Things I wish more people would talk about in Lego Monkie Kid

(Prepare for a rant longer than the bible /silly)

Spoilers for LMK seasons 2, 3 and 5 (also a brief mention of emotional abuse, and trauma)

Li Jing's terrible parenting

First of all, can we acknowledge that Nezha was CRYING when he had to go against his father??

LOOK AT HIM

How are we supposed to forgive Li Jing so quickly when all he does is talk down to Nezha? And you could argue that Li Jing said he was always proud of Nezha, but all he did was treat him terribly, and as an expert on horrible parents (*cough* my dad *cough*), if they're in a situation where they have to say the right words, 👏 THEY 👏 MOST 👏 LIKELY 👏 WON'T 👏 MEAN IT 👏, especially if they don't change after that. Li Jing could possibly change his treatment of Nezha, that still doesn't forgive what emotional trauma he could've given Nezha to make him CRY AT THE THOUGHT OF GOING AGAINST HIS ORDERS. Now, you could say that Nezha just didn't want to betray his father, and that's what made him cry, but the evidence still points to Li Jing being a horrible father. And I might have a bias towards Nezha, since he is one of my favorite characters, but I know for a fact I'm not the only one who thinks at least one of these things, because I learned one of these things from a post I saw (I can't find it tho, but if anyone might know what I'm talking about, please tell me). Keep in mind I'm not in any way a psychiatric professional, but I do know about what emotional abuse can do to a person, and how the way a parent treats their child can really effect the child's mental health.

Summary: It is implied that Li Jing is a terrible father.

How Possessed Sun Wukong is actually really creepy, and how he is the perfect temporary antagonist

I hardly think the first part needs explaining. LOOK AT HIM

Now, we all know how Wukong is, like, one of the most powerful guys in the world. Which makes it even more shocking when he is turned against the protagonist, whom he cares about like a son/brother/whatever you prefer (as long as it's not proship-y), by someone who is thought to be less powerful than him. Usually, Wukong makes a lot of noises while fighting, which is something really intimidating about the absence of any grunts or yells when he is possessed. I will use this scene for example

And there is just something about the zero hesitation to attack anyone, up until the end of the special when he slowly walks up to MK, showing that he is fighting LBD's control. And, may I just add, that scene is REALLY CREEPY

Anyway, as I said in the title of this rant, Wukong is a perfect temporary antagonist. He is extremely powerful (so powerful that he literally punched the lotus out of Nezha)

He caused a crater in the ground from punching Nezha one time, and he took one step and caused a dent in the ground. The protagonist (MK) clearly doesn't want to fight him, and Wukong is immortal. He LITERALLY WALKED THE UNIVERSE-ENDING FLAME

NOTHING CAN KILL HIM! (I apologize for the quality of some of these images, my tablet sucks)

This next thing ties into Wukong's possession--

LOOK AT THE PURE FEAR ON MACAQUE'S FACE WHEN HE IS FACE-TO-FACE WITH WUKONG

That is the face of a guy who is reliving trauma. And let's not forget the scene in the Shadow Play episode where MK charges at Macaque, and the flashback to Wukong flying at him makes it very clear what this moment reminds him of. And in the Benched episode, he tries to convince Tang that his friends (and specifically Wukong) are better off without him, and I bet that's how Macaque felt when Wukong had killed him. I really hope that season 6 touches more on Macaque's trauma.

Now, onto my last topic (finally, I spent so long writing this overanalysis about Legos)

Wukong apologized to MK

If you remember, in season 3, Wukong actually apologized to MK. This is mainly something I'm just really happy about, because he finally admitted he made a mistake. Throughout the first two seasons, Wukong is known to be a silly guy, not taking things seriously, and not admitting his mistakes, so for him to actually apologize for something he did, and actually look guilty for it, is something that just really is nice. LOOK AT HIM (fourth "LOOK AT HIM" of this rant)

He is genuinely sorry. Now if he could APOLOGIZE TO ALL THE OTHER HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HE HAS MADE ANGRY, THAT'D BE GREAT

LOL when I read the big "fight" I was thinking- that's it? Literally all this build up for the fastest fight?? Some final thoughts- that felt really abrupt. Like it just ended very fast. These two really have a strange relationship (I am sure more happens in the extras but as is stands it is still so ambiguous). Nary a real declaration of love, and their intimate moments were all fabricated by other situations or a product of deceit. I am excited to dig into the extras to see more about their relationship.

