Temari/tenten, 1?
[Ao3 Link.]
“I think that poor post’s had enough,” Temari says, and she steps easily to the side to avoid the kunai that instinctively comes flying her way.
Tenten, another already in her palm, blinks and then grins. “I dunno,” she says, gesturing to the pincushion that’s the post she’s been aiming at. “I’m trying to get every spot I can.”
Indeed, it looks like she’s on her way to success as she tosses her next one - a kunai slides in with just a thump, not even the clang of metal on metal, into a spot Temari had not even been able to see. Temari’s eyebrows lift. “How many do you have left?” she asks, stepping over and alongside Tenten.
She considers, hand pressing to the pocket on her side. “Five,” she says. “It won’t take that long.”
Temari smirks, and she leans in - using her just slightly taller height to her advantage. “You’re really going to keep me waiting?” she asks, and her hands slide to rest on Tenten’s hips.
Tenten turns pink. “It’s not that long,” she protests, but it’s a weak protest, and her eyes fall to Temari’s lips. “You always interrupt me when I’m training...”
“You’re always training,” Temari points out, and she leans in further, Tenten stilling in anticipation... Only to slip her hand into Tenten’s pocket and nab the kunai, managing to fit all five in her hand as she dances back with a grin.
It takes Tenten a moment to recover and then she frowns at her, taking a step forward. “Hey, give those back!” she says.
Temari laughs. “Come over here and make me,” she says, and then she bolts.
Tenten curses hard enough to make Gai-sensei blush and takes off after her.

YES!
They’re both such independent and self assured characters and compliment each other so well whether it’s platonically or romantically. They would be such a power couple
Tenten and Temari? 👀🙇♂️
I ship it and it’s almost 90% because of the Rock Lee show where we get to see them have a rematch and Temari recognize Tenten as a skilled shinobi
Like, that’s what i would have loved (in a more serious manner ofc) in Canon. Just a rematch and Temari getting to see how much Tenten has grown and complimenting her growth, where she once insulted her lack of skill
Also just a genuinely interesting dynamic i feel canon never really explored well enough because they’re both such strong personalities
At minimum i think once they were allies they would have been great friends

Imagine a world where:
Tenten is Hokage, Temari is Kazekage and meetings with Suna and Konoha are just the respective leaders all over each other while the others try desperately (and fail) to work stuff out. Neji and Kankuro are so done. Lee and Gaara take it as an opportunity to make out as well.

