She's wearing a black helmet with a small red stop sign on the front, red flowery sleeves and a black top underneath a blue collared vest with red and yellow cap sleeves. The Girl also has a funky red and blue layered belt made of a bunch of little circles over black pants and boots. She's got one arm pulled to her chest and the other is punching outwards towards the viewer. To her right and on the far left side of the page is Fun Ghoul, taking the place of Reneé Montoya. He's got light skin, short black hair with one buzzed side dyed red, though it kind of looks like blood o be honest, and tattoos on his hands. He's wearing a long-sleeved yellow shirt with a patch on the left shoulder under a dull green cargo vest. He's got a bright green ray gun in a brown holster which is slung across his body like a messenger bag, grey-green pants, and dark brown shoes. He looks sort of angry, has bent knees, and is holding his hands to his chest, like he's about to bare-knuckle box with someone. His left arm is up and bent in half, while his right arm is extend and is aiming a red ray gun at something off of the page.

Finally, on Party's left and the far right of the page is Jet Star, taking the place of the Black Canary, aka Dinah Lance. He's got a curly brown afro, medium brown skin and a determined expression on his face. He's wearing a black jacket with the edges of an American flag on the back, though I appear to have forgotten which direction it's supposed to go in when I was drawing it, and dark grey pants with black shoes. Both hands are wrapped around the handle of a dark blue ray gun, which is being pointed at something off of the page. Above his head in blue pen, is written "can they keep The Girl safe?" and below his feet "tactical spider" is written as a signature. Along the bottom of the page, DANGER DAYS is written in large, light pink block letters. The letters are stylized in the same rounded way as those on the Birds of Prey poster and, instead of having holes where it is normal to have holes in letters, there are a variety of symbols on the letters, including the black Danger Days spider, Fun Ghoul's green ghoul face symbol, the letters P J F K, Kobra's red snake face symbol, Party's pill symbol., and Jet's blue star symbol. “Neal?”

Peter hesitated as the door creaked open with the force of his knock. He frowned and brought his watch up to his face, he should be home by now.

He waited only another moment before gently pushing the door open wider and peering inside. Neal was one to keep things to himself, of course, but not even he would have enough energy to undertake extra circulars after that 14-hour stakeout.

Peter walked a few steps into his CI’s loft, brows staying pulled down in puzzlement as he spotted the man sitting at the dining room table, arms stained with charcoal up to the elbows, gently cradling a giant sketchbook.

“Didn’t you hear me knock?” Peter closed the distance quickly, craning his neck around the back of the chair to catch a glimpse of the sketchbook. Peter couldn’t help himself from shaking his head as he spotted the work, it was a portrait of Caffrey’s face, done up in swirls of different blues and purples.

Flawless as far as Peter could tell.

“I thought you didn’t have any original works?” Peter raised an eyebrow as he came around the side of the table, tossing his jacket onto the back of the closest empty chair.

Only then did Neal jump, and attempt to close the sketchbook. His semi-wild eyes found Peter, and once his brain registered what was happening, his shoulders slumped in relief and his hands relaxed. He swallowed hard, eyes moving back to the masterpiece in his hands, “I-It isn’t mine.”

Peter eased himself down onto the corner of the table, being sure to keep his tone careful, “Okay… who’s is it?”

“Kate’s.”

The word hung in the air between them for a long minute.

Peter did his best to keep the surprise he felt off his face. It’d been… what? Two or three years since the plane explosion. He glanced down to his CI - who wasn’t doing as good of a job at blinking back his tears as he thought - and cleared his throat, “How?”

Neal let out an exasperated sigh and gave a half-shrug, slightly lifting the book off the table, thumb tapping the signature and date in the bottom corner, “I was just digging through some of my old sketchbooks, trying to find one I could use and…” He slightly shook his head, fingers subconsciously tightening around the edges of the work, “It’s dated two weeks after I went to prison.”

Peter nodded thoughtfully - despite being out of Caffrey’s eyeline. “Your visitation rights were still getting ironed out, then.” He leaned in, taking a closer look at the art, “She’d called the prison every day at 9am like clockwork. Must’ve finally assumed she wouldn’t get to see you in person.”

Neal’s thumb gently swiped over her signature, eyes roaming over the image, “The yellowing of the page indicates it was left open in the sun.”

“I bet she had it open facing the bed, so you’d be the first thing she saw every morning.” At the look, Peter shrugged, “It’s what I do when El goes out of town.”

Neal turned semi-hopeful eyes back to the masterpiece, “Kate loved the classics.”

In Australia we have shows, kind of like what Americans call fairs. They show animals, farm animals, dogs, cats, that kind of thing.

