hi anon! i went for cuddle curse because i always love an excuse to write magical realism - i hope you enjoy and thank you for the prompt!!!

“So. How much longer are we trapped like this?” Lando asks

Jon checks his watch and glances at the ceiling as he does some quick mental maths. “About seven more hours? Give or take.”

Lando groans and tries to tilt his head back dramatically only to be stopped abruptly when the back of his neck hits Oscar’s arm where it's curled around his shoulders. “Sorry, mate,” he grimaces.

“It’s ok,” Oscar says quietly, “Sorry for getting us in this mess.”

“It’s not your fault. Alright, well it’s not entirely your fault anyway,” Lando amends after Oscar gives him a look.

Jon clears his throat and Lando and Oscar both turn to look. “You boys all good here for the next few hours then? I'll be right next door if you need anything – you need anything before I go?” Oscar shakes his head and mutters a small thanks, but Lando stops to think about it for a second. He opens his mouth but Jon cuts him off. “Lando, no matter how many times you ask me, I’m not letting you have a cheat meal the night before a race just because your teammate got you cursed.”

Lando huffs. Oscar winces. Jon sighs.

“Fuck off then, if you’re not even gonna let me eat anything fun,” Lando grumbles.

Jon rolls his eyes and leaves the room. With him gone, Lando and Oscar fade into an awkward silence. Or as close to silence as you can get when you’re tangled so tightly with your teammate that you can hear every breath, every sniffle, every fidget. When the curse first pulled them together they'd experimented with lying further away from each other, but it resulted in so much pain for them both that they decided it would be better to just cling to each other instead.

For the record, Lando wasn’t kidding when he said this whole thing wasn’t entirely Oscar’s fault. Yes, Oscar’s the one who impeded Charles in quali today and yes, technically, Charles is the one whose magic accidentally manifested a curse on Oscar, but it’s not Oscar’s fault that Charles has never been able to control his magic.

“Why do you think Charles’ magic wound up casting a cuddle curse of all things?” Lando asks eventually, sick of the somewhat tense silence.

Oscar mumbles something but Lando can’t quite make it out.

“Hmm?”

“I said, I think the curse is having fun with the fact that Charles was pissed off that I was so close to him on track.”

“Huh?”

Oscar huffs. “I was too close to Charles on track so now the magic says I’ve gotta be too close to you instead.”

“Oh.”

“Sorry,” Oscar mumbles after a few more moments.

“I’ve told you you don’t need to apologise. It’s fine.”

“Oh, what, because you’re having such a wonderful time right now? Being forcibly stuck to your teammate when you could be in your own bed with as much space as you want?”

“I mean it’s not…like, I mean I know I said we were ‘trapped’ when Jon was here but like, it’s not…not nice.” Lando tries not to pull a face at the trainwreck of a sentence he just came out with.

He's not lying though. There is something not not nice about being cuddled up so close to Oscar. It’s warm for one thing, comforting for another. He’s always enjoyed the rare occasions he and Oscar have hugged for longer than your typical bro hug.

It’s not not nice.

Like. Really nice.

Oscar makes a soft noise. “You, um, this is, uh…”

“Osc?”

Oscar takes a deep breath and then somehow manages to pull the two of them closer together, nuzzling his face into the side of Lando’s neck. “This ok?” he whispers. Lando can feel his lips move against his neck as he speaks.

“Yeah,” he replies as quietly as Oscar spoke. Tentatively, prepared to pull back at any moment, he takes the hand currently plastered to the back of Oscar’s shirt and dips it underneath, resting his palm there, skin against skin. “This oka–”

“Yes,” Oscar breathes, barely letting Lando finish the question, already leaning into the touch.

Lando swallows and does his best to tug Oscar in tighter.

Maybe being stuck like this for seven hours isn’t such a bad thing.

Andkdedjeidheidheu there is so much I could say. Where to start.

Curly is sooooooo. He makes me insane. I need to put him under a microscope. There are so many posts on my blog where people have talked about him in far more eloquent terms and I don’t know how to succinctly explain him in a way that wouldn’t take 10 paragraphs. But yeah. I love him so much even though he kind of sucks,,, blorbo from my game.

