What would be each of your muses dream vacation?

under a readmore so i don't flood the dash!

ANGEL - tbh i think she's always secretly wanted to see the world. she was very convinced she would be stuck in america for her entire life and has only recently been able to branch out, first with swynlake and then anywhere that karen has been able to take her. if given the chance i think she'd jump at the opportunity to go somewhere in asia. she'd love to explore the cities, trying out street food, but would also love wolfing out in entirely new biomes!

DARIUS - lame as hell and he'd never admit it to anyone but now that he's reconnected, he'd love to go on a family vacation. growing up, he and his siblings didn't have the means or time for trips, so now that he has that he'd love to gift them with the trip of a lifetime. his own frame of reference is really just the isles, so go to would be the Knee, but his research and teaching has opened him up to other places around the world, particularly south america! he'd love to see magical cultures that aren't his own (and hey he's already dealing with a dictatorship at home, why not abroad!)

LUISA - she just wants to see the shores of her hometown island one more time 🥲 going with her fam would be ideal

BONES - he's been everywhere and done everything. an ideal vacation for him would be a staycation where everyone gets some time off and gets to relax, which it sounds like the hauntley crew is doing this year <3

DEVYN - the weeb answer, they'd love to go to japan. they want to go akihabara and the pokemon center and stationary shops and konbinis and live out their anime fantasies. ofc they'd love to go with their brothers or the magnifiques!

RALPH - ralph doesn't usually get to relax. an ideal vacation for him would be less about the place and more about the atmosphere, getting to just chill out, play video games, nap, and eat good food. ideally alone away from other people, or with a few friends. so putting that together with his preferred climate, id say a cabin or airbnb out in the snow

ATTA - va-cay-tion...? never heard of it. no but fr she'd love to go see other hollows out there in the world. her heart really breaks for milori and his people and she wishes she could have seen it in its heyday. selfishly, she would love to go somewhere with no light pollution so she could see the stars in their entirety and the milky way

BEN - i don't know if ben has ever let his guard down in his life or if he ever would. i think the only place he'd feel comfortable relaxing is deep in the ocean, where he could be in his true form freely and not have to worry about running into anyone else (except those pesky mermaids...)

I am enjoying all of the thoughts. Here's a random scenario for you: Jin Guangyao and Nie Mingjue swap places. They have all of their original experiences up through the end of the Sunshot Campaign, but for whatever reason (mind-wiping? alternate-universe hopping? who knows) they don't waste any time trying to switch back. NMJ just has to Deal with being the newly-legitimized second son of the Jin, JGY just has to Deal with being a sect leader with the whole saber thing hanging over him. Who do you think would be most successful in their new role? Who would have the worst time?

Oooh, there was a poll awhile back posing this question (@qiu-yan was it one of yours?), and everyone responding had such solid reasoning for whatever choices they picked! Because neither of them is enjoying this.

For who is most successful, it's JGY, no contest. JGY doesn't have a background in saber cultivation, but he was born to manage and can handle logistics like a champ. In novel canon, he has field experience with the Nie that he can combine with day-to-day experience sect with the Jin; n CQL canon, he already has experience overseeing day-to-day sect business in the Unclean Realm itself. Easy! He'll just delegate all the saber stuff to someone more qualified! Meanwhile, NMJ does not have the skills set that JGY deploys in Jinlintai at allllllll. He doesn't have experience in negotiating with a superior (let alone a superior who doesn't respect him), he doesn't prioritize fine details, and he cannot (WILL not!) fawn. While JGY was learning customer service, NMJ studied the blade! He is AT BEST going to be too blunt and at worst going to throw hands.

For who is having the worst time, neither of them is doing great! From a physical standpoint, they'd both have a moment of "damn, you live like this?" as NMJ boggles at how long JGY's body takes to heal and JGY wonders how he hell NMJ built up so much resentment in his body. (A popular NMJ headcanon is that Baxia is a semi-sentient entity screaming at him 24/7 to fuel his bloodlust, and I do enjoy that, but it's also not actually in the text anywhere, so I am leaving that out. Ditto for JGY having lingering pain from injuries sustained in his fall.)

