what if Pathologic but it was a wrestling match
OHHH yes. this is important. i forgot to do this for like 8 months thank you for reminding me
wow! i ended up writing way more than this question necessitated! no surprise there tbh
mechanically speaking: pathologic is framed as a play in a theater, and wrestling is a very specific kind of physical theater. the concept of kayfabe is interesting here- there are certain pathologic characters that are or become aware they're in a play. a lot of wrestling is buying into objectively ludicrious plot lines for the purposes of having a good time. i feel like clara and artemy are definitely characters that understand. daniil just. does not understand that anything that's happening is plot and finds himself immensely frustrated. alternatively, he's the kind of person who goes "um actually, this is super fake!!" before being suplexed by an odongh into oblivion
Mark is the promoter/booker designing all the plot lines/match endings to see what will create the biggest draw. he's kind of terrible at it tbh
re: futility and disempowerment: part of being a wrestling fan is also feeling incredibly disillusioned by the state of the industry, by the unsung, all too real tragedies. (I am thinking about women on the 2000s indies). Mark's booking is terrible but like actual pathologic, he's trying to prove a point by fucking up people's lives for no reason. well, the reason is that sometimes life just sucks and nothing makes sense! life sucks and nothing makes sense in wrestling sometimes too
a lot of wrestling is also being super worried about how much your favorite wrestlers are fucking up their bodies (seth rollins is on break right now for knee injury number 3). this fits nicely into Mark's whole theater of pain thing. Playing the role of artemy means giving up your body to save people you know aren't "real." Fitting!
tldr; the town on gorkhon is a tiny pretentious independent wrestling promotion that takes itself too seriously and books its matches so poorly as a point or something.
also artemy + the 3 families are wrestling nepo babies. that's exactly what you think it is

Park Seonghwa- Rivals to Lovers
Here me out, he owns an old book shop across the street, he's been there longer than you too. This was his turf, his town, his people, people who loved to read in his cozy library, with its olden print books, worn out pages, read through by generations of the same family.
All was great until one spring she shows up, with her whole pastel plus minimalistic vibes, all with the cutesy trinkets and plants, with warm lights- he noticed some books too, but they were only for show- in conclusion it was a horrid place.
A horrid place where most teens would go to after school now, no longer going to his bookshop, where they'd gossip, read novels or mangas, or even look at pretty pictured magazines (the safe kind, mind you he kept nothing nasty). What's worse was that the older folk began to go there, too! Especially because of how nice she was to them, so polite and so pretty and - ANNOYING.
He even went to 'inspect' the place, with a sour mood and an ill intention, though he was greeted with a burst of sweet aroma, one that had his stomach growling and his inner foodie, begging him to pick at least one of the many pastries or have a cup of steaming, delicious coffee. What came next was worst, her, with her gentle smile and angelic features.
"Hello! Welcome to Spring Avenue, how may we help you today?"
"You're taking my traffic."
"I'm sorry, I don't understand."
"Of course you don't."
With that he had walked out, starting a cold war, between the two. Ironically, she was a pacifist, never a fighter, but boy, did he piss her off, he knew all those buttons that would have her steaming like a hot latte.
The war had begun;
It all began when he put a " 10% off sign on Mangas, Fashion Magazines and Manhwas" that took a god chunk of her traffic.
In retaliation, she launched a "Friendship campaign, any customer that brings a friend gets a cake slice free."
Spend 2 hours reading here and leave with a borrowed book/novel of your choice."
"Buy a coffee and get a cookie free."
This continued throughout the season, so did their rivalry, to an extent that led their divided customers sense the tension. And like usual, highschoolers are escapists and this little feud of Seonghwa and her's was a problem they'd like to avoid, from her cafe they could see their beloved bookshop owner Seonghwa scowl at them, and if they were leaving the bookshop, the kids could feel the uneasiness in her smile that she give them once they'd pass her by.
"Congratulations, you're in loss." She sighed, closing the file, earning a scowl from the cafe owner, "Hey, I'm just here to check your bills, loss, and profit stuff, don't shoot the messenger."
"Alexia, come on." She whined, this was her dream, she'd put in her life's savings for this, "What should I do, Lexi?"
"Gosh, maybe not give out stupid discounts four times in a month?" Alexia sighed, rubbing her face, leaning back to stare at the bookshop across the street, "San said he knows the owner, maybe you guys could do a collab, instead of trying to each other's traffic."
"Who's San?" She asked her best friend, slash account manager and Public Relations officer- wait, was she dating!?
"Oh- uh- hey would you look at the time?" Alexia got up, grabbing her disposable coffee cup and bag, "Tell you what, you ask the bookshop owner dude about this? Okay? I'll get back with the details on Monday!" She called out as she walked towards the door, ignoring the cafe owner's questions about this San, "BYE LOVE YOU!"
That's how she found herself standing Infront of his bookshop that evening, still debating if she should go in or not? Was this idea even worth it, the guy was rude, annoying, stupid, incredibly handsome and sweet with kids and- the hell.
"Can I help you?" His deep voice came out of no where
She almost jumped out of her skin, only to turn around and spot the man she had been hating for the past ten months, standing there in all his angleic glory, with that ugly sweater and that overly comfortable scarf, not to mention his hair, his undercut had grown, quiet well too, perhaps he really was blessed with good genes.
"I uh..." she trailed off, pouting to herself, thinking of how he'd react, maybe he would make fun of her, or insult her or even go as far as to tell the town about her poor business management skills.
"Are you still open?" his question had caught her off guard, staring at him quietly wanting to see if this was a trick, only it wasn't, for when she nodded, he had looked around and then asked if he could...get a cup of coffee from there.
Of course she had said yes, why on earth would she say no to a customer, she needed the business. Unfortunately, that one cup of coffee, turned into two, then three, well- not as unfortunate as she would like it to be.
The two, mind you, who still didnt like each other, began to learn a lot about each other. He learnt how she was genuinely a sweet, caring and gentle person, her persona was indeed not fake but very real, this is who she was. She on the other hand, learned that he had inherited this business from his family, and he was an avid reader- sort a geek, a cute geek, a cute geek that could eat a whole chocolate cake with three mugs off coffee like it was nothing.
It wasn't until the third week of him visiting her cafe, that when he had stepped out to go there, he had bumped into her. She had almost fallen, but he was quick, gripping her wrist and pulling her into his chest, only to laugh when she mumbled an excuse, though he was glad she couldn't hear how his heart was hammering against his chest, wanting to stuff itself in the breast pocket of her coat.
That day she had asked him if she could check out his book shop, because she had been looking for old English bakery recipes and she couldn't find it anywhere, not any store around or online. Of course he had taken her to the right isle, in the right section in no time, this bookshop was his life and collecting and sifting through books was his passion, that day he had seen her passion, she had sat there, on the floor the entire night, reading book after book, mumbling to herself as she noted down recipes. He had sat next to her, helping her jot down notes, bringing her coffee- well not as good as hers, but good enough. At one point he had even ordered them a late night snack, well snacks, because he's a growing boy. He had closed the shop with the two inside, even pulled out a blanket and some cushions from the lounging area so she could comfortably work- she was a passionate girl and ironically he had realised something that night, only it turned into a full blown epiphany in the morning.
