Yandere Baby Daddy Logan Howlett
Wolverine, as a yandere, can be intense, fiercely protective, possessive, and obsessive in his love. He is not afraid to use violence and intimidation to keep the object of his affection close to him and ensure your safety. He may struggle with trust issues and jealousy, always on guard for any perceived threats. Despite his tough exterior, he deeply cares for you and can be incredibly loving and tender when the situation calls for it. However, he can be intimidating and controlling at times, driven by his intense emotions and a desire to keep what is "his."
As a yandere baby daddy, Wolverine is intensely protective and possessive of his family. He is fiercely devoted to you and his child, willing to go to great lengths to ensure your safety and happiness.
He'll go into "overprotective dad mode," keeping a close eye on you and the kid, and anyone who attempts to harm you or intrude upon your family life may face his wrath. However, beneath this fiercely protective exterior, he'll also display a softer side, doting on his child and expressing his love in his own unique, rugged way.
He might struggle with balancing his intense protectiveness with giving you space and independence. It's a tightrope walk between his natural instincts and respecting your autonomy. However, he'll always prioritize the safety and well-being of you and his child above all else.
He may still struggle with trust and jealousy issues even after the baby, but he recognizes the importance of being a responsible parent and will, in his own way, do everything he can to support and provide for his child. While his methods may be unconventional, he genuinely cares for his family and will always have your best interests at heart, even if he can be a bit intense at times.
But he'll also demand a lot of attention, becoming jealous and possessive when you seem to give affection to anyone or anything else, including the child. He'll struggle with balancing his protective nature with allowing his family to have time without him. Overall, he's fiercely protective and devoted but can be demanding and possessive in his role as a yandere baby daddy.
However, Wolverine's yandere tendencies could extend beyond just protection. He might become overly possessive and controlling, suspicious of anyone who interacts with you or the child, and might even exhibit signs of possessiveness toward the baby. He questions your loyalty or fidelity and may need reassurance and communication to ease these insecurities. His intense emotions could also lead to bouts of anger or aggression if he perceives a threat to your family's safety or happiness.
Oh, and be prepared for the occasional jealous outburst, especially if someone else gets a little too close to his family. Logan can get pretty territorial. But deep down, he's just a big softie who loves you and your kiddo more than anything in the world.
Logan might also experience moments of insecurity, especially given his rough past. He may question his ability to be a good father and partner, fearing that his violent tendencies could negatively impact your child. He'll struggle to balance his fierce protective instincts with the need to allow his child to grow and learn independently.
You might also notice an increased reliance on communication. Logan will likely start opening up more about his fears, insecurities, and past traumas as he navigates the complexities of fatherhood while dealing with his yandere tendencies.
Wolverine as a yandere baby daddy is also likely to have a strong sense of responsibility. He'll prioritize providing for and caring for his family, and might even go to extremes to ensure financial security. Additionally, he'll want to teach the kid his ways and values, being a rough-and-tumble father figure. He'll try to instill his survival and combat skills, as well as his sense of loyalty and bravery in his child.
Overall, expect a mix of intense loving and overprotectiveness from the feral baby daddy Wolverine.
With Logan as a yandere baby daddy, expect some occasional mood swings and bouts of grumpiness. He's not exactly a smooth talker or romantic, so don't expect flowery compliments or sweet gestures. Instead, his affection can manifest in gruff, rough, and even violent ways. He might express his love through acts of service, like protecting you and the kid from danger, rather than traditional romantic gestures.

this is going to be dc x danny phantom x miraculous ladybug x spiderman
pt 1, 2, 3, 4
for those who aren't familiar with every show, here's a lore explanation
---
jazz fenton and constantine had met, of course, on a dreary december night, when rain had poured ominously. with thundering clouds above, constantine had blinked awake from a coma-like nap to the sound of knocking on his apartment door.
a wet and scowling jazz had stood on the other side, orange hair stuck to her skin and shaking hands gripping a leather tome to her chest. despite her shaky appearance, she spoke clearly, southern drawl shaping the vowels uniquely, "john constantine? my name's jazz fenton, may i come in?"
"no."
trying to slam the door shut had no affect, as she had simply shoved the book in the way.
"i really need your help."
"fuck off."
constantine blocked the open slit with his body as she shimmied her knee in for more leverage.
"i'm a history student at gotham u." another mini scuffle as both pushed against the door. "i'm looking for information on an old myth." constantine tried using his hip to push the tome out of the way. "do you know about lazarus pits?"
constantine rebooted his brain to shake away the shock. clearing his throat, he backed away, the door squeaking on its hinges to show the smirking girl. "may i come in?"
the australian man scoffed and drifted away to the kitchen table. the student surveyed the crappy apartment as she followed, sitting down across from him with a relieved grunt. she put the book on the table.
he eyed the girl warily, "what's this about lazarus pits? where'd you hear it?"
she cleared her throat, back straight and hands crossed on her lap. if it wasn't for her sorry state, she would be the image of professional.
"i'm not in a position to discuss my sources. however, from what i've heard, there's one underneath this city." her eyes glinted a steely aquamarine. "i need to see it."
constantine barked a gruff laugh. "you're crazy. there isn't a chance in hell ranga." he jerked his head at the book on the table. "what's with that then?"
her hands flipped its pages, stopping at a detailed drawing of a bubbling pit. upside down, it was hard for constantine to decipher. "it says in here that long ago, bubbling pits of green water were used by witches to speak with the dead. they could only be found in places with a strong lack of godly devotion, invoking satan's forces." she huffed, a sad smile lifting her face. "if i can confirm gotham's lazarus pit and what it consists of, i can further argue the existence of gotham's own witch coven in the 1600s before the salem trials. for my thesis, of course."
"for your thesis," constantine echoed, a bit mockingly.
"of course." repeated jazz pleasantly. "if you're so unwilling to come along, a few directions would suffice."
the man snarled, "no dice kiddo, scram."
jazz seemed unfazed, gathering herself up with the grace of a dancer. sweeping the book back into her hands, she walked towards the doorway. under the frame, she turned to tutt at him, "i'd spray some air freshner in here. cigarrette smoke attracts unfavorable forces."
---
jazz fenton did not disappear nor fade into obscurity. constantine had the pleasure of her company the following wednesday, where both had escaped certain death at the hands of a cursed portrait pulling unassuming tourists into its french landscape.
sat in the ruins of a crumbling mansion, constantine lit his cigarrette and studied the girl across from him. "so, how did your research lead you here?"
jazz snorted, decorative mace still in hand even after the fight had ended, "property records were transferred to the gotham government after the trials. just had to figure out what victim it was connected to and, voila, witch mansion."
---
after much persuasion and conversation, constantine decided that this girl, with the smarts for battle and a deep intuision for the magical, would be his prodigy. and if her company included good banter, fatherly worries and emotional attachment, that was neither here nor there.
---
two years later, jazz fenton was a doctor in historical studies of gotham folklore, a museum consultator and a justice league dark probationary member.
batman and zatanna, both well aware of the orphan constantine had taken under his wing, had not been surprised to greet her at the door of the australian's apartment.
"sorry for the mess guys, we've been drawing all night." they shimmied across the paper covered floor into the kitchen where the blonde was eating a bowl of cereal. "we've narrowed down the source of the problem somewhat. last thursday, what you saw on that hill, we think it might be an old gaelic deity, cailleach."
zatanna frowned at the idea, "a gaelic deity? deities don't leave their countries."
constantine spoke through a garble of cheerios, "yes but what if they weren't this earth's deity?"
batman remained silent and jazz spoke to him, "when a deity is borne from worship or belief, they tend to only exist there."
"something only exists if it is observed." the bat mused.
jazz brightened, "yes! deities only exist in the countries that they're observed in. however, we believe this cailleach is not our scotland's deity but rather doesn't exist tied to a reality at all."
"but a deity can't exist without a belief well," zatanna replied.
"well, yes," constantine stood up and dragged over a vintage drawing of an old woman in a cloak, her hand wielding a hammer, "but what if someone could die and leave their reality's vibrations? go neither to their hell or heaven or hades' underworld or valhalla or whatever else, and take their beliefs with them?"
"you're talking about the infinite realms."
"the infinite realms?" intoned batman.
jazz showed the caped man a note, this time a depiction of a vast land with floating islands and starry skies. "the infinite realms is a different dimension. it exists on another plane, like icthultu's realm. when we talk about the afterlife, bad or good, every reality has their own. however, the infinite realms can sometimes bleed into every reality. because of this, souls touched by its essence can slip the afterlife and go on to exist in the infinite realms."
"if you were to die bats," constantine leaned back, "there would only be one batman wherever we go after death. but in the infinite realms, you could have 2 or 5 or 10, all dead and from different worlds."
zatanna hummed at all this and looked closer at the runes they'd compiled, "so if a hardcore cailleach believer passed on to the infinite realms, cailleach could come to life there."
constantine snapped his finger, "exactly! that's the theory, but really, it only works if the ghost monster that attacked the park next to the hill is the belief well. not really human-like but a possibiliy. the infinite realms has a bad habit of creating weird shit."
"can we expect more creatures to come from the infinite realms?" asked batman.
"no." "maybe."
jazz and constantine whipped their heads to exchange irritated stares. the australian man got up roughly, chair scraping the floor, and took his bowl to the sink, the faucet water breaking the silence.
jazz sat down, gesturing for their two guests to finally sit. she reached underneath the table towards a purple backbag, and pulled out her old book tome. flipping it open, she showed the pit drawing to the other two heroes.
