RoboTessa almost spawned outside the shop door, borrowing power from her solver. She stood in Sheila's way, one eye royal blue, one eye pastel blue as she spoke in a monotone and hurtful tone, "How about next time you need neatening up I make a house call and use a sword to lighten some extra weight off your shoulders? I don't mean your head.... but let's just say you won't be able to tie a ponytail for MONTHS."
Suddenly, just as soon as she appeared, RT was back in her shop, locking the door and closing the blinds, she didn't have any more patience for someone belittling her, her existence, and her business.
A begrudging visit - roleplay with @xxrobotessaxx
Sheila wanted no part of it but she didn't really have a choice since going around with her hair even a little tattered was unacceptable. Sheila bursts in, scowling, not believing she had stooped so low to visit the robot’s salon. She immediately sat down on an empty chair. With an attitude she calls RoboTessa to her.
Get over here! Don’t question why I bother to be here. I have no other choice. You better do you job right, I can’t deal with my hair being even slightly imperfect and I don’t want you to make it worse! I have to maintain my beauty, unlike a certain somebody I know. Just..Just even up my hair somehow. Don’t be an incompetent drone and don’t you dare say otherwise. It’s a blessing that I came over here.

🦇 It Happened One Summer Book Review 🦇
❓ #QOTD What's your go-to summer read?❓ 🦇 Hollywood's It-Girl Piper Bellinger is the paparazzi's beloved wild child. There's always the promise she'll go a bit too far for the Gram, including hosting a rooftop party that lands her in jail after a bad breakup. Hoping she'll learn some sense of responsibility, her wealthy step-father ships her off to her late father's dive bar in the small town of Westport. She's not there for five minutes before she meets grumpy sea captain Brendan, and the two instantly clash. Will Piper reconnect with her past (charting a course for a new future in the process) or can she get back to LA before the end of her three-month sentence?
💜 Despite how much my beloved Booksta girlies adore her writing, I honestly didn't know what to expect from Tessa Bailey (and I'm glad, because I love shaping my own opinions). From chapter one, there's this instantly familiar yet distinct voice that SCREAMS chick-flick rom-com (with Kesha playing at full volume in the background). Piper is Alexis from Schitt's Creek meets Elle Woods ala Legally Blonde. She's vibrant and bubbly and yes, a little ditzy, but after a few chapters, you start to love her for the heart behind it. Brendan is all salt water and deep grumbles, strong yet stuck in his ways. My latest concern with rom-coms lately has been a lack of chemistry. Too many books rush to the smut, forcing two characters to fit when they just don't. Chemistry sparks off the page pretty quickly between these two, though--not in lingering glances, but in actions. Brendan has memory foam installed over a bunkbed so Piper can stop bruising herself. He changes her locks because everyone in Westport has a key to her building. It's not insta-love (but once things progress, these two burn HOT), and I'm grateful for that.
💜 It's the underlying messages that bumped this up to a rare 3.5 stars. People have been putting Piper into a box for too long, telling her she's just like every other girl in LA, that she won't amount to more. Brendan shows her she has so much more to give than she realizes. We start adoring Piper through Brendan, and that's a powerful thing. Meanwhile, Piper recognizes her worth and accomplishes far more than she thought herself capable. There's an underlying theme of guilt and grief from both sides, too; Piper for her late father, and Brendan for his late wife. They heal together and end up stronger for it.
💙 It's the third act that made my star rating falter. Piper clinging to pieces of her past, that lingering what-if of falling back into her comfort zone and old ways--Brendan shouldn't have faulted her for that, turning it into a blowout fight when Piper admitted EARLIER that she didn't know what to do. After that, it's a number of conveniently placed obstacles that keep them apart. Piper's sudden decision to go back to LA felt out of place given her character development, too. Though it wasn't a full third-act breakup, it was enough to feel exhausting.
🦇 Recommended for fans of Emily Henry, Ali Hazelwood, and Hannah Grace.

