He blames the fuck out of Izuru and Akon for getting him addicted to the game—and worse, excited about a bunch of pixels. But he is, so excited. He joins the fanfiction contest for you (and wins). And he sacrifices half a week of lunches to pull you. Your phone charm is proudly displayed. He is wrangled into even more debt to Urahara for the merch conversion.

Rangiku Matsumoto:

She saw Shuhei’s phone charm, thought it was really cute, and loves the idea of a phone game to pass the time during all the time passing she does on the clock. She gets you on her first pull and shows Shuhei. “Look, it’s just like your cute little phone charm!” Her rng luck is so insane that both Shuhei and Izuru have her pull for them (it doesn’t rub off).

Nanao Ise:

Although she very much did not appreciate Rangiku downloading a game on her phone, she did give it a chance. In secret. Facing away from any windows. She doesn’t care much for the gacha aspect, but finds the game play passable. She diligently does her dailies & events and that’s it. It’s alright stress relief. You go unpulled.

Shunsui Kyoraku:

Shunsui easily finds his way into Nanao’s phone and discovers your game sitting right next to a shogi app. He downloads it and is delighted by all the characters! He doesn’t understand how to play but skids through the tutorial. He pulls for you, fails, and doesn’t understand how to pay for currency. He does take a screenshot of you and ask Nanao ‘Let me borrow them from you!’ He barely escapes alive.

Harribel Tier:

Shunsui flaunts your game around in their monthly Peace meeting and she demands an upgraded soul phone. Much like Shunsui, she doesn’t understand the game. But she wants to pull for you. Her three adjuchas bicker endlessly over small print until they figure out how to pull and the most effective way to pull in consideration to chance percentages. She treats you like a tamagotchi (that needs no care and doesn’t die).

everything's all fine and dandy in a fight against killer (no it isn't) until you see him glitching around and somehow phasing through your attacks. he looks ridiculous but it gets the job done

in 1, nothing you do ever gives u a sense of success or accomplishment, u killed people, u killed aleins but u have so much more to do. its an empty feeling, oh u killed the tentacles? cool go down the hole, dog urself deeper into this mess. oh you killed the gargantua and turned on the railway? go down deeper into the water and blood deeper into the bowels of the beast you created of the facility. you kill the nihilanth and u look up at the fireworks knoeing you are going to die, you cannot escape the explosion and the mess youve created. ur pulled from the mess and you are told you have guranteed urself a future of killing and endless battles or a battle u can never win. mothing you do matter none of it is worth anything. you are cold and alone and soaked in blood and people are only getting more scared

but in 2 the mood shifts, the smallest battles give people hope for a future. you can kill even a few soldiers and even if you do have to go deeper, the people around you cheer, if only for a moment, theyre alive and breathing and so are you. so many things yo do youre asked to do them again and again and each time these people are excited, thwyre grasping for a semblance of hope til thwir nails bleed and they cheer becuz they are alive and in the sun and watching their breath freeze as they cheer in the cold air of the mountains. the grass is green and growing and its more life than uve seen since before you moved to the middle of a desert to work in a concrete prison far from the warmth of the sun where it bakes all that it touches.

do you think gordon feels the happiness of the rebels? feels a sense of accomolishment in even the smallest thing he does? is he satisfied or fullfilled for helpjng these people? can he feel the sun warm the skin of his face and the bite of eastern european chill on his nose the way the rebels do? does he relish in that he is alive still? is he coming back? or do you think he still feels dull as he sinks deeper and deeper into the recesses of his mind and the concrete cage of balck mesa where his old life died?

potential sonic 3 spoilers incoming if anyone cares. anyway . apparently there was an official survey about the knuckles show/scu in general and one of the questions was about what name you would use for an eggman/shadow/gerald teamup. which is a weirdly specific question. and also one of the name options was team dark …….. ?? even though rouge isnt mentioned in the question and theres no sign of her being in the next movie in general ? i was willing to accept amy being introduced a little after knuckles and tails but between there still being no sign of her being in the next movie and now this if they actually have gerald time travel or something and have him be the third member of the dark story trio instead of rouge then i will be fully convinced that theyre going out of their way to exclude as many already existing girl characters as possible. like i get cgi is expensive which could be part of the reason rouge might not have made the cut. but damn . assuming this is real anyway it could just be another fake leak but idk

medieval chess au….? that sounds so cool

so originally i wanted to do some kind of historical au for chess set during the medieval era, but the more i looked into it the more i realized that trying to do something like that in a real world context while still keeping the same real world political context (apolitical chess is just not as interesting to me tbh) just wasn't going to work, so instead i decided to do what george r.r. martin did when he was writing game of thrones and use real world history (game of thrones was largely inspired by the war of the roses) and real world politics within the context of a fantasy setting, so the main conflict is still east vs west, but it's the eastern kingdoms vs the western kingdoms.

