okay, I agree, he’s not the best,

but can you PLEASE not like, attack ppl who do like his character???

can you not get mad at ppl for saying that they love Nico because he is their comfort character and was one of the only queer characters they personally got as a kid???

yes, there are other queer characters, Nico was not the first, but he was the first for a lot of queer kids

you can make many criticisms of Rick Riordan, for instance, he put minimal effort into researching writing his non-white characters and that is something worth criticism

and I can agree that he didn’t write Nico very well

Nico being gay does seem to be an after thought that he wanted to throw in for an extra little bit

a little bit which was described as (something along the lines of) “Nico being gay isn’t the worst thing, there are plenty of Greek gods that have done worse than being gay”

which is admittedly, not great (it’s really bad)

but that doesn’t mean you fucking call ppl who like Nico di Angelo idiots and that he’s a shitty character

now, I also dont agree with ppl who think Rick can do no wrong, because he can do wrong, and has done wrong

but can we at least be sympathetic to the queer ppl who love Nico di Angelo because he was one of the only characters they could relate to in a genre they enjoy

can we not attack queer ppl for liking queer characters???

also I bet that most of those ppl don’t stick to the book when it come to characterization

I bet they have many a head cannon that makes the character of Nico better than he actually is