Next morning she had woken up right next to him, her head on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around her as the blanket was draped over the two, they had fallen asleep while reading- oh my, he really was pretty up close.
Though the two pretended nothing had happened, nothing had changed, however, everyone around them had noticed, the highschoolers would giggle when he'd come to her cafe for a cup of coffee, or how the older folk would pat him on the back when she'd step into the bookshop calling him out for help, with her little, "Hwa?"
Neither really knew how it happened, but one night while closing up he had waited outside for her, telling her he'd drop her home, even though she lived close by. Slowly this had become part of their routine, he'd often talk about the latest manga or an issue to the Star Wars comics or whatever on earth he'd talk about, but she'd always listen. Always smile and laugh at his jokes, while he'd readily accept any test recipes she'd try, telling her that his stomach was like a blackhole.
But when do the two get together? Simple, on New Years Eve, when he had to close his shop but she had decided to leave her cafe open, wanting to cater to all those who were celebrating the arrival of the new year with their loved ones, she knew Seonghwa had to go home anyway and she didn't want to spend the night alone since her family was out of town. What she did not expect was a few minutes before the strike of midnight, the cafe door chimed open as she turned to greet the customer, only to freeze at the sight before her- Seonghwa entering with a bouqet of origami flowers, smiling at her as he slowly walked to her;
"I- I know you don't like plucking flowers or bouqets, so I made you these."
"You...made these?"
"Ofcourse."
"W-why?"
"I...because I..." but before he could finish his sentence his ears picked up the count down, causing him to quickly place the flowers on the counter and as soon as the fireworks rang in her ears, it was as if she could feel the burning warmth in her body, taking a second to process how his lips were on hers, his hands cupping her face as her hands instinctively went up to grip his coat, pulling him even closer. Who knew that one day she'll end up opening a cafe that also served as a bookstore, who knew that one day, her little, evil, handsome rival bookseller, would be the New Year's kiss she never knew she needed, the man she never knew she needed, the lover that she was blessed to have.

Jeong Yunho- Neighbors to Lovers
No, she was not the new tenant, he was, and for some ungodly reason he was also extremely ill-prepared to live alone. Like any other weekend, she was leaving her apartment to go to the cafe to sit in peace and finish her novel, but God had other plans. She had opened the door to come face to face with a tall, good-looking man, though the smile he wore scared her- he was one of those extroverts.
No, he was not mean at all, nor was he the manipulative kind, Jeong Yunho really didn't know how the pre-installed dishwasher worked, that's why he had come to her that fateful weekend, about to knock on the door but she had beat him to it, opening the door before he could, earning a sheepish smile in return- who knew his neighbour would be so gorgeous, who knew purple could look so good on someone?
"Hey, I- I moved in across the hall, apartment 19, lol, I guess we're neighbours, huh?"
She had only nodded meekly at his question, pulling her satchel closer to her person, not because she didn't like him, no, but because she wasn't much of a talker anymore, not so confident either and also- because regardless of how good looking this stranger was, he was still a stranger.
"I'm Yunho- Sorry to bother you, I know you must be going somewhere, but I- I uh- I wanted to know if you know how to operate the dishwasher?"
That's how she found herself in his apartment, leaving the maindoor wide open, so she could escape if something were to happen, but to her surprise he was just a regular idiot, one who thought the dishwasher was a rack used to dry the dishes- men.
That night Yunho met an angel, one who seemingly had her life planned out, held together well, while he was still trying to build something out of his- data analyst or not, living alone was not the easiest thing to do, yet, she seemed so nonchalant about it.
Overtime however, she noticed how he would come over to ask her for help often, sometimes it was the 'fridge isn't working right' other times it was the 'how much water do you add to rice while boiling it?' Honestly, she would've told him to piss off if it were anyone else, but it was her polite neighbour, her sweet polite, new neighbour who would pass her by in the corridor every morning, smiling at her and wishing her a good morning- even if she wasn't a morning person.
Ironically, he continued to ensure they cross paths, only because he wanted to get to know her, to talk to her, he really needed a friend, and since moving here meant Mingi and him could no longer hang out 24/7, he really needed another person to talk to, someone who was not Hongjoong from the finance department.
Ironically, she did not protest or tell him to get lost, instead she's quietly help him whenever he'd approach her, giving him a shy smile then going back to her apartment. That purple door tempting him to go back and knock on the old wood, wanting to know what Narnia like secrets she hid behind.
She let it be, truthfully, she wanted fo befriended him, but during these little adventures, she realised she had begun to neglect her book, the same book she had a deadline for, the same book she had been working on day and night, and now this puppy pops up and takes all her attention?
So what does she do? Simple, she starts to create some form of distance, leave before he'd be awake, come back home later too, also even if he did come to knock on her purple door, she wouldn't be there to answer it, so technically she wouldn't feel guilty right?
Wrong, instead God had punished her with a severe writer's block, one so bad that she had missed two of her deadlines, and according to her publisher, she was on her last chance. That's how she found herself at the very cafe where she would find solace, now on the verge of tears, staring at the laptop in pure agony, maybe this was payback for leaving him unattended and ignoring him or maybe she was never meant to be a writer.
A fresh cup of coffee was placed next to her hand, causing her to quickly pull back and look at the stranger, only her panicked eyes met a softer, more timid gaze, a gentle smile gracing her presence.
"Hey... you looked like you needed the juice." He smiled, gesturing towards the chair, as if asking for permission to sit down next to her, to which she nodded.
"I uh..." she paused. Should she even be asking him how he's been? Does she have the right to do so, or are they just neighbours- well, at this point, two strangers living across each other.
"I read your books by the way," he began, giving her a gentle smile, as he felt the way she had tensed up, honestly, initially he thought she was like that because his presence made her uncomfortable, but he soon realised it wasn't him, but she usually was this tensed all the time, this nervous and unsure, which made no sense to him because she was one of the most well functioning person he had met in the city, and he was glad to have moved in next to her, "It's great, the plotline is amazing and the details- you really captured the essence, I particularly liked the world you created, honestly, when I moved here I thought everyone wore those 'blockers' too. To not...feel stuff you know," he turned to look at her, only to catch her staring at him, a small chuckle escaping him when she cleared her throat, averting her gaze, "You were the only one who was nice enough to help me, even for the stupidest of tasks...it means a lot."
She stared at him in awe and disbelief. She had been trying to avoid him for almost a month now, couldn't he tell? Or was he just playing dumb- I mean he totally could be dumb, he didn't know a toaster comes with settings, just thought the numbers were there for the appeal.
After that the two began to "spend time together", it was strictly casual mind you, nothing personal, though he would drop by more often than usual, sometimes after work, sometimes on the weekends- to have dinner with her, he'd bring dessert, or to watch a movie with her, he'd bring the snacks- no, nothing domestic at all.
Or so they thought, because a few months in, he had come over by swinging the door open, yes he had the keys and she had his keys, only to find her standing there all dressed up.
"Where are you off to? What about movie night?"
"Oh no..." she gasped, "Yuyu, I forgot to tell you I had a date tonight." A date? Why? With whom?
"Wait, why?"
"What do you mean why?"
"Why would you go on a date when we- I mean...isn't it weird? Shouldn't you be more focused on your book, instead of this temporary romance?"
"Temporary romance?!"
"W-wait, I didn't mean it like that. It came out wrong-"
"Out."
