Joe looked to the side in thought, and Patrick was suddenly reminded of just how handsome he was. He’d always been more or less aware of it, but seeing Joe like this, right in front of him looking all, like, masculine and dignified, and with those bright blue eyes, it made something in Patrick’s chest buzz at a weird frequency. He felt himself start to sweat more, distracting him from what Joe was saying. “—‘bout we both go right? That should work.”

“Yeah, okay,” Patrick agreed without really thinking.

Cause he was still trying to wrap his head around realizing that he was about to kiss his very attractive friend and reckoning with how that made him feel when Joe started leaning in to make that happen, now. With a small jump, Patrick got with the program, just in time to tilt his head to the right and meet Joe’s lips with his own.

Then they were kissing. Lips pressed together, Patrick holding his breath and closing his eyes to not look at Joe’s face so close up. It felt weird? But good. It was pressure in the shape of Joe’s lips, a little damp but mostly dry, and still. Neither of them really moved, just stayed like that. Kissing. Patrick felt Joe’s warm, soft breath dust over his upper lip.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and they pulled apart. Joe looked like he was feeling the same as Patrick; a little confused but mostly into it, and… happy. Yeah, Patrick was happy. 

He cracked a smile. “Huh.”