@jo1sstuff i'm going to reply to this in its own post so i can find it and add to it later more easily if i need to
also it's under the cut because it's a demonstation that's long af
tldr: technology
so here is the line of thinking that got me to this conclusion:
1) episode 65 presents something totally different from any other category we've met so far, and that is analog horror (so found footage, creepy videos, possessed digital devices, and the likes). usually it is about something that's old, or older than the person who uses it (just like tessa winters in 2017 who finds the (alleged) program made by sergei yshanka in the 1980's)
and analog horror has been a very important part of the 'new age' of horror as technology and the internet grew. there are some very famous things like the movies the ring and blair witch project, or mickey mouse whistling, or the scp foundation, or the new doom mod, or creepy pasta, you get the idea
my personal comment: it's very meta to have an episode on analog horror which is literally an ancestor and relative to tma itself, and i LOVE this
2) tessa winters makes a loooong monologue about the differences between analog and digital and draws our attention to jon's tape recorder
which reminded me of the very first episode where he explains why he records some statements on tape: "I plan to digitise the files as much as possible and record audio versions, though some will have to be on tape recorder, as my attempts to get them on my laptop have met with… significant audio distortions." (unofficial transcripts)
3) in episode 62, gertrude says: "Who does the book come from?" and mary keay responds: "The End, of course." (unofficial transcripts)
notice how she said 'who' and not 'where'. so my guess is the categories are not only there to classify the different types of fears but also have an 'entity' or a 'god' attached to it
my personal comment: i like the idea that they are similar to the great old ones from lovecraft, who also plays a very fundamental part in today's horror
4) i'm then reminded of american gods by neil gaiman (<3), where the gods of the old worships have a war with the new ones (technology, media, etc.)
which brings us back to our point no.2 (analog vs. digital), and the fact that apparently the only things that won't go into jonathan's computer are the statements that fit into the categories, so that are associated with our 'old gods' (the end, and the 13 others)
"why wouldn't they go digital?" you might ask. well, because they are at war with digital and the new technologies (or something of that kind). here i quote the unofficial transcripts from mag47: jonathan says: "You make it sound like there’s a… war." to which delirium michael responds with: "[heh] Then I will say nothing further. I wouldn’t wish to tarnish your ignorance prematurely."
5) the fear of our future being taken over by technology is a very real thing (detroit become human comes to my mind rn, also fallout somehow (even though it's more about capitalism but technology is still important, i.e. nuclear weapons), also the current discourses with ai, etc.)
so its just a draft for now, but my guess is something along the lines of 'technology' or like 'progress'
P.S. (i know editing a post after it has been posted is bad but honetly idc): you (jo1sstuff) said something about the 15th corridor not being there at the time of episode 35, which confirms this theory about 'technology' being a new, emergent deity

https://www.tumblr.com/virtchandmoir/179143651020/disclaimer-this-is-not-a-new-interview-i-am
Have you ever listened to this interview? I would love to hear your thoughts about it. Alma seems more shy than I thought. Lol at Scott always running home crying every time he played with his brothers. And calling him a bad poker player because he shows all his emotions on his face. Being too emotional is something he’s struggled with his whole life I guess. I noticed she seems to have the most trouble answering questions about Scott compared to her other boys. Pj had to take over a few times and answer for Alma.
i do remember this interview - it's good, she does seem soft spoken. i always have this impression of her, idk it it's true, that she's soft hearted and emotional but has some steel to her. and has strong convictions about the right way to do things. and that she's a workaholic who doesn't like to be idle. maybe she hesitates answering about Scott because anything she says is going to be more remembered and dissected. we're talking about this podcast because she's his mom after all, and this interview is from around the start of the comeback
i'm always 👀 that she says her son Charlie is her most athletic - maybe she means in running faster, throwing a ball harder, all around athleticism. because it's hard to imagine you have one who's the goat at one sport and another who was better who didn't' pursue sports further. i didn't know Charlie was a pairs skater through novice nationals
she's so practical, saying she steered her boys to ice dance because it would be a good part time job being a dance partner for girls taking their tests at the rink
she says more than once that Scott is passionate, like that's his trait most notable to her. the street hockey story about it "always [being] the baby" coming home crying is a good one. the kind of tidbit you'll only hear about from a mom. how her sons signed up each year for figure skating because they loved being in the ice show. that it was mother-son time for them to be at the rink with her, that they would hang out with their friends there.
her coaching philosophy seems like it might be carrying forward at IAMO: that a coach needs to be a real person, sympathetic to the needs of a skater, to make their athlete the best person possible for life ❤️
her father was in the military, and her older siblings boarded in London because of skating, so then their mom moved Alma and Carol there as well while their dad commuted to Ottawa. Danny and Sheri boarded in Waterloo before Tessa and Scott did, also for skating.
that Tessa and Scott always had a natural glide, a poise, and love for performing, even as kids. this was ❤️ too - that she just wanted them to be happy when they came off the ice - "when they come out for the warmup i either get really nervous or i'm like all right because i know what they're like. when they're finished, i watch them in the k&c, if they're excited about how they skated then all is good"
says the rink keeps her young (she wasn't that old when she gave this interview, c'mon Alma) and when prompted to fill in the blank, skating is ... amazing

so 😕 about how Tessa has all these moments in internal monologue about how deep down she’s always known Aunt Harriet making excuses for Nate wasn’t right and that he didn’t deserve all they both did to coddle him and that she always compartmentalized to see him as a good older brother, and how that’s all come to the surface now she knows he was willing to sell her out (though not the full scope of that) but then when Mortmain comes she still instinctively doesn’t tell Nate and goes instead ‘to protect him’ ugh. Like it feels so real as a depiction of a woman internalizing societal norms even though part of her is aware…
