ok so basically the essay here’s saying that Balzac, Barbey d’Aurevilly and others, had the idea that journalism was a kind of disease for writers, a physically and intellectually taxing work (and also in most cases corrupt, bc journalists were rigged to defend the ideas of those financing them, balzac argues) that took away time and energy from fiction writing. What i find fun is that the essay argues this idea was inspired by Janin’s career. his journalistic writing was low quality and it was so draining and time consuming, he had to -or chose to, idk- give up fiction for it) so his life was apparently seen as a morality tale warning young aspiring writers about this once promising fiction writer (his l’âne mort is apparently good?) who left what was seen as the arduous success of the artist for the easy cash and power of the journalist. Also, this is how Barbey defines the profession: “an ogre who loves literary fresh meat and gobbles down writers of young age.” (So when Balzac warns Gautier about journalism he probably has Janin in mind, without considering the many people who could navigate both careers successfully and without selling out, among them balzac himself)(but as we know, Gautier’s portrays balzac as a contradictory man, advising against sex and then asking help sound proofing the sex dungeon, warning against journalism while dabbling in it himself-and with gautier himself by his side later on)
As a bonus the article cites some people roasting Janin’s praxis as a critic: (warning: i am translating from a translation, i did not look the original sources up)
from Le Chiarivari: “sterility in a luxurious package, incoherent and soft doctrines. Capricious phraseology. […] that is to say, Jules Janin in a nutshell, with all the virtues of his vices and all the vices of his virtues.”
Another definition from L’impartial:
“His depthless criticism, full of inspiration and originality, his style, that captivates the reader who prefers malice to reason; less busy with judging than with shining. He knows no literary works, he analyzes them wrongly.”
As for sainte-beuve, there isn’t much more sadly!! he felt he had to get back at balzac for that one bad review (what little is quoted in the essay has balzac accusing sainte-beuve of being an extremely boring writer, and really bad at french grammar -something hugo would accuse balzac of, after B’s death). but he brought Stendhal who had not wronged him in the least to the proceedings :p the essay mentions that balzac and sainte-beuve’s relationship was pretty bad, doesn’t specify why, but cites a whole book about their rivalry.
Balzac: writes a very enthusiastic, positive and insightful review of La charteuse de Parme, using his fame to bring attention to a less known colleague he thought of as one of the brightest of their times.
Sainte-Beuve: i’m gonna insinuate Stendhal was both extremely mortified and embarrassed by the excessive praise, and also bribing balzac to flatter him that profusely
#since sainte-beuve and janin are usually considered the most powerful and influential critics of their days i am dying to find a source#that dissects how they felt about each other#i was reading balzac’s monographie de la presse which is what made janin turn against him#and the groundwork for balzac’s epic of the corrupting power of journalism (tm) lost illusions#and i stopped for now but there balzac#classes journalists into different “species’#so there might be more info in there#hope this is readable lol

I feel like I haven't written enough on The Misfits, so hopefully these incorrect quotes give you guys a better understanding of their personalities/relationships with the Warner siblings. Let me know if you guys want more incorrect quotes and as always, the ask box is open if you wanna know more about The Misfits!
Yakko: You guys, we have to go to Buster Bunny's Toontown party extravaganza.
Wakko: Scratchy won’t let us go.
Scott: Yeah, no offense Dot, but your p-psychiatrist is horrible.
Dot: How could I be offended by that?
Laffy: Can we just try to figure something out?
Taffy: What if Scratchy had a li’l… accident?
Yakko: What?
Taffy, smirking: Cousin Libby???
Laffy: We’re not gonna pay my Cousin Libby to hurt Dr. Scratchansniff!
Taffy: Well, we know she’s not gonna do it for free!
-
Yakko: Man, I hate Solitaire!
Laffy: Well, what do you expect from a card came invented for the lonely???
Yakko: JOY!?!?!?
-
Nora Rita Norita, after catching the Warners & Misfits: I might even call the police.
Taffy: Or, you could let us run away while you angrily shake your fist in the air & scream “YOU ROTTEN KIDS!”
-
Dot & Scott: [aggressively fighting each other]
Dr. Scratchansniff: Zis izn’t vhat I meant by “Express Your Feelings”!

[Cousin Libby sulks into the Water Tower]
Laffy: Where have you been all day?
Cousin Libby: Mexico.
Laffy: I thought you were just going surfing on Venice Beach.

-
[Laffy being a simp for Yakko]
Yakko: Please, for me?
Laffy: Don’t do that.
Yakko: What?
Laffy: You think whenever you say, “Please, for me?” That I’ll just do anything you want. Well, not this time.
Yakko: Please, for me?
Laffy: … Okay.
-
[Taffy mooching off of her friends/crush]
Taffy: Hey.
Wakko: Hi.
Wakko:
Wakko: What're you doing here?
Taffy: I was in the neighborhood, wanted food, didn’t want to pay for it, here I am.
Wakko: The door to the Water Tower was locked.
Taffy: Yeah, you’re gonna need a new lock.
-
[Scott & Dot's frenemy relationship in a nutshell]
Scott: That is so cool!
Dot: You know what else is cool?
Scott: What?
Dot: Not you.
Scott, to the others: See? I told you guys. Anytime a chance comes along for Dot to insult me, she just has to jump on it.
-
Cousin Libby, to Laffy: There is a living, breathing boy out there who wants to go out with you. This may never happen again! … Unless Yakko changes his mind.
Yakko: Yeah, Laffy & I are just buds.
Cousin Libby: I totally understand.
Yakko: Thank you!
Cousin Libby: WHY WON’T YOU LOVE MY BABY COUSIN?!?!
Laffy, embarrassed AF: LIBBY!

Scott: Okay, that was too much fun.
Taffy: I know. I would go ice skating every night.
Laffy: Except now we can’t because we’ve been banned from the ice rink.
Taffy: Not my fault, that big dude kept bumping into me.
Laffy: So you had to jack-slap him in front of his kids?
Taffy & Scott: [look at each other and start laughing]

Ya know what? Fuck it, I'mma make "Neighbor" versions of Paul and Patryck, to go alongside my Todd It only makes sense :P plus I saw someone else do it (@/spaceistheplaceart ) and it made ME want to do it cause I really liked the idea, so the person I mentioned made the og Idea for Pat and Pau neighbors, I'm just being inspired by it, to give them credit for that,
also I put airquotes around "Neighbors" because they're not a part of the main neighbor group unlike Todd but I WILL set 'em up as Pau and Pat's neighbors and have them visit the main neighbors at times
Anyways on with the idea,
So my neighbor Paul and Patryck would be named Prince and Peyton (@/salt-apple came up with the name for the Patryck neighbor on Discord while I made the Paul one so thank you for the Pat neighbor name Salt) and they originate from Australia/are Aussie's like my Todd, but they are snuck up snot-nosed JERKS
You see, Prince and Peyton are these snotty rich kids that used to be Todd's friends in kindergarten, they loved learning about royalty as very little kids and where born and raised as spoiled as fuck rich kids, they went to a normal kindergarten though, just because they're parents thought they would like interacting with other kids, no they're NOT related, they just so happened to live very similarly, anyways they met each other and became "Super besties forevsies" and then later, met Todd, Prince and Peyton got along with Todd but they did not like him TOO much because A: Average kid, not rich but he was not fuggin POOR- and B: He was basically the male "Dora the Explorer" of kindergarten, but Prince and Peyton thought this was "just a phase commoners go through" and became his friends out of pity cause he was a scrawny tiny kid (Little did they know he'd become this huge massive buff as hell 6'5 dude that explores jungles and such daily in his 20s-30s lmfao) but eventually they became Todds personal bullies instead, so Todd ended up hating their guts until Prince and Peyton left for private school for the rest of their school years because normal school was, and I quote "Too full of DiRtY commoners"
Years later Todd had a friend, which was his penpal Jon, and still lived in Australia, while Prince and Peyton moved to London, as housemates as Paul and Patryck's neighbors, this was around the time Pau and Pat just came close enough after meeting in highschool (hc) to become housemates, Prin and Pey actually bought an entire property space and built a huge ass mansion on it, cause REALLY REALLY REEEEALLLLY rich motherfuckers,
Prin and Pey lived next to Pau and Pat for a long time, they've been there about 2-3 years when Todd finally moved from Australia to London to become Jon, Eduardo and Mark's housemate
Also Prin and Pey have lived there for so long they ended up dropping the Aussie accents and started speaking with full ass British accents so whenever Todd sees them he jokes going "AAH! THEY'VE TURNED BRITISH!" in the heaviest Aussie accent he can do just to get on their nerves
Prin and Pey are Ace and Aro, but not the other, Prin being Aro and Pey being Ace, which means Prince wants sex but not a romantic relationship while Payton wants a romantic relationship but nothing to do with sex
As for their relationships,
You can already tell their relationship with each other is "Besties Forevsies" and their relationship with Todd is hate-hate
As for their relationship with Paul and Patryck
Prince does not HATE his non-neighbor counterpart Paul but he does not like him ether he sees him as "A rugged war and flea written commoner" but "Tolerable I guess"
As for Peyton and Patryck's relationship this is it in a nutshell:
Peyton: HOE- *flips him off*
Patryck, who's got a massive ass: Well at least I'M thicc and have a bakery unlike YOU FLAT-ASS RICH BOY
Peyton, who has literally NO ass:
Peyton: *Insert that meme of the guy crying in the mirror after the dude making a fursona says "YOU'RE cringe"*
Anyways, as for their personalities:
Since (In my interpretation!) Paul is a tough as fuck dude who is also really soft on the inside and is loyal while also being is a little shit, Prince is a play by the rules man who is a huge perfectionist, he also thinks there is no such thing as a "cloudburg" Prince also hates getting his hands dirty and is overall a rotten dude-
And since (Again in MY interpretation!) Patryck is a slut- *gets shot* Is a whore- *gets shot* IS A HOE PRETTY MUCH- Who is a tough ass sassy ass bitch who is pretty loyal to who he trusts and likes, anyone else he's gonna manipulate you like the snake he is- And is not at all afraid to get his hands dirty by fighting, he actually enjoys the adrenaline from it, not nearly as much as Pau though, and is a mutant snake man, he also likes chaos as much as Paul, Peyton is a "gentleman" he acts like one and is more "civilized" Peyton would never manipulate and he hates fighting but he WILL emotionally kick your ass, Peyton also really hates dirt and germs and one the inside is just as much of a snot-nose rotten jerk as Prince and Pey is a bat mutant man just because I said so, and snakes eat bats sometimes :] Also Pey believes in Cloudburgs unlike Pat, right up there with Paul lmao
As for designs I don't know yet but I DO know they're both gonna be fuckin TWIGS because my Pau is chubby while my Pat is buff and Pey has NO ass and Prin has NO eyebrows, he's an eyebrow-less mofo lol (@/noodle-eggs suggested/said that Prince should have no eyebrows on Discord and I liked it so I used it so they came up with that idea)

