okay, in the spirit of getting back to writing, how about a mini fic with Vince and Jonah driving somewhere and Jonah’s stomach is upset and they have to pull over so he can puke? And Vince is just really, really “Vince” and being all “take your time” and “I’m here for you”and Jonah’s all impatient and just wants to puke and get it over with so he can go be with Leo. Your choice as to who is driving because I can see advantages to both. Thank you and so glad you’re back!

"Should I pull over?"

"Shut up."

Vince snorted, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel and whistling under his breath. He had no idea how he had gotten roped into this... Well, he did, it was just ridiculous. Leo was sucked into an important client, meaning he was working over the weekend when he shouldn't have and Wendy's supervisor was on her ass and had switched up her hours last minute... And so Vince had gone to Welton, only to find that him and Jon were all alone for the weekend and that Jon had set up an appointment at a nearby venue, an appointment Leo had been initially supposed to participate in.

Long story short, he had been roped into driving for three hours, on top of the four he had already driven to get to Welton. This was fine. And then once they got to the venue, it was closed and a total bust. That was fine too. And they had stopped on a side of the road shady gas station for food and it was clearly kicking Jonah's ass and-

"I'm so sorry," Jonah groaned, pressing a fist to his stomach and avoiding looking at him. He hadn't been looking at Vince ever since he had been forced to pull over and ask Vin to drive on the way back too, since he was too nauseous to focus.

This meant that in the past two days Vince had driven a total of ten hours, almost back to back, and six of those he could bill on Jon alone. He was so guilty that he wasn't sure if he was nauseous because of the stupid fried temaki or because of nerves.

"Chill out," Vince pushed his shoulder slightly, in an affectionate manner, "I'm not mad."

"You-" Jonah gulped down, muffling a wet burp against his fist and breathing out slowly, "should be."

"Alright, give me-" Vince interrupted himself with a yawn and squeezed his eyes shut for a split second, to get rid of the slight blurriness, "give me ten minutes and I'll yell at you, if that makes you feel better. At the next stop."

"Fuck you," Jonah glared at him, wrapping an arm around his stomach and rocking on his seat, leg bouncing nervously, "it fucking hurts."

"I'm sorry, that sucks," Vince's hand, the one not in the steering wheel, moved to rest on Jon's shoulder and squeezed it in a soft manner, "are you sure you don't want me to pull ov-"

Before he could finish his sentence, Jonah dived forward and let out a deafening belch, followed by a string of little burps that sounded like he was gargling with liquid. Vince raised his eyebrows, both impressed and grossed out by the fact he could tell just how close to puking his friend was. He wasn't one to be sympathy sick, but damn...

"Fuck," Jonah braced against the dashboard and Vince looked at the road, saving them from swerving onto the oncoming traffic. He glanced quickly at Jon, noticing how his friend had assumed a corpse grey shade, instead of his skin's rich dark brown color, and how sweat was dotting his face all over.

Vince sighed, turning up their emergencies lights and starting to pull over on the side of the road, only for Jon to turn his head and glare at him, "I'm not gonna puke," he said strongly, "we should go."

"Jonah, why are you doing this to yourself?" Vince rolled his eyes, parking on the dust shoulder, "you're gonna hurl. Hurl then."

"I'm not-"

"I'm not judging you," Vince sighed, rubbing his temples and staring at his friend in an amused way, "but goddammit, you look so sick, just get it up and-"

"Please, can-" Jonah all but whined, rocking back and forth, "can you stop talking?!"

Vince scowled at him, not bothering to answer the man and resting his chin on the steering wheel, looking out the windshield to the road ahead. It was sunset and he was not looking forward to driving the remaining an hour and a half in the dark, when his eyes were already burning.

Next to him, Jon curled up more and let out another small burp, looking like he wanted to become one with the door. Vince closed his eyes and waited, yawning once more. He counted one, two, three burps before Jonah threw the passenger door open and stuck his head out, letting out a pitiful moan.

Vince sighed, moving on the seat in order to rest a hand between his friend's shoulder blades and rubbing up and down, "just get it up, man, you'll feel better in a moment..."

"We should never have c- I should never-" Jonah choked out, before his body decided to cut his apology short by sending up his lunch in a powerful wave all over the side of the road.

Vince wrinkled his nose in distaste and patted his back, forcing his friend to belch, "there you go, get that shit out of your belly. Freaking rancid place," his own gut was starting to ache a little, "atta boy."

"I'm not a fucking horse," Jonah growled, spitting in the dirt and clearing his throat, "why aren't you pissed? I ruined your weekend."

"I don't know, Jon, from where I stand it looks like your weekend was more ruined than mine," Vince chuckled, reaching without thinking and messing Jonah's curls as the man sat back in correctly, slamming the door.

"I guess," Jonah leaned into his touch, seeking some comfort before his rational side caught up with him and he straightened up abruptly. Vince snorted.