I want to beat Jimmy with a bat. Swansea should’ve ended him. The way the game leaves you in the dark about everything at the very start and you slowly find out about him and how shitty he is. I wish I could say I hated him but he’s such a good character that I can’t help but acknowledge him for his place in the story. As a person though. Horrific.

Swansea reminds me a lot of my dad 😭😭😭 which is kind of nice. I think he’s a really good guy and his relationship with Daisuke makes me incredibly miserable. Big Swansea fan, I should draw him at one point.

I LOVE DAISUKE SO MUCH IM GLING TO CRY HE DIDNT DESERVE WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. He’s the babygirl of all time and he means so so so well, but he’s in such a shitty situation, like. My poor boy. Anya. Oh my God. She’s so so so gorgeous and she makes me so miserable. She’s trying her best but she never expected things to get that bad, and she’s trapped in a tin can with the man who raped her. What the fuck. The fact that I have to purposefully seek out information about herself because otherwise we don’t learn about anything her because Jimmy doesn’t give a fuck. We learn more about her in the tiny stargazing scene with Curly than any of her conversations with Jimmy. It’s so. I can feel that she’s SUCHHHHHH an interesting person, but we just don’t get to know a lot about her!!!! I love her so much and I want her to take anxiety medication and go on holiday to Switzerland or something.

The embryo monster thing freaks me out and fascinates me in equal measure. I hate it.

i am gently holding your face with utmost sympathy. idk if this is you trying to start an argument but my friend, sweet anon, why on earth do you think Batman and Superman are called the World's Finest?

yeah some comics start them off not trusting each other, bc Batman sees all the possible ways things can go wrong. he doesn't know Clark as a person so he sees something similar to Luthor; an alien with god-like powers who could reduce the world to ash if he wanted to (right now I'm thinking of the New 52 Worlds Finest run where Bruce is much less trusting and Clark is much more bullheaded at first) so yeah Bruce sees a Potential Problem and treats Clark as such.

in the Doylist sense, Superman and Batman were two of the first published superheroes (the actual first was The Phantom) and even before they met in the comics, they were already being featured together in posters and splash pages. so they've always been something of a pair in media.

in the Watsonian sense, well. in the first two comic pages below, Superman literally says they compliment each other, they "fit each other like hand and glove." the rest are also incredible moments i happened to have saved on my phone, there's so many more i could show but i don't have the time so!

that last one is right after Batman "died" and Superman found his "corpse" (this is when Bruce was hit by an omega beam from Darkseid and sent on a chaotic trip through the time stream, but through various comic book science bullshit, there was a burnt-to-shit corpse wearing the Batsuit left behind and it was convincing enough to Superman). so yeah this is kinda proof that Superman can absolutely lose his shit, but it's because his best fucking friend died.

soooooo yeah. they love each other. platonic, romantic, whatever. i say soulmates because it's a good term to describe them, because in both Doylist and Watsonian senses, they were always meant to be partners, to be two sides of the superhero coin, to be the goddamn World's Finest.

Is there anything about the implications of how Ritsu treats Mob in Mogamiland and Mogami claims that everyone there is an accurate representation of themselves in the real world. Or was Mogami just fucking with him with that one/did I misinterpret. Because if he wasn't and I didn't the creatures going to get me

well first off i would like to say that mogami is an EXTREMELY biased narrator, who has an extremely vested interest in presenting everything in the worst light possible and convincing mob that this is what the real world is Really Like.

secondly- and im gonna be honest here- ritsu and mob’s relationship in the show has a heavy dose of Brother Goggles. in a world where they’re not related, where ritsu has nothing tying him to mob? he’d probably treat mob like a stranger, considering they wouldn’t know each other and ritsu wouldnt have any reason to care about mob. i don’t think it’s particularly out of character for ritsu to evaluate mogamiland mob’s situation (two high schoolers, both of whom seem to be larger and reasonably in shape, acting violently against a stranger ritsu likely Knows either can’t or won’t fight back) and decide he’s not going to stick his neck out. (especially considering in s1 ep6 when he thinks onigawara is shaking down mob- his brother, who he deeply cares about but also considers to be a walking time bomb that could be set off by any disturbance or threat, who ritsu has the power to defend in that moment- and chooses to observe from a distance instead of intervene)

to be clear btw this is one of my favorite things about him. it’s such a fascinating part of his character

I just know that when omega and Simon finally have sex it's going to be heartbreakingly beautiful. Maybe Johnny's there to give Simon an anchor point if he gets too in his head. Maybe he has Omega take control in fears if his instincts get too much and accidentally hurt her. I just know it's gonna be great.

