For now though, just keep him safe, and look after him.â
âRight away, Sheriff.â
Preparing both his horse and mine for departure, the deputy left Arthur next to the sheriff as the boy stood firmly in place, his innocent yet damaged gaze never leavinâ mine.
Despite the hint of remorse clouding the childâs eyes, it was pretty obvious Arthur felt he made the right decision in turning me in. And just as Buchananâs second deputy started to drag me away, I couldnât help but notice a beautiful Whitetail buck wanderinâ around in the distance, its majestic antlers standing out like a crown on a monarchâs head as it bathed in the golden sunlight.
The animal swayed its head in my direction, almost as if trying to communicate with me.
âIâm sorry, dad,â Arthur whispered as he walked towards Clayton, blocking the buck in the process. â...But you made me promise.â
Taking his leave, the boy finally mounted up and steadily trotted away from the scene, only to reveal an empty spot where the buck once stood as he left the forest.
Well...I may have found the buck like I planned, but it werenât my job to kill it.
And it certainly werenât my place to look for it.
I could hunt them down to my heartâs content, and kill âem all I wanted for my own desires...but in the end, they would always be able to afford the one luxury Iâd never obtained.
Peace.

ok looks like this time of posting is becoming a theme recently. i didnt want it to be this way but life gets in the way. anyway, we are at the 9th chapter! to recap: last chapter erin fed a drake named relc and an antinium (bug people) named klblch. they turned out to be guardsmen from a local city the bugman, klb, used a pretty high grade healing potion to cure erins hand, which turned out to be from the fish!Â
Erin woke up with a big smile on her face.
Actually, she woke up and went back to sleep several times before the sunlight got too bright to ignore. But when she eventually got up and ate breakfast she got around to the big smile.
It came when she was eating more blue fruit and she realized she was using two hands. Erin had to stop and stare at her right palm for a while. She poked the clean, unscarred, uncut skin and grinned.
âHealing potions are awesome.â
She sat back in her chair, flexing her hands. It didnât hurt. It was amazing how much it didnât hurt. And she owed it all to a giant ant man and a lizardâŚDrake. What were their names again?
âKlbkch andâŚDrake Guy.â
Erin sighed as the memories returned and gave her a hard time.
the pleasure of waking up and going back to sleep a couple times is greatÂ
âSeriously. They were so normal. But apparently Iâm normal too. There are other humans around here at least. But leveling? Classes? Am I an Innkeeper? Do I innkeep? How does that work?â
Then she remembered something else.
âI leveled up again.â
Erin poked her chest. She felt there should be some sense of accomplishment from within, but all she felt was vaguely full. But she remembered.
â[Basic Crafting]. Might as well give it a shot. Iâm out of fruit, anyways.â
i dont know what crafting has to do with fruit but im excited to find out what sort of fruit based things can be crafted
It was an uneventful trip to the blue fruit trees. As Erin gazed up at the blue fruits she wondered for the first time how many there were left to eat. She counted.
ââŚLooks like Iâve got a few weeks before I run out. But bleh, eating just blue fruit all the time would be disgusting. At least thereâs some ingredients left for pasta if I can find more eggs.â
But what would happen when her small cupboard ran out? What then?
Erin touched the pocket of her jeans and heard the clink of coins. Right, she had some money. But how much was it? And more importantly, how could she spend it? It wasnât as if she could eat metal.
Grumbling to herself, Erin loaded up with blue fruits. It was getting annoying carrying them all by hand. She dropped a lot of them which bruised the skin and made the fruit taste mushy. So why not try making something?
Erin stared at the ground. She hadâŚgrass. She stared at the trees. She had wood. But she had no way of cutting that wood, so it was no good. She stared at the grass. Something in her brain lit up.
âLetâs see. If I take this long grass and tie this knot hereâŚâ
Erin hunkered down and started picking the longer clumps of grass and testing their durability. She started tying knots and cutting with the knife. She found she had to focus on her task â she couldnât just go on autopilot, but at the same time there was a certainty in what she was doing. And in less than twenty minutes she was looking at a basket made of grass.
âWhoa.â
Erin held up the basket and inspected it. It was lightweight, but durable. She experimentally tossed all the blue fruits sheâd gathered into it and lifted it. The grass basket pulled downwards, but the woven handle didnât tear. It was a real basket. Made of grass.
Was it tacky? Yes. Did she feel like she should be dancing with pom poms on a deserted island? Yes. Was that a terrible thought to have? Probably. And should she feel ashamed of herself? She already was. But she had a basket.
And more importantly, she had a plan.
good thing there is a city nearby, you dont have to rely on these food sources. also it seems [basic crafting] is very goodÂ
What could you do with a basket? Well, you could eat and walk at the same time since you had a free hand. Erin cored a few blue fruits and hung on to the seed pods. Then she went looking for eggs.
It took her about an hour before she found another nest. When she spotted the telltale brown shape hunkering in the long grass, Erin stomped over making as much noise as possible.
This time the thing that erupted from the grass didnât fly away immediately. Instead, the dino-bird screeched and dove at her. Erin stood her ground, reached into her basket and threw a seed core.
She missed.
But the flying object spooked the bird. The giant pterodactyl wavered, and then flew away as Erin hurled more seed cores at it. She laughed triumphantly and rushed to grab the eggs. That was when the bird turned around and flew at her, pecking and trying to bite her. It wasnât afraid of the seed cores after all.
no the birds arent afraid like the crabs!Â
Only when she was sure that the dino-bird had gone did Erin stop running. She stopped and covered one of the numerous bloody peck marks on her arms and back and tried not to shout.
âStupid thing.â
At least it hadnât been bigger. Erin had managed to smack it a few times until it stopped trying to bite her face off. But that didnât mean sheâd gotten away unscathed.
Erin hissed as she pressed on another bite. She wanted nothing more than to get some cold water on them. Too bad there were more suspicious rocks in the way. Actually, there were about six of them, spaced out across the grasslands. Well, her trick hadnât worked on the birds but rock-crabs were a different matter.
On her way back Erin pasted two of the rock crabs with the slimy seed cores when they shuffled at her. They didnât like the noxious liquid that splashed their shells and retreated with loud clicks. Erin wiped off the foul-smelling juice from her hands and walked past the herd triumphantly.
but its still good to know the seed cores work on the crabsÂ
It was just past midday when Erin got back to the inn. At least sheâd stopped bleeding on her walk back. She made it halfway through the innâs door, blinked, and threw up.
Erin stopped gagging and retching long enough to stare at the pool of liquefied blue fruit in horror. Then she was sick again. And again.
Somehow, Erin made it to the stream. It was combination of walking fast and pausing every few minutes to throw up that got her there. She didnât so much as jump into the stream as fall into it and began shivering as whatever was hitting her really went to town.
â-
The next hour saw her kneeling at the stream, gargling water, puking it up, and watching out for the crazy fish. Fortunately, they didnât seem inclined to get near her. Actually, she saw one swim towards her and start nibbling at the contents of her stomach as it washed downstream. That was gross.
Erin washed her mouth and hands off for the tenth time and felt the shaking and nausea stop a bit.
âWhatâwhat was that?â
Erin could only mumble as she stared into the water. She moved her headânot so much out of desire for movement as to watch for the dangerous flat fish.
The fish that had been eating her vomit was floating belly-up in the water. Erin saw the other fish were avoiding it just like they were avoiding her.
ââŚPoison. Gotta be.â
But was it delicious food poisoning where you got to eat twice, or the other kind that kind made you turn green and die?
âWell, whatever. I feel better now so Iâll figure it out later.â
dont drink too much water, you will barf! also yeah, evil fish arent goodÂ
Erin walked back to the inn as the last urges to puke left her. Sheâd gotten off lucky she supposed. It had only been an hour or so of feeling terrible. If it was actually seriousâ
Erin had to stop and smile. Serious? Back when she hadnât been struggling to survive, oh, three days ago, being that sick would have ended up with her in bed for the next week.
âAnd Iâd have a team of doctors feeding me pills by the pound too.â
She laughed softly. Then her smile vanished. Erin covered her face with her palm.
She trembled.
And then she walked on. It was getting dark. She couldnât stop just now.
She was in too much danger.
yeah erins mind has probably gone back into panic modeÂ
The key to distracting oneself was motion. Erin moved around the inn and kept busy. She cleaned the vomit off the floor, washed the plates as best she could with some of the water, helped herself to a bit of pasta and brought out more plates and silverware to the common room. Then she stored the eggs and blue fruit away in one of the cupboards, went upstairs and cleaned a few rooms. She was moving, but really she was waiting.
âThey said theyâd visit. But did they mean that or are they busy? Either way, I can always make more pasta and save some for later, right?â
She had a pot full of hot pasta in the kitchen and sheâd served and eaten her own plate of buttery noodles with blue fruit juice before she realized it was dark. Hopefully Erin stared out one of the windows, but the grasslands were empty. The sky was so amazingly vast, the stars so numerous. It was beautiful, frightening. Erin would have loved to stare at it if she were at home, but what she was really hoping to see were two figures. But she didnât.
âThey must be busy.â
Erin sighed to herself. But it wasnât that early in the night after all. She could wait.
The young woman sat at the table, her stomach full, her clothes torn and dirty, her eyes drooping. But every few minutes her eyes flicked to the stout wooden door. She was waiting.
as ive said before, those noodles and blue juice sound delicious!Â
Relc stretched in his chair in the Guardâs barracks. It wasnât too crowded in the early evening, most guardsmen having checked out already or begun their evening patrols. Those who remained in the building were almost entirely Drakes, aside from a few tall, furry, humanoid [Guardsmen]. And they were all busy with their own tasks.
The Senior Guardsman cast an irritable eye over at the large, hunched insect hovering over a table next to him.
âAre you done logging out for the day yet?â
âAlmost.â
Klbkch made a precise notation with a quill on a sheet of parchment.
âThere. I have signed us both out. Again.â
âGreat. Thanks. Now, wanna go check on that Human? I hearââ
A female Drake shouted at Relc from across the room. She was nowhere as large as Relc, and she wore chainmail and a sword at her hip as she stomped up to him.