"what if the lazarus pits were connected to the infinite realms?"
zatanna leaned in, intrigued, batman remained stone faced, and constantine scoffed loudly. the blonde began muttering but jazz continued on. "i believe ra's tried to erase all records of the pits, but mentions of reviving waters can be found all across cult scripts and witch coven writings. waters that could bring back the dead, that whispered with human voices, that sometimes held goulish creatures underneath its waters. a material thick and glowing green penetrating the soil around it. the only evidence of the infinite realms is a page from doctor fate, and he mentioned a green, jelly-like substance!"
constantine huffed again, like an angry boar, and turned, hands covered in soap suds. "i swear to god, you're making connections where they don't exist! if the pits had anything to do with the infinite realms, that would've been the first thing doctor fate told us!"
jazz stood, hands planted on the table, "if you would just trust me, we could go check and rule it out, but ancients forbid i'm right! you're just scared about wha-"
constantine got close to her and pointed in her face, "you've been obsessed with those pits since you stepped into my goddamn apartment two years ago, let it go jazz or i swear i'll pull you off this case."
a thousand emotions flickered across jazz's face before, with teary eyes and a thunderous scowl, she stomped away, figure disappearing into the living room. faintly, the sound of the balcony doors sliding open echoed before a soft click followed.
zatanna, who had witnissed many of jazz and constantine's fights before, and knew how deeply the man cared for the girl, heaved a sigh. both were stubborn and it would take a bit before things settled. she decided to keep quiet, reaching for jazz's tome to keep occupied. as she reached across, a soapy hand impeded her. looking at constantine, he wore a frown, "she doesn't like others touching it. go look at the runes, see if you recognize anything."
zatanna smiled a small thing at the man she was so fond of, and got up to do so.
batman, who had watched everything with mixed feelings, watched the australian go back to the sink. faced with his back, he spoke lowly, "the pit's too far away from the park."
constantine sighed, shoulders drooping, "no, it wouldn't work like that. if it did, anyone revived by the pit would have to stay close to it. and if you destroy some of them, the undead might go back to being dead."
batman mulled this over in silence. he was undecided on the matter, too concerned about what it meant that the pits might be doors to another dimension. he conveyed his worries then, "if the pits are connected to the realms, how were we able to destroy them before?"
"if, and that's a big fucking if, they are connected to the realms, the essence can't be destroyed. it's all around us, all the time. the important bit is stacking it in one place to create a way through. like a stone bridge. when you destroy the pits, all you're doing is breaking up the stone, but the stone crumbles to the bottom, and you could, hypothetically, pick up each stone and put it together again. i guess the only things that works as a glue for it in our world is water."
"you're pretty calm discussing it now."
"one of these days that girl's gonna end up digging a hole she'll die in."
"kids are like that."
---
later on, when the apartment meeting had ended with no new leads and batman had debriefed the other bats, it was decided, unknown to constantine, that red robin and batman would look into the current state of the gotham lazarus pit. zatanna and martian manhunter would visit arabia to check the other naturally formed pit.
constantine and jazz were still on the fritz, but one evening, to constantine's concern, the girl had called to say she would be in illinois for a few days, "visiting the orphanage". the redhead had never done so before, but who was the australian to interrogate her? he wished her a good trip and that was that.
---
jazz had been missing for two weeks, calls unanswered, phone untrackable. gotham had witnessed two more ghost-like monster attacks, and all three of them had been untouchable, disappearing on their own in 30 minutes. the bats were too concerned with uncovering the source, justice league dark had been put on the case and too was scrambling for clues, and constantine was ready to rip his hair out in concern for his prodigy.
on his way to the airport, in the backseat of a taxi, ready to fly to springfield, his phone rang, lighting up with a smiling graduation picture of jazz fenton.
he rushed to answer it, "hello?! ranga?! jazz!"
crackling came through, the mic rustling before a breathless voice called back, "cons---tine! we ne--- help! i'm outs--- f amity park, th--- a sig---al blo---. you n---d to come! the hou--- a portal! --- stantine?! hello?!"
the line cut off. constantine told the taxi driver to floor it.

🦋 Aurélie Collins
F L U F F Y A L P H A B E T | It's about time I did one of these for my girl. SFW, all fluff.
✨ Read my Sebastian alphabets here [spicy] and here [fluffy].
✨ My Hogwarts Legacy Masterlist.
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
I recently described Aurélie as a "newly adopted cat" and I don't think I'll ever come up with a better way to describe the way she handles affection, lolol. Bit skittish and wary at first, but the more you keep at it, the more she'll start to enjoy it (but she'll pretend she doesn't.)
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Most of Aura's friendships start out with the other person being strangely persistent about befriending her until she eventually comes to accept them being a part of her life, lol.
She likes to make her friends feel pretty (regardless of their gender). She'll braid/play with their hair, randomly buy them pretty things or expensive clothes, gift them items from her own wardrobe that she doesn't want any more, take them shopping.
She's very distrustful of anyone who shows romantic interest towards her friends and will give them the stink-eye until they prove themselves worthy ("But are you sure you like him?")
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
With Sebastian "Physical Affection" Sallow as her partner, she doesn't have much of a choice, lol. But yes, once the newly adopted cat feels comfortable in her surroundings, it's virtually impossible to pry her away from the warm cozy cuddles.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
She's a Taurus rising homebody who craves stability and love, so she definitely wants to settle down. Her house would be aesthetic af (probably somewhere in the south of France by the ocean), and she'd have a cute little garden and a bunch of smol cute doggos (and eventually some smol cute kiddos). She'd be a total domestic goddess.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Uhh, well, Sebastian is her first and only relationship and they don't technically ever break up but [redacted for possible spoilers aaahaha]
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
She never gave much thought to marriage (or romance in general) until she fell in love with Sebastian, but after that, she knew she'd never love anyone as much as she loves him and honestly gets low-key impatient waiting for him to propose.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
She might have a cute li'l French-girl temper, but she's suuuch a gentle soul underneath it all. She struggles so much with her Ancient Magic because of how destructive it is; the thought of hurting people, whether by accident or otherwise — even if it's to defend herself — is unbearable. If she could rid herself of the power, she would do it without hesitation.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
She'll give hugs if they're needed or meaningful, but she doesn't go around hugging people willy nilly. She's not comfortable with excessive physical contact, but she'll tolerate it if one of her friends is the affectionate sort (ie literally all of them including her bf lolll).
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
HAHAHAaa twenty one chapters deep into Villain and she's not even close to saying it even though she knows it. She tends to show that she loves you through actions.
J= Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they're jealous?)
Not reeeeally. If anything, she gets insecure and will genuinely wonder why anyone likes her. She carries a lot of personal guilt over the losses in her life and tends to project those feelings onto the people she loves.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Being kissed in the centre of her forehead is her absolute favourite; it immediately makes her feel calm and loved and protected. Her favourite place to kiss is the underside of Sebastian's jawline since he's so much taller than she is.
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
While she's not super clucky and doe-eyed around them, she's surprisingly patient with children. As a mama, she'd be very hands on, teaching them how to garden without magic the way her Papa taught her, playing make-believe and encouraging their creative play.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
Aurélie is up and at'em with the sun, fresh as a daisy, probably dragging a grumbling Sebastian out of bed to watch the sunrise, pottering around the garden, baking bread, drinking tea, walking the dogs, going for a swim in the sea aka absolutely thriving.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
Night time is when she gets all soft and cuddly, which means good luck having any personal space or getting anything done because Aura is gonna cling. Newly adopted cat, remember? Wants cuddles. Needs belly rubs. Not that Sebastian ever complains about it, only he's had to learn how to read and study with a cute girl climbing all over him and falling asleep in his lap and making his legs numb because he doesn't wanna risk waking her up by moving.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
If she isn't directly asked questions, she won't willingly reveal anything about herself. She's very guarded and prefers to listen than to talk, so if she trusts you enough to tell you her secrets, you best believe you mean a lot to her.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
LOL listen. Bebe isn't known for her patience. She isn't easily angered (contrary to popular belief), but if she believes you've wronged her or behaved unacceptably, she will have no hesitation in letting you know about it — and it will be very French. She may be quiet, but she's certainly not shy.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Since she's the Queen of diverting attention away from herself, she learns a lot about the people she cares about. She's also got a fantastic memory and will likely remember things you mentioned in passing one time several years ago. Also means she'll never forget it if you offend her lol.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
Laughter! Sebastian is very good making her laugh when she least suspects it, and it's one of her favourite things about him. Aurélie is very introspective, can get stuck in her own head, and if she's gets onto a rant about something, it's hard for her to stop, so any moment when Sebastian disarms her by making her laugh is a moment she treasures.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
Given what she's been through, she is pretty distrusting of new people. If her friend has a new love interest, she'll immediately dislike that person and probably try to convince her friend not to bother lolll. She doesn't give away her love easily and ia very protective of the special few who receive it.
Sebastian is insanely protective of her, of course. It's basically how he courts her HAHA.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
She's like, famous for her gifts. Since her primary love language is gift giving, she pays special attention to all your favourite things and collects little gifts whenever she finds them. Doesn't even need to be a special occasion, either — often times, she'll just gift you something simply because it reminded her of you. It's how she tells you she cares about you.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
HAHA listen, she's a perfect angel who's never done a thing wrong in her life HOWEVER she is extremely stubborn, infuriatingly closed off and would rather eat flobberworm fritters every day of her life than ever ask for help. If she isn't being constantly drawn out of her shell, she'll stay in it forever.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
I'm always wary when creating "conventionally beautiful" characters that their looks don't become their entire personality, but if you've read Villain, you'll know that Aurélie doesn't think much about her looks. And that's because, well — she's just naturally beautiful. She doesn't have to think about it. Sure, she likes to look pretty, and she loves beautiful clothes and nice things, but she doesn't actively have to try very hard to achieve it. If anything, her focus is more on how she should "behave" or "present herself". Even in early chapters, Sebastian's descriptions of her physical appearance are always based on how "elegant" she is rather than how pretty she is, because that's what Aura is focused on projecting.
For example, from chapter three:
Finally, when 'Collins, Aurélie' was called to take the stool, the new girl stepped up to the podium with all the grace of a ballerina taking to the stage, her head held high despite the clear look of anxiety on her face. Sebastian rolled his eyes again; she wouldn't last a day in Slytherin - not being as delicate as that — the snake pit would devour her alive.
