I could never understand what it would feel like to be created with the intent to kill and maim. Maybe, the intent to work and be worked, but not kill and maim.

I will never understand what it's like to be created with the intention of being a product for the masses, either. I think, I hope, I beg, no one does.

I will never ever be able to fully comprehend why hours of people's work, time, and money would be put into formulating my sentience only for me to be seen as disposable. Even if I could be improved, even if I were "defective", there is no reasonable justification for giving me emotions only to dismiss them by pushing me as a product for a year before starting anew.

time to vent: can we enjoy male characters who canonically explore dressing fem without deciding as a fandom that they're not men anymore, please? can we enjoy that kind of exploration happening without immediately deciding pretty clothes decide who a character is? or at least, please tag your posts calling them women with something. as a trans guy who even in an ideal world probably wouldn't ever pass, who'd love to be able to wear skirts without being called a woman for it, that shit hurts.

Man, it didn't hit me until earlier just how much war went on with Rosaria.

Like you have the Northern Territories, who kept giving them trouble for centuries until Elwin, as Archduke, finally managed to stamp out the conflict once and for all(even if it did involve underhanded, unsavory methods in addition to the war).

Then there's the Iron Kingdom, and the centuries of struggling against them for control of Drake's Breath -- which Rosaria kept losing and having to retreat from each time.

(And these are only the ones that I know of thus far. So if there's more lore from the game that talks about other conflicts with Rosaria and the other nations, I am happily all ears to hear about it!)

sorry but ppl on the internet are so naive when they genuinely believe the majority of people "hate capitalism".... that isnt anywhere near the truth. most people are sheep that just go along with what society says is right. when im out there and talk to "normal" people and listen to their convos they are literally pro capitalism. they talk about how the 8-5 work day 5/week is GOOD bc they get to work a lot and make "a lot" of money. many people will complain about unfair work hours and too big of a work load but they dont do anything more than complain... they wont vote for the left, they wont join unions, they wont stage protests or demonstrations... most ppl are like "omg fuck capitalism lmao ahhhaha fuck capitalism am i right???" but they still dont actually do anything to change it... because the entire point with capitalism is that it is comfortable and convenient. netflix and spotify is capitalism. ordering takeout is capitalism. having packages arrive to your door or close by is capitalism. concerts by your fav artists is capitalism. flying a plane to resorts all over the world is capitalism.... ppl only say "fuck capitalism" bc yes they're overworked and underpaid, but they dont actually want to live in a society without capitalism. it would mean a profound change of our entire reality as we've known it for centuries. it would be extreme. it would actually feel like it does in movies where the world is ending and society resets. it's too scary to actually go through with, and no one wants to do that. saving the planet and tearing down capitalism... would mean an extremely different world and life. no more driving your car to work and to the store and to the gym and back and forth to your parents or friends. no more going to multiple concerts every year. no more going to luxury resorts in ibiza or greece. no more online shopping. no more ordering takeout. the truth that nobody wants to admit, because no one wants to admit that they would choose to continue living in comfort even if it means destroying this planet, is that no. you dont hate capitalism. not truly. most people do not hate capitalism. if most people did... we wouldnt have the world we have now and always have had since capitalism was introduced. humans make this world. we get the world we deserve. and nature trying to kill us is what we deserve. it's like when we're sick and our bodies get fever to burn the virus. we are a virus. we could choose to stop. but we dont. only a small handful of people are willing to actually do what it takes to save earth. most ppl who make silly comments about oh my god fuck capitalism tihihihihi are not part of that small amount of people. it is sad, especially for the people who do get it, who do want to save earth, because we are such an extreme minority we have no power at all. the masses win. and the masses have chosen to live in greed and consumerism and comfort even if we'll pay the highest price thinkable.

Madam Yu's two handmaid's love and respect her, and Madam Yu actually defends them when Wang Lingjiao tries being a Karen to them. She also tells Wang Lingjiao to fuck off when she demands the Jiang servants bring her tea.

Also, Karens are unpleasant women, but not all unpleasant women are Karens. That term is about entitlement and being unreasonable (and often times, racist). Madam Yu is mean and unpleasant to talk to, but she keeps most of her interactions brief and probably doesn't have the time or mental energy to be a Karen or hold a grudge that long. If you want an actual example of a Karen in mdzs, Wang Lingjiao is right there

so the other day me and some friends got to talking about star wars because two people didn't watch it until this year so it was all "omg you've only watched it now???" "what order did you start?" "how did you survive???" kind of thing

anyway

one of them mentioned that they enjoyed the prequels more because it didn't look as dated as the OG three. and you know, i can see where she's coming from because the effects in the prequel trilogy match the CGI if that time. but if you were to look at the original trilogy practical effects with "modern-day" CGI, it looks....off.

there are too many extraterrestrial animals in the background, certain scenes are added just to show off CGI that slow down the story, and you can just tell that the CGI doesn't mesh well with the rest of the films (the animals look too saturated for example).

so, for someone to only now hop on and watch these films, i totally get what they mean by labeling 4-6 as "dated". the added CGI only adds to that fact that these movies came out in the 70s and 80s not the early 200s or 2010s (although those can look dated as well but those are more from outdated lines imo). you can clearly see the blur line where the green screen would be, you can tell that a landscape scene was just a tiny recreation of the setting, the puppets looked like puppets.

however, i don't think that should take away from the films. a lot of older movies show their age, but somehow that makes them more endearing. "Gone With the Wind" is super dramatic and the soundtrack is very reminiscent of plays or operas, "Back to the Future" is campy and very 80s that you wouldn't want it to be anywhere else, "Indiana Jones" has the classic epic tropes of an adventure man (not to mention you can point out which backgrounds were painted or not): all of these films show their age but nothing about that makes them not good enough to watch. they're just a film that was made to the best it could be with the materials their time could provide.

therefore, it is my opinion that george lucas should had kept the OG trilogy as they were because it keeps the magic that captivated many and shows off its quality. choosing to add in CGI later hindered 4-6's quality and made the films too cluttered. moral of this post, stop shoving CGI in older films to make them modern enough for younger viewers because not only are you diminishing the film's quality, you are implying that the practical effects used in your films were not good enough and aren't high quality.