The sunday fic

Actually for that fic, the main idea was cult leader!sunday who manages a whole cult worshipping the very grounds you walk on, with a bunch of other people (whom you may or may not know) he succeeded in persuading. If that cult was successfully built, he won't tell you about it until after he 'persuaded' you too, because what if you suddenly get scared of him? He can't let that happen. He can't let you get away after all that he did for you.

Well, anyway, it'll all be easy for him. After all, he's a master of manipulation; it's a piece of cake to build a place wholly to pray to you.

But i kind of scrapped that idea and turned it into him just worshipping you alone (at the moment, maybe?). While i like the initial idea a lot more, i think the ending where he wants to be your only devotee fits him best. It somewhat implies how much he wants to keep you as his only deity (read: he's obsessed with control). What if someone taints the ever so pure you? He won't allow it. But maybe, after he 'wakes' you up from your human state and finally makes you realise that you are meant to be worshipped by someone (sunday especially), he might spread around a word or two about you.

Ah, also, in line with me elaborating more about the sunday fic, i think i didn't quite express the part when sunday's face 'turns' into something scary, specifically this part:

This time, Sunday didn't immediately smile. He didn't reassure you right away. His face looked unlike what you knew of him.

It's just that he always puts a kind person facade to almost everyone around him, including you. When he knew that someone deliberately made up a rumour about him having relations with a cult, he was a little more than mad. He wasn't mad at you, of course! He was just a little frustrated that he can't immediately spill around the fact that he is worshipping you, not some other being!

He was angry, yet excited. His heart feels like it could just leap out from his chest and shout to the world that he loves and adores you! What better way to show that love than to worship you? Even if you don't understand it when he explains everything to you one day, he will gladly drill it into your mind that you are meant to be worshipped no matter how long it takes ♡

You have to accept his love, even if it's tainted with the ugliness of delusions.

I'm actually super curious about Horror's over eating problem like, in the first two weeks? I'm kinda wondering how Nightmare helped with that!

In his defence, after what he went through pretty much any eating would have been too much.

Like Horror hadn't eaten in years, and suddenly he finds himself in a place where food just exists. Like it's just around and he can take it - he's encouraged to take it because after the other two Nightmare was making a point of saying you must eat to his henchmen when they joined.

So he did the only reasonable thing and went hog wild.

There was no problem as far as the others were concerned - Nightmare was honestly relieved to see he'd chosen a mortal who would feed himself, and hearing him rip into an entire loaf of bread dry like an animal was the right first impression to leave on Dust and Killer. (Not that either of them would kill a teammate for fun, but without any LV and no kills Horror was lacking the intimidation factor they had. It's amazing how after you watch a guy shovel dry pasta shapes into his mouth by hand like his life depends on it you want to give him a bit of space to settle in).

The problem really was that going from eating nothing for years to eating half a kitchen all at once is a terrible idea, and he ended up making himself pretty sick from it. But the next time he went to the kitchen he just did it again, because the fear of going back to starvation told him to just eat it all now so it couldn't disappear. This went on for days, to the point Nightmare was considering doing a tour of aus to find a doctor who could find out what was wrong (and not rat him out to Dream), until Dust came forward with the suggestion of building him up slowly.

It was rough having to limit him, Horror has never been as grumpy as he was in those first few weeks (it turns out he didn't need the pasta to match the others on intimidation, hunger mood swings work just fine.) But eventually he was able to keep food down, and by then Nightmare had made a schedule to make sure they weren't fed too much or too little which was useful for all three.

So he finally had all his henchmen eating properly! And it only took like 2 years c:

How did Kian and Xavier met in the first place? Was Kian a groupie, or just literally living his life?

Kian was literally just living his life…. So here I mentioned before that Kian was sent away somewhere for awhile! He was actually sent to the US for 2 years!