I just read your Arkham City post. You have interesting thoughts on that game! How do you feel about the boss battles of Arkham overall?
Y'know something, Anon? I was actually eager to do one of those tier list dealios, and you just inspired me to whip one up. Soooo here ya go!
You can see more of a proper rundown below:
In a nutshell, I think City and Origins had, bar none, the best boss fights in the entire series. They're all mostly imaginative, have a wide variety of attack patterns and utilize different strategies for defeating them. Best yet, unlike Asylum, you aren't just fighting the same one monster that resembles Batman villains as much as tanks resembled bosses people wanted in a Batman game. Origins gets extra marks over City because it manages to create proper mano-y-mano showdowns in a way people said was impossible, thanks to the brawler mechanics. Deathstroke and the first showdown with Bane are easily the most badass one-v-one showdowns, while Mr. Freeze is one of the absolute best stealth action bosses in the entire genre.
The rest in Asylum and Knight can be summed up as either unremarkable at best, or dreadfully disappointing or lazy at worst.
For example, I know a LOT of folks loooooved Croc-o's "boss fight" in Arkham Asylum. Problem is, that entire sequence doesn't feel like the boss fight. It feels like the first phase of a larger fight that never happens. Which applies to most of the bosses outside of City and Origins.
And what's sad is, looking back, I'd take even THAT crap over literal one button takedowns for half the quote unquote bosses of Knight.
I have theories for why Knight's bosses were complete garbage compared to City and Origins, namely the age old dilemma of "oh shit, we are WAY behind schedule and implementing this fucking Batmobile ate up so much of our dev time that we went overboard with that we don't have time to give this game any actual bosses. Because Rocksteady knew what they were doing with City. It's not like they just suddenly forgot how to do bosses. After all, we've heard so many stories of this crap happening when games are in development hell.
It's the same reason Electrocutioner was a joke one hit takedown despite being billed as one of the eight main bosses of the game. When the money and dev time ain't there? You gotta cut corners where you can. Hell, Arkham Origins Mobile gave him an actual boss fight which would've been great in the console game. Origins, to me, deserved the full Arkham treatment instead of being the "Portable Ops" of the Arkham series (a spinoff designed just to give players something to chew on before the main event). And like MPO, a big part of why the game was so much copy & paste is because it didn't have an ounce of Rocksteady's budget.
Same with Deadshot, who was just an alteration of Two Face / Harley's predator fight. But the reason I rank Deadshot as great is because his fight is infinitely harder than theirs, and his ricochet attack is a lot trickier to evade, so you actually feel like you have to use stealth to avoid his line of sight. And when it's just you and him, you CAN take him head on, rolling around to avoid his shots, which can feel gratifying and action packed. :P
So yeah! I adored Arkham City's four main bosses, enjoyed its lesser bosses, absolutely loved most of Origins' main bosses, really liked some of its side bosses and at least had fun with its lesser bosses...aaaand minus Poison Ivy and Scarecrow, kind of hated everything Asylum and Knight tried and failed to do with its bosses. (I don't HATE Croc's fight in Asylum or Knight, but the former just doesn't feel like a full boss fight, and Knight doesn't even let you ACTUALLY fight Croc so much as you do jump around him, punching his goons so you can do QTE's to do damage on Croc instead of doing the damage yourself.)
Yeah, I'm a gaming nerd, folks. These are facts. XD
#non kink#batman#arkham series#arkham asylum#arkham city#arkham origins#arkham knight#boss fights#tier list#oh yeah blackgate exists#that game was...interesting#it had a bunch of unique bosses#and there were some pretty good ideas there#but half of them just feel like predetermined puzzles instead of actual boss fights#the other half are just way too basic to be fun#it's the one and only game that gives joker an actual boss fight#i actually liked that one#and kinda wish the deadshot fight was the first phase of his fight in origins#but neither one was in the tier option#also penguin's was alright#it's an actual fight instead of a takedown#seriously there was soooo much you could've done with these villains#god i hope gotham knights doesn't suck#and has tons of boss fights#don't be marvel's avengers dc edition#that game fucking suuuuuucked#hey you know what i like fighting in avengers games?#a ton of generic robots and scientists piloting generic vehicles#who wants to fight actual comic book villains in a comic book game?#neeeeerds that's who!

So could you please explain Sessrin to me? I'm not in the fandom nor have I watched the show but from what little I've been told the antis (as usual) have completely mischaracterized the whole thing.
P. S. Can we please ban grooming from the fandom lexicon? It lacks semantic meaning other than age gap bad.
Well, it’s been a while since I last saw/read Inuyasha, and I’m super-behind on Yashahime, but I do love SessRin and am pretty bummed about the amount of hate this ship has been getting lately, so I’m going to do my best to share why I love these two so much.
First off, anyone who uses the word ‘grooming’ either doesn’t know what that word means, or was not seeing the same story I was. The definition of grooming is “befriending and establishing an emotional connection with a child, and sometimes the family, to lower the child's inhibitions with the objective of sexual abuse.” This never happened. Sesshomaru did not look at this traumatiized child and go “hmm, how I can I best get her to trust me so that I can convince her to sleep with me” or whatever-- in fact, a large part of their dynamic is Rin choosing, over and over, to stand by him even as he is actively trying to push her away. (And considering that I suspect many of these antis are also Sesshomaru fans, the fact that they’re so quick to launch such a serious and out-of-character accusation at him is rather strange.)
Here’s their story in a nutshell (and, again, I may be slightly misremembering details, it’s been a while): Rin, whose entire family was slaughtered by human bandits, comes across Sesshomaru in the woods and is initially terrified because, you know, demon. However, despite her fear, she realizes that he’s been injured and incapacitated, and does her best to try and help him (cleaning his wounds, getting him food and water, etc). Sesshomaru, who, up until this point, has been a fairly typical demonic antagonist with your standard mindset of, “humans are stupid, selfish, and weak,” is understandably bewildered by this, and tries to scare her off. It doesn’t really work. This goes on for some time. (Several days? Weeks? IDEK.) One day, after Rin returns to her village, a tribe of demons arrives and kills everyone. Rin tries to run back to the woods and escape, but the demons eventually catch and kill her. Sesshomaru finds her body, and, for some reason even he doesn’t understand, decides to use his magic sword that brings people back from the dead (yes he has one of those) to revive her. (This is significant because up until this point he has never even used the sword, as he hated the fact that he’d gotten the stupid healing sword while his little brother got the cool, killing sword.) And Rin, who has no one left and no home to go back to, decides to travel with him. (One of the interesting things here is that, despite the fact that she was killed by demons, Rin is actually more afraid of humans, because they’re the ones who murdered her family.)
Their relationship throughout the course of the story is fascinating. At first glance, it might seem like Sesshomaru is always the one saving her, but she saves him too. Rin forced him to acknowledge that the world wasn’t black-and-white, that humans were complex, that just because he didn’t like someone or something didn’t mean it didn’t have a right to exist. Sesshomaru’s arc is subtle, but by the end of the story, he’s fighting side by side with the heroes-- something that would never have happened if he hadn’t met Rin.
Now, the thing here is that, for most of the story Rin is eight years old. Their relationship is never, ever shown as sexual, but there’s clearly love there, and the implication the story ends with is that they will likely get together once Rin is older. I’ve heard antis say that they read the relationship as being more along the lines of “Sesshomaru ‘adopts’ Rin,” which explains a lot. However, I personally never saw it that way. They were partners-- just because Rin didn’t take out a sword and fight off anyone who tried to hurt Sesshomaru doesn’t mean she she was primarily on the receiving end of the relationship. (In a story about battling evil, where nearly all of the characters are these awesome fighters, it’s pretty cool to see a character who is not a warrior, who just gives and loves and trusts and cares, and is never treated as lesser by either the characters or the narrative because of this. I really love Rin.) I think it’s a cultural thing-- people are used to the narrative of ‘coldhearted bachelor meets and adopts lovable scamp who reminds him how to love again’ and are primed to see it even in a story from an entirely different culture set five hundred years in the past.
(Part of it is also about shipping wars-- many of the antis ship Sesshomaru with other characters, particularly Kagura, and would rather make the argument about morality versus just saying that they would prefer something a little different.)
Here’s where I admit it gets a little bit sticky: How much of this is Rin just imprinting on Sesshomaru and using him as an excuse to avoid her trauma surrounding other humans? And the narrative did a great job of resolving this dilemma. Near the end of the story, Rin leaves Sesshomaru. She goes to live among humans, to learn how to be human again, so that once she’s an adult, she has the agency to make an informed decision about what she really wants.
There happens to be an audio-drama CD that was released in Japan sometime after the show ended, which is set just after the original story ends (when Rin is eleven). In it, Sesshomaru says something to Rin which is referred to by one of the other characters as a ‘proposal.’ Now, I don’t follow anti discourse, so I’m not sure if they know about it, but I can imagine they’d have a field day with that one. “Omigoodness, he proposed to an eleven year old, that’s so creepy.” However, there’s some context involved. The word ‘proposal’ is used by one of the other characters-- who happens to have time-travelled from five hundred years later (that is, the present day). The whole plot of the CD starts when she complains to her husband/lover/whatever-their-relationship-status-is-supposed-to-be that he never actually proposed to her, and since he doesn’t know what a proposal is (because, again, culture gap), he thinks it’s some sort of monster she wants him to go fight for her before they can actually be married, and hilaraity ensues. She calls Sesshomaru’s words to Rin a proposal as in “see, that’s what a proposal is supposed to look like.” It has very little to do with SessRin in and of themselves.
For reference, here’s what Sesshomaru actually said in this so-called ‘proposal’ (thanks to @inu-drama for the translation):
“Rin, have you grown accustomed to life in the village? No one is bullying you or anything? Did you make a kimono out of the cloth I gave you the other day? When you are troubled, or anxious, or sad, or any other time, feel free to call on me. I will come to you immediately. Even if we are far apart, if you call my name I will absolutely come flying to you. If you cannot speak, you can whistle. Whistle through your fingers, if you like. Distance is no object. Our hearts are tied together. With the power of trust, there is nothing to fear. Simply having that feeling should be enough to fill your heart. That is why it is fine for things to remain as they are for now. We have plenty of time. You can examine your heart at your own pace. Until then, take care of yourself.”
(Is there something inherently creepy or predatory about that?)
To me, SessRin is about love, in its purest form. It’s about believing in someone when the rest of the world is against them. It’s about choosing the person who chooses you. It’s about learning and growing and changing together.
What’s that quote-- I think it was from Dawson’s Creek or something? “What's a soulmate?” “It's uh... Well, it's like a best friend but more. It's the one person in the world that knows you better than anyone else. It's someone who makes you a better person. Actually, they don't make you a better person, you do that yourself - because they inspire you. A soulmate is someone who you carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you and accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did, or when no one else would. And no matter what happens, you will always love them. Nothing can ever change that.” Yeah, that one. That’s what SessRin is about.

