it is completely fine to have different interpretations of a character, that is what the fun is all about. but if you honest to goodness believe that emmr*ch expresses any form of commitment phobia in regards to romantic love… then idk what to tell you
#once again i am left thinking: did we play the same game??????#trying so hard not to be mean about this but#imagine writing an entire essay and the conclusion you come to is that emmrich is a romantic chaser/performative#that has actually been gamophobic all along#emmrich’s fear of death is all-consuming and not something to be reasoned with (he says so himself directly)#by this extension this overwhelming fear would naturally apply to romantic love as well#that is the very sentiment he is trying to express during the argument#this isn’t him trying to break up with rook cause suddenly romance is So WeVYy sCaWYyy#it is him trying to explain - urging them to listen - what this relationship means to him#he is now terrified FOR THEM in addition to his own fears. afraid of burdening them with his own passing#just as he is afraid of mourning rook in turn#his very core fear will always tie back to death#him trying to woo rook during the beginning stages of their relationship is merely him testing the waters#seeing if the feeling is indeed reciprocated. you know. as a man in his age and with his intellect would#‘love’ isn’t the elephant in the room here#it speaks#fandom critical#veilguard spoilers

SEVERELY obsessed with the character insight here. so obsessed that i typed a long-ass post of analysis, in which i support the argument that volo really isn’t a complete sociopath, he’s just a big emotional short-sighted hypocrite.
as we know, volo’s endgame goal is to subjugate arceus and recreate the world from scratch, implicitly so that whatever pain and heartbreak he’s experienced/witnessed no longer exists. this is of course an intentional parallel to cyrus’s desire to create a world without spirit in response to the emotional pain he experienced in his childhood. while we do not have a concrete explanation on what exactly the painful events volo experienced were like we do with cyrus, he talks about them enough that it’s clear that they impacted him significantly. that is to say i think he’s expressing his thoughts and feelings sincerely when he brings the topic up, he isn’t lying or trying to misdirect you in any way in regards to that.
i bring this up because a big portion of cyrus’s character that to this day flies over many fans’ heads is that he is defined by ironies and hypocrisies. he wishes for a world devoid of any emotions specifically because he is dominated by them—he confesses as much during his rant in the distortion world:
cyrus also famously has a crobat on his team, which evolves through high friendship, despite his steadfast belief that spirit—of which friendship is undoubtedly a part—is an ugly, vague, incomplete thing. in addition to this, usum all but explicitly confirms that the journal of a child who befriended a rotom was written by him. so, in conclusion, cyrus has a heart and is easily swayed by good emotions as well as bad.
so now we come to volo’s new dialogues in pokemon masters. i think that they have made it clearer that like cyrus’s emotional actions, his obsessions with history & preserving memories through photographs are meant to be genuine hypocrisy on his part, rather than intentional obfuscation of intent. think about it—a man who’s dominated by curiosity & love for history also claims to want to remake the world so utterly that all of that history is rendered completely destroyed. yet even in the depths of his post-defeat breakdown he still maintains that defining curiosity of his:
and now i ask, what is curiosity, if not an expression of love for the world around you? despite claiming to want to destroy the current world and all evidence of its existence, volo also still wants to know absolutely everything about it, past and present. it’s inherently contradictory. and this brings me to the recurring themes in his pokemas dialogue: how he not only appreciates photographs as a way to create a tangible record of history, but as a way “to capture and isolate the best moments”. those happy moments worth holding onto and looking back on in the future. see also the photograph of him and togepi in the original game, never commented on, taken for no apparent reason other than the fun of it—or more specifically, as these dialogues suggest, to isolate that moment in time in a tangible form. that is an act of love and of sentiment.
so, what’s the conclusion i’m getting at here? well, because of the ambiguity of his character in the base game. i’ve seen that volo is often interpreted as being a manipulative sociopath motivated solely by his desire for control. everything he does before the postgame is entirely a lie, absolutely none of the facade was genuine, etc. and don’t get me wrong, he is a control freak with a god complex! he does railroad the player into doing what he wants! he is not honest and he is not a good person. but, i think there is very much an intentional irony to him the same way there is with cyrus, in that his road to hell was paved with good intentions. he has the capacity for genuine kindness and i personally believe that his descent into villainy was spurred entirely by an earnest appreciation for the world around him and a desire to eliminate suffering.
as a closing statement, i want to bring up a quote from volo himself regarding calaba of the pearl clan:
i don’t think it’s that volo feels nothing for his pokemon or for the people around him—rather, i think he simply loves the world very, very much.

a/n i don't even feel the need to justify my taste in evil men anymore lmao, here's a drabble as i try to figure homelander's 'voice' :))
Summary: Homelander begins to reflect on your sort of friendship when you come over to watch a scary movie.
Warnings/info: me writing for a character for the first time so pls be nice
----
Humanity's connection to fear has always been a subject of fleeting interest to him, a concept that's only occasionally managed to become more than a shift of hormones and heart rate.
Now, though, with your legs pulled beneath you on his couch, body angled towards him, yet eyes still glued to the screen, Homelander can't believe he's never given this kind of adrenaline a second thought.
"You okay?"
The question seems to bring you back, your head turning towards him. "Yeah." What the response lacks in certainty, it makes up for in determination. He can see it in your soft nod, in the way your fingers press into your knees.
The nerves you're doing your very best to hide are so different from your usual demeanor. An investigative journalist who's always running headfirst into danger, who never lets fear of retaliation get in the way of your writing, can't get through a scary movie. It's such a prevalent dichotomy, Homelander has to work at keeping himself neutral, at remaining focused on what's in front of--
"Stop," you mumble, the word far from harsh.
He lifts a shoulder in a partial shrug without removing his arm from the back of the couch. "Stop what?"
You tilt your chin downwards, your lips pulled into the start of a pout as you attempt a glare. The expression is so particularly you, it briefly seizes some remote, unnamed aspect of his being that lives deep inside of his chest. "Stop making fun of me--I told you, horror movies make me so jumpy, none of my other friends will watch them with me anymore."
Other friends. The reminder of the others that get to be recipients of your kind smiles and reassuring glances is usually enough to taint his mood, but there's a warmth to the phrase that redeems the sentiment entirely. He's more than a friend, he's the only one that's here for you.
Homelander straightens slightly, arm shifting forward until his fingertips are against your shoulder. For the briefest second, there's an increase in your general tension, a stillness that doesn't suit you. The implication of tension digs at him--he's been this close to you before, closer even.
Before the thought of rejection can fully latch onto him, you're easing, spine relaxing against the couch's cushioning. The new position is enough encouragement for him to continue, his palm coming to rest against the fabric of your shirt, the loose collar letting the side of his hand feel the warmth of your bare collarbone.
He remains steady, leaning into what he knows as he offers you one of his more subtle, yet openly heroic smiles. It's the kind of look he'd use to comfort an almost-victim, the gentle curve of his lips a silent promise. I'm here. You're okay now.
You watch him in that way of yours--eyebrows drawn together and eyes bright yet not exactly admiring in the way that he's accustomed to. His inability to understand that particular look is what drew him to you in the first place.
"I'm not making fun of you," he says, voice leaving no room for argument, "I'm just making sure you're okay. It's why you wanted to watch this with me, right?"
It's not so much an exaggeration as it is a stretching of context. You had mentioned wanting to watch the movie, but not loving the idea of watching it by yourself. You hadn't meant anything by mentioning it during your coffee shop catch up, you never do. Your words are usually free of both probing and placating subtext.
"I wanted to watch this with you because we're friends." There's a genuineness to the correction that jabs at him. He has no response, but you don't seem to mind the silence.
A high pitched scream and a flash of color has your attention drifting towards the screen. Your adrenaline spikes, a fact you attempt to dismiss by leaning into his touch. "It's nice of you to check in, though."
The acceptance leaves him feeling a little warmer than he did a moment ago. You have a way of doing that. "It's what I'm here for."
You look away from the screen, the corner of your mouth tugging itself upwards. "All in a day's work for America's favorite hero."
"This is top priority."
You let out a breath that feels like more of a laugh. "I feel important."
The movie steals your focus, a fact that a part of Homelander is grateful for. You're too distracted to think of what contemplating your value might do to him. He swallows, a pointed dismissal of the uncomfortable feelings probing at his chest.
You move slowly, legs straightening and feet finding the floor. Before Homelander can overthink the changes, you lean towards him, your head coming to rest against his shoulder.