Nova’s Thoughts - Dracula Daily - August 24

In which Mina and Jonathan are reunited at last!!!

Even if Lucy wasn’t eager to hear everything (and I’m sure she is) I am!!! Tell me everything bestie!!!

That being said, I love that Mina knows Jonathan remembers more than he lets on, that he’s keeping it from her in part to protect her and in part to protect himself. Again, she’s so smart!

And now my *other* favorite part of this entry — the wedding present. Mina “returning” the notebook to Jonathan and sealing it with wax and her wedding ring is so 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶 AHHHHH! I just love it because it’s a sign of trust for them!!!! She’s letting him know she won’t open it without him knowing about it (something he likely was worried about, but didn’t show for her sake). Plus, she promises not to open it unless she absolutely has to, despite her obvious curiosity (she is studying journalism, after all and the situation does involve 💕her husband💕)

The fact he was going to even tell her a part of his past just to show her how much he appreciated the present (but couldn’t)…DRACULA WHEN I CATCH YOU—

Emotions aside, I wonder what he was going to share with her? Shaving mirror incident? The lizard climb down the castle? Something more dark? I feel like he would’ve shared something medium bad — not too horrifying, but bad enough to justify a shock. It’s pretty bad that I can’t obviously guess which incident he could share because there are *so* many to choose from here :(

Alr I watched it and I have things to say and you're free to listen First of all deuce's dream caught off guard so badly. Like, the mohawks ??? And also everyone talking like gang members and the presentation screens ?????? This was magical like omg. But also Sebek having a moment near the end is soooooo cute like I can't explain it he was ADORABLE and I'm barely over the way Silver said "He's not mean at heart" like YEAAAAH YOU GET IT And Cater's dream was... Not what I expected but I'll take it too. Cater and Trey having a dab me up moment like the tweels did was lovely, DJ Riddle was... Unexpected. I also did NOT expect for the Cater we saw first to be a duplicate that melted down cause I was so confused when the goop was acting weird but Cater was too and I thought the devs just... Did it for fun but no he was goop all along ! Woah !!! (ngl the three of them acting like they put weird stuff in the food was making me so uneasy- In general I feel a bit sick when the goop twists the images of already existing characters but yk-???). Also really neat how cater was similar to Rook and went "woah something wrong is happening" and kinda just woke himself up without as much help as the others. Last note but the Pre-Riddle Heartslabyul lore ? I'm eating all of it up. I already thought about Trey and Cater's first year a lot cause, well, they were here BEFORE the dorm leader so yeah. And now I'm gonna think about it even harder cause it was essentially just the average London dark and isolated alley. Idk how to properly explain but the TL:DR is : Woah ! Unexpected, but very nice. I'm eating well.

Gotta be honest: I don't know what moment you're talking about but I feel like it'll make me like Sebek even more. Idk, ever since Book 7 started (and the Jp events coming out through that time) made me dislike him less. Maybe because Malleus was taken out of the equation.

Well like thousands of other theatre fans around the world I tuned in for, in my opinion, THE streaming event of the year last night and what a treat it was. I’m going to ramble and gush for several paragraphs so please bear with me…

What can I say about “Vanya” and Andrew’s performance that hasn’t been said before? I particularly love how they cleverly gave each character a ‘thing’ or quirk to help the audience identify who is speaking. I mean all the different accents he does are impressive - real dramatic Irish ‘mammy’ type voices for Liam and Elizabeth down to a more friendly, sedate middle Ireland lilt for Micheal and a small vulnerable, somewhat broken voice for Alexander. And of course Helena’s posh English accent blew my mind too. But I’m talking about a physical attribute or habit - a bouncing ball for Michael for instance, or Ivan’s use of his sunglasses. Subtle but works brilliantly 👏

Then there are the facial expressions which Andrew is just so good at. In theatre particularly they make such an impact when you can fill a period of silence with a facial expression and it says a thousand words. He is just outstanding in this field. And not just in the comedy moments - he could make me die laughing and shatter my heart equally with a single facial expression, and I know I’m not on my own when I say that.