"W-what?"
"I said get out!"
That happened a week ago, she had been avoiding him for a whole week, she had been ignoring his calls, his texts, his knocks- no he didn't barge into her apartment, it took him a great amount of time to get her to open up to him and he idiotically clowned himself. So he decided to go to the next thing, go to the official reading of her book launch.
He waited there at the back, listening to her intently, taking in each word, who knew he would ever fall in love with, her neighbour, the same girl who had helped with the dishwasher, brought him dinner at night, spent time teaching him the usual ropes of living alone- who knew the very same girl had changed the plot of the book, basing it on her life, expressing how the shy, depressed protagonist, who thought dying her hair purple would make her feel better, realised that the only thing that would make her feel better would be a companion, a tall, handsome man, with a heart of gold- it was not that she needed a man, no, she just needed a friend, and she had finally found one, the inspiration to her writer's block, the Chandler to her Monica, the- HE DIES!?
He gasped, appalled at the way she had ended the story, where at the end, on his deathbed the man tells his beloved how she never needed him, but he needed her to function, to live through each day- bloody hell.
He waited for them to leave when he finally approached her, somewhat upset-no, he was very upset, as she stopped cleaning up to look at him, raising a questioning brow, "What?"
"I can't believe you!"
"Funny, Jeong, I should be the one saying that."
"What!? You killed me!?"
"What?"
"I come here to declare my undying love- no I come here to tell you how much you mean to me and apologise for never asking you out but getting upset when someone actually asked you out and you KILL ME IN YOUR NOVE?"
"First of all, I accept your apology, secondly, the protagonist was DEFINITELY NOT YOU, I made him up WAY BEFORE I met you."
"Oh..." he stared at her then looked around the almost empty bookshop, maybe he should just leave-
"So...Will you ask me out properly now or...'l"
"Move in with me."
"Too fast."
"Was worth a shot." He smiled when she let out a small laugh shaking her head at his antics, "Take me to dinner, Yunho." She smiled watching him lean closer then pause, as if asking for her permission,  "Can I...?" His question was answered when she gripped him by the lapels of his coat, pulling him closer to crash her lips against his, smiling when he wrapped his arms around her, pulling back only to press his forehead against hers,
"We move into my apartment..."
"What? Mine's great-"
"Yunho, have you seen the window and the balcony on mine?"
"Your apartment it is boss."

Choi San- Bestfriends to Lovers
Idiots, these two were complete idiots who were utterly in love with each other but were also too blind to realise that - why? Simple, because both feared that confessing to the other may ruin the long-held, deep bond.
A bond that had developed at the ripe age of childhood, middle school, to be more accurate. The day he had come to school, bored out of his mind, staring outside the window, wondering if he could jump on the closest tree to escape this prison. What he had not expected was an angel to come and sit beside him, well technically, the teacher had made her sit next to him, and he hadn't noticed her until she poked his shoulder lighter, causing him to jerk back and gasp, earning a few chuckles from the glass as the teacher just sighed in defeat.
"Wh-Hello."
"Do you need help with that?" She asked, pointing at the math equation in front of him. He looked at his notebook and remembered that's what they were supposed to me doing- damn that was a lot of daydreaming.
"Yeah, I guess...do you... know how to solve it?" He asked the new girl, too afraid to make eyecontact.
"Here, I'll show you." Turning to face him, she pulled his scribbled notebook closer.
"I'm San by the way."
That day onwards, a nice and quiet introvert at the back of the class finally began to crack open. From time to time, you'd hear him whispering to her, talking about some anime or a film. Often, he'd be telling her about his cat, Byeol, and how pretty she was. During break you wouldn't see San next to her for the first five minutes, no, he'd be sprinting across the campus,jumping down the stairs to go to the canteen to get her something to drink with her lunch, or a sweet snack, regardless of how many times she'd say 'it's fine.' During self study hours, she wouldn't be studying, no, she'd be busy tutoring her athletically gifted friend, he was...a little dumb, but that's okay, he was hardworking and she'd tell him she'd help him where he'd get stuck, explain and tutor where needed- especially in math.
As they grew older, he grew into his body, his self-esteem issues slowly subsiding, his feelings for her deepening, yet, never enough to tip the scale, at the bring of an edge but never enough to flow out he had to keep it all under control, because that's just how San was, patient and calm, he would never take a step if there was an ounce of the doubt when it came to how she felt about him. Though watching her spread her wings into the beauty she was, well, was somewhat problematic for him. Especially when she'd come to him, smiling like that, greeting him with the gentle voice of hers, asking him if he liked her haircut.
"What do you think?"
"It's...very nice."
"Just very nice?"
"You'd look pretty to me even if you were bald."
Conversations like these would have her heart hammering against her ribcage, and she'd pray to God that he couldn't hear it. She'd pray for it when he'd be walking home side by side, his shoulder bumping into hers, or his hand brushing against hers, when he'd take her bag from her, clicking his tongue at how heavy it would be,
"You trynna' build muscles like me?" He'd ask, though he was still very fragile, he'd only started going to the gym when he noticed how the 'basketball team captain', had decided to ask her to 'help tutor him too', though she had politely declined.
"Hmm? Of course not, Advanced Math books are just big like that..."
"Why do you do this to yourself, dove?" A nickname she had gained over the time, one used only by him.
"Because I wanna teach one day, I love teaching, I want to make sure people realise subjects aren't difficult or they aren't dumb, it's just that they're not taught properly."
Yup, he was smitten, on his knees, begging for her please ( he was also an idiot).
Ended up in college with her, though in a different major, like hell the now 'mountain of a man', no longer the kitten-like fragile boy, was going to major in math- business was a way better option.
This wasn't a bad situation, though they rarely had a few classes together, she'd still make time to see him, to text him as soon as class would end, but he'd already be standing at the exit, waiting for her with a coffee in hand and a dimpled smile, reserved just for her.
In no means was Choi San an extrovert, but somehow along the line he had met one, who later claimed that his MBTI had changed to an introvert too, though he doubted that notion- Jung Wooyoung.
Boistorous, noisy, obnoxious but a genuinely nice person at heart, Wooyoung was his companion in his major's classes, he was also the first person to know about San's little secret, since San trusted him enough to know, though Wooyoung assured him he had figured it out as soon as San introduced him to her as his "bestfriend".
"You're an idiot." Wooyoung snorted, taking off his shoes as he walked into the 4th years tiny apartment.
"What? Why?"
"You really think I didn't know?"
"How did you kno-'
"You can be bestfriends with a girl since childhood, unless a) one of you confessed to the other and got friendzoned but still chose friendship or b) neither of you confessed but are secretly crushing over the other."
"Wow, should've been a psychologist instead of a business major."
"What can I say, Sannie? I am a man of many talents."
Things progressed like this for a long time, Wooyoung watched from the sidelines how the two would basically act like a couple that was not a couple- almost everyone at campus thought they were a couple and Wooyoung was basically the third wheel. Not that he minded, and San appreciated him for that, he was glad Wooyoung's relationship with his dove was platonic- borderline sibling-like.
But Choi San was a fool, one that Choi San, at the fresh age of 25 wished that perhaps he'd be able to take the next steps, but something at the back of his mind held him back, were his personal desires as important as this friendship?
