One of the really amusing things about college is that if you pay attention you sometimes can discern some of your professor's favorite pet concepts.

For instance, in my Topology course this semester, the Zariski topology has come up at least once in every single homework set so far, and in multiple lectures.

And okay, that's not that weird. The Zariski topology is a really important object in a LOT of fields, especially algebraic geometry. And discussing it at length is a really pedagogically sound move because the Zariski topology is a good example of a topology with a very well motivated structure (the closed sets are the algebraic sets!) that still very naturally gives rise to a lot of strange features, like the way all open sets in the standard topology are Zariski-dense. It was quite effective at startling me out of the complacency of unconsciously basing my intuition of how topologies behave entirely on the standard topology on the reals. So my professor bringing up Zariski so often doesn't necessarily mean he has any special affection for it.

My professor writes many of the homework problems himself. Not all of them - the less interesting ones he lifts from the textbook- but some. Well, every single Zariski topology question I've encountered so far is an original from this guy. I know because the all the questions he writes personally have paragraphs of commentary contextualizing why he thinks the problem is interesting and where the ideas in the problem are going later in the course. And well- let's just say the asides on the Zariski topology have been copious indeed

AND THEN there's the way he talks about the Zariski topology in class! It's with this blend of enthusiasm and fascination only comparable to the way I've seen tumblrites talk about their blorbos. Like hey! Come behold this sgrungy little guy! Isn't he fucked up? Isn't he marvelous? And I look and I can only conclude YEAH that is indeed a spectacular specimen, he's so strange, I want to put him in a terrarium and study him (and then I get to! In my homeworks!)

Anyways. It makes me really happy picking up on how excited my professor is to share this topology with us. I'm kind of baffled that people assume math is a boring field full of boring people when there exist folks like my professor who get this passionate about a topology!

TTRPGs As Terrariums For Blorbos

One thing that I think isn't covered enough in TTRPG recommendations is styles of play.

There's a lot of "this game has this tone," or "this game is this amount of crunchy," but less "what are you playing towards?"

In games like Microscope and I'm Sorry Did You Say Street Magic? and The Quiet Year, you're playing to see what happens to the setting.

In games like Mork Borg and Into The Odd and Mothership, you're playing to see how far your character can get.

And in a lot of games, you're playing to create a blorbo, an OC, just a little guy, and the soul of the gameplay is the story of who your guy is and who your guy becomes.

This is blorbo style play.

And the thing about styles of play is that you can apply them to any game, even games that aren't really built to enable them. So I wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight onto some games that do specifically enable you to fully blorb out. (I'll try to cover a mix of genres and tones, but the rpg scene is vast so if you have a favorite that I missed please feel free to shout it out in the replies.)

-Golden Sky Stories. This is the English translation of the Japanese TTRPG Yuuyake Koyake. You play as shapeshifter kids and spirits in a small town and, instead of tracking EXP, the thing that you carry from session to session is your relationships with other characters. The tone of the game is heartwarming, and if combat happens, both sides lose. There can be emotional turmoil, but this isn't a game where you have to worry about bad things happening to your blorbo.

-New World Of Darkness. On the other hand, let's say you *want* bad things to happen to your blorbo. You want to play a guy that's really going through it. If you also like modern supernatural stories, New World Of Darkness was built for you. Characters in NWoD can be entirely non-combat, or a literal werewolf, or a noncombat werewolf. The game places a lot of emphasis on navigating through the setting socially, as its supernatural creatures tend to run in factions and starting a fight usually means making a bunch of enemies.

-Pasion De Las Pasiones. Of course, not everyone wants a fantastical setting. Sometimes good old melodrama is hearty and comforting. Pasion De Las Pasiones is a playable telenovela, and it encourages you to play your characters bold and recklessly. Every class even has a built-in Meltdown, where if you're pushed to the edge they become extra reckless, ensuring a broad fallout of messy drama when they do manage to calm down.

-Cortex System / Unisystem. Perhaps you want to drop your blorbo into an existing fictional universe? But you also want stats and meaty character creation instead of just freeform roleplay? There are easily a dozen games on the Cortex engine, including Supernatural, Firefly, Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, Marvel, and Leverage. And on Unisystem, there's Buffy, Army Of Darkness, as well as a somewhat rare I Can't Believe It's Not Planet Of The Apes.