Okay my intent here is not to start drama in the rqg fandom in 2024 because I love this community and frankly it's not that deep, but there's something I just wanna talk about for a sec.
I've seen the sentiment around lately that the party is unnecessarily cruel to Wilde - from the Prague arc all the way up to Damascus or even Japan - and that this specifically contributes to Wilde's guardedness and unwillingness to be emotionally open with the party throughout the show. That he goes "oh, you want me to be the snarky punching bag with no feelings? Then that's what I'll be."
While this is a sentiment I generally agree with, I take some issue with the idea that the party - Grizzop specifically - is mean to Wilde for "no reason".
Grizzop has a very good reason to dislike being around Wilde, which he expresses on numerous occasions - Wilde's lack of respect for Grizzop's personhood and his use of condescending and demeaning language.
While Wilde never actually calls Grizzop "It" like he'd later claim (just a result of long gaps between sessions and Ben being a human being with imperfect memory), he does call him "this one" and generally treat him in a dismissive and condescending way, even after being told to stop numerous times.
Now, I've seen the argument that this is kind of just how Wilde talks to everyone. That's just who he is, especially in earlier arcs. This isn't entirely untrue, but that doesn't change the fact that like... Grizzop is a goblin (in the RQGverse a minority race with a history of oppression), who has been the target of this kind of language and attitude from humans his entire life. He's entirely warranted in being upset at being treated this way. Wilde doesn't ever really give Grizzop any reason to like him, and frankly Grizzop doesn't owe Wilde jack shit.
Another scenario is the iconic moment where Grizzop punches Wilde in the dick. I made a post about this a couple days ago while Very High and then forgot to delete it in the morning so it's just up now. But I've seen a couple comments (on the post and elsewhere) being like "poor Wilde :(" or "he didn't deserve that" and like... He kinda did? He was being antagonistic and negging Sasha, deliberately trying to make her feel worse about her upcoming Risky Medical Procedure. Even if it was just him being silly that's still a pretty shitty thing to do. You can argue that Grizzop went overboard with the physical violence, but arguing that it wasn't at all warranted doesn't make sense to me.
I love Wilde as much as the next rqg fan. He's probably my favourite character, maybe behind Sasha. But in order to appreciate the extent of his character growth it's important to recognize situations where yeah, he was being shitty and antagonistic.
And, even in a scenario as silly and fantastical as this, I still think it's important to not brush off the experiences of a marginalized person who says they're a target of discriminatory language, even if the perpetrator is someone you like. Wilde is white, and charming, and wealthy, and in a position of power over Grizzop as his handler and as a government representative. He is not the victim in this situation.
Again, very much not looking to start shit here, especially because "aw, poor Wilde :(" is definitely a thought I've had while listening to early RQG. This is just something I've been thinking about a lot during my current relisten and wanted to share with you guys.

i was watching meeseeks and destroy today and in the beginning of the episode when morty tells rick that he's done with their adventures i couldn't help but remember a similar situation with evil morty and his rick in the flashback at the beginning of unmortricken and i think its very notable to see the difference between the two scenes:
(please forgive the shitty pictures, theyre taken straight from my laptop 😭. blue is morty prime and rick c-137 and orange is evil rick and morty)
both scenes start with the mortys having an objection about the adventures
"Wow, another adventure where I went up an ass."
"I just killed my family! I dont care what they were."
and both ricks act generally dismissive about it, although evil rick does go for more of a kind of mocking approach while c-137 is just plain dismissive, almost distracted kind of like hes not really paying attention to what morty is saying
"Oh, good, are we having this fight again?" Let me guess, you're gonna leave or throw a sulking fit?"
"I don't know, Morty. Some people would pay top dollar for that kind of breakthrough."
dismissive at first (like i've repeated 3 times already, sorry i cant think of another word 😭), but his face changes when he realises morty's being fr
evil morty's response is, justifiably, to insult his rick, but morty primes response is not meant to be insulting, and its kinda more telling rick how he feels (traumatised) and showing rick his frustration with their adventures as they are
"You think you know everything, Rick, but you're basically just a giant 8-year old." (accurate and also not the only time evil morty has expressed this sentiment)
"You know what, Rick? Thats it! I'm done with these insane adventures! That was really traumatising! I quit! I'm out!"
It's also notable that morty prime is the one who says he's done with ricks stuff, while evil rick is the one who challenges morty to leave
"I'm not doing this anymore! Either you're in or you're out, Morty. I'm tired of you weaponising this half-assed threat. You want out, then fucking quit!"
so evil rick's reaction to morty complaining is to challenge him to leave, but, while initially dismissive, as soon as c-137 realises morty's serious, he immediately tries to stop him
"Woah, woah, woah! Come on, Morty, don't be like that. The universe is a crazy, chaotic place."
look at him, he's so worried about morty leaving
and lastly, evil morty agrees and apologises (ofc we know it isnt sincere, but still, he doesn't even try to get his rick to understand his perspective because he likely never has before), while morty prime doesn't back down and stands his ground
"You know what, you're right. Sorry to be such a high-maintenance Morty. Why don't i get you a drink?"
"You're the one that's crazy and chaotic! Adventures are supposed to be simple and fun."
evil morty then goes on to kill hundreds or thousands of ricks and torture their morties and do a bunch more unspeakable shit, all to escape his rick and the cfc, while rick c-137 and morty prime continue to argue for a little bit longer, but eventually come to a decision together and go on the very first Morty Adventure (which is definitely quite a rocky road, but establishes morty being allowed to pick some of their adventures, which is what he wanted)
also very notable is when evil rick starts shouting and leans into evil morty's space, morty flinches and falls back, shielding himself with his arm (which is something i didnt actually notice initially but that @/fandomwe1rd0 pointed out in this post right here) and he makes a small noise that sounds like one of fear (a video of the scene is in the post i just linked if you want to take a closer look at the interaction). at no point during c-137 and morty prime's little argument does morty flinch/seem afraid of rick physically harming him, granted c-137 didnt really yell at him like evil rick did, but evil morty flinches away when rick leans towards him, not when he starts yelling, and c-137 doesnt just lean towards morty, he actually puts his hands on his shoulders, actually touching him, and morty seems in now way deterred or afraid.
apologies for any spelling mistakes its 2am lol, i hope this made any sense at all! :)