From a mental standpoint, if JGY is aware that NMJ is puttering around in his body, he is LOSING IT. It's his own personal "horse loose in a hospital" scenario. Not only might NMJ ruin all of JGY's standing within Jinlintai by being less-than-deferential, there are also THE SECRET CRIMES to consider. If this switch happens after JGY is entrenched as his father's fixer, NMJ could stumble upon the Jinlintai Murder Basement! He could reveal all of JGY's crimes! And even if he didn't, if JGS or whoever else deemed NMJ-in-JGY's body a nuisance, they might straight-up kill him rather than just dismissing him because JGY knows too much. After all, everyone saw what he did to his last two bosses! If QS and JRS exist, what about their safety? What about his legacy? What about his mother's wish? Any merit he achieves as NMJ will be credited to NMJ, not to him, and he would haaaaate thattttt.

Now, NMJ is also having a bad time, because not being accustomed to the kind of treatment JGY receives has made him ill-equipped to process it. Witnessing and being the recipient of so much injustice but not being able to do anything about it would be profoundly upsetting for him. He'd be even more upset if he found out about the crimes. His options for seeking justice are very limited! He could stab JGS and XY and then die himself, but even if he was successful, JGY's spirit would live on in NMJ's body to do who-knows-what. If QS and JRS exist, extended exposure to one or both of them could make him feel conflicted about all of the above, which would make him even MORE frustrated with the situation.

(Neither of them is bringing LXC into this.)

(Additional components of this scenario to consider: NMJ in JGY's body having to hang out with XY, and XY thinking his attempts to kill him are just fun enrichment. NHS figuring out something's up and (after assuring himself of NMJ's safety) using this as an opportunity to request soooo many budget items, pleeeeease san-ge? pleeease? SMS figuring out something's up because Lianfang-zun Would Not Fucking Say That and personally taking the initiative to get them to switch back. QS figuring out something's up because A-Yao Would Not Fucking Say That and also the specific way in which he is now refusing to sleep with her feels different.)

Can you talk more about Chase having ADHD?

OH MAN I CAN AND I WILL

granted i was half-serious when i made that post AND bear in mind that i've only seen a little over a couple seasons so far. everything i will say here can certainly be disputed and attributed to other factors.

however.

i do believe that an argument for this reading can be made.

now what made me say that in the first place: chase is always fidgeting. constantly.

he's twitching, spinning his pen, tapping his leg, doing silly little things like this:

during work meetings.

and to be honest. that's enough for me. i claim this man for adhd and you cannot stop me.

but thinking about it, this is not the only thing. so, here's some more evidence to back up my claim:

you ever notice how chase is the first to go along with house's insanity? how he doesn't really seem to mind? people with adhd thrive in chaotic environments.

chase is often referred to as stupid when contrasted with his fellows. but is he really? he is meek at first, doesn't seem to have much to contribute if anything at all. when he does have ideas, though, they are often impulsive, wild and outlandish (and does that remind you of anybody?), which makes me think that his unwillingness to speak might be learned. "my ideas will be frowned upon and punished, so maybe instead of voicing them, it's better to stay quiet and play stupid" is something many people with adhd are forced to internalized.

Part II of my musings about my scogan kid fic idea (read part I here)

It’s very delicate. And Logan doesn’t deal with delicate. He can deal with force and dangerous and what-doesn’t-kill-you-makes-you-stronger. A four-year-old girl calling him “dad” is nowhere near any of these things.

And Summers must know how much of a deal this is because he’s quiet the whole time they walk to his office to talk, for which Logan didn’t ask but Scott offered anyway, without the typical stoic composure Logan was used to seeing on him.

Then they get there and neither of them can really sit down or start because where do you start after seeing something like this? After apparently living in a universe where time-travel is possible and it happens to be your damn luck that you have to live with its consequences?

And Logan realises that Scott could ask first. He wasn’t there when Logan talked about his timeline with Charles and as far as the little girl goes, calling Scott “papa” is on the same spot of “urgent” as calling Logan “dad” is.

But Summers speaks in the end and, surprising no one, he decides to be unselfish and asks Logan what he wants to know. Logan gives him a look that must speak for itself because Summers clenches his jaw but still waits and Logan hates him but not really and so he asks, “The girl. Who is she?”