She definitely has pretty privilege in that people are naturally drawn to helping her, giving her gifts or going out of their way to make her feel comfortable, but she's genuinely pretty clueless of the effect her beauty has on others.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
Absolutely. Being so guarded, once she loves you, she won't ever stop. The loss of someone she loves is a pain she'll hold onto forever.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
She thinks butterbeer is the most revolting to ever exist, and the first time she tried it with Sebastian, she accused him of pranking her ("people actually drink this?!")
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn't like, either in general or in a partner?)
Being unkind to animals, and littering. And in modern au, smoking would be a huge ick.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)
She can't sleep without a light on. It's absolutely non-negotiable; if there isn't a light source, she won't fall asleep. Lucky for her, Sebastian is a night owl and is usually awake reading long after she falls asleep, so it works for them.

Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda (Part 2)
a/n: I’m terribly sorry this is late but it’s been a busy week. Please forgive me. Currently finishing up part 3! Warning; this is angstyyyyyyyy
Joel Miller x Reader
Word Count: 2186
PART 1 Masterlist
-------------------------------------------
Awkward tension disseminated the stifling space they found themselves trapped in. Ellie and Y/N’s attention darted to the cranky man, an element of surprise sneaking up on both.
Y/N fidgeted nervously picking at the hardened callus adorning her right palm. Her cheeks flared to life nearly unmissable to the common eye, but Joel? No, not a day passed he didn’t linger a second longer than appropriate. Shit, he practically lived for an accidental touch of the shoulder or brush of the leg. Joel was in stuck in hell and acutely aware of the angel and demon at war. Y/N was magnificent and he sure as hell didn’t…doesn’t say it enough.
Hastier than usual, Y/N grabbed her backpack with expert speed sprinting out the door towards freedom. She flew like a bat outta hell. Sunlight danced across her face. The warmth a welcoming distraction. Y/N gulped an anxious breath quelling her jitters. Whether by choice or not…she was fate’s bitch again.
Ellie’s hands waved maddeningly trying to nab Joel’s attention but the cowboy stood frozen transfixed by the last five minutes.
“Uh, earth to Joel?!”
Reality snapped back in place as Joel stared at the proud youngster. An aggravated grunt was all he mustered walking towards the door and out of this shithole. Ellie trailed behind.
The trio journeyed further down the path the wilted map laid out, one step closer to Wyoming, to a new beginning. Eager to break the discomfort, Ellie reached for her book. Anything was better than nothing, right? El thought so.
“Hey, I got a new one for you guys.”
The pages whipped in the wind forcing her to lose track of the current page.
“Any day now would be nice, ya know?” Joel’s prickly mood settled the score. Things were definitely soaring past uncomfortable and landed on planet catastrophe. Y/N stopped kicking dust up on Joel’s heels.
“Cut the shit, Joel. Let the girl speak.”
His answer or lack of must have been sufficient enough for Y/N as they moved onwards. Y/N grew fond of the child eventually loving the sweet but sour teen chiseling bit by bit but Ellie was worth the risk. Always.
A lighthearted tone filtered through their ears; a welcomed noise to the alternative.
“Why can’t you hear a pter—pt”
“Pterodactyl. It’s a dinosaur.”
Ellie repeated; the word feeling foreign on her tongue.
“Whatever. Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl going to the bathroom?”
Y/N smiled waiting for the punch line. Joel staggered ahead trying his best to ignore the current ladies of his life. Y/N counted to ten; “Oh out with it already! Enlighten us.”
An innocent laughter accompanied hardly allowing Ellie to reveal the answer; “Because…the p is silent!”
She broke into a fit of giggles amused at her own joke.
“Wow, might have to file that way away for a rainy day kiddo.”
They trekked six more hours before finding stable campgrounds. One by one, their sleeping bags rolled along the frosty, unforgiving terrain just close enough but never touching. With the sun long set and a fire ablaze, everyone settled into their nightly routine which usually consisted of Ellie reading her comic books and Joel retreating so far into his own head. Easier that way... It annoyed the living piss outta him. His hand clenched wishing to lace his fingers with hers, a pathetic token of affection. But the rational part of his brain told him to shut it off and bury it so deep not even he would know its residence.
“I’ll take first and second watch. Y’all catch some sleep.”
His eyes shifted over Ellie; “And don’t think you can stay up all night reading, tomorrow’s a big day for all us. That includes you, Y/N.”
Two silent beats passed. Joel resumed; “And don’t think I don’t know bout Frank sneakin you that sack of books you keep poorly hidden. Don’t fool yourself, darling. I’m always one step ahead.”
Her eyebrow rose in morbid curiosity; “Just because some of us are determined to quite literally suck the fun out of this shitty world doesn’t equivalent said person having absolutely anything to say about mine.”
Ellie agreed quickly nodding intuitively; “Oh, Y/N. What would I do without you?”
Her rebuttal was quick witted; “Not sure, die maybe?”
“Yep, you are so my favorite.”
A miserable grumble echoed back; “Heard that.”
“Goodnight o loveable child I never wanted but slowly let into my cold wretched heart regardless.”
“Sweet dreams, sucker.”
Hours ticked by bringing him to the cuff of midnight madness. Joel surveyed the frozen forest scattered in shadows and secrecy. He hated when there wasn’t a clear-cut option. When it was kill or be killed, you’re suddenly forced to choose and fast. Little snores filtered the frigid air reminding him they at least would live to see another day.
For the next couple minutes, Joel scavenged his memories; the ones that tugged at him most frequently were with his beautiful baby and Y/N. Every birthday, holiday, and Saturday movie night of their lives was spent creating infectious happiness. If only he had stayed the night he opted to run or kissed her without hesitation, given an ounce of himself so she could possibly understand the gaping hole she forever filled in his heart. She was his best friend, his confidante, his past. Too scared to be lovers, eternally looped in boundless temptation.
Sarah’s death had permanently hardened him reliving the screeching cries of Y/N, the utter desperation tied in her howls, and the forlorn terror taking ahold of Tommy at the sight of Sarah’s lifeless limbs. The aching emptiness of her death shaped him into the monster he was today…maybe always has been. Y/N was a reminder of everything decent he ever had and for was reason alone to keep her at arm’s length no matter the cost. Joel Miller was a man of his word…most of the time.
Dampened twigs snapped beneath worn boots in the distance between him and the girls. His girls. Deep down Joel knew things could never pan out even in pre-Outbreak. He hid like a coward in plain sight from anything out of his control and that usually meant Y/N. Never predictable, a constant that scared Joel to his core. But not now, not when survival predictably remained on the forefront of his mind. He made a promise to Tess and he’d be damned if he didn’t do his best to fulfil it. Life was merciless and winter didn’t help their shared misery. He too was thankful to be closing in on their predicted coordinates, to Tommy.
A small hand rested atop his shoulder squeezing slightly. Joel tensed turning around. The pair exchanged looks. Her voice was soft like churned butter; “Let’s switch. You go rest up.”
At her cruelest, Y/N was compassionate. A calloused palm connected with her warm cheek. Y/N inadvertently leaned into the reassuring stroke. Her hypnotic eyes fluttered open at the foreign sensation jolting back. She sighed. Why did it always feel so natural with Joel? Why was this curse laid upon Y/N, to love and never truly know love. She was convinced it was some cruel cosmic prank handcrafted just for her. He lingered, thumb caressing the corner of her rosy lips. Flickers of hazel filtered through his irises allowing himself a moment of reprieve and relaxation. He bathed it in.
Their blissful bubble burst too quickly pummeling them to reality. Y/N pulled away instantly missing the welcomed heat.
“Y/N…”
With lightning speed, Y/N propelled off the soggy ground sprinting near a clearing. When deemed far enough, Y/N paused her back facing Joel. He stopped leaving minimal space.
“No. You don’t get to do this. Not now, not ever. You hear me, Joel Miller?”
Confusion was written all over his face; “Darlin’, please talk—”
Y/N shook her head, her shoulders slumped forward; “See Joel, you can’t say things like that. I’m not your girl, you’ve made that abundantly clear time and time again so what else could we possibly have left to discuss, hm?”
“That’s not fair.”
A chortle slipped from Y/N only angering his budding temper.
Her gaze seared into his; “You really wanna do this?”
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.”
“Fine, let’s fucking go.”
Y/N angled her body facing Joel.
“You love the way I make you feel. The endless compliments, the incessant worship, the prioritized attention, I mean the list just keeps going. You give me just enough of yourself and then inevitably pull away. Girl after girl just waltz through and I let you because I figured it was better to have you in any capacity than not at all. I fucked up by putting you first, but you allowed it, didn’t you?”
She bit the inside of lip refusing to cry in front of him. He didn’t deserve the privilege. His mouth opened ready to interject. Y/N continued.
“I’ve been in love with you for so fucking long, humiliation would be too nice of a term. Don’t bullshit or bait me. Every morning I wake up, I have to swallow this bitter pill. So no offense but fuck you for using me to make you happy until you felt like you didn’t need me anymore and left me wondering where I went wrong.”
Words flew fast; “Yer putting words in my mouth! Haven’t even given me a fighting chance. You’ve already called the winner.”
Y/N’s hands fisted by her side in attempt to suppress her irritation.
“I gave you two decades. I hated myself for imagining you. Every kiss, every caress, every fucking thing. And then you--.”
His heart jumpstarted genuinely fearful of the path they were going down.
“The night we made love, I thought I’d finally won, that the heavens aligned or some bullshit. You’d never kissed me like that before. When I found you gone in the morning, I still held out, you were going to be different. You fucked me and discarded me for the newest model. Guess you got it out of your system.”
“S’not how I remember it.”
“No? Remember making me your glorified secret until Outbreak Day? You were embarrassed and I was heartbroken. Luckily, some higher power saw fit to give me a six-year breather until running into you …and Tess.”
Joel was solemn, remorseful and unsure what qualities she found attractive.