Hello! I don’t disagree with anything from your post about how Aziraphale emotionally manipulated Crowley during the final fifteen. I just have a few questions on your opinion on the whole situation regarding Aziraphale.
I do agree that he may have said some of the sentences at the end of the intentionally to try and get Crowley to come back with him, and undermines Crowley with some of it as well, But I think that some of what he says at the beginning of what you were looking at come from a place of what he truly does want for both of them. The ‘I need you’ and ‘we can be together’ I have always felt are completely genuine, and coming from a place of want/fear. Do you think that these were said to try and manipulate Crowley at an unconscious level, or from a place of want and/or fear? To repeat, I don’t want to come off mean at all, I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said previously, and I do agree that the words that I mentioned were a part of the emotional manipulation. I’m sorry if you mentioned the answer to this before! Have a good rest of your day!
You're all good, don't worry!
Do you think that these were said to try and manipulate Crowley at an unconscious level, or from a place of want and/or fear?
The fun part is that we don't have to choose one or the other because it can be—and in my opinion is—both.
Aziraphale very much does need Crowley, he has been using him as his crutch in dangerous situations since the very beginning. Everything that he tells him during their argument is something he truly believes in one way or another, but he isn't blindly following his thoughts and opinions. He knows that many parts of his moral ideology are hurtful towards Crowley or factually incorrect, but he clings to them regardless because it's the most comfortable position for him to be in.
This puts him in a position where he can choose what he wants to say and how he wants to say it. Since he wants to manipulate Crowley into returning to heaven with him, he voices emotions and thoughts he'd otherwise keep quiet.
I need you—he does need him, but the fact that he is choosing to say it in this specific moment in that specific tone is a clear attempt at manipulation. Aziraphale KNOWS Crowley is a nervous wreck when it comes to his safety, so that is where he tries to get hm. Make him scared enough for Aziraphale's well-being and he will tear himself to pieces to save him; it has worked in the past, and he expects it to work now.
When it doesn't, he resorts to "I don't think you understand what I'm offering you" and then to silent treatment & emotional rejection.
If you are incredibly familiar with another person, you know their weak points and buttons and how to exploit & press them. For example, let's say you're having an argument with a friend or partner and you know you made a mistake and are in the wrong.
However, you feel ashamed and embarrassed, you get defensive and know that if you were to openly express how bad you are feeling right now, they would try to appease you instead because that's one of their weaknesses; whenever someone else is upset, they prioritize them over themselves.
So what do you do?
Telling them that you feel bad would be the truth and you do want their comfort, but would it be fair?´Would it show respect for who they are and the relationship you have with them? Or are you going to actively emotionally manipulate them because you can and are uncomfortable?
Aziraphale voicing all of those sentiments is disrespecting Crowley and their relationship because he is 100% aware of the impact. It is not nice, it's not fair, it's mean and unkind, it borders on cruel.
Sometimes you have to swallow your emotions and discomfort and be emotionally mature. Sometimes you are simply in the wrong and "compromising" means growing the fuck up and taking responsibility for you mistakes. You can always deal with your shit later once everything has calmed down instead of putting your comfort above your friend's well-being.
I hope this answered your question, feel free to ask for clarification if needed; have a good day!

AFTERMATH. October 2023. Featuring Yoon Mingeun, Lee Jaeseop. 0.8k.
“Was it worth it?” Jaeseop asks. He sits on Mingeun’s couch, sipping beer from a coffee mug, while the end of the Shooting Stars finale plays on the TV. A Hite Extra Cold can sits on the floor next to him.
Mingeun stands in the doorway between the living room and the small hall that leads to his room. He didn’t watch it. He’s lived through it once and lost, and that’s much more than enough for him. “You don’t live here,” he says bluntly.
Jaeseop gives him a once over with his gaze, probably taking in his bed head and his Among Us t-shirt and his basketball shorts. “Haksu let me borrow the spare key.”
Mingeun is going to kill him.
On second thought, he’s going to kill both of them. The ferocity of the thought surprises him with its violence. He takes an involuntary step back towards the safety of his bedroom, flexing his fingers and hiding his hands behind his back before he acts on impulse. He has to stop skipping his therapy appointments.
Jaeseop takes his actions as something else. “I won’t bite. You know that,” he says, holding his mug in two hands and taking another small sip. “I will say I told you so.”
If it was Andrew telling him that or Haksu telling him that, Mingeun doesn’t think he’d be so upset. That’s what he expects from them. He pushes them and they push him back. But Jaeseop is supposed to be his friend, his ally. And sure, he was against Mingeun’s participation from the beginning. Mingeun had been so certain he would come around. He wonders if he could have done something different—he could have won—and maybe Jaeseop wouldn’t be acting like this.
“It’s for the better,” Jaeseop continues, seemingly oblivious to Mingeun plotting his death in the corner. “Do you hate us to the point where you’d rather be in a group called Starzie?”
Mingeun can hear echoes of Andrew in that question: it’s patronizing and almost rhetorical. He fucking hates it. “I don’t hate you.”
He means it. He’s had his disgreements with everyone else, but he’s never hated Jaeseop. He owes him his career—if not his life.
Jaeseop clearly expects more from him, so he adds, “I like Fable.” Also not a lie. Two for two. Mingeun’s proud of himself. If Jaeseop watched the whole show, he would know that too. Mingeun took every opportunity he had to promote the group. It was very much a part of the image he wanted to show, but he rarely had to exaggerate it.
His words are a poor showing by any metric, but Jaeseop doesn’t comment on it. He poses another question instead. “Then why did you go?”
“I wanted to,” Mingeun sullenly, though the words are inadequate in explaining his true feelings. He did want to go. He’s just incapable of explaining how much. He felt like if he didn’t leap at the opportunity, he’d never come across anything like it ever again. He felt like if he let it pass him by, he’d regret it for the rest of his life.
“It doesn’t matter,” he says. “I’ve already done it. It was good for me. When was the last time you saw an article demanding I leave the group to save face?”
“Three years ago.” Clearly, he doesn’t keep up with the news, because Mingeun’s seen that sentiment plastered all over the Internet a few months ago, when Shooting Stars first began to air.
“Try April.”
Jaeseop’s lips are pressed into a thin line, an expression he wears when he knows he’s losing an argument. He changes the topic abruptly. “It’s good that it’s over. You need to start thinking about what’s next.”
He pauses, briefly, swirling his cup in circles. Mingeun stands, rooted to the spot, unsure of what he’s going to say.
“My uncle is going to speak to you about extending your contract soon,” Jaeseop says. “If there’s anything that will satiate you for another year and a half, you should ask for it then.”
Mingeun nods mutely. He’s been so busy he hasn’t had the time to think about how their contracts are nearly up. He also has to admit that he’s forgotten that contracts pause during military service, because it’s not something that affects him.
A soda ad blares on TV in the background as he stands there silently. He’ll have to think about it. He always has wants. It’s a matter of whether or not Taein can fulfill them.
Jaeseop drains the rest of his drink and picks the can up off the floor. “Think about it. Don’t squander the opportunity.”
His words make Mingeun think he isn't nearly as disapproving as he seems to be. Mingeun gives another silent nod.
He expects Jaeseop to leave, but all he does is settle further into the couch to watch whatever drama is airing next. Mingeun leaves him to it, retreating back to the sanctuary of his bedroom to think about what he wants from Taein.