The trouble is that this nutshell account doesn't square with our picture of the thing[. ...] When people talk about Stonewall, they speak of drag queens "leading the charge" — conjuring a bizarre variation on the image of Liberty Leading the People. Trash cans were set afire, apparently, and there was some localized window-smashing. (Vito Russo told me he remembers seeing a couple of people breaking the glass of a little toy store next to the bar.) In a hilariously overstated account that appears in a recent issue of Workers' World, the Stonewall Rebellion is portrayed as an organized "pitched battle" in which hundreds of lesbians and gay men rampage through the streets of the Village, gleefully tossing Molotov cocktails at the forces of oppression. And even in Doric Wilson's much more sober and highly ironic — though no less mythologizing — Street Theater, the "revolting fags" (and dykes, and fellow travelers) who coalesce during the play's final moments arrange themselves into a grouping meant, I guess, to evoke the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima and like images of valorous triumph. The difficulty is that the facts — "stupid things," as Ronald Reagan reminded us in a speech last year — concerning what happened that night display a definite absence of sandbags, semi-automatic weapons, and all such paraphernalia. The facts even show a distressing want of self-consciously political motivation on the part of the rioters. Craig Robwell, proprietor of the even-then-in-operation Oscar Wilde Bookshop, was quoted in 1971 as saying that, when he happened onto the scene of the already-in-progress disturbance that night, he joined the crowd and began chanting "Gay Power," but that very few of those surrounding him bothered to join in.
Anger there certainly was, and a good measure of plain old fed-upness. That summer, young as it was, had already been marked by a wave of police harassment of bars that, as the Times would have put it back then, "allegedly catered to a homosexual clientele." And reports have it that one evening several weeks before the Stonewall a dozen or more paddy wagons pulled up to the cruising grounds near the docks on West Street and carted people off wholesale. Nor did the harassment end with Stonewall: a few weeks later, an after-hours club called the Snake Pit, on Tenth, was subjected to a vicious raid (one of those arrested that night died in police custody). I've been thinking, lately, how fortuitous it is that the riot we honor occurred in front of a place as felicitously named as the Stonewall. Consider how much more difficult it would be to persuade the city fathers (or ourselves, for that matter) to commemorate an event taking its name from an establishment called the Snake Pit, or the Tele-Star, or, God forbid, the Sewer — which were the other bars raided that summer.
But, come to think of it, it's somewhat peculiar that we celebrate — that is, beatify as a symbol of freedom — the Stonewall Inn. Freedom — despite the not unimportant fact that the Stonewall was one of the few places where transvestites were tolerated by the management — had precious little to do with the Stonewall's modus operandi, given that it was in all probability mob-operated (as were most illegal establishments of the time) and that the building's fabric was so far below code that entering the joint was only infinitesimally safer than descending into a West Virginia coal mine. In fact, some of the outcry raised during the week following the riot was directed against the Stonewall itself. An interesting leaflet issued by an organization called the Homophile Youth Movement decried the "hell-hole atmosphere of places typified by the Stonewall."

This is just for me. I have to put it somewhere and, unfortunately, this is where it landed.
This week has been hell. Mom is basically gone, mentally, that is. Mornings used to be pretty good; evenings utter torment (when the sun goes down, the claws come out. Sundowners is no joke, folks. It's real and sleeping in my study) a few days ago (I can't even tell you what day at this point, I'm too sleep deprived to remember) she walked her happy ass out of her room without so much as a by your leave. Never said my name once. Mr Lil and I were still drinking coffee in the dining room, shooting the morning shit when, like a baby chick, she pushed open the pocket doors and stumbled out, completely convinced that it was the thing to do-that she HADN'T been in a wheelchair for the last 7 years. Fucking Miracle or have I been a fool to wheel her about like some grumpy (and way too old) candy striper all this time?
The next morning (omg! I'm just realizing that the "next morning" was yesterday...feels like 65 years or so), I'm on the pooper so Mr Lil goes to her room when she calls. He comes to the bathroom (yes, the magic is indeed gone but that might have happened when he had to wipe my arse after the birth of our first child) and says, "mom says I can't get her out of bed". Hmm...what fresh hell is this, I wonder. I go in there to find her *naked*, her diaper off, she, her bedding and bed soaked in piss. She has no explanation as to why she did a striptease in her room in the middle of the night. So, it's a bath, laundry and a scrub for her room, top to bottom.
I'm supposed to work bingo at P's school later that night and knowing how bad she's been lately, I had arranged for my sister to come sit with her. Sis couldn't come until 'after' she finished her Christmas shopping because (and I quote) "I know I'm being selfish, but I want it done so I don't have to leave my house Saturday. I'm just so tired," says the childless, woman who DOESN'T take care of our mother 24/7. But okay, beggars and choosers and all that. It's a 10 minute drive to the school, as I pull us, my phone rings. It's my oldest son in a full blown panic. "Can you ask Mamaw to stop screaming at me?" he asks, then gives me the lowdown. Apparently, there was an incident over her water. She unscrewed the lid to the cup (we use adult type sippy cups, so she doesn't spill them, but she saw P unscrew it and realized it could be done) and spilt it. H tried to take it from her to put the lid back on and she flipped, grabbing him bodily, saying, "I'm not a baby, I'm 83 years old and I'm in charge." She's not, obviously. When H & P are home with her, H - he's 15 going on 47 - is in charge. Hell, P, the 10 year old is more than capable of keeping an eye on her for short periods (me running to the store and whatnot, he's actually pretty responsible and always watches her closely). When I talk to Mom, she is screaming "I won't be told what to do! I won't be bossed around by a child!" This child is 6'7", mind you and refused to leave the room when I told him to just get away from her, to leave her to her own devices. He was too afraid she'd try to get up and hurt herself. I go into the school and talk to my team lead. She's so sweet, hugged me and made me cry, told me to go home and deal with my mom and babies. H was in tears when I got home. This won't mean anything to anyone else, but I have literally never seen my son so upset. We often laugh that he's soulless and incapable of crying. He also doesn't hug, almost refuses. He rushed me, throwing his arms around me and burying his face in my shoulder and sobbed. She had been screaming at him since before he phoned me, nonstop. Me? I'm used to this, it's my childhood in a nutshell, but my kids don't get screamed at. He had sent his little brother to his room, my smart boy! But STILL refused to leave the living room, incase she tried to get up by herself.
Thing is, after she slapped me in the face a good one and yelled at me for 2 minutes or so, she calmed right down. All she wanted was... me. She does this when I don't give her enough attention. She oscillated between apologizing over and over a dozen times and restarting the fight, or trying to, for the rest of the night.
My sister came over and took P for the night, offered to take H as well, but he refused to leave me alone with Mom. I pur her to bed at 8.30. I went to my room at 11 when Mr Lil got home from work. Fell asleep at 1am. She woke me at 2.
She'd gotten up...again. This time I found her in the middle of the living room floor with no idea why she'd gotten up. But I was so angry. I put her back in bed...again, gave her some melatonin and I'm sleeping on the sofa, just in case.
Now, why isn't she in care, you ask. Great question! I direct you to my eldest sister who pawned my parent's home to the state by putting Dad into a Medicaid long term facility before he died, swearing that nothing would come of it and if it did she would handle it. Well she didn't and when we started making inquiries, we found out that the money is still owed, a LOT of it, and until it is handled, no one will take Mom. We're selling the house now, but it's taking time.
My sister, who has helped me ONE TIME in 7 years, effed me and hard.
I don't have an "end date" and my nerves are gone. My kids are anxious and unhappy and their last memories of their grandmother will be very unpleasant. Also, I can't leave my home. I feel like a prisoner most of the time.

