‘Olm Town Road’ - The first episode of 3B that moves the plot forward.

Basically a part 2 of my review for Amphibia Season 3 Episode 12. Part 1 can be found here.

Here are my comments for ‘Olm Town Road’:

*takes out a megaphone* Excuse me, Ms. Sasha Waybright! Please remember that you still have a friend that you mentioned was “captured but still alive”! Please acknowledge that too! Thank you!

There are many things that could’ve been mentioned here but the canon failed to add in this scene: 1) Marcy’s journal. 2) Marcy’s journal. 3) MARCY’S JOURNAL! Anne could’ve shared with Sasha that she had Marcy’s journal and they could, oh I don’t fucking know, READ IT THROUGH BECAUSE MAYBE SHE HAD WRITTEN SOME NOTES??? MAYBE A CLUE OF SOME KIND?? My gosh. Why is Marcy such a taboo to talk about these days? Sir Matt Braly, you created such an interesting and lovable character. There’s absolutely no way any of us will ever forget who Marcy Wu is just because the characters in the show are “in denial” about it. Anne is surely worried about Marcy, right? She could’ve added “And! Don’t forget, we need to save Marcy too!” Jesus. The wasted opportunity of this beginning scene. I cannot even...

What’s particularly interesting about this scene is that Mrs. Croaker KNOWS how to READ these ancient texts. However, Hop-Pop DOESN’T. I wonder why?

Sorry, I just HAD to compare with The Owl House for this scene. I find it so damn sweet that these girls will put their life in danger first to save the person they like love.

Sasha... girl... I know you feel for these olms. Really, I do. But let’s be real here. You betrayed Anne... TWICE. And she gave you a chance... TWICE. This ISN’T your second chance, you know? This is your THIRD.

Kind of a believer that Sashanne is a one-sided ship but... wow. What is this, Anne Savisa Boonchuy? You didn’t have to grab her arm, you know? You could’ve, like, put your hand on her shoulder plate or something. Like platonic friends do. But no. You HAD to feel her muscles. (Oh my frog, that’s such a funny thing to say)

It WAS rather interesting that Sasha lingered her hand where Anne held her earlier.

Well, that was easy.

I don’t know about you guys, but man... Proteus looks awesome as heck! It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in Amphibia and the crew did a damn good job in designing this.

I am so, so incredibly proud of Sasha. She acted like some kind of big sister to these olms and I love her so much more for it. It’s just so heartwarming to see her realize the error of her ways... so much so that, at this point, she’s willing to give up her life for EVERYTHING that Anne stands for. If Anne cares about the frogs, she’ll protect them. If Anne wants to save Amphibia, she’ll be there with her. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about Anne, but it’s a good first step. I’m just... so proud of her. I genuinely smiled throughout this scene.

You broke the head by spinning it instead of using your sword because it’s very dull, isn’t it? Does the Resistance not have any blacksmiths? Can someone please give this kid a sword?!

YET ANOTHER STABBING SCENE? Sigh... let me see... we’ve got... one in ‘True Colors’ - clearly a massive joke... we’ve got another one in ‘Anne-sterminator’... another in ‘Escape To Amphibia’... and now this. FOUR TIMES. FOUR MOTHERFUCKING TIMES. It’s okay. I’m fine. Everything’s fine. No worries. No, no, this is clearly me still crying tears of joy from the Sasha Waybright scenes earlier. This is definitely not tears of sadness--

“Everyone! Find a way to shut it down!” Sasha says to the rest. And then they all proceeded to push every single button in the console. Because of course that’ll work. *thumbs up for effort*

If only they knew that Marcy was possessed and that there’s a possibility that she was the one who created the password, we could’ve had a chance of knowing her birthday or maybe a hint that either of the girls know something about Marcy that we all don’t know. Or even better, either of them can say something about Creatures & Caverns - basically insinuating that they’ve been listening to her ramble about that game. But hah... nope. The best they could come up with in this scene is a comedic scene of ‘12345′. Sigh. So. Much. POTENTIAL.

Oh my god... ooooof. That looks so darn painful. I feel so sorry for them. 

I was half-expecting Sasha to only ask about Anne’s wellbeing, but I was genuinely surprised to hear that she’s also worried about the Plantars. And of course, Lysil and Angwin. That... That was actually really sweet.

The way that Sasha cares for these olms that she only met that day! AHHHH! My emotions! MY EMOTIONS!