And Scott says that her name is Kayla (because I happen to be a big fan of Wolverine: Origins and I always have been ever since I saw it when I was, like, thirteen, and despite all the sad stuff about Kayla, I loved the message of her words to Logan that he’s not an animal and I think it would be nice to have that message survive in a little girl who at some point learned to love him enough to call him dad because if that doesn’t say he’s not an animal, then I don’t know). It might warrant a reaction from Logan right away. He might know what the name means, the Logan of this timeline probably didn’t (but it’s possible he doesn’t know either).

So he asks who gave her that name, to which Scott replies that he chose it and Logan asks why they would let him and Scott says because he was the one who found her. There is something Summers isn’t saying, though, and although Logan can tell, he lets it go this time.

Found her? he asks next and Scott says I assume you’re familiar with the name “Stryker”, to which Logan lets out one of his claws, the middle one, akin to all those years ago on the Liberty Island and he doesn’t know what he expects, but the soft smile that graces Scott’s face before it is squashed down by the cold calculated look was definitely not it.

Then Scott reaches under his desk and unlocks one of his drawers and pulls out a thick file with the huge red stemp of “classified” written over it and he pushes it closer to Logan. It says “Weapon XII” on the front and Logan bristles and almost lets out all of his claws.

He doesn’t reach for the file and Scott probably didn’t even expect him to because he goes on, unprompted, and says that the project was meant to be a continuation of the previous one, of designing a mutant who would be able to hold and control multiple abilities at the same time. The previous project made them aware they could change one mutant. Now, they wanted to know whether they could fully create one and raise them to be their perfect soldier.

For that, they needed a suitable collection of DNA from mutants they knew existed because it turned out that not every ability was compatible with the rest of them.

When Logan asks how they found out, Summers says it’s in the file and then clenches his jaw when Logan just says he’s not reading it. Then Scott says there were multiple test subjects that were biologically engineered in different ways so they knew where to push their limits. At the time, Kayla was being referred to as “12.9” and she was the only one they found at the facility. The rest were defined in the file as “failed” and “closed” and Logan really feels slashing through something right now.

Scott says she was merely six-months old when she was found by them. They didn’t know who she was but the following days were a bit self-explanatory when she teleported a meter away right in front of their eyes and shot red beams from her eyes at a toy she didn’t particularly like.

Her powers were meant to manifest early so Stryker’s people knew if she could harness all the powers they engineered her with without dying. It was a long process of deciding which ones she had to have and which ones she didn’t. All of the children had Logan’s, though, and as much as there indeed is no adamantium in her body, it was the plan to put it into her once she grew up. Putting it into her now would prevent her from her natural development and result in her death. Logan says, “Don’t tell me they found that out the hard way,” to which Scott replies, “What do you think?”

So, what, is she a clone? Logan asks after Scott explains the rest and Scott says, Yes, in a sense.

What do you mean? She either is or she ain’t!

Clones are usually of “something” and are meant to resemble that something to perfection. She has so much of other people in herself that no one would be able to pin point what she is a clone of.

As much as it clears up a few things about her to Logan, there is a lot Scott doesn’t mention that day or the ones that follow. He doesn’t say that it was actually the two of them together who found her and not just Logan. He doesn’t reveal that her first days here were a pretty accurate depictions of hell and that Logan’s healing factor came especially in handy and she also sort of seemed to cry a lot less when she was in Scott’s arms compared to everyone else’s. And he doesn’t say anything about the fact that, yes, as much as her DNA is comprised of DNA of other mutants, the percentages vary and there are two sets of DNA she has more of than from others and there is a reason why her eyes are so blue and why she purposefully has weaker versions of all her mutant abilities aside from her healing factor and heightened senses.

What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for?

(／。＼)...am I going to embarrass myself on main today because the first fic that I published on ao3 was for the ReoNagi pairing from Blue Lock, but I technically wrote fic for Inazuma Eleven when I was a wee little child. What was yours?

If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be?

Definitely angst, it comes easier to me than fluff or smut 〜(＞＜)〜

If you were stuck on an island with only two characters, who would you pick?

Only two? That's a hard choice >_< Shi Qingxuan (TGCF) and Yu Shisan (A Journey to Love), probably. SQX can just whisk us away~

What is your most underrated fic?