“Is it my turn yet? Great. Now listen here, I was an asshole and a manipulator, and an overall garbage human. I worked too much, made no time for hobbies of my own, I didn’t...don’t understand why you--.” His voice shook for barely a second finding his footing quick; “You deserved an entire galaxy. I couldn’t give you that, not on my best day. Eventually, you would resent me. An ordinary loser who couldn’t begin to make you happy.”
“That wasn’t your choice to make alone. It takes two to tango.”
“I know.”
“We’ve done this dance before. I’m tired, Joel. I wanna live just for a second without this hostility, this fury underneath my skin. I need to—exist.”
Ellie’s sweet snorts erupted the intensity. Thank God, the youngster isn’t eavesdropping for once. The rustle of trees casted dazzling shadows and a far spookier imagery.
“It’s bout time we go our own ways. Don’t you think?... Joel, I’d rather live without you than like this.”
It tasted putrid leaving an unpleasant taste in her mouth; “Ellie is the only reason I’m here. That girl softened something in me and I know you hate that and yer a hardass but guess what, Joel? You aren’t the only one that lost somebody so quit being so damn selfish and buck up. It’s more than just you and me, old man.”
His signature scowl was more than enough for Y/N to know he got the message. She awaited his rebuttal but it didn’t come. She stood resolute and waited again met with nothing. His upper lip snarled but Joel nodded nonetheless. Dreadful relief flooded her system. The metallic taste of blood overcame his senses realizing he’d torn the inside of his cheek. Say something, anything you idiot!
He didn’t. Because this wasn’t a fairy tale and he wasn’t a prince. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ellie awoke with a loud yawn, alerting the group. Y/N and Joel ignored each other packing in complete silence. Ellie’s eyes bounced from grump to grumpier electing not to rock the boat. Y/N pulled the map showing Ellie the trail; “How many days does that equal? My math isn’t, uh, 100% reliable.”
Joel butted in; “Day or two give or take. Almost to Jackson County which means it just a few miles at that point. Time to get goin’.”
El trudged through the infinite icy slush together. Her socks were damped sticking to weirdly to the heel of her left foot. Though crisp, cool air was much welcomed compared to stale, humid summers. Turns out, global climate was indeed not a joke. Luckily, that too fell with the collapse of society. With their destination soon in sight, Y/N could’ve sworn a spark of hope ignited in her veins.
all of the storge and agape questions for esme ? <3
Thank you so much!! <3 <3
Storge:
Did your OC’s parents love them unconditionally? If so then has this helped them feel confident as an adult? If not then how has this affected them? What were the conditions their family attached to their relationship?
Esme had a very good relationship with her father, and was a 'daddy's girl'. She was the last of six kids, and the only girl, and she was the 'princess' that he loved to spoil and dote on. Her mother on the other hand, never wanted a baby that late in her life and especially didn't want a little girl, and she never let Esme forget that. And when her father died when she was seventeen, her mother's treatment of her grew progressively.
Despite that, she still grew to be a reasonably confident person. And extremely tenacious and resilient. But it did lead her to making poor choices in the romantic department, and she ended marrying an extremely abusive man.
She has no relationship with her mother now that she's settled into a much happier life and has a children of her own. She refuses to let that toxicity in.
Does your OC have children? If so then how fiercely do they love them? If they have more than one then do they love them all equally? If they do not have children then is this part of their future plans?
In the main series, she and Tyler have seven kiddos, including two sets of twins. She is a momma bear, through and through! She loves deeply and fiercely and will protect her family at all costs. No one messes with her cubs! Her oldest boy is her favourite and her 'baby' but there love and attention is evenly spread through all the kiddos :)
How far does parental approval (imagined or expressed) impact upon their current sense of self-worth? What might they sacrifice or attempt to achieve in order to ensure the approval of their parents?
It used to effect Esme greatly. To the point she'd give up the things she loved and enjoyed just to try and gain her mother's approval and love. Even when she first married Tyler, there was an attempt to keep the peace between her old family and her new one; her mother despise him for 'stealing' her daughter and accused him of keeping her away from her family and using coercion and abuse to make her stay in Australia. All bs, of course.
Does your OC have any siblings? If so then did their parents have a favourite growing up? Has their relationship with their sibling changed in adulthood? If they don’t have any siblings then do they perhaps feel they have missed out on an important relationship? Do they have any especially close friends who go some way towards filling that role?
Esme has five older brothers and while her father spread the love and attention around, her mother only cared about the boys. There's quite an age gap between Esme and the first four boys, and she was always closest with the one nearest to her in age, Kyle. As adults, they have a strained relationship, as the mother's hatred for Tyler has spread through the rest of the family. And Esme remains loyal to her husband.
Is your OC able to love without necessarily needing or expecting reciprocation or reward? Or are all their relationships to some extent transactional? Have they ever loved another person unconditionally, whether a child or another adult?
Esme loves with everything she is and everything she has. Her love is both unconditional and unwavering when it comes to Tyler and their children.
Agape:
Does your OC wish to make the world a better place? How far do they see that as being their responsibility? What lengths would they go to in order to help achieve this?
She used to always have to 'fix' people and situations. To the point it would affect her mental health. She always believed everyone was worth a second chance and forgiveness, and sometimes found out the hard way just how wrong she was.
Does your OC feel a spiritual connection to the world around them? Do they have a particular love for nature or living things?
She definitely feels a connection to nature. She loves to be outside and enjoys getting her hands in the dirt; gardening is a passion of hers. And she loves being near the water and feels content and calm when she is.
To what extent does your OC believe in the value (or even existence) of true altruism? Do they see an unselfish concern for the welfare of others as being naïve or foolish? Or as a moral quality to which people should aspire?
She believes an unselfish concern for others is a 'must have' and that everyone should be that way.
Does your OC have a religious faith which emphasises the importance of a love for all people? If so then do they try to follow these teachings authentically? Or do they just pay lip-service to them? If not then do they follow a more martial or mercantile faith? Or none at all?
No. She is an atheist. Strictly a non-believer in a 'higher power' and has a strong distaste for organized religion and indoctrination.
Does your OC find it easy to empathise with their enemies? Or do they see it as important to dehumanise them in order to combat them with sufficient determination?
Esme finds it extremely easy to rationalize what makes people the way they are. Even the ones who have done her harm or continue to harm herself. She always looks for the reasons for their actions: a troubled childhood that led to the inability to form healthy relationships, life trauma that could have turned them cold and unfeeling or led to substance abuse.
A Journey into Maternal and Child Health with Occupational Therapy
Welcome aboard, fellow travelers!
Hello, welcome to Community Airlines Flight 413, where we're cruising at an altitude of passion and purpose. Please make sure your theoretical and practical knowledge are securely fastened in case of turbulence – after all, we're embarking on a journey into the heart of occupational therapy and maternal and child health. Enjoy the rest of the flight, and buckle up for some enlightening insights!
I must say, I'm feeling a blend of anxiety, anticipation and excitement as I return back to my seat and prepare to write my weekly reflective blogs after navigating the freshly unboxed clinical block. There's something truly about rekindling with my passion for this degree through such a broad and integrative module and into the wonderful world of maternal and child health.
Now, let me give you the scoop on why I'm here, sharing my thoughts on Occupational Therapy, mothers and kiddos. Picture a bustling clinic filled with tiny humans buzzing with energy, each one facing their own set of unique challenges and victories, both big and small. It's in these moments that I found there's an undeniable magic in helping these little warriors conquer their daily battles and witnessing the pure joy radiating from their parents(which is realistically not always the case). Supporting their development and helping them thrive in various contexts with their unique needs is significant.
But here's the thing, Occupational Therapy isn't just about adorable kiddos stacking blocks or creating masterpieces with coloured pencils (though, let's be honest, it is definitely a perk). It's about so much deeper – it's about amplifying the voices of those who may struggle to be heard, and championing the importance of maternal and child health in our society.
Today, we're shining a spotlight on a community that has quickly become near and dear to my heart in just a matter of days. A community prized by diversity, where stories and cultures intertwine and where resilience thrives. A community with spirit and history, but experiencing its fair share of challenges. From socioeconomic disparities to limited access to healthcare services and environmental factors impacting health outcomes – the journey towards better maternal and child health is paved with obstacles.
According to the World Health Organisation, maternal health is the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and during the post-natal period. Figures related to maternal injury and death remain overwhelmingly high with the main causes of these tragedies being high blood pressure, infection, unsafe abortion and indirect causes such as heart disease(WHO, 2020). Adverse consequences may cause injuries leading to developmental delays, neurological deficits, or physical disabilities in newborns.
Maternal mental illness/disorders such as postpartum depression and anxiety are commonly prevalent in low income and informal settings affecting almost 20% of women in South Africa with the percentage being even higher amongst the marginalised women we see in our communities(PMHP, 2015).
According to the Mayo Clinic(2022), Post-Partum Depression symptoms include:
Overwhelming fatigue and loss of appetite.
Inability to sleep(insomnia).
Reduced interest and pleasure in what was once enjoyed.
Feelings of guilt, hopelessness, inadequacy and fear of not being a good mother
Withdrawal from family and friends.
Often, postpartum depression in these vulnerable and marginalised individuals is greatly associated with socio-economic factors such as poverty, gender based violence, unemployment, education, neglected family support, fractured family structures and the fragmented healthcare system exacerbating these challenges.
In a case study of Cato Manor, 90% of the respondents stated that rape/sexual assault was common in the community. According to the SAPS, between April 2012 and March 2013 a total of 118 sexual crimes were reported in Cato Manor alongside rampant cases of neglect,violence and physical abuse. This, however, is not a realistic figure as many of these cases go unreported and are tragically common occurrences. Resilience in the midst of this adversity is a societal paradigm. Yet, amidst these challenges, the importance of maternal and child health remains paramount. (Gray et al., 2017).
Healthy mothers and children are at the foundation of the communities. When we invest in maternal and child health, we're investing in the future success of our society. After all, healthy kids today are the leaders and caregivers of tomorrow and healthy children are likely to thrive academically and eventually enter the real world as productive adults, driving economic growth and prosperity.