Reasons being that before his parents had died he was under contract as a child model, but then you know, they died (big shoutout to Kians mom for that). He’s still under that contract but it’s been postponed due to him being underaged and grieving the lost of his family, Kian is put in foster care for awhile before eventually ending up in Baileys care, the relationship between them is rocky but Kian is meek and flinches away from hands, like a dog that been kicked one too many times, but a scared dog can still lash out, and that’s what happened with Kian, he did something Bailey didn’t like and had to pay for it, (he begs one of the only friends in town he has, someone not trapped under Baileys thumb the way he is, a sweet boy at the church for help, only to be met with averted eyes and a trembling frown, that’s the day Kian really wishes he had died with his family)

Kian gets sent away to the US, sent back to the company he had a contract under and in their care, he’s still a child after all, but he’s still Baileys property, that gives him comfort although it shouldn’t, it tells him he hasn’t been abandoned, not yet.

Kian is 16, a young and pretty thing with no proper adult around, it attracts the attention of all the wrong types of people, it attracts a man named Xavier.

Xavier is a star, a handsome man in his early 20’s, famous in his movies and for being a heartthrob with a gentle smile, he’s asked to model in a photoshoot with a partner, a small and soft wilting figure.

He meets Kian

To Xavier, it’s almost infatuation at first sight, it’s romantic, it could be love

The shoot the photos, Kian doesn’t smell the way a boy his age should, he smells soft, sweet, like vanilla and peaches, it’s mouthwatering- Xavier wonders what kind of noise Kian would make if he bit hard enough to bleed, would he taste sweet?

It doesn’t take much for Xavier to convince a producer to,, scout Kian for a small role in a film Xavier’s plays in, Xavier isn’t a actor for nothing after all, soft smiles and touches, he can be kind to Kian, teach him the ropes and help him when he stumbles throughout the shoot, help him remember his lines and caress his head softly when he gets something right, a sugar sweet act that pays off when Kian stares up at him with shy mismatched eyes, pale face pink with flush and a smile, because Kian is young and dumb, and he’d do anything to feel important to someone

The movie is finished, it’s gonna be a hit, any movie with Xavier always is

A late night afterparty is planned, adults drinking and doing things they shouldn’t-

Kian is there, he shouldn’t be, but Xavier promised to take care of him, a warm hand against the low of his back, and Kian trusts him, why wouldn’t he? Xavier has done such a good job taking care of him these last few months after all. Kian trusts him, trusts him enough to find a drink he’s allowed in this party full of alcohol, trusts him enough to tell Xavier when he starts feeling bad, a throbbing pain in his skull and nausea brewing in his stomach, weak and woozy, he trusts Xavier to take him home-

Kian doesn’t go home that night, he doesn't go home for few nights.

Xavier helpfully tells Kians manager that the boy needs a break, poor thing, working so hard for others. It's a good thing Xaviers here, it gets lonely in this big house, he's happy to host Kian for as long as needed. And as he hangs up the phone it's all done, and Kian is his, even if just for awhile, Xavier smiles as he brushes back dark hair from a sweaty forehead, Kians such a pretty little thing, even more so like this, pliant and drugged up in Xavier’s bed, eyes unfocused and foamy drool escaping his mouth

"Une si jolie petite rose~" he whispers more to himself, he knows Kian can't hear him even if he wanted to, not in the state he's in, it doesn't matter though, Xavier will say it over and over again, just so Kian knows how much he's adored, and Kian stares, body unwilling to move as he stares at the ceiling, a body slotting itself between his legs

It doesn't take long for Xavier to start officially sponsoring Kian, everyone with a brain in the industry knows what that means, what it entails for a boy his age, Kian is 17 and he wonders how much it would hurt to die, if it would hurt at all when compared to living like this, if this even counts as living-

Xavier is sweet, he always is, he tolerates kians scratches and outbursts, his screams and his tears, he watches Kian flip through conflicting emotions, the strain it puts on him, he doesn't want Kian to break from the demons in his head, he'd prefer it at his own instead, he gets taken to the doctors and leaves with two things, a bag full of medicine bottles with names he can't pronounce and a diagnosis for BPD, looking at his history the doctors assume it's genetic, the car ride to Xaviers home is quiet

Kian thinks about his mom for the first time in years, and he let's Xavier pull him into a gentle embrace, let's Xavier hold him and he weeps, in the arms of a man who's done horrible, horrible things to him, but is the only one there to hold him like a child, the child Kian often forgets he still is

