I and my family are facing a crisis I never saw coming. My father has turned his back on us, and I'm terrified of what's next. I still need to escape this situation. In 2 days, that's wild... from the bottom of my heart this means so much. but I really hope we can get out of this awful position we were so suddenly put in. 10k and 20k are gonna be a big help if we hopefully reach that far, but I know 30k will make it so we can actually leave this awful situation safe and sound without massive sacrifices. we've got pets we care for deeply, they're family, and he doesn't even consider that... this man has never cared for us though he claims otherwise, and now threatens us with pulling the one supportive thing he agreed to supply from under us at a pivitol moment in all our lives. I'm sad, angery, depressed, and oh so very tired... I'm sorry for the ramble, but I have been unable to sleep the past few nights because of the anxiety this has caused within me. I want to thank you all again for sharing, for donating, even just the well wishes helps a lot. you have all been wonderful, and I can't thank you enough. This has eased at least some of the immediate fear, but we're still a long way off from safety.

In your opinion, which Voyager crew member would be the most likely to adopt a stray creature as a pet, and who would be the most likely to try and get it off the ship?

oooh let's go through the crew...

Janeway – i meannnnn she has a habit of taking in strays and i firmly believe that would extend to pets too given that she canonically has dogs too.

Chakotay – he would be pro-pet but not really a deciding vote in any camp.

Tuvok – yeah let's be honest, Tuvok would definitely be anti-pet initially but this B plot would 100% end in him reluctantly falling in love with it and then sighing and saying "i suppose if it would improve morale, it would be only logical to keep it..."

Tom – definitely instigated the Voyager Pet Debate and tries to get the new pet to learn tricks and then gets really frustrated when it doesn't learn them after an hour.

Harry – horribly in love with the new pet but is sweating while he remembers all the Starfleet regulations about adopting unknown fauna and keeping it aboard even after Janeway says it's fine.

B'Elanna – doesn't really get the whole pet thing but is still very happy to let it cuddle on her lap.

Neelix – i entirely forget if canon supports this or not but in my head i don't think Talaxians have a concept of pets/keeping domestic animals for enjoyment rather than functionality so he's initially put off by a random stray animals wandering around the ship but like Tuvok learns to love it.

EMH – firmly in the anti-pet camp. is jealous that people seem to be taking the pet's wellbeing more seriously than they ever treated him.

Kes – very pro-pet, appoints herself in charge of taking care of the pet, let's it sleep in her room, finds it foods to eat, it starts following her around like a familiar.

Seven – very much does not understand why people love the pet, why people are sacrificing their time and energy to take care of it, or how it provides any material benefit to the ship. to Seven's dismay, the pet still really likes her.

you're pretty much right with Bee. this has been the wildest day he's had since forever, he's very much just along for the ride and he's kinda just "this may as well happen :)"-ing through everything. he's also lowkey clinging to the one (1) good new he's gotten from this whole affair for dear life. like. he could freak out about the fact his entire life has been a lie and he's been working himself to death for a tyrant that's betrayed their entire race to their sworn enemies. or he could be happy his new best friend is extra cool now. so. y'know. glass half-full half-empty kinda deal.

and even though Orion didn't know (which... is also a point of contention between them with Dee not being quite able to believe one could forget such a thing even as Orion swears over and over again he had no idea) there's still a divide between them that wasn't there before. now Orion is this almost mythological being directly created by their god for greater things while Dee is just... a miner.

now Orion is a Prime. and Dee has just found out what happens when you trust a so-called Prime.

and he also can't help but wonder, as he remembers all those times Orion ignored what he said and involved him in his crazy schemes with no regard for what he thought about it, if it's just in the nature of Primes to do as they wish without considering what it means for everyone else.

but the real victim here is elita who is experiencing a level of cringe that hasn't been seen in cybertron before nor will be seen again until maybe four million years and a war later during peace negotiations. pray for her.

what's your favorite omegaverse headcanon you've gotten from someone else? what's your favorite omegaverse headcanon you've come up with?