âThereâs a brawl in the marketplace. Get over there and stop the fighting!â
âWhat? Some idiot had to start a fight now of all times? We were going to go back andââ
âShut up and get moving!â
ââŚJerk.â
âA pity. Letâs be on our way.â
âWhat a pain. Letâs smack some scales-for-brains quick. Maybe weâll still have time to go to the inn afterwards.â
âYou know we will be called upon to go after those who got away. And there is damage assessment, guard detail, investigating any burglaries during the violenceâŚâ
âAw.â
âDo not fret. The Human will not be going anywhere.â
âI know, I know. But I was going to eat more pasta andââ
âRelc!â
The angry shout made Relc wince and cover the two holes on the side of his head.
âAlright, letâs go. Man, I really hate the Captain.â
âDonât insult her while we are within earshot.â
âShe can eat my scales. Letâs go and get this over with.â
âAfter you.â
oh noÂ
Erin sat at the bar counter in the inn and waited. All was perfect.
Well, all was sorta perfect. It was at least acceptable. She had a basket of the blue fruits, more pasta in a large pot, and sheâd even drawn a fresh bucket of water from the stream. She had very nearly spotless plates and silverware and all in all, she was ready for some guests.
If theyâd ever arrive.
Eventually her eyes drooped. Her breathing slowed. She fell asleep while dreaming she was still waiting and awake.
she fell asleep before they could come back. they are late!Â
Thump. Thump.
Erin woke up. She raised her head and looked around groggily. It was dark.
Thump. Thump.
Something was at the door. Erin wiped the drool off of her chin and got up from the table. She must have fallen asleep waiting. But here they were. She stumbled over to the door and shivered. It was cold. Actually, it wasnât just cold. It wasâŚfrosty?
The doorâs handle was covered in a thin layer of ice. From behind the door Erin sensed something chilling, and she could feel a cold draft blowing from beneath the crack. Or was that the shivering sensation running down her spine?
Thump.
Erin jumped back from the door. That wasnât knocking. Something was hitting the door. Hard.
âHey. Whoâs there?â
She wished her voice wasnât so wobbly.
âA visitor.â
Was it a whisper? No. It was more like an echo. It sounded like a loud voice coming from thousands of miles away and it had an unearthly quality to it. No voice could be so deep, so spine-chilling.
âUm. Weâre closed. S-sorry.â
The something on the other side of the doorâŚchuckled. It was probably a chuckle. It was wet and gurgling.
âIt matters not. I require sustenance. Food. Prove that to me and I shall be on my way.â
Food? As in the fleshy variety? Erin shuddered.
âI donât have any. Go away!â
âI will not be denied. Open this door or face my wrath.â
That was enough for Erin. She backed away from the door.
âIâm warning you! Come in and Iâll, IâllâŚâ
dont mess with erin mysterious visitor, she has knives and shes only a little afraid to use them!Â
âDo not anger me further. If you refuse my simple request I willââ
She didnât wait to see what the voice would do. She could guess. Instead, Erin ran to the kitchen. She needed a weapon. A knife, a piece of wood, a spatula, anything.
Erinâs hand had found the handle of a pot when the scrape of wood made her breath stop. Sheâd forgotten. Sheâd been waiting for Klbkch and his friend. So that meantâ
The door was still unlocked.
Something was pushing the door open. Erin sprinted back to the door and threw her weight against it. She knocked whatever it was back, but she couldnât close the door fully. It was in the way.
âThis is unwise. Your insolence will only bring about more punishment.â
The creature hissed at Erin. She could hear it right outside the door. It was pushing, trying to get the door open. But Erin was fueled by pure fear and she somehow managed to keep the door where it was.
âMistress. All I ask for is a bit of food. Provide me that and I shall be on my way.â
The skeletal creature reached its hand through the doorway. Something dark dripped down out of its bones. It splashed against the wood and vanished.
âI do not wish to become angry.â
Her hand was on the cooking pot. Her heart was dead in her chest.
âNo.â
âNo?â
The skeletal monstrosity seemed to recoil. It pulled the door further open and something noxious wafted in.
âA pity. But I will have you provide me with sustenance nevertheless.â
Erin seized the door and tried to close it, but the creature hurled it open. She fell back and stared in horror.
A thing with too many bones and pieces of flesh gazed down at her. It gave off a ghastly smell and crimson light flashed from its eyes.
âGive me what I desire. Or I shallââ
Erin screamed and hurled the pot.
well now we know where the skeleton went. lets hope this goes well for erin!Â
thats the end of the chapter btw. im tempted to do the next chapter today as well, but ill stay to the schedule! we shall both suffer for this cliffhanger!Â
will erin survive this encounter? will the guards save her from this skeletal monstrosity? will erin beat it up before they get there? will they ever get there?Â
see you tomorrow!Â

Title: Heart on His Sleeve
Words: 8,805
Summary:Â There's a complication on the way to Bergentown. Well, actually, there's about a dozen complications, beginning with a pack of spiders and ending with Branch's heart on his sleeve in nearly every sense of the term. Mid-film AU.
Read on Fanfiction or AO3Â
Notes:Â dghtghbfgb still not pleased with that ending but this is actually based off a writing challenge - and I can't remember where I read the prompt for the life of me, so please don't ask me to source. anyway the challenge was basically to write a story that doesn't have a happy ending, or it had to leave something, or everything, completely unresolved. then I got wind of a prompt going round the Trolls fandom - and I can't source that either hjtrfgbfdfv im gARBAGE - where either Branch or Poppy reveals their feelings to the other, whether accidentally or intentionally. both ideas intrigued me, so I decided to double them up into one. it didnt come out the way I wanted it to, but it's all right I guess.
It's been three hours.
It's been three hours, it's been three long, awful, unbroken hours since Poppy went running off on this stupid suicide mission of hers in the first place, and so much can happen in three hoursâanything can happen in three hoursâshe could be hurtâor sickâor even deadâor what if the Bergen came back, and found her wandering around out here, probably singing at the top of her damn lungs, and what if the Bergen captured her, too? What if the Bergen ate her?
Or maybe she got lost, or maybe a predator caught herâmaybe a predator caught her, maybe she's being devoured painfully, right now, and Branch can't do anything about it because he was so stupid and stuck-up and waited thirty minutes before he left the bunker and started after her because he told himself he ought to make her wait, ought not to seem too worried about herâhe should have just swallowed his damned pride and gone straight after herâcaught up with herâmade some excuseâsaid one of her was better than all two hundred of them, back in the bunkerâ
God, he shouldn't have let himself get so caught up trying to think of an excuse to follow her in the first placeâhe should have just done it, and damn the consequencesâwho cares if Poppy knowsâ
Oh, if he could just find herâ
A brief, bright flash of vivid pink, barely peeking out between two towering, lavender trees grabs his eye, and his heart does a funny little leap in his chest.
It's her.
It's actually herâhe'd know those colors anywhereâno one else in the village, no one else in the world, can compete with her radianceâhe rushes through the treesâthe low-hanging limbs scratch at his face, and he shoves them out of the wayâhe doesn't have a second to wasteâhe doesn'tâ
Oh.
Shit.
Okay, so there are spiders. There are a lot of spiders. And PoppyâBranch doesn't even think she's conscious, lying there like she is, flat on her back on the ground, wrapped up in a silken webâher eyes are shut and from this distance, it's hard to tell if she's breathing, but she has to beâshe has to beâspiders like their prey alive, or at least recently deadâthey wouldn't come near her if sheâbut she's only been gone three hours, so maybe the spiders don't mind ifâno, no, no, he can't think like that, he can'tâ
Branch throws out a thick tendril of coal-black hair, and loops it firmly round the web, dragging the limp princess toward him.
The spiders go still, momentarily perplexed by the loss of such an easy mealâthen, in eerie sync, they turn to look at him, their eyes glistening like jewels.
Fear rises up in his throat, scorching like fire, but he swallows it down, and pushes Poppy behind himâhe's got something bigger than himself to worry about, someone more important to protect.
He's got a few knives strapped to his packâgrabbed them from the bunker before he leftâhe'd be damned if he went charging off to Bergentown, completely defenseless, just because Poppy had got it into her head to try and give him a heart attackâbut looking away from the spiders is a risk he isn't brave enough to take; he reaches blindly for his packâmaybe, by some miracle, he'll grab oneâand his fumbling fingers close around something cool and heavy andâand decidedly not a knife, but he's got no time to be picky about this. It'll have to do.
He hefts the frying pan up; the spiders don't seem to know what to make of it. Chances are, they've never seen one, and probably think it's a weaponâif he could keep them at bay through fear aloneâif he was on his own, he'd chance it, but the unconscious princess makes him even more cautious than usual. He can't let anything happen to her, no matter what happens to him.
He tosses the pan at the spiders and, marvel of marvels, it actually hits one â strikes it full in the head with a satisfying, resounding clang, and for a minute, he lets himself hopeâbut the creature shakes off the blow, and takes a step forward, clicking its pincers threateningly.
Okay, shit.
No time for knives. No time for pans.
He ditches his pack beside Poppy's motionless form, and shakes out his hair; the dark, bristly strands respond immediately, lashing out at the spidersâdriving them together, driving them backâfor a second, he's almost elated by the easy victoryâand then a flash of movement from the corner of his eye cuts his premature celebration shortâhe stopsâturns aroundâhis heart jumps into his throat at the sight of the spider, somehow broken away from the rest, dipping its head down toward Poppy, pincers clicking rapidly, and mouth opening as it prepared toâ
"No!"
Branch charges at the creature, fury bringing his blood to a boil in his veins; he swats the spider asideâthe force of the blow sends it halfway across the clearingâits hairy purple body slams against the trunk of a nearby tree, and it doesn't move again, and a sense of savage satisfaction burns in Branch's chest at the sight. Bet the rest of them will think twice now before getting too close to herâ
Pain.