Hes softer after that, Kian, a saccharine smile and empty eyes, he let's Xavier touch all he wants and puts up no fuss, just a smile and a stare, the day of his 18th birthday Xavier gifts him earrings, a reminder of the dull ache in ears, Xavier had done them himself, Kian thanks him with a kiss, one of Kians own will, a first in these 2 years, Xavier thinks he'd break kians legs if it would mean spending the rest of their lives together, Xavier thinks he's in love, but there's only so much a man in love can do when he wakes up to an empty bed, looking around the house to see light from the bathroom and a boy bleeding and quiet in the tub, water a deep red and head lolled back, there's nothing much for him do to, throat rubbed raw from his yells, shaking hands phone for a hospital, for help, hands wet and red as he drags a far too cold body into his hands and prays for the first time in his life to a god that doesn't exist, cause if they did, a good merciful god would've never let Xavier touch Kian

Kian survives, but he's unconscious and weak, Xavier visits for a week straight, bouquets of flowers in tow everyday, until he comes into an empty hospital room

Word spreads quickly, especially to Bailey, it's no surprise the minute he knew his most profitable ward had fucked up yet again that he sends for Kian, he wakes up and isn't even given half a day of rest before he's loaded up to a plane back, woozy from pain dulling drugs, a familiar feeling, and finger tips almost blue and numb with how tightly wrapped those bandages are around his arms, but he's comforted by a single thought, Bailey wouldnt tell anyone about his wards mistakes, and Xavier would think that empty hospital room belonged to a dead boy

Skater boy Aaron is real and true and canon (to me at least)

He is the poster boy for the early 2000s skater aesthetic

Part of the reason he continues skating in college is because he enjoys the heart attack it gives Kevin

Kevin doesn’t want him getting hurt and jeopardizing the team and his wellbeing

So Aaron makes sure he finds time to skate everyday

Aaron is a lover of pop culture and is just a fucking nerd dude

He loves Lord of the Rings and read Harry Potter as it came out (and also very actively hates JKR in the modern day)

Aaron Minyard is a chronic migraine girly

He’s a med student and athlete who gets very little sleep so his head constantly hurts

And yaknow what he’s a little bitch about it too

He is constantly complaining to Katelyn and using it as an excuse to be an asshole

(I love him so dearly)

I also think he is constantly cold and has terrible blood circulation

His hands and feet are always freezing

Years of drug use and constantly needing to take Advil for his headaches has just shot his cardiovascular system

So he’s constantly cold and doesn’t run a lot because his stamina is shit

He has a raging addiction to caffeine and his vice is RedBulls

His sleep schedule is absolutely wrecked from both Exy and school so he’s rarely ever without a RedBull in hand

I don’t think he cares a lot about his diet but he does try to keep it pretty nutrient packed bc he knows the benefits of it

But he also has a sweet tooth (not as strong as Andrew’s but still strong) and he favors baked goods like cake and banana bread and pastries

His vision is bad and it just keeps getting worse over the years but he doesn’t wear his glasses often

He usually resorts to contacts but has to switch to his glasses late at night or when his head is hurting extra bad

OKAY KEVIN FUCKING DAY

He loves tea

Like has an extensive tea collection and will spend the money to buy teas from around the world

He also has a mug collection (the Foxes start gifting him mugs every holiday when they find out about it)

His favorite mugs are his vintage Trojans mug, a “history is not boring” mug the Foxes gave him when he graduated, and a Hogwarts mug Aaron gave him

(they read the series together :P)

Kevin’s favorite areas of history to study are Ancient Rome and the history of Ireland

He’s fascinated by the Roman Empire and studying Ireland makes him feel more connected to his mother

I think he continues school on the side and eventually gets a doctorate degree and teaches a bit after he retires from Exy

He always tries to sign with teams in or near the cities the other OG Foxes are in because he doesn’t really know how to function without the familiarity of his people

Kevin works a lot on undoing his Raven dietary habits and since he’s surrounded by people who can’t cook he grows a love for frozen food as well as caffeine

I think he takes a few art classes and really enjoys it even though he doesn’t think he’s that great at it

He’s actually not bad at all and makes a lot of really cool pieces

Kevin exclusively wears 5 inch inseam shorts

Anything longer is blasphemous

He has basically zero sense of style and just kind of mimics what the others are wearing

Until Allison forces him to go to the mall with her and they spend hours building him a real wardrobe that is him