Which is why he stood there watching his best friend get ready for her date, her date with Wooyoung. After a conversation he did not like, but what could he say? He was too afraid to even confess, and well, Wooyoung wasn't a bad guy, and technically, he was his friend.
"I'm gonna ask her out, Sannie." The brunnet sighed, before taking a sip of his coffee, humming at the bitterness, perhaps this bitterness was sweeter than the bitter taste that had developed in San's mouth at the statement.
"W-why?" The bigger man with the fragile heart whispered.
"Because...I like her...I'm sorry but...I gave you time, so much of it and...I just wanted you to be the first one to know...if she says no, we'll all still be friends, but if she says yes...San, I won't hold back."
That had led to her first anniversary with Wooyoung, then the second and finally a day before their third anniversary San had texted the couple how he wouldn't be able to make it to their anniversary party because he had work that day and he wished them the best.
What he did not expect was someone knocking on his door at 2 am, opening the door to find a tear stained Wooyoung, only for him to punch the taller man in the face, watching him stumble backwards then wipe his eyes and sigh, "I swear- if you weren't such a great guy, I would've stabbed you."
"What the F*CK WOOYOUNG?"
That night was the first time he had seen Wooyoung cry, cry about how when she read the message she had become a mess, one that even Wooyoung couldn't fix, begging him for forgiveness how she made a mistake, how even though she was happy with Wooyoung, her heart belonged to someone else, someone who she thought she could move on from since he never confessed, since he never liked her back the way she did, and though the text was a confirmation of that, she couldn't bear lying to Wooyoung, to give him only half the love of what he deserved, knowing he deserved someone who would teach him the true meaning of love, because she was a teacher with only one student in mind, the idiot of a man- Choi San.
That night San couldn't sleep, not a wink, he processed the words over and over again, so did she like him? Should he confess to her? Now? Wouldn't that make it awkward? Or should he wait? Would that be a mistake?
Though his questions were answered in the morning when the doorbell rang at 7 am, making the sleepy man sigh as he stumbled to the door with blurry eyes, opening it still half asleep, only the slap he received woke sobered him up quickly,
"OW- WH- WHY ARE YOU JUST LIKE WOOYOUNG!?"
"SHUT UP! DONT TAKE HIS NAME! I HURT HIM BECAUSE OF YOU!" Never in the many years of knowing her, had she raised her voice like that.
"I-"
"NO! LISTEN TO ME!" She yelled before shoving him inside so she could continue yelling inside, "I like you- and you- you d*ck you could tell him you liked me but you couldn't tell me!? All those horrible dates you watched me go to, but you couldn't stop me?! You knew you liked me yet you let Woo ask me out!?"
"I- I didn't wanna ruin what we had..."
"San, I- what if I had married Woo? Huh? Then what? When you already had half my heart, I-"
She couldn't finish her sentence though, because the next thing she knew, he was smothering her with all that pent up love, his lips pressing against hers with a ferocity she had ever seen in her gentle Sannie, wanting to claim what he was too scared to touch before.
He only pulled back when she lightly pushed him back, gasping for air, looking up at him all flushed and pink, her swollen lips just enticing him even more,
"W-what was that?" She breathed out.
"Never say you're marrying anyone but me, I would've ruined the wedding even if it meant being thrown out."
"You're an idiot Sannie."
"No, I just had a teacher who could teach me math, but couldn't teach me how to love properly - guess she was learning too."

Tumblr media
Okay, AND, y’all…how much is that above moment 100% the spirit animal of the ‘I thought it was a picture’ moment from ye olden J2 days??

Yep!
The “us-ie” 😭😭😍.
And in case anyone isn’t aware, “us-ie” is the word that Jared used to describe the above photo.
-which, I mean…the moment itself is of course already fucking precious beyond belief just as a stand-alone thing.
But then Jared deciding to dub it their “us-ie”because I guess “selfie” wasn’t a husbandly-enough word…

Heya, hope you're doing well. I was wondering on the yans with a body conscious darling? Specifically with their tummy and thighs, totally not feeling body conscious myself lol.
Thank you! (Also may I be 💍 anon? :0)
ARRRRAARAR I LOVE THIS ASK
As a bigger girl myself, I am no stranger to being body self conscious. While I am on a really successful weight loss journey right now, my thighs and tummy are my most embarrassing areas in my mind. I'm happy to make an short piece based on this, 💍 anon!
First and foremost, there are two stand out yanderes who love your tummy and thighs. This would be Joey and Fritz. Joey's town is old fashioned, and Fritz is literally in the olden days. Back then, wide hips were seen as a sign a lady could carry a child easier and bear more. Since both Joey and Fritz crave a family, the adore it. Upon learning you are self conscious, they would bathe you in compliments, and whether or not it removes the anxiety it does feel nice.
The Mean-girls, or at least Maggie, have unending confidence. Because of this, they don't really know how to make you feel hot. They've always either told themselves they were gorgeous, or told losers at school they weren't. So, Maggie and Sasha would take you shopping, in an attempt to retail therapy the sadness away. This happens to be Sasha's favorite pass time. Meanwhile, Lindsey would be trying to figure out what conscious meant.
Ahmed would go the route of showering you in compliments about your body, but mostly just tries to make you feel better by putting himself down. You feel ugly? Don't worry, your a godess, it's a lowly worm like him who's the disgusting one. Patrick would just try to plow you, telling you the nastiest things he can think of pertaining to the parts that make you upset. Telling you to get used to loving your stomach because it will swell much bigger when he fucks you full of his seed, or how he wants you to trap his head between your thighs.
Mattias would be gentle, and kind. As I mentioned, he craves physical touch from you, and loves using your body as a pillow. He would explain in more than just compliments, but rather a speech about how beautiful you are to him. He would also offer to go to the gym with you, and teach you how to use some of the machines there, if only so he can see you in workout clothes.
A thicker woman was seen as beautiful in ancient Athens, so Puck would be very confused as to why you didn't think you were beautiful. He would take you to see human statues and paintings of beautiful women, to show you the similarities in your figure and there's.
Carl would definitely take a similar approach to Patrick, and try and fuck the negative thoughts out of your mind. He'd also be more possesive, telling you not to think bad things about HIS possessions, his girls tummy, his girls thighs.
Gabriel wouldn't be the kindest about it, telling you to not worry about vanity, and to not insult your appearance, as his God made you in his image. Joshua wouldn't say anything, to stubborn to compliment you the way he wished. Instead, the few times you both cuddle he would silently pay more attention to those area.
Last but not least, Johannes is to awkward to voice how he feels, so he would do whatever Fritz told him to...

If we're talking about bnha, while I'm not really into it anymore, I remember your old next-gen kiddos and I liked the Kiribaku kid you made. I think making her quirkless was a very interesting idea, especially the part where Bakugou was worried about her getting bullied by other kids and felt extreme guilt because he was once like those kids.
Thank you so much!!! I wanna kind of revise my bnha nextgen especially since I’ve turned my old tddk family into my own ocs for olden town haha

The Garden: A Story of a Stable Boy And a Princess- Chapter One
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lando Norris × Princess! Reader
Summary: Royalty AU. In which a small town stable boy with big dreams falls for the princess of F1 Kingdom. Will the stars align for such an unlikely pair?
