"Should we kiss to break the tension?"

"You look tense."

"I thought you couldn't see." Jamil retaliated, his eyes moving to watch Damali's playful smile disappear and form a pout. He smirked victorious.

"I don't need to be able to see to know you're tense, Jamil. You've been sighing a lot, you know?" She explained, playing with the string attached to her walking stick. "Is it because of Najma-san?"

Jamil groaned as he looked at his sister casually talking to Malleus as if he wasn't the terrifying crown prince of Briar Valley. Sometimes his little sister made his blood boil, I mean, who does that?

"She's only a part of it. I'm still irritated Kalim let Malleus come with us. If something happens to him all of us are screwed, me specifically." He explained, a hand going to his head, but he was careful not to mess with the placement of his headscarf. Damali's hands suddenly found a way to his shoulder, and he flinched and snacked her hands away almost immediately. "What the heck?"

"What? I'm just trying to help." She laughs, and Jamil wasn't sure if she really meant it or not. He never knew when Damali was simply joking or being serious. It's part of the reason why he never let himself dwell on his feelings for her too much... Not that he has any of course. Nope. She's just a coworker. "Your shoulders are way too stiff, dear."

"It's fine, I can handle it. It's just for a day, anyway."

"You say that but tomorrow you'll start worrying about something else, and then you'll do the same the next day, and the other..." Her tone seemed almost innocent, she spoke as if she was singing, and Jamil noticed how she walked closer to him with each word, until stopping right in front of him. Still, he stood his ground, not willing to let her win in this situation. "Maybe... And here's a fun suggestion..."

"Which I believe I'm not gonna like, as usual." He said as he rolled his eyes and Damali laughed, her hand lightly touching his chest.

"Should we kiss to break the tension?"

And there you go, that's Damali for you, treating everything as a simple joke just to mock him and make him miserable and for what? Because 'his reactions were funny', or so she said. This time, however, Jamil seemed to consider; he was truly getting sick of Damali getting the upper hand and mocking him – especially now considering just how beautiful the outfits chosen for her looked, and she knew that very well.

"If I say yes will you stop being so insufferable?" He asked, and Damali was stunned for a moment. He didn't reject her? She chuckled, now that was news. Her hands went behind her back innocently as she kept her teasing smile.

"Who knows. Is it a risk you're willing to take?"

Jamil glanced at the rest of the group, busy finishing up their foods and eyeing a few other items at the bazaar. His hand quickly moved to her waist without a warning, making her gasp in surprise as his lips crashed against hers. She stood there with no reaction, eyes wide, not really believing what was going on at the moment. Once Jamil separated himself, Damali went in for another, her hands grabbing his collar as she let out a happy sound. Yes, she was simply joking before, she was always joking when it came to Jamil but– this felt oddly satisfying to her, it made her heart race, as if she–

She broke the kiss once her mind came to such a realization, a small frown showing on her face as she tried to process what she just learned. Jamil chuckled, happy to know she couldn't really see his face. He separated himself from her and cleared his throat, bringing Damali back to the present moment.

"Thanks. I feel better." He said, yet he felt even more tense, his heart seemingly wanting to jump out of his throat. "So, uh... We better hurry. They'll get worried if we don't catch up to them."

With that, he walked away as Damali still stood in awe for the discovery she just made. Her fingers touched her mouth and she groaned, she lightly slapped her face in annoyance.

"Great, this is just what I needed." She says sarcastically as she groans into her two hands. "How am I going to face him now...? Good job, Damali! Falling for someone when you said you couldn't! Just great..."