I don’t know if fairs and stuff have what we call Show Bags. They’re like sample bags and you can buy them with lollies or chocolate, or toys and tv characters, or football teams or bands. So I think you probably know where I’m going with this.

I love all the fawning women in Kiss makeup down the bottom. I don’t think it’s even Kiss makeup. It’s just all white face and black eyeliner. They’re like geishas.

It’s funny coz the images on the items looks like it has Ace, but the tags are definitely the Tommy and Eric line up.

See? The image on the items is totally fantasy land anyway because no Kiss drummer was ever as tall as the others. Eric would need to be on stilts.

There’s a cool lenticular tumbler, it looks 3D in real life but you can’t get that in a photo.

prom night ~

You look at yourself in the mirror, looking at the strapless bra and panties you have on, as well as the underdress. You look over at that long, red dress you have, laying on the bed. Oh, he doesn’t know what it looks like yet, but you know Slash will love how you look in it. You can practically see his reaction, and the mental image puts a smile on your face.

After picking the dress up and holding it up in front of you in the mirror, you can practically see your arm linked with his, walking up to the high school and going to prom with him. You sit on the edge of your bed, kicking your feet and squealing. You’d always had the biggest crush on him, and having him ask you out to prom has always been a dream of yours. And it did! It happened!

You take in a few breaths, calming yourself down. After standing up off of the bed, you set the dress down and step into it and pull it up, the straps to the dress over your shoulders. The red dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you, and you smooth it out over your body. God, he’s gonna love this. A knock on your door is heard, and your mother opens the door and peeks inside.

“He’s here.” She gives you a gentle smile and closes the door. “Oh god, oh god, he’s here, he’s here!!” You think, looking back into the full-body mirror. After taking a few deep breaths, you enter the small pocket bathroom that’s in your bedroom and begin to do your makeup. A bit of eyeliner, mascara and a bit of black eyeshadow makes your eyes pop a bit, and you look at yourself, trying to fix any details you might’ve missed or messed up.

You quickly fix your hair, simply applying some hairspray and adjusting it around a bit. You look incredible and absolutely gorgeous as you look at yourself and apply some burgundy lipstick to match your dress. You turn around and look at yourself in the full-body mirror again and strut towards it, the red dress swishing as your hips move and the burgundy to red fades adds feature and makes the look pop.

After admiring how you look for a few moments, you latch on a necklace with a small red oval shaped charm at the end. You look at yourself for a moment, then slide on your red high heels. Beautiful, you look absolutely beautiful and you’re going to make his face turn a bright red.

After a brief pep talk, you open the door and leave the room, about to turn the corner to reach the top of the stairs. As soon as you do, you see that bundle of black curly hair at the bottom of the stairs, waiting in a fine and trim black suit with a rose in the pocket. The moment you pick your dress up and begin walking down the stairs, you catch Slash’s attention. From behind his locks, you can see his deep brown eyes widen as you walk down the stairs. His eyes look you up and down, admiring every last bit of how you look. Slash’s jaw falls open and he looks you up and down as his face turns a light shade of red as you walk down the stairs and towards him.

When you reach the bottom, his jaw is still dropped and his mouth is hanging open. Slash tries to speak, but all that can come out is stammers as he looks you up and down in that red and burgundy dress.

“I- Oh- Oh my-” Slash stammers, then swallows and blinks a bit, still looking you up and down. “You look absolutely gorgeous tonight.” He holds out his hand for you to take, which you do with a smile, as your fingers touch the fabric of the white gloves he’s wearing.

“After you, my darling.” Slash smiles and opens the door for you and you follow him out to his car, to finally go to prom with the man you’ve longed for so much. ~~~~~

So I was randomly going through the first episode trying to find the ghost Ai scene and I noticed something that wasn't in the manga…during the mini concert part where the twins do their ritual dance, there was also what looks to be white roses as congratulations…? It's around 35 minutes in, the only other person who we've seen so far use white roses in this franchise was Hikaru...unless those aren't white roses and I suck at recognizing flowers lol They did pause on those specific flowers though

So...! For anyone who didn't quite catch it as they watched, one of the establishing shots of the performance venue before the promo mini concert is of a huge bouquet of white roses.

They are directly center frame and the eyeline of the proceeding and following shots are all constructed to keep your eyes exactly in the middle where they will be.

These roses were something we briefly chatted about in the Oshi no Brainrot Discord when Nik (@akane-kurokawa) was kind enough to share some pics from the episode 1 storyboards but it wasn't until this ask that I went back to take a really good gander and realized some very interesting things.

First of all - you're correct that these are white roses, because the storyboard note here explicitly identifies them as such. In fact, it's the only thing it says; 'there's a flower offering of white roses at the bottom of the stairs'.