"You can rest on my shoulder, I promise I'm not gonna tell Leo," he said in a hushed manner, as if they were trading secrets. Jonah opened a small, exhausted smile, curling up against the window.

"You're too nice, Vince, I hate it."

His friend blushed, rolling his eyes and flicking at Jonah's ear in an annoying, older brother way, "yeah, sure you do, Jonny. Sure you do."

I love this game so much!! as a Jamie girlie I kind of feel bad for liking him, cause I feel like I'm just feeding in the narrative and being one of the rest by that saying of the "Campus boyfriend". It worries me that he thinks we aren't any different from everyone and get disappointed/uncomfortable D: so, am I crazy or just overreacting?? overall this game is amazing, keep up the awesome work <3

Hoho, you have fallen for my trap card, because I am going to list out dialogue for ALL the possible answers that I didn't do in the recent comic! You will be subjected to long answers because I have not written in a WHILE.

But first, OW, no yeah, I think Loop would answer with what you mentioned, though maybe they would be vague about it, because I don't think Loop would know what Isabeau wished for since in-game Siffrin only finds out at the end of Act 5. It would be a very fine line between wanting to make Siffrin feel bad about himself but also a bit of self-deprecation.

But let me put all the answers right here under the cut for y'all <3

Loop: Who do you think sent me to help you?

"The Universe?"

Loop (LOL3): That's kind of a cop-out answer, isn't it? The Universe leads, and we can only follow, so obviously they had their hand in sending me here! Loop (LOL5): What, did you think you could weasel something out of me for that pitifully vague answer? Well, tough luck Stardust, you're not getting anything!

"The Favor Tree?"

Loop (Thinking): ... The Favor Tree isn't exactly a person, you know? Why do you think it would put me here? (... You feel like you were onto something, since The Favor Tree grants wishes, but it's not exactly making them, is it?) Siffrin (Disbelieving1): I guess I mean that someone wished for you to be here with The Favor Tree...? Loop (Well2): ... in a sense, I suppose. Loop (Teehee2): Bit of a weak answer, though. Riley: Does NOT bring it up, acknowledge it, or mention it in any way. They! Are! Sleeping! On! The! Floor! If you somehow manage to get them to come and sleep next to you in bed they're on the edge, about to fall off, they wake up with zero hours of sleep. (though they're used to that.)

Franco: Will make jokes as soon as he sees it, a lot of jokes. But he wouldn't feel comfortable actually sleeping next to you if thats not what you want. Will either take the couch if there is one, or will set up a pillow-wall between the two of you. In the morning the jokes resume though.

Sigourney: Takes one step into the room and then slowly turns to you with a smile. Whether or not anything actually happens doesn't matter, if she's asleep she ends up cuddling anything next to her so you'll be in the line of fire.

Dame: Was the one who asked for one bed. Makes a genuine attempt to at least look distraught at the very notion, the very idea, of having to sleep next to you, but they supppooossseee they can stomach it. (they make sure to wear their nicest PJs for you) Though when it comes to actually sleeping they're stiff and unmoving and probably wont actually sleep.

Rebel: "You'd need not to set up this ruse to share my bed. Even if we had two I'd be liable to push them together for a night."

Harper: Takes a single step into the room then tells you that you'll be the one sleeping on the floor. You'll wake up in the middle of the night with them sleeping next to you. In the morning they're back in the bed though.

This is a tough one! I haven't really thought about my OCs with kids, besides very fuzzy ideas.

I think Jon/Leo would go for old fashioned names, with cutesy nicknames. A mix of Jon (Jonah Isaac Banks) and Leo (just the one syllable). Some ideas: Beatrice/Bee, Katherine/Kitty, Penelope/Penny... As you can see, I do imagine them with a daughter!

I don't actually see Vince/Wendy with kids.... Which is a shocker, considering of all my OCs Vince has been the most vocal about wanting them. However Wendy has been very vocal about not having any interest whatsoever and I think Vince has a billion kids around him at all times, so if this is in the cards for them at all it's super super down the line. So far we're going through so much other stuff.

I don't think Lucas has ever thought of a baby name, but Bella definitely has, given the pregnancy scare of a few stories back. I think she'd want something gender neutral and badass, also she's a huge geek, so character inspired names would not be off the table for her: Roxy, Alex, Sam, Blake, Ryle, Artie... Lucas probably would only ever veto his own name or Christopher.

Wendy picked hers because people already said she was "fairy like" given the fact she's tiny, besides she's a disney adult lmao. Absolutely that friend that drags you to watch all the Frozens. However, end of the day, it came down to her wanting to keep her initials, W.Y.M, and that Wendy fit well with her middle name Yves, which she didn't change despite it being a typical "male" name in France.

i’m having illario dellamorte thoughts. what if instead of knowingly betraying lucanis he did it like, unknowingly. idk how this would work but i’m intrigued by what it gives us. illario ‘i accidentally caused my cousin’s death & can never tell anyone’ dellamorte. genuinely grieving. blaming himself. does he take advantage of the year before lucanis comes back?? does caterina still ignore him the whole time?? how different is the canon plotline once rook shows up with lucanis post-rescue…..

anyways i would love your thoughts!!