Note: This sat unfinished for months because my phone hates it when I try to write fan fiction during breaks in my college classes. I published it because it would not let me save it as a draft, and I wanted to throw myself off a bridge because it happened again. I appreciate you guys so much; thank you for your patience. Apologies for the double-publishing notifications in the same post. AGAIN. I also apologize for the long ass wait.
══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══
It was the night Mirabel was to receive her gift; you were sitting even though everyone was standing; everyone had insisted that you be in a chair even though it was Mirabel's big night. Everyone wanted to ensure you were comfortable enough to enjoy the evening with your niece and husband. Being pregnant had its advantages, but you still felt a little bad as your tiny niece walked by, a nervous expression on her face as she headed towards the magic door that awaited her at the top of the stairs. Your husband was just nervous; he had been very observant of Mirabel over the past few days, wanting to ensure his niece was okay and that the family would still love her no matter her gift.
Bruno gently placed his hand on your shoulder as Mirabel ascended the stairs, and you put your hand over his in return, trying to relax his nerves; however, when Mirabel placed her hand on that door, it was something no one would ever forget. The door faded away, and everyone was in shock; Mirabel had not received a gift; you still loved her, but this was going to be traumatic for the entire family, knowing how Abuela would treat her if anything negative were to happen to the house or family would happen. After the failed ceremony, abuela asked Bruno to make a prediction out of concern. In Bruno's cave, you watched as your husband made a prediction. When he showed it to you, you understood why Mirabel had no gift, but Abuela didn't. It turned into an argument between Bruno and his mother, and after that, he disappeared.
══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══
A month later, you gave birth to twins and girls. Luciana and Natalia looked identical to one parent each; Luci looked much like you, and Natalia looked much like her father. Your husband's disappearance hit you a lot harder that day, and you will never forget the feeling of being alone during something he should have been there for. Your family was kind enough to care for your babies when you couldn't, the exhaustion hitting your body along with heavy pangs of grief. The immense loneliness you felt looking at your daughters and knowing that they would never see their father, he wouldn't be there to receive their gifts, he wouldn't be there to witness their first steps, none of the milestones that he should be there for.
Having no gift made you feel useless to the family and that they were caring for you out of pity; while Julieta's food may have healed the physical damages of childbirth, the mental anguish of not having a husband and being gift-less in a family of magical gifts made you feel lonely. At least Augustin and Felix could share that sentiment, as will Mirabel when she is older. However, the loneliness would not fade for many years, and you would focus solely on your children as they grew, no matter how much it pained you that your husband was not there with you.
══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══
As time passed, Pepa had another son, and tonight was his gifting ceremony; Antonio is 5 years younger than your girls; everyone was excited to see a new gift arrive during the ceremony later in the evening while everyone was taking the time to prepare Casita for all the guests that would be joining us for the party. Luciana's gift was simple and really only helped during the winter and at night; she had the gift of fire; while Natalia could put people to sleep, she would often spend her evenings helping insomniacs and parents. You weren't excited about a new gift; it was just another reminder of your husband's disappearance since no one talked about him, and if they did, it was negative. You stayed in your room that evening, watching everyone enjoy themselves. After Bruno's disappearance, you were only in a few family photos by choice; it felt awkward.
You watched Mirabel guide Antonio to the door before stepping off, knowing how she felt about the gifting ceremonies since hers didn't pan out as planned. You also watched her leave the celebrations with a solemn look on her face. You understood why she was upset; she didn't feel like she belonged. You watched a piece of the shingling fall from Casita, and as Mirabel picked it up, she sliced her hand. You frowned; the house falling apart wasn't normal, but even if that worried you, there was the feeling that you knew Mirabel would figure out how to fix it, and even if she couldn't, she'd still do her best to help her family because she loves them just as much as you do.

Days after the ceremony, you're rushing your daughters out of a collapsing casita, protecting them with your body as you ran with them after Mirabel and Abuela had a huge fight. You hugged your girls tightly as Casita collapsed; as the dust settled, you slowly let go, stood up, and ran in, worried about your niece. You weren't the only one, but as you dug through, everyone began to worry. "MIRABEL!!!" The shouts of the family echoed in the surrounding jungle; you sat to take a break and noticed Abuela was nowhere to be seen. At that point, you figured Abuela knew exactly where Mirabel had wandered off to, and you suddenly felt relief knowing that your niece would be okay.
You picked up your head at the sound of a horse galloping and smiled brightly with the rest of your family as Mirabel and Abuela returned, seeming to have mended their relationship. You weren't expecting to see your husband sitting behind them nervously. As they got off, he first apologized to his sisters. When you heard Dolores say that he never actually left, you began to tear up and cover your mouth as he approached you, the expression on his face showing deep regret, looking for forgiveness.
"Y/n, Amor, I don't think there is anything that I could say; not even a sorry could replace the time you spent alone because I decided to hide from the family; I didn't get to hug my daughters when they took their first steps nor did I get to congratulate their gifts with everyone, and I should have been their next to you the entire time. Even if I never stopped loving you, you still had to go through everything alone, and no amount of words could fix that. Nothing I say will change the fact that my daughters never got to know their father; I can only begin to dream for your forgiveness, and I understand if you are still mad at me." Tears welled in your eyes as Bruno spoke. You had missed him so much and were glad he was back; you were happy that your daughters could finally meet their father. You hugged him tightly and began crying from happiness and relief.
Your daughters soon noticed that you were crying and came over to comfort you, only to be confused that you were hugging a man who looked like Abuela and Tia Julieta. You smiled softly at your daughters and introduced them to their father. "Natalia, Luci, this is Bruno Madrigal; he's your father." In an instant, their eyes lit up like light bulbs, and they tackled his legs, asking an obnoxious amount of questions, making you smile as you sneaked up behind them to pick them up and give them a big up, with Bruno joining in.
After the brief reunion, everyone began to work; there was no point in catching up if there was no house to catch up in. Everyone chipped in to rebuild Casita, and in time, the house was rebuilt; Dolores finally got to talk to Mariano, Isabella, and Mirabel got along, and the romance between you and Bruno was quickly rekindled. As Mirabel placed the doorknob, the house lit up, and the magic returned Casitato Casita, greeting everyone warmly as everyone happily celebrated. Everyone squeezed in for a family photo, and you smiled at Bruno so brightly that it was like you were never separated. "I love you, Bruno Madrigal." You kissed him softly, and he kissed back with care and love." And I love you, Y/n Madrigal."