i don’t remember where i got it from, but i remember seeing someone say that the reason alphas are seen as more aggressive is because they tend to have a strong ‘protect’ drive without anything to direct it to. omegas, on the other hand, have a strong ‘protect nest’ drive, so their aggression becomes specific and pointed. society treats it as well-warranted when an omega attacks someone for endangering their nest (or home). alphas tend to attach strongly to their mates/pups/pack, and they tend to mellow out with something to focus their strong ‘protect’ drive on.

i’m not sure about my favorite omegaverse headcanon tbh. i feel like a lot of what i post on here is pretty standard stuff, just in more detail or with bullshit human anthropology attached lol. i guess i really like the idea of early humans differing: early betas having enlarged scent glands and stronger scents so that they could function as scouts for nomadic packs; and omegas having larger VNOs (the organ that detects scent) compared to betas and alphas, so that they could both pick up beta scents and locate pups more easily. i think betas have the smallest VNOs but the most densely packed scent glands.

Okay but about the pennywaynes in a/b/o, I'm still fascinated by the dynamic, and there's a scenario thats spinning around in my head and I need to tell you (Im the reader that sent you an ask about them yesterday)

I was thinking, not very long after a diamond sky Thomas has to leave for whatever reason for a couple of days, and Alfred just. Sinks into his beta instincts. He didn't even know they could get that strong, but he spends three days awake, guarding and marking the property, making sure his Pack Omega is resting and taking care of herself, and basically when Thomas gets home, he finds a stressed Martha because she can smell Alfred's anxiety and exhaustion, and a Pack Beta who has been working non-stop guarding the nest.

And here is where I can't decide what's better, Thomas manhandling a struggling sleep-deprived Alfred into the nest, or Thomas being soft, scenting his beta, telling him what a good job he's done, but that it's time to rest.

Idk, but I DO know that Thomas HAS to hold Alfed down by the neck and alpha command him to "stay DOWN."

And Alfred just going limp.

What if I just screamed!!! Aghhhh you are speaking my LANGUAGE I swear you're like in my head? Yes, this exactly -- all of it, somehow Thomas manages to both chide/order Alfred into the nest AND he's also soft and tells him he did a good job. Because holy fuck yeah, imagine taking on that responsibility and three days later your PACK ALPHA is leaving you alone in the nest with the pack omega and she's PREGNANT? Instincts would be going HAYWIRE. Poor Alfred, he wouldn't sleep literally for days. He'd be so wired. Like Martha would try to drug his tea or something out of desperation and it doesn't even slow him down because his body and instincts are like must wait for the alpha, must wait for the alpha --

Poor Martha and Thomas learn very quickly after that adventure that they can't just expect Alfred to take on all these instincts but also invalidate them. Like yes is it kinda silly not to sleep for three days? Absolutely. But to a freaked-out pack beta that is the ONLY option. You asked him to serve in this role! He is doing the Thing required of the Role!

Ngl that poll of yours is really interesting to me, like yeah I'm black and have been into media with their antiblackness problems since I was a kid and teen without properly noticing and it's crazy in way bc ok fans will mainly divide themselves into A) dgaf B) dropped and openly hates C) still consumes buts is openly critical and it's insane how many ppl with openly condemn said antiblackness while not actually understanding and end up either do/say something different and it ends up being antiblack.

I agree! But in order to properly analyze and be critical of something, you have to be honest about the thing and where you stand in relation to it. If you can't do that, no analysis you do is going to be unaffected by that bias. If you can't be honest and say "no, I likely wouldn't give up this thing despite its antiblackness", you're certainly not going to have a good time dealing understanding everything else that comes with how you contribute to a racist society lol. How can I convince you to give up white privilege if I can't convince you to go without a racist TV show, you know?

shinyduo/gempearl post-SL is sooo funny because before SL they were the typical "friends who like to do pranks with and against each other, partners in crime, really adorable sometimes" and then SL happened and they became OBSESSED with each other (really obvious from pearl's side since gem was more subtle) and innuendos started to appear left and right. now after WL they are not only obsessed they are also 10x times freakier and flirty. it's gem's fault a lot of the time but pearl enables it and digs herself into a deeper hole so she gets a wack too.