You'll also notice that the image here is basically just a grayscale version of the screencap above, which means it was fully rendered before the storyboards were even done. I'm not a hundred percent sure how early into episode production these would have been completely (aside from... you know... pretty fuckin early!) but these seem to have been done so early on in overall series production that a bunch of the settei hadn't even been finalized yet. Peep these scrunkly ass early B-Komachi designs:

Not only that, but as you can see from this image and checking out Nik's post of the storyboards, that a ton of them are roughed out like this with basically nothing already rendered to this degree of detail. This implies that this shot was extremely important - important enough to have fully completed and ready to go before the storyboards were even complete.

Oh, well. That's not quite true... Nik did spot one other thing that was prerendered.

The rose bouquet Ryosuke brings for Ai, that the storyboard specifically mentions should be the same colour as they were in the original work.

All together it has some, uh... very loaded implications, huh?

while i'm whining about stuff getting lost in the transition from cohost to here, may as well move some auxiliary better off alone stuff over.

this is mainly going to cover what our two leads look like, because the eternal struggle of the Cohost Writer's Salon is not giving enough physical description of characters in the text.

First up, we have this lovely chart which I made shortly after starting the series. I had written down numbers for their heights, and then I remembered I knew a website that would show relative heights, and:

next up, the struggle of the written medium

the thing about describing characters is that I can't just put "lunaeris looks like that picture of patchouli holding a modello and soaking her feet, if patchouli was a goth elf" into the story

you know, this image

it's not necessarily that she looks like patchy, it's just the vibe of this specific image, you know? Imagine a gothy, pear-shaped elf with this exact pose and facial expression and you've got Lunaeris being asked to do something she doesn't want to do but can't outright decline.

and yes, the thighs are fat and slappable. obviously.

she is a wizard (does not exercise) and a princess (eats well) she HAS tummy and ass

finally, we have screenshots of the two of them made in dragon's dogma 2.

They're not perfect (let me make bigger elf ears capcom), but the faces are pretty much right.

here's the compilation of physical traits that I mention either in the story or in other posts that i used when making them:

so here's how it turned out, first Kallixenia:

she should be bigger, both in terms of height and muscle. Making a body look right in a character creator is harder than a face, I couldn't get her how I liked. she's meant to be buff but not like, hollywood buff, you get me? very big and strong but she isn't out there cutting calories for muscle definition. she needs to eat her big monster hunter meals so she can go do quests.

face is great though. big softie.

and then the princess:

oh, she's rather pretty. what was all that about her looking off-putting for-

ah. okay. there's definitely a certain creepy little gremlin vibe.

again body is less accurate than face, it felt like whenever i tried to make her have a tummy she just looked... inflated. like it didn't have a proper weight or squish to it.

My favorite part of making these is by far the comparison of Lunaeris' face with and without makeup. She looks completely normal and then she's like, bordering on a kubrick stare.

Maybe when she's out there enjoying her life instead of moping and purposefully trying to drive people away from her she'll tweak it a bit.

Also probably less sickly pale when she's spending a lot of time outside. A lot of how I picture her is still kinda stuck in chapter 1, I should write an update on how she looks in the later stories involving the two of them.

Xinyan's thick, baggy, black/red tripp pants have several bright yellow straps and hang low on her hips, tied off with a thick red/black rope as a belt. the lower section of one leg of the pants has been ripped off, leaving the lower leg visible. she's wearing thick black/red boots with spiked toes. Xinyan's wearing ragged, hole-filled fishnet underneath her main outfit. she's wearing a spiked collar, a spiked cuff on one upper arm, and several thick, silver chains scattered across the entire outfit. various red/yellow/orange patches are scattered across the outfit, and there's one visible, ragged hole on the longer pant leg.

the third image is the same as the second, but Xinyan has her iconic, diamond-shaped ruan strapped to her back with an orange strap. her Vision is now hanging off the neck of the instrument with a gold chain. text on this image reads, "not using weapon: ruan reappears", whereas the previous image had text reading, "using weapon: ruan disappears". this image also has a small doodle of the ruan with silver blades unsheathing from either side of the main body, with accompanying text reading, "(blades can sheathe for safety)". end ID]

had a lot of fun with the piercings/makeup too, lemme zoom in on that for ya

I considered giving Xinyan more textured hair, but I couldn't figure out a good way to reconcile it with the flaming flower shape of her puffy ponytails, which I rly wanted to keep b/c it's super cute <3. I would like to do more textured hair in future projects, but I just couldn't make it work with this one unforch. but if anyone has suggestions for reconciling textured hair with the flaming flower shape, I'm all ears

as for the drum vs. ruan, I just think the ruan is so much more iconic. I know Xinyan's lore says she can play basically any instrument (or any object as an instrument), but we NEVER see her play that drum, or anything else besides the ruan. hell, the ruan is the one instrument/weapon that she's specifically modified to work with her Vision-- it has depth! I'd be more willing to keep the drum if Xinyan ever used it or if it had any special lore, but as it stands, it's a shallow part of her character design imo