I'll take underrated to mean not doing as well as I thought it would since I really liked this? It's a toss up between one of my Link Click fics (Qiao Ling centric, S2 canon compliant) and one of my earlier Mysterious Lotus Casebook fics (Gen, LXY/LLH centric). I really enjoyed the process of exploring what went on in Season 2 of Link Click through Qiao Ling's eyes, and thought that there weren't enough fics featuring her, which is why it's a fic that's really dear to me. As for the Li Xiangyi centric fic (i must admit that imagining pre-canon stuff is a favourite of mine), I wanted to explore the process of Li Xiangyi becoming Li Lianhua, and how he had changed so much over ten years. It was fun to imagine him traversing the jianghu and picking up various skills along the way! But I do understand that Genfics aren't for everyone, so it's okay. I do have more recent ones that aren't doing that well but I have...complicated feelings regarding those

What fic are you most proud of?

(I also cannot simply choose one, my bad).

I have this ShiGuang fic that was loosely inspired by a manhwa called "The tale of the Yellow dragon", that was nearly complete by the time the S2 finale came out and I figured, why not throw Lu Guang's lines in there? and it fit, so I was really happy with how it turned out :D Another fic that I'm proud of is Tales of Tianji Manor, mainly because I wasn't sure that people would enjoy a fic told from Madam He's pov, but the fandom was so nice about it ^^ and it was fun to explore the OT3 dynamics from her pov!! and (last one, I promise!!) I was really happy with how the ZhanHua fic turned out :D Zhan Yunfei was one of my favourite side characters, and explore his ten years of yearning and devotion was interesting.

Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?

I'd say the hardest is Di Feisheng's (MLC) pov for me, I'm not sure if it's writers block or burnout, but trying to wrangle his character has been a challenge lately. Another would be Ning Yuanzhou (A Journey to Love), because the man thinks so damn much, and he has to be a leader, a lover, a father and a brother all at the same time. Oh and Yi Zhi Hua's (White Cat Legend) tone is quite tricky for me to grasp...

easiest would probably be what I call the "simp characters" (not that I'm calling them one-dimensional, it's just that they have Prioritised that One Special Person): Fang Duobing for one, he has a rather straightforward personality, he places his family and Li Lianhua first, and he's honest about his feelings. Qiu Qingzhi is another. (it's harder to see beneath his layers but) imo his motivations were mainly to protect Li Bing. and I just really like to write Yu Shisan, the man loves so deeply and freely.

SHAKING U GENTLY HIII HELLO HII - Your ocs (protags and maybe some side ocs) in a nerfgun war, who is winning and also who is out first given the laws of the game? - Does Max have bio parents that are present in the story?? if you're allowed to talk about that bc i've always been curious and i'm not sure if i've asked before - Blackberry random fact go!! what is her deal she seems hella interesting if you're allowed to say - i'm guessing Bullet is a shoe hater but also i need confirmation. does he ever step on those evil little burrs out in the grass. 2nd to this i dont think i've ever seen him in something that isnt shorts is he one of those guys thats like yeah shorts and crocs combo in the middle of winter - This isn't a question i just need to say that Amy is rlly pretty, girl has fantastic eyeliner - i need to know Grey's taste in music/fav songs if they exist,,, plea,,,, - Can Blue bap things with her ears and also how strong r her ears like is it similar to when dogs smack u with their tails on accident and ur like wofgh wtf this could break my bones or is she just rlly fluffy pspsps

1- HMMMM, that is tricky, cause like Blue would either win or be first out depending on her energy and if she wants to do it KJD;SGJKA otherwise, I think Grey and Bullet may be first out- Grey is a bit too nice and Bullet is clumsy DAKJG then it would prob be Max and the rest of the Boys, Max is too cocky, Logan is also a bit clumsy and a lil too safe, and Tyler, Tyler is just participating he'll be dramatic as hell once he's shot LKAJS;FGAJ who would probably win in that case has to be Amy, she's the most chaotic and energetic one here (she would 100% climb trees or hide on/behind rocks and ambush people) but thats only if Blue doesn't have the energy, if she does, everyones doomed DASJG

2- Max does indeed have bio parents! As of right now, I currently have no plans for them to show up? That could change however, but he was abandoned by them and thats why he lived on the streets for a bit. Thats also why Max steals a lot and stashes things in random places cause thats what he had to do live. Sometimes tho, being a child, he would steal stuff that caught his eye too; got him caught eventually. But yeayea, his parents abandoned him! So idk if they'd come back, I'd have to ponder on that

