Thinking about how the main character of Conclave is a man with doubts who is not enjoying himself and his name is Thomas Lawrence which in terms of saints translates to Man With Doubt Being Roasted Alive. It’s so on the nose and I absolutely love it and wouldn’t change it for the world.

Your mileage may vary but something that I have found really helpful is just. Picking a book and reading it all the way through. The Bible is a library and it’s okay to treat it that way! When I was a kid the first books I read on my own were Esther and Ruth because 1. Short 2. Linear plot and 3. About women. One year for Lent as an adult I decided to read the gospels all the way through in an edition that had very little commentary so I wouldn’t get distracted by footnotes and could just go look stuff up later.
Find a reliable translation in your preferred language. I read the Bible in English and for single volume/translation by committee I recommend the New Revised Standard Version. For individual translators, I go with Robert Alter for the Tanakh and David Bentley Hart for the New Testament. Some of Alter’s translations (which include very good commentary) are available as single volumes (Genesis, Samuel/part of Kings, etc).
For introductory books that talk about reading the Bible/Bible study, I recommend Inspired by Rachel Held Evans and What Is the Bible by Rob Bell. The Bible for Normal People commentaries are short, accessible, and by well regarded scholars so I would recommend those as well.

short answer: not really, i am so sorry. i have not found anything i would publicly recommend. there has always been some really heavy drawbacks that make me not want to back them.
the only thing (method-ish) i would recommend for Gospel readings wholeheartedly is the podcast Imagine: A Guide to Jesuit Prayer . however, it IS a contemplation podcast. not a bible study.
long answer: hmmmmm… my buddy El really recommends the The New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSV-CE) but i do not own it, i pretty much only read the bible in Spanish (REINA-VALERA‼️🔥) but the NRSV is a very good, recent and accurate translation 👍 or so i’ve heard…
in regards to Bible studies… i’ve taken so many Bible study/Theology online courses and they have all SUCKED 👎 i don’t have many (if any) recs on that end.
many (many) people would recommend “Bible in a Year” with Fr. Mike Schmitz, however! i cannot stand him (respectfully) i am SO sorry…
this America article has some really good points on how to approach Catholic bible studies and has some recommendations.
i must finally add that i will be checking out the Agustine Institute’s podcast on the Bible/Bible in a Year because i’ve really enjoyed the experience of the “Amen” app. but i’ll have to give it a shot first.
i’m sorry this was SO unhelpful. i’m sure some people on here might have some actual suggestions and recommendations. pls add them. pls….. for the sake of us all…..

strangelove and the boss make me fucking SICK honestly. in a good way. they're so fucking great