Grey skin splits clean under snapping, woolly pincers, and hot blood bursts from beneath, streaming thick and inky down over rough brown clothâthere's suddenly soft grass under his knees, and it takes him far longer than it should to realize he's fallenâthere's a weird sort of sound in his own earsâlike screamingâhe thinks maybe it's him screaming, but his vision's going splotchy and white, and he can barely see a foot in front of him, and every breath is a new lesson in agony, so his screaming doesn't stopâcan't stopâoh, God, please, just stopâhe's going to die if it doesn't stopânoâno, wait, he can't dieâhe can'tâhe has toâhe has to keep Poppy safeâkeep an eye on Poppyâhe has toâhe hasâPoppyâ
Poppy.
He wrenches his eyes openâhe can still see then, even if the world's blurrier than it should beâhe looks around for the princessâthere she is, barely three feet from him, still wrapped up in the web, her pink hair still peeking out the top of it, surrounded by spidersâsurrounded byâsurrounded byâno.
He rips himself free of the spider atop him, its pincers still clamped firmly round his ribsâand another burst of burning pain races through him, but he clenches his teeth, tight so he won't scream, and forces himself to keep goingâthe skin tears further, and fresh blood rushes instantly to the surfaceâhe rolls away when the creature makes another grab for himâits forceps close around air, and it swings around with a snarl, glittering eyes locking on him, but he scrambles over to Poppy anyway, plunging into the mass of spiders, tossing them aside with his hair, dashing them away when they try to get close, felling them, until the ground's littered with their motionless, hairy bodies, skinny green legs spread at odd angles, until he's gasping for breath.
He slumps to the ground with a soft cryâhe can't keep it in anymore, hard as he triesâhe lifts his vest to examine the biteâit throbs horribly beneath the fabric, pulsing an angry, vivid redâhis dull skin looks even duller against all that scarlet.
Branch struggles to remember all he can about these sorts of spidersâhe knows he's read about themâhe recognizes the intricate patterns in their many websâwaitâwait a secondâhow could he have forgottenâ?
"Poppy!"
She'sâshe's okay, right? She's got to be okayâthe spiders didn't get close enough to actually start eating herâand she was safe, cocooned as she was in that web the entire timeâbut if something happened to her before she got trapped in the webâif she was hurt before thatâ
Branch pushes himself to his feetâhe's not sure howâhis ribs protest, and violently at that, every time he even breathesâbut somehowâsomehow, he makes it over to her side, and presses his ear against the silken wrapping, where her chest must beâhe can't hear anythingâhe can't hear anythingâwhat if she'sâwhat if sheâokay, okay, don't panicâdon't panicâcan't help Poppy if he panicsâhe can't help Poppy if he panics, and he has to help herâokay, he needs to get her out of the webâfind a way to get her breathing againâshe's probably suffocating in that webâ
"Hang on!" His voice comes out weak, and hoarse from all the screaming, and the words burn on their way out, but they fill the silence, and that helpsâsilent and Poppy just don't belong in the same sentence, everâand he'll never tell her to shut up ever again if she opens her eyesâneverâ
He pushes the pain to the back of his mind, and bolts over to the other side of the clearingâthat flower over there, by that treeâa neldaâpetals like knife blades, just as sturdy and twice as sharpâif anything can free Poppy from the web, it'll be thatâand glowbugsâglowbugs love neldas, don't they? Yeah, he can see a few on the tree trunk right next to it, scuttling up and down the mossy pale wood, buzzing and droningâthe glowbugs canâthe glowbugs shouldâhe doesn't know, he's never triedâhe's never had to tryâbut he's heardâhe's readâhe's read something about glowbugs, and how they can jump-start somebody's breathingâhe repeats the instructions under his breath to himselfârub the bugs togetherâpress firmly down on the victim's chestâas he grabs one of the needle-sharp pastel petals, and seizes the glowbugs by their rock-hard, iridescent shells.
The nelda's petal, when he returns to Poppy's side, slices neatly through the thick, strong silk easily as warm butter, and the sight of her in full has him letting out a breath of relief. She's fineâshe's absolutely fineânot hurtâa little dirty, maybeâthere's a smear of mud on her cheek, and some sort of greenish goo clinging to the hem of her dressâbut she's fine, she's fineâshe's not hurtâshe'sâbut she's not breathing, either, and fear sets his hands to shaking so badly it's a miracle he hasn't let go of the glowbugs yetâwaitâthe glowbugsâ
Rub the bugs together, that's how the book said you were supposed to do it, so he does, raking the creatures against each other by their soft, unprotected underbelliesâif he wasn't losing his mind over Poppy right about now, he'd probably worry about how much this could be hurting the bugsâa faint, green-blue spark flares up momentarily between them, there and gone in an instant, but it's enoughâpress firmly down on the victim's chestâBranch jams the bugs, probably a little harder than he needs to, over Poppy's heartâher chest swells beneath her dress, blue fabric stretching taut for a moment, and Branch almost begins to hopeâand thenâand then she drops back to the ground, body slack as a dollâit didn't workâit didn't work it didn'tâhe didn't do it rightâhe messed up somewhereâmaybe there's something else, something he's supposed to do afterwardsâsomething to help her wake upâmaybe he just missed a stepâmaybe he just forgot somethingâit's been a long time since he read the bookâwhat else had it saidâ?
"GET BACK UP AGAIN!"
Poppy's awake.
Oh, God, Poppy's awakeâshe's awake, she's okay, she's singingâhe should probably hush her before she can attract some sort of predatorâhe doesn't know if he's up to another fight so soon after those spidersâno, never mind, she's fine, she's not singing anymore, just looking at himâ
"Branch! My man!" Her face lights up, the corners of her mouth rising into a dazzling grin. "You were right on time!"
Right on time? Wait a second, was she expecting him this entire time? Seriously? How can she have seen through him so completely? Does sheâdoes she know? No, there's no way she can knowâhe's good at hiding things, like the stupid, funny little flutter in the pit of his stomach every time he looks at her, or the verses that write themselves when the sun catches her hair just right, or her voice carries all the way to the edge of the village where he can hear it, too. She can't know. Can she?
"Oh, right," Branch scoffs, and even rolls his eyes for good measure â she doesn't know anything, and so long as he just acts natural, it'll stay that way. "Like you knew I was coming." He realizes, as he says it, that he's still clutching the glowbugsâwhoops, sorry, guys. He puts them back on the groundâthey can find their way back to the nelda from here, he's sure. Nothing could keep them from the flower they love so much.
"Yes," Poppy says, breaking through his thoughts.
Horror floods him at her responseâshe knew he was comingâshe's been counting on it, evenâbut there's no way she can knowâno way she can have figured outâ
"I figured, after the third hug time, getting eaten by a Bergen wouldn't seem so bad." She shoots him a small, snarky smileâwell, snarky for her, anyway.
The panic drains away, replaced instantly by relief and something a bit like irritationâwell, if he'd known she was just going to hand him a perfectly good excuse on a silver platter, he wouldn't have wasted half an hour agonizing over her smug, satisfied face when he did finally break and follow her. Okay, so she doesn't know. She doesn't know, and one more nasty comment should drive the point home.
"And I figured there was no way you could do this by yourself." It takes him about half a second to come up with it; he knows he's cycled through at least a dozen variations of that one by now, but she swallows it every time. He even throws in a smirk, and folds his arms over his chestâokay, okay, ouch, vest dragging over injured side, ow. "Guess we were both right." He should probablyâprobably tell Poppy he got bitten, right? He needs to get a better look at itâmaybe wash it out, and if it's bad enough, break out the herbs and ointments in the front pocket of his packâonly if it's really bad, though, he can't go using that stuff left, right, and centerâhe needs to save it for if they really need itâon the inexpressibly slim chance that Poppy's friends are still alive when they get to Bergentown, they'll probably be badly hurtâand if Poppy gets hurtâno, no, he'll forego the medicines. He'll be fine without them. He can handle a little pain.
"All right!" Poppy doesn't look at all bothered by his previous commentâwhich, okay, fine, he should have seen that coming. She usually doesn't let him get her down for long, even when he's at his absolute worst. "Let's do this!" She turns on her heel and sets off between the treesâway too happily for somebody heading for certain death.
Branch moves to follow her, but his ribs throb again with the motionâhe really should just tell her he needs a minuteâit won't take him long to wash and dress the biteâbutâwellâhe doesn't like it when anyone knows he's hurt. Even Poppy. He doesn't like anyone thinking he'sâhe's weak, or fragileâdoesn't like anyone thinking he needs them, because he doesn'tâand he doesn't like it when they try to help him, because he doesn't need that, eitherâhe doesn't need anyone trying to help himâhe doesn't want anyone to help himâhe doesn't want people to be nice to himâhe's worked so hard to make them hate him because that's what they should doâafter what he's done, everyone should hate himâeven Poppyâespecially Poppy. He doesn't want her to help him, or be nice to him.
He can take care of the bite later. By himself.
Even overzealous, pink-haired princesses have to sleep sometime.
And speaking of overzealous, pink-haired princesses, this one is still skipping merrily on ahead of him, and he did not drag himself out of his bunker just for her to get into another life-threatening situation so soon after he got her out of the first one.
"The sooner we get to Bergentown," she chirps, her small form slipping between two close-growing trees, "the sooner we can rescue everyone, and make it home safely!"
The words set off more than a few alarm bells in his head, and he hurries after her, ignoring the pain this time. "Wait, wait!" He pushes between the two trees to keep her in his sights â she's moving so quickly, it's hard to keep track of her. "What's your plan?" Please let her have a plan, at leastâŚ
"I just told you," Poppy turns around to give him an incredulous look, like he's the one acting like an imbecile. "To rescue everyone, and make it home safely."
âŚOr not.
This is going to be a long day.
"Do you have to sing?"
Okay, it comes out a little harsher than he really meant it toâand she's actually doing a pretty okay job of keeping it quietâquiet enough that, on any other day, he'd pretend he didn't hearâlet himself listen, for a few minutes, to her voice, savoring the sweet and silvery soundâbut he's got a weird kind of pounding in his head, so bad he can barely think, so bad the soft, distant trilling of faraway birds is agonizingâand his side's been throbbing for the last hour, and he doesn't think he can handle her voice, beautiful as it is, on top of that.