freddie is ser fredrick, the gilded lion, born and raised in the golden city (the main seat of power among the western kingdoms similar to king's landing, located by the sea) to become king, beloved by most while also being regarded as a petulant child that (seemingly) hasn't had to deal with any real hardship, and then across the emerald sea are the eastern kingdoms, a colder, harsher climate compared to the western kingdoms, which is where prince anatoly, the black prince (or the white wolf, depending on who you talk to), lives with his wife, svetlana, and his advisor, aleksander molokov, who himself was born in the small settlement of alexandrovitch, located just outside the black gates, which separates the northernmost mountain range and the freefolk lands from the rest of the southern kingdoms. florence, meanwhile, is ser florence, a former advisor and freddie's royal mistress whose family comes from the eastern kingdoms but grew up in the golden city before deciding she was fed up with her life and ran away to become a knight instead, and then other plot details that include things like anatoly abdicating the throne because he never wanted the responsibility of ruling a kingdom and leaving his wife to take over the responsibility instead as the czarina and her doing so knowing that there are people who depended on them for leadership and guidance (and honestly probably being better at it than he was), molokov secretly plotting to take over the throne for himself (having already earned himself the nickname of the wolf whisperer), freddie regularly competing in the tournaments held in the golden city and being a very capable warrior in his own right (he's big on jousting).

character development moment: i was very nearly overcome with a rare weakness to FOMO as literally all of my irl friends have been regularly playing that one trendy roblox fashion game together and i got as far as googling roblox with half-intent to finally download it and was only stopped when i looked up the game on twitter, immediately remembered that it's a game for children that a bunch of grown ass adults have fully taken over and made increasingly toxic for some reason, and also tbh just doesn't even look that fun or good in general and snapped out of it like Oh I'm Too Old For This

Rereading game of thrones has made me like. Really dislike the popular perceptions of margaery tyrell of like. This master manipulator and femme fatale because theres actually very little in the books that suggest that she is? While we get a bit of her and olenna (the like. Actual schemer...) through sansas chapters most of what we see of margaery is through cerseis chapters. And of course cersei thinks shes scheming and fucking her way through the castle because cersei is cersei. Its an extremely biased perspective on margaery but the show just kind of. Decided margaery is actually what cersei thinks of her. And thats just not the case. Like i dont think margaery is just. Chilling and doing nothing but everything we see of her shes literally just. Doing what a queen should and trying to support tommens rule to support herself and her familys position like. Cersei is just cersei.

Cherrypit opened his eyes.  The last thing he could remember was his sister hugging him and talking to him about what they were going to do once they arrived at their new home. After that, there was nothing. Nothing but the feeling of tumbling onto the ground.  “Mama? Papa?” He couldn’t see anyone near him. “Bebe?”  There was nothing more he wanted to do right now than sit down and cry. There was no one. He was all alone. What else could he do?! “M-Mama! Papa!” Cherrypit cried out. No one answered.  Then something told him to keep walking. Someone was waiting for him.

Cherrypit was absolutely sure that everyone he knew was invincible. 

He had been proven wrong before. With what happened with Ysayle and Haurchefant, even Moenbryda. But Cherrypit couldn’t see any of that. Even now, whenever he visited Ishgard with his sister and everyone he would save a plate of snacks for his friends who were running late. 

Who weren’t ever really going to arrive. 

No matter how much time passed Babycorn didn’t have the heart to tell him some of his friends weren’t ever going to come back. Sometimes she couldn’t even accept it herself. Babycorn already knew she wasn’t strong enough to tell Cherrypit the truth. 

She hoped one day she would be but for now nothing would change. 

Right now any of that couldn't be farther from Cherrypit’s mind. He was sad he couldn’t talk with his sister while he was trapped in her body but on the plus side he did get to go on a fun trip with everyone.

It was a place he had never seen before! There were a handful of times Cherrypit had almost wandered off chasing a butterfly or a bug that caught his eye. He had caught some conversations about how serious this trip was but none of it really sunk in.

Cherrypit was a simple kid. Almost all of it went over his head, but he did understand that there were bad people here doing more bad things and his friends were going to save a lot of people again!

“I wanna help!” Babycorn would have offered up to help too! Of course Cherrypit was going to do the same. 