Opinion: No one deserves to be raped—not even Larry Nassar
By Lovisa Stannow Jan. 28, 2018
It is a sadly predictable facet of American life that whenever a high-profile rape sentence is handed down, the first instinct of many people is not to celebrate the triumph of justice or applaud the courage of survivors. Instead, their response is to express a desire for the perpetrator to be sexually assaulted in prison.
This revenge-rape fantasy was on full display after former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar was convicted of sexual assault. The shocking part, however, is that it was Rosemarie Aquilina, the judge in Nassar’s case, who explicitly promoted this form of vigilante justice.
During sentencing, Aquilina stated that if the Constitution did not forbid cruel and unusual punishment, she “would allow some or many people to do to him what he did to others.”
In some ways, of course, the sentiments of the judge and legions of like-minded internet commenters are understandable. No person, even a judge, can be expected to remain unmoved by Nassar’s monstrous behavior toward hundreds of young women, and to the institutional indifference that allowed his abuse to continue as long as it did.
And yet, by sharing her hope that Nassar be raped in prison, Aquilina did more than breach judicial ethics. She undermined the very fight against sexual violence that she purports to champion—and utterly failed the young women whose voices she was trying to elevate.
Rape apologists have long drawn distinctions between people who deserve to be assaulted and those who do not. For centuries, rape victims have been told that they had it coming because of what they wore, or how much they drank or because of their sexual orientation. These same arguments are made about people in prison. “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time,” as the saying goes, implying that you deserve—and should expect—to be abused while in the government’s custody.
Aquilinia’s defenders have pointed out that Nassar is a special case. This is true: The overwhelming majority of prisoners in America are not serial rapists of young girls, not to mention Olympic heroes. What’s the harm in carving out an exception for a hideous person like Nassar?
The obvious answer is that rape is wrong and unacceptable. Always. Period. Sexual violence against any person, in any setting, makes all of us unsafe.
Imagine if corrections officials responsible for Nassar’s custody were to take the judge at her word and “allow some or many people to do to him what he did to others.” Does Aquilina really believe that a detention facility that condones the gang rape of one inmate would succeed at protecting others whose crimes were less severe?
Prisons where “bad” people get raped tend to be places where “good” people get raped, too.
You cannot condemn rape in one breath and then endorse it in the next. To do so is to promote the idea that there are places in the world where sexual abuse is OK, even encouraged.
Rape is never OK—not when the victims are young girls and not when they are hardened criminals. Not even when it’s Larry Nassar.

Review of Ecce Homo by Friedrich Nietzsche
A silly read for sure. This book was Nietzsche’s last before he fully went mad, and that is evident in his self confidence and the general ridiculous nature of this endeavor. He goes from claiming that he never reads reviews of his books to discussing, in detail, reviews that he read of his books. He spends pages and pages hating on Germans and women in a way that is, dare I say, cunty as fuck. This book was kinda about nothing except how excellent he is so its very easy to take it all with a grain of salt.
That being said, there were plenty of beautifully written or incredibly well said lines.
“Knowledge, saying ‘yes’ to reality, is just as nevessary for the strong as cowardice and the flight from reality — the ‘ideal’ — is for the weak, who are inspired by weakness.” I think this is such a great sentiment espeically in regards to interpersonal relationships and our relationships with ourselves. I don’t think striving for ideals in society is wrong, but when we are constantly expecting “ideal” versions of ourselves and others, we will often fall flat on our faces and get hurt. Bettering oneself certainly involves facing our own realities and taking steps from there. Too often, people want to “better” themsleves and don’t really do anything and then go “well I worked on myself and now I’m perfect and beyond reproach”
He also wrote “I am by far the most awful human being that ever lived. However, that does not mean I will not also be the kindest,” which I also love because I think it just speaks to the whole “we contain multitudes” cliche. We try to create the best version of ourselves, when, in reality, we are a whole lotta things all at once. To deny our jealousy, sloth, wrath, gluttony, pride, etc, is to deny parts of oursleves that all of us have. Its ok to have those things, and in fact you’re probably better off it you spend less time repressing them and more time analyzing how they impact you and the people around you (not to get all Jungian.)
Where I seriously disagree with him is his belief that everyone who acts for the greater good of society is only running society into ruin. He really believes that self importance and full surrender to the ego is the way to live the happiest and most unbothered life. Obviously, he was probably really shitty and annoying to be around with that mentality. I’ve met people who think that way and really all they do is make everyone else’s lives worse and I don’t really think they make their lives much better by doing so.
The introduction made a really interesting comment that his work is often associated with right-wing Nazism, but that is not really the full picture. He in fact openly despised the Nazis, but his main editor during his many periods of prolonged illness and madness was his sister, a woman who was married to a Nazi. I think its important to view his work through that lens and with that knowledge. That certainly doesn’t absolve him of all of the sentiments expressed in the book, but certainly some of them were warped by outside forces and we will never really know his exact wording on certain topics. Also, he was batshit insane and it was Germany in the 19th century, I didn’t go into the book expecting a woke icon and it is pretty easy to push his discussions of women aside and focus on the philosophy because, like I said, he mostly rambles anyway at least in this book there’s no strong argument of his thesis that uses any problematic evidence if that makes sense. Its not like “ my thesis and all of these examples of how women prove my point”. Its like “my thesis. Also women and germans fucking suck have you ever thought about that”
I also struggle with the fact that I can’t speak and read every single language. I read a version translated into English and I know I’ll never FULLY get it and read it as it was written unless I read the German.

