1. Rick Shades

UGHHHHHHHHH. LOVE this man 💖💖 A pathetic and pitiful wizard dude with one of the coolest epithets! My favourite bit of him is that he’s introduced as some creepy weirdo who sounds like he’d backstab you BUT turns out to be a really fcked up guy with no social skills and genuinely really does want friends. I LOVE it when stories twist expectations for a character and Epithet Erased just keeps doing it a lot.

While Rick is mostly silly and used as comedy relief through POP really, his tragic backstory adds in so much depth and the narration treats the horrors he went through with respect. Chapter 8 has repeatedly dug my grave each time I listen to it. I’m going insane with any Rick/Toidei thoughts. There’s so much I could say about how his traumatic childhood affected him so much and how it shows through his mannerisms and behaviour that we’d be here all day. (Oh wait- I’ve already indulged into his character in like 4 posts.)

Anyways, in general, I would offer my soul to the scary magic man and treat him to a nice day at the beach.

2. Dr. Sylvester Ashling

Sylvie was the reason I got into Epithet Erased in the first place 😂. My favourite thing about him is his DESIGN and POWERS. The swirls and cloud/sheep motif looks sick and his epithet showcase in the museum arc is beyond awesome. Like omfg, it’s just so genuinely amazing to look at.

He seems fun to bully, especially with that pretentious grown-up attitude he puts up. But underneath that, Sylvie’s character is just depressing to the point where it’s intriguing for me. The choice they made to quickly grow up and skip childhood? I wonder what made them decide to do that. Despite what he says, Sylvie really just wants someone to talk to and he really does care for people. He’s just scared to loosen up and become vulnerable in front of anyone.

Sylvie wanting friends but having trust issues and not knowing how to make some? Honestly, what a mood-

I got too insanely happy hearing his short little cameo in POP, even though they weren’t around for too long. He was in there waiting and looking for his only friend awwwwww.

3. Molly Blyndeff

Molly my CHILD 🥺🥺!! Her bear motif is adorable and her character arc within the museum is so wholesome and satisfying to watch. Reading POP just cemented her as my top 3rd fav because her inner dialogue and way of thinking hit way too close to home for me. I was so close to tears many times throughout and I just LOVE her.

Molly just overall learning to stand up for herself and making it very clear she’s no longer taking any sh*t? She’s the character I wished my younger self got to know earlier because it’s what she would’ve needed at the time.

4. Giovanni Potage

Is it much of a surprise he’s in my top 5? Why wouldn’t I like this total sweetheart who would lift the earth for his minions? I adore how he has like one of the lamest-sounding epithets but his insane level of creativity makes up for it completely. I also really found his unique view on bad guys really interesting. The stark contrast between being evil but also absolutely wholesome makes for a great character I love seeing interact with everyone!

Hoping he gets some sort of character arc though. So far, he’s still the same Gio we know from the beginning and it would be very interesting to see him go through a struggle or make tough decisions.

5. Ramsey Murdoch

Haha funny ratman. As I’ve mentioned before, my expectations for him were twisted and I LOVED it. My fav character in the Redwood Run Arc because poor dude isn’t allowed to catch a break. Even outside the show within the streams, he gets absolutely bullied by the plot. This is entirely what he gets for being 1 of 2 people (the other is Molly) that have the braincell to question the bizarreness of….well, everything.

Ramsey is an impressively intelligent character who just has the hilarious misfortune of having things almost never go his way. He’s entirely the reason he and Percy manage to survive Zora and he STILL gets screwed over by getting arrested. Anyways, yes. I love his dynamic with Percy being a subversion of the typical buddy cop trope. Looking forward to having more of him in the next book: Sweet Escape :33

If you haven’t noticed already, this ask led me to go through multiple trials of tests to see which brushes and colouring process I prefer digitally.

Rick’s was my first attempt and it’s just… terribly basic really. I wasn’t used to Procreate at that point 😅.