I read the screenplay beforehand a couple of times and I’m glad I did as it did help to know which scene we were at and which key moments were about to occur. However there were still new things I picked up whilst watching it. Like it hadn’t become clear to me until last night that (spoiler alert!) Sonia was in unrequited love with Michael (a man clearly much older than her as insinuated in the script) - only that HE harboured feelings for someone he shouldn’t…

And I guess I can’t not touch on THAT scene between Helena and Michael 🔥 How the holy hell does one man play two people giving in to their desires and make it look believable? Well, if you’re Andrew Scott, you take off your shirt and start humping the floor and a closed door I guess! 🤭 (Not even gonna lie when I say I’ve thought about that scene an unhealthy amount of times! 😂). And then seeing Ivan’s shocked expression when he walks in on them holding the flowers 🤣 Absolutely frigging brilliant!

I would recommend everyone watch this once at the very least… I will obviously watch it a few more times as with most things you always pick up new details. It was undoubtedly a brave, experimental thing they decided to do last year without knowing how it was going to turn out but kudos to the whole team for putting together something so brilliantly surreal 👏

(I can’t say much about “People, Places and Things” atm as the NTAH platform crashed about two thirds of the way through it and they had to start the whole stream over. I took to doing something else rather than rewatch 75 minutes of something I’d just watched - and then fell asleep! So I haven’t seen the last part. I will come back with my thoughts on that one when I’ve watched the bit I missed!)

Texting HC for the boys

Wind - Uses discord way more than text. Commonly mutes chats. He gets a million discord messages from different groups and he can't be bothered to listen to every time someone complains about the mountain of dishes he left in the sink. If you really want to reach Wind you have to jump on discord or go to his room.

Twilight - Doesn’t like to send more than one message in a row because someone called him desperate one (1) time in high school and he never recovered. So instead he’ll send you a whole paragraph and agonize if he forgot to mention something. Everyone’s told him its fine to send literally a million texts in a row but Twi can’t get over it.

Warriors - Will 🙌 ironically 😎 text 📲 like ❤️ this 👏. But only when he wants to be annoying. Otherwise he’s fine and he can use emojis like hieroglyphics if he wants and he’s able to make himself very clear with just an eggplant emoji and a raised brow emoji.

Wild - Commonly texts the wrong chat and confuses the hell out of people. Accidentally forgets his phone in the other room and doesn’t see people’s messages until its several hours too late btu still texts them back like “oops sorry just saw this man” as if they didn’t know. Uses emojis liberally and goes on tangents and makes everyone forget what they were talking about. The people love hearing from him, but its hard to stay on topic when Wild is in the group chat.

Champion - Full words, no abbreviations. Will straight up send you an “acknowledged” instead of an “ok” to let you know he read your message. Never uses emojis. Ever. The one time Warriors did convince Champ to send a thumbs up emoji to Sky instead of “affirmative”, Sky almost broke down the dormitory door because he thought Champion had gotten kidnapped and was sending a coded cry for help.

Legend - Spams the fuck out of everyones phone when he’s pissed, which is a lot of the time. Doens’t give a shit what group text he’s in he’ll fucking send you an essay one sentance at a time cursing Sky out for eating the last of his goddamn breadpudding.

Hyrule - Never responds on time. He’s always busy and in a rush so when he reads a text and it doesn’t say something like “help i got shanked and now my liver is flopping around on the ground like a beached fish” then he’ll promptly forget what he just read. At the end of the day he might flip through his messages to check what he missed but normally he relies on Legend to fill him in on anything important.