We accept here on this blog that Taylor wasn’t pining away for Matty Healy for 10 years, that Cardigan and other folkmore songs are not about him though she heavily implies so on multiple songs on TTPD (it’s not Maylors coming up with stuff out of nowhere, she quite literally in CoSoSoM says that she went through lovers and eras ‘ALL to outrun’ her ‘desertion’ of him). She also expresses these sentiments very literally and on multiple songs at that and across multiple albums if we again take what she says truthfully, but we acknowledge that’s probably not reflective of what her actual reality was and that she’s just a songwriter being dramatic. But suddenly she’s not a songwriter being dramatic when it comes to things she said about Joe? Random little lines about her being suspicious other people want him, lines about things said during arguments etc ARE fully accurate representations of how she felt for 6 years? Because if that’s true, then what does it even matter considering that she was carrying a torch for another guy the entire time and only dated Calvin, Tom and even Joe to try and get over him? Or at least, that’s what taking the things she says in song to heart would imply because again she LITERALLY wrote that she did that.
I literally don’t understand what you’re saying here. Obviously she didn’t feel jealous every single minute of every single day for six and a half years but this clearly kept being an issue for her for six and a half years? The other issues she had with him, again starting with Rep and ending with TTPD, were his moodiness/stressy depressiness and him pushing her away when he gets all stressy depressied, lack of clear communication around issues, her worrying about him getting over it and peacing tf out, and her concern around whether or not he could handle being with Taylor Swift™️ - obviously she didn’t focus on those every minute of every day but yes she felt those feelings over a period of six years and a half years? At first the good - which she also wrote about - the physical and emotional and intellectual connection, his patience, his humor, day to day compatibility - outweighed the bad. Then she started to focus more on the bad. Pretty standard stuff. Since the bad she mentions at the end was pretty much what she said at the beginning, seems like their biggest problem was not working on anything idk? I’m not them.
as for Matty, I’ve said many times that I’m sure it felt fated and shit when she said that stuff like yes in that moment it felt like every single decision and moment had led them to each other and it was the most romantic love story of all time for her in that moment. The fact that songs they’d written before they’d even met each other perfectly aligned with their 2.0 love story must’ve legit felt fated. It didn’t work out and she prob doesn’t feel that way anymore but obviously she felt that way in the moment? Justifiably? If my ex from 10 years ago came back into my life and we started reconnecting like I too would be all over finding all the clues we’d been destined for one another from the beginning (I hate even putting that out into the world, may the universe protect me from such horrible things and may no ex of mine ever work with one of my besties and confuse me amen 🙏🏼)???
like I really don’t understand what you’re saying. Are you saying she wasn’t jealous with Joe? Are you saying I’m saying she didn’t genuinely feel shit for Matty? (She did lol she wrote a whole ass Magnum Opus dedicated to the man). I’m so confused???

YES. YES. YES.
SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT.
I noticed this pattern, too, especially in The Full Moon, during "When I See Him Tonight". I know many people found it funny, with Stolas' part being more sentimental and romantic, about setting both of them free and trying for a relationship, whereas Blitz's part is mainly... we gon fuck tonight, he he! We see this again in Apology Tour. How does he try to repair the argument between him and Stolas? Through sex. That's his immediate response to everything, as if it's almost instinctual.
At first glance, it might seem that Blitz only cares about sex and doesn't give a shit about Stolas as a person, but I personally think that it's because this is the only way he knows how to express his affection.
Blitz has a very disorganized attatchment. One moment he's desperately clinging to the people around him, begging them not to leave and the next he's cold, closed off and pushes away anyone that try to get too close. He is emotionally constipated and has a hard time admitting his feelings, mainky because he himself doesn't know what he is feeling most of the time. Like he himself said manyvtimes, he's not good with feelings. Sex is the only way in which he knows and is willing to show love. The explanations vould be many: he may think that is the only good thing he has to offer, like OP said; or it might be because through sex he can be affectionate and have some level of intimacy with the other person while at the same time keep it casual and make it seem like it's not that serious (aka ✨️commitment issues✨️).
He is hypersexual, not because he's a pervert (or at least not just because of that) but because his insecure attatchment type and trauma make it very hard for him to express his feelings in a healthy non-sexual manner AND because his own self-loathing has convinced him that there is no way anyone would be able to love him for who he is, no one would want him for anything else other than sex.
God, I love this character to bits, he is so interesting and messy, I wanna give him a hug and tell him everything is going to be ok :((
Here again, please bear me for another round.
You know how much Blitzo is obsessed with M&M relationship and how he wants to squeeze himself in there? Like how much he wants to fuck them?
I don’t think he is romantic towards them at all.
He also offered to fuck Fizz after they made up.
I believe that he thinks that the only way to maintain non family relationships is through sex. I believe that he thinks that’s the only thing he has to offer.
He loves ‘em.
He is just too fucked up.
#anyway#thanks fo coming to my TED Talk lmao :))#helluva boss#helluva boss blitz#blitz buckzo#blitzø

i might read John's showing up in Newport thing as a tiny bit less indicative of being Weird than you do... to me it seems sort of like, the sort of Grand Gesture impulsive thing you might do out of total desperation, especially if you consider they've been together a long time, John has been kind of repressing and hiding all his actual emotions about the situation so when he expresses them they come out in big bursts. Also, as far as we know, we never see him get input from anyone else about his relationship like friends etc so maybe its the sort of thing that makes sense in his head and its not like. Actually maybe this is not so good of an idea until he's already gone and done it
Thank you for the ask!! Love 2 read thoughts on this. And I see now after drafting this that you sent follow up ones too but i will go ahead publish this one first
I think my thoughts on that are. The Newport behavior makes sense as something to Think about doing... Many people think about things like that regardless of brainweirds. Winning an argument in the shower etc etc.
But actually doing it... especially when there are SO many steps to doing it. that is bonkers behavior. It isn't like, inherently mentally ill, like is that behavior someone without brainweirds would do—Almost certainly so. sometimes people do ridiculous things. Fully believe there are guys who do that kind of thing and would not get diagnosed with Weird.
But. and this is most important to my brainweirds headcanon. it is not something that seemed to line up with the rest of John's behavior. It came totally out of left field for viewers, everyone went nuts. Blog reviewers that commented on the plotline universally were like "this is deranged and came out of nowhere, what a guy". logistically it is just. ridiculous amount of effort to go to for a guy who is giving introverted and going with the flow in most of his screentime. like he absolutely snapped, he had been holding back and communicating extremely poorly and making assumptions that he could ignore it and it would blow over etc, but the Way that he snapped...
I think a normal person would leave it at the restaurant. well truly I think a normal person would not have gone there during the restaurant but everyone has times where emotions run high! but i think it would have been left there and then he would have had a whole argument in private when oscar got home...
instead he goes completely absolutely out of his way specifically to draw attention to how wonderful and fine his life could be without acknowledging oscar in it at all and that he can make himself more desirable than oscar and harm oscar's plans... there are So many things he could have been trying to demonstrate but all of them ultimately, I think, are intentionally to fuck with or hurt oscar or at least to Teach Him A Lesson...
oscar, someone he otherwise seems to be quite ride or die for and is extremely in love with and is i think trying to serve that With whatever bananas sentiment he is directly trying to express with his newport behavior. Like he cares deeply about oscar but is still taking ridiculous steps to get the upper hand.
That is the part that doesn't make much sense in the context of his previous & upcoming behavior and most of his s2 behavior as well, and makes more sense when you decide you want him to have brainweirds! imho.
because like I think the key thing to keep in mind when looking at My thoughts etc on my tumblr dot com blog is that I am reading John Adams as brainweird because I want to. And I want to because, a, it is historically fun, that family was chock full of brainweirds, but also because, b, I myself am brainweird. But i do think it enhances the text and is supported by his actions !!
Also something I think is Very interesting is that when I polled, most people seemed to think that John would Not feel anything resembling regret or embarrassment etc about his actions in Newport... which was not at All the lens I myself was looking through because of my own experiences. like when my brain makes me do crazy shit it is like. Absolutely cringe and bananas after it's over and i want to forget it ever happened. and in 1.09 when john is so sullen and pouty when Oscar teases him about flirting with gladys...
he's giving 1880s bipolar disorder. to me <3
#(to be clear normally my brainweird incidents are like. to use an extremely recent example.#''I can totally qualify for the Olympic trials in breaststroke and butterfly in 2028!#and to start I am going to sign up for every swim meet in every state that borders mine in the next 4 months!#This is a realistic achievable goal!''#Like i do not think I am out here pulling john adams relationship behaviors lmao but if i was unmedicated... watch out#john adams tag#johnoscar tag