Sylvie’s was next and after watching basic tutorial videos, I turn to really like the colouring style I did for them. Wasn’t fond of the rough outline though.

Gio’s was the exact opposite of what I’ve done with Sylvie. While I liked how it popped out in a comic-style kind of way, I wasn’t a fan of the solid shading.

For Ramsey’s, I was a lot closer to finding out my preferences. I pretty much just combined what I liked from Sylvie and Gio’s drawings. Softer shading and a smoother, thicker outline.

Molly’s was my last attempt and one I’m heavily satisfied with! :D It’s the same as Ramsey’s, but I added a lot more detail to the eyes, coloured in some outlines and even added an overlay!

The whole trial and error process was so much fun and very much worth it too! X3 💖💖

Yes! I’m writing a fanfic set about 15 years after canon, the first chapter is posted on ao3! <- (link) I’ll be updating it till I either finish it or lose motivation…. Hopefully the former rather than the latter. I’ve already got big plans for it, though…

even though jas has favorite uncles, najma is the favorite favorite. i imagine she's just the cool aunt

jas LOVES doing people's hair including her own; would rather do them by hand rather than by magic

jamil showed jas how to breakdance once and it became ingrained in her personality ever since

Yknow what I'm gonna use these tags as an excuse to talk about the two lords in black I'm 100% confident in the designs of (I'm also fine with Wiggly but he's already got his own post he doesn't need to be here lmao)

So without further ado, here goes this maybe long-ish post about the eldritch horrors that aren't afraid to say fuck

I leaned pretty heavily into the "tinkerer" aspect of T'noy Karaxis by making him equal parts mechanical and non-mechanical. A lot of my inspiration here comes from figures like Krampus and Baphomet with a sprinkle of sci-fi steampunk-ish flair. He's also not as much of a looming presence since he's more focused on one person at a time and making his own fun rather than the wider world at large so doesn't need to stand as overwhelmingly tall.

Unlike Pokotho who is meant to seem vast and cold. The reaper-like apperance comes from his reputation of being the most unforgiving of the lords as well as his ruthless and uncompromising nature. He is THE singular voice after all, he doesn't need any extra bells and whistles. He's also inspired by various theater costumes, stuff like Phantom of the Opera, and what's inside the cloak is intentionally vague cause, in his own words, "Our true forms would melt your mind."

X'm pretty sure Simon is the one who X draw the most, the silly yellow alien is iconic :] although X'm more inclined to draw his horror design more than anything cause X love it so much lol. As for writing, it may not seem like so but X actually put some thought into how Simon acts in general. Just this grown ass man who will never seem to grow up because friendship and fun's all he has. He's kinda like mx ngl...

Black is absolutely a classic for mx cause he's supposedly the main character of pre-corruption arc SM, and hehe funny grumpy shadow shapeshifter <33 a little fact about him- he curses a lot cause everyone around him is too kiddie and happy and it drives him NUTS so to balance it out he swears like a sailor. X also am eager to reveal his lore soon but ya'll have to WAIT for it unfortunately cause it takes a long time to get there. Keep in mind the fact that he was a father. That'll return soon. But don't force it

Brud is someone who X felt needed some nuance so X gave him nuance. It's not explicit as of now and X won't go into details here but if you look closely you can see hints of what he's really like. X already had an idea for his backstory and X plan on doing an arc with him but X need to figure out what it entails

Ciqu's whole lore...it's something X really enjoyed coming up with. And by enjoyed X mean X kinda cried and tweaked about it banging mx head on the wall lol (/silly) some of mx most fleshed out OCs have existential shit involved in their arcs and X fw that so hard. Not to mention his Pinocchio complex. X love him (/p)

Saves' whole arc is something X'm REALLY hyped about and X enjoy seeing ya'll speculate his fate as well as the nature of "The Entity" (ya'll even gave it a name which is cute! it has a canon name but x'm not spoiling) trust mx guys when X say that X'm cooking with Saves rn. If the story doesn't hit ya'll like a truck then please slap mx on the wrist (/silly)

Was the design and stuff for Wheeljack based on the IDW comic sparkeaters? Because I've been thinking abt this for ages and it seems so-

So I have never read IDW and the only information I have about it is what I’ve absorbed from my TF mutuals. I knew sparkeaters were some kind of monster BUT I NEVER KNEW WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE?? WHAT?