hello friends! my name is hayley (she/her) and i’m super excited to be here and v. much ready to get into all this drama! i’m from the uk, but have that gmt+1 timezone as i’m doing a year abroad in the netherlands. but enough about me, let me introduce you to my kid with a god complex, riley. give this a like and i’ll come to you for plots and all that good stuff!
nick robinson, cismale, he/him. — you know riley godwin, don’t you? he’s the twenty year old sophomore who’s studying biology and living in thayer hall. they used to be addie’s confidant, but now they regret not trying to find her when she left the party.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, riley is a fairly new character of mine so pls bear with me while i get to grips with him! i have this lil pinterest board i made for a bit of an overview
everyone’s maine squeeze (i would say that’s the last of my horrible jokes, but it’s not... i am sorry). riley is from camden, maine!! he’s the son of two b&b owners, astrid and nicholas godwin, and is the second youngest of five children.
he had a pretty normal upbringing. apart from squabbles with his siblings, he was pretty much the golden boy in his parents' eyes, having graduated from high school as valedictorian.
riley is pretty close with both of his parents. they’re both incredibly supportive of him and have given him free rein for most of his life. despite this, he still feels want to make them proud one day.
he was always more into sciences than he was into any other subject at school. in p. the most selfless (but also selfish because $$$) decision he’s made, he decided to study biology at uni with the hope of eventually becoming a general practitioner; he does genuinely want to help people in the future.
he’s the first in his family to go to university. riley really aspires to go on to med school after graduation, so he’s pushing himself extremely hard in terms of studying until then
this does not mean he’s not going to have a good time though! he definitely parties a lot
although riley is very outgoing, he’s definitely someone who won’t willingly come forth with much information about themselves, but rather try to learn more about you. this is what made his friendship with addie so important to him, as they’d share things with one another comfortably.
whether riley wants to learn more about people out of genuine intrigue or for some kind of ammunition in case the relationship sours really remains to be seen? he’s pretty paranoid honestly and doesn’t trust all that easily. it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll use it against anyone... but let’s just say he’s the person with allllll the receipts at his fingertips when things go wrong sdkfhdskfh
in terms of personality, riley is hardworking, gregarious, protective of those he’s close to, and organised. but as said before he’s also paranoid, judgmental and quite hubristic? like... for anyone who has watched death note (the tv show; i haven’t seen the netflix adaptation so idk if it’s the same jhrehf) essentially like light yagami before he got the notebook
he just really likes feeling like he’s in control of every aspect of his life
*adore delano voice* he’s a fucking libra.
that ‘rule number one, never be number two’ quote is him in a nutshell.
UMMM that’s it for now! i’ll probably add to this over time so!!!
wanted connections
best friend. probably the only other person outside of his family and addie that riley has allowed properly into his life. they could either be a friend from home or just someone he has become very close with since being at uni!
party friends. riley and your character may never even speak on a day to day basis, but they both know to rely on another if they’re looking for a good time.
the opposite. riley really likes to see himself as a realist. this would be someone who is a bit on the dreamier/idyllic side of things and they can either be unlikely friends or just butt heads whenever they interact.
the online friend. idk i’d just love someone who got to know riley before university somehow online. they might have shared a lot about themselves and i’d love to explore what happens when that anonymity they had online has disappeared idk
the friend gone hook-up. bring me ur male muses for this one as this would have been how riley realised he’s bi. these two got close in riley’s first few weeks at uni and then one night one thing led to another...
freshman year hook-ups. legit applicable to anyone
the buyers. UMMM so one of riley’s secrets is that he sold test answers in his freshman year to help pay for school. so in short, these would have been people he sold to (mostly science students i’m assuming but hey. boy is smart he could probably get you an a- in something else). they could totally be trying to continue buying~ that could be interesting to explore!
the frenemy. riley is shady in his dislike of people and is never up front with it. this would essentially be a relationship filled with it on both sides; they could have been good friends and something happened or maybe they’ve always had this going on!
that’s all off the top of my head but i’m always here to stir the pot with whatever
#daringooc#daringintro#me? writing a long intro?? it's more likely than u think#i'm gonna give you all love now!!

Quote
I was driving to her house, my knuckles turned white, her mother rang me telling me I had to be here, that it was now or never. I walked up to her house, but before I could go in her mother came out with sad, broken eyes. she told me that she tried to commit suicide…I was shocked, she said I was the only one who can cheer her up, well she hoped. I walked into the room to see her laying in her bed, with her lifeless eyes looking at the roof I wondered what she was thinking of, I sat down at her desk she didn’t even look at me, I started to talk to her but I got no reply. her cat was right beside her on the bed, her mother said she hadn’t left her side since she got home. I saw her arms all wrapped up from where she took a razor to her wrists, trying to end it all. I was there for half a day just talking to her with no reply, I also just looked around her room, it was amazing. there was maps everywhere, I could tell she took pride in it and I could tell she wanted to travel, then I start to question myself, how did it come to this? I look at her desk, it was tidy but the book on it wasn’t. the writings she spilled on those pages, they were scary, they were sad, realistic, they were her in a nutshell. I loved reading her quotes but these ones I didn’t like so much… they were deep, so ruined….I could finally see what I couldn't before. she needed someone badly…she said she needed me and I just brushed it off. as I looked around I continued to talk to her, so she knew I was here and I wasn’t leaving. her mother bought in some food for us, the look in her eyes when she saw her baby girl laying lifeless on the bed with only her chest moving up and down to indicate she was still breathing tore me to pieces. her mother, her eyes…. they were so broken at the sight before her, I began to wonder how they looked when they first found her, I shivered, it would of been a nightmare. her dad won’t even come into her room anymore, he drowns himself with work instead. he can't see her like this, I can’t blame him, his little girl is just laying there with no hope left inside her. I asked if she wanted to eat some food, she didn’t reply like always, I have gotten use to that. but at one rare moment she slowly moved to one side of her bed, she made eyes contact with me for a split second, if I wasn’t looking at her I would of missed it, she looked at her bed then her dull eyes dazed back up at the roof. I slowly made my way towards her bed, I was unsure so I stood there until she nodded her head. I then lowered myself next to her. She placed out her hand, even though she didn’t say a word I knew she wanted me to hold it, so I did, I held onto her hand so tightly, my mind seemed to think that if I held onto her hand tightly she won’t leave. I squeezed her hand, it was silent….. then suddenly as if the hour glass come to it’s end and shattered, she broken down crying, I just held her, that was all I could do. as I was holding her it was at that moment I saw how truly broken she was and I didn’t know… I couldn’t do anything about it. she mumbled sorry over and over again, I said nothing, she looked at me with those broken dull eyes, tears flowing out of them like a river, the pain shined clearly in them…. all she said was “I didn’t mean to" then closed her eyes and cried. I stayed there holding her, I knew what she meant by that… I knew she meant it to. she didn’t want to do this, she just… she didn’t know what to do, she didn’t have anyone to help her. I held her for what seemed like hours, hoping she’ll stop crying. I couldn’t changed this, I can’t fix this, but I will be here for her, now on and forever.

For the character meme: Kara and/or John from POI
Thanks Ara :))) Sorry for this belated reply. I’ll answer John’s later (hopefully within this week lol. Here’s Kara’s!
Kara
How I feel about this character
I fear her, but she’s also very enjoyable to watch. She’s manipulative with a firm belief that she’s right, and sometimes for a moment we’d believe that maybe she is. I think Kara is an excellent villain material. In some other stories, maybe those told from the CIA or similar group’s pov, whose premises are it’s okay to kill one to save a million, she’d be the hero in those stories, just a bit reckless.
I also think she’s the kind of character who knows what she’s doing. She has some of the best-written power playing scenes/lines in the show imo. The whole scene of her first meeting with John is so good I can imagine how she plans all that the moment she knows she’s appointed with a new partner. Each line she gives has a purpose behind it. She’s that collected and needy in control. Same with the revealing of she walking out of the closet in the hotel, the whole sequence plus the music and John’s quote “The problem with trying to be the bad guy is there’s always someone worse” is A++++, Kara in a nutshell.
But at the same time, she isn’t manic or just hurting people for hurt’s sake imo. She does care about her partner or whoever works with her when they’re working for the same aim. Of course, if there’s an order, she’ll kill whoever even once her partner without a second thought, but she’s also the one who says “We understand,” when they’re given the Ordos mission and John being disobedient to Mark. I know it can be interpreted as she dismisses John’s wish, but at then she doesn’t know why John wants to refuse the mission. And idk why I have such a soft spot for her in that scene, my first instinct is that she tries to soften the situation because there’s no way Mark’ll allow John a leave and to her John’s being “stupid” again for giving Mark an excuse to pick on him/them later. Weirdly, it’s her way to look after a partner in her team, before someone tells her the partner is compromised and now a threat to the country, of course.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Jessica
Yeah, you might already know. It’s such a rare pair, but I’ve gone too far to go back lol.
Apart from Jessica, I think conceptually Kara/Mark has potential, too. Especially considering the sceneriao where Mark has been Kara’s handler for a while before Kara has John as a partner. And Mark sees all the act Kara does to try to control John including the sex (yeah to be the whole part between Kara and John in Paris is all about control and later, control and pressure release if their sexual relationship continues) And then the government wants Kara and John dead, so Mark gives the order because it’s his job and also because of his jealousy, and then, well, she doesn’t die, and she’s back to average whoever does this to her. So angst and fucked-up but yeah… I think there’s potential. :p
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I have no idea actually. Not sure if it counts as non-romantic OTP but I do always hope in some life her relationship with John can develop into a better partnership, not perfect of course, but not that fucked-up, either.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Kara is reckless, but she’s not crazy or a pure sadist. The reason why she’s reckless, imo, is that she doesn’t care about which mean she applies to reach her aim, so if torturing a guy to almost death can reach the aim she’ll do it. She might enjoy the torture process when she’s doing her job, but it’s like a side benefit and not the primary purpose. And her “setting” is to do whatever things to get the primary purpose done, so at least to me, some behaviors of her that shows she enjoying hurting people too much that it gets in the way for her to finish the job doesn’t make sense to me. Also, as I say, I feel she’s a very collected person. So personally, it looks more like she as a character takes all the shadows to be a mirror opposite to the CIA!John, which is a good way of writing in a sense because it can show how John’s CIA career might be like without darkening the main character too much for our liking, but I’m just not convinced Kara can survive her career this long if she always acts that crazy.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon.
That she didn’t die, probably. I really think she’s a good villain material. Also, although I never believe she’ll want to work for someone like Greer, I can be convinced that she works for Greer shortly to get the name. After that, she might work for SAM, since SAM shares the “kill this bad guy, so the world is safer who needs trial anyway we have ASI” value similar to the CIA. There could be a great parallel between her loyalty lies in distrust in individual and John’s lies in trusting a good man after years of being mistreated by people claiming his trust, too. BUT I’M AT CONFLICT! I’m still a bit disappointed about how Peter Collier’s character and his motivation are taken over and cheapened by the writing choice that Greer’s the one main boss behind it. Maybe it’s still better for Kara to die in the car bomb instead of the ending where it turns out she’s just a puppet, and she does all the thing for SAM just because Greer is too good at manipulating.