"I can't swim! Someone save me!" TemaTen
Temari was born and raised in the desert. She’s been windsurfing since she could mount her own sail, alright? You drop her in the middle of No Man’s Land with her board and half a breeze and she could make it back to the cities before nightfall. She could.
But she can’t swim.
None of the desert kids can. There isn’t enough water to necessitate the skill; all the water they have is for drinking, and the elders are hardasses who don’t want feet in the water they need to survive. Rationing is strict, and being caught in the water when you aren’t supposed to is a punishable offense, even for a princess like Temari.
It doesn’t help her now that she’s in the goddamn ocean of all places (she was going to kill her brothers if she didn’t die first, and if she died first, she was going to haunt the shit out of them), with salt water in her mouth, in her eyes, her tool belt and desert scarves a heavy weight the more they soak up the water around them.
“I can’t swim!” she shouts, swallowing her pride and choking on water for it. “Someone - !”
On the ship above her, Kankurō staring down at her with more fear in his eyes than Temari has ever seen before. Gaara is still caught up in the fighting aboard, and she’s grateful. She doesn’t want her youngest brother to see her like this.
Goddamn pirates. Goddamn fucking pirates. Goddamn fucking Red Sand Sasori. Temari was going to kick his ass if she didn’t drown. Trust a former treasonous traitor to know that the first thing to do to someone from Suna in a fight was to throw them into the nearest body of water.
Fuck that guy. If Temari made it out of this alive, she was going to drag him back to Suna and execute him himself. His bounty would make a nice addition to her already sizeable inheritance.
She sees Kankurō search for something to throw to her, but she also sees an enemy come up from behind him. She wants to scream at him to watch his back, to stop worrying about her, to let a crewman save her life. The enemy’s strike goes down hard on the puppet on her brother’s back, and after that, he turns and fights.
Temari is grateful. The desert gods look kindly on those who die in battle. Less kindly on those who die choking on their most precious resource.
Fuck the ocean. Temari would like to file a complaint.
She prays to Kamatari, though she knows the minor weasel god can’t do much to take care of her from here. She tries kicking out her legs and arms, but nothing seems to work. Her heavy desert clothes drag her down further, and further still, and then the surface is a memory, and Temari is frighteningly aware of the fact that the next breath she takes will be water and nothing else.
She shuts her eyes, still clawing for the surface. Her hand brushes against something oddly soft, and she reaches for it, trying to kick herself in its direction. She grabs it, digs her fingernails in, refuses to let go. The thing grabs her back.
It’s a hand.
Temari’s eyes snap open. She isn’t as deep as she thought. There is sunlight under the water, and what she sees in front of her is so strange she can’t believe it.
There are all sorts of strange and terrible things to be found in the desert. Scorpions the size of a full grown man. Wandering tanuki that can possess you if you don’t get enough sleep at night. Snakes whose venom can kill you the second they bite you. Wisps of smoke and light that can grant your wishes.
This thing is even more wonderful.
It’s a woman. The body of a woman, or the chest at least, whose hips end in the red and white striped tail of a lionfish. Her human torso is marked with scars, her breasts bare, her brown hair in two buns. Around her hips is a strange belt almost like Temari’s, bogged down with weapons of coral and the teeth of creatures that probably fought very hard to keep their teeth to themselves.
The woman has gils on her throat that flutter as she breathes beneath the water. Pectoral fins jut out from her tail, from her back even, red and white, only slightly differently colored than the clearly poisonous fin rays that slate between them. Temari is a desert girl, she knows poison markings when she sees them.
But this woman in front of her is holding her hand. Her fingers are clawed, but her eyes are brown and oddly human. She is not going to hurt her. And this might be Temari’s last chance.
Temari uses the last breath in her body to beg.
“Save me,” she breathes, bubbles fluttering out of her mouth and up to the surface.
The woman tilts her head at her. Then, with little warning, stabs Temari with one of those terrible barbs. And around the agony that flares outward from the wound, Temari screams.
There is no air left in her lungs as she screams, but she does. And fire radiates from the wound, licks through her body, filling her with the unique heat of pain.
And then it is gone and Temari is breathing. She stares down at the barb protruding from her ribcage, then up at the creature. She grins at Temari, a grin full of sharp teeth and threat and then she darts forward and presses her mouth against Temari’s.
The kiss draws blood, and the woman sucks it into her mouth, swiping her tongue into Temari’s as she does.
She pulls out of the kiss, still smiling.
“You smell like sand,” she says. “Sand and wind; poison and blood. You are strong. Deadly.”
Temari has no idea what she’s talking about. She nods slowly anyway.
“You’re mine now,” she continues, and that makes fear and arousal (unfairly) shoot through her, radiating out of the wound in her chest. “And I protect what’s mine.”
When what is decidedly not a tail brushes against her legs, Temari looks down. And where the woman once had a magnificent tail, she now has a pair of decidedly human legs, wrapped in a sheaf of red and white striped cloth.
“Who hurt you?” the woman asks.
Temari is still a little dumbfounded, but the woman’s gaze is both intense and impatient.
“Pirates,” she answers. “They attacked the vessel my brothers and I were on.”
“Kin?” the woman asks, eyes widening. “They are in danger as well?”
Temari nods. The woman doesn’t need her to say another word. She wraps an arm around Temari’s waist and uses her powerful legs to shove them through the water.
They break the surface with enough force to throw them high into the air. So high, they turn in a wide arc, and below them, Temari can see the sailors and the pirates look up to see why water is dropping from the sky.
The woman holds her, whooping as they fall through the sky. They land on the hard wood of the ship like they are landing on a pillow, and Temari chokes at the unbelievability of it all.
“Your name?”
The woman is already drawing a knife from her belt, the barbs on her back lifting in anticipation of attack. She puts the knife in Temari’s hands, and Temari twirls it without a second thought. It’s a dagger and the weight is odd, the coral its made of scraping her palm, but she holds it well.
“Temari,” she answers. “Firstborn of Karura, and princess of the desertlands of Suna.”
The woman lets out a laugh like ringing bells and the promise of bloodshed. No one approaches them before it, but as soon as the sound leaves her throat, Sasori’s men snap their attention to her.
“A princess,” she coos. “How lucky of me. I’m Tenten of the Konohagakure Ocean. You fell into my territory.”
“My apologies,” Temari replies.
A strange tickling at her throat makes her dart a hand up to it. The gils on it are disappearing, fluttering back against her skin and melting into smooth skin.
“Don’t bother with them,” Tenten says. “I got a wife out of it.”
Temari has exactly zero time to wrap her mind around that before Tenten, in only that sarong and wielding a spear that was definitely smaller a couple of seconds ago, impales one of the pirates that has been dancing around her, looking lovestruck and stupid.
She takes a half second to calibrate before she dives into the fray as well, wondering exactly how she’s going to explain to her brothers that she’s married to a mermaid.