3- I'll give you two facts! Her and Lavender are step-sisters! Lavender's dad and Blackberry's mom got together, Blackberry wasn't too fond of Lavender at first? Cause she didn't want a new dad, meanwhile on Lavender's side everything was awkward cause I have it planned rn that Lavender's mom died during childbirth, so Lavender never really knew her mom or had a mom, so having one then was just super awkward! But yeayea Plum is their half-sister! :D Another lil fact more about her deal, is that, she's one of the ones that would tell the Bitch things about Blue, she didn't know what that Bitch was doing so it wasn't entirely intentional? But it still was harmful and not from a great place, so she made Blue's situation worse regardless

4- Oh he's definitely stepped on a couple of burrs before KASDGJ he does the biggest YOWCH and jumps up from them for sure ASDGKJL I think the most Bullet would ever wear is sandals, but he wouldn't wear SHOE shoes for sure, he's used to being barefoot, he might actually wear crocs tho those definitely got his vibes LKAJSDG; but yea he does not like burrs OH YEA YEA the longest pair of pants he has doesn't even reach his ankles I don't think he likes wearing long pants, he'll have to do it in winter though cause he doesn't handle the cold that well, so he'll tolerate it then but the moment, the MOMENT, it gets warmer it is back to shorts LKAJSDG

What's a trait in others that your character can't stand? Is that because it's something they don't like in general, or do you think it's more a reflection of how they seem themselves/the world?

Yuzu is bold, hot-headed, and always ready to throw herself into the thick of things. She seems like the type who would despise cowards, right? Well, not really. If someone doesn't think they can handle a fight and would prefer to run? Fine. Call that a tactical retreat.

It's indecisiveness that really steams her. Those who can never seem to arrive at a decision, ANY decision. Someone who can't commit to any course of action for any length of time. Perpetual fence-sitters. Whether you decide to fight or decide to run, that's up to you — just make the godsdamned choice.

Ask any merchant of Ul'dah, and they'll tell you how much they love selfless customers. Anyone so eager and willing to part with their gil — especially, supposedly, for a good cause? That must be a gift from the Traders themselves. On the surface, Esca would agree. As she has ambitions that go beyond increasing profits, easily-manipulated individuals are invaluable assets.

At her core, however, Esca cannot stand selflessness. Where's your pride? Your backbone? Your self-preservation? It's disgraceful, if not downright dangerous.

And besides, she's watched too many loved ones set themselves on fire to keep others warm. Seen too many who are willing to throw themselves onto the pyre in service to some greater purpose, caring not one whit about those they leave behind. If she cares for you (or at least has a plan for you), you're going to live whether you like it or not.

When it comes to Armaia's line of work, indifference is equal to malice.

Mammet creation is a delicate endeavor. To her, they're more than just tools or machines: they're unique creations designed to enrich the lives of others. She believes that, just like humans, mammets are capable of both great and terrible things — it all depends on the will of their creators. A careless mammet engineer could lead to a malfunctioning machine, which in turn could lead to any number of unfortunate (or even lethal) accidents.

Prior to dropping out of the Studium, Armaia's worst fear came to pass: one of her mammet prototypes malfunctioned and injured some of her fellow students. She attributed this failure to a number of things: carelessness, her own ineptitude, and an overall failure to live up to the standards expected in her department. Since then, she's developed a zealous passion for her craft, often consumed by her work. Anything less than utter devotion is unacceptable.

Mirou is a pretty simple man: he loves to observe people, to study them and all their quirks and contradictions. He can be tolerant of —or even amused by — some traits that others might consider annoying or insufferable. There is one trait that he cannot stand, though, and that is pushiness. He will dig in his heels and avoid doing anything that's asked of him — even if it's in his best interest.

This is not because he delights in being contrarian. Mirou was raised in a rigid, structured environment with little allowance for deviation. Those that bent would be the ones to break. Ever since he broke away from that place, Mirou's independence will always be his first priority, sometimes to his own detriment.