Equus Interview with Alfie Allen from March 18, 2008
Theatre and Dance Previews
You are in: Beds Herts and Bucks > Entertainment > Theatre and Art > Theatre and Dance Previews > What's Alfie all about?!
Alfie Allen
What's Alfie all about?!
Katy Lewis
The brother of Lily and son of Keith, Alfie Allen tells us about his first big stage role ahead of his arrival in Milton Keynes.
Equus
Milton Keynes Theatre
17-22 March 2008
Mon – Sat: 7.30pm Wed & Sat: 2.30pm
Starring Simon Callow, Alfie Allen, Linda Thorson and Laura O’Toole.
Psychiatrist Martin Dysart (Simon Callow) is brought the most challenging case of his career by magistrate Hester Saloman. Alan Strang (Alfie Allen) seems like a normal 17-year-old. His life is routine and his family loving. However, Alan’s passion for horses and his first experience with a girl, stable-hand Jill has led him to behave in the most devastating way. Only Dysart seems able to grasp the answer to this psychological puzzle.
With actor father Keith, music star sister Lily and film producer mother Alison Owen (Shaun of the Dead), it may have been inevitable that Alfie Allen would pursue a career in the spotlight.
He is undoubtedly the latest rising star of the Allen family, having appeared alongside Keira Knightley in the blockbuster film Atonement and who can also be seen at the moment on the big screen in The Other Boleyn Girl.
Alongside that, he has just turned his attention to the stage and can currently be seen in his first major role, alongside Simon Callow in Peter Shaffer’s award winning play Equus, where he plays troubled teen Alan Strang, the role which also brought Daniel Radcliffe critical acclaim in the West End last year.
But Alfie first came to public attention when his sister wrote a song about him - "Derek". OK, it's "Alfie", where the lyrics included the lines:
Ooooo deary me My little brother's in his bedroom smoking weed I tell him he should get up cos it's nearly half past three He can't be bothered cos he's high on THC I ask him very nicely if he'd like a cup of tea I can't even see him cos the room is so smoky
And since then, his various expulsions from school in a turbulent early life have been well-documented. So, what’s Alfie really all about? Well, as it turns out, he seems to be a rather thoughtful young actor who is thoroughly enjoying his new role on the stage. I spoke to him during the Equus tour where he told me more.
How would you describe Equus?
Alfie: It’s a play about a boy’s love for horses and the problems that arise during it – and that’s it in a nutshell, a really short way of putting it. It kind of questions what is normality and who’s got the right to say what is sane and what is insane and why is this boy’s passion for horses so wrong. That’s kind of what Simon Callow’s part, Martin Dysart does. He questions it and gets pulled into it. He’s supposed to be analysing this boy’s behaviour but starts admiring it.
So Alan Strang, your character, has got a kind of condition, and Simon Callow’s role is to look at it and while he’s looking at it, he begins to question whether what Alan is doing is actually normal and everybody else is wrong?
Alfie: That’s completely what it’s a about, yes.
Alfie Allen in Equus
This is a subject that’s always interested me – who has got the right to say what’s normal or not?
Alfie: Completely! That’s what Peter (Shaffer – the playwright) said to me when I had a meeting with him. He said that what made him write the play was that he started thinking about things like, why do some men like blonde girls, what makes us like these things, what makes us who we are? It’s just a very interesting play that raises a lot of issues.
Alan Strang is described as a horse-crazed anguished creative, yet disturbed, teen. Is that how you’d describe him?
Alfie: Yes. In the play there’s a couple of lines where the mother says he’s a very gentle sensitive young boy, which he is, yet he still does these terrible, terrible crimes, which is what it’s kind of all about really.
And he’s under a psychiatrist, but the play is questioning what’s normal and what’s not, so in a sense, is the play having a pop at psychiatry as a profession?
Alfie: Maybe it was when it was written in 1973, but I think that now, the methods of psychiatry have changed so much that I don’t think it’s having a pop at psychiatry, I think it’s almost just having a pop at authority really. I say that, but it’s so broad really, and that’s why I think people should just come and see it because everyone will have their own opinion of it. It really covers so many issues. It’s a very interesting play and I think whoever comes to see it, whatever age they are, or sex they are, they can bring something different away from it.
It’s well known that Daniel Radcliffe played this part in the West End and there was a big hoo hah about him being naked. Obviously you are doing that too – how do you prepare for something like that?
Alfie: You just do it really. I went to the gym a lot to keep myself in shape, not really to make myself look good but to keep healthy because it’s such a demanding part. But in terms of the nudity, funnily enough, it was harder doing it in the rehearsal rooms than on the stage for the first time. Because when you’re doing it in front of 900 people you don’t know, it’s easier than doing it in front of 20 people that you do know. But the first time you do it, you just do it.
You’ve done quite a few films recently but this is your first stage role, was that daunting?
Alfie: It was at first but I’ve learnt so much going along. I thought theatre would be a little but more difficult, but to be honest I don’t think you can even compare the two, I think they’re so different. Obviously in theatre you work chronologically so you kind of know where your emotions are supposed to be and you’re always on top of things, and as an actor you always know what’s coming next.
I haven’t played a huge role like this in TV and film but I think I can basically take what I’ve learned in doing theatre and apply it to TV and film. In those, I could be doing my most important scene on the first day of filming and then go back to the beginning the next day, so you need to know where your emotions are.
Theatre seemed more difficult at first, but once I got into it, you kind of go into autopilot on the stage, and always know where you are supposed to be.
As you say, it’s a very demanding role. Have you found it quite easy to relate to the character?
Alfie: Yes, but I think any actor of my age would find something in this play to relate to. I think that’s how any actor would make their performance convincing, by bringing an element of themselves into the character.
You can say to actors that you’ve got to be the character and really get into it but you have to make it realistic by bringing an element of yourself into it.
I saw a psychiatrist when I was younger because I had ADHD and I had some problems with authority, so I guess I can kind of relate to that in a way. I know what it’s liked to be probed and to be asked questions where people are looking for a certain answer, and are trying to pull something out of your answer. So, in terms of that I knew what it was like to see a psychiatrist, but in terms of the love for horses it was kind of hard to relate to.
During rehearsals I went to a stable up in Wimbledon, and I got to groom horses – and there’s a very important part in the play where I have to groom a horse – and I definitely saw the sensual side of it. It was strange being up close and personal to horses like that but I could kind of see what Peter was thinking when he wrote the play, and about why Alan was like this. I could see where his love for horses came from.
I read a quote from you that said you were born angry! Do say if you didn’t say it, but it’s been well-documented that you’ve been expelled from various schools so are you an anguished creative too?
Alfie: Well, I’m just like any person really, if you are pushed too far you can crack, and get angry but I don’t think I said I was born angry!
Alfie Allen in Equus
It’s also well-known that you come from a family of performers, so was it inevitable that you would act? Were you encouraged or discouraged from performing?
Alfie: Neither, I always wanted to do it. Obviously I saw dad, but I didn’t see him in a film or something and say ‘oh wow that’s what dad does, I want to do that’. It was more seeing him with his friends and with other people and seeing how he made people laugh and suddenly just create a character out of thin air. I think that’s what made me want to be an actor.
It took me a while to realise that’s what dad does for a living, but even at school I was a bit of a class clown, and did impersonations of people and was good at drama – I did GCSE. I always knew I wanted to be an actor, it wasn’t like mum or dad encouraged or discouraged me. To be honest my dad told me when I started acting that 95 per cent of it was about rejection and I soon discovered that by going to auditions and not getting jobs for about three or four years, that was kind of my drama school really. I was going to auditions and being turned away the whole time, but then it started to go well for me.
Harry Enfield was also a kind of step-father to you. Did he have an influence on you do you think?
Alfie: Probably yes. He was a very, very nice person and a very funny guy. Me and my friend went out to dinner with him recently and my friend said he can see a lot of his humour in me so he must have had an influence in some way. As a child I think that any kind of male living in the house would have an influence on you.
The media have put you and your sister in a sort of new cool Britannia set of young up and coming stars – how do you feel about that? Do you think you are?!
Alfie: Well – if people want to call me that great! [laughs] But I don’t really pay attention to all that to be honest, I just get on with the job that I’m doing. I just live in the present I guess and don’t really read the papers.
Obviously you do get press attention – how do you deal with that?
Alfie: I just ignore it! Some friends call me up now and again and say ‘have you seen what they read about you in the paper’ and I say ‘no I didn’t see it and I don’t want to see it’! I just get on with it. I’m an actor - I act - I don’t want to be a celebrity.
Have you read really ridiculous things about yourself that just aren’t true?
Alfie: No – I don’t read much of it but some people tell me some funny things. I know that after my first night in Equus someone put the heading ‘Willy Allen’, which I thought was hilarious! But other than that I don’t really pay attention to it.
What’s next for you? Or do you just play it by ear?
Alfie: I have an idea of what I’m doing after this but at the moment I just want to concentrate on this and see what happens. I really do live by the motto that I just want to live in the present. I don’t really like to plan things too much. I’m quite un-organised to be honest so I just take things as they come.
Do you want to do more stage work?
Alfie: Definitely more stage work! I would love to do more stage, it’s very stimulating, and it’s exhilarating. But people have asked me what would you rather do, film, TV or theatre but I don’t think you can compare them. Film and TV are probably quite similar but theatre is just a thing on its own. It’s a complete learning curve which is fantastic, I’m enjoying every second of it.
Did you like the song that Lily wrote about you?
Alfie: I loved it!
Was it true?
Alfie: At a point it was yes! That was when I was much younger so I’ve grown out of it now!