Sky - Forgets which group chats hold which roommates so he’s the guy who will start a new chat every time he has a question. Has basically every permutation of group chats possible and yet will still find a way to make more. And he gives them names like “get milk” and “hairdryer?” so you never know whos in the group chat at a glance. It’s impossible to find anything. Plus, he sends texts half-asleep that mean nothing when he gets woken up too early.

Four - His texts are inconsistent as hell. Sometimes its emoji hell, sometimes it’s MLA essay format. But two things are always consistent: you can always detect the sarcasm and he’ll turn on his read receipts just to let you know he left you on read.

Time - Texts in full sentences but overall is a normal texter. But he types with his pointer finger with two hands so his real crime is being old.

Dark - When he got put away texting was in its infancy so he texts like “G8 C u L8r” and “ur 2 much”. The first time he texts Time after he gets out Time feels his soul vaporized by the blast from the past. Thankfully it only takes Dark one text to Shadow before the boy is physically showing up outside Dark's door to bring him into this century.

Shadow - Spams dumbass videos and memes like his life depends on it. His job is a lot of waiting around so he’s got time to kill and you Will receive messages from him at 39 mph (memes per hour).

^^ Okay, first of all, OW OW OUCHIE!?, and secondly, I'm going through this mornings posts, and I swear I see even more heartbreak-post breakup- enemies to lovers to enemies again-but still in love-drama-angst between Rhaenys x Alicent in the chained beneath the waves tag than rhaenicents ask for in canon. And I love it 😂😭 I feel like I'm reading the morning newspaper while sipping my coffee and scrolling through right now, lol. That gets me 😭 ^^^ because what weaknesses that whole paragraph invokes in both of these ladies. 👏 Rhaenys is absolutely horrified that Alicent actually thought her capable of burning her and still haunted by the memory, even more so because she was upset Ali thought her capable of burning her children during the coronation, and then she ended up in a situation where she truly did have to, it eating her up, and Alicent is afraid to face the visible proof of Rhaenys and her boys having to fight, the scars on her body forever a reminder, just like Aegons.... refusing to face the scars on her body, forever a reminder to Ali that it wouldn't have happened to either if the succession hadn't been usurped and challenged... They're going THROUGH IT.

So I saw the results of the character poll and I would like to voice my support of Noah as the all time GOAT of the Goldencomet-verse

Ik Peter won, and don't get me wrong, I love Peter, but maybe he's a bit too much of an asshole. Like, he doesn't catch enough retribution for his actions and Benji is kinda forced to deal with it and it's played off as a joke. Sure, Benji flings enough insults to make a French man laugh, but none of them are really taken seriously by anyone (especially that dress scene. That was wrong and no one ever apologized in the slightest, even Peter). I need some retribution and I need some W's for me to ride or die for a ship.

That all being said, that's one of the reasons why I LOVE Noah (and Ali). Noah, while being super introverted (from what I've seen), he's still not taking shit from anyone. AND ALI RESPECTS IT 👏👏. I like myself a relationship built off of genuine pure-bred respect. That's why I love enemies to lovers or rivals to lovers (even though idk if YWIMC counts as either. Could be wrong tho). Most of the time in those two tropes, the romance stems from genuine (although begrudging) RESPECT. And respect and pity are two different things. 'Aw poor *insert character here*' also isn't a good relationship foundation. If the relationship isn't built off of long-standing respect of the 'I see you as my equal' caliber, I don't want it.

I would also like to voice my love for Noah in a separate paragraph, cause I kinda just yapped about the relationship lol. Noah, as I mentioned, doesn't take shit from NOBODY. 'Introverted' sure as hell doesn't mean pushover when it comes to Noah. And, for every ounce of not taking shit, there's an equal amount of softness towards those he loves. You need an equal balance for a delicious romance and he does it perfectly 🤌🤌. I also like that, while he isn't the strongest physically, he's still not a pathetic mop of a character. He earns his wins through his own means and HE DESERVES IT. Even when he has help, he's not the ever constant damsel in distress waiting for his big strong boyfriend to save him. He does something, he tries his best, and I respect him for it.