Things to know: This is a fantasy/royalty AU so it's placed in the olden times! The setting of our story is F1 Kingdom; and in replace of F1 racing we have horse racing instead. So it's the same concept as F1 but on horses rather than cars. Each team (Mclaren, Ferrari, Alpine, Redbull, etc.) represents a different village in the kingdom. And that's the gist of what you need to know! Hope you enjoy!
Chapter Summary: The last thing princess y/n expected on her day out was to nearly be trampled by a horse- and it’s rather cute owner.
Warnings: Cussing, (very light) mention of death of parent, probably typos.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being F1 kingdom’s princess came with a lot of responsibilities. Approve a court order, attend a meeting with a kingdom overseas, discuss how to feed the poorer citizens of your country. And somehow squeeze in a 3 pm dress fitting on top of all that.
That’s why you enjoyed your days off more than usual.
As much as you loved being a part of the royal family, it was indeed taxing work. The happiness of your citizens fell onto your shoulders and if you were unable to meet their requirements, they could surely turn on you within a week. Your father had prepared you for these tasks growing up- ever since he realized how unlikely it was for mother to make it to your adulthood.
And with your coronation in short of 3 months, you were more than prepared to take role as the queen of F1 Kingdom.
This kingdom meant everything to you. Your focus was purely on each village, from Ferrari to Williams, you loved each one the same. There wasn’t a thought on your mind aside from your role as princess.
Well, that was until you met him.
You lie in the grass of the royal garden, reading your favorite book.
On the days you had even a single resting moment, you would come to the garden. Something about the flowers comforted you- from orchids to peonies and hydrangeas to daisies- you would never tire of their colorful petals and comforting aroma. You enjoyed sitting at the fountain, running your fingers through the water and feeding the kind koi fish. On top of the fountain lay a grand statue of the castle, your home ever since you were born. A pond in the distance was home to many amphibians, their croaks like a song to your ears.
And the times when you were lucky to see a rabbit hopping through the grass or a caterpillar crawling amongst the bushes were especially exciting. You felt at peace out here.
Peace was a gift when you were a princess.
The garden was rather private, with walls blocking the outside world from getting in. Part of you was thankful for that, you couldn’t bear if anything were to happen to your safe space. It was adjacent from the stables and you could spot the window to your room from where you were sitting; but other than that, this garden was all yours.
You roll over on your stomach, flipping to another page in your book. Peace. You loved that word.
That’s when you heard it.
“WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!! Yield horse, yield!!”
A shout. A rather panicked shout that started it all.
Your reflexes kicked in immediately, jumping to your feet and looking around for whoever was there. You suddenly saw a horse barreling out of the stables and towards you. Someone seemed to be atop the stallion.
“WATCH OUT!!”
And watch out you did, frantically hopping out of the way and dodging behind the fountain. You let out a yelp as the horse ran faster through the garden. You were safe, but it was too late for your favorite rose bush to be spared. The mysterious horse and it’s rider trampled over the shrub, scarlet petals falling to the ground like teardrops from your eyes. You gasped witnessing the scene in front of you.
Finally, after what could’ve easily been your untimely death, the charger stopped. The horse was as black as midnight and one of the tallest steeds you had ever seen. If you hadn’t nearly been killed by the reckless animal, you would’ve found it beautiful.
Speaking of reckless.
A young man hopped off the stallion, hand over his heart. His eyes were wide, petrified even- as if he was the one who was almost run over.
His dark curls bounced as he frantically jogged over to you, and you’d be lying if you said he wasn’t a sight to look at. Loose white collar shirt tucked into his trousers, sweat painting his chest and forehead. A few of the curls stuck to the sides of his head and scruff decorated his rather sharp jawline.
Despite the way your heart lept from your chest, you were furious.
“You absolute buffoon!!” Was the first thing from your lips. You stomped over to him, finger in his face. “How idiotic do you have to race through this garden? My private garden, mind you! Do you even have a brain?!”
The man was silent, staring at you with wide eyes. This only fueled your madness. You ran over to the squashed rose bush, a cry escaping you. “Oh, my poor roses!” You gasped, kneeling down next to the crime scene. You felt the man’s presence behind you. “I could have you beheaded!!” You weren’t sure if you actually meant that or not. The wilted leaves lay miserably, and with it, your heart.
“My princess…” You heard him whisper. He had a sweet accent and part of you wondered where he was from. But that should be the last thing on your mind.
Brows furrowed, you stood up to face him. When you turned around he was kneeling in front of you, head hung low. At this scene, you shuffled on your feet awkwardly. You never did like the whole bowing thing.
“My flowers are ruined because of you and that horse,” Was all you said. It may seem silly to him but you didn’t care. That garden meant more than life itself to you.
The man stood up, guilt written on his face. He could barely meet your gaze. “My sincerest apologies,” He said, hand to his heart. “Arrow- er, the horse- got loose and I had no way of stopping him. He is one of the wildest ones.”
You crossed your arms. “You work in the stables?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Yes madame,”
“Do a better job.”
To your surprise, he let out a light chuckle. You had just given him an order and he is laughing. You sucked your teeth and glared at him.
“Pardon my ignorance princess, please,” He said, a smile tugging the corner of his lips. You couldn’t help but fight off a grin as well. “It happens to be my first day and I’ve already made a grand impression haven’t I?”
Your head turned to look at the horse, who had found a lovely patch of grass to chew on. You couldn’t help but relax your shoulders at the sight. Somehow, with the cheeky grin of this unnamed stable boy, you felt at ease. “He is rather beautiful, I must say,” You whispered, giving the man a soft smile.
The man’s eyes lit up. “Arrow is one of the finest in the stable,” He said proudly. “That is, when he does not run away.”
You chuckle. You quite liked his eyes. “I suppose I’ll spare you from a beheading today,” You joked. “Despite the chaos you managed to stop- Arrow, was it? From hurting me. For that I am grateful.” You curtsied and bowed your head in thanks.
“Oh princess, I should have never let him out in the first place,” He said sheepishly. You could see his cheeks heating up.
You giggled and you swore you could’ve seen him smile even wider at the sound. “That is true,” You shrugged. “Why was he out, may I ask?” You were genuinely curious. Typically, the stable boys were only there to do the dirty barn work. Horses were removed if they were needed, and it didn’t quite seem like Arrow had a job a moment ago.
The man rubbed the back of his neck shyly. “A rather stupid reason, I admit.” He muttered. “I can be brainless at times.”
You laughed. “We have already confirmed that, haven’t we?” You said. He grinned at you.
“Well, when you put it that way.”
His smile made you smile. You had no idea why.
“I have this dream of racing in Formula One someday,” He admitted, almost ashamed. “I hope nothing more than to ride the fastest horses in the kingdom, passing the finish line for my home village. I thought I would get a bit of practice in during my stable work… Clearly I have been in over my head.”
“Home village?”
“Mclaren.”
You found the corners of your lips upturning. “My favorite F1 team,” You chuckled. His eyes twinkled brighter than any star you had ever seen. “What is your name? Or should I continue to call you stable boy?”
Stable boy laughed at that and your heart swelled. “As nice of a ring ‘stable boy’ holds, my name is Lando. Lando Norris.” He held out his hand. You took it, and he kissed it, politely bowing once again. “And you are the most etheral sight in this garden, I must admit.”
