lose my mind every time the doctor takes rose's last name in fics. brilliant, amazing, splendid, absolutely perfect.

like, what do you MEAN she'd be the one to change her last name? he doesn't even HAVE a bloody name like us! plus, she's rose tyler. you think he's going to want that to be different? it's the doctor and rose tyler in the tardis (or I suppose whatever they do in pete's world, but that's still the doctor and rose tyler having their new adventure)!!

i believe that shipping tentoo/rose and recognizing that the way it happened was fucked on the doctor's end and traumatic on the end of rose herself can coexist. saying both of these things do not contradict each other.

i can say that the metacrisis is still the doctor and say that rose was right at first to say "he's not you," because of the context rose has in the moment and the work rose had put into finding the doctor that she conceptualized as the doctor.

i can also say that he tried to manipulate her into choosing the metacrisis because that is what he believed was best for her, even though i can also say she did choose to kiss the metacrisis in her own right.

and finally, i can say, that it was fucked up he left her in norway, solely because, bro, that's a long way away from where they need to go lol.

Long post but I feel like a recurring theme in s1 is how Rose is representative of humanity itself

You’ve got the set up in episode 1 of her home/family/Earth life, her convo with Cassandra about how she’s actually the last human, the good empathetic side of her desperate to help Gwyneth, the domestics in the Slitheen episodes, the ESSAYS you can write on how the Dalek said her touch gave it life (hello Bad Wolf parallel! and not to mention the parallel between this and the Dalek Sec two-parter...), the difference between who she is as a companion vs Adam (honestly the parallel between Adam and Cassandra here too   👀 ), the very human selfish quality she shows in saving her dad

and then to have s2 take a deep dive into how attached the Doctor is to her, how he imprinted really, the I BELIEVE IN HER of it all...makes s3/s4 so powerful when you realize he didn’t just lose her but his "humanity” as well

He’s described as alien in s3 and s4 so often and it’s yet another reason as to why I really love the RTD era so much, it’s like every episode after Rose is hitting you over the head with the message that Doctor=alien when he’s yearning so much to be human aka with Rose

Donna immediately referring to him as Spaceman/a Martian, the emphasis in his first episode with Martha as to how he’s not human, how the Doctor is a puzzle for both Martha and Shakespeare, the reminder from Martha again in Gridlock that he’s a Time Lord, Tallulah and Martha’s convo about how he’s different plus Martha asking him if he’s some sort of Dalek (this parallel vs Nine pointing the gun at Rose 😭), the entire conversation with Lazarus about immortality, the Human Nature two-parter is very overt about this with the way the Doctor is described to John Smith by Latimer/Martha and to Joan by Martha, the entire s3 finale hinges on this alienness/being a Time Lord, 

his speech to the passengers in “Voyage of the Damned”, the “burden of a Time Lord” in Pompeii plus the soothsayer naming him as a Lord of Time/son of Gallifrey, Rattigan and the Sontaran talking about the Doctor being an alien, his entire speech to Jenny about what it is to be a Time Lord, how it’s his alienness that pushes the passengers towards suspicion of him in “Midnight”

It’s just like a never ending stream of labeling the Doctor as an alien, a Time Lord, an “other” and to have it come around in the end so beautifully with “I'm part human. Specifically, the aging part. I'll grow old and never regenerate. I've only got one life, Rose Tyler. I could spend it with you, if you want.”

the idea that tentoorose is “tenrose only” is actually insane. if it wasn’t for ninerose, tenrose wouldn’t have the impact it had, and neither would journey’s end. part of the beauty of the ending we got is that someone as lonely and broken as the ninth doctor ends up so incredibly happy. this man, who lost his people and his planet and survived a horrible, horrible war, learnt to love again.

This is my messy attempt to offer some clarification regarding this war between NineRose and TenRose, which is causing some strangeness and confusion, especially among Doctor/Rose shippers.

It isn’t weird how all of these people feel comfortable labeling themselves as NineRose enjoyers whilst they blatantly, simultaneously bash TenRose/TentooRose? Even when they show all their true colors and aim the animosity towards Rose, they claim to love NineRose in the end of the day.

Why do these self-titled Rose/TenRose/TentooRose haters feel so comfortable within NineRose fandom, though? It’s almost like they don’t even consider you guys to be Rose fans as well. I wonder why.