Most of his closest still consists of PSU and USC merch though

And truly would this even be me if I didn’t put kevaaron headcanons? No

Kevin is basically a human radiator, especially after practice

And that is a blessing directly from God in Aaron’s eyes

Kevin comes back from night practice and Aaron just clings to him, absorbing all of his heat as they fall asleep

Aaron is a chronic clothes stealer like he just has sticky fingers when it comes to Kevin’s wardrobe

They spend a lot of time together in the library

They’re both in quite intensive and workload heavy majors so they study together a lot

It happened more as an accident tbh like Aaron was heading to the library to study for a midterm

And basically all of PSU’s student body had the same idea so there was no open tables

But low and behold there was Kevin, alone at a table tucked in the back corner, typing away at his laptop

Aaron joins him without asking and it kinda just becomes their thing

Kevin joins Aaron at the library between regular and night practices

They spend most of their weekends there and bring each other caffeinated drinks and snacks

Eventually they’re not even studying half the time, they’re just talking and spending time with each other outside of Exy and the other Foxes curious glances and prying comments

Aaron takes a history class with Kevin but Kevin refuses to take any science class outside of his required credits

He’s not a science person so Aaron doesn’t take it personally

Kevin can never properly wrap his head around how strong Aaron actually is

It just doesn’t compute for him, like how can so much strength be packed into such a small body

But he is most definitely not complaining, especially not when that strength is so clearly but on display or used against him

Kevin is practically drooling anytime he watches Aaron body check a striker twice his size and send them sprawling onto the floor

They become each others partners/marks during practices and it is simultaneously the best and worst thing to ever happen

They’re just excessively flirting while tripping each other and fighting with their racquets

The other Foxes comment on their “weird and disturbing foreplay” every chance they get

what's cami cooking lately :D :D :D :D :< :D

well anon yesterday was my gfs birthday so i made kung pao chicken and knefeh!!

knefeh was so interesting to make... i had never done anything remotely like it before... im quite happy with how it turned out though!!

here are a few other things ive made recently-ish: spanish mackerel fried in scallion-infused olive oil (with my own homemade kimchi!!!!:D), pomegranate molasses cake with candied walnuts, pasta with pesto, sticky toffee pudding, pork and shrimp wonton with yummy mala sauce, arayes, and borscht!!!!

these are the kind of exciting ones ive been making, from week to week i kind of fall back on a lot of the same dishes, like mapo tofu and cami fried noodles and tomato sauce and sausages and veggies orzo... things of this nature hehe

To me, the song Self Esteem by AJJ shows what low-honor Jack Marston’s mindset is, what’s going on in his head, pretty well. The self-loathing, hurting people without reason, feeling remorse for it but not stopping, references to a place taking a lot out of you, it’s sooo him. Thought you might like it!!

i’ve heard it!!! and i think you’re right. compared to his high honor behavior (depressed, openly lacking purpose and reason to live), low honor jack is much more sadistic and cruel. he’ll often taunt enemies, people he’s dueling, or lawmen with lines that i personally would expect to hear from john rather than him (ie: “Yeah, I killed your father. He was crying like a girl if I remember correctly.” / “You got me one of them annoying faces... Now move before it annoys me more.” / “Why don’t you shove that badge up your ass? See if it makes you smile!”), or make those infamous gross comments towards working girls in the street.

still, despite this, as you pointed out, jack does feel some kind of remorse even with low honor. he expresses disgust and loathing with himself and his behavior multiple times, but won’t actually rectify this behavior unless the player character decides to get his honor back up. he still apologizes when looting bodies, (“I’m so sorry, miss,” when looting a woman and “Sorry, mister,” when looting a man) or says things like “It’s no wonder I’ve got problems.” which, fair enough.

regardless of honor level, he’ll often mention his family’s legacy in combat, including one (fairly rare iirc) line where he yells out “I’m John Marston - Jr.” he clearly has the presence of mind to understand that he’s repeated the cycle and grown up to be just like his father in exactly the ways his parents didn’t want him to, but while high honor jack will retain the values his parents taught him (ie: turning down working girls by citing that his mother would “turn in her grave”), low honor jack reacts to all the trauma he’s endured by externalizing his anger, hurting people just for the hell of it, and he hates himself even more for it.