“Oh, you flatter me,” You blushed deeply. In all the years of being princess, admirers from all over the world would fight for your affection. Princes, sultans, emperors, even. None of them deserved even a second of your day, despite how much your father pushed for you to marry. You were focused on your work, and nothing was to get in the way of that.
It also didn’t help that none of these rich men made your heart flutter like this stable boy did.
“I only speak the truth Princess Y/N,” Lando said, smirking. Your name fell from his tongue like velvet. You wish you could wipe that smirk off his face. “I do however feel horrible about your roses… They were second to your beauty.”
You bit your lip sadly, looking over at the ruined bush. “I did love them,” You whispered. Lando gave you a solemn look. “But I shall take time out of my schedule to plant them once again, I love a good project.” You had no idea when you would have free time again. Just the thought stressed you out horribly, but you tried to hide it.
“You are a busy woman,”
“Indeed,”
He sighed, shoulders slumped. It was clear he felt very guilty. Your eyes trailed over to Arrow once again, who was occupied with another fresh patch of grass. You grinned. “It seems as though Arrow just needed to get out of the stables for a bit,” You said to Lando, hoping to change the topic. The roses were an issue for another day.
Lando smiled thankfully. “He and I are one in the same in that way,” He whispered, staring at the stallion. You coked your head to the side in confusion.
“You don’t enjoy the barn?”
“Oh princess, would anyone enjoy the barn?”
You smiled slightly. “I suppose you’re right,”
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work for this family, do not misread me,” He quickly followed up. “But I feel as though I am meant to do more. I work from pay day to pay day, scooping waste and hardly making it by. I dream of a life far different from this.”
His story tugged at your heart with every word. You knew he could easily be saying this for pity, a raise- anything to benefit himself. But you didn’t believe that thought. You couldn’t.
Growing up you were always good at reading people like a book. Your father said it’s what makes you such a good leader- but you like to think it’s for a bundle of other reasons too.
Lando is a bit harder to read, and that intrigued you. He seemed like a complex man with a fine mind and future ahead of him. What seemed as a reckless stable boy at first turned out to be a kind gentleman with hope, and that was the last thing you had expected.
Suddenly, his laugh knocked you out of your thoughts. “I am so so sorry princess Y/N,” He chuckled, hand over his heart. You remained silent, confused as to why he was laughing. What a mystery, he was. “Here I am pouring my problems out on you when I have completely messed up your entire day. I apologize deeply. I get carried away sometimes. I will grab Arrow and you will never be bothered by us again, I can swear on that.”
He then started retrieve the stallion and you gasped. “Wait, Lando!” You interrupted him, more frantic than you would’ve liked to admit. You probably seemed insane. Nevertheless he turned around with an eyebrow cocked and a dorky grin on his lips. That hypnotizing grin. “Walk with me, I would like to show you something.”
He seemed confused by this. “If I am missing from work any longer I am sure there will be repercussions-“
“Screw the repercussions, I will see as though nothing will happen to you,” You cut him off and started walking towards the sight you wanted to show. You were almost as shocked at your own words as Lando was.
“Well, I can see why you are so beloved, Princess,” He said excitedly, jogging after you. “You are quite surprising. In the best way, of course.”
You tried to fight off the intense blush that followed his words.
You led him through a short passageway covered in vines. You could see him out of the corner of your eyes, messing with the leaves. You smiled internally and led him to a patch of dirt and weeds.
“Here,” You said, pointing to the sight.
Lando sucked in a breath. “Oh, I- uh, that is incredible. Very grassy, and uh- weeds. I do love weeds.” He muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
God. He was adorable
You squatted down, motioning for him to join you. He did, and you showed him a small floret growing atop one of the stems. “Look at this,” You whispered.
He squinted his eyes and nodded. “It is a flower bud,”
“Not just any flower bud, a viola bicolar,” You smiled widely at him.
He didn’t seem to understand. “Wha- Is that french, or?”
You jokingly shoved him down and he let out the most beautiful laugh. “No, Lando, it is a pansy flower,” You said. He sat back up to join you. “Right now this pansy is just a bud, correct? Viola bicolor is known for blooming in the winter, which is why even in the brightest conditions it has yet to reach its full potential.”
“Interesting,” You heard him whisper, but when you turned to face him, his attention wasn’t on the bud, he was staring at you. You flushed under his gaze, but held his eye contact.
“This flower is beautiful because in the coldest, darkest conditions, it blooms,” You say, smiling. His brows furrow together, thinking hard. “Maybe you are like a viola bicolor. Even though everything seems cold and dark right now, you will still bloom into everything you are meant to be.”
Lando smiled and looked down at the bud again, taking it gently between his fingers. As he did this, he brushed up against your hand and you felt the callousness of him. It ignited your whole body at once. “So you are calling me a pansy?” He joked, admiring the floret. “It is wonderful Princess. Thank you.”
“Call me Y/N,” You said, and his head looked up at you in curiosity. “I do love the whole ‘princess’ thing, but I enjoy hearing you say my name as well.”
That was bold.
Lando stood up and helped you to your feet. His face was lit up with the most lovable expression. “As you wish, Y/N,” He said, not quite letting go of your hand.
Suddenly, you heard a booming voice.
“Y/N!!” It yelled. “Where are you?? You are needed in the dining hall at once!!”
You gasped, panic filling you. You dropped his hand, the absence cold on your skin. “My father,” You said, pushing Lando. He looked just as scared. “Go get Arrow and return to the stables at once! I will distract him.”
He nodded and started running towards Arrow, but suddenly stopped. You gave him a frantic look but he just gave you a cheeky grin, just as he has all day. “When will I see you again?” He asked, eyes hopeful.
You hated to admit how much your heart started beating at his words, but you hated the thought of your father finding him more. “Never, if you do not run! Go!” You pushed. He disappeared behind the shrub and vines and you let out a sigh of relief.
“I am over by the pansies papa!” You yelled out. “Come over!”
Your father appeared from the opposite direction that Lando ran off to, and you thanked whatever spirits were watching over you in that moment. “There you are!” He said, walking over to you. “One of our knights informed me that a horse got loose from our stable. I was worried sick.”
Your eyes widened. “Oh, well I have not seen any horse in the garden,” You said confidently. “Surely it will return soon, yes?” Very soon, little did he know.
Your father sighed and rubbed his chin. “What have you been up to all day? Your face is terribly red.” He asked, feeling your forehead with the back of his palm. You chuckled and shrugged nervously. “Hurry and clean up, we have business to attend.”
“But it is my day off-“
“Oh sweetheart, we never truly have days off.”
You bit your lip and begrudgingly followed the king back to the castle, a sigh escaping your lips.
You were less worried about your next day off, more so about when you would see that mysterious stable boy again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Another beer, please,” Sebastian held up his cup, hoping for a cute wench to take it.
Max stared at Sebastian. “No, no, what happens next??” He asked. The group laughed at this. “What business did the princess have to attend? Did the stable boy ever achieve his dream of becoming a racer??”
Sebastian smirked as the bartender poured him another brew. “Well, well, look who is interested- thank you love- in my story now.” He chuckled.
George Russel, Lewis’ teammate for Mercedes held up a glass. “He truly pulls you in with the stories, does he not?” He chuckled.
Max didn’t even care about the teasing, he just wanted the next part of the tale. “What next??”