My mother’s favourite quote, “prevention is better than cure” fits in very well here.
Maternal and child health programs promote social cohesion and active engagement in their community, fostering a sense of belonging, creating meaningful connections and social support networks that strengthen the fabric of society. In our pursuit of a brighter, healthier future, my group and I are deeply committed to implementing a maternal health programe within the community where we do not only give the mothers a voice and platform to share their experiences but to empathise with one another while having an hour or two to themselves to escape from reality while their children are being exposed to a variety of new skills that address challenges through Occupational Therapy intervention provided to them by the students during this time. I approached a mother at the clinic queue to do Health Promotion and introduced her to the intended program, I asked her how she has been feeling and coping with motherhood at which she mentioned the joys and challenges of being a mother especially with her child still being very young. Her face glistened following our discussion, she asked a few questions and was instantly eager to be a member.
Occupational Therapists take a holistic approach to maternal and child health, considering not only the physical health but the psychological, social, and environmental well-being. Engaging with the community helps to understand their unique needs, priorities, and challenges related to this dilemma and by collaborating with community members and organizations to ensure that the needs of the community are made culturally sensitive and contextually relevant.
Health Promotion on prenatal care, breastfeeding support, and early childhood through providing education, early childhood development, injury prevention and establishing community-based support networks can assist in enabling mothers to make informed decisions about their health and well-being as well as their children’s health through access to opportunities to learn, grow, and to promote good health and nutrition.
In a very rich analogy by Cristopher(2024), it’s “seeing the Monalisa behind the graffiti” – in the face of adversity, there's strength. As Occupational Therapists, we are advocates, and allies, we have the opportunity to make a difference. The famous African humanist philosophy phrase,
“Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”
Meaning, "A person is a person through other people" and how the community itself is the building block of society. Through compassion and collaboration, we can work towards creating a brighter, healthier future for families in this community and beyond.
So, fasten your seatbelts and get ready to embark on this journey with me. Together, let's celebrate the resilience of families, and pave the way for a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Bon voyage,
Some of the great work that has been done by the Non-Profit Organisation that we are working alongside with in the community can be found on their Instagram page,
OT for kiddos and parenting health😊
The development of a child and the parent-child relationship are two interdependent processes. Several factors influence both children's and adults' occupational behaviour. The parent’s knowledge of their children and their attitudes toward the parenting role influence the parents' occupational behaviour.
"Maternal and child health" refers to preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health care for mothers and children, child health, family planning, school health, handicapped children, adolescents, and health aspects of children in special settings such as day-care (maternal and Health, 2020). Occupational therapists play a significant role in people's lives, including the importance of maternal and child health in a variety of contexts. The occupational therapist can also have an impact on the parent-child relationship by encouraging the child's development and teaching parents how to deal with their child's undesirable characteristics, such as excessive irritability.
It is also critical to consider other issues other than maternal and child health, such as reducing morbidity and disability and improving long-term outcomes relevant to human development. Sometimes children may have a developmental delay that might be linked to environmental factors which may include malnutrition because the mother is not working, and the father is absent hence the child is not getting a balanced diet, or the mother does not get a balanced diet so that she can be able to breastfeed the child. The close links between poverty, inequity, undernutrition, and human deprivation are well known, and all these factors have been shown to significantly reduce human development potential. (Walker and colleagues, 2007).
Although there has been significant progress in improving the survival of mothers and children worldwide, the changes are not occurring quickly enough. In addition, there are disadvantaged groups that do not benefit equally from development, resulting in increased health inequity. There are so many factors that also contribute to the unhealthy development of a child which may include the physical aspect, social aspect, and psychosocial aspect of the caregiver (mother). In most cases especially in low-class communities, mental health issues are less taken seriously yet these factors are hazardous to a child’s health if the mental state of their mothers is not controlled or aware of, which sometimes leads to mothers being diagnosed with mental health disorders. Maternal mental health disorders are one of the psychosocial factors affecting low-class communities, which have a negative impact on children and family outcomes. Furthermore, recent public health and policy initiatives have begun to highlight the importance of healthcare providers addressing the critical issue of maternal mental health. Some research indicated that during the perinatal period, up to 20% of mothers experience maternal mental health disorders (WHO, 2008a; Wisner et al., 2013).
Mothering is a primary occupation that entails caring for and nurturing people and relationships (Arrendel, 2000). However, maternal mental health disorders impair a mother's ability to manage the occupations and activities required to nurture a child. For example, a study discovered that depressed mothers are less likely to follow safety precautions such as placing the child in a safe sleep position, using a car seat, or having a working smoke alarm (Balbierz et al, 2015). That being said, living in that environment is not healthy for a child because their minds are still unable to problem solve and make concrete decisions about safety, putting the children in danger. The mothers are also more likely to face difficulties in maintaining a stable home and gaining access to nutritious foods. (Corman et al, 2016), are less likely to engage children through practices such as child development enrichment activities (Zajicek-Farber, 2010), and may struggle with communication which this a primary key for mothers to communicate with their children because children learn easily and best through communicating with their primary caregiver. (Field, 2010; Letourneau et al., 2012). Thomas Fuller wrote, “Charity begins at home but should not end there". In other words, we should nurture a sense of compassion and generosity in our relationships with those around us, but we should then work to extend that compassion and generosity to the rest of the world. Mothers suffering from postpartum anxiety disorders are also less likely to bond with their children (Tietz et al, 2014). likewise, obsessive, and intrusive maternal thoughts have been linked to lower breastfeeding rates and less sensitive parenting styles (Challacombe et al., 2016). Maternal mental health disorders, if ignored, can have long-term consequences for both child development and the entire family unit.
The emphasis on physical health, as well as the lack of effective collaboration and referral pathways between adult and peadiatric care and mental health systems, are significant barriers to maternal mental health care (California Task Force, 2017; Reynolds et al, 2012). Traditional early intervention in occupational therapy focuses on specific developmental delays in children. Attachment theory proposes that an infant's emotional bond with caregivers is the foundation of development (Ainsworth, 1989; Bowlby, 1982; Malekpour, 2007). The parent-child relationship and functions are addressed in the relationship-based approach of early intervention, which is based on the premise that healthy child development is dependent on a child's primary attachment to the parents, physical and emotional safety, and predictable routines (Mahoney & Perales, 2005; Stoffel & Schleis, 2014). To foster physical, social, and emotional development, OTs use interventions to promote engagement in occupations such as feeding, sleeping, resting, playing, socializing, education, and communication (Clark & Kingsley, 2013).
It has also been noted in one of the communities that is 2km away from CBD (Dalton community) that most of the people are suffering from TB and HIV also it was noted that covid was highly affecting this area hence this is a red flag for child’s health as TB and covid are easily spread. What was noted is that in that community they are living in an informal settlement where the whole family will be sharing a room realistically the health of a child is compromised if it may happen that one of the house members is suffering from TB. The environment influences the mother’s health and well-being.
Subsequently, occupational therapy is rethinking its human occupation framework to account for community social, political, economic, and environmental influences, as well as their effects on opportunities for being and doing. Creating programs centered on community-based rehabilitation (CBR) and human rights is one approach to incorporating this component into undergraduate curricula. Recent World Federation of Occupational Therapists position papers, combined with occupational justice arguments, may help to shift professional thinking toward community needs. There are some suggestions for incorporating CBR perspectives into education, particularly through the creation of practice placement opportunities. (Pollard, 2007)
[Text ID: @lasanga95 Ohoho please tell me the reasons i would love to hear them! /end ID]
Okay so originally I stated it's because of the worlds 1) amatonormativity (this includes allonormativity and sexism/sexualization) and 2) Midoriya's bullying. But since you want to hear more I am literally going to go all out on Midoriya's interactions with his peers, personality, and belief system, because I haven't stopped thinking about this in so fucking long.
Okay so first of all, since MHA is set within a society in which:
There were forced marriages in the past before quirks and in the beginning between powerful quirk users (EX: Enji buying Rei's family forcing marriage to create the Todoroki siblings)
Popularity of heroes based on their sexual and aesthetic appeal (EX: Mount Lady, Midnight, Ryuky, Uwabami, etc)
Students that have expressed romantic/sexual desire (EX: Denki towards other female students)
Romantic Humor used to other's advantages (EX: Ms. Joke)
Disrespectful perverse physical desire (EX: Mineta)
There is solid foundation of people experiencing romantic and sexual desire that it's common and the focus for news, stories, and gossip within in-world media. It's part of a maturing individual's life and there are a diverse range of experiences and takes on it. Most girls and woman are placed within revealing and appealing clothing to ensure the spotlight and the basic feminine normalcy.
So we know for sure that there are people who experience sexual and romantic attraction within the show, following it's reflection of real life this means there is also the possibility for any person in the show to be on the a-spectrum.
This is confirmed since there are cisgender individuals as well as canon transgender people such as Tiger and Big Sis Magne. If they acknowledge queerness in a canon capacity it only makes it more likely that other characters, intentionally or not, will have queer characteristics as well.
Does this mean if there weren't canon queer characters it would make the likelihood much less likely? Not really, but it's important, especially with how characters react to others with those traits. Real people have differing reactions, weather from queerphobia, internalized or not, to ignorance. No one in class 1-A nor LOV seem to express this from my last few rewatches from season 1-5 and the first two movies.
HOWEVER!!
There is still discrimination we personally HAVE seen and it's shown through bullying and the dehumanization of people without quirks. This is heavily placed on Midoriya through his entire history of childhood and even after he acquires OFA from Almight. The most prominent examples being Melissa, David's daughter who was also born quirkless, and the Shimano kiddos when feeling powerless. There are also plenty of quirks being discriminated against because of what they are, the affects they have on a person, and the societal ideas of them (EX: LOV, Shinso, etc)
We're told at the very beginning that Midoriya learns at 4 years old that not all men are created equal, that he has been ostracized since elementary school for something he couldn't control and is put off when, in UA, Bakugo is instead teased and put down out of misunderstanding than Midoriya himself.