-Lancer / Gubat Banwa. If you like blorb-y play but still want a heavy side of combat, both of these games have you covered. Lancer has a sprawling scifi universe focused on mech pilots, and Gubat Banwa has a violent and lavish mythological Philippines setting. Both of these games also have stunningly beautiful artwork, so if you like seeing a setting visually come to life, these are for you.

-Fabula Ultima. My final recommendation is also an extremely gorgeous looking game. Fabula Ultima is built on the bones of Ryuutama (itself an excellent travel-fantasy game) to enable meaty, blorby Final Fantasy style campaign play. Combat is a rich and deep option in Fabula Ultima, but so is everything from spellcasting to crafting, and players have built-in resources they can spend to affect the story. If a scene isn't quite going the way you want it to, you can spend a point to nudge it in the right direction. Fabula Ultima also feels extremely complete without being too complicated.

So there you go. Eight options, and that's barely scratching the surface of the sea of blorb-y games (Seventh Sea, Exalted, Blue Rose, Legend Of The Five Rings, Coyote And Crow, Timewatch, Nahual, and more!)

It's also not wrong to play non-blorb-y games in a blorb-y way. Do whatever you're comfortable with! But you might enjoy dipping into these titles.

Finally, if you've read this far and you're somehow still looking for MORE recommendations, I wrote this game about runaway changelings trying to find their place in the world, and it's probably the blorbiest in my catalog.

FICLET FRIDAY - Little and Lost

Prompt: Glow | Rating: G | CW: none | Word count: 533 | Pairing: Shadowgast

Essek’s knees were dirty.

That is the first thing Caleb noticed. On a normal day such a detail would be worth no mind; they have a garden at this cottage after all, and Essek is rather fond of giving it tender care. However, Essek is usually fastidious about changing from his garden clothes before winding up the stairs and through the hall into the library by the bedroom. No dirt should be tracked from door to bed, as Essek had phrased himself, and usually the worst of the green thumb is left in the laundry basket downstairs for this exact purpose.

But today Essek’s knees are stained, and hovering a good five inches higher than they should.

“Caleb, you must come!” Essek’s eyes and voice are sunbright, rushing into the library to float before Caleb. “You must see!”

“Schatz, what–” He glances around for an adequate bookmark, and finding nothing proper, just picks up the cat on his lap with one arm, the book with the other, then sets the cat onto the open book on his still-warm chair. A fluffy tail is a fine bookmark in a pinch.

Essek grabs his hand. “There is something very strange, but intriguing. I’m not sure, but maybe you know? I hope it hasn’t moved while I’ve been here, I came quickly but without observation there is no telling how fast it moves.”

Caleb feels his hand being tugged down the hall and stairs. “I am right behind you schatz.” He laughs to himself, almost jogging through his own house to follow the bounce of Essek’s sudden jubilant mood.

Once outside, Essek drops his hand and sinks to kneel in the dirt near one of the bushes along the edge of the path. He looks to Caleb over his shoulder and Caleb falls in love all over again.

“Look.” He whispers, hands slow even without the aid of dunamancy, gently parting the branches to peer deeper inside. “What is that?”

Caleb sighs looking at his soft lounging trousers, and gets to his knees anyways. That’s what prestidigitation magic is for. “What should I be looking for?”

Even as the words leave his lips he sees it: there is a gentle glow, like a moonray trapped in the green clutches of the inner bush, shining only as far as the thick leaves allow. He squints to focus, and can just spot the small form sitting on the branch.

“It looks like a glow worm, but surely not?” Essek asks.

Caleb lets out a soft exhale. “It certainly looks like one, but here? Surely not.” He repeats.

“Perhaps he is very lost.” Essek says, voice still and soft. “Perhaps he cannot find his home.”

Caleb can’t help but look away from the marvel and towards another. “Essek.” There are layers to the single word. He does not know, but can guess at Essek’s thoughts.

Essek seems to sense the shift in tone. “Do not worry Caleb, I won’t adopt this one.”

“You said that for the last three cats.” Caleb knocks fondly against Essek’s shoulder, imitating a cat himself.

“We don’t have a terrarium.” Essek replies with a frown.

“As if that has ever stopped you.” Caleb smiles.