Noah has trouble expressing his emotions due to his ASD, so seeing him make genuine wins and setting firm boundaries with people make us go, “YES! Don’t take shit from anyone! 👏 👏 👏”

One of the main themes of YWIMC is stepping outside of comfort zones and letting rigid barriers fall (in Noah’s case) whereas the lesson that Ali learns is that you can love someone regardless of your upbringing, and to eventually get over fears of attachment.

Seeing so much love for Noah is genuinely heartwarming, and I thank you so much for making this ask! 💫

honestly like going through your asks i agree sm how underwhelming heroes of olympus was. like in the og series there was so much death, betrayal, and character development and in hoo we see percy and annabeth in tartarus (which i felt like their disappearance should have had waayy more of an affect on the rest of crew but without annbeth as their leader and percy as their glue how are they serving) and Nico's forced coming out ceremony (poor boy was tamazatized by cupid and ric didn't even delve into much more after that?).

gaea was so underwhleming and i don't belive at all that she could have been beaten after she was fully formed. like there was no actual counter against a primordial and percy and annabeth only defeated luke bcuz he killed himselves. like i don't think celestial bronze can actually do enough damage to kill a god, yet alone the earth! (divine weapons be looking a little enticing here) and at least with kronos their was a personal connection. like i get that she tried to kill the people in the prophecy like with leo but i felt like it was so long ago leo had already comes terms with his mom's death. there was no emotional charge that should have been there and the romans vs greeks was so disappointing. i didn;t like at all that the greeks were good and the romans were evil and i felt like jason was to easily accepting within greek ranks. like yeah i get it, greep camp is more chill but their was no promised internal hostility and it just felt like their big battle wasn;t that big of a mutal battle, just greeks tryan stop another invasion. and don;t get me started on the athena statue. that was written SO weird and it definitely should have been established way earlier in the series. and poor nico and reyna tryna haul it across the world when they could have contributed much more. their perspectives was such a snooze-fest and i was just like what the hell is this side-quest?

like the second series was more mature and professional writing wise so i expected much more blood and gore. every demigod was a tragedy is the og series so it was so weird to see everyone live happily ever after after. and like i felt like he forgot how to create chemistry after percbeth. like japer??? was lacking like any flavor and hazel and leo had more chemistry than frank. like frank and hazel could have been such a good sable couple if they were written better. and the foced interactions with the mini-quests in the books were so awkward. rick should have created so much more interactions with each other or killed them off if he couldn't manage that many characters.

heroes of olympus honestly seemed so... poorly planned to me? like with pjo, a lot of plot points connected so well together whereas hoo was a mess and i genuinely think the amount of main characters was what rick had a lot of trouble with.

the first two books, the lost hero and the son of neptune were actually pretty good and that's because both books strictly focused on just three characters and three povs each. but then when the seven finally joined, things went downhill 😭

the last book was super disappointing. the seven + gods vs the gigantes went by really quickly and most of the "fighting" was just a paragraph or two of each battle. as for the gaea battle.... yeah 💀 i think it would've been cooler if the demigods (roman and greek) worked alongside the gods to take gaea down since, like it was mentioned many times before, that gaea would've been hard af to beat once she formed 💀

A DETAILED TEAM UP OF THE DEMIGODS FIGHTING ALONGSIDE THEIR GODLY PARENT??? POSEIDON AND PERCY SQUARING UP??? ZEUS AND JASON????? ANNABETH AND ATHENA???? octavian could've been better written too! it was clear that he was supposed to be the "luke" of the second series with gaea as "kronos", but his death was meh to me unlike with luke who i genuinely felt bad for especially since his reasons made sense. octavian... i didn't feel any sympathy for.

rick's favoritism for piper was also an issue for me too, especially as i grew older and out of my 'not like other girls' phase 😭