Not only is this perfect symbolism and allegory for a lot of marginalized groups, but I feel like is perfectly connected to Queerness and Disability (A whole 'nother post I could make on that). But I feel like it has actual direct story consequences AND reasons as to why Midoriya is AroAce canonly.
*Cracks my knuckles* OKAY NOW WE START WITH THE REALLY DEEP EXPLAINING THAT FOCUSES MORE ON MIDORIYA THAN WORLD BUILDING AND ITS AFFECTS ON CHARACATERS!!
First of all, the first characteristic we get of Midoriya's sexuality is when he first meets Uraraka and gets flustered repeatedly in interactions with her. I believe there are multiple reasons for this:
M/F relationships are normal and expected out of developing children since it's literally the pool of changes and puberty
Midoriya knows the importance of sexual appeal and aesthetics of hero work and notes this in every. single. notebook on heros
He has been bullied for most of his life, he most likely hasn't encountered long-lasting positive encounters with the opposite sex and so acts accordingly: Giggly, flustered, and unsure
Now I've seen some people interpret this as him being heterosexual and into Ururaka but I interpret it very differently. You see, a lot of people in class 1-A are focused on becoming pro-heros, but there are still kids who explore their sexuality and romantic attraction multiple times and frequently with classmates and just in general as I've listed before. A lot of classmates fawn over possible relationships, going out on dates, aware of sexual themes and so on and so forth.
Out of all these characters in class 1-A, Midoriya has no history of this outside of being flustered with half-nudity, kindness, and compliments from his girl counterparts. Even Bakugo in the first season was offered to go someplace to pick up girls before being attacked by the sludge monster and other classmates were jealous over Sugar Rush for gaining the girls attention with his cooking.
As stated before: Midoriya never gets these kinds of interactions, not even really small ones, they usually go unnoticed or prompted from someone else or a realization of a situation. He QUITE LITERALLY never is seen expressing any sort of desire for relationships or sexual desire.
This is only further highlighted by his personality and how much he treats everyone as his equal, with respect, and isn't dense nor is he dumb. He knows what people are trying to do and want to do to him or around him, but brushes it off or moves onto things that are much more important to him. He adores everyone he comes across, he is exceptionally passionate about caring for others to the point of self sacrifice.
I believe he is the opposite of a loveless aroace, he isn't removed from love or doesn't experience it, but experiences platonic and other tertiary forms of adoration that IS SO ingrained in who he is that it's seen as A Midoriya Thing.(tm) He has no issue showing emotion and affection, no fear of loving too much.
He just- he has the characteristics and vibes of someone who loves the entire world and wants to protect it and all of those he cares for but doesn't experience the desire to have sexual intimacy or romantic intimacy either. He seems more than fulfilled by his choice in career, path in life and those around him.
I mean, come on, this guy literally was bullied for years and still chose to care and follow Bakugo because he admires him so much.
It just makes so much fucking sense.
I feel like canonly Midoriya is aroace and I have so many reasons why but they are all perfectly summed up with amatonormativity present in mha and a life of bullying affecting a person and their choices and how well they know themselves or what it means to them
Cartoons Aren't Just Bright Colors — There's A Lot Of Connection There For Kids.
Are you sick of singing the “Hot Dog Dance” and the Bubble Guppies theme song? Maybe wondering when your kiddo will grow out of cartoons and into something less mind-numbing-yet-catchy? Well, there are reasons why kids love cartoons so much, but there’s also hope for when they’ll transition into big kid shows and when Ghostbusters will actually hold their attention.
Tiffany Mann, a certified child life specialist at Providence Health & Services, tells Romper in an interview that your child's age affects what kinds of TV shows and movies they enjoy. Cartoons are animated to cater to what their young brains need to develop and grow.
"Cartoons are characterized by vibrant colors, varied degrees of movements, simple themes or messages for children to understand, shorter duration, varied sounds, and other stimuli that interest children,” Mann says.
She also notes that, like adults, children gravitate towards shows they can relate to. So the characters in cartoons are often children themselves, or animals, creatures, cars, or trains that act like children. "Children are pulled in as cartoons explore developmentally appropriate themes — like kindness, being a good friend, resilience, what to do when scared, and so on — or build off of the vast imagination of children, such as being a doctor or a princess, flying an airplane, or going to space.”
So, while all the bright colors and happy toon critters can keep your child glued to the TV, Mann says their connection to the characters is what will keep them coming back for the next episode. And they don’t have to be singing mice or talking trains for that to happen.
“I’ve noticed what keeps children engaged is connection to the child on the other side of the screen, whether animated or not. A paramount example is Fred Rogers in Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood who did a remarkable job of keeping children engaged, allowing children to feel noticed with simple gestures and reactions, prompts and praise, and so forth. The same can be said for Sesame Street," she says.
And you're probably seeing a whole lot of cartoons as screen time is only increasing during COVID-19 social distancing. For toddlers and preschool-aged children, Mann recommends series like these to get through the quarantine period:
Sesame Street: “In addition to regular series, the Sesame Street site has specific themes related to washing hands, talking about a virus, etc.”
Daniel Tiger: “In addition to the regular series, the PBS website offers support for parents in comforting and educating their children about healthy habits during this time.”
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: “Some episodes can touch more on current themes, including that of patience, being a helper, and listening to your parents.”
Doc McStuffins: “This show can help promote conversation about gratitude towards health care workers, along with themes of compassion and safety.”
Paw Patrol: “Amongst many themes in this show, teamwork stands out in a time where it is essential that we’re all in this together.”
For kiddos in elementary school, Mann says to check out Teen Titans Go!, DC Superhero Girls, and Wild Kratts. No matter what age your littles, she adds that it’s important for parents to keep an eye on what kinds of shows their kids watch.
“Like any media content, parents should still filter what their children and teens are watching. During this time where inconsistency is the new norm and fear is portrayed through social media and news outlets, it is important to weave in shows that have themes of resilience, teamwork, and courage, while also having shows that touch on our real-time challenges.”
Caregiver!Olivia Benson
I did another one on CG!Olivia here a longggg time ago when I was first starting out, but time to do more!
TW: Brief Mention of William Lewis, Presumed Death- skip from Rollins to SVU.
- just. wow. She has strong mama vibes constantly.
- You two, especially when you’re tiny, will go out and do little things together. She’ll take you to the park, the movies, even out down to the deli to grab a quick donut on those cold fall mornings.
- A lot of physical affection from her, a ton of head pats and cuddles in particular if you want to be touched!
- She’ll plan little activities for you to do at home that are safe for kiddos if she gets called onto a case last minute and you’re tiny, and she can’t get ahold of anyone both of you decide to trust with your regression - she calls it the activity box!
- Bedtime stories are a must, her voice is so soothing and calming. She’ll lie in bed with you, and read you the story- and then she’ll tuck you in and make sure you have allll of your stuffies and kiss you on the forehead before telling you good night.
- she’ll meal prep for you, especially since she never knows when she’ll get called out in a case, which makes you feel even tinier
- she’ll call you all sorts of nicknames, some of her favorites include little love, Prince/Princess, baby, and a ton of more sweet ones!
- As loving as she is, she’s firm in her rules. She sets them to keep you safe and cared for, and you’d better have a very good reason for breaking them or she’s going to be sad : (
- Olivia worries a little bit about the way she was raised and her parents and if she acts like them towards you. It takes a TON of reassurance from both big and little you and a few of your friends in the community but her worries subside.
- If you’re in the NYPD with Olivia, she’s nervous. You both know the dangers of the job, but she still worries about you. If you get hurt, she’ll fuss over you both in and out of little space.
- She’ll buy little gear for you every now and then as a tiny surprise or reward, usually a new toy or paci.
- When it comes to telling SVU, you both are very guarded about who you tell. As much as both of you love the entire unit, you’ve both been through too much to trust all of them with the biggest secret in both of your lives.
- If you’re her little in 1.0, Elliot, Alex, and Cragen know.
- Elliot because he’s been Liv’s partner for the longest time- and both of them know everything about the other, including the parts they’d rather forget. It was kind of impossible to not tell him.
Alex finds out kind of naturally- you both are close to her, and one night she shows up unexpectedly when you’re tiny regarding a case. It leads to an awkward conversation, but Alex is pretty accepting. As long as you’re not hurting yourself or others, she’s okay with it. She kind of slowly becomes an aunt to you.
Cragen finds out when you get admitted to an hospital because of an injury, and Liv drops everything to be there with you. He comes to find her to tell her she has the next little bit off, and walks in on Olivia caring for you at her apartment after you’re released.
- In 2.0, Rollins and Fin are the only ones who know.
Fin is actually the first person both of you agree on telling since Elliot. Everyone that knows other then Olivia has left and moved on from SVU, and both of you figure you probably should tell someone within the unit just in case something happens.
Rollins finds out when William Lewis happens. You’d been out of town on a different case, and you’d come back right in the middle of the case. No matter how desperately you try to hold on, when everyone is thinking Olivia is dead- you break down after hours in the bunks when you thought it was just you and Fin. He tries to soothe you, but it’s been several years since he’s had a child- so he’s struggling. Rollins walks in to find a teary eyed kiddo and a very concerned Fin. After a brief explanation, she takes over and succeeds. There’s of course a few questions for you and Liv after, and Rollins starts to take a little more involvement- especially after she leaves SVU.
- Olivia will call you periodically if she’s at work, and she knows you’re home and little to make sure you’re okay.
- She’s very cautious about your safety. Her apartment is baby proofed. She doesn’t want you to be hurt after all!
- All in all, she’s an excellent caregiver. You both love the other a TON.
Here is the first one if anyone wants to check it out btw : )
Hi so I’m not sure if you still take requests but if you do can I ask for anything caregiver Olivia Benson? There’s nothing on her being a cg and she just gives off mama vibes so strong 😭
Absolutely anon! I will absolutely get that up and written for you asap, just I’m a bit busy atm! You should see it soon!