Instead of the beach, they meet at the hotel, to avoid losing their kouhais in the ocean or sand. It wouldn't hurt to have lunch, anyway.

"A four-inch-tall Olympic swimmer gorging herself on a quarter of a donut," Teruteru marvels. He's at a table with Akane, Sonia, and Mahiru– and of course, all of the miniature Ultimates they're caring for.

Akane lowers her head to hear her kouhai's chittering voice, then lifts it again to say, "She wants you to stop starin'. Where's yours, anyway? You lose him?"

"Oh, he hid under my hat while I was cooking; he didn't like the smoke. I think he fell asleep up there."

"Aren'tcha worried he'll run out of air or somethin'?"

Teruteru lifts his hat to take a slumbering Yasuhiro and place him on the tabletop. The movement appears to startle him awake. (And who can blame him.)

"Hifumi," Mahiru chides, picking up her kouhai and turning him around. "She said to stop staring!"

At another table, Hajime sits with Nagito, Kazuichi, and Nekomaru.

"Aww. Are you making friends?" Nagito says.

His little brown-haired kouhai, Makoto, has been especially social with the others. Based on the tentatively positive reaction of Kazuichi's sheepish kouhai, Makoto seems to be a nice guy. He even pries a bit of conversation out of Kyoko, who Hajime has observed to be pretty unforthcoming.

"This is weird, right?" Hajime says, pulling Nagito's gaze away from fondly watching the tiny Ultimates interact. "I feel like we've moved past how weird this is pretty quickly."

"Check this out," Kazuichi says, taking out a little gadget he's been working on. "This motor is going to power the door to Chihiro's terrarium."

"Her terrarium is going to have an electric door?"

"Amazing!" Nagito says. "It's going to be so cool to see what everyone comes up with."

"This is weird," Hajime murmurs again.

Chiaki sits with Peko, Hiyoko, and Ibuki.

"What do you mean you don't want candy?" Hiyoko protests.

Tiny Sakura points to the chicken on Peko's plate.

"Hey, I'm in charge! I set the menu around here."

Sakura walks closer and says something that Hiyoko bends down to hear.

"Ugh! Fine." Hiyoko gets up to grab Sakura some real food.

"We have a runaway!" Ibuki warns, pointing at Celeste, who is strolling away while Chiaki is focused on a game she's playing.

"Hey hey," Chiaki says mildly, picking Celeste up and holding her close to her ear. "Where are you going?" A short pause, listening. "Oh. You don't like watching me game? That might be a problem for our co-op compatibility..."

"There. Happy?" Hiyoko demands, sitting back down with a new plate.

Sakura says something back.

"You're welcome." Hiyoko is trying to pout, but she's blushing a lot.

"Byakuya" sits with Gundham and Mikan, and Fuyuhiko stands off to the side.

Gundham has been having a harder time managing his kouhai than most, since there aren't a lot of spots on his person that he can safely keep a small person that aren't already inhabited by hamsters. He's been settling for letting her stand on the palm of his hand at all times, though a brief moment where he had to set her on his shoulder so he could bring his food to the table with both hands resulted in her sneezing from the hamster hair, and that was a weird couple of minutes before she sneezed again and seemed to calm down.

(They're all given information on their kouhais, so Gundham actually knows what happened there, but he doesn't explain it to anyone else.)

Now, Toko is chittering at Imposter's kouhai, and it does not seem to be a nice conversation. Mikan's kouhai intervenes, and he speaks loudly enough that most of his chitters are decipherable without bending down; he says something about "inappropriate language".

"He's standing up for his friend," Mikan says, smiling delightedly. "I'm so proud. Is this what it's like...?"

"What what's like?" Fuyuhiko asks, from his corner.

Before she can answer, their pleasant lunch is interrupted by a sudden appearance from Usami. She tells them again that their job is to have fun and make friends on this school trip and help their kouhais do the same, and-

Ding dong, bing bong.

Usami looks immediately panicked, as an unfamiliar sound fills the room.

Bucky had never been able to feel anything with the heavy silver arm that was forced onto him, which made it useful as a shield as well as a blunt force weapon. It was perfect for the Winter Soldier, the unfeeling assassin whose sole existence was to comply orders and complete missions. Having it blown off may have been a shock at first, but it had quickly morphed into relief when Bucky had realized that losing the arm was the first real step towards finally, truly breaking free from the shackles of Hydra.