"I always sing when I'm in a good mood!" Poppy objects.
Branch swallows back a groan. Of course she does. "Do you have to be in a good mood?"
"Why wouldn't I be? By this time tomorrow, I'll be with all my friends!" Though he's got his back to her, he can hear the soft patter of her feet on the ground, and knows she's close behind. "Ooh, I wonder what they're doing right now!"
"Probably being digested." He doesn't know why he says it â maybe it's just that he wants her to be quiet, and reminding her that all her friends are more than likely dead at this point seems a pretty good way to make that happen. Or maybe he's just a jackass looking to make her as miserable as he is.
Poppy huffs. "They're alive, Branch! I know it!"
All right, nowânow he's pissed.
"You don't know anything, Poppy!" He turns to face her â she's closer than he expected, and he doesn't like it. How did she get near enough without him hearing it? "And I can't wait to see the look on your face when you realize the world isn't all cupcakes and rainbows! 'Cause it isn't!" Even the sound of his own voice makes his head ache anew, but he ignores it â he can't stand another second of this. He can't let her go on thinking like thisâthe way he did, before he lost the last person in the entire world that had ever mattered to him, and had to build a whole new life out of his own broken pieces.
"Bad things happen." He turns away from her â he's scared she'll see something in his face â and keeps walking. His ribs flare up with fresh pain, demanding his attention, but he ignores that, too. He can't stay still, not when he's thinking ofâŚof⌠"And there's nothing you can do about it." He can still taste the lyrics on his lips, and hear her last screams echoing endlessly in his ears, crying out for mercy that would never come. Mercy that would never come because of him. Because he'd been stupidâhe'd been carelessâhe'd been singingâwhy had he been singingâ?
"Hey, I know it's not all cupcakes and rainbows!" Poppy catches up to him easily, planting herself in front of him. "But I'd rather go through life thinking that it mostly is instead of being like you!" The way she says the last word, spitting it out like some kind of curseânow that kind of stings, to tell the truth. Not like he doesn't deserve it, though.
Another round of pain rips through him like a blade, fierce and sharp and suddenâevery step sends a pang roaring through his ribs like fire, and he nearly goes to his kneesâhe's not sure he can keep goingâhe's not sure he canâno, he can still hear Poppyâsomewhere beneath the aching in his head and the throbbing in his side, he can hear herâshe's saying something about singing and dancing, and how he won't do eitherâhe's got to hold it together as long as she's here. They'll make camp, and she'll fall asleep, and he can deal with it then.
Right. Okay. Now he's just got to keep movingâjustâgot toâkeepâ
He falls.
The ground is soft and mossy beneath his palmsâhe tells himself all he's got to do is give a little push, dust off his shorts, pretend it was only a stumbleâhe can do thatâhe canâhe canâPoppy's here, and he's got to protect Poppyâhe doesn't have time to be acting so weakâso frailâhe's not weakâhe's not frailâhe's fineâhe's fineâ
Dark spots dance across his vision, so big they blot out the skyâthen the treesâ
"âso grey all the time! What happened toâBranch? Branch, what's wrong? Oh, my god, are you okay? Branch? Branchâoh, my godâBranchâ!"
There's lots of light.
That's the first thing Branch notices when he wrests his eyes openâthey don't want to do itâthey want to stay closed, mostly because it feels like someone's resting a few hundred pounds on their lidsâbut he makes them open anyway, because he's pretty good at ignoring himself when he doesn't want to do somethingâbut he doesn't even get to feel accomplished, because there's lots of light, so much, and it's so bright, that his eyes start filling up, flooding with reflexive tears. He snaps them shut again with a groan he can't quite stifle.
He feelsâŚweird, he realizes, after a second of thought. His head feels fuzzy, like somebody reached in through his ears and stuffed his brain with cottonâcotton soaked in molasses, maybeâthat would explain why his thoughts are so slowâ
"Branch?"
Wait! He knows that voice! It's beautiful, captivating, and he wants with everything in him to answer itâgive it whatever it wantsâthe entire worldâthe sun, the moon, the stars from the sky, anythingâ
He opens his eyes again.
Poppy's leaning over himâher face in shadow, so he can't read her expressionâ her body blocks the light, and it forms a kind of halo around herâ a warm golden glowâit makes her look likeâmakes her lookâ
"Angel," Branch breathes. "Y'look like an angel."
Poppy draws back slightly, and presses her lips together. "Branch, what happened?"
He shouldn'tâhe shouldn't answer that, right? He has a sort of nagging feeling that he shouldn't answer itâthat maybe he shouldn't want to answer itâbut Poppy wants him to answer, and he wants to give Poppy everything in the whole entire world, and then he'll give her everything in the whole entire universe, and he'll get to see her face light up in that special way it does whenever she's really, really happy, and that'll be everything in the whole entire universe to him.
Except when he tries to answerâhe can't.
"Y'look like an angel, Poppy," is what comes out instead.
Poppy looks, for a second, like she's going to shout at himâhe hopes she doesn't, because the weird fuzzy feeling in his head is starting to fade, only that means his head is starting to hurt a lot, and he's pretty sure shouting will only make it worse, but he doesn't have the energy, or the words, to tell her soâand he knows if she knew how bad his head hurt, she wouldn't shout, because she's the nicest troll in the whole entire universe.
But then Poppy swallows, and says in a strange, tight, not-Poppy voice, "Stop it, Branch."
"You do, though." It's suddenly really important, the most important thing in the whole entire universe, that she knows this. "Y're so beaut'f'l. The most beaut'f'l troll in the whole entire univ'rse."
Now Poppy's starting to look, if he's reading her right, a little bit worried. "Branch, are you okay?"
"I think so?" Is he? He hasn't really stopped to think about itâhis head's hurting pretty bad, and his side is, tooâhe thinks maybe his side is even bleedingâhe frowns, rubbing lightly at his ribsâyeah, the skin is wetâa warm kind of wet, but wet nonetheless, and a little bit sticky, tooâoddly bareâhe looks downâohâhis vest is gone.
That should probably upset him. He's never liked seeing his skinânever really been able to stomach all that grey staring back at himâjust another reminder of how hopeless and unlovable he isâbut he's too tired to care all of a suddenâtoo tired to hide everything he's supposed to hideâ
Oh, Poppy's touching himâshe's put her hand, palm down, on his foreheadâlike how his grandma used to check his temperature when he was sickâher fingers are cool against his burning skin, and he presses closerâit's like he can't stop himselfâhow he loves to be touchedâ
"Okay, buddy," Poppy smiles at him, but it looks forced, "you'reâyou're pretty warm, huh?" She takes her hand away again.
Branch wants to ask her to keep touching him, and never stop, but he can'tâhe can't ask that of herâeven with the murky haze in his head, he knows thatâif she's not touching him, it's because she doesn't want to, and he can't blame her one bitâwho would ever want to touch a grey trollâso instead he just says, "Guess so."
"All right, Branch," she drops down into a crouch until they're eye-to-eye, "I know you gotta be really tired, and you're probably not feelin' your best, and I'm real sorry 'bout this, but I'm gonna need you to tell me what happened to your side, okay?"
"Myâmy side?" Oh, right, yeah, his side is hurting. His side is bleeding. His side isn't supposed to be bleeding. Blood's supposed to stay on the inside. What happened to bring it to the outside againâ? Oh. Right. "Sp'er's."
"Wait, wait," Poppy narrows her eyes, "the spiders? The ones back nearâ?"
"Mm-hm." Branch tries to nod, but his head hurts too bad. "One of th'm bit me. R'ly hard." He rubs ruefully at his side again. "It h'rt."
"Branch." There's something in the way she's looking at him that makes him wonder if he said something wrong, and her voice is suddenly strange and tight and not-Poppy again. "That was hours ago!"
"Mm-hm."
"What theâwhy didn't you say something?"
That's a pretty good question, now that he thinks about it. Why didn't he say something?
Oh.
Right.
"I was taking care of it by m'self."
"Takingâtaking care of it?" Poppy raises her eyebrows, and they practically disappear into her bangs. "You passed out, Branch."
"Didn't mean to," Branch protests. His tongue is thick, and heavy, and so much slower than he'd like. "I was g'na take care of it." He's notâhe's not really taking care of it, is he? He should get on that. Just as soon as he can sit up again. Just as soon asâjust as soon asâbut he's so tiredâand his body feels so heavyâand the ground is so softâŚ
"Branch!" Poppy's voice sounds like it's coming from really far awayâlike maybe they're standing at opposite ends of the forestâlike maybe they're standing at opposite ends of the whole entire universeâbut Poppy's calling for him, and he'll always answer her when she calls, no matter whatâ
He opens his eyesâhe didn't realize he'd closed them in the first place. "Wh't? Wh't s'it?"
"You gotta justâyou gotta stay awake for a few more minutes, buddy." She says it more seriously than he's ever heard her say anything in his entire life. "You gotta answer a question for me. You think you can do that?"
He's tiredâhe's so tiredâmore tired than he's ever been, except for maybe that time when he was awake for almost five days straight because the nightmares about his grandma were getting too badâhe's so tiredâand now that Poppy's asked him to stay awake, it's suddenly the last thing in the world he wants to doâbut Poppy wants him to do itâPoppy needs him to do itâso he forces his eyes to stay open, and he nods.
"Great!" She beams at him, and it makes him feel warm and nice and good all overâshe's so amazing and incredible and goodâan angelâ
"Can you tell me anything you know about those spiders that bit you? Anything you know that can help treat their bite?"
"Theâthe sp'ers?" Branch frowns. Why does she want to know about them?
"Yep, you got it! The spiders!"
"U-umâŚokayâŚ" He does know stuff about themâhe knows he doesâhe's pretty sure he read a book about them onceâa book that mentioned their biteâhe shuts his eyes againâhe can see the page in front of himâlittle black letters on a yellowed pageâif bitten, follow these stepsâhe opens his eyes.