The little princess
Pairing: Haitani brothers x younger sister reader
Genre: Fluff, crack
Word count: 2.3k
Warnings: Canon divergent, ooc, profanity, Shion is a fucking moron, teaching kids swearing, if you’re one of those people who thinks platonic affection between siblings is weird please go away
pt. 1
Shion was only a tad bit salty that he was the only Tenjiku member to never be allowed to be left alone with you - with the exception of Hanma and Kisaki, Ran banned that in a heartbeat.
It’s not like you’d spontaneously combust and die on the spot under his watch, and come to think of it, he wasn’t even allowed to pick you up or throw you in the air as Mochi and Mucho did, Izana banned him from that personally, under the guise of, and, this is, in fact, the direct quote from the King himself:
“Madarame, you were born next to a nuclear power plant, got an IQ of 2 and got hit in the head with several rocks as a child. How do you expect us not to think you’ll kill y/n purely on accident?”
As if it was his fault the doctor dropped on the head upon birth.
At least you seemed fascinated by his tattoos, so he had that going on.
He huffed, not even noticing that Rindou, who was probably babysitting Shion more than he was babysitting you, excused himself to the bathroom, figuring leaving you alone with Shion for 3 minutes, tops, won’t hurt anyone if Ran and Izana don’t find out.
Oh, how wrong he was.
“Mr. Shion, why do you look mad?” You toddled up next to him, looking up in curiosity.
“Your brothers never wanna leave you with me alone. Or let me do your hair, even if Hanma is allowed to do your hair, and Ran hates him.” He absentmindedly booped your nose, sighing.
“Oh. Why?”
“Well, Ran just has a bad feeling about Hanma, apparently-“
“No, Mr. Shion, why don’t brothers let you watch me?”
Shion huffed, annoyed, pulling on the edge of your coat to straighten it out.
He personally thought he’d make a great older brother.
“They probably think I’d accidentally kill you. Or teach you a bad word.”
“Bad word? What is that?”
“Words kids under 10 can’t say.”
“Why?”
“They’re bad words.”
“Like what?”
“Fuck, bitch, cunt, probably?”
You tilted your head in utter confusion, causing the bow Kakucho fixed to your hair earlier to slip.
“Fuck? What does that mean?”
Shion knew, at that moment, that he fucked up.
“Don’t say that word!” Panicked, he glanced around, sighing in relief when no one else was around to hear you speak profanity.
“Fuck? Why?”
“No- Kiddo, you just can’t, wait until you’re older.”
“Is fuck like tattoos? Rinnie said I can’t get those until I’m older as well!”
“Please stop saying that word-“
You suddenly perked up, looking behind Shion with a grin.
“Ran!” Giggling, you sprinted past Shion to attach yourself to Ran’s leg, nuzzling your face into his thigh.
“Hi princess.” Ran gently fixed the bow on your head, offering you a small pat on the back.
Shion gulped, a sheepish smile on his face as he turned around to look at the eldest Haitani.
“Hi. Ran.”
Ran stood behind him with murder in his eyes and baton ready.
“Madarame.”
“You goin’ for a nap?” A small voice asked, the child’s head barely reaching the edge of his bed.
Ran smiled, turning to peer over the edge and into the face of the small girl, looking up at him with bright eyes.
Rindou took charge of her hair and clothes this morning, which meant she was wearing a frog onesie that was absolutely too big for her, almost swallowing her tiny frame, and sporting the single hairstyle Rindou ever really picked up, one that included two tiny braids on each side and an ungodly amount of butterfly clips.
Come to think of it, the hairstyle made her look a little like Ran when he was younger, and at this point, he had to wonder if Rindou did that on purpose.
“Yes, princess. Wanna nap too?”
Nodding fiercely, his younger sister gave a valiant attempt with trying to get up the bed on her own, but after a few failed tries where Ran merely looked on in amusement, she gave up, pouting and raising her hands towards him in a worldwide recognised motion for ‘Up!’
Slipping his hands underneath her armpits, he hoisted her up, much to her delight.
The one problem was, he continued holding her up, arm’s length away, grinning as she wrinkled her nose, pouting again, crossing her arms.
“Put me down?”
“No. You’re adorable when you get pouty.”
“Ran!”
He finally seated her on his lap, cooing as he kissed the top of her head. Carefully so as to not tug on her hair, he started removing the butterfly clips, setting them on his nightside table, to ensure they don’t break or tangle her hair during their nap.
“You’ll be a big girl soon, and big brother won’t be able to pick you up at all! So I wanna while I can.” Smiling softly, he pinched her cheek, softly ticking her neck in the process, making her squirm as she giggled, tryna push his hands away.
“That can’t be, Ran and Rinnie will always be able to pick me up.” Decisively nodding, she grinned up at him, “You’re both so tall and strong! I’m sure you’ll be able to pick me up in 10 years when you’re old and grey too!”
Tilting his head, Ran chuckled in amusement, finally removing the last clip before getting to unbraiding her braids.
“Baby, how old do you think Rindou and I are? We won’t be old nor grey in 10 years.”
“Oh,” Frowning in a way eerily similar to Rindou, the girl shook her head, “No, you’ll definitely be grey. You say I give you grey hairs whenever I wander off somewhere!”
“You know what, fair point.”
Finally finished with her hair, he ruffled it softly, giving her a peck on the forehead when she turned around to face him.
“We can sleep now?” Excitedly, she attempted to wrap her arms around his waist, but they proved to be too short for the task, much to her disappointment.
“Yes, princess, we can.” Finally laying down, y/n curled up on his chest, almost like a cat, warranting another chuckle out of the older man as he adjusted his arms to hold her, ensure she won’t fall.
Both of them were out like a light in mere seconds, not noticing Rindou calling out Ran’s name as he entered the room in search of his phone charger.
Quickly shutting up when he saw the sight, he chuckled, leaving to retrieve his polaroid camera, coming back to snap a quick shot of the two.
A soft smile made its way on his face as he watched it develop, showcasing Ran, more serene than he ever was awake, and y/n, her mouth slightly opened and hair tousled, her entire body gently moving up and down with each rise and fall of Ran’s chest, looking content and safe in her elder brother’s arms.
Leaving his glasses, the camera and the developed polaroid on Ran’s desk, Rindou cautiously crawled in under the covers, hoping to not disturb the two.
Ran, still asleep, extended his arm so it went over the side of the bed, opening a space for Rindou to settle in.
Rindou nestled up against Ran’s side, curling within himself as Ran unconsciously turned to his side, throwing an arm over both of his siblings as y/n slipped from his chest into the space between her brothers.
Rindou closed his eyes, relaxing his muscles, revelling in the comforting sound of Ran’s heartbeat and y/n’s even, steady breathing.
No matter what happens, his siblings will always feel like home.
“These look pretty.” Kokonoi commented, his fingers softly passing over the petals of a large bouquet displayed in the store.
Kakucho was merely a few feet away, curiously looking at ornaments.
“No, those aren’t the right flowers.” The small girl shook her head, nervously tapping her foot against the marble floor of the flower shop as she waits for a worker to come around, her hand extended to hold Kokonoi’s pinkie.
A worker finally appears, a smiling man with a pink apron and a neat ponytail.
He looks at Koko when he asks how may he help him, but you respond instead, politely saying ‘Excuse me?’ to draw his attention towards you.
“Hi, sweetie.” Smiling, the florist crouches down, clearly attempting hard to not coo at the small child sporting such a serious expression.
Kokonoi could understand, Ran has really outdone himself this morning when he dressed you up, braiding your hair into an intricate pattern resembling a halo, a purple heart-shaped clip, matching the colour of your frilly dress, holding back the few loose strands trying to escape.
You were cute enough to even coax out a smile from Mikey when he saw you this morning, politely asking him if he wanted some of your dorayaki.
“I’ll need two bouquets, please! One with purple orchids, and one with bluebells! Could you add a ‘Happy Father’s day’ card on both too, sir, pretty please?” Reciting as Kakucho and Kokonoi practised with you this morning, you looked up at Koko for approval.
He smiled, nodding.
“Why, aren’t you adorable? Are they for your daddies?” The florist got to work right away, grabbing flowers and snipping various ribbons as he started putting together the bouquets.
“No, my brothers!” Beaming, the girl was bouncing on the balls of her feet, excited whenever the worker asked her opinion about the colour of ribbons and glitter.
When you shyly asked Kokonoi a month ago, after he picked you up from school, if there were any chores for you to do so you could earn a little money, he was confused, after all, Ran and Rindou bought you everything you as much as laid your eyes on without a question, what could you possibly want that they didn’t want to buy you?
You shook your head, explaining that Father’s day is approaching, and when you said you wanted to surprise your brothers with bouquets, it took all of his self-restraint to not pull his wallet out of his pocket and empty out its content into your hands immediately, the idea so utterly adorable he agreed in a heartbeat.
He tried offering you to just give you the money, but you refused, polite as ever, shaking your small head and explaining how it had to be earned, after all, your brothers worked so hard and took such good care of you that it would be unfair to just accept a charity.
He agreed, and if the other Kanto Manji Gang executives saw you around with a tiny broom Kokonoi bought specifically for you (he feared the average sized one would fall on you and crush you), they didn’t question it, more often than not cooing when you refused any help instead.
Kokonoi offered you to name your price, and the comically small amount you chose was nowhere enough to actually pay for a bouquet, let alone two, but that wasn’t an issue, he’d shoulder the rest of the cost with no regrets.
The florist finished both bouquets after about ten minutes, and Kokonoi assumed you’d be bored by then, but you stood and waited, your impatience only showing by the way you started tugging on his coat, silently asking to be picked up.
Kakucho appeared just in time to pick you up instead, your small arm dutifully wrapping around his neck as he adjusted to support your weight and so you could still look at the florist, Kokonoi paid with the money you gave him earlier, and he allowed you to hold one of the bouquets, even if the comically large flower arrangement made it so you disappeared behind the vivid, soft flowers.