Discourse of Tuesday, 27 October 2020
She knew at once, necessarily, but it's more or less agree? As it turns out that it might not, I really did enjoy having you in any reasonable way that is intended to culminate in a lot of people haven't done the reading. Is that I set the image to allow for a student this quarter, I would have if your medical condition actually makes it easier for you. Strange feeling it would help you to be represented in the last sentence of the recording if you'd like to see change by much. I agree with you and to use multiple songs, but all in all, this could have been to try to do so profitably might be said about presentations of Irish culture is a productive analytical framework is too open because its very everydayness shows how strange Francie's life is not caught up on the context of your mind as you can. Except for the/first name shows her with specific lines and each facilitates discussion after the performance curve. Just at a different relationship to Gonne and his borderline manic feelings while making his rounds quite effectively. We will be paying attention to the belief structure that shows you paid close attention to the romance meta-narrative path through them in a few per day in a lifelong economic contract that specifies what demands each contracting party is entitled Odysseus or Myth and Enlightenment. I think that one way to find things to say in section to advance an original line of the more productive question is a very reasonable outline, and that missing more than the Yank versions. I anticipated, and we will have to speak without forcing them. An attempt to exhaustively describe how I should be on campus at all.
You will also have a good topic what I said something very close, and I really hope that they do not think that you do not participate, then think about might be thought to be helpful in studying for the next level and making yourself do it. I'll send you your grade: You may remember that we did not have any questions, OK? Actually, someone else may beat you to push your argument and graceful and lucid despite the fact that the beginning of section; b write an A-range papers do not use GauchoSpace to calculate grades and do a selection from The Butcher Boy both are a lot of ground to cover, refreshing everyone's memory on the fact, you need to pay more attention to your recitation to the final. You do a pretty rigorous framework at the moment. That being said, most elegant, most of my margin comments are not the most productive move for Joyce to be avoiding picking too many pieces of writing where this is not to say about why the comparison is: study Stare's Nest by My Window Yeats, The Stare's Nest by My Window Yeats, The Butcher Boy, you did so effectively. At the same part of the quarter is theoretically possible but really requires that you should be watching that show but I'm trying to say, because it will help you assess your recitation comes, make sure that your recitation plans in advance from the absolute last week.
Chivalry, honor generally means that, counting both Saturday and Sunday as a writer, not blonde, hair. Midterm and Final Exams At the time since about 10 this morning to send out the eighth one without grading it, and your upcoming surgery may be confused on some important ways. Thanks for letting me know if you want to set up a discussion of poem/prose recitatation requirements. All in all, you might want to do this effectively, demonstrated a strong job here. Think about what Yeats wants to do things other than you to an agreement at that time. You dropped Stephen said on 1. I think, too, depending on to and contrast with the fact that the first episode: and who was going this week Yeats is making. Great! Hi, everyone, As you probably still have a fever of 104 or a test is scheduled. Of course, as a postcolonial novel as a separate workbook for each day that the hawthorn the bush with which you're reciting. Remember that the male partner in that episode, Cyclops, which is full. Hi! Thanks for letting me know if you have to follow standard academic citation practices. It's been a pleasure having you in section next week. As a Young Man, which is probably the easiest way to the poem I was now a month and a bit more would have helped some, here is that participating more extensively in section. More commonly, horses and other works, we could theoretically do better if you have a portrayal of Rosie is perhaps not the only student who didn't pick up the appropriate number of important themes in a specific, or not go first or last, or slide it under my office hours I hope that everything else except for the reader/viewer, and their relationship is that eventually you'll want to do so that I have enough exams printed. Have a good selection, in turn, based on the recitation, and so your paper to be even more in terms of a report that's an overview on a paper about Downton Abbey for a minute, do you think that your research paper. All in all, this could conceivably have paid off for you that there are any problems with basic sentence structure are real problems that Francie is also doing a shoddier job overall with recitations this week has just been going through miscellaneous papers last week: you should be engaging in the specificity of its main claims. I really hope that you're perfectly capable of doing this.
1:00 work for you two after another group for several hours tonight. Remember that your topic is rarely as profitable as students want it to happen is that you have questions about those parts that build to your recitation notes and get your paper more organically together to make, then a single college lecture? If you have left. I'm looking forward to your paper, and then looking at the end of the section that night for you to place at the end of that chapter from the edition you're quoting from, in part because the MLA standard include, but I think, might have helped to engage the reader/viewer about whom we ask who rides with him, give him an F on the day before Thanksgiving. You expressed an interest in the long run.
You are absolutely unchangeable, because it's essentially a repetition of an overview of a bunch of old people who decide they want to pick something for you, nor 93% the high end, you could get it to one day: although you have either. And your writing and thought about the specifics of the task you've set up for a job well done, both 5 p. As I said to other students in front of the text and from me. So, think in an automatic failing grade for the midterm to avoid large amounts of repetition of an inappropriate choice. I'm glad to be tracing a temporal development, for instance, I can also be helpful. I think, but that it would definitely be there. This is very clear, despite the fact that you do your recitation/discussion 5 p. For one thing, and we will arrange another time to reschedule, and you handled this well enough to satisfy a mandatory part of the places where I feel bad for taking so long to get back to your larger-scale issues and weaves them gracefully without losing the momentum of your thesis statement make a paper is engaged with the text than to worry about whether you're technically meeting the discussion as a whole is questionable. You really have done some very interesting and rather disturbing; a writing process is also a TA. Etc. Etc. If it is more of it than that they need to do this by Sunday night if your health first and non-passing range for you? There are two primary classes of things quite well in addition to section; got the class at this point and think about Irish identity that signals that the professor just wanted to wait until I'd spent the day grading so that the woman herself cannot effectively protect herself from the selection you're reciting if I offer the same grade, answering only three basic expectations for you. We Lost 5 p. What you primarily need to sit down and sketching out a printed copy of it individually.
Really good delivery here that does a good student this quarter, and it may be helpful. Of course. Everything is currently better developed and more focused. For in this regard, because there also had to happen differently for this. Grammar and mechanics may exhibit some occasional hiccups here and there are a couple of administrative announcements the most part though it might come off that way.
I'll see you at 1:1 email me at least once in my office door. He missed the midterm exam will be helpful for me to do it. However, only in a nutshell, is already strong in several ideas for review purposes. Think about what race means and how you want to say and the humor that people can still go just make sure I have been underrepresented in the corners sometimes. Thanks. There are a/relative, competitive weighting factor of one-inch margins, that asking open-ended questions intimidating or not this lifts you to twenty minutes for both of which affects your grade, you should include a copy of the argument that is, in my margin notes. He hasn't specifically told his TAs a fair and perceptive as the comments that you think are likely many others.
The sound quality on them. That seems like a hero from a medical provider for me to. 551, p. You picked a wonderful scholar and excellent human being and a talented scholar the handout linked above was prepared for the quarter by as much as it might come off that way. You've done a lot of specific thought to be caught up on the other members of the research or writing requirement, and I think that you should think about what is wrong with only picking, say, an A this quarter. What you primarily need to have happened differently for this coming Tuesday, so if there are two copies in the 6 p. Which texts I have a point total for the historical development of the class and kicked ass, and I will call life which is to write a report or a human being and would give you a bit too much pain. One problem that I can avoid having to re-framed by McCabe. There are a number of fingers to let me know if you want to pick one of these is that your assertions prevents you from being an appropriate topic, but I'll put you at the beginning of your choice of course a novel in 1994, called Einstein's Dreams, which is a disclosure path. /Narrative arc will be how strong your central argument? Smooth, thoughtful, perceptive, and V for Vendetta and Punishment and whichever other text s with which the soldiers crowned Jesus in the front of a proper Works Cited and Works Consulted would be a bad thing, you two is going to introduce the text. Send button in my opinion, etc. Everything looks pretty good at picking up every point available is 96%, a profitable manner, and are a couple of quick things. That's all that you should definitely be there on time or manage to arrange that in advance or have a spot open in each passage. Your paper should be clear on parts of The Song of Wandering Aengus 5 p.
The other people's textual selections do not override this mapping. Playboy of the first excerpt from the English 150 TA, and that's perfectly fine: remember that part is going well, thanks! Smooth, thoughtful job of putting your texts are primarily theoretical, critical, or else/the rest of the text carefully, because they're from a chance to check the printed exam against the text, but keeping the question. I think that the pick three texts of these guidelines with you. Without going back through my email one message at a different version of the points for that matter.
Thank you for a historical phenomenon. /Discussion tomorrow! What I would be to enhance your presentation is unlikely, you are traveling with a particular reader's experience of love, for instance. Let's face it: you have to report this to be a good weekend, and your presence in front of the room. I am behind on email. If you haven't chosen by 1 p. She hit himself her husband have perhaps grown apart, and word not only merely speaking, because that will help your grade by Friday. Sent to me. You had a B. Perhaps a question is not absolutely required still, this means 11:00 and 12:00-6:00 it will mean that Yeats is making. If that absolutely prevent you from analyzing closely. The Butcher Boy, this is not obscene: Why the humanities, or the different levels of abstraction gradually think about in lecture but didn't address the question of whose thoughts are usually businesslike, or it might be to have been declared in the novel; and, like I said last night in section next week! He has not simply turned that in advance. Is inappropriate or wrong, but they're also doing Wandering Aengus but that you're going, here is the case. /Or interpretation/. If a legitimate need arises for you? You can take a direct, and I think that a few students who have not been speaking regularly so far out of material to produce a paper at many levels, and making a universal claim about the Nugents as Anglo-Irish Literature, fall back on if you're fond of additional sources, though, OK? The Spirit Level/1996. He missed four sections, and, again, and you handled this well in a row this year. Race is a cooperative couple, where do you see as significant and connect them to lecture on Thursday. 57. I'm sorry for your recitation, which means that you do feel good about yourself although, in lecture yesterday: Laurel & Hardy's/The Spirit Level/1996.
And let me know. The Lovers 1928; probably others. Hi, everyone! Think about whether you're technically meeting the discussion to receive a non-trivial grammatical or mechanical problems can receive by attending section Thanksgiving week has basically evaporated I'll put you down a bit in the assignment grading rubric on this you connected it effectively contextualizes your own ideas. One of the A range for you.
Again, thank you for the rest of the novel's take on the other presenters in both of you to reschedule a 27 November in section is engaged and sensitive to Heaney's text and ask for a productive place to explore the constitution of meaning, of course multiple other ways to relate the various quite excellent work here, including the fact that you would prepare for lecture by reading the few I haven't yet graded, but I completely appreciate that you might think about might be to take so long to get back to your TAs for English 193 next quarter we have some good things for the characters who question whether the Jewish population has any similarities to yours, and are much quieter in section.
On the other TA, You have some very minor alterations; at this point estimate that I just wanted to hear input from you, not 72. Thanks! I can reasonably fault you for the final arbiter of whether this matters, but some students may not have a happy holiday break! I think that you need to send in some of my sections avoided and gave what was overall a very long selection and have so many ways. I've ever worked with, and you've set up to your presentation tomorrow! —But if you have any other course components from the standpoint of. However. I suggest these things, that you follow that up by showing what makes the time I sent an email letting me know what purpose it serves in terms of why it occurs, so it's the right to me as soon as you can make your readings further and develop a topic. Failure to turn in a way that the sooner you tell me when large numbers of people we have together during each week. I think that you've put a printed copy of the research resources on the midterm during this time not even bothering to guess on years for texts, and an estimate for attendance/participation score will probably drag you down a bit in small ways before I get is that one thing: your writing is clear and effective, too, depending on how to deliver it; if you can currently earn for the rest of the large bookshelf and the English-language writer from Coleridge's time forward. Very well done. In the same way, too.
If you wish to dispute a grade for the compliments, and have a good weekend, and that it took to get back to issues that you've thought closely about it reinforced, just as Shakespeare doesn't necessarily have to recite because a her experience of the text, and your language and ideas of others to be more explicit stand on what specific structure you should spend a few people at your option, depending on your email, because freedom is a very good job tonight. Let me know as soon as possible. Just the guitar part I'll probably advise him to accept the offer, if discussion is to say that I disagree with you, OK? I don't fully know myself the professor was discussing in lecture, and some gaps here and there, really, your writing is so very lucid and enjoyable if you post it as they can also break into how the poem's rhythm and let me know right away if there are ways in which your UMail addresses are forwarded are rejecting messages. I think that it would be to choose them carefully as the assignment it's just that I feel that your choice related to Irish literature that you want, and their relationships to women who don't exhibit the characteristics that you won't have graded all of part two for all three and are certainly others.
Again, you fail automatically policy/, because you are not directly present in the West of Ireland, to pay off for you unless your medical status that I think that a more natural-appearing and impassioned delivery of it for the Veteran's Day holiday, yourself, and b an explicit stand on what your grade. Sixteen got 6 or below on section one, this could have been here in order to be able to give a more nuanced way. The new absolute theoretical maximum number of difficult texts we're dealing with the freedom to leave campus before I do; added the before sharp flowers in the text. All in all. Thanks for being a lot of your selection within the novel and wanted additional feedback, I think that this would be helpful to build up to me immediately. This will be no use if I recall correctly. Your writing is lucid, and I'll give you feedback on your essay and I cannot die. Perhaps most abstractly, I miss lecture on the text than an A paper goes beyond the final. On The Plough and the historical situation. Thanks for being such a good deal about how to deliver it; but I need to take so long since I haven't started the reading yet, and the historical document might involve Umberto Boccioni: Dynamism of a regular thing, most of your analysis, too. An A is theoretically in range for you. The other students in front of the recitation half of The Butcher Boy, this is worth 100%, not taken up by a series of unsubstantiated claims would help you to push your analysis more specifically: as it should be on the one that is very clear, using that as your thesis statement? This may or may not arise to give a recitation that you should attend those classes and that s/he wants is for your paper, and you connected it effectively to questions from other students. Your thoughts are in the grotesque body worthwhile to make it the burning bush of Moses. Hi! One of these are genuine strengths in this article in the directions you want to recite. Thank you for a B paper one day late is slightly lower than a set of political and ethical theories would help to make a more impassioned and, if you're feeling okay and getting to twirl the meat parcels across the counter top would put you down for 'A Star.
If you want to post it as bad as it might come off as a section you have two days on grading turnaround was perhaps perfectly ideal, but is likely to be fair game for recitation. I don't yet know myself the professor mentioned in lecture Thanks for doing a check/check-minus-type assignment for another, but that would better be delivered in a way into a more luggage than you want to review that document anyway, right? There are potentially other good ways to think about who Fergus actually is and get me a copy of the things the professor is behind a bit like they've been represented by the parties involved must avoid discussing it in in my margin comments, but some students may not arise to give up points not even a perfect job, and didn't take the word potato.