"W'terâŚ" He swallows, and starts again. He tries to speak more clearly this time, but his mouth doesn't want to obey. "Gotta rinse the bite withâwith w'terâŚthen take s'm more w'terâŚmix it with s'mâŚs'm saltâŚ"
Poppy laughs. Incredulous, from the sound of it. Like he said something funny. He doesn't think he did.
"Sorry, what?"
"Salt," Branch says, and it actually comes out sort of comprehensible this time. "It helpsâhelps s'm'ne not die."
For a long timeâlong enough to be eternity, he's sure, long enough for the entire universe to live and die and live againâfor a long time, Poppy doesn't say a word. Thenâfinallyâstaring at him like she can't completely believe what she's seeingâ
"You're serious."
"Ab'tâab't the salt?" Branch frowns. What about that is so hard to believe, anyway? "Whatâwhat's wrong with salt?"
"It'sâit's salt! You can't ask me to rub salt in your side, Branch! That'll hurt!"
"But I'm n't askin' you toâŚ?" Where did she even get the idea that he wasâ?
"Okay, um," Poppy bunches the hem of her dress up in one fist, pink knuckles going pale around the soft blue fabric. "Um, what happens if we don't put any salt in it? Do you know what happens to the bite then?"
Branch tries to picture the page again. "Death, I think."
"And with the salt"
"Not death. St'l s'm weird side 'fects, tho'."
Poppy wrinkles her brow. "What kind of side effects?"
Branch has to think about it. "R'ly high f'ver," he says at last. "S'm p'pl act kinda giddy 'cause of the ven'm, but s'm of 'em just get really confusedâŚs'm of 'em get really talk'tiveâsay stuff they shouldn'tâŚ" He's pretty sure there's more, but he just can't remember them all, and the look on Poppy's face makes him think it probably wouldn't be a good idea to recite them even if he could.
"Okay, well," she unclenches her fists and smoothes out the wrinkles in her skirt. "we'll, umâŚwe'll deal with that stuff as we go, yeah? First let's get that bite taken care of."
Branch doesn't want to do itâhe wants to shut his eyes, and go back to sleepâhe's tiredâbut it's really not a good idea to leave his side the way it isâhe really hates it when Poppy's rightâhe rolls over onto his kneesâbraces his palms flat against the groundâpushes himself to his feetâokay, owâ
"What are you doing?" Poppy gets up, too; she's got her hands on her hips, and a disapproving little frown on her face, and for a minute, he gets distracted thinking about how much he'd love to lean in and kiss it until it turns back into a smileâno, focus, Branch.
"Taking careâŚ" The whole world starts to spin, but he steadies himself, and continues speaking. "Taking care of this." He presses a hand to his side and whoa, the world's spinning even fasterâmaybe he's dancing round and roundâno, that's crazyâhe doesn't danceâ
"Taking care ofâ?" Poppy's looking at him like he's crazyâand he'll admit the thought has crossed his mind before, but he's pretty sure that's just thanks to the weird, godawful panic that sets in when he spends too long thinking. "Branch!"
"What?"
"I meantâoh, my god, Branch, I meant I was going to take care of it!"
What theâ?
"D'nt be rid'c'ls, Poppy." He has a nagging sense that he could probably win this argument if he could just speak a full sentenceâoh, God, the world's starting to spin againâmaybe he should sit downâjust for a minuteâjustâjust long enough to get his bearingsâjust long enough toânoâno, he's fineâhe's had worse than thisâhe can handle thisâit's only a biteâwaitâhang onâwhat was he saying? Ohâoh, rightâ
"D'nt be rid'c'ls, Poppy, it's my probl'm, and I'll take care of it."
"You're the one being ridiculous!" She gestures at him. "You can barely stand!"
"S'not true!" Oh, he is kind of hunched over though, isn't he? He should probably fix thatâmaybe then she'll believe himâhe stands up a little straighter andâoh, God, noâthat was a bad ideaâthat was a terrible, awfulâthe worst idea he's ever had in his entire lifeâincluding the time he tried to survive on dirt and tree barkâoh, Godâhe doubles over, one hand still clamped over his ribsâand then his legs start to shake, and the world's spinning even faster, and he can't keep his eyes open any longer, and he can't stand up at allâhe crashes back to the groundâhe can't help itâPoppy's panicked cries echo in his earsâhe wants to answer herâhe just needs a minuteâhe just needs a minute, and then he'll get back upâand he needs to tell her so, but somewhere between his thoughts and his tongue, the words get lost, and nothing comes out at all.
For a minute, he lays where he's fallen, eyes screwed shut, and teeth clenched tight until the worst of the pain has passedâand he knows he needs to get back upâhe knows he doesâbutâthe silenceâthe stillnessâit all feels so goodâ
"So," Poppy's voice is so much closer than he thought it'd be, and he startles, eyes snapping openâshe's standing over him, with her hands on her hipsâshe looks like an angel again, standing with her back to the light. She drops to her knees on the ground beside him, and raises her eyebrows. "You about ready to let me help you now?"
She doesn't look like an angel anymore, now that she's out of the lightâbut she looks like Poppy, and that's even betterâshe's justâshe's just Poppy, just kneeling beside him, being Poppy, face all scrunched up against the sun, high ponytail drooping slightly to the left, stray wisps of rich, rose-colored hair glistening momentarily golden in the lightâher dress has a little tear near the collarâher cheeks are smudged with dirtâand she's never looked more beautifulânever looked more like herâhe's always dreamed of seeing her like thisânot singingânot dancingânot putting on a showânot painting on a smileânot performing for anybodyâjust being Poppyâand it's the best thing in the world that she could ever be, and the sight of her like that, the sight of her just being Poppy, pulls words from his mouth before he even knows he's going to say them.
"I love you."
He doesn't really mind that he said itânot reallyâeveryone in the village loves herâeveryone in the world would love her if only they met herâhe only wants to add his love to the pile nowâwhile she's sitting there being Poppy, and no one and nothing else.
She stops.
"What?"
"I love you," he says again, but it comes out all weird, his voice too slow and slurred to really sound like him. Did it sound like that the first time? Is that why she's looking at him like that? Because she can't hear him? He swallows and says it again. "I love you." And thenâjust because he canâhe says it again. "I love you." And it just keeps coming out, messy and garbled and the farthest thing from perfect. "I love you I love you I love you I love you s'much. I love the way when you hear a new song, you don't stop singin' it for a weekâand you tell anyone who'll lis'n how much you love it, an' try and make everyone sing it with youâand I love the way you wrinkle up y'r nose when y're 'nnoyedâŚand the way y're so good to ev'ryb'dyâeven meâeven when I'm n't good to youâeven when you know m'not g'na be good to youâŚand you inv't me to all y'r p'rties even when you know m'g'na say noâbut you keep inv't'n me anywayâand I love the way you get all 'cited when you see a r'nbow in the sky, or a flower at the end of winter 'cause then you know spring's c'min'âan' I love the sound of y'r voiceâeven when I say I hate itâs'the nic'st voice in the whole villageâan'âŚ" He wants to keep going, but his voice gives out on him.
And then he sees she's staring at him. She's staring at himâand she's completely stillâand she's not movingâshe doesn't even look like she's breathingâand he wonders, for a minute, if maybe she didn't hear him this time eitherâif maybe she needs him to say it againâ'cause he willâhe'll say it all againâevery wordâif that's what she wantsâhe'll say it all againâand he opens his mouth to do itâbutâ
"What?" Her voice comes out quietâand breathlessâand uncertainâmore uncertain than he's ever heard itâmore uncertain than he's ever wanted to hear itâand she's looking at him like she's never really seen him beforeâlike he's something new, and unknown, and a little bit frighteningâand he doesn't know whyâbut he knows he doesn't like itâand he knows she must have heard himâshe must haveâdid he do something wrong?âhe's always doing something wrongâalways saying things he doesn't meanâbut he meant thisâhe meant it more than anythingâ
"IâŚ" Poppy swallows. Leans back. Leans away from him. "I think maybe your fever's getting higher." And she smiles at him again but it's not really a smileâit's all forced and twisted and wrongâshe doesn't believe himâshe doesn't believe him when he says he loves herâwhy doesn't she believe himâwhy doesn't she believe himâ?
He'll just have to say it againâsay it betterâ
"I love youâI love you s'much, Iâ
"Branch." Poppy isn't smiling anymore, not even that forced, twisted, wrong smile. "Justâjust stop itâplease, just stop."
"But I do." Why doesn't she believe him? Everyone loves herâthey can't help but love herâand she might think he's different but he's not. "More than anyth'n'. I loveâŚ" He has to think about it for a second â he wants to be specific, but it's so hard to pick just one. "I love y'r eyes," he finally settles on. "Y've gotâŚy've got the most beaut'f'l eyes I've ev'r seenâlikeâlike two poolsâso deepâ'f I dive inâI'll n'ver come up f'r air." Okay, he didn't mean to repeat that stupid poemâdefinitely not his best work and he knows itâbut maybe Poppy will finally listen to him nowâfinally believe him. "And y'r smileâthe sun 'self turns j'lousâŚr'fuses to come out from beh'nd the cloudsâ
"Okay!" Poppy's voice sounds much higher than it should, and beneath her freckles, her cheeks look pinkerâis she getting a sunburn? She should put some cream on thatâwait a minute, did he even pack the sunburn cream? "Okay, so, um, you needâyou need to stop talking! Save your strength! Am I right?"
"No, waitâŚ" He doesn't want to save his strengthâhe wants to tell her about how her smile is the brightest and prettiest smile in the entire worldâhow she's the brightest and prettiest troll in the entire worldâhow he wants to hold her hand and braid her hair and hug her and pick her sunflowers because they're her favoriteâand he wants to tell her how he only started planting sunflowers in his garden in the first place because she said they were her favoriteâand he wants to tell her he was lying when he told her he only planted them because of their medicinal properties.