Since having his triggers removed and embarking on his slow journey towards recovery, Bucky has decided that he has no interest in fighting anymore, keen to stay home and monitor the feeds while the rest of the team is out being heroes. He’s happy to be retired, happy to uncover new things about himself as he learns how to bake croissants and build terrariums. It’s a kind of peace he never thought he’d be able to have when he was trapped for seventy years as a prisoner of war, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything.

So when he had been asked what he would like in a new prosthetic, Bucky had said, just a regular arm; no super strength, no nifty weapons hidden in the plates. Just a functional part of his body for him to get through his daily life.

Tony had gone above and beyond, presenting Bucky with a prosthetic that had far exceeded his expectations. Not only is the arm intuitive, with nanobots that shift like real muscle and fat as Bucky moves, but it is also regulated to match the rest of Bucky’s body in strength and temperature. If it had been painted a color to match Bucky’s skin, it would almost be indiscernible to a real arm.

Despite the prosthetic being made with the most advanced technology the world has to offer—despite all the cyborg jokes his friends like to tease him with—Bucky has never felt more human.

With the new arm, Tony hadn’t just given Bucky back a sense of normalcy. He’d also given Bucky a brighter future than he had ever dared to imagine.

He still remembers the day in the lab after they had run through their last series of tests with the new arm.

He had just put down the stress ball they used for the pressure test, still marveling at how he could feel the texture of the rubber, when Tony had spoken up.

“Okay. One last thing I’d like us to try. Hold your hand out?”

Bucky had done as he was asked, not quite sure what to expect, when Tony had reached out with his right hand and wound their fingers together. He hadn’t been able to hold back a gasp, staring at their joined hands as he felt the cold of Tony’s hand seeping through the warmth that he hadn’t realized was coming from his own arm. Then Tony had squeezed once, affectionately, stepping closer until they were only inches apart, and Bucky’s heart had stuttered in his chest as he glanced up and saw the way Tony had been smiling at him.

“How does this feel?” Tony had asked, red faintly dusting his cheeks in a way Bucky had been sure no one else had ever seen before.

Feeling whole and brave, and like the ice in his veins is finally starting to melt for the first time in decades, Bucky had gently squeezed back.

“Good. It feels nice. You feel nice.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. I like it.”

“Well, good. You’re warm, so I think I’ll be holding on to you for a while. You know, just to stave off the cold,” Tony had declared.

“Sure thing, doll.”

Tony is tactile. That had been the first thing that Bucky learned about Tony when the team had been pardoned, made their amends with each other, and gone back to New York.

His touches are gentle and reassuring, drawing smiles from whoever he has focused his attention on at the moment. Rhodes leans into the hand that Tony brushes against his back as he walks by, for a moment relying on his friend’s strength instead of his leg braces. Natalia is a constant presence by Tony’s side during movie nights, bumping her head against his hand like a cat just so he would play with her hair. Peter beams like he’s aced a test every time Tony squeezes his shoulder affectionately after helping with his physics homework. Steve rolls his eyes fondly whenever Tony pokes his abs teasingly after a workout, but always teases right back by lifting his shirt up to goad Tony into doing it again.

Being touched by Tony is like a drug, and Bucky has been addicted since the first time Tony held his hand. Which is just as well, because when Tony said he would be holding on for a while, he wasn’t kidding.

After that first time in the lab, Tony always, always holds Bucky close when they’re together.

He takes Bucky by the hand and drags him to dinner with the team, never loosening his grip even when Sam raises a pointed eyebrow at their joined hands. “For warmth,” Tony says, and when he takes his place at the table, he promptly kicks Steve out of his usual spot because he refuses to release their entwined fingers. Bucky just watches amusedly as Steve takes his old seat next to Rhodes and sits down next to Tony, only letting go so he can scoot closer and swing his arm across the back of Tony’s chair as they eat.

He drapes Bucky’s left arm over his shoulder when they’re out, snuggling close to his side as they take the long way walking home after dinner. “For warmth,” Tony says, even though he’s wrapped up in several layers of expensive wool and cashmere. Bucky just pulls him in tighter and steers him towards their favorite gelato bar for dessert, because even though Tony runs cold and always claims he doesn’t like sweets, Bucky knows he’d never say no to ice cream.