GIHUN
As your father, Gihun is very protective to the point he might seem a little possessive. It's just that he doesn't wanna lose you. He often expresses his concerns about you hanging out with friends and it only gets worse when there are male friends in the group. Good luck trying to tell him you're already of age; he will just tell you that he's your father and has the final saying.
That being said, it's often implied that he is the only man you need in your life. He tries so hard to be your everything, even working late night hours to pay for your studies or whatever is going on in your life — he is not very good at keeping track anyways, but he means it when he says he will do anything for you.
Gihun is the one to take the first step. Because of the past, he often chases alcohol to help ease the emotional pain. Sometimes, you are not in the mood to deal with his vices so you protect yourself from it.
The more he tries to pull you in, even accusing you of leaving him for your male friends, the more you scream at him because of mother. You know better than to bring her up in heated arguments, but sometimes you are so done with everything that you get careless around others. Mentions of your mother always stirs up something inside father, that way, he ends up telling you to shut up when you hold it against him — but since he is so damn disrespectful, you don't.
So, the only way he finds to shut you up during the heated argument and crude sentiments is by pressing his lips against yours. He was so wasted you could've pushed him off with ease. However, it was your first kiss in ages and you didn't really want it to end. Despite the sour taste of alcohol in his tongue, you felt truly loved as his body caged yours and his arms kept you still. After he pulls away, you brush it off as an emotional baggage you didn't want to go through. Probably Gihun had repressed many feelings over the years and it all came back at once, resulting in this.
He brings up the matter eventually and apologizes for his behavior. He might even promise to stay away from alcohol and you know, however, that all of the unspoken secrets will drag him down once again. Except that now you make an effort to be there for your father.
He doesn't shy away when you take the first step towards kissing him when he is a tiny bit sad, even though his moral consciousness gets shaky by that. All of the thoughts about you take over his mind and he drops his energetic act, leaning towards a more serious and melancholic one. It's only after you share your first night together that he realizes he's already knee-deep into it and can't turn back now.
Gihun enjoys cockwarming and it soon becomes part of your routine. While you're asleep and softly snoring beside him, he tries to fight the urge to pound into you because there is no way you could consent to this while asleep. Although, he can't help but pound into you carefully as to not awake you, but he never goes much further than that.
SANGWOO
As a father, he is very possessive of you, part of it being his arrogance seeping through, causing him to act like he knows what is best for you better than anyone else.
You are the one to take the first step. Dad wouldn't let you see boys as he got easily jealous of his precious daughter. So, the only way to change things was to relieve all of the buried feelings and desires with him. Oh, such a temper you have… You did take after your father after all.
Sangwoo is taken aback when he feels your soft lips moving against his. And yet, he experiments with you anyway. He tests the water by holding your waist, his fingers leaving light touches on your skin. Then, he opens his mouth just a little to deepen the kiss. In a second, he has you whimpering and he knows exactly what you want — except he won't give it to you so easily.
His tongue is gentle, even freeing the butterflies in your stomach. Your attempts of moving your hips against your dad's lap while searching for friction were futile as his strong grip on your hips prevented you from doing so by holding you in place. Even with your whines, he was still calm despite the evidence of mutual desire.
Then, he takes you to bed. Sangwoo takes his time with you, enjoying how you gave in to his touches out of free will. When his tongue came in contact with your folds, it was a pleasant contrast of temperature — warm from his mouth and cold from you being exposed for too long. One of the things that really stuck with you during the time dad was eating you out was seeing the thread of saliva and wetness connecting your cunt and dad's tongue. After that, Sangwoo would not shut up for one second.
You never thought you'd hear such filthy words leaving your dad's mouth — and he said it so cooly. You're a real slut, you know that? and You're so wet for me, babygirl. Don't be surprised if you wake up one day like this, before sucking your clit between his lips and resuming the licks.
Sangwoo really takes his time with you. He makes you come multiple times on his face before even thinking of adding his fingers into your pussy. He proceeds to put his mouth to a better use and leaves bite marks all over your body, from shoulders to thighs. The purple marks will look amazing the next day, he promises, and also you won't be leaving the house for some time. It's a win-win.
THE SALESMAN
The man is the definition of sadism. Your dad is probably ten steps ahead of you and he wants to hear you say it. Remember the time you moaned a bit too loud when touching yourself? He knows. The next day, your dad is asking you too many questions about the time you went to bed and what were you doing that kept you up so late. He does that with a smug smile on his face, taking pleasure in the faint red on your cheeks and how you struggle to find the perfect excuse which, to be sincere, will serve for nothing.
You are not sure if he is dropping subtle hints of his real intentions or if it's just your imagination playing tricks on you. Father has always been kind of invasive with showing affection. The line was crossed the day you woke up with his hand pressed against your stomach and his body dangerously close to yours in your bed. He probably caught you sleeping on the sofa again and brought you to your room — at least that's what you've tried to tell yourself. He could've just put you in your bed and walked away, there was no reasonable explanation for whatever was this.
You absolutely lose it when his lips brush against your ear, a husky voice startling you awake. It was merely a good morning, babygirl, but it definitely stirred something up inside you. The way his fingers curled on the skin of your hips caused you to hold back a moan and jolt yourself from the bed. In the rush of avoiding further embarrassment, you missed the smile that crept up onto his lips.
Things escalate in such a passive-aggressive rhythm. During one of your movie nights, he holds you close while pressing kisses to your temples all the time, just like a boyfriend would do. When he asks something about the movie, you are too focused on the proximity of your faces, his dark eyes boring into yours while your gaze wanders from his amused stare to his lips. The tension in the air made it hard to breathe and there was a burning feeling in your gut that rushed you into a decision.
The kiss was reciprocal, as if he was waiting for you to take the first step all along. You let out a sigh when your lips touched from all the air you've been holding. His hand got a good grip on the back of your neck, reasserting his dominance over you. It was clear that you belonged to him. His tongue was aggressive amidst the kiss and you realized that you've longed for this feeling for a while now, to be dominated by someone more experienced than you. A moan escaped your lips when his grip tightened around your neck and dad pushed you onto the couch until he was able to lie down on top of your fragile frame. He looked exactly like a wolf ready to devour his prey and just now you realized how long he was preparing for this situation. Not that you minded it, though.
Dad wishes to break your mind before taking care of your body. He toys with you during foreplay, edging you multiple times no matter your pleas before he is even close to being satisfied. He wants to make a mess out of you, dragging his fingers in and out of your cunt until you're weak under his touch. He has worked hard on denying orgasms from you that you couldn't take it anymore, reaching your climax because of the exhaustion and excess of stimuli. It's only after leaving you limp that he considers giving you his cock.
THE FRONTMAN
Sex is merely a reward. Your dad is very stern, his authoritarian gaze being enough to make you flinch. It is only when you disobey his orders that he takes out on you. He is very cold, expecting you to show regrets of your less than adequate behavior. Although he might be more lenient of using cold, authoritarian communication until he is satisfied with your pleas, he might consider using physical punishments if you dare to cross the limits again.
The first time you slept together was the day you broke one of his first rules: do not leave your room. He had brought you to the island while he acted as the frontman and reinforced the importance of that rule as to avoid you getting caught up in the middle of the abominable mess that was his work. He was livid when he found out from one of the guards they'd caught a strange girl wandering through the halls, worried that one of those monsters had intentions of doing something else with you.
By the time you arrived into his place, the same place he kept you locked up, he was calling you stupid girl repeated times with some disdain mixed with concern. It's only when he sees the tears running down your face nonstop that he takes a deep breath, deciding between wishing to hold you close as a caring parent would do or sending you straight to your punishment.
Either way, you got your twisted reward. He ordered you to pull down your trousers, to which you showed some resistance. After he was so demanding, to the point of saying I am not playing games, silly girl. Take them off. you did exactly as he told you, humiliated by the thought of getting naked in front of him. You felt his gloved fingers kneading your bottom, as if he was testing the waters, and you held back a whimper. The impact of the first smack caused you to sob, only for it to become rounds of spanking.
It stopped when father decided it was enough, seeing your bum colored in vivid red. You knew better than to express your soreness out loud so you just let the tears run down your face in uncontrollable fashion, not daring to make any sounds. The tired eyes glanced at his piece of art, unsure if you were deserving of his cock. At that moment fear readily raced through your entire body as you realized you were still at mercy of his punishments just as he said touch yourself for me, then we'll see if you're worthy of something.