"Water!" Poppy grabs his pack up off the groundâhe doesn't know how he didn't see itâshe lifts the flap and starts rummaging through it. After several seconds, she pulls out one of the small brown canteens he'd thrown in there before he left, and it sloshes loudly when she sets it down. "Water! Right? To rinse the bite? Yeah! Water! Yes! Okay!" Even for her, the aggressive exuberance is more than a little over the topâand she can't seem to keep a hold on the canteenâshe fumbles with itâdrops it on the ground a few timesâ
"H-here," Branch smothers a cough, and reaches to pick it up for herâher soft, smooth pink fingers brush briefly against his own callused greyâand she snatches her hand back like he burned herâher cheeks are even pinker nowâalmost redâhe really hopes she takes care of that sunburnâit's getting worseâ
"Thankâthank you." She takes the canteen from his hands, but she won't look at him. "Let'sâlet's get a look at that bite now, okay?"
"Hey! Feelin' better?"
Before he's even opened his eyes more than a fraction, Poppy's chirping out the words like some kind of overexcited, early-morning songbirdânot that he'd tell her thatâshe'd probably just take it as some kind of complimentâoh yeah, she asked him a questionâdidn't sheâwaitâwhat does she meanâ?
"What happ'ned?" His voice sounds weirdâkind of slurredâand there's a godawful pounding in his skull, and a dull sort of ache in his sideâlike a couple Bergens used him for a kickballâbut he forces his eyes open anyway because he needs to hear the answerâandâ
And Poppy's leaning over himâway over himâreally, really close to himâher nose is practically touching his nose and he can count every glimmering freckle on her face he can count her every eyelash he can feel her warm breath on his neck and her lipsâher lips are so close to his lipsâhe can still make out a faint, shiny smudge of pale pink gloss from the party the other nightâbefore the Bergen attack and all andâ
The Bergen attack. The other trolls in the bunker. The way to Bergentown. The spidersâ
His memory shorts out, and gets fuzzy a few minutes after that. He got bitten by the spidersâhe got Poppy out of the webâand they kept goingâand thenâand then PoppyâPoppy stood over himâher back to the lightâlooking likeâlooking likeâ
"Angel. Y'look like an angel."
NoânoâGod, noâhe didn'tâ
"I love you I love you I love you I love you s'much."
Noâno, there was no way he actually said that, rightâ?
"âŚLike two poolsâso deepâ'f I dive inâI'll n'ver come up f'r airâŚ"
Oh, God, he did.
He said itâhe actually said itâand Poppy'sâPoppy's still hereâof fucking course she's still hereâshe's too damn nice for her own goodâshe probably wants to leave, but she won'tâshe wouldn'tâPoppy's hereâPoppy's here, and she's really, really close to him, and he can barely think with her this close to him so okay get her away from him get her away from himâhe meets her eyesâand he refuses to think of all the stupid shit he must have said with that spider venom in his systemâif he thinks about that, it'll be impossible to hold her gazeâand he needs to keep looking at herâneeds to make her think he's not embarrassed even if his cheeks are burningâneeds to make her think he's not scared even if he's going out of his mind.
"There's this new thing going around." His breath hitches, his voice threatens to give out, but by some miracle, he manages to keep it together. "Called personal space. Maybe you ought to try it."
Poppy huffs out a laugh â not the reaction he was expecting â but she leans away from him, and sits back on her heels. "Guess you are feeling better, huh?"
No, actually, he's kind of dying inside, considering how last time he was awake, he made a complete ass of himself and told her he was in love with herâGod, he can't believe he actually said the wordsârecited his goddamn romantic poetry to herâprobably with a stupid grin on his face the entire timeâand what the hell is he even supposed to do now? Should heâshould he say somethingâshould he say something aboutâabout itâ?
No, no, no, no, no, there's no way he can do it, no way he can look her in the eye and remind her of all the stupid, sappy shit he saidâeven if it's just to apologize for itâeven if it's just to tell her he didn't mean itânoâthere's no way he can do that.
Soâwhat, then? Don't say anything? Pretend it never happened? Just keep going like everything's fine, like everything's totally normal, like he didn't tell her all the things he told herâoh, God, he can't believe all the things he told herâshe probably can't, eitherâshe'll probably try and bring it upâwhat if she tries to bring it upâ?
Okay, no, wait, he can handle thisâhe can handle this. He can do this. He won't say anything, and he'll pretend it never happened, and he'll just keep going like everything's fine, and he'll be awful to her, he'll be so awful to herâworse than he's ever beenâand by this time tomorrow, she'll have forgotten everything he saidâand if she remembers, she'll write it offâshe'll never believe he meant a word of it if he just makes himself as horrid and unforgivable as possibleâ
Okay, yeah, he's fine. He's got a plan, and he can work with anything the world throws at him if he's got a plan. He pushes himself up on one elbow. "We should get moving." Pretty good start â short and sharp, no room for a response. Now he just has to make her absolutely hate him, and everything should be fine. He struggles to sit upâhe smothers a gasp at the sudden flare of pain in his ribs, tearing through him like a lanceâ
And then Poppyâ
Poppy reaches out, and puts her hand on his chestâshe tries to push him back downâand he's pretty sure he should be fighting her, but under her hands, his every last ounce of strength deserts himâjust take it easy, Branchâyou've still got a low feverâand you don't want to make the bite any worseâand he's pretty sure he should be arguing with her, too, but he can't stop staring at her fingers on his skin long enough to listen. He hopes to hell and back that she can't feel how hard his heart is beating all of a sudden.
He lifts his eyes to hersâit takes so much more effort than it should to look away from her hand, and when he finally does, she's right there, so close to him, at least as close as she was when he opened his eyesâcloser, evenâhe could swear itâhe can see the smudged gloss on her lips againâand he could kiss her right nowâhe really couldâoh, Godâshe's leaning closerâshe's actually leaning closerâthis is really happeningâhe doesn't even know how to kiss anyoneâhe never hasâhe should stop thisâhe has a planâhe has a plan, and he should stick to itâhe swore he'd never tell herâhe swore he'd neverâbut God, he wants toâ
Poppy's mouth is barely an inch from his own when she speaks. "BranchâŚ"
"H-huh?" Oh, God, this is really happeningâthis is really happeningâthey're really going toâ
"Did youâ?" She's so close to him. "Did you meanâ? Did you mean what youâ?" She stopsâshe doesn't finish the sentence.
But Branch hears the last word, as clearly as if she'd spoken it aloud, along with all the others.
Did you mean what you said?
He already knows the answerâhe can feel it rising readily to his lipsâyes, all of it, every wordâbehind his lips the truth burns to be spokenâand heâ
He swallows it back.
"No." He shuts his eyes â now that he's not looking at her, it's so much easier to breathe. Now that he's not looking at her, it's so much easier to remember why he can't tell her the truth. "Definitely not." All right, maybe he didn't need to add that last partâit's one thing to lieâto say whatever it takes to get her to believe himâwhatever it takes to put her at ease again, to get her to relaxâwhatever it takes to spare her feelingsâeven if it means burying his ownâhe can't imagine how she'd feel if she knew he actuallyâsomebody like himâand somebody like herâandânoâjust noâeven in his wildest fantasies he can'tâ
"I didn't think so!" Poppy leans away from himâas far away as physically possible. She scoffs again, and laughs a little. "Of course not!" Something in her voice sounds offâand when he looks up at her, there's something in her eyesâin her faceâin the way she's smilingâin the way she's looking at himâsomething just doesn't add upâbut she's laughingâand she sounds nothing short of relievedâsoâ
"Yeah," Branch sits up again, and this time, she doesn't try to stop him. "No."
"Totally not!" Poppy shakes her head emphatically, and laughs againâshe's making this so easy for himâswallowing down every word without even hesitatingâ
He should be over the fucking moon.
Butâ
"Right." He nods. "Yeah. Exactly."
"Exactly!" Poppy echoes. "IâI meanâew! Right?"
âhe isn't.

