you know which people piss me off more than spy->missy truthers??? timeless child deniers. Let me elaborate. People who think the timeless child was something made up by the master to meddle with the doctor. How can anyone possibly think that ????? the master is clearly the most affected one of the two, even if he shouldn't be. He's literally devastated and his whole life crumbled down leading him to a whole ass identity crisis??? How can you ignore the fact that the timeless child caused his mental decline (I'm not saying he was sane before but still). Also if he could alterate the memories in the matrix (which, I'm pretty sure there's ways to do this, but I'm not sure you could make up whole new imaginary memories), why should he show the doctor confused and disguised ones instead of making up clear memories about the timeless child to convince her more?????? girl I know you don't like the plotline and it's completely fine everyone likes and dislikes whatever they want but making a theory that can't even stand on one foot is another thing completely

In that vein (hah), I just have to take a moment to gush about the costuming in The Lost Boys because. Have you seen the costuming in The Lost Boys. Like each costume standing on its own without anyone in it still gives you a sense of a whole character, which is important because some of these characters don't get, uh, lines. We have to be able to distinguish them immediately by visuals, and the thing is, we can, because they're not just dressed to look attractive, they're dressed with the purpose of establishing character.

Like, consider Michael. They kept it very simple for him, on purpose, he's a regular everyman kind of guy thrown into a Situation. But also, he's trying too hard. The white t-shirt, jeans, and leather jacket call back to James Dean, Rebel Without A Cause, but the leather jacket's brand new without a scuff or a crack, not broken in, and it sits uncomfortably on his shoulders. The earring doesn't suit him - it belongs to somebody else, a funhouse mirror version of himself that he's tempted by, but also it literally belongs to somebody else. Who gave him that earring? Star's implied to have done the piercing, for him, which also tracks - the earring's a little piece of someone else, someone darker and wilder, that's been dug right down into his flesh by his association with Star. It's tasted his blood.

It's also a little piece of the boys' uniting aesthetic bleeding over onto him. There's a magpie sensibility to all of them, but then each of them are visually distinct as themselves within it.

Star's clothes have 80s cuts but form a 60s hippie silhouette, solidified in time. She's the most colourful of them all, her white tops signifying a flash of innocence, but at the same time as she climbs on David's bike, she pulls on a big black jacket that almost envelops her, a little piece of his shadow falling over her and devouring her light. Again, it doesn't quite fit her, like she's playing dressup as a darker, wilder self just like Michael is.

And speaking of David. That boy is chin to toe wrapped up in black. The coat references batwings, which is a great detail. And those gloves! He doesn't touch Star; he doesn't touch Michael; he doesn't touch the world, except through a layer of darkness. It's real Old West, white-hat-black-hat level symbolism. Except.

The real villain of the piece isn't the dangerous, sharp-edged boy in black - although of course you need to look out for him, they don't call him 'dangerous' for no reason. The real villain of the piece is the most perfectly conventional, middle-class, unassuming, don't-look-twice take-him-home-to-mother normal guy imaginable. Grey and beige. Business casual.

It's the perfect camouflage for a predator.

(And then also like. I can't wax as poetic about it right now because my brain cells are otherwise occupied. But please consider how much character is there in, like, the Frogs' army-surplus duds and Sam's terrible, incredible shirts.)

slowly getting back into “danganronpa” again, omg. i remember it used to be one of the most popular yet notorious fandoms on tumblr back in 2012-2013.

basically if you never played/watched the anime adaptions it’s about a bunch of high school students who have unique talents that are suddenly locked in a school by an evil robot bear, and the only way to get out is to get away with murder (literally) by killing another classmate and have nobody suspect you. like does that not sound CUNTY or whaaat? 😭

anyway it has some of the best plot twists and well thought out characters and i fucking loved nearly all of the characters, the only problem really was avoiding spoilers about this game/anime on tumblr and i remember people being really polite/considerate about it back then LOL as if every nerd on this website didn’t know what happened in the plot (and the twists).

but yeah this game is genuinely amazing and it aged very well imo. it was originally just a video game released in the year 2010 but there’s a bunch of anime adaptions and other spin off games now, like it’s genuinely one of the best pieces of fictional media i’ve ever consumed and the hype is definitely deserved.

Idk how I feel about the master being the child on the cliff but I do like the child being a representation of the master. I thought about it when I saw it and I immediately thought it was on purpose, in that case, it makes sense to confirm it. However idk about him being literally the master. Would that imply they were both the timeless child? I never asked myself how I would feel about that. I don't think I have an opinion (weirdly enough) cause on one side...yes, let them be intertwined forever. Let them be tied together since they were little. Let them be the same. On the other hand though I kinda like the idea of the master having to deal with the fact that he is NOT like the doctor and he will never be. The idea that the doctor is much more important not for their actions or for whatever they do, but biologically and historically is so compelling for some reason cause I like to see the master put in situations and crashing out. Making him the timeless child as well would feel really artificial (idk how else to explain it I'm sorry) unless developed in a very very good plotline, that I of course can't think about and don't even know if it's possible. So yeah, my thoughts on it

I'm working on a kidlaw thing now where Kidd's the owner of a fashion conglomerate called Victoria Punk. They met in the flagship store and they flirt, yadda yadda whatever—that's not important. What is though, is how I immediately thought of how the Ace and Sabo would get involved in the (luxury) fashion industry since they're my favs alongside Kidd. Here's my takes lmao

Ace would own a shoe store. He sells a pretty small but reliable and beautiful collection of leather shoes and boots. As an athlete and hitchhiker, he understands the need for footwear that's durable, comfortable and fashionable. Since his target demographic are fellow hitchhikers who do insane shit outdoors, his shoes are good quality. They will live through avalanches, snowstorms, cyclones, rocky mountains, swamps—whatever—and the most you'd need to do is replace the laces. Aesthetically-speaking, they're plain, but if you're into the look of sturdy leather that smells wonderful (like me), his stuff is perfect for you.

I say this because I'm currently imagining Ace helping Law try the shoes on like he would delicately slip them on Law's feet like a princess and tie his laces for him. He would look up at Law and smile when he sees that Law feels very comfortable in these shoes.

Gah! The intimacy!

For funsies, he makes Law try on those high, knee-length boots and gets very turned on because Law has legs for days. It's like a kink of his now and he gets esp turned on seeing that.

For Sabo, I can't decide between a watch shop or a (pawn) jewellery store. Either way, I want him to be very involved with people, as in he would sit there and admire little intricate things with his clients. He loves listening to what customers like and helping them find what they're looking for. Rather than for practical purposes like Ace, Sabo's more interested in sentimental values. He's not interested in just a pretty watch or a pretty ring— he wants to help clients find the perfect watch for their children to pass down to their grandchildren; he wants to help clients find the perfect engagement ring for their loved ones. He's into the storytelling aspect of luxury marketing.

If we're talking Sabolaw, then maybe Law walks into Sabo's little run down store one day and asks if Sabo could help fix an heirloom from Corazon. Sabo agrees for a small fee and from there they talk about the thing itself, and then onto what Sabo does, and then what Law does. Amongst this heart to heart, they look at each other and go. oh.