on top of that, I really want more characters to use parts of their outfit. I was rly delighted when Heizou dropped, and he actually flipped his baton around! how fun! so let's give Xinyan a wearable weapon

as for the blades, I just think the original design is... kinda stupid

I just don't really understand how that position works-- how do you hit enemies with the bottom of a ruan? unless Xinyan's using it like a spear instead of an axe, which defeats the whole purpose of a claymore-user

and in either case, it's just not safe to have the blades out at all times, especially on an instrument that Xinyan has to hold close to her body to even play. so I thought sheathing blades would work

Fan Interpretation of Charming Gold’s parents from Running Man Animation.

When I was watching Running Man Animation, I at first never really paid much attention to Charming Gold. Before him, I was more interested in Pala, and even with the whole villain reveal, I still did not really pay him much attention until his backstory was revealed. I immediately became attached to CG after that.

In Charming Gold’s backstory, we are shown his parents and what’s interesting is that they are the only characters with faces. The other Pikok members have some sort of comedy theater mask on their faces, or even not drawn at all.

I probably thought more of these characters, if you can call them that, than what was intended. They were only present for precisely 15 seconds combined but there are so many storytelling elements on them. We were only shown their bust and side view and for this reason, we were never shown their full designs. It was hard trying to make their designs as it was in a flashback sequence with a yellow filter on everything so we, the audience, did not even know what colors they were. They do not even have names! They are called “Charming Gold’s mother” and “Charming Gold’s father” or “Charming Gold’s parents”. Even then, I actually liked these characters. Or their story potential regarding Charming Gold.

I’ll go talk about their names first instead of calling them “Charming Gold’s mother” and “Charming Gold’s father”. I named his mother Charming “Darling” Diamond because the diamond is one of the most valuable gemstones, fitting for the queen of the beautiful Pikok tribe. For his father, I was originally going to name him Charming Cobalt so his name is an alliteration similar to Charming Gold and also to reference his blue feathers. However, I thought that would make Charming Gold an outlier. My friend pointed out many years ago that Charming Gold's name is “Gold” but he’s blue. Since there are already characters with alliterations on their names I changed it to Charming Platinum. I made this as a reference that Gold's father is higher in power than him as platinum, which can also be known as white gold, is more valuable than gold.

On to their designs, as I said before in my Dazzling Diaspore character art I have a headcanon that the women of the Pikok tribe have duller colors compared to their male counterparts. I used a real-life image of a peahen so that’s why Diamond has a blue neck. Platinum has a hue of deep rich blue color, to further emphasize his authority over Gold, who has a standard blue color.

Using Charming Gold as a reference for their designs, I noticed that while looking at Gold’s design his whole body is a gradient. From a light teal on his nose to dark violets on the tips of his hair to even the icy blue color of his tail. With bold colors of red and gold on his face with purple eyes. I incorporated that detail into the designs of Pikok characters.

I did not want Charming Gold’s parents to be an exact copy of him, so I tried my best to make them look different, but still similar, to CG. Granted that, I may have overdone it. I did 3-4 color tests to see what I liked the most.

Another headcanon is the makeup they wear is a part of their face. So that eyeshadow and goatee on Charming Gold is actually a part of his face. While looking at the close-up shot of Platinum I noticed that there seemed to be some sort of bottom eyeliner, and since I wanted them to look like their son more so I made him have eye makeup similar to Gold. There seems to be no make-up on Diamond so I had to improvise.

Charming Gold seems to embody Korean beauty standards like his androgynous body and flawless skin. His backstory of being horrifically bullied is a common story in Korean Media, especially stories about beauty standards.

With that in mind, I designed Diamond and Platinum from those beauty standards. In Korea, facial hair is seen as unattractive, but according to history, men were not allowed to harm their bodies and that includes hair. That is why I had Platinum sport a beard than Gold’s goatee. (Side note: Fandom Wiki just described it as a “red line” but I personally see it as Gold having a goatee.) Diamond have freckles and a mole because from what I had researched these beauty marks are at best neutral or at worst ugly in Korea. I found no solid statement even though some KPop idols, who are known to follow Korean beauty standards, have these same beauty marks. She was shown to have pronounced eyelashes so I made sure to show that.

I also have a headcanon that as they age, their faces darken from a white to a gray color. I picked the gray from their grayscale.