He sleeps on the right side of the bed so he can use Bucky’s arm as another pillow, despite knowing the hard planes of metal can’t possibly be comfortable for him. “For warmth,” Tony says as he presses a kiss to Bucky’s reconstructed shoulder and dozes off under their weighted blanket made of the fluffiest down feathers. Bucky just smiles indulgently and curls in closer, perfectly happy to tolerate overheating in his sleep if it means going to bed every night with his favorite person in the world.

Having Tony in his arms warms him from the inside out, like an endless summer after a lifetime spent lost in the cold.

Oddities and trinkets line every space, if you have every spell component at your finger tips you'll never worry about being unable to help.

Many many terrariums to host your lovely scaley companions! Don't forget to turn off your heat lamp from time to time it's a bit of a fire hazard!

Wake up camper! Everyone else has gone home but your mom seems to have forgotten to pick you up so you'll just have to stay here and wait.

It's not all bad the plants and bugs told you their stories throughout the hot summer day. If only things could stay like this forever!

The truth is you wish you didn't have to go back to your own room. Atleast in this cabin you could pick the colour of your sheets.

This room smells like fresh cut wood and cobwebs.

Your parents could afford you a better room but it's probably best if you stay out of their way.

You'd like to have your own furniture but the space is so small you'll never fit anything in here.

The view is okay. It's nicer to just sit out in that tree. You need to think. I mean your not thinking of anything important because you yourself are not important but it's nice to think.

It's funny how you'll still miss this place once it's all said and done.

This room smells like sand and faintly of the expensive candles your parents buy.

I get why I was told seeing everyone interact was a highlight of the defenders

I give up, I'm just going to watch all of the shows. Luke and Danny getting locked in a room together, and then Jessica chasing after Matt just broke me.

I did not come into this expecting to enjoy this show so much (I just wanted to watch it so I could watch Daredevil season 3 lol)

Some of the transitions in this show... they are fascinating (editor, why do you keep flashing different locations in NYC? Am I supposed to recognize them? I don't, but that could be on me)

My y2k emo dreams when I was little was to have a room like those teen girls with all the posters and stuff papering their walls.

I think I'm finally achieving that in my room at 25 years old.

The Mulan poster is from my dad's best friend, my late uncle beaky. He gave it to me in a black frame that I promptly beat the shit out of. I replaced it just Tuesday and it makes the wall brighter and allows me to add more gold frames. My maternal Uncle (my favorite and only bio uncle) passed in April. He had this low quality Edvard Munch print in a frame, it's a canvas like paper modpodged onto particle board. I wanted a frame but it's 11 1/2 by 13 1/2 which is custom and I'm poor so I used sticky velcro on the wall. Looks good right there.

In my closet I actually removed what was stored up there because it was from when I was like 5 so I vacuum sealed the stuff and stashed them away to utilize the shelf for figures. We have a type writer that doesn't function and is so unkempt that it's not worth fixing so I'm tossing it soon. In front of it is the sour apple intellectual property waterparks vinyl I got with that AP bundle. Holding it up is a die-cast model car that I put together myself like 19 years ago. I've got a wonder woman 5 by 7 from denver fan expo a few years ago (kaela kroft art if yall like star wars that's what she's known for). Hidden behind the bunny is my coffin terrarium with owliver on top. Got a tiny lego cyberman in the closet too bc it doesn't bring joy. There are 3 rows of funkos on the bottom layer, the second almost goes 3 back across and the top only goes two deep. They are organized bottom left to bottom right: Rivers Cuomo (music) Party Poison Gerard Way (music) Sox (film) The Hex Girls (nostalgia). Middle left to middle right: Patrick Stump (music) Pete Wentz (music) Number Five (comics) Laid Back Inosuke (anime/manga). The top right to left: Viktor Krum (Film) Buckbeak (film) Severus Snape (memoriam). In front are flowers I have dried. I really like vintage ceramic decor and target has been feeding me so we got that cheeky lil guy. The box has some of Pinky's fur to keep him with me since he passed in January and the photo behind the box is of Pinky. Then there's my mad hatter hat being protected by the shittiest 2012 fashion choice a burgundy fedora bc Taylor Swift did it and so can I. I looked fucking dumb it is not wearable and I'm tossing it soon. I'll someday have details on my bookshelf but for now just know that I had a loft bed until 2016 2017 ish. So my dresser was under the bed and I had space for my desk bookshelf and storage chest. I didn't want to take my frames under my sconce down so the bookshelf went in the closet.

