“I’m allergic to cats, you asshole!” Sirius screeches when his brother jumps up onto his lap, “I don’t care if its’ in animagus form, you have fucking cat germs and issues.”

“Sirius?” Lily asks, walking into the common room, “Why are you yelling at a cat?” 

Sirius pouts, “It’s James’ fucking cat and he hates me. I’m allergic to cats his favourite activity is to fucking jump on my lap and scratch me when James isn’t around.” 

“James has a cat?” 

He groans, “Yeah, it’s one of the cats around the castle that just wanders in sometimes. His favourite person is James, so he’s James’ cat- OW, you dick,” he sneers at the cat, “Get off my fucking lap, James is going to be here any minute.” The cat hisses at him, bringing his claws out and starting to make biscuits on his thigh, “That fucking hurts, dude.” 

“Do you think the cat hates you because you hate it?” 

Sirius shakes his head, “No, I don’t hate him, I just think that this cat can hear and knows that I don’t want to be around cats.” 

“How unfortunate is it to be allergic to cats and live in a castle where there are so many cats just wandering around.” Pete comments, walking up to the couch that Sirius is pinned to by the cat, reaching down to pet it and getting scratched immediately, pulling his hand away. 

“I’m just glad that I’m not going to die from it,” Sirius shakes his head. Just as he finishes, the portrait swings open and James stroll into the room, smiling when they see the cat in Sirius’ lap. 

“Leo!” They cheer, walking to grab the little black cat from their best friend’s lap, bringing the cat to their face and pressing a kiss to his little forehead. They turn back to Sirius and Pete, “He wasn’t too hard on you guys, was he?” 

“He’s always an asshole to me,” Sirius pouts. James laughs gently, moving their hold on the cat so he’s cradled in their arms, nods to Lily, and heads up towards the dorm. 

As soon as they’re in the dorm, Regulus jumps down from James’ arms and transforms, pulling them to his chest once he has his bearings. James smiles down at him, “You can’t just bully your brother when I’m not there.”

“I’m his brother, I can do as I please to him,” 

“He’s allergic to cats, and I really don’t want to have to deal with him complaining that he can’t breathe for the rest of the day because you’re being a dick.” 

Regulus shrugs, “I don’t have to deal with it, so it’s not my problem.” 

James rolls their eyes, leaning down to kiss him gently before pulling away and heading to put their cloak down on their bed, “You’re ridiculous.” 

“You love me.”

“For some reason.”

I am scared that they will come for the rest of us. I knew this would happen because this is what they wanted. They want us to die off. It is going to be so fucking hard. Even if you don't like me for my views on certain things or you're thinking that I am fucking annoying as hell, I am here for all trans people in the United States. I will not let discourse come in the way of caring about other trans people. I don't care about your views about certain things right now. I don't. I care about you staying alive. I care about us making it and showing them that we are stronger than them and we always will be. I care about every single one of you even if you don't fit in and others might hate you. I care about you even if I have argued with you and maybe blocked you. I care about every single one of you. I feel like the far right might be in power for longer than these four years, and that's why I am talking about this right now.

“No.” Regulus says as soon as James walks into the room.

James stops in their tracks, turning to look at him, “What?” 

He shakes his head, standing up and walking towards them. He reaches out and touches their hair, “You’ve changed your hair, and I don’t like it.” 

“How the fuck did you notice that immediately?” Sirius pushes, flabbergasted, “It took me hours before I finally noticed that something was different with their hair, the change is so subtle.” 

Regulus whirls on his brother, “I don’t think you realise the pure amount of time that I spend staring at my boyfriend’s hair. I’ll notice a difference when it happens.” 

James smiles and lets out a bright laugh, wrapping their arm around Regulus’ shoulder, “It’s just for the next few days, my love. Dad is testing out some new possibilities with his new hair potion and mum and I are being his models for it.” 

“Why didn’t he ask either of us?” Sirius pouts. 

James gives him a look, “Because your hair is off limits. Dad knows that only you two are allowed to style your hair ever unless they have a death wish.” 

“I guess.” 

Regulus rolls his eyes at his brother’s antics, even if he knows that James is right, “Fine, if it’s only going to be for a couple days.”

“It is. We’re just stress testing the potion on different types of styles.” They lean down and kiss his cheek, “Then I’ll go back to having the messy, unkempt hair that you like.” 

“Fine.”
