WHew. Just read through the Pegasus trilogy from Anne McCaffrey, and the sheer number of red flags ... this is seriously bad YA, these are not the kind of relationships you want to be normalizing repeatedly between children and the adults in their lives. Or between adult men and women. Or between slightly older and slightly younger children.
And after that level of cringe, I'm seriously thinking about going back once more to C. J. Cherryh. (Even Cyteen is better, and it's bad, but also Cherryh got better through the 90s and 2000s, and I'm not clear that McCaffrey did.)
And returning to my favorite heptalogy of trilogies, the Foreigner series, I'm once again reminded of a couple of worldbuilding problems.
Tea — where is it grown? By whom? Where's the fucking Teamasters' Guild? The level of prestige and specialized knowledge required would ensure tea production a major top-level guild, at the level of and intertwined with the Assassins' Guild, but we never see any such thing. There could easily be local tea growing areas, multiple of them, per great house—and especially historically, there would have to be, because you couldn't trust your neighbors, and when you do, it works great until one of you assassinates one of them, or vice versa. But they would exist in as natural a situation as possible for each—because of kabiu—on the reserve lands, tended season by season, kept in balance, cultivated but only just, and never in massive artificial tea plantations. (Tempted as I am to say "Ann Leckie solved this one," she clearly didn't—she just saw the worldbuilding gap, and filled it for her own universe in ways the atevi would despise.) But Cherryh only gives us a world where tea in huge variety is both an everyday essential and a prestige item, and yet without infrastructure.
Plastics in space — what the actual fuck? How does the purely spacefaring human culture manage to casually extrude, on demand, for an entire space station, durable complex long-chain hydrocarbon polymer materials without the organic petrochemical base that allowed them to be invented in the first place? What do they make plastic from? This is not a culture with a lot of luxury space, and bioplastics would take space from food production—not to mention, they were able to extrude plastics at Alpha, on their return, without any growing anything. Plus, bioplastics are way more prone to degradation (a plus from an ecological perspective, but not for space habitat durability) compared to thermoplastics. Are they mining carbon chondrite asteroids, not just for the metals but also for the proto-organics? Creating their own hydrocarbons literally from hydrogen and carbon, maybe boosting them with silicates? As with the tea, there's a lot of infrastructure that has to exist, and resources it has to take up, and people who have to be specialized to do it, and none of that exists in the texts.

Any cool pokemon facts? I like facts!!
One super amazing Pokemon trivia fact coming right up!
Okay so fun fact: Sinistea and Polchageist are not at all biologically related! As far a genus, Sinisteas are actually closer related to Bannette than Polchageist! Sinisteas are manifestation of the feeling of lonliness, in the form of a cold, forgotten cup of tea, like how Bennettes are the manifestation of abandonment in the form of a lost stuffed animal. Polchageists, however, are often the spirits of old teamasters. And yet, despite them not being related by genus, they both have phony and authentic forms! Researchers think this is because they've learned survival patterns from each other, since they cohabitate similar regions. Also? It's very funny to me that Sinistea evolves into Polteageist, but Polchageist evolves into Sinistcha. The opposite names!

Hi! Have you watched hotel swan helsinki? It doesn't have good reviews at all, but Lauri looks so hot in it. I wondered if you had seen it. Still, it's not available online outside Finland.
Hi! :) Yes, I have watched it (more often than I would like to admit). I understand why it might not be everyone's piece of cake, but I love it. All the actors do a great job in it, but Lauri is my absolute favorite. It's been agonizing to wait for the third season, since the last one ended in quite a huge cliffhanger. Hopefully it will be watchable elsewhere someday as well.
The other show that has Lauri in it that I would recommend is Syke (The Heartbeat/Pulse), but it too is unfortunately only available in Finland for now. :( He looks absolutely adorable in glasses during the first two seasons and his character is great as well. He is also a side character in Nymfit (Nymphs), that sadly got only one season. It is watchable in SF Anytime and Telia Play, but I don't own accounts to them or know if they are usable outside of Finland.
My favorite movies that he's in are "Veden Vartija" (The Guardian Of The Water) that is based on the book "Teemestarin Kirja" (The Book Of The Teamaster) by Emmi Itäranta and Kätilö (The Midwife) that is based on the book of Katja Kettu. The first one hasn't gotten good reviews, but it has a special place in my heart. From what I remember, it has at least some point been available in Apple TV, Prime Video, and Blockbuster. Kätilö can be seen from Apple TV, Netflix, Blockbuster, Viaplay, HBO MAX and Prime Video.
Sorry that your ask turned into such a commercial! :D I just love that he's gotten to do so different kinds of roles and think that more people should know about them. Still looking forward the continuation of Karppi/Deadwind, though. :)

Are sports stadiums a good idea, all signs point to NO!!

The processing of handmade tea requires great skill and precision. Tea artisans carefully monitor the temperature and humidity levels to ensure that the leaves are processed just right. They roll and shape the leaves by hand, allowing them to release their natural oils and flavors. This hands-on approach to processing tea is what sets handmade tea apart from mass-produced tea, as it allows for greater control over the final product.

During tea season, we spend a lot time just waiting on tea. It might seem like a lot inaction but we have to keep all of our senses heightened to detect any chances in the aroma, the color, feeling of tea leaves in our hands, the sound of the tea leaves beating the barrel, etc. We don’t go to bed till after 3:30am, and we get up at 6:30am again for the next step. #makingtea #teamaster #teamaker #dancong #oolongtea (at Tea Drunk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD9z13mF3x9/?igshid=e9s5h2tlgtmi

eye: yes, an excuse to have a little snack is another positive quality of tea that I'm discovering 😊
dev: funny now that you mention it I have had barley tea before a long time ago, because
actually wait I played this process through in my head and it is a way too long tangent that begins "so years ago when I randomly generated a name for my ffxiv character..." that eventually leads to the present day and then presumably continues through various domino falls until I retire as a gongfu teamaster in my mansion in the mountains or something
anyway yeah that sounds good, and easy to do in my workplace mini fridge if need be lol
been trying to learn how to enjoy tea lately, which has meant I'm trying various ones with the possibility that I might not like the taste. One good thing about tea is that if it tastes bad you can just add lemonade or some other delicious drink. this replaces bad taste with good taste. but the key thing, and this is the true versatility that I admire, is that in a pinch you could also use water, which reduces the bad taste simply by increasing the proportion of no taste

The main process that differentiates the types of teas is oxidation. This process causes a color and character change in the leaves. A tea master will use aroma to determine if their tea has oxidized to its ideal level. #tea #leaves #processing #aroma #quality #test #teamaster #experience #gongfucha #skill #qualitycontrol https://www.instagram.com/p/BxkdB6Tg532/?igshid=1bux6c3ippcrx