This line actually triggered me. I had to pause the episode for a bit to calm myself down because this... hits a little too close to home.

Sasha anime moment! YAS! Man, the Amphibia crew are really doing something different this time, huh?

I took the liberty of translating the first frames in non-Disney-compliance terms. Your welcome. Also, if Anne and Sasha could do it, can we have Marcy do it as Dark Marcy in the future too? Maybe as a treat?

There’s definitely a source for this anger. I don’t think it’s just about Parisia not giving Lysil and Angwin a second chance anymore. Is it about her parents, I wonder? (Hah! We’ll never know because 3A never delved into it. It’s all just gonna be guesses at this point.)

They already got what they wanted, which was to meet Mother Olm. But the fact that Sasha still cares about what happens to Lysil and Angwin? Gosh darn it, Sasha. You make me cry tears of joy again. The huge character development is so awesome! I... I can’t...

YEAH! FINALLY! Prophecy time, baby! Wooo!

Wait... Wait what?! That’s the end of the episode?! NOOOOOO! Where’s the next one?! WHAT???!!

As you can tell from my above comments, I LOVE this half-episode. I enjoyed Sasha’s character development more than I can ever explain in words.

I give this half-episode a 9.5/10. It was almost perfect, but due to Marcy / Dark Marcy not being mentioned, it was... irritating at some parts. But nevertheless, it has a good rating for me.

Losing Heart

Ok so an anon ask if I could give some dialogue to my Corruptioanne post (this one I belive/hope) and that turned into this short thing.

Honestly I’m not to happy with it. But let’s see what you all think.

"Anne, wait!"

The voice, much to her objection, manages to stop her. She knows what's coming.

"Anne, we need to talk to you."

"What for?" turning towards her... fellow human friends, she tries to play dumb.

"About how you've been avoiding us." the blonde teenager doesn't waste time.

Always blunt and direct.

"And about, well, everything else." the black-haired girl continues, redirecting the subject to the issue flawlessly.

A perfect one-two team.

They always seemed to sync together.

Their new experiences only improved that.

"I already told you guys, it's ok."

"Anne-"

"You're a lousy liar. "

"Sasha!"

Well, forgive her for not having as much practice as you.

"Look, you need to hear us properly..., please?" the blonde's voice softens; it's weird.

"..., all right" why did she agree?

"Let me start then," the black-haired girl says, pausing to take a breath.

"First of all, I want to say: I truly regret bringing us here. I-I know it doesn't mean much after everything; I know it was selfish of me, even if I never expected it to work. Anne, I want you to know that-"

"Marcy, stop. You've already said all that." the blonde interrupts. "You know we've repeated it countless times already." her eyes turn towards the Thai girl.

"Anne, I want you to be honest with us, even if it's to tell us you haven't forgiven-"

"I've already forgiven you-"

"No, you have not!" the scream is sudden, and it resounds throughout the village.

"We are sorry, truly sorry." the black-haired girl took over. "But we want you to talk to us. We need to hear your true feelings, or we won't- we won't be able to try and repair all this."

Repair?

Repair!

"REPAIR!?" this scream is even more unexpected, reaching even further, "YOU THINK WE CAN REPAIR THIS!?"

"Anne-"

"You took me away from my family! I had to survive in the wilderness for weeks! Even after that, every day was a struggle for survival! I lived through things that will scar me for life, and for what? So you could run from your problems and live some fantasy?"

The black-haired girl shrunk into herself.

"AND YOU!" she turned towards the blonde. "To you, I've always been some poor idiot to be manipulated and controlled. You've pushed me around my whole life. You've lied to me, used me, endangered my loved ones, all because you have to have power and control!"

"You both disregarded my ideas, never listened to me, and never took me seriously. You both betrayed me. To you, I was always the dumb girl who would bend over backward to accommodate all your wishes. So tell me, why would I try to repair a friendship with you?"

They couldn't look her in the eye.

"W-we're sorry." the black-haired girl said. "Anne, you don't know how much we regret-"

"Oh, you're sorry. Well, 'sorry' doesn't fix anything."

"Hey! Stop it! I'm one thing, but Marcy doesn't deserve-"

"Can you seriously not stop talking? Look, you wanted me to talk to you, and I did. Once we stop Andrias, we can all go our separate-"

"Anne Boonchuy, you better stop right there before you say something you'll regret."

Anne turned towards the voice; the old Saddie Croaker was walking towards them. Looking around, it seems their discussion had attracted quite an audience.