95% of what i do with illario operates on the idea that he is frighteningly competent so you can see why the way the crows plotline plays out in the game might frustrate me. it’s also this reason why i don’t actually think too much about “illario got lucanis killed, but didn’t mean to do it”, because i like the idea that everything illario does in his life is planned to the second and that he’s too well trained to mess up this badly, if that makes sense. with that being said. 5% of my brain power does sometimes go towards “and what if he just sucked actually” and it was a theory i enjoyed before the game even released. so i have in fact been thinking about this anyway LOL . maybe he tries to honeypot zara, accidentally actually reveals lucanis’ next assassination job, and zara gets rid of him as a ‘gift’. illario is horrified and that gets even worse when lucanis’ body shows up, and he assumes this must be because he spurned zara by leaving her and not having the guts to seize power.

i think we could make his inferiority complex worse. illario’s worst fear confirmed: he is as worthless as his grandmother believes he is, botching something so badly that he accidentally sentences his cousin to death when what he wanted was lucanis just… out of the way for a bit (maybe while he kills caterina. LOL. i still think his resentment of caterina trumps his jealousy for lucanis though those two things are very intertwined its hard for him to differentiate them). so incapable that he got the only person who actually supports him killed, and now he’s dreading the idea of becoming first talon. he doesn’t want first talon without lucanis backing him, and now the only person left is caterina which is suffocating and makes him even unhappier. at least he hadn’t lived through her alone, and now through consequences of his own decisions, illario has no choice but to.

i think that would affect his plans for talon because of how horribly he’d fucked up, and tries to mask it because if he suddenly actually doesn’t want to be talon that would be a red flag for everyone. lucanis coming back would delight him (talon is within his sights again if lucanis comes back!) and freak him out. i think the plotline would actually be pretty similar because of this freak out, so he still shows up to zara’s fight to cover his tracks. lucanis can never know, caterina can never know, because what little faith they have in him will be lost. like he committed fratricide and didn’t even MEAN to😭 ...corpse whispering still happens, and zara is like “ohhh that coward. he can never finish what he started, can he?” + “elaborate.” + “i gave him what he most wanted in the world and instead of being grateful, he ran away.” so lucanis finds out about what happened but feels a mix of “illario, you idiot” + pity because turns out he didn’t even mean for it to happen, and keeps his secret for now, otherwise he’d probably have to kill him.

i also think not meaning to kill lucanis would sour his feelings towards the venatori, who are a reminder of how badly he failed, so the alliance wouldn’t happen. this does mean if the story goes on as it does in canon, he has to take desperate measures another way and kidnap caterina for some other reason but i can’t think of why….. maybe a thing where illario is like “ok. lucanis is distracted by the elven gods. this time i just have to kill nonna for real and then nothing is in my way” and recruits disgraced houses or houses that don’t like caterina to do so? not sure tbh but i don’t believe caterina made it so far without making enemies lol. this would happen post bloodbath + corpse whispering— lucanis leaves his cousin unchecked because while he knows illario didn’t mean for him to die, he has no idea how far he would go to have caterina dead. teia could find out about this and send word to foil the kidnapping and assassination attempt

so ‘murder of crows’ is still about saving caterina, the illario-lucanis fight still happens, but it’s a little more hesitant and lots of “why won’t you just let me kill her? i’m doing this for the both of us”. he’s had to live with being the un-favorite, but never would have thought lucanis would actually pick caterina if it came down to it. with all of his missteps here, i think the final decision (and i think it should be like this in canon anyway) would be to imprison illario or kill him. imprisoning him is just a lot of “i can’t kill illario as much as he couldn’t kill me”, vs killing him as is expected from him as talon, and what he knew he would have to do after finding out about illario's failures. unlike canon, where illario is actually meaning to kill him and can be seen as a 'good crow' despite the sloppiness, here he's like. just bad at everything. the allied traitor houses that went against caterina would also have to be imprisoned or killed. no happy ending at all here, and lucanis still becomes first talon. now that i’ve written it out this is actually probably the worst ending LOL

the above sticks a lot to what is canon to the game (plot points, choices, etc) and i didn’t go very far away from it so it's like canon 3 inches to the left. tho my thoughts on this are not fleshed out* because i think illario works better as an antagonist character that sets things in motion !! not necessarily the villain in a cain-abel story, but a character who opposes lucanis while still not wanting to hurt him. that kind of discipline where he finds a way to get what he wants (first talon) without compromising what he also cares for (family) is so much more fun for me than a man who apparently just loses it and decides to enact a bad plan to get rid of his cousin. if he waited 20+ years to become talon i think he’d be more careful when it came down to it. if i had my way illario would be playing insane 5d chess to rival solas (insert black sails “i once thought that to lead, to be liked was just as good as feared. and that may very well be true. but to be both liked and feared all at once, is an entirely different state of being.”)