For the clothes, Charming Platinum's design was simple enough as his clothes seemed to be a long-sleeved polo shirt with buttons paired with black pants and shoes. He had this cloth wrapped around him like a belt and was wearing a large cape or a royal mantle. He was noticeably wearing the same backless vest Gold wore in the show. Hence, I see the vest like a crown, where the king, Platinum, passed it down to his heir, Gold. And let me tell you, it was hard getting a decent reference for this very symmetrical pattern.

For Charming Diamond here, we were never shown much. I had interpreted it as her wearing a royal mantle and a sleeveless dress and that is all. I noticed that the design on her brooch has the same design that can be throughout the show, like the window in one of the references.

Their royal mantles are rather interesting to me since Charming Gold never wore one in the show; however, since the mantles have peacock patterns on them, I think they were supposed to represent a peacock’s tail, similar to how Gold wore one during Season 1. I did some creative liberty while designing their clothes as we were never shown their full frontal view. Clothes from the Pikok tribe are surprisingly rather simple.

For my headcanons about their deaths, it is rather simple. I did not really think much about it, just a vague idea about how they died. Charming Diamond died from an illness, and she never knew about Gold’s ability and that he was the one behind the missing persons cases. Charming Platinum was stabbed in an assassination attempt by a member of the Mong tribe, who Gold killed to save the former, ultimately revealing his secret power. Platinum later died from the injury he sustained but was on rather good terms with Gold after learning the latter’s ability.

I do not really like the idea that Charming Gold killed his parents. While yes, he probably killed all of the members of the Pikok tribe I just can not really see him as the type of person to kill his parents. Maybe that is just my rose-tinted glasses, but I like to interpret his relationship with his parents as complicated but loving. In his backstory, it was implied that Gold immediately went to his parents after being bullied again. We can assume that this was not the first time this had happened to him, and he possibly went to his parents for consolement.

When he realized that even his own parents were ashamed of him, he was completely heartbroken as implied by the emphasis on the single teardrop. Charming Gold’s parents were ashamed of him because of his appearance, so it is possible that when Gold gained his energy absorption ability and became “beautiful” they started to treat him better. They did have some sort of familial love for him before that, but it became more apparent after the “curse” was lifted. But this is just my interpretation.

For their personalities, we were never shown much. What little we get is where they are in a stressful situation, so we can not really know for sure how they normally act. But Gold’s personality and skill must have come from somewhere.

I might draw and flesh them out more but this is it for now. I have been trying a new art style where I lean into the gothic medieval style so that is why the art has a yellow filter, but there is still the other version where there is no filter. Drawing these two was hard because as it turns out, I’m not actually good with drawing two characters existing in the same space with correct proportions.

Marissa is very feminine and likes the Cottagecore and Mori Gyaru aesthetics. Her skin is unique, and a mycologist who works part time at a tatttoo parlor actually did her ink, and even let her have the same design twice (Marissa thinks snails are adorable) . She wants to be a computer programmer. Since her DNA is unique, she is immortal, which her Vampire roommate Carilla has yet to know.

Design Notes: Obviously these pearls are all based to be one under each court and some leaning in for the court type more than others. I wanted them all to feature the same pattern a you can see on the main article of clothing. For Pink Pearl she's obviously modeled after a flower and a jester much how pink diamond herself was. I even took her to lean into a more devious and malicious side similar to eyeball and past pink diamond's actions could be. even her arms could be read as small stalks and little pollen balls from an upside down flower. The legwarmers helped stop with the full blank space on the bottom half and she gets to be the only one with a separate patterned article instead of just a bulk piece of cloth. Also another thing to note is the midrise bottoms she wears to also match with white pearl's high rise pants.

White Pearl was the first on designed for her silhouette and the hardest part being figuring out her hair- that which ended up being shaped after i got the other pearls designs down further so she ended up with two buns as a compliment to blue having one bun. Last minute in the designing process I added White to have sunglasses both for the nod to 'cool white diamond' court but also to contrast the 'brilliant shine' of yellow as if she's the sun so that those two can mirror while pink and blue have cheek details together

Originally blue pearl was not going to have a cold shoulder open much less a bow in the back. However it got trimmed down so that there will be more visual similarities to White Pearl's cold shoulder and a bow in the back like almost faux shoulder pads in a silhouette look. In the end she kind of ended up looking the most different than what I originally intended for her. Yellow Pearl is the only one of the four to have technically three different patterns going on for her. One the main pattern of course, then three stripes on her shirt and then a lattice of the combined pant and boots of a gradient. Showing she wants a lot, and likely is doing too much. Fitting a bit well into the militaristic but still seeming like a too ornate look, she has metal cuffs- there small blunt spikes and also on the back of her heels instead of long and sharper more piercing type of spikes. No matter what though, she carries the signia of the diamonds intensely. Another thing to note is how blue pearl has a mini dress and that yellow pearl has low rise pants that both almost line up in where they stop

    During the early part of the next morning, the two girls -- Iris and Paige -- hurried into the living room of the house that belonged to the Thomas family.