I started adding sentimental things to my wall above my desk when I was 15. It was small but as I went on vacations and to concerts with friends I started a collage wall. My mom made the puzzle and it's glow in the dark and also not glued together lmao. My white board has a reminder to wear black and an awsten knight sticker being held up by magnets. I actually used to have a full sized Sirius Black wanted poster and that magnet replaces it. There's a picture of me and my sibling Binket from my late uncle's house and a turtle magnet my mom got me. That picture of pinky is roughly near the spot he was on my loft bed when I took that picture. I like the art in red vines boxes so I kept that. The envelope was from my grams during lunar new year. The white envelope has some papers I made in high school that just live there now. That feesh! is a post card from Saga Japan and was given to me by a guest from Saga when I was in 6th grade. I've gotta replace that marvel poster with the updated one or I just have to take it down because it's not a full reflection of my comic interests any more. Underneath that I have texts from last night Borderlands edition, a Captain America vintage promo poster on printer paper with a pewdiepie duck stuck to it. There's a funny insta story from awsten knight to the left of Borderlands and Pinky in a halloween costume under that. We have a little Vaughn that is looking toward a Rhys. Rhys is to the right of the cap poster. Then there's a row of bands I need to see live. I have Da Vinci's Demons texts from last night from my high school locker with blink 182 and fob mixed in. Got a micro burrito and micro totoro with 3 concert tickets. And I'll stop there bc I'll post close ups later.

I custom framed my signed parx poster and Geoff's signature goes off the page so I'm gonna fight him. Next to it is Rawrly and Pohly's Silly Lillies Monet remix. Under is a picture of me and my mom and me and Bink then we have me and my dad. I also never took down my 2016 2017 Newt Scamander cosplay reference photos and a soda exploded and they just live there now.

My beloved posters. The Gotham one is new, batman is my favorite vigilante. The AC Unity trailers reminded me of Backstreet's Back (Alright) so I got the poster and that's the only AC poster they had bc it just came out. The Last of Us is from my first con. Back when Denver Fan Expo was called Denver Comic Con. I love this poster and it has never laid flat for me so I might be forced to frame it soon. Heath Ledger was my favorite Joker and the best fake Knight I had ever seen and this poster was an immediate snag. I got wall clings from when I worked at Hot Topic and Isabelle is my comfort character, I didn't realize how much I found peace when playing New Leaf until the Isabelle obsession started. Below all that and back at the beginning we have an old Lost Boys poster from when the film was released. It was my mom's. Next is the Duran Duran poster, also my mom's. The crusty DC poster needs either an update or a replacement I'm not sure yet.

Yes I have a tv tray in my room. Yes I have plans to fix that. No I haven't found a way to fix it my ps5 cord is too short. Also those crayons are from like 2001.

Octavinelle Character Songs and Associations

Moving onto our third dorm, Octavinelle, we have a variety of different genres, but also a common theme throughout. After all, these three are distinctly different, but work together beautifully.

There are rather a lot of songs in this entry; you'll see why, but also, these boys truly deserve it!

Notes: Every song is from my liked songs playlist (so feel free to judge me for my taste, haha!) and I only allowed myself to use an artist once for this project. There is also some strong language and mature themes in some of the songs, so be aware if you choose to listen to them. I've included: - A song that represents them - A song they'd listen to - and (for some) an additional song, depending on the character and circumstance

Azul Ashengrotto

Represented by: There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet - Panic! At The Disco

Azul has a mindset of changing himself, and proving himself to others. This often manifests in a rather showy manner, as he aims to present himself as not just worthy of respect, but worthy of more. And most importantly, he plans and then works towards this goal. He is also dramatic, yet well-put together and somewhat formal, much like the narrative setting of this song.