Also, another thing I have noticed it’s that the “same ship” discourse is only ever aimed at TenRose stans, only brought up to guilty-trip people who have a clear preference for TenRose and/or TentooRose into loving/supporting NineRose just as equally. Because they are the same, or so you say. But it is seemingly fine for the people who have a preference for NineRose to say shit about TenRose/TentooRose, even claim to be haters... And none of you will bat an eye. The double standard of it all.

I’m not trying to generalize all NineRose fans, nor am I trying to give the fandom a bad name, I ship NineRose myself, but I am not going to pretend that I don’t see a bunch of you guys daily interacting and engaging with blatant anti TenRose/TentooRose content. And finding excuses to dismiss people’s frustrations and criticisms on the nasty, misogynistic remarks of these self-titled NineRose enjoyers towards Rose and her relationship with Ten and Tentoo.

TenRose/TentooRose fans aren’t the ones who initiate and instigate these wars and they’re definitely not the ones who separate NineRose from TenRose/TentooRose. As you can see, NineRose fans are the ones who do that themselves. If anything, TenRose/TentooRose fans have been just trying to make you all see the picture, yet they have been ignored each time because you don’t want to hold your fandom’s actions accountable. Not to say TenRose/TentooRose fans are saints, but they were actually right all along.

I have to say that after taking a look at the Doctor Who fandom, I am quite shocked at this insistence of some people in wanting to absolutely specify that Tentoo is in fact a clone of the Doctor ?!

We have seen clones in this series and clearly Tentoo is not one of them. So, what is this insistence on contradicting the canon ? Tentoo is simply the doctor.

Our doctor himself doesn't even seem to dissociate himself from Tentoo ! He recognizes it as him.

That's all. It comes from the regeneration energy itself and from the hand of our doctor. It's not a clone ! Having already seen them in this universe should tell you this simple fact.

In the words of David Tenant : "It's the same guy." Yes, I know he also says "But clearly he's not.", but that's probably in the sense that he's no longer our doctor. Same guy, but separated after the regeneration in different bodies, including one human, which offers them different opportunities. Once again, the only notable difference is that he's human, influencing his decisions after regeneration. Even if the regeneration itself naturally involves some minimal changes at Tentoo : The fact of being a little more like Nine, logical, since regenerated in the middle of the war after being shot and dying. Plus a few expressions from Donna, as he always takes from his companions after regeneration. But apart from a few minor changes, he remains the doctor. He is the Tenth Doctor who evolved in another direction after the regeneration that made him human. As simple as that. I mean... Have you seen how David Tennant plays him ? He doesn't play a new doctor with a new personality. No. He simply plays his character, as he always has.

I can't understand people who accept the very essential concept of Doctor Who as that what makes the Doctor are his memories and experiences (the very essence of an individual according to the universe itself), and not his body or his personality ! By the fact what makes Tentoo less of a doctor than everyone else outside of the first Ten ?!

Yes. This situation is sad for our doctor, the first ten, who will be forced to move on in relation to Rose. (His final moments of just him with Rose being their reunion hug, when they briefly teasingly discuss Rose building the canon to come back, and when they hold hands facing Davros.) But it's a scenario that makes sense with the writing of the series. It was that or Rose ends up unhappy, or worse, dies. It's the ultimate way to have a happy ending despite the inevitable tragedy for Rose and the Doctor's relationship. We have the right to a tragic and happy ending at the same time. Can you imagine how crazy and unique this is in Doctor Who ?!

And beyond that, I don't see why Tentoo should be denied. He is a living being who remains the same man with the same desires. Except that he can achieve them unlike his counterpart. Again, it's tragic, but it's also happy. Somehow, even if Ten had to die/regenerate to evolve and mourn who he was, a version of himself, in a parallel universe, was able to survive and obtain everything he always wanted. It is particularly moving. Whether directly or symbolically, especially in the context of the romance with Rose. It is literally his love for Rose, and his desire to be human, which also came from Rose when she renewed her love for the human race, that he prevented regeneration and caused by an incredible chance his biological metacrisis ! But I won't go into it because others have done it much better than me. The only thing I will say about it in this post is that it is objectively one of the best romances ever written. (Let's forget the episode with Madame de Pompadour...)

i think half of my beef with journey's end and the ten tentoo rose ending thing was also the way rose described in the big finish audios how she didn't feel like she belonged in pete's world, that she was out of place and didn't feel like herself. so while i don't hate tentoorose, i do hate that the doctor didn't take any of that into consideration with her and just had to use her to solve the problem that was the metacrisis.