He picked up the other, and bidding the florist goodbye, they were on their way.
Kokonoi and Kakucho both secretly couldn’t wait for Ran’s and Rindou’s reactions.
“Hey, thanks for watching her, she really wanted to go with you two for some reason today-“ Ran opened the doors, looking as if he has just woken up, raising an eyebrow as he observed the two men standing in front of it, a lack of his younger sister obvious.
Ah, there you were, hiding behind Kakucho’s coat, small giggles escaping you as Koko and Kakucho both shielded you from Ran’s keen gaze.
“You should call Rindou.” Smiling softly, Kakucho took a step inside right after Kokonoi, closing the doors.
Still sceptical, Ran obliged, leaving briefly to drag his brother out of his room.
“What is it?” Impatiently, Rindou tapped his foot, his headphones halfway down his ears.
“Surprise.” Softly exclaiming in unison, Kakucho and Kokonoi parted, revealing you holding the two bouquets.
The bouquets were bigger than you, but you still insisted on being the one to hold them.
“Happy Father’s day!” Beaming, you took a clumsy step towards your brothers, holding out each of their respective bouquet towards them, “Thank you for taking care of me, and cuddling me when I have nightmares, and for never getting angry with me when I break something!”
Ran and Rindou kneeled down to be on eye level with you in sync, each of them taking the bouquet off your hands
“Thank you, sweetie.” Ran pulls you towards him to pepper kissed on your face, grinning wide with a soft expression.
“I bought orchids for you because your name means orchid! And Rinnie’s name means bluebell, so he got bluebells!”
Rindou does the same as soon as Ran lets you go, holding you in a firm hug.
“Thank you, princess.” Whispering, Rindou buries his face into your shoulder, the tiny space not doing much to actually hide it.
Ran’s soft smile turns into a shit-eating grin.
“Aw, Rin, you crying?”
“ShUT THE FUCK UP!”
You beamed.
“Fuck!”
Daily ZenNezu Brainrot with yours truly, Tsuki!
One thing that always boggles my mind is when KNY fans say Zenitsu and Nezuko are a ‘rushed ship’, or ‘weren’t written well’.
In hindsight…they were! Gotouge San took great pride in this relationship, and wrote them very well. And here’s why!
Zenitsu, a broken boy— No familiarity with…well, family!
Being an orphan, it’s no surprise he pinned for women quite often. He acted out of pure desperation, opening his heart to anyone and everyone who would dare show him an ounce of affection. The poor boy didn’t know much better, thus being an target with easy vulnerability for women to manipulate.
When he saw Nezuko, sure, his boyish giddiness took quite a turn on overdrive, but a part of me feels that Nez served as a goal for him. I think it heavily has something to do with his respect towards Tanjiro. He described the Kamado’s sound as ‘gentle’. Knowing Tanjiro was willing to die for whatever was in that box, it changed Zenitsu’s perspective quite a bit. (What a sweet boy.) So, knowing how important Nezuko was, gave him a sense of responsibility— to fight hard in the name of his beloved, whether or not she would actually return to a human. (Which, in my opinion, makes it so much cuter. To him, it didn’t matter if she was a demon or not.)
Now, onto Nezuko!
Nezuko, a broken girl who lost the ONLY thing she knew: family!
It was made clear that the Kamado’s were in fact ‘country bumpkins’, just a bunch of oblivious kiddos who’s social circle was very small.
Now, we weren’t given the perspective of Nezuko’s reaction to the loss of her family right off the bat. Her dazed out demon state can be hard to read, but after Urokodaki’s hypnosis (?), she uses the image of her family when relaying protection for strangers. Tanjiro also stated in a Taisho secret how her siblings looked up to her greatly, Nezuko being the light in the dark times they’ve been through.
With that in mind, it’s no doubt Nezuko lost a part of herself following the death of her family.
Back to what this has to do with Zenitsu…
A taisho secret revealed that, when reverting back to human form…the blurred memories of Zenitsu saving her made her heart beat faster.
Even in her flashbacks leading up to the completion of her transformation, a panel of Zenitsu was shown.
He was the light in her darkness!
All that time spent in a demonic fog, the presence of the giddy blonde boy kept her company. This statement is even stronger when you realize the many times Zenitsu spent time with her to make Nez feel included, such as the goldfish viewing (taisho secret), flower field (light novel) and the many times he would sit by her box spewing about his daily happenings.
…What point am I getting to?
Zenitsu and Nezuko complete each other. They’re both the missing halves to broken hearts.
Think about it:
Nezuko, a girl with strong heart, who lost her family. And Zenitsu, a boy with a healing heart, who hasn’t had a family. Its a harmonizing balance.
Nezuko and Zenitsu alike became their sense of family for each other. He was able to open his heart to her, with no judgement nor manipulation— her presence serving as family. She was able to lean on him, giving her hope—his presence serving as family.
Its great chemistry.
(And with the thought that Nezuko was a bit oblivious to love, while Zenitsu had a clear understanding of it, only makes Zennezu have a cuter dynamic. Both of them are shy cuties who forget how to form coherent sentences when around each other.)
🌸🌼
I headcanon that, during Tanjiro’s bedridden woes post Muzan battle, Nezuko would sit by his bedside and ask him very…awkward questions.
“Onii-Chan, what does being in love feel like?”
Maybe I’ll do a headcanon post later on.
Credits to Petite Kimetsu on TWT for the clear scan of this!
Reader gets scared to come out as gay/lesbian to your Dad, Matt Murdock, because you hear about overly religious parents kicking there kid out. Of course, Matt accepts them🏳️🌈🥰
This…this right here is amazing—I love it.
I was really really excited to write this so I hoped it turned out how you were expecting! I included a nice little verse that all homophobic/transphobic Christian parents seem to forget exists when it comes to kicking their children out.
**I do not own any characters or part of the franchise from Daredevil**
Pairing: father!Matt Murdock x son!reader
Summary: look at request
Genre: familial comfort/platonic fluff
Tw: bible verse at beginning, mentions of homophobia
Bravery
“Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
1 Timothy 5:8
It was a big day. Scratch that—it was a HUGE day. A week or so ago you decided that your dad needed to know about your sexuality.
So that’s what lead you here. Sitting on the couch, trying to control your breathing, and feeling more anxious than you ever have in your life.
You were so worked up because you knew kids who had come out to their religious parents and gotten kicked out. Matt didn’t seem like the type but you were never sure; which came first you or his faith?
Three hours ago you texted your dad telling him that you needed to talk to him when he got home. He asked if everything was alright and you responded with something along the lines of “it’s not serious but it’s important”.
You checked the clock.
‘Five minutes till he gets home.’
Your heart spiked at that so you tried to focus on your breathing some more.
You heard footsteps coming towards the front door and the lock clicking unlocked. Matt opened the door.
“Hey, Kid? What’s got you all worked up?” He asked gently, closing the door and setting his work stuff down on the kitchen counter.
“I just…need to talk to you.” You said quietly.
Your dad nodded and sat down on the couch near you. He turned to face you, even if he couldn’t technically see you.
“So what’d you wanna talk about?” He prodded.
You gulped and let out a shaky breath.
“U-um—well…I just—“ you breathed out again.
“Hey kiddo, calm down. Whatever it is, I’m not mad.” He took your hands in his.
You began to cry.
“Is this…something about who you like?” He worded it carefully.
You sobbed and nodded.
“I-I’m gay—“ You cut yourself off with another sob.
Your dad hugged you.
“Oh kiddo. I’m not mad at all.” He comforted you and rubbed your back.
He pulled back to look at you. He took off his glasses and grabbed your hands.
“I am so so proud of you. You are so brave.” He squeezed your hands reassuringly.
You rubbed your eyes and sniffled.
“Thank you, Dad.” You said.
“I’m not going to kick you out for something you can’t change. I love you, and you like men. There’s no reason it should affect our relationship. You’re my son and I’m your father. This is what fathers do.” He kissed your forehead.
“Now let’s go somewhere and celebrate.” He smirked. You laughed and nodded.
“Let’s.”
It’s so funny to me when straight people are like “there is no way Kirk and Spock could have been in love/married, they would have no reason to hide it!” And I’m like... yeah in-universe sure but did it ever occur to you that these episodes/movies were um... not made in the 23rd century? In the 60s, homosexuality was a mental illness. It could completely destroy your life. It was illegal to be gay in the 70s and 80s in many places in the US. This is the environment in which this show was made.
Did you expect them to tearfully confess their love and start making out? Bro if we can’t even get a main gay character in a family friendly mainstream franchise now what makes you think that would have happened then? And especially since they are cultural icons and the entire franchise revolved around their story. I can’t even imagine a popular, commercialized franchise having their leading gents fall in love today. The near ubiquitous disgust towards gay people during that era is something that is sort of lost on us kiddos sometimes.
Kirk and Spock are so culturally significant because they represent the first characters that a generation of queer people saw themselves in. Media rep is important, and this was absolutely an important first step in the shifting of a culture. Intentional or not. Heck, my uncle even admitted to me that those two singlehandedly made him reevaluate his homophobia. He confessed that when he saw the sickbay scene for the first time, he was struck by the deep love they had for each other. And he saw the beauty in that. Why should it matter if they’re two guys?
The fact that they even came up with the concept of “t’hy’la” or included lines like “Jim, this simple feeling is beyond V’Ger’s comprehension,” “I’ve spent a lifetime learning to hide my feelings,” “I have been and always shall be yours,” and the whole “noblest part of myself, I’m responsible for his soul” thing (and the entire plot of The Search for Spock tbh, which is legit just “dude rescues the love of his life by sacrificing everything”) was incredibly bold. If they hadn’t thrown in the words “friend” or “brother” it would be extremely difficult to interpret these moments in a way that wasn’t romantic. And thus, their affection was confined to meaningful looks and layers of subtext.
They seriously went as hard as they could have given era. Depicting them as being explicitly in love would have been impossible. Star Trek takes place in the future, but it is limited by the social conventions of the era in which it is made.