Sebastian shrugged, looking around the tavern. It was as busy as ever as he took a swig of his drink. “Ah, hell. The night is still young, I suppose I could continue.”

JAN MOIR: She gave Harry an icy stare any husband would know - watch what you're saying mister! by u/Von_und_zu_
JAN MOIR: She gave Harry an icy stare any husband would know - watch what you're saying, mister! Full of sarcasm and snark. Moir sees right through the facade and does not hold back.***'I am so, so happy you're here. Thank you,' said Meghan, giving the famous American television host that special big hug she reserves for famous American television hosts. \***'We always talk about in the olden days if your kids were under your roof, you knew what they were up to,' he said, making a steeple with his fingers to illustrate the shape of a roof, presumably so that any hobbits or igloo-dwellers out there would know what he was talking about.'And at least they were safe, right?' But were they, Harry? Were they really? They could be trying on Nazi uniforms or playing naked billiards or taking cocaine or all sorts. You just never know with kids.\***'So if me voicing what I have overcome will save someone... I'll take a hit for that,' added Meghan, giving viewers an inspiring example of the emotional benevolence that makes her so very special.Indeed, in the four years that the Sussexes have lived in America, Meghan has perfected her gracious duchess-in-exile persona: regal but relatable, grand and bland in equal measure.She smiled beatifically when she talked of 'change for good' and her 'amazing' children, but sometimes would look stonily at Harry when it was his turn to talk on camera. Husbands around the world would recognise and interpret that icy, wifely stare in seconds: Watch what you are saying, mister. \***Sometimes you wonder how Harry and Meghan have the nerve, the sheer brassy audacity to do what they do. Of course, the altruistic urge is obvious in launching an online Parents' Network. One can see the essential goodness in building an 'empowered community of families' to 'support and uplift each other'.Yet it is no secret that the Sussexes are estranged – to a greater or lesser degree – from their own parents. Parents such as Mr T Markle, who lives in reduced circumstances in a dusty Mexican border town. The 80-year-old is in poor health and has yet to meet his daughter Meghan's husband or be introduced to his two grandchildren, who he is longing to get to know before he dies.Is there a network for him to join? Or what about a network for King Charles, the parent who has become so concerned about his younger son's public indiscretions and confessions that he reportedly avoids taking his calls and keeps their meetings to a minimum?It is all very confusing. Do the Sussexes mean well – or are they just mean? Perhaps you think I'm being too cynical, but I'll take a hit for that.https://archive.ph/EOWDyhttps://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-13707697/JAN-MOIR-Harry-icy-stare-husband-watch-saying-mister.html post link: https://ift.tt/xFD5r1m author: Von_und_zu_ submitted: August 05, 2024 at 04:34AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. I read your swordcrossed lesbians fic without reading the book at all so I have to ask: tell me more about the lesbians!
oh, you are so brave jbnkjbngkjn. thank you for taking the time to read it and to reach out -- that's so incredibly kind of you! i'm happy to talk about the girls, but i AM gonna put it under a cut so as not to spoil anyone who may want to read the book but hasn't gotten around to it yet.
so uh. swordcrossed is a fantasy romance novel set in a port-side city called glassport. it's vaguely historical, there are other towns and cities and politics and such at play, but none of that matters. the main thrust of the book is that mattinesh jay, the heir to a wool and textiles house, is engaged to sofia cooper, the youngest child of an up and coming house that works in wines and liquors.
matti needs to marry sofia because her family has money that can save his from collapsing entirely. sofia needs to marry matti because his family name carries respect and historical value, as his house is much more established than hers.
the book itself is about mattinesh (matti) and luca piere and their time together as matti attempts to 1) save his family from financial ruin 2) marry himself off 3) actually ruin his own wedding instead. it's a great time! i thoroughly enjoyed it! that being said, i think sofia cooper, as the other side to matti's coin, is INCREDIBLY compelling and i wanted to see SO much more of her than we got to. hence, the fic.
(side note: the jay family, as a house devoted to wool and textiles, follows the rites and rituals of the goddess huna. she oversees such things. the cooper family, working in alcohol, worships maha, the god of wine and agriculture. that's not super important beyond fun worldbuilding, but if you're wondering why those names pop up in the fic, that's why!)
sofia is rumored to be in love with another man, adrean vane. he's a songwriter, and he wrote a song about her that went the ye-olden equivalent of viral called "wildflower under the glass," so everyone -- matti and his family included -- is pretty sure she loves and actually wants to marry adrean, and this whole marriage is against her wishes. (it is not. she fucking hates adrean. he's a tool.)
sofia's story, as far as i've been able to deduce from the book, is: she knew she had to marry someone for her family's sake. she had this guy hanging around who was harassing and, essentially, all but stalking her, and he managed to convince the entire town that they were secretly in love this entire time.
she never, at any point, had the ability to control either her narrative or her future. any opportunity to do so -- whether through falling in love with someone else, pursuing a career that interested her, or literally just telling a guy to fuck off -- was cut off at the pass by needing to remain desirable marriage material. she could do that, and she did it, and it wasn't great for her but she's very stubborn and determined. as long as matti knows where she stands, and as long as she knows where he stands, the two of them can make this damn thing work.
(and then matti goes and falls in love with someone else, and starts sleeping with him while sofia is planning their goddamn wedding, which. man. that one sucks, matti, i have to say. you could've handled the whole thing better.)
anyway. mayanesh is matti's younger sister. she's pretty commonly referred to as the "rose oil" in any situation, because she's great at smoothing ruffled feathers and making people feel comfortable and welcome. matti loves her! they're two years apart, they look very similar, and maya is one of the only people matti actually confides in about anything he's thinking or feeling. which means she is one of the first people to know both that he is not happy about the impending marriage AND that he's falling for someone else.
as the person who is universally recognized as The One Who Makes Everyone Happy, she sees that her brother isn't going to put his whole heart into marrying this beautiful girl. so she goes about helping sofia to plan the wedding instead. it's taking something off matti's very full plate, it's making sofia feel supported and welcomed to the family, win-win!
it is very clear from quite early on that it's not... completely winning, though, because no matter how it shakes out, maya loses. if the wedding is called off, her family enters financial ruin; if it goes ahead, the woman she loves marries someone else. her brother, no less, so they'll be living under the same roof with no way to actually develop the relationship the way she wants. poor girl.
there's another layer here, too, which is that maya quickly becomes a confidant for sofia, as well. so she not only knows that sofia isn't entirely happy with this marriage, she knows that sofia has never had the chance to pick the things that would make her happy. whatever happens to sofia, it's always something she is tied up in, rather than something she wants. so obviously maya isn't going to run up to her and say, "well, i have feelings for you too, so there!" because sofia wouldn't want another person forcing her into the role of the love interest.
except that sofia already knows that she loves maya, and that she can't marry maya, and is so caught up in all the other shit that she has very little idea that maya feels the same way. i don't blame her; she has an obsessive creep following her around AND an unfaithful fiance. one crisis at a time, ykwim?
you might be asking, what does maya get out of this? great q. the book doesn't tell us that much. sofia is beautiful, sure, and sofia is from a wealthy family, and she is smart and she is capable. great. but why does she fit so well with maya?
this is all conjecture. but. i personally think it would be pretty difficult to be the one who is not the heir to the house, whose opinion isn't often consulted, and whose job is primarily to "make everyone happy." that's a ROUGH lot in life. and one of the things we get to see from sofia is that she listens. she asks questions and she learns.