i am pleading to the sky for the fated shiny duo alliance to happen this year because 1) i am sure gem's possessiveness would get multiplied by 20 even if she tried to not show it and that'd be really fun + pearl would like it 2) their dynamic is so complex that they could be anything (codependent or healthy or possessive or die for each other or kill for each other or-) and 3) the aftermath of them teaming would be funny asf and the streams would be horrendous

you are right in the shift of them pre and post-SL, like, they are STILL giving cute partners in crime but also they’re. so. abnormal about each other??? thats not to say they weren’t flirty/making innuendos before the life series but god did all of that get worse after. also, it has kinda been shown how Gem is the one saying most of the questionable things, but Pearl definitely contributes a lot as well. lets not forget the pickles

of course we’re all manifesting for them to properly team up. its not even subtle at this point they both know that. the only things stopping it from happening really are luck and Gem’s homophobia (/j) cough. i mean. they would definitely get time to resolve what they failed to address back in WL if they’re allied together and can have time to talk. it could also make things worse but we’ll be seated either way. and then we’ll be questioning our existence again when the streams inevitably come

BUT. imo the alliance i really want is them + any other player. yep. i want a third wheel. it can literally be any other player because i think having someone else to affect/witness their dynamic is always entertaining, allows for exploration of new potentially fun dynamics between Pearl/Gem and another player while still offering plenty of opportunity for them to be. weird (/aff), and generally just gives the team a new spin instead of just Murder Camel 2.0. like. i’ve put way too much thought into this so there’s a whole ramble under cut about some of the potential trios and why i think they could be cool for a new life series

Jimmy: originally my life series s6 team predictions was pearl/gem/jimmy </3 mainly out of wanting more pearl + jimmy interactions, but i think having gem there helps just keep the team together. i thought they would be a nice team for jimmy in terms of support (think the SL scene where jimmy finds out he’s not the first out and they’re the ones there cheering him on) but well. thankfully we still had bamboozlers… anyway gem’s ego will get even worse if she had this team, and don’t we all wanna see that

Lizzie: PLEASE. impossible minecraft sent me to the point of no return because now i’m BEGGING for more pearl/gem/lizzie interactions. please. the girlies. we just need more gem + lizzie interactions in the life series imo, and we’ve already seen what happens when pearl + lizzie are together. i can’t tell you for sure if i think any betrayal will happen in this team but it would be really funny if there was, mainly just so lizzie and gem can bicker while pearl is just. There like a sad puppy. it’s cool if there isn’t though, i can see them thriving straight to the finale. cmon. think of the yuri

Ren: hey. hey. remember that one ren stream? you know the one. the wedding. do you see where i’m getting at. do you see the dynamic. it’s so funny to me ok. and we haven’t even mentioned the times where ren has mixed them up. i think it would be a horrible time for him to have to deal with these two and that’s so entertaining. if i picked jimmy because i thought he would have a nice time then for ren it’s for the complete opposite reason. make him suffer with these weirdos

Cleo: i mean. cmon. this one doesn’t need that much explanation. the people want a pearl/gem/cleo team

Impulse: same as cleo— SOUP GROUP ASSEMBLE!!!

Etho: pearl + etho interactions are great. gem + etho interactions are great. boom. gem gets to bully them both, then they either make a really successful trap or perform the greatest fumble ever! i see nothing but wins here

BigB: nosy neighbours… what if we tried again… plus i’m pretty sure there was a temporary gem + bigb team in RL, so why not give them a whole season. i think it would be fun. it’d be interesting to see how this team shifts with bigb’s general play style in the life series. i wonder how the base(s?) would turn out

Mumbo: listen to me. they have the funniest opportunity here to fluster this man to the high heavens. think about SL ep 5. think about it

Scar: so like. remember that 2v1? yeah. crazy, right? no but okay i don’t think if they teamed up there would be that much more emphasis on the 2v1 after all that in WL, but there WOULD be good times. i know this deep in my heart. the pearl/gem/scar interactions would go crazy. i hope they go on a hunting spree

Joel: i think this one is the least likely (on account of the fact that pearl has teamed with him in SL, and then gem doing the same in WL) but there could be beautiful world where pearl and joel build an even bigger and better car and gem just watches and sighs