"Now, young lady, I know this is not our business, but I think we need to set some things straight." her mismatched eyes pinned her in place.

"We all understand you have a lot of issues with the other two, and honestly, it's not as if you're not justified." at this, she turned her gaze towards the other teenagers, who at least drop their heads in acknowledgment.

"Having said that, you are unfair to them."

"What-"

"Don't interrupt me, young lady! Yes. You are unfair to them. Let me remind you that you're not the only one who suffered. We've all come to know more about those two, and neither of them had it any easier than you."

"They've also lived through many hardships; they have their own scars, physical and mental. Marcy, there, was on the verge of death, and Sasha has had to rebuild her entire worldview from scratch."

"Most importantly, they're trying to atone for their mistakes. Everything we've accomplished so far is thanks to those two, and they're still doing more."

"So, you just want me to forgive them, trust them again, after everything?"

"Now, I'm not asking you to forgive them right away, but you should at least give them a proper chance."

"I gave them plenty of chances already. They don't deserve more."

"Anne?" the voice, quiet as it was, still reached her as if in perfect silence.

Sprig along with the rest of the Plantars.

"Sprig, good timing. Help me here, the girls and even Mrs. Croaker are-"

"No, we..., um, we heard everything." they must have been louder than she thought.

"Oh, ok. That's perfect, then back me up here."

"Anne, actually I think, Mrs. Croaker is right?" he said hesitantly.

"what? What do you mean-?"

"Look Anne," that's Hop Pop. "As Mrs. Croaker already said, Sasha and Marcy have suffered enough themselves, and if there's one thing I learned in your world is that they had their own circumstances. That doesn't mean you have to forgive them right now, or even that you have to, but I believe they deserve one last chance after everything they've done."

"...You're taking their side?"

"Whoa! Wait right there. we're not talking about sides here, Anne."

"But you are saying I'm wrong."

"No. Look-"

"I can't believe this! You were supposed to support me. But, of course, you've lied to me too."

"Anne!" Sprig speaks up again, "You know Hop Pop still feels bad about that."

"So what it's still true, and you, Sprig, you helped me stand up to Sasha."

"Yeah, I know, but she helped everyone in Wartwood. She protected them, our friends, and our loved ones."

"You, argh, enough. I don't want to talk about this anymore; leave me alone."

"Anne." sprig reaches out but

"I said: LEAVE ME ALONE." A burst of power and her hair turned blue. Branches and leaves grow from her hair, and before anyone can say anything, she disappears in a flash of blue.

Once far enough that no one should find her for a few hours, she stops.

Frustration fills her.

"I can't believe them; they know what they did to me, what they did to them! How can they pretend nothing happened?"

~It is troubling when you're dismissed despite being right, no?~

"...!? Who said that?"

~A friend, one that will listen, one that won't leave you as soon as is convenient.~

"What do you mean?"

~They're using you, you know? All of them. Once you've fulfilled your purpose, they'll abandon you.~

"They-they wouldn't."

~But they already did, no? They took their side.~

"They did."

~I, on the other hand, know you are right. And I know how you can show them you are.~

"You do?"

~Yes, I only need you to do something first. Don't worry. It's not something you were not going to do already.~

"What is it?"

~Take care of Andrias. Simple as that.~

"Andrias?"

~Yes. I told you, I'm a friend, an ally. We want the same, and once Andrias is out of the way. Everyone will see things your way. I'll make sure of it.~

"Really?"

~Yes. I promise you. From the bottom of my HEART.~

Chekhov's Gun or Political Agenda, In Chapter 7: Bagman and Crouch

If the last chapter was an information dump then this chapter is a set-up chapter, a Chekhov's gun! So much for this chapter is just set for the end of this book and for the future books...

Basil from Ministry of Magic is wearing Poncho and a Kilt, seamless blending, people! What happens to used Portkeys? Do they become just another normal muggle things?

Ministry people erased some memory of Mr.Roberts, why couldn't they just easily make him go away with that muggle repelling charms? Why do Ministry people have to tamper with human consciousness? Do excessive use of memory charm on the brain, especially on a muggle brain can have some effect or harm on humans? Why do Ministry people insist on doing things the hard way?

Sometimes I find Harry Potter as the protagonist a boring character. What I mean is, he certainly has a very interesting backstory but there are times when he is completely oblivious. For example, in the last book, it was Hermione's Time-Turner, and on other hand, this particular journey would have benefitted if we would have gotten Hermione's or Ron's point of view.