6. Favorite title you used most of my titles tend to be song lyrics, so they're nothing too notable, but i quite liked the once (and many) prince(s), if only because it's a play on the title "the once and future king" in reference to king arthur!

the irony is that i didn't quite remember where i heard it from, nor the significance behind it, until i took an arthurian class recently ;; apparently the once and future king symbolises the fact that king arthur is said to come back and save britain in its time of need. given that au's silver and how he keeps reincarnating over and over for the sake of his people who cling to him as a symbol of hope... yeah, it's quite a fitting reference

(alternative answer: i am so stupidly proud of naming a fic about periods red wine supernova. sorry, i am not immune to silly names)

10. What work was the quickest to write? oh god, i don't fucking remember LMAO. i write fast in general, so that's one thing, but you're also asking me to remember how long it took me to write stuff earlier this year when i have the memory of a goldfish

well i'm taking glaciers into the new year with me, bastard child that it is. i've still got that locked in the freezer epel fic that i REALLY want to return to and finish someday, somehow. i've got another bthb fic focused on adaine that i just about barely started but haven't continued, and i have an ortho fic that i'll probably chip at slowly with the intentions of gifting it to my best friend once it's done, whenever that may be. and that's just everything off the top of my head.

this is actually more wips than i'm used to holding at any one time. i'm usually more of a "focus on and finish one fic" writer...

Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? technically already answered here, but seeing as you're a twst girlie... i guess i'll share a little bit that i really like from the aforementioned ortho fic (though do NOT expect it to be finished anytime soon when my priorities lie elsewhere for now!)

i like the dichotomy in flow! i like how i went from one very long, rambling, run-on paragraph to a shorter one, and then one single sentence with four lines. it's a fun rhythm, and it really makes that last sentence hit all that much harder.

anyways, i'll get back to this someday. contrary to my very diasomnia focused past, i do love a lot of the twst cast, and i'm especially fond of the shrouds — it's just that idia's mode of speaking has put me off writing them for way too long ;v; thank god ortho doesn't speak like that (though i will have to tackle the elder shroud eventually... uuugh maybe that's why i'm procrastinating returning to this)

so very fucking proud of Larian and all the work they put into BG3 but also so incredibly proud of Neil and the fact that the heart and soul he put into his character got to be recognized and appreciated last night. I could honestly write paragraphs worth of how I connect to his character personally, how I see so much of my own struggles and hurt reflected in Astarion, but we ain't got time for that. I am just so fuckin happy that this character, who is so special to so many people, got to have this spotlight. Kudos, Larian 👏

This episode of Cinema Therapy gives me so many Zelda feelings.

So many points here are lessons she learns on her way to her Elder Verse, in which she is the true embodiment of wisdom (the Uncle Iroh of Hyrule, if you will.)

It’s the importance of choosing peace. Choosing gratitude. Choosing happiness.

The choice not to be defined by your mistakes but to learn from them and share your wisdom.

You get one life, and you’re the one who steers the ship: so steer it in a direction that brings you joy.

Everyone’s behavior makes sense to them. Everyone’s perspective makes sense to them. And if you have enough humility to say, “Help me see what you’re thinking and why you’re doing what you’re doing, help me to see through your eyes so that I can not only understand you, but also learn and grow myself. That is how bridges are built.

This paragraph here is SUCH a big moment in Zelda’s character arc because this is what she does. This is her tonal-shift moment with Link. Where she stops, reflects on her actions, decides they aren’t fair, apologizes, and then works on getting to know his perspective.

Her journal entry literally says—

“I always believed him to be simply a gifted person who had never faced a day of hardship. How wrong I was...

Everyone has struggles that go unseen by the world... I was so absorbed with my own problems, I failed to see his.

I wish to talk with him more and to see what lies beneath those calm waters, to hear him speak freely and openly...

And perhaps I, too, will be able to bare my soul to him and share the demons that have plagued me all these years.”