Listens to: Almost Human - Voltaire

Again, Azul is ~dramatic~ so he would like the theatricality and classiness of Voltaire's "dark cabaret"-style music. He would also at least somewhat relate to the lyrical themes of being powerful, but also feeling powerless, out-of-place, and insecure, while still presenting as dignified and confident. He almost certainly cried the first time he heard this song.

Bonus - Suggested for Trio: One O'Clock Jump - Count Basie

Since Azul, Jade, and Floyd had a trio in middle school with piano, bass, and a drum kit, I assume it was a jazz trio. As such, Azul would have likely suggested jazz standards for them to play, including One O'Clock Jump. This piece would showcase his piano skills as well as the musical abilities of the Leech twins, allowing him to perform what he was good at, and at a fairly comfortable level that would still be impressive for the audience. As always, working to maximize the output, while mitigating risk!

Jade Leech

Represented by: Mack the Knife - Bobby Darin

Look in my eyes and tell me that this song does not represent Jade Leech. Jade is reserved and dignified, seemingly a perfect gentleman. But he's also calculating, careful, and violent. He knows how to have his... uh... "fun" with it rarely being traced back to him; "He keeps it out of sight" :) The swing jazz performance and translation of Darin's version of this song also just suits Jade's personality marvellously.

Listens to: Woodland - The Paper Kites

However, I strongly believe Jade would like soft music, mostly indie pop and maybe folk or country ballads. That is, if it had lyrics that interested him. They could be either related to nature - as in this song - or of a shocking or dark subject material (like with murder ballads, such as Down in the Willow Garden). Jade would definitely listen to Woodland while arranging terrariums or getting ready to go on a hike :)

Bonus - Suggested for Trio: Billie's Bounce - Dexter Gordon

Like Azul, Jade would suggest a jazz standard for their trio, but not one with simple melodies or rhythms. Syncopation and interesting modes would provide the chaos he so craves. Billie's Bounce is also LENGTHY, at a whopping 17 minutes, 8 seconds; Jade seems the type to like to focus on a single piece, and this one is additionally varied enough to keep his interest. However, he would find it equally as interesting if the length caused his brother's attention to waver, leading to an even more chaotic play-through than may otherwise occur.

Floyd Leech

Represented by: I Can't Decide - Scissor Sisters

I know that everyone assigns I Can't Decide to Floyd, but it just fits him so well! He has some very violent tendencies, but is usually incredibly upbeat and positive about it. Plus, the instrumentation of this song completely suits Floyd's energy! There's a reason people give this song to him.

Listens to (Good mood): Loser - Beck

Like everything to do with Floyd, his music taste changes based on his mood.  If he were in a good mood, he'd look for something that's easy to dance to, a bit lyrically silly, but still clever and with a good backstory or media references. Loser fits those criteria, and is also something he would just vibe with. It's fun, it's offbeat, it's sarcastic, it's perfect for Floyd.

Listens to (Bad mood): HURT - 1 800 PAIN

But if he were in a bad mood... his music choice would be a lot darker and more aggressive. If you ever come across Floyd listening to this, any horrorcore (Gravediggaz, ICP, (early) Eminem, etc.), any grindcore (Cattle Decapitation, Lock Up, Carcass, etc.) or anything similar in tone... RUN. NOW.

Bonus - Suggested for Trio: Five Foot Two Eyes Of Blue - Spike Jones

Like Jade, Floyd would suggest a slightly unusual piece for their trio to play.  But unlike his brother, Floyd would like something rhythmically consistent and uptempo, mostly since it's easier to dance to. But he'd still want something otherwise unpredictable. And since he can play basically any instrument necessary, this song is a perfect fit. But honestly, as long as it's fun and interesting, Floyd would want to play it!

“You don't have problems until you have aunties like I do.”

Shisui opened his mouth to comment that he was literally an Uchiha; Raidou held up a hand to stall the words before they could emerge.

Unwilling to kick the hornet's nest, Shisui let the declaration lie and, insead, held the small bundle he’d wrapped in some of Sora’s tissue paper out like a peace offering. Inside, he'd managed to take advantage of Mikoto's contacts to get sealing ink fit for tattooing.

I have not read nearly enough superhero comics to actually make a definitive sweeping statement, but my impression from what I have read is that Marvel's world is a really big sandbox that all the teams are running around in, while DC has dropped everyone down into specialized habitat terrariums.