Wizards and Witches own all kinds of exotic things, for sure. Peacocks, Sundial, etc

This chapter is a subtle realization that Harry Potter's world is in fact a Wizarding World! Having a world cup tournament was a nice touch for us, readers to know this world is filled with all kinds of wizards and witches from all kinds of places. Sadly, we only get to see the final match and not the whole tournament. Although, I do think writing such a tournament would be useless for the narrative as it is just pure world-building and nothing else. Hence, when I complete re-reading all 7 books, I'll go and read these tournaments and matches on Pottermore or Lexicon!

Enter Viktor Krum, only in the name, but he sure will be Ron's nightmare for the coming year!!!! The irony is Ron seems to really like Krum here...

We get a glimpse of Oliver Wood!!! I thought we won't get to see him once he is out of Hogwarts, but I am glad he is here. Basically Puddlemere United reserve team is the reserve team for the British and Irish Quidditch team, and Oliver is part of it, good for you Oliver Wood.

Harry has a crush on Cho, but does Harry knows he has a crush on Cho? Honestly, I cringe a little every time I have to read or write Cho's name...

How come Ron doesn't know other schools, he has 5 older brothers, 2 of which have been full-fledged adults for some time now, how did they didn't tell Ron about the Triwizard tournament?

Not only Quidditch Tournament matches but these different types of wizarding schools sounds intriguing, I'll be researching them after I finish my re-read...!

Mr. Weasley is having fun. He is head of his department. And there are so many ministers introduced here in the small time frame. Cuthbert Mockridge head of Goblin Liaison Office, Gilbert Wimple Committee on Experimental Charms, Arnold Peasegood Obliviator member of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, Bode and Croaker from Department of mysteries, they are also Unspeakables, what Unspeakables? What do they do? There is some witch named Agatha Timms who has eel farm...which is not very wizardlike, is it? Ali Bashir, wants carpets in Britain, but why was it is banned in the first place? All of this is pure information overload for me... But so much fun!!!!! I want to know more about these people and this Wizarding World...

Ludo Bagman looks like a wizard version of Jerry Seinfeld of "Bee Movie". On another hand, Barty Crouch can speakers 150 languages, he is still a human, right? How can he speak so many languages?

Mr.Weasley and the party arrived at the dawn at the tent, so, what did they all do after Bagman and Crouch dumped their plot points? That means I can go and create a bunch of headcanons about their stay in a magical tent...!

Ahdjskks this is hard, I kin them all at once actually. But if I really had to choose, I'd say Anne. I'm just so attached to her emotional growth throughout the show, the way she's being so hard on herself and being overly responsible, because somewhere inside she has this feeling it was her fault. Some of her behaviors aren't the healthiest, but most of the time her current emotional state in the show is so personal to me

22. Favorite season or midseason so far?

Season 2B for sure! Great pacing, lore and finale and I'm really excited to see if 3B could surpass that :D

anne: shes the ONLY ONE I have a solid unchanging headcanon for and it's that she's a trans lesbian and uses she/her and it's so FUNNY to me bc literally everyone else I heard talk about it agrees chshvsjvvjs

sasha: i've gone back and forth on her the most i think, but lately i've been enjoying she/he genderfluid lesbian sasha! though i go back and forth on whether she's a lesbian or bi still sjhsjdjhs. also somewhat related but i like the idea that sasha keeps her long hair bc she deserves to have a manbun

marcy: I go back and forth with her a lot too, between she/they nonbinary lesbian or nonbinary aroace mostly I just haven't been able to settle on one lol. either way none of them are cis or straight in my mind

10. do you think that the show will actually confirm any of the girls' ships?

it's hard to say, and I think it all depends on what matt and the crew put through disney's censors. if a ship were to be canon IN SHOW, based on context clues it would be either sashanne or marcanne. though if there's any possibility of sashannarcy being canon, with poly ships still being seen as 'taboo', I think it would be a korrasami kind of ending. maybe there a timeskip to the three girls sharing an apartment, or spending time together in a way that could be read as either romantic or platonic, and then confirmed by matt post-show. it'll be interesting to see what happens regardless!