Pete as a masochist
Just saw someone on Twitter addressing a large part of the fandom’s labeling of Pete as masochistic given his response to Vegas in Ep10. I can see how people have developed this conclusion given the myriad of “Vegas finally met someone as unhinged as him” posts, but when I really think about it, there is no substantial evidence that Pete is unhinged. And to say that Pete is on the same level as Vegas mentally would be implying that Pete enjoys seeing others in pain. Pete does his job even when it means hurting potentially innocent people, but that doesn’t mean he enjoys it (and one lingering look at Vegas while he tortures a man in Ep7 does not mean he shares in Vegas’s views on pain).
To echo a sentiment by @thisautistic in this post, Pete smiling and laughing during the torture scene in Ep10 also does not mean he is enjoying what’s happening to him. Even if he craves some sort of punishment to resolve inner turmoil (just a prediction because at this point we really don’t have enough information to say), Pete’s expression in this scene is more of a challenge to Vegas than anything else.
None of this to say that I have not also enjoyed the discourse surrounding Pete’s mental state, because the torture scene in Ep10 did give me chills throughout (major credit to BibleBuild’s acting). I just don’t think it’s accurate to equate Pete and Vegas when one is a victim and the other a violent perpetrator. The reason this is a concern of mine is because I can easily see it serving as an excuse for Vegas’s actions (i.e., “Pain is a sexual kink for Pete, so if he enjoys it, it’s not really a problem”). Not trying to exaggerate this argument too much, but I think that one of the reasons why the VegasPete storyline is so potentially toxic (besides the obvious that we’ve already seen) is because Pete’s torture could easily be spun into a “kinky thing” at this stage. It very well could turn into that in the future, but this in no way excuses Vegas’s actions at this point. He’s brutally torturing Pete, and Pete is combatting him in the only way that he can. Calling Pete a masochist implies that he and Vegas are at the same level of messed-up, which just...doesn’t check out for me.
So anyway, not trying to come at any one who holds this perspective, but it’s bothered me a bit, so I had to get it off of my chest.
And for anyone interested, I go into a lot more depth about expressions and cinematography in the torture scene in this post.

I see folks giving Griffith a lot of heat for killing the band and forcing himself on Casca, which he did for a resurrection and nothing else (the entirety of the Egg-Apostle arc is dedicated to this). He isn’t a human being at that point, so why are people so upset? Let’s not pretend that Guts and Casca are innocents. You want to hate Griffith? Sure, but why do you like Guts, a man who was a direct facilitator in the genocide of thousands in a village just to kill one Apostle, on the basis of morality of all the concepts? Why are you all fine with Casca and the Band fighting evil battles for pedophile kings just so they could get money? Band of Hawk were hired militia, thugs basically, who warred for whoever hired them. However, everyone acts as if Griffith murdered their mother and dog.
If you want to play the morality card, you better use it for everyone, or no one. This double-standard’s something I’ve always deeply despised about fandoms, or do you all just want to self-insert into Guts and Casca’s place for validations or “r*pe victim” trauma or something? I’m a childhood rape-survivor, too. All three of these characters are not winning any morality medals anytime soon. At least, Griffith’s actually a well written character who had reasons to do what he did. The other two? Not really.
Enh I mean I disagree with the statement that Griffith raped Casca to facilitate his resurrection - I think he raped her because he was feeling petty and it happened to facilitate his resurrection because of fate. His actions during the Eclipse suggest this - trying to kill Skull Knight, raising his hand to kill them as they escape before lowering it after looking at Guts specifically, rather than Casca, as well as the stupid fetus fusing with him being a hindrance to him and therefore not likely something he planned.
That said he was still transformed into an evil demon at the time lol so logically it doesn't make sense to hate Griffith for it. But yk, I can't exactly blame people despite that. I think it's understandable to have a strong, visceral, emotional reaction to a main character raping another main character regardless of logical circumstances. The scene was written to elicit a big negative emotional reaction, and that's what it got. The Hawks mercenarying is not written to elicit a negative emotional reaction, and it doesn't get one. I think that's fair, and I don't think people should have to apply real-world moral standards to a fictional work, especially without regard to narrative framing.
That said it's very true that fandom often demonstrates double standards with how they hate Griffith but jump to excuse Guts for assaulting Casca himself, and also the way they express their feelings is annoying as fuck at best and offensive way too often lol. Like at the end of the day it's a fictional story and harassing and haranguing real people over it is always going to be an obnoxious overreaction. So yeah like, it sucks lol and I totally feel your frustration at the rest of fandom. I don't necessarily agree with the details of your argument but I definitely agree with the sentiment.