she does pick up the hand signals from maya, and she appreciates maya's skills in planning, attitude management and design. she appreciates maya's knowledge, her creativity, her kindness. after her entire life spent being the one who exists to make other people feel good about themselves, it's probably pretty damn nice to have someone look at you and admire things no one else has even seen before.
anyway. the fic is canon compliant, in so much as it can be. when the wedding comes around, adrean vane challenges for sofia's hand and loses. then, at luca's urging, maya challenges for sofia's hand and. wins!
after some quick clarification, it is confirmed that maya isn't just challenging the marriage to keep it from going forward. she does, in fact, want to take her brother's place. sofia is elated about this, her parents approve, jay house still welcomes her and matti is free to be with someone he actually loves -- and so is sofia! thank fucking god, am i right.
i definitely had to flesh out a lot of sofia's relationships with her own family members, and i had to figure out her dynamic in the day-to-day with maya a little bit more. but the general broad strokes, and the idea behind them falling in love, for me, is that sofia finally found someone who respected her boundaries AND loved her enough to make her happy, no matter what that looked like. and maya found someone who saw her and listened to her and appreciated her, and would give back anything she gave in equal measure. and that's pretty cool.
tl;dr goddamn i loved the girls. they compel me.

jarilo-VI was home to quite a wide variety of characters, belobog or the underworld. but sadly you had not know much about what lay above you as for your whole life you had resided in the underground of the wintry planet. but you didn't really care as this was your home and you wouldn't change it at all. if anything the colourful cast of characters only deepened the love for your home.
you had felt quite natural to you that when allowed you joined wildfire. you were passionate about your home and wanted to support it in everyway possible to your ability. they quickly became a very close knit circle of friends - even closer than the very communal town of boulder town. and you were very thankful for all the opportunities they granted you.
and so it was very natural for you to be acquainted specifically with the members such as oleg, natasha and seele. however there was one member that you felt rather confused about, and that member was the one and only sampo. he was well known for his regular traverse between the underworld and overworld and you admired him for not getting caught but he did sometimes annoy you a bit too much.
but nonetheless you still remained somewhat friendly with the man, even of he constantly tried to sell you things. eventually he started offering you what he called a 'friendship discount'. you never clasded him as a friend but if he viewed you in some sort of way similar you reconned that maybe you could give him a chance and try and pursue a friendship with him.
even though some may of questioned you, it actually turned out much better than you anticipated. sure he pushed you to the point of wanting to punch him but behind that he was quite sweet in your opinion. you mostly enjoyed being with him and sometimes you couldn't understand why people would be so annoyed with him but then he would try and convince you to buy something then you understood.
but apart from that your friendship with the man was overall positive. so much so that eventually he felt as if he could show you something pretty special to him. now you knew of it but you never had a clue where it was and if it was even real.
kitsune stories had been passed down upon generation after generation. a sort of fairytale for young kids in the underworld. and no too far from the bustling boulder town laid an actual olden shrine. not many actually knew where it was but those who did often still left gifts and such for the kitsune that took them. sampo was of course delighted on receiving these.
he never liked the idea of staying at the shrine but wouldn't complain about taking the gifts and selling them on - sure it may of been a tad bit scummy but he didn't really care. but he had never told anyone of it anyway. not until he had shown you. you of course were a bit excited to know the stuff described in your bedtime stories was in fact real.
however you never anticipated what sampo showed you next. for a long time now sampo had developed something that natasha told him was a crush. he loved the fact that you two were friends and couldn't help but start forming a small crush on you. but he never knew if it was reciprocated but figured he could atleast show you what he was. and not too much surprise you loved it.
you thought it weirdly fitted him but upon learning that that was what he used the gifts for, made him receive quite the talking to from you. he was quite elated that you liked it although he could deal without the teasing from you. but he guesses it was fair since that's what he did to you anyway.
it had done nothing to hinder your relationship, if anything making it stronger. sometimes you would still catch him trying to resell gifts and swiftly had to shut him down. but to him it made his crush on you larger and slightly more noticeable. he now started leaving frequent gifts for you and of course you picked up on this.
you didn't think much of his actions until you started really noticing it. you couldn't help but smirk at it. and in fact the feeling was reciprocated but you too never knew that both parties held mutual feelings. maybe it was a bit cruel of you to start teasing him about things like that more often.
eventually either you or him had built up the courage to ask the other out and to no surprise it was met with an outstanding yes. and with that the gifts increased and the more he allowed you to see his more kitsune parts which you still absolutely adored.

Welcome to Night Vale Ep 7
Whoo, I made it through a scary class this morning so let's go for a scary night!
ohhh, history week! Now this is gonna be good. cool motto too.
4000 BC and cave paintings? This imagery is amazing, I'm in love. lol, the religious belief.
only 2 times they were found to be shrieking? I feel like that is underselling it. but Tourism is always a cash cow, so I feel the Mayor. I want a puppy so bad, especially from this town. Don't worry Cecil, I would help if I could, just need a TARDIS.
Yes, the insulting headdress is correct description. Local embarrassment is right.
1745 - The first white man. Lol I love the Desert Bluffs rivalry, did I say that already? tough shit, it's my favorite. Damn Cecil, I think that is 5 parties it took to settle Night Vale.
I like the idea of mosaics idea, can we borrow that? The description of slavery are beautiful and so heavy handed. This is not a complaint btw
Damn Chicago must never tip based on that line. Pot holes even end up in the shape of rats there.
I want to know the official song and moan. No, Cecil, DON'T GO!
Oh thank god, I thought we were about to actually beef with the library. those are all acceptable complaints imo. I hope they make some changes at least.
WHOO go Night Vale! Look, if angels want to tip the scales I won't snitch.
The metal detectors actually sound like a good idea, but can the kids keep the tasers?
Was this made in 2012? (update: I did just google when Sandy Hook happened, I get it)
1943 - chanting in WW2 seems like it worked
oh thank god, 2052, I thought he was gonna say 2024. Only half the population? are you sure that's enough for the council?
Again, I like the music choices
Shared hallucinations are always fun, I support that. As a med student, I would please ask you reconsider your olden beliefs
Yesterday - always a fun history to remember. Unless it's the day after a test, then you forget that shit.
Cecil, if the sun is shouting at you, probably yell back. You know, to assert dominance.
You know, that is nice, to be reminded we made it another day. Thank you Cecil!
Welp, I'm gonna sleep early. This is more relaxing than I thought it would be.

thanks for the tag @ullybug!
Make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! Then, tag as many people as you have WIPs.
I had to cheat a little and rename some files from 'Untitled Document' but here we go-- Not all of these are things I am working on right now but they are fics I consider going back to in the medium-term, including quite a few from the olden days and a few already published on ao3 as wips
a manual for living with defeat (aka soulmate au - marcheron)
marcheron transmigration AU
take my hand (marcheron)
light as the breeze (marcheron)
but-for world (marcheron)
mermaid au (marcheron)

your eyes are soft with sorrow (good omens)

“The writer who sells his soul to a succubus”
“Two star crossed licwrs find each other again after being abandoned in a town”
This goes on and on until you guide his hand towards your breast while he massages it and keeps writing and you touch yourself
