More fun. Assign the batfamily “sleeping sins”

Alfred: Has clearly scheduled nap times that he abandons regularly to hang out with family members. Buys far too many electronic cleaning tools, and then ‘rests his eyes’ while they tidy around him. Is grumpy after naps, even if he only takes it out on Bruce, very occasionally.

Bruce: Truly believes that he gets enough sleep. Read 50 articles about sleep when he was 23, built a micro-sleep schedule based around this research, and has never revisited the subject. The linchpin article was refuted 4 years later, and he has never acknowledged that the schedule was designed for someone in their early 20s, not late 40s.

Babs: Gets enough sleep 75% of the time. But she’s MISERABLE when she hasn’t, so people bug her about it a lot. Only person in the family not to overwork after nightmares. She both overworks AND has nightmares, but working after a nightmare makes everything MUCH worse. Instead she drinks tea and sometimes does unrelated coding.

Dick: The ‘working all night and then going in for a morning shift’ period was rough! Can NOT nap, so he gets his sleep in one chunk whenever possible. This chunk is usually too small, but it’ll be a few years before his body starts making it absolutely clear that he can’t do this anymore.

Cass: Constant catnaps, with the occasional near-comatose period to catch up on all the deep-sleep her body needs to stay alive. Despite the weird method, actually gets enough rest most of the time. May struggle a LOT when she gets older, though, and her body’s less adaptable.

Jason: Sets aside plenty of time for sleep. Stubbornly stays in bed after (the frequent) nightmares, insisting his body return to rest. Chronically sleep-deprived anyways.

Steph: Most prone to getting too angry for sleep. Tends to pace, and angrily prepare snacks. May have accustomed herself to waking up every 3 hours to eat, and is panicking a bit about that.

Tim: Sleeps very well during naps, but passionately hates his bed. Most likely to abandon sleep entirely and do a project instead, but also the most likely to sleep through things he doesn’t care about.

Duke: Gets really curious about what his family is up to, so he comes into the batcave at like 7pm and then falls asleep on the couch watching them get ready for patrol. Looks insanely comfortable, splayed out on the couch, and frequently makes siblings jealous. Also cheerfully whistles as he wanders the house in the morning, interrupting their sleep. No one has mentioned this, because half the time it acts as a reassuring wake up from nightmares.

Damian: Sleeps VERY shallowly most of the time, with the occasional near-comatose period to catch up on all the deep-sleep his body needs to stay alive. Nightmares are infrequent, but he can’t calm himself after, and tends to gargoyle outside of his father’s room. Luckily, his father has a micro-sleep schedule, and checks outside his door frequently enough that Damian rarely has to be alone for more than 15 minutes.