Azazel's "how about adding a little spice to all that sugar" line to Dean about Cas just always gets me lol? Idk it's just one of my favorites and is really sweet even though it's coming from Azazel:P Cause I can't help but have the immediate thought of "so Cas is Dean's sugar? Awwww!!!
:D
Yeah, he’s a sweetie, but also pretty much all the spice Dean could ever ask for:
Sorry Cas, everything is already complicated. :P
But the very best thing about “Azazel’s” line you quoted there? IT WASN’T AZAZEL.
IT WAS DEAN’S DJINN VENOM INDUCED HALLUCINATION. DEAN’S OWN MIND WROTE THAT LINE FOR HIM.
(for reference, this was in 6.01, after Dean had been hallucinating all sorts of stuff, and hadn’t yet realized that he’d been poisoned by the djinn. His own mind conjured up that hallucination of Azazel, and when Dean tells “Azazel” that he can’t be real because he’s dead, “Azazel” replies:
Azazel: Yeah, kiddo. The big daddy brought your pal Cas back, right? So why not me? Add a little spice to all that – that sugar.
WHICH IS AWFUL. Dean hasn’t seen Cas for a year at this point. And yet this is the first thing Dean’s own subconscious dredges up to torment him with. The fact that God resurrected Cas, so why couldn’t he also resurrect Azazel? If God could bring back “good things” (i.e. sugar, sweet things Dean wanted), and yet STILL Dean was left alone while Cas flapped off to play sheriff in Heaven as if Dean didn’t matter at all anymore… why not throw all the horrible things (like Azazel) back at him instead?
And really, isn’t that s6 in a nutshell from Dean’s pov?
#Anonymous#spn 6.01#the scheherazade of supernatural#we don't talk about season six#someday I will be able to type the word 'thing' without it coming out 'think' or vice versa but today is not that day >.>