First of all that’s really creepy looking and secondly THEY LOOK ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE HOW I IMAGINE EX!WHEELJACK DOES. DOWN TO THE KNIFE TENTACLES AND EVERYTHING. HOW?? I’VE NEVER SEEN THESE THINGS IN MY LIFE I’VE ONLY VAGUELY HEARD OF THEM

So to properly answer your question, no, Ex!Wheeljack’s design is not based on sparkeaters, it’s just a really weird coincidence (and frankly I kinda wish I had because these things look cool lmao). His design was actually based off the first plotline I had for Horror Show before I scrapped it. Shockwave was originally going to try to create synthetic energon but since he has even less information than Ratchet does in canon, it doesn’t go well. Naturally he decides to go big or go home, mixes it with Dark Energon, and injects it into Wheeljack. But that felt too much like copying canon and a virus seemed more like Shockwave’s style anyway so I changed it. You can still kinda see the original plot in his design because I just started by basing it off of the Terrorcons from Thirst and then I went “what if he had stabby tentacles too wouldn’t that be fucked up”

And YEAH. I think it was the Art of Prime that mentioned Soundwave was deliberately designed to seem alien even when compared to the other Cybertronians? I’m not sure when sparkeaters were introduced/if Prime was out by then but Soundwave’s design, especially when compared side by side with sparkeaters, is certainly a CHOICE. Like, you can’t think of any better way to discredit my post about how I wish people would just let a character be Not Racist and acknowledge that sometimes people can learn they were wrong and become better people so you call me (a queer woman of color who is college-educated and an immigrant, btw, just so we’re all on the same page) a “right winger” for using easily-recognizable terminology to ensure everyone reading understands what I think is the core issue. Incredible, insane, I wish you weren’t a coward who posted anonymously so I could scroll through your blog because I’m sure you’ve got jokes.

But anyways, since we’re all here I’ll take the opportunity to explain what I mean and my thoughts on cancel culture.

People on the internet are obsessed with this idea of perfection. They think that a person has to do the right thing, always, every time. They think that a person who does or has ever done something shitty is just a shitty person who doesn’t deserve a platform. And they think that a person who was a shitty person in the past should always be viewed in that way. They can never accept that someone could have toxic or harmful views, realize they were wrong, and then become a better person, especially if they went through that journey offline or a long time ago. They don’t care if the person they see before them is clearly an open-minded, good person who doesn’t possess those views anymore. In their eyes, that person is still that same bigoted asshole from three, five, ten, twenty years ago and they have to acknowledge that past and be publicly shamed for it every single day in order to be “forgiven”. (They will never truly forgive)

And it’s just. I don’t understand it because what is the point of activism and education if we’re not going to allow people to learn what we’re trying to teach? How is our movement supposed to grow if we don’t accept the people who have been touched and reformed by it? How does any of this get better if we don’t allow people to be better?

Here’s my biggest problem with “cancel culture” (the mass ostracism and shaming of someone who has behaved or spoken in a socially unacceptable way). I think that this kind of mindset has led to an entire generation of internet users who are terrified of ever doing “the wrong thing” on the internet. We’re so afraid of making mistakes because we know how hard it is to come back from that and how unforgivable the rest of the internet is. And it’s turned us into overly defensive people who struggle to admit when we’ve done something wrong. We’re terrified to consider the possibility that we’re the "bad guy" in any situation because we've convinced ourselves that doing something shitty makes you a shitty person. We think our individual actions are lifetime sentences. I've seen so many people on the internet make small mistakes but double down and take things way too far when they're called out for it because they don't want to see themselves as a person who does problematic things. Because we've convinced ourselves that making a mistake makes you a bad person on a fundamental level. We've tied the amount of criticism we receive to our self-worth.