19. Has your OC ever had an experience with the paranormal or the divine? What happened? Was it a one time encounter or is it a normal part of their life? Did they find it terrifying or thrilling? hmm... currently still working out that storyline at a glacial pace so ask me again in a year and I'm sure the recovery of the staff of magnus will have added some interesting new experience here. but regardless, there was the discovery of the eye of magnus (she doesn't know who that is) and curiosity about What Its Deal Is drives most of the actions that immediately follow it. around the same time she beat a draugr to re-death (didn't like that) and sissel saw a ghost (later found out it was a projection of some kind of wizard from a wizard island they'd barely heard of) so there was A Lot going on at once. for the most part she finds these sorts of things very interesting! hitting a really old dead guy a lot of times while it tried to kill her was. less interesting. she's not sure why it's so hard to stop thinking about it when it wasn't even cool. but! for the most part! she's having a grand old time with the Magical Occurrences

20. Has your OC ever done something terrible and lied about it? Did they run away or blame someone else for it? How long did they maintain the lie and did the truth ever come out? efri is generally a pretty truthful person, and she's upfront about her feelings (except for the ones she buries so deep she's no longer aware of them) so whenever she feels like she has done or said something actually wrong and hurtful she'll do her best to make amends as soon as she can. lying about it would make her feel more guilty and anyone else more confused and sad, so there'd be no point. she's also 10 years old so hasn't really had the wherewithal to do terrible cruel things to people yet (except, maybe, how she ran away from home in the immediate aftermath of a dramatic crisis and kind of let her parents assume she died. she discusses this with onmund and, in retrospect, she should have tried to send them a letter clarifying that a lot sooner. oops)

He’s not starting on pole, and you can tell that makes him nervous. You help him into his underwear, first the leggings and then the skin-tight shirt, and where the way it makes the end of his braid frizz momentarily would normally elicit a pinched frown, now he scowls.

“Colum, we should have used a different product today. This feels like an ill omen.”

It’s a little ridiculous, because you always use the same product and he gets P1 or P2 or P6 or P9 regardless of how his hair has been styled. But you know it was hard for him despite what he might claim, to make this last final jump to the pinnacle of the sport he’s performed in and you’ve supported him in since he started karting at four. He’s nearly twenty now, and though you run short on excuses for his behavior sometimes—he’s not a moody teenager anymore, categorically not—you still love him dearly.

“Everything will go as it will,” you respond, because you are fairly sure that at least, will not cause a fight. “As God wills it, Silas.”

“It will,” he says, but mostly as a reflex. It was not a comfort to him, it seems.

He is closed off from you as you help him into his suit, other than a few snippy directions here and there. This is almost worse than the chill sterile confidence he had as a teenager, thoroughly convinced that it would be his destiny to be an unparalleled driver. You don’t at all prefer it to his childhood, where he would run (somehow, he’d been dignified for a child) to you after each practice session or race asking if you’d seen him go, and you would hug him and tell him he’d been very fast. But regardless of your preferences, which you barely let yourself have because they’re not helpful, he is here in front of you now and as always, he has need of you.

You zip his suit up for him slowly, meeting his big brown eyes the same as yours, and you can see his lip turn. You know most of his lip turns, and this one means that he’s hard-pressed to find anything good to say. Then, a second one on the heels of the first, signaling that he’s given up on saying anything at all because of it.

You’re glad, honestly. You don’t feel like tiptoeing around his stress-and-personality-induced insults because fighting back would throw him off his game, today.

You help him put his gloves on, and it’s only now that he’s mostly put together that he relaxes marginally. You sigh through your nose, so that it is not obvious that it is a sigh.

You know that as much as you want to protect him and care for him as you did when he was a kid, the second he takes those last few steps… once he’s in the car, he’s on his own. Not quite—he has his team, of which you are a part, but if something were to happen to him… you would have nothing to do about it but you would never forgive yourself, regardless.

And you know that he is stressed today, and now you are stressed today too, so you kiss him twice this time: once on the forehead and once in your usual place, just above his left ear. The skin is soft there, where the first wisps of his platinum blond hair rest.

“Don’t patronize me.”

“I’m not,” you murmur, pushing back in the most mild of ways. “It’s a blessing, nothing more.”

You want so badly for him to win today. You’ll be praying for the entire duration of the race, because you need him to win. You need him to stay safe firstly, but you need him to win, too.

He only allows himself to have you when he does.

“Let’s go, Colum.”