(ps: if i may drop my own song rec, which i apply to both high and low honor, might i suggest cavetown’s “boys will be bugs” :3)

but okay, bear with me, because i’ve not….really thought this through haha (+ it’s been an Age since i’ve read the books so source material knowledge is spotty)

it’s just, the entire PoA arc made me so uncomfortable on behalf of harry because no one ever told him anything? like, yes, that is the theme of his life and ootp is another example of how shitty it was for him and how devastating the consequences were but on like. a personal level. picture this, right?

you’re trying to escape ur abusive hellhole by going to the only escape available to u (which is, not so coincidentally, also a murderous cesspit but alas) but surprise! there is a magical mass murderer on the loose. cool, okay, that’s everyone else’s problem, ur literally just trying to have a normal year, maybe learn some magic, fly some brooms, play quidditch, and try to make it to hogsmeade (another big fail bc boo orphans amirite?). but nope, everyone and their grandma keeps trying to lock you up and warning u to stay away from this serial killer because….? clearly the reasons aren’t important but harry has to stay inside, shit his gob, and not do anything. the definition of ‘shut up, sit there, and look pretty’

literally the only person to make an effort is mr weasley and even he has to do it in secret lest he get reprimanded for…telling a kid to take care of themselves? i don’t think i’ll ever understand why so many adults in the WW think basic info is so dangerous but ok. right, so, on top of all this not telling harry, he’s also being treated like some reckless, adrenaline junkie ass fool?? like people are out here ominously going ‘promise you won’t go after sirius black’ while our boy is just confused like?? WHY??? he literally does not know anything and honestly, if everyone hadn’t stoked the fans so much, he probably wouldn’t have either.

this is partly why i think they just looked at him like a symbol or something, not an actual person, because if they genuinely cared about his safety, they would try harder right? but it seems to me like they just didn’t want the boy who lived to be hurt, or for voldy’s right hand man to come back and finish the job. terrible for public safety & spirit, that.

and then, the cherry on top of this shitcake is just. remus mf lupin. that man in poa was in fine form (beat only by his incredible cameo in dh during the trio’s hunt). with audacity lining his entire form, he not only manages to keep everything a secret from harry (including his parents, sirius’ animagus form, and their relationship), he also somehow scrounges up the gall to shame harry?? and for what, trying to do something everyone else is, that he’s been denied for no discernible reason (he doesn’t know why sirius is a threat, all he would see at that point was his head of house reinforcing the dursleys)? and not only does he do this in an extremely personal way (and not as a professor calling him to task for breaking rules) but he also tells him he’s disgracing his parents SACRIFICE???? the first time he brings up harry’s parents with him and it’s to tell him, famously an orphan, that they’d be ASHAMED OF HIM??? lord on earth. i would throw hands.

so *clears throat* ignoring how i went off the rails for a second there, that’s largely it. all the professors acting like he should take informed decisions with the maturity of an adult when they haven’t told him anything, while at the same time treating him with this weird dichotomy of too familiar and like a stranger? which i think harry gets a lot from everyone around him. they act like they’re close to him but they don’t actually treat him like that. it’s extremely on the surface. i feel like this also reinforces snape’s idea that harry gets special treatment, is seen as a celebrity etc etc. because on the face of it, yeah, they’re all centering him, but they’re not doing it in any meaningful capacity ykno?

sure, harry should be safe but why? what makes him any different from the others? and really, if they actually cared about his safety, why is he in danger every couple minutes? where are the adults then? i don’t think harry is ever seen in the entire series, not by anyone but sirius, which really just makes him that much more important in the grand scheme of things (and harry’s life)

My first thought is that I don’t how you did it,but your writing is…incredible. The internal thoughts and dialogue you have written for the MC are painfully accurate. It’s scary, actually how much this story allows you to see how a person can struggle, how anxiety and other things can surface in various ways… felt almost cathartic reading the story. I strongly believe I was struggling with Some Kind Of Emotion over last winter and managed to pour whatever it was into The Other Woman so I'm pretty proud of it - it's also going to eventually become a series (that isn't as long as cbmthy - looking to be either five or six parts) but it's either the second or third longest piece I've ever written and I've been doing a lot of planning around it so I'd love for as many people to read it as possible (since for once I'm actually proud enough of something I've written to want to openly share it with other people which is definitely a first)