Futures Known But Unspoken
CHAPTER 20 Patience is A Virtue Lane was woken up by someone shaking her shoulders, the woman groaning slightly before turning her head to see Balin standing behind her. âWake up and gather yourself lassie; weâre leaving,â the older dwarf claimed, releasing her shoulder. Lane groaned again but nodded, knowing that they had stayed long enough as it was. Balin quickly left the room as Lane managed to drag herself out of her bed and throw on her clothes, flinching and letting out a small whimper when the collar of her tunic brushed against her head. After readying herself and quietly leaving her room, she quickly found the others silently standing by the stairs, Belle appearing behind her not a minute later with something strapped onto her back that Lane didnât recognise. âLetâs go,â Thorin ordered, leading the way. Everyone nodded and followed after their leader, being sure to keep quiet so that their leaving would go unnoticed. Belle quickly fell in step with Lane giving her friend a groggy smile which Lane did her best to return. âIs that a bow and quiver?â Lane asked with a small laugh. âYeah, as much as I wanted to stick by your side when you were knocked out, everyone kept hounding me to do something. Glorfindel was actually the one who helped me to learn, this is the bow he offered to make me yesterday,â Belle hummed, taking the weapon off of her back and showing it to her friend. âSo thatâs why you seemed so relaxed around him; youâd met him before,â Lane hummed, finally connecting the dots. âWell Iâm glad you werenât moping, not like it ever does any good.â Belle rolled her eyes but couldnât help the smile that spread across her features, pulling on the bow string a few times causing it to make a small humming noise before placing it on her back once again. As the group reached the borders of Rivendell, rather than taking the path they had coming in, Thorin lead them out a hidden eastern road that had them climbing up a nearby cliff. âWell I hope youâre happy,â Lane whispered. âAbout what?â Belle asked, giving the taller a confused look. âWe wonât be riding ponies until⌠later,â Lane snickered, giving her friend a knowing look. Belle couldnât help but beam, the smile quickly leaving her face however when Lane teetered to the side mid-step, Belleâs arms instantly shooting up to steady her. âAre you sure youâre alright?â Belle asked, a small whimper in her voice. âIâll be fine, just a little woozy,â Lane sighed, managing to steady herself before walking forward again. Belle could only nod as she continued to follow after her friend. âBe on your guard, weâre about to step over the edge of the wilds,â Thorin claimed, no longer having to whisper. âBalin. You know these paths, lead on.â The older dwarf nodded and lead the way further along the path with the others following behind him. As the two women continued to follow the others, Laneâs body slipped again, Belle releasing a loud gasp as she reached forward to catch her friend, Bofur however being faster, spun around and caught the womanâs shoulder. âEasy there Champion, donât want to have to shave the other side of yer head,â he teased, not able to hide the concerned look in his eye. âThanks Bofur, coming from you thatâs a compliment,â Lane snickered with a small sigh. The miner nodded and helped her to stand upright again before beginning to walk again, Lane and Belle right behind him. The company managed to find their way out of the rocky path with Balinâs apparent knowledge of the road and soon came upon a vast field of dry grass. They kept a steady pace, not too fast but not too slow, and for every step they took, Lane could feel Thorinâs glare boring into her from the front of the group. She wasnât necessarily slowing them down; Oin only ever being a few feet ahead of herself, Belle and Bilbo; the healer choosing to stay near the back of the group should Lane need aid. While she was indeed grateful for his thoughtfulness towards her, it also made her feel weak and in need of protection, something that took a huge blow to her pride. Sure there was the occasional misstep or flash of dizziness that raced through her head, but it wasnât anything serious; Belle hadnât told her that her wound was suddenly bleeding again so there was no need to make such a big fuss. It was when a particularly painful throb wracked not just her head, but her entire body when Lane fell to her knees with a painful yelp. âLane!!â Belle cried, dashing up to her friend. Oin was kneeling by Laneâs side in record time while Belleâs cry echoed across the open field, all of the dwarves turning to see what the fuss was about. âWhat hurts lassie,â Oin asked, gently placing his palm on her forehead. âN-no⌠Iâm fine. I just slipped is all,â Lane groaned, clenching her eyes shut in a vain attempt to will the pain in her skull away. Inwardly growling at herself, she pushed herself off of the ground and stood straight, only for the pain to hit her again like a freight train, causing her eyes to cross before falling to her knees again. âLane stop, youâll only hurt yourself!â Bilbo pleaded, his hand grasping his friendâs shoulder. âHeâs right lassie, you need to stop and rest,â Oin agreed with a nod. âWhatâs going on, we need to keep moving,â Thorinâs voice growled as he stomped over to them. âThorin-â âShe needs to rest laddie, or weâll be carrying a corpse to Erebor,â Oin scolded, looking up at their leader. âWe donât have time to rest, Durinâs day is nearly upon us!â Thorin growled. âI can carry her...â KĂli offered as he and the others walked over. âNo, if we are attacked we may need every able bodied warrior to fight, having her on your back will leave me with one less fighter,â Thorin claimed. âThorin-â Balin began, but was interrupted by the leader. âYou either stand and walk on your own two feet or we leave you here!â Thorin barked, glaring down at Lane, the woman hanging her head as she willed herself not to cry from pain. âUncle, enough!â FĂli demanded, stepping in between the two. âWeâve been walking for hours, a little rest could do all of us some good.â Thorin was about to retort when Lane stood and put a shaking hand on FĂliâs shoulder. Pushing him slightly out of the way, Lane raised her head and glared at Thorin. âI thought you were in a rush, Lord Dwarf⌠what are you doing here standing around?â she growled. Thorin simply spun around on his heels and began walking away, barking at the others to continue as well. âLane stop, you canât keep forcing yourself like this!â Belle pleaded, standing up and holding Lane still. âIâm not going to be a liability Izz!â Lane barked, turning to glare at her friend. âI am not weak! I am not frail! And I will not be subject to the scorn of someone with a jagged key and map shoved up his fucking ass, all because I was clocked on the head by an orc!!â Belle stood motionless, her eyes wide and fear filled as Lane turned away from her, taking quick but staggering steps to follow the others. âLa-â âDonât touch me!â Lane barked, harshly brushing off FĂliâs outstretched hand as she passed him. FĂli exchanged a worried look with his brother, their gazes shifting between a clearly enraged Lane and a now forlorn looking Belle as Bilbo rested a hand on her elbow. -=- After a few more hours of traveling, the company finally took a rest near a small grove of trees, almost every one of them releasing a round of groans when they were finally able to rest their weary and aching feet.Lane and Belle sat somewhat away from each other, Lane refusing to meet anyoneâs eyes as she kept her back turned to them while Belle let out a small sigh. âIs she still avoiding everyone?â Bilbo asked, walking over to the smaller woman and sitting beside her, his eyes not leaving Laneâs back. Belle nodded and pouted. âI can understand why sheâd be peeved, but that doesnât mean she should just shut us out,â she huffed. âIâd go over there and smack some sense into her but Iâm afraid sheâd smack me back, and Lane hits hardâŚâ Bilbo hummed and nodded, turning his eyes back to Laneâs form before giving a determined huff and standing. Belleâs hand shot up and grasped his wrist, causing him to stop and look down at her. âWait, are you seriously going to go and talk to her? Sheâll eat you alive; Laneâs almost as bad as Thorin!â Belle hissed, trying to keep her voice down as the sun got lower and lower in the sky. âLady Isabella, I know that you and Lane have been friends for a very long time, but I believe that there is one thing that even you donât quite understand about her,â Bilbo hummed with a small smile. Belleâs grip on his wrist slackened as Bilbo took this chance to walk over to the taller of the two, Lane having shifted so that she could lean her right shoulder against a nearby tree along with the uninjured side of her head. âLane?â Bilbo called quietly, not wanting to disturb her if she was sleeping. âWhat?â Bilbo jumped slightly at the irritated tone in her voice but didnât allow himself to turn around, instead taking a few more steps forward so that he was standing by her left shoulder and sat beside her. The hobbit leaned forward slightly to get a better look at his friendâs face and gave a small whine when he realized just how exhausted the taller woman looked. âAre you just going to stare at me?â her voice croaked, eyes not opening. âLane, you must know that after all this time weâve spent traveling together, that none of us view you as a burden nor a liability,â he began, keeping his voice level and supportive. âYou are probably the strongest and most brave-hearted woman Iâve met, and thatâs saying a lot if you recall me having Mirabella as an Aunt.â Lane couldnât help the small breath of laughter that escaped her lips, her face relaxing at the mention of the hobbit woman. Bilbo gained a smile of his own on his face and he reached out to place a comforting hand on the womanâs knee. âLane, I cannot speak for every member of this company, but I can easily name a handful that value your presence on this quest. I myself am quite happy that you as well as Lady Isabella decided to come along, and Iâm certain she feels the same.â âThatâs not a handful Bilbo,â Lane chuckled, her eyes finally opening to look at him out of the corner of her eye. âWell FĂli and KĂli both seem to have gotten attached to you as well as Oin and Bofur. Gloin Iâve noticed isnât as grumpy around you anymore and Iâve seen the friendship that is growing between yourself and Bifur as well. Dwalin also seems to enjoy your company seeing as he still calls you Champion. Basically everyone who does call you that I believe you can view as a comrade and friend in this venture,â Bilbo claimed, shifting slightly so that Lane could see past him and look at each dwarf as he mentioned them. âIâm sorry that Thorin has been so hard on you since the warg pack, but just because heâs having behavioural issues doesnât mean everyone shares his view, especially when it comes to you.â Lane lowered her eyes in shame and wrung her hands together before giving a sigh. âIâm a shitty friend⌠arenât I?â Lane sighed. âIâm sorry Bilbo.â âApology accepted, though I donât believe Iâm the one you should be apologizing to,â the hobbit hummed, nodding behind them with a knowing look. Lane sighed through her nose before nodding and moving to stand. Bilbo shot to his feet and offered the woman his hand, Lane pausing for a moment before accepting his aid. Once she was on her feet, Lane managed to walk over to where Belle sat, the smaller woman not raising her head to look up at her. âYou still suck, but Iâm willing to forgive your flaws and call a truce,â Lane hummed. Belleâs eyes widened and spun around to look up at her friend and give her a baffled look, only to catch sight of the shit eating grin stretched across the tallerâs lips. âMy flaws? Youâre no saint yourself, you know!â Belle laughed, understanding the meaning behind her friendâs words. âYouâre right, Iâm no saint; Iâm closer to being a Bishop, or a Cardinal,â Lane hummed, placing a hand on her chest while pushing her shoulders back with mock dignity. Belleâs mouth opened and closed a few times in befuddlement before she let out a round of laughter, having to cover her mouth with her hands so it wasnât too loud. âYou are beyond hopeless,â the smaller laughed, having to wipe away a few tears in her eyes. âDamn straight, makes life more fun,â Lane scoffed, finally sitting down beside her friend. âI am sorry for yelling at you though, you didnât deserve to get the brunt of it.