    Iris had on black eyeliner, pale-blue eye-shadow, and blue lipstick. She also had on dark-blue earrings. And her long blue hair was tied in a low tail. The slender girl wore a shiny black top that lowered to her middle section. She had short bottoms that had two tones of blue. And she had on a thin black belt with her MAF badge which was worn as a buckle. She also had on a pair of short black boots. And she wore her shiny black necklace with a small fang made of ivory hanging from the center.

    Paige wore black eyeliner, peach eye-shadow, and pink lipstick. She wore a light-gray shirt with a small collar and a pair of long sleeves. She also had on a short yellow skirt with the DSL crest placed on the top of the left leg. And she wore a pair of long brown boots that had high heels.

    The girls made their way toward the front door of the home as they had on their backpacks.

    Iris yelled "I'll see you after school, Dad!"

    A male voice yelled from across the house "Okay dear! You have a great day!"

    The blue-haired girl soon carefully opened the door and found someone standing before her.

    A shaken Iris stared at this person as her bag slowly fell from her back.

    "Iris?" questioned Paige. "Why are you holding us in?"

    Then Paige spotted the person standing before Iris. And the young brunette grew shocked as her mouth opened wide.

    The person standing at the door was the ageless Rain Thomas. She wore a long gray shirt with long sleeves underneath an opened pale-brown coat. She also had on a pair of tight light-blue jeans and her long black boots. And she carried a pale-green backpack.

    They all stared at each other until tears fell from Iris's eyes.

    "M-Mom?" She called.

    Rain continued staring at her until she spotted the small fang which fell from the youth's necklace.

    After that, she looked at the emotional Iris's face once again as tears started coming down from her eyes.

    Iris's father hurried into the room as Iris asked "Mom? Is that really you?"

    And Donovan found the woman standing by Iris at the door.

    He was an older man with pale skin and green eyes. He had red hair with a large patch on the top of his head. And he had a fine beard with white coming from the chin area. He had worn a light-gray shirt with a fine collar and long black tie. Along with that, he had on a pair of blue dress-pants with a fine black belt. He also wore a pair of black socks and brown shoes.

    "Aunt Rain?" cried Paige. "Is that truly you standing before us?"

    Donovan slowly walked to the back of his daughter as he cried "Rain?"

    Rain began to cry as she looked around at everyone.

    "And Paige?" She asked. "Is that you?"

    Once her loved ones released her, the happy Rain found the youth Paige once again.

    "You..." She informed Paige. "I thought I was staring at Phoebe just now. You look more like her."

    Paige walked toward Rain as she asked "You believe so?"

    Rain shook her head and implied "You are the complete image of your mother. You are beautiful and clever just like her."

    And Paige embraced her as the living Rain held the emotional youth.

    During that time, the doors to the Principal's Office had opened at the Pluto Armed Forces. The lieutenant Drea Hanen rose from the desk as she spotted her commander being helped by the reanimated Ethan Sidney into the room.

    Hanen wearing her military outfit hurried to the front of the large desk and called "Commander?"

    The ailing Cama lifted his head and ordered his second-in command "Get in touch with the other nations at once."

    Hanen shook her head and answered "Yes sir. I'll do that immediately."

    Someone else ran into the room and found Ethan with the left arm of his son wrapped around him. And the caring doctor named Leta Myers wearing her attire spotted her great friend as well.

    "Cama!" She cried.

    Myers hurried to him and wrapped her arms around the stern Cama.

    She yelled "We've been so worried about you! I still can't believe you went after Barbarus on your own like that! What if we had lost you for real? What then?"

    A calm Cama gave a short laugh and told her "I'm fine now. Thanks to my dad and others."

    "Your dad?" repeated Myers.

    She stared at Ethan Sidney once again and responded "Of course someone had to use that technique. Dark Resurrection... It is one of the most forbidden techniques ever. Not many people know how to perform it correctly."

    Hanen walked toward Ethan and implied "You? You're the Man of Many Faces?"

    Then Cama told his lieutenant "We can talk about this later, Drea! Hook me up with the nations! Now!"

    The smiling Hanen shook her head and responded "At once sir."

    Inside the Principal's Office at the Midas Academy, the witch Sirene reported everything to Beau Ravenstone who sat at his large desk at the other side.

    Sirene still had her cold black eyes, long pale-violet hair, and her pair of small black dots on her forehead. She wore a tight black suit with long leggings and no sleeves. She had on a thin golden belt with a small white skull as the buckle. She also had on long white boots with flat heels, white gloves, and a black holster around the top of each leg with a small black gun inside. A small golden pendant resembling a slithering snake was placed on the top middle of the chest. And a silver ring remained on the bottom of each ear.

