It's even more remarkable when they are close enough that Don can see that not only Miller has showered and changed into fresh clothes for the occasion like the day before, but Snake did that too, his thick mop of shaggy hair wet and slicked back. Maybe it’s a coincidence – maybe the man has a hard rule that he only showers on Mondays – but Don’s gut feeling is that this is part of that underground bargaining those two have going on all the time. If that is the case, he is grateful that Miller’s persuasion skills extend to personal grooming.

Miller saunters towards him with all the confidence of someone high-ranking enough to allow himself familiarity. Or maybe they're simply friends, different as they look. “Congratulations on the mission, Boss,” he smiles, patting Snake on the shoulder. The other man returns the gesture, though seemingly more forcefully. His hands are huge, the forearms hairy. “Business as usual,” he says, in a low raspy tone. “Speaking of business. This is Don, the ad man from New York. I told you he would come.” Don takes this as his cue to get on stage and act in a play he's seen and performed a thousand times, except that now he is both the one making the pitch and the client to be wooed. He walks up to Snake, hand outstretched. “Don Draper, from McCann & Erickson. I'm told you need an advertising campaign.” Snake looks at Don's hand for a split second as if this basic social vocabulary was foreign to him, then he remembers and shakes it. Unsurprisingly, he has an iron grip. “Nice to meet you, Don. We'll see about who needs what.”

Vquiet is such a sweet ship and with how many time i’ve seen men reducing quiet to just a sexual object while ignoring their genuine connection seeing them have a more gentle approach to sex healed me a bit

well anon, you're preaching to the choir here, I can't help but see their relationship as very intense but also gentle, like fuck the mission these two yearn and care for each other against their better judgment since day one... I also might or might not have over 20k words of low stakes au fic about them marinating in my drafts, just to give you an idea how much of my mental real estate is taken up by them being sweet to each other. Even when they uuuhhh get intensely physical

I don't really fw the bro side of mgs fandom because I value my mental health lol, but I also think that an unpleasant truth is that a lot of it is baked into the source material. I love metal gear, it has literally taken over my life this year, but I'm too old and jaded not to acknowledge that it isn't the best franchise for female characters, and the vast majority of them is designed to be sexualized with a straight male audience in mind. And yes, some male characters get sexualized in canon too (the Snakes especially), but I'm not going to pretend it's an even playing field, and that's a problem that stems directly from the games themselves I think. This said the bro side of fandom is always at the scene of the crime

Solid Snake has faced many scary things in his life, but making plans for the future might be the scariest of them all. Though giving his adoptive daughter "the talk" is surely a contender.

You might have noticed this is not an art post, and also that I skipped a few days of the challenge -- unfortunately life got in the way (raging, multiple-day migraine plus work) , but this is also the place where I posted all my other prompt fills, so have this humble fic offering for the Jupiter Family prompt.