tematen + sparring for the request thing
ok not quiiiite a rarepair…… buuuut yall know I can neverresist some good ol’ wlw!
(requests closed for now)
—
The heavy grunt she made when she hit the ground waspainful-sounding, but Tenten didn’t have enough time to worry before heropponent was pushing herself up just enough to fling a shuriken in herdirection.
She easily deflected it, charging to close the distancebetween them – Temari was dangerous at any range, but her most devastatingattacks weren’t built for close-combat.
Already managing to whip out one of her small hand fans,Temari sent a wind jutsu flying, she ducked quickly, but still felt it whipagainst her hair, forcefully tugging one bun out of its tight hold, the painhissing at her scalp.
Not enough to make her stop though; with a few long strides, she stepped up close to her partner, taking control of her fan with one handand using her momentum to propel her fist towards Temari’s stomach. A sharpknee blocked before it could reach, the ache already blooming across herknuckles, but she knew she wouldn’t be the only one feeling it once theadrenaline wore off.
Quickly throwing the fan away before she could regain it,Tenten backed away just enough to swing her leg high, aiming for blonde spikes,Temari’s rough hand caught her ankle, locked it under her armpit and then she spun, forcing her to either follow themovement, or risk a dislocation.
She hit the ground, hard, getting a nice faceful of dirt andgrass, air leaving her chest in a rush as Temari slammed down on top of her, ankle still trapped and a tight grip on the back of her neck.
“Ready to give up yet?” Temari crooned, voice breathy andsly and exhilarated.
Tenten ignored the warmth settling deep in her belly, focused instead on the pain and sharpness of the air around her. She closed hereyes, took as deep a breath as she could with the weight on her back and dugher arm deep into the ground.
Her ninjutsu had always been a little rough, but that waswhy she rarely used them in battle – which was why Temari had no time toprepare when the soil suddenly launched up around them.
She immediately leapt away, dodging the earthen snakes thatchased after her, until he could properly hit them with strong kicks andpunches. The jutsu was weak, so they offered little resistance, but they kepther distracted just long enough for Tenten to pull out a scroll and swipe herbleeding knuckles across its surface.
The sharp curse was almost completely drowned out by thebarrage of weapons thudding into the ground, dirt flying at the point of eachimpact.
Squinting into the cloud of dust, Tenten waited.
Nothing, no movement, no, no, no no no, that was wrong, there was no way Temari would’ve beentaken down that easy, she was way too tough for tha-
Suddenly, the dust hanging in the air exploded upward, afine stream of it barrelling high into the sky; by the time she’d reached itsend, her opponent was falling back down towards her, arms raised above herhead, a small paper fan clutched in her grip.
Tenten rolled forwards just as a great rush of slicing aircrashed down where she had just been, stray blades of wind cutting into herflesh as she ran.
Temari landed with a heavy thud before her, not giving hertime to react as she launched herself into her midsection, broad shoulderthudding into her painfully. She countered as best she could, digging her feetinto the soft earth and wrapping herself around the bigger girl’s back untilshe was practically lying on top of her.
Finally, Temari collapsed under her weight, though shedidn’t stay down for long before she started struggling to free herself.
Panting heavily, Tenten adjusted her grip, pressing downharder, wishing she could push her long, horrendously tangled hair out of herface, or at least untie the other bun so she didn’t feel quite so lopsided, butnot daring to loosen her grip for a second. “So… when’re you… gonna…surrender?”
Damn, she really wished she could sound as cool and composedas Temari did when she teased.
There was an indistinct grumbling from beneath her, before ahand uncurled itself from her back and fingers clicked three times insuccession.
Grinning widely, Tenten carefully lifted herself off hersparring partner, failing to not snort when Temari quickly rolled to lie on herback, sucking in deep breaths and glaring up at her from a dirt-smudged face.
She shuffled slightly back, but stayed leaning over her, staring into each other’s upside-down eyes.
“That,” Temari said, slowly, still panting, “was awesome.”
Laughter bubbled out of her throat as she dropped to closethe short distance between their lips, meaning to press a light peck on hergirlfriend, but ending up completely missing the mark and kissing her chininstead.
Temari cackled loudly as she quickly sat back up and triedto hide her reddening cheeks behind a hand.
She glared at the blonde practically rolling on the dirt. “Hey,upside-down kissing is hard ok!”
A hand grasped the loose section of her hair, the laughterwas still in Temari’s voice, even as she said, “Come back here, have oursparring matches taught you nothing?” Slowly, gently, she was tugged back down, mischief dancing in teal eyes. “We’ll never improve if we don’t practise.”

can i get some tematen or sakuino headcannons?
TemaTen headcanon
Apology
Tenten wasn't exactly mad at Temari for giving it her all during the chunin exams, so it came to a surprise when temari still apologized for it
Nonetheless, Tenten was pretty excited and more than happy to accept Temari as a new ally, and also, a "meeting" with a pretty girl hardly seemed like a bad idea
SakuIno Headcanon
Red threads
Ino gave Sakura a red ribbon on purpose when she was trying to get the girl to stop hiding her forehead
Sakura didn't exactly catch on as to why it was red, and it wasn't until they started dating that Sakura caught on that Ino was calling her her soulmate since children
Hope those work for you! 😁
Its hard to make headcanons out of nothing unless given a subject tbh, sorry 😅