I also notice that it prevents people who actually need to learn and be better from realizing that. Because the amount of hate someone receives is so disproportionate to any mistake they actually made, it's so easy for a person to think "okay there's no way I deserve to be harassed this much, this is probably just the internet overreacting again, I haven't done anything wrong" and instead of learning the small lesson they needed to learn they just brush off the hate and dismiss it as cancel culture.

And so to bring this back to 9-1-1, I do think that some of the hate towards Tommy is due to shipping wars, but on a deeper level I think people just can't handle the truth that Tommy is actually a good person now. Maybe it stems from people hating the idea that someone who made their own lives miserable could learn and grow and become a better person later in life like Tommy did. Maybe people have some unresolved trauma about bigots that they're projecting onto these characters. Maybe they want to feel morally superior and just don't like the idea that someone who was shitty in the past could go on to have the same views and ideals as them. It's hard to tell for sure and it probably varies from person to person but I think the idea that a person has to be defined by their past is a big part of it on all levels.

Anyways, those are my thoughts on cancel culture as a whole and why I think the current generation of internet users has a really tough time taking accountability and why we all have rejection sensitivity (not RSD, the actual real medical condition, just a general sensitivity to being told you're in the wrong). We don't like to confront our own flaws because, according to the internet, those flaws make you a terrible person always and forever and you will never be able to overcome them or move past them. I hope this all makes sense I've been thinking about this a lot since 2020 but I've never tried to explain it in words. I don't think there's anything wrong with holding people accountable for past actions, I think there's something wrong with the disproportionate hate those people receive and the amount of shaming and shunning they have to go through before they're allowed to move on with their lives.

Pet cafe au questions please!

With the AU world including the whole CQM Peak as mythology... would there be in au pitential for any of the pet formed peeps to gain a humanoid appearance? Or even just like a human-speech capacity?

Does Mingfan or Yingying appear in the au?

What are pet YQY and SJ like? SY ever catch them being particularly cute together?

Finally (for this ask anyways), what does a "usual" day look like for both SY and SQH?

woah this is a big ask (not that i mind i love these it gets my brain going)

First of all, I have been rotating the idea of giving them human forms like having them be able to be humans during the night but they're animals by day (there are many scenarios I can think of using this premise so tell me what y'all think)

im thinking that they also have some sort of animal to animal communication or like animal only telepathy among them

As for Ming fan and Ning Yingying, yes they do appear! They're humans

this girl is yingying (i haven't drawn Ming Fan yet lol)

Yqy and Sj do get along somewhat (although to SY and SQH it looks an awful like SJ is trying to bullying YQY due to all the swatting and hissing at him but they chalk it up to a capybara's unbothered nature at being so chill about it) and they do cuddle sometimes when they're napping (depends on how SJ's feeling tbh) (there are multiple photos of it much to SJ's dismay and YQY's delight)

and for the final question,

they work during the weekends and 3 days of the week (Monday, Wensday and Friday) (both have agreed to have 2 days off per week to rest cus they ain't about that 996 work life) (they also have side gigs on their days off incase they need extra funds to keep the cafe running)

SY and SQH wake up at 7-8 in the morning and one of them goes downstairs to set up everything while the other does their morning routine, then they swap once the one person is finished (they switch it up everyday)

they open at 10am and basically two man the operation with one being the cashier and one being the bartender as the animals roam free to allow customers to pet them (sometimes during rush hour they do both jobs but it depends on how busy it is but idk i've never worked at a cafe before)

they close around 6-7pm and the rest of the evening is taking care of the animals and cleaning up the cafe and putting everything away. They will also do their paper work and file everything during this time. Then at 10-11 pm they sleep.

On their days off, they just play with the animals and do random shit until the next day where it all repeats.