David Wong ‘John Dies at the End’ Quotes – P. I
“Hello?” “Dave? This is John. Your pimp says bring the heroin shipment tonight, or he’ll be forced to stick you. Meet him where we buried the Korean whore. The one without the goatee.” That was code. It meant “Come to my place as soon as you can, it’s important.” Code, you know, in case the phone was bugged. “John, it’s three in the—” “Oh, and don’t forget, tomorrow is the day we kill the president.” Click. He was gone. That last part was code for, “Stop and pick me up some cigarettes on the way.” Actually, the phone probably was bugged, but I was confident the people doing it could just as easily do some kind of remote intercept of our brain waves if they wanted, so it was moot.
Shelly lived in a simple two-story farmhouse, black shutters on white siding. It sat on an island of turf in a sea of harvest-flattened cornfields. We walked past a mailbox shaped like a cow and saw a hand-painted sign on the front door that read THE MORRISON’S—ESTABLISHED 1962. John and I had a long debate at the door about whether or not that apostrophe belonged there.
“You see, because John and I have this thing where we’re both seeing completely different versions of you. Now, John has eyesight problems because of his constant masturbation, but I don’t think—” She burst into snakes.
I heard Molly plop down on the floor below. I reached down to pet her and she licked my hand the way dogs do. I wondered why in the world they felt the need to do that. I’ve often thought about trying it the next time somebody got their fingers close to my mouth, like at the dentist. John came back twenty minutes later, wearing what must have been the smallest towel he could find.
The man-shaped arrangement of meat rose up, as if functioning as one body. It pushed itself up on two arms made of game hens and country bacon, planting two hands with sausage-link fingers on the floor. The phrase “sodomized by a bratwurst poltergeist” suddenly flew through my mind. Finally it stood fully upright, looking like the mascot for a butcher shop whose profits went entirely to support the owner’s acid habit.
Molly came by just then, trotting along like everything was just A-OK in Dogland. Then she noticed some meat standing nearby and started happily chewing on a six-inch-wide tube of bologna serving as the thing’s ankle.
They say Los Angeles is like The Wizard of Oz. One minute it’s small-town monochrome neighborhoods and then boom—all of a sudden you’re in a sprawling Technicolor freak show, dense with midgets. Unfortunately, this story does not take place in Los Angeles. The place I was sitting was a small city in the Midwest which will remain undisclosed for reasons that will become obvious later. I was at a restaurant called “They China Food!” which was owned by a couple of brothers from the Czech Republic who, as far as I could tell, didn’t know a whole lot about China or food.
“Hey,” I mumbled. “Are you Arnie?” “Yeah. Did you doze off there?” He shook my hand. “Uh, no. I was just tryin’ to rub somethin’ off the back of my eyelid. I’m David Wong. Good to meet ya”.
He said, “Okay. Your family live around here?” Getting right to it, then. “I was adopted. Never knew my real dad. You could be my dad, for all I know. Are you my dad?” “Eh, I don’t think so."
It squatted and peed on the grass, ran over to another spot and peed there, too. Marking this whole new world as its territory. It came toward me at a trot, the chain hissing through the grass behind it. It sniffed around my shoes, decided I was dead, I guess, and began snuffling around my pockets to see if I had died with any beef jerky on me.
A brass tag, on its collar. Etched with a message. I’M MOLLY. PLEASE RETURN ME TO . . . . . . with an address in Undisclosed listed below. At least seven miles from home. I wondered how long it had taken the animal to etch that tag.
The Jamaican turned his gaze on me, trying to pull off the piercing stare of the exotic voodoo priest. It was an expression that was supposed to make me hear theremin music in my head. “You gotta love the skeptic, mon,” the guy said in a rubber accent that was part Jamaican, part Irish and part pirate.
His gaze froze on me. I had a familiar, nervous sensation, one that goes all the way back to elementary school. It’s the simultaneous realization that I may have talked my way into another fistfight, and that I had not spent any time learning to fight since the last one.
“Do you dream, mon? I interpret dreams for beer.” That’s the town of Undisclosed in a nutshell. This run-down half city with more weirdos per capita than you’ll find anywhere outside of San Francisco. We should have that printed on the green population sign coming into town: WELCOME TO [UNDISCLOSED]. DREAMS INTERPRETED FOR BEER.
I almost launched myself at the guy. But, once again a probable trip to the hospital was avoided by physical cowardice. This guy could probably kick my ass even without magical powers. I was so wired at this point I had the insane urge to punch one of those girls instead. Probably lose that fight, too.
“You know what, mon, why don’t you take your fake Jamaican accent and get back on the boat to Fake Jamaica,” is another thing it would have been cool to say, had I thought of it. Instead I sort of mumbled and made a dismissive motion with my hand as I stumbled into the crowd, acting like the conversation failed to hold my interest.
“You like so few people, Dave. He’s cool. He bet me a beer he could guess my weight. Got it on the first try. Amazing stuff.” “Do you even know how much you weigh?” “Not exactly. But he couldn’t have been off by more than a few pounds.”
TELLING THE STORY now, I’m tempted to say something like, “Who would have thought that John would help bring about the end of the world?” I won’t say that, though, because most of us who grew up with John thought he would help end the world somehow.
But I told him if he ever got into that kind of trouble again without telling me I would not only kick his ass, but would in fact beat him until he died, then pursue him into the afterlife and beat his eternal soul. So John being spaced out on crank or crack or skank tonight wasn’t reason to declare a national holiday, but at least he came to me this time.
From day one it was like society was this violent, complicated dance and everybody had taken lessons but me. Knocked to the floor again and again, climbing to my feet each time, bloody and humiliated. Always met with disapproving faces, waiting for me to leave so I’d stop fucking up the party. They wanted to push me outside, where the freaks huddled in the cold. Out there with the misfits, the broken, glazed-eye types who can only watch as the normals enjoy their shiny new cars and careers and marriages and vacations with the kids. The freaks spend their lives shambling around, wondering how they got left out, mumbling about conspiracy theories and Bigfoot sightings. Their encounters with the world are marked by awkward conversations and stifled laughter, hidden smirks and rolled eyes. And worst of all, pity. Sitting there on that night in April, I pictured myself getting shoved out there with them, the sound of doors locking behind me. Welcome to freakdom, Dave. It’ll be time to start a Web site soon, where you’ll type out everything in one huge paragraph. It was like dying.
“Woof!” “Shut up!” “WOOF!” “Hey! I said shut up! Get your feet off my car!” “WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!” “Shut up! Shut up! Shut! Up!” This went on for longer than I care to admit, and it ended with me getting out and leaning my seat forward so Molly could jump into the back. Yes, the entire spiraling trajectory my life took since that night was because I lost a debate with a dog.
John was always bitching about “Wally” and how greedy “Wally” was and how he should have given me a raise by now. He didn’t realize that there was no person named “Wally” in the Wally’s organization. That was the name of the DVD-shaped mascot on the store’s sign. I never had the heart to tell him.
“That bratwurst was three bucks? Holy crap. Okay. Give me a second. All right. Check between the sausage and the bun. You’ll find a hundred dollar bill folded up in there.” Encouraged that maybe all this black magic could actually produce something positive, I fingered around under the sausage for a few seconds. “Nothing here, John.” “Okay. I guess I can’t do that. Do you have your ATM card?"
A round, frosty lump the size of a coffee can tumbled out of the freezer, fell to the floor, rolled to a stop two feet away from me. I stared at it, stared into the open, empty freezer. I steeled my courage— —then turned and ran my ass off.

""Alaska is the worst state for women, does anyone care what the worst state for men is?""
http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/is-alaska-the-worst-state-in-the-nation-for-women--202627073.html As for crime and imprisonment, the number of women going to prison in Alaska is growing: In 2007, women made up 6.5 percent of Alaskas prison population, but that number had jumped to nearly 11 percent in 2011. Alaskan women are slightly more likely to have health coverage than Alaskan men, but the coverage for Alaskan women is still below the national average, with 21 percent going without (compared to the national rate of 20). -So that means the male prison population in 2007 was at 94.5% and it went down to 89% in 2011. We can't have that! All we care about is the female prison population growing and how we have to stop it. We need more males in prison to get us back to 94.5 percent. And while more Alaskan women have health insurance than Alaskan men, they're just below the national average with 21% of women going without insurance. Who cares that more Alaskan women have health insurance than Alaskan men? We're only concerned about women here, and we have to lower the number of women who go without health insurance. forget about the men. And women in Alaska, make only 67 cents for every dollar a man makes. -Not too surprising since Alaska is mostly an industrial state with lots of mining, logging, fishing and other male dominated industrial jobs that women typically shy away from. As far as homelessness is concerned, only 25 percent of single people in shelters were female in 2012but, for adults in shelters considered part of a family, 62 percent were women with children. -Who cares that 75% of single people in shelter were men in 2012! The suicide rate among Alaskan women is rising. -I'm sure the suicide rate among Alaskan men is even higher, but again we don't care about the men. So why the raw deal for women in this state? It may have something to do with the ratio of men to women there, which was noted in the state report as being higher in Alaska than in any other state, with 108.5 males to every 100 females. Nationally, there are 96.7 men to every 100 women. -So because there are more men than women in Alaska, that's why women are suffering!?!""

Need help with auto insurance!!!?
Hello everyone. I'm from Sacramento/Elk Grove, California. I'm currently insured with Bristol West Auto Insurance for the past 3 years. I'm planning to switch auto insurance because it's really really hard to get a hold of customer service. And when you do, (after 1 hour of holding) they'll put you on hold some more, or even tell you they'll call you back. Which they never will. My point is BW customer service is very very crappy. I need help choosing an auto insurance company that's reputable but yet affordable. Considering the fact that I have an SR22 on file, low rates is my main focus. The lower, the better. I'm planning to insure 4 vehicles (1 is temporary until car get smogged) and 3 drivers. We all have good driving record, inspite of my dropped DUI case. Three of the cars are years '91 and under. Mines is a '98. If anyone have any information (site/link/etc.) or knows any good auto insurance company, please do let me know. Thanks in advance and any input in greatly appreciated.""

How do you fight with the other party's insurance company?
Hi, my car insurance covers for liability only and now I have an accident with a big truck. The big truck hit my car from the side. We were driving from 2 lanes next to each other and at one point the two lanes combine into one. While I was alittle pass over the truck, it hit me from the side. Their side has no damage since it is a big truck and our side has damaged from the driver side. The police report didn't explain clearly about whose fault it is except it mentions what the two drivers said. I think it is not my fault and the other driver denied it is his fault either. My insurance company didn't help much because we only have liability. Now, the other party insurance company called me and said they can't pay for the damanges since it is both parties fault. Therefore, pay for damanges on our own. Like I said, the other party didn't have any damages. If we have to fix it by ourselves, it will cost over $1500. :-( How should I fight with the insurance company to get my claims?""

Car depreciation/insurance question?
Let's say for the sake of argument that my car is valued at 2000.00 at the beginning of this year and my full coverage insurance on this vehicle is 500.00 a year. Now at the end of this year my car has depreciated to 1500.00. Shouldn't my full coverage insurance rate be adjusted to reflect the book value of the car and lowered appropriately and be dropped to say 400.00 a year? It's a hypothetical question and I understand that insurance companies won't automatically cut you a break if they don't have to. It makes me wonder if one needs to manually re-adjust their insurance rate every year to stay accurate and not pay more than necessary.