11. episodes/moments that you think are underrated?

this discussion came up a couple days ago and I didn't realize that a lot of people don't like cracking mrs. croaker? which doesn't make sense to me personally, since it's one of the funnier and memorable filler episodes for me. i love mrs. croaker a lot (she's probably my 2nd favourite wartwoodian after maddie) so finding out she's a kickass old lady with a nemesis is hilarious to me! and we also get anne calling her hot and her and polly looking at pictures of hot croaker which just SENDS me

12. characters that you think are underrated?

i actually really like felicia sundew, and grew to like her even more after ivy on the run! not only does she show to be a good mom who does genuinely keep her daughters interests in mind, but damn can she kick ass too <3

Oh. Was that more than ten? Meh. There’s probably like fifteen-hundred more I’ve failed to mention here. Good gods, I can’t think of them all, and shall need to revisit this again some day. Anyhow, thanks for the tag, hazel-san.  

I personally dislike the word favorite in this context. For me, these are characters that have impressed me by their story arc over time, touched me in such a way as to be unforgettable, influenced my nature from childhood up to my current years, or just seriously cause me to become enriched within the story of which they’re a part. To say one is more “favored” than another is a bit oversimple, I reckon. But I’ll shut up, you get it I’m sure.

Clumsy Harry Chronicles pt1

it was a piece of blue fabric. Harry remembered reaching towards the eerily glowing and ever inviting blue fabric.

And nothing. He remembered nothing after that. In fact even right now, he wasn’t fully conscious.

He was placed on a bed and he could hear small murmurs around him. 

I need to wake up, Harry thought, and with that, willed his muscles to move. 

Now, it’s no surprise that Harry, his brain and his body do not agree upon a lot of things. Thus, nothing happened.

Harry pleaded again, and imagined if his brain were a person, it would just roll it eyes. Nevertheless, he did gain consciousness .

His eyes fluttered open, looking for some clarity. But it was all a blur, literally.

He couldn’t see without his glasses. He cursed.

He cursed his broken eyes and he cursed himself.

A wizard, and can’t even fix his own eyes.

If he had said that aloud, he’d probably hear a lot about human anatomy from Hermione. But he didn’t need that for now.

He opened his mouth to speak, but instead, croaked so well, even the toads came out, looking for their Mighty Croaker.

His croak also caught the eye of Mrs. Pomfrey and her companion. She nodded to the blonde haired boy and left.

Harry was given back his glasses, for which he was thankful for. Only to see a semi-worried looking Draco. The other semi was...furious? Maybe? Harry couldn’t figure that out.

“You? What? How?” Harry spilled out in a haste.

‘How long have I been here? And what the hell happened?” he was finally able to ask.

“Its been a few hours after your quidditch practice. I found you in the broom room.” Draco answered.

The broom room? Ah yes! Harry recollected now. That was where he was that mesmerizing blue fabric.

“I was reaching for the blue fabric...then everything is blank.”

Draco’s eyes snapped up, piercing Harry’s eyes with his own.

“Yes, Potter,” He muttered through gritted teeth, “That was a hexed cloth as a prank by Slytherins on Ravenclaw. Did you not see the blue? But you just have to butt in everything, right?

Do you, maybe, ever stop and think, that some things might be dangerous? Might be a trap? Honestly, Harry, it is not that hard to take care of oneself and stay out of these situations”

Draco was still ranting. But Harry had stopped listening after Draco took his name. He was thrilled, but filled with fear as well.

“How did you know where to find me?”

Draco stopped, not hearing it the first time. Harry repeated, and a slight blush covered Draco’s pale cheeks. 

Draco was still before he reluctantly pulled out the Marauder’s Map from his robes. Harry let out a surprised gasp.

“You accidentally left it after Transfiguration” Draco answered before Harry could even ask.

“And you didn’t return it...why?”

Draco’s blush deepened before he collected himself and said, “Well, I wouldn’t have found you now, then, would I? You should be thankful Potter and not be so fucking forgetful and irresponsible.”

“So...you were just checking up on me or...?” Harry asked a bit smug.

“I-well, yeah. No. You know what forget it you’re impossible.” Draco said in irritation and threw the map at Harry, hitting him in the face.

Draco stomped away angrily. This wouldn’t have happened, only if Potter could take care of himself. But can he? No. Absolutely not. Draco would never let Harry get into the mess, only if they were together.

Those were Draco’s thoughts as he moved towards his dorm.

Little did he know, Harry did these things on purpose, just so he could watch Draco care for him. And he would make Draco fall in love with him, no matter how many small injuries he had to take for that.