Zelda’s cognitive behavior therapy in which she “shifts of way of thinking to experience joy and peace.” She doesn’t want to be 100 years into the future in BOTW. She doesn’t want 99% of her loved ones to be dead and her only home in ruins. It’s not a great situation, and she could dwell on the failures of it (and sometimes she does think about that) but ultimately, her reaction is—

“I believe in my heart that if we all work together, we can restore Hyrule to its former glory. Perhaps…even beyond.” Democracy, you say?

“I can no longer hear the voice inside the sword. I suppose it would make sense if my power had dwindled over the last 100 years....I'm surprised to admit it...but I can accept that. "

She’s focusing on what she can control, what actions she can take, and choosing to find peace, happiness, and acceptance in this new life.

This episode mentions “people who aren’t happy until they’re satisfied,” which means they are never happy, because satisfaction is a constantly moving goal post. And this is Zelda to a T. It’s still her even in this new state of shifted perspectives and understanding, but she’s on her long, long journey out of it.

Also, Carl Roger’s on, “What people need is to feel loved and accepted. So we can address problematic behaviors or thinking patterns that aren’t serving you, but what you need to know is that you have worth and that you’re loved.”

BOOM. What a mic drop moment. This is precisely what Zelda needs and it’s what she learns to give as she gets older. There’s hints of it now. The episode goes on to mention that Iroh can always find something positive to give a genuine compliment, and Zelda’s much the same. As harsh as she is on herself, she can see so many factors of what make other people and she can appreciate their strengths, even if it’s not one that’s initially obvious.

“The pursuit of perfection is exhausting and you’re never going to get there.” Read that again, Zelda. “The pursuit of connection can also be exhausting, but you can get there…and once you achieve it, it will be replenishing.”

Yes 👏 Yes 👏 Yes 👏

“We’re happy to give help because we feel powerful and virtuous when we’re helping others…but accepting help is harder because we feel weak…if that’s true, then we’re all weak, and we can just accept that. But there is no weakness in needing help. Everybody does. And being able to ask for it, or accept it when it’s offered is a virtue. It’s not a vice. It’s a strength.”

donghua made xie lian full grab xie lian's face while it was a poke in the book but i approve of both versions, all very cute, all very likely to make hua cheng fall in love even more

READING THOUGHTS:

im so, so glad i rereading lfay, it is honestly such an awesome fic and the writing so amazing! personally, since this was kind of my first time reading through the entire thing without multiple day breaks, i was definitely able to pick up on less obvious details (which are compiled below!) that made everything so much better!!! i genuinely felt like i was experiencing the story again for the first time, which made me able to appreciate and become engaged with the more emotional scenes and chapters! some of my favourites of these include chapter 23 (i was evidently moved enough to leave a comment mid read 😅😅), chapter 28 and chapter 34.

for sister sunrise, the description of elphaba reflecting over her room for the last time really got me :') the paragraph was written super beautifully and after going through most of the story i reallyy felt the nostalgic and sentimental aspect.!!!! dorothy and the dark was already a pretty emotional last chapter, but in particular fiyeraba saying goodbye to glinda and elphaba reflecting on her relationship with fiyero to get through the dark were some i really appreciated and loved!

aside from that, i loved being able to notice how elphaba went from following the rules to playing by her own since it was written with a pretty clear distinction! despite it, you managed to still write her so in character and i applaud you for it! 😁

i was wondering, was it difficult for you to write each character through all of these emotions and emotional scenes? im super in awe of how well characterised they are, i can't lie my mind started mixing some of the musical and this fic together because of it how accurate it all is!!! 👏

fiyero having the same reaction to elphaba's temper from two different "lives" 💞 i can't help but love this little detail! i also picked up on how fiyero jokes about seeing the present in chapter 20 in comparison to him being sincere about it in the epilogue! super super subtle but one of my favourites !! there was also when elphaba sarcastically suggested enjoying the ocean in ev to considering in the last chapter, i laughed when i first read it and i still do when i think about it :)))