    Beau wore a white shirt with a fine collar and a long purple tie. Over his shirt was a buttoned light-blue coat that had long dark-blue sleeves and a thick silver belt with a circular buckle. He had on a pair of dark-blue pants and short black boots. And he had his golden MAF badge that was placed on the front left side of his coat.

    Sirene informed the commander "Young Mr. Sidney said der were no live people in dat base. Thomas and Veil were da only ones left."

    "I see," responded Beau. "So there were no other survivors inside the building that was a hideout for the Bringer. Most likely the agents retreated long before you and your team had infiltrated it."

    Beau asked "What will do you do now? Will you continue with searching for answers related to your mother's death?"

    Sirene folded her arms as she informed Beau "Hell yeah! I'm gonna look into Mom's death. But I'm gonna do it wit' a clear head."

    Then Beau shook his head and told her "I hope everything works out for you in the end, Sirene."

    The stern Sirene shook her head and cried "Just keep Midas in good hands. Yer be hearin' from me if ya don't."

    Sitting on the metallic ledge at the end of the Forest Area which was at the top of the Academy was the relieved Victoria Sidney who listened as her reanimated father explained his story.

    Victoria had on black eyeliner and red lipstick. And her long blond hair was worn down. She wore a black outfit with long sleeves that revealed her shoulders. Short black bottoms were attached to the top of her outfit. She had on a long red-orange coat with long sleeves and a thick collar. And she wore a pair of long black leggings which were attached to golden chaps protecting her toes.

    Victoria soon shook her head and replied "I am just grateful that Veil is spending much needed time with his father. And Ethan must be overjoyed of having a son."

    Sidney lowered his head and informed his daughter "It would be better if your mother did not know of myself and Ethan."

    Victoria gave a quick chuckle and commented "It may be for the best. Mother was never the greatest at surprises."

    Then the old man gave a humble smile and said "Gavin Deorceage is a great man. I know that he will treat you as the queen you have always wanted to be."

    "You knew the entire time?" asked Victoria.

    Sidney gave a soft laugh and informed her "Gavin had asked for my blessing before the two of you married. But your mother and I have known about your relationship for a long time."

    Victoria gave another laugh and implied "I am surprised that Silver never told you. He has always enjoyed Gavin."

    Sidney shook his head and told her "Your brother will always do what he can to protect you and the rest of the family."

    "I know Dad," replied Victoria. "Both Silver and Quentin have always been my protectors. But you... You were the only person they spoke to before they acted."

    And she told Sidney "We all love you Dad. We always will."

    Sidney directed "You do know that I must help Sirene uncover the truth about the death of her mother."

    "Yes," said Victoria. "But make sure to look after her and Ethan."

    "I will," replied Sidney. "And I am proud of all that you and my children have accomplished till this point. You, Quentin, Silver... Everyone. You will always be the treasures that I have eventually found during my existence."

Semiotic Analysis of Four Ads

In this advertisement for foundation, a young fair-skinned woman poses with a full face of makeup, centered in the frame and giving a half-smile. The woman is implied to be wearing the foundation pictured, although to someone with an eye for makeup, it is obvious that she is not only wearing foundation, but at the very least a blush product, some kind of lip product, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, and a product for her eyebrows. To an extent it is ironic, because the slogan on the ad tells the audience to not see makeup, even though she is clearly wearing a full face. Her hair is also in some type of semi-messy up-do and her top seems more casual, emphasizing this message of seeing “perfect skin”, signifying that maybe since her makeup cannot be seen, she is more of a “casual” girl who might not look like she puts much effort into her looks, but is still effortlessly beautiful. It’s not about how she feels in the makeup, but how it is seen. This idea of effortless beauty is something that is instilled into women in order for them to believe that they are not like the other women who, for example, wear heavy makeup, or put a lot of effort into their outfits or hairstyles. This separates them from these other women, and gives the idea that casual equals superior. If you can be beautiful without having to cake on makeup and put on intricate outfits, or without trying at all, maybe you’re better than other women. This all of course is to appeal to the male gaze as well, as it is the reason women are pitted against each other in the first place; to compete for the approval of a man. Which is why the ad places importance on how the makeup is seen rather than her own enjoyment in it. Additionally, despite there being a white woman in the ad, it displays an example of a darker foundation shade made for someone with a darker skin tone than her, and small words near the bottom stating that they have foundation for “all ethnicities and skin tones”. And although this may seem inclusive, the face that they chose for the product is still a white woman. She is the example for their product that they chose. Not to mention, the darker shade that they display on the right is not that dark of a shade in the scope of all skin tones, so either that is their darkest shade, meaning that they are not at all inclusive to all skin types, or they intentionally chose a lighter dark-toned shade as the acceptable example. Overall, taking into consideration all of this information, it is clear that this ad is reinforcing misogynistic and unrealistic beauty standards, as well as young, white, and straight beauty standards and stereotypes.