â Belle hummed and gave her friend a smile and a pat on the knee, silently telling her that all was forgiven. Bilbo soon came over to join the women and the trio sat and talked for a little while longer until Thorin told everyone to get some rest. -=- The next day continued on in this general pattern. The company traveled almost non-stop from sunup to dusk, found a place to camp for the night before planning on repeating the process again. Lane was still miffed at Thorin, Belle sharing her friendâs feeling while Thorin never spared them a glance, his eyes always set on the Misty Mountains in the east. Bilbo had remained with the women and would help Belle to silently support Lane whenever the taller woman would trip or get a head rush and have to pause to clear her vision. The morning after Lane had apologized to Belle, she had done the same to FĂli for her harshness towards him only wanting to help. If the blond prince felt any ill will or discontent towards her for her actions, he never stated so and accepted her apology with a smile and a pat on the shoulder. âNothing to worry about, Champion,â he had said. âI understand all too well that Thorin can be a bit hard headed and overly driven.â When the sun began to set that evening, the company once again found a place to camp for the night, Lane, Belle and Bilbo taking out their bedrolls and lining them up beside each other not too far away from the dwarves. While doing so, it found the trio trading stories and experiences from their short time in Rivendell. âHe just walked in!?â Bilbo gasped, looking like he had been personally put through the ordeal. âI cannot believe KĂli would do such a thingâŚâ âI donât think dwarves know how to knock,â Lane snickered, patting her friend on the shoulder as Belle hung her head. âFĂli did the same thing to me when Gilraen took me to the baths.â âWHAT!?â the two squawked, gaping at the tallest. âAnd you didn't tell me?â Belle accused. âWhat would you have done, defended my honour? Too late, honour gone.â Lane hummed. âThough I don't think FĂli minded~â Bilbo sputtered at the implication she was making while Belle smacked her friend on the arm. âI'm joking I'm JOKING!â Lane laughed, shifting slightly so she was further from her friendâs reach. âMy LadyâŚâ The three turned to see KĂli was standing by Belleâs side with a smile stretched across his lips and bow in hand. âI'm not interrupting anything am I? There are some trees not too far off that may serve as good target practise, especially since I understand you now have a bow of your own,â the brunet prince claimed, nodding at said weapon resting not to far away with her others things. Belleâs eyes widened slightly in excitement before she remembered her friend, turning to look at Lane only for the taller to roll her eyes. âDonât worry about me, I have my secondary mother hen to cluck over me while youâre abusing the trees,â Lane chuckled, thumbing over at Bilbo as the hobbit gave her a pout. âWho are you calling a mother hen?â Bilbo huffed. âWould you rather me call you a quack?â âThat is no better!â Belle giggled and stood up after picking up her bow and quiver, allowing KĂli to lead the way over to their makeshift target range.âI know I said that itâs alright, but that doesnât mean Iâm not allowed to pout,â Lane huffed, doing just that. Bilbo chuckled and patted the woman on the back as they watched the dwarven archer help Belle with her standing and drawing postures. âYou know Bilbo, you could probably do with a few lessons on how to stab people,â Lane snickered, looking at the hobbit out of the corner of her eye. âMake use of that dagger youâve got hanging at your hip.â âBalin called it a letter opener,â Bilbo scoffed, drawing the sword and running his finger along the flat of the blade. âJust because itâs small in size doesnât make it useless.â âNo, I agree. Back home our people have a saying; Great things come in small packages,â Lane hummed, resting her jaw in her palm as she smiled at him. âIâm sure that if you keep it by you Bilbo, that itâll see its fair share of battles.â The hobbit seemed approving of her words as Lane stopped herself from grinning too much, knowing full well that this âletter openerâ would serve a greater purpose than any other sword among them at this moment in the future, both near and far.âIâm not interrupting an important pep talk am I?â Lane and Bilbo turned to see that FĂli had walked over to the two, no doubt in search of his brother. âNot at all,â Bilbo hummed, motioning for him to join them. FĂli did just that, sitting on Laneâs other side and allowing his eyes to drift over to the two archers not far away. âHas Thorin managed to glare a hole in the back of Izzâs head yet? Sheâs stealing the attention of one of his fighters,â Lane huffed, giving FĂli a sidelong glance. âNot yet; Balin and Dwalin keep trying to talk some sense into him about the treatment that heâs giving you two. He naturally wonât hear any of it right now, but I think heâs still a little jaded about the fact that weâre now on a time limit,â FĂli hummed, leaning back to rest on his hands. Lane rolled her eyes but didnât have the energy to vent, not only that but just because FĂli understood that Thorin was being a dick didnât mean he was automatically the best person to talk to about said dwarf lord.âYou know that heâll come around eventually right? Not just for you and Lady Isabella, but with you as well Bilbo,â FĂli claimed, looking around Lane to give the hobbit a slightly apologetic look. âI figured as much, from what I understand, you folk are very tight knit with your own kin and kind, I wasnât really expecting to be welcomed with open arms in the first place,â Bilbo said with a small laugh. FĂli nodded and turned his attention back to the woman beside him, catching sight of Laneâs pout causing him to chuckle. He reached over and patted her on the shoulder causing her to shift slightly to look back at him. âPatience is a virtue Champion,â he laughed. âPatience is in low supply when you have a stubborn iron rod as a troupe leader,â Lane scoffed. â...but Iâll tryâŚâ FĂliâs grin grew and he nodded, turning back to the duo by the trees as Belle fired an arrow from her bow and hit a nearby tree with a hard âthunkâ.

PLEASE DESCRIBE MY GRANPAPI ZARKON'S HOUSE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW MANY CHANDELIER'S DOES HE HAVE?? WHAT CAR DOES HE DRIVE???? DOES HE HAVE A CHOPPER? (´ŕźŕşś ÍĘ ŕźŕşś `)âĄ
FOR YOU I WILL. So previously we have The Shirogane House, so now letâs take a tour at Grandpa Zarkonâs Residence. Zarkon is the CEO of The Galra Enterprise. Rich man and all that. What exactly is his business? Hmmmm, it will all be revealed in time, but today is not that day.
Zarkonâs house is IN FRONT of Shiro and Keithâs house. But his is bigger than theirs. I mean, just look at that, THEY HAVE A FRIGGIN FISH TANK! Most likely filled with Koi fishes because only expensive fishes can swim in his most likely also expensive fish tank. Zarkon wakes up every morning drinking his morning coffee, throwing some fish food like he has nothing better to do, no papers to sign, no proposals of sending weapons to some country to approve of. No, he takes his time in the morning to appreciate the fishes because he paid for them and god dammit he will look at them.
More under the cut of course as we tour this house. Buckle up.
If thereâs one thing Zarkon is aside from being a richass old man, itâs being so damn extra. He has this weird black contraption by his entrance. What exactly is it? No one knows. Itâs just there to intimidate people. Sorry Shiro but your Eiffel Towers got nothing on this weird black metal.
His house looks like a friggin airplane going to war. You know why? Because Zarkon was part of the military back in his days. Thatâs right. He is Admiral Zarkon and this guy is still so damn attached to his past. That wide empty spot? Itâs where he lets his grandkids Haggar and Sendak ride their bikes. Hunk, Lance and Pidge also joins them whenever they want because two kids in that huge space is just too much.
Ah, look at those fancy lights. Looks creepy because that was probably how itâs supposed to be. This is where people gather when they do barbecues. The usual spot for The Shiroganes when they visit to eat grilled food.Â
Like the Shiroganes, they have a fireplace outside too. But theirs is fancier and bigger because OBVIOUSLY. Haggar likes playing pretend here like sheâs some witch brewing and muttering who knows what. Zarkon just looks at her and thinks âWhat a weird child. But I encourage creativity.â
The pool. Because they just need more grass.
The view from the second floor. Ah, so nice. It makes Sendak feel so tall every time he stands here but Grandpa Zarkon is always so worried like DONT GO NEAR THE EDGE, CHILD! YOU MIGHT FALL INTO THE POOL! Sendak canât swim, but heâs learning. haggar on the other hand, feels like she could compete in the Olympics but we all know thatâs not true. Having dreams can be nice. lmao
Outside living room of some sort. Because who knows who wants to have a smoke? You cannot smoke inside because the kids are not allowed to become secondhand chain smokers.Â
First floor living room inside. The house was too dark, Zarkon thought it would be nice to add some colour for contrast. The kids suggested orange and Zarkon was pleased. He likes orange. It goes well with Purple. He loves purple.
Another angle and thereâs those weird metal contraption again. Zarkonâs quite fond of them.Â
The dining area where the family usually eats. Zarkon wants to make his grandkids feel like normal once in a while. That means normal table. But I believe itâs because he spent too much making his house look like a war machine he didnt have time to find fancy tables. MAYBE. WHO KNOWS. Maybe he isnât lying after all.Â
The kitchen and the breakfast table. Usually this is Varkonâs area, being the butler and all. Zarkon only uses the kitchen when he bakes purple pies, which is his specialty that he loves sharing with The Shiroganes.Â
The formal dining room. Yes. Itâs separate. The place where the Shiroganes eat when theyâre doing formal dinners of course with the Galras. Also yes, there are more tables because heâs Zarkon for godâs sake. He dines with a lot of rich people so he canât just have one table.Â
What are we looking at? The bathroom. Thatâs right. Donât let the sofa fool you. itâs just there when people are waiting for their turn. Unbelievable. Even has a vase and some drinks by the side table in case, you know, you might be thirsty before you go to pee. The towels are a dead giveaway here. The black thing there is apparently the tub. IDK ANYMORE. This family is crazy.
The stairs. UGH. Just. Let me run my hands through those railings. Letâs proceed to the second floor.
Sendakâs room. he has his own walk-in closet I AM CRYING. WHY. Iâm thinking maybe I should let Zarkon adopt me instead.Â
Haggarâs room. Nothing much there really. But she has her own walk-in closet too. Which is this
These kids and their walk-in closets. What do they even put there? They canât have that much clothes, can they?Â
The kids have bathroom each. They are identical. Because for some reason, it would make sense for them to have one each. They already have their own walk-in closets? So why not a bathroom too?
Guest room#1.Â
Guest room #2.
Zarkonâs master bedroom because it would only make sense to have a chandelier in his room. Sometimes the grandkiddos join him and heâs fine with it as long as they donât move too much when sleeping.Â
They move too much when sleeping.
His master bedroom bathroom OTL Why are there seats? because heâs gotta sit somewhere while his water run hot of course. Heâs getting old, so heâs gotta rest as much as he can.
His walk-in closet is⌠big. It just⌠extends and extends. Where does it end? No one knows. Because Grandpa Zarkon is the type to wear suits⌠everyday. Why? Because he can.
The terrace by Zarkonâs room. Sometimes at the end of the day, the old manâs just gotta chill while drinking a glass of wine.
The garage. He has heaps of cars.
Does he drive them? Sometimes. But heâs got a driver for that. pffft.  But whatâs the most amusing is, on top of that is a helipad. Because grandpa canât be bothered with traffic!
Orange. Because the kids love orange as much as purple. I hate this house. I hate it. I hate that I actually want it lmao\
Iâm sorry Shiro and Keith but you cannot compete with Zarkon on this one.