By now most of the scions knew that Cherrypit’s strength wasn’t to be underestimated, but how much of that strength did he have while inside Babycorn’s body? Cherrypit couldn’t transform, he couldn’t even make those horrifying faces he loved to torment them with. The only way Cherrypit could fight back with was his magic, which was as terrifying as ever.

The only problem was that he was very unused to carrying a staff so big and ended up dropping it most of the time. “Whoops!” He cried, watching his new wand roll down the hill. 

It didn’t take very long for all of them to realize they were essentially babysitting. 

…But it was oh so hard for any of them to resist Cherrypit’s bright blue eyes, begging them to bring him along. Which is how he (and his brina doll) tagged along all the way to Rhalgr's reach.

Cherrypit hadn’t been allowed to go on lookout with some of the others. Instead he stayed behind and helped Krile with whatever fun assignment she and the twins gave him to distract him until it was time to move. The task of the night was putting some supplies away in crates. 

Though Cherrypit could defend himself more than the usual two-year old could. In the body of his sister he was more of a normal kid than he normally was. 

Ironically. 

Cherrypit had just finished putting away some rope when it happened. 

There was a loud sound that drew his attention away from his job. “Mmm?” He looked up, expecting to see one of his friends walking over his way. Maybe it was Lunya with some snacks again? Or Hanabi with a pretty flower to show him? Or maybe B’ig Nunh back from his trip! 

The possibilities were endless and made Cherrypit more excited than he’d ever been. Cherrypit stood himself up and ran towards the noise. He stopped only when he saw an imperial soldier staring right at him. 

Then another, and another, and another. 

In the chaos that followed Cherrypit managed to escape, but he didn’t get very far. 

He could hear familiar voices calling out his name but he couldn't get his body to move out from the crate he had jumped into to hide. There were so many loud noises around him. Explosions, screams, the crackling of fire. 

His weapon was right outside. All he needed to do was stop hiding and grab it. It would be so easy. 

There was another scream near him, and then the sound of someone hitting the ground. 

Cherrypit put his hands over his eyes. Surely whatever was going on outside would be over soon. Maybe it was just another nightmare, he had a lot of those sometimes. That’s why he didn’t like sleeping. They were never nice. 

But it would be okay. Because any second now Babycorn would show up and save him.

Right?

All of a sudden, Cherrypit’s hiding place shook. There was nothing to hold onto as it all collapsed down. A rush of air hit Cherrypit, as well the dirt on the ground. Everything was much louder now. Cherrypit pushed the crate off him, ignoring the stinging on his knees. 

It was dark, there were a lot of people lying on the ground near him. Most of them weren’t moving. There were still a lot of other people running around. A lot of people were fighting each other too. Cherrypit spotted his wand, just out of reach and still in the same place he had left it. 

No one seemed to pay him any mind as he slowly crawled his way over to grab it. 

He still had no idea what was going on. Had the bad guys attacked them here? That didn’t make any sense. Alisaie had told him that they were safe here. She wouldn’t lie. 

Cherrypit grabbed his wand, holding it like his life depended on it. Then there was another noise right behind him. It sounded scary. Everything in his body was telling him to not go that way, to go back and hide somewhere safe. Then there was another noise. This was someone that Cherrypit recognized. 

It was the sound of one of his friends. 

They must have been here to help! “Over here! I’m over here!” Cherrypit cried, with newfound strength, he ran towards where he had heard his friends. 

When he got there, his nightmare got even worse. 

The sight of his friends, everyone, struggling to stay standing made Cherrypit freeze where he stood. 

The big monster they were facing was still fighting back. They should have been able to win by now. Shouldn’t they? Lunya and Vertical were super strong! They should have been able to win with a single hit. But instead they were….hurt?

But that wasn’t right. None of this was right. It must have been another nightmare.

Cherrypit watched as the monster brushed aside Hanabi’s spells and Coco’s arrows. Like they were nothing. 

“S-Stop!”

Nothing was working! The monster was going to hurt his friends! 

The monster was going to cut them down! Just like before when he couldn’t stop it!

Just like…

Cherrypit ran forward and stood in between the monster and his friends. They had been blown away by a powerful attack, stunned and unable to move. “Stop it!” Cherrypit didn’t know where he had found the strength to act. There wasn’t a lot of it to begin with. Despite his words, he was shaking. 

It was clear that while he had the bravery to stand up to the monster, he wouldn’t be able to fight back.

“Don’t hurt them…” Cherrypit begged. 

Cherrypit heard the monster say something. Cherrypit was breathing so fast and his heart was racing, he didn’t hear a single word. But he could understand what the act of raising a sword meant. 

He heard someone say his name before it all went dark.