The advertisement for the eyeshadow palette also features a young woman looking into the camera, with a formation of the eyeshadow slots to the right fitting to frame her face. She holds a finger in front of her lips as if to hush you, also wearing a full face of makeup with emphasis on the eyes as it is an eyeshadow ad, and pink nail polish. Large white lettering goes across the top ⅔ of the frame, saying “Dare to go nude”. On top of the eyeshadow slots that frame her face, is an image of the whole eyeshadow palette itself, and across the bottom in large lettering is “Maybelline”. The colors on her eyes are also nude, which is what the palette advertises. The slogan “dare to go nude” implies that there is an aspect of bravery that goes into wearing a nude palette. However, on the contrary, there is also “All blushed. Never hushed”, conveying the idea that the eyeshadow should be seen, not hushed away. This also alludes to the model making the “hush” gesture with her figure. This oppositional relationship between daring to go nude, versus a push for a blushed look creates an interesting juxtaposition. Granted the palette advertises “blushed nudes”, but it also creates a notion that a nude palette is superior to something that might not be as muted or subtle. This contributes to the problematic idea that any kind of makeup style is superior to another, because what this does is create competition among women when makeup should be used for personal enjoyment and personal taste. It uses a lot of extreme word choices like “dare”, “never”, as well as “provocative” and “risqué”. There is a tinge of irony in this, as typically something bold is thought of as, for example, brighter colors or more potent colors. Nude is typically associated with more muted and subtle looks; yet, in this advertisement it is painted as something that you must be brave to wear. It is a strategy to try to sell the product, because if you don’t buy it, you’re not brave enough to wear it. The hush gesture the model is making also implies that she is in on a secret (the product), and if you’re not included (don’t buy it), you’re missing out. The formation of the eyeshadow slots framing her face also plays with the idea that it in some way, completes her, as it is completing the space around her face. Again, this advertisement relies on selling the product based on manipulation and putting down other women in order for the audience to hopefully believe that its product is superior. It also draws on misogynistic views, as again, the product is being sold as something daring to be seen in. If it is not seen by others, is it still daring? This ad, like the vast majority of beauty product ads, instills misogynistic ideals, and upholds the male gaze as well as heteronormative values. 

This ad, like the others, features a white young woman looking at and facing the camera, in a close-up shot of her face. The women’s makeup is fairly neutral, except for her lips and eyes, her lips a bright red and her eyes having blue eyeshadow, perhaps to draw the viewer into her eyes. She is also wearing some type of black shiny top, and has her hair slicked down. The words “the face of fashion” are displayed, telling us that this woman is in tune with fashion and its trends. It encourages other women to be like her, lest they may not be the face of fashion. On the topic of trends, after this remark it is stated that red lips are “Fall’s statement piece”. Because of this, it can be assumed that this advertisement was released sometime before or during the season of Fall. Additionally, since it is the Fall statement piece, if you put off buying the product, or buy it during any other season, it might not still be the statement piece of the season, so the viewer should buy it as soon as they can. This creates a false reality to make women believe that they have to get this product, and they have to get it now. Like the other ads, this one does not rely on pure personal enjoyment to sell the product, but on trend-seeking and the want to be in tune with fashion to do that. In this sense, it can be targeting women who are insecure about their inability to fit in or keep up with cyclical, materialistic trends. It is shallow, like the other advertisements, and keeps up the trend of heteronormative, misogynistic values. A woman can rebel, but as long as she keeps wearing makeup; only that way it is acceptable.

This last ad, unlike the previous three, is a makeup ad targeted towards men. This particular advertisement sparked some controversy across social media when it came out, and it is easy to see why. The entire frame is devoid of any color besides black and white, and the model isn’t even in focus so the viewer cannot tell if the product is being modeled. This product is not something that men can use to stand out or make apparent, but blend in and “conceal imperfections” as the product says. Not only are women’s insecurities exploited, but men’s as well; the difference is in how they are exploited. The name of the product itself goes to show us this with such a bold name as “war paint”. It is glorifying war and the supposed manliness you must have to participate in it, and if you do not participate in it, you’re not a worthy man.

Bianca has her right hand on the back of her head, her left arm lounging languidly towards the ground, and has her legs pointed downwards with one knee higher than the other. Bianca is wearing a cool pink offwhite frilly French maid headband, a bubblegum pink mid-thigh french maid dress with a cool pinkish offwhite apron with bubblegum pink pinstripes, puffy short bubblegum pink dress sleeves with white cuffs, and bubblegum pink stilleto heels.
