𝔐𝔞𝔠𝔥𝔦𝔫𝔢 𝔐𝔢𝔪𝔬𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔰- 𝔇𝔞𝔶 2: 𝔗𝔢𝔞
Summary:
Henry introduces Boris, Allison, and Tom to tea.

Rating: G/PG
<- Previous Part Next Part ->
Henry scanned over the instructions with a finger, gently tapping his foot to the soft jazz emanating from the phonograph in the corner of the bunker.
To his left sat Boris, Tom, and Allison. The trio were engaged in a round of Go Fish. Allison was calm and calculating, Tom looked ready to slice the table in half, and Boris just looked pleased to have someone other than Henry to play games with.
Henry reached over to fetch a jug of water. Audrey had offered to bring them some provisions from outside the machine; every day their store was growing larger and larger. He hated Audrey spending her hard-earned money on luxuries for them, but the young woman seemed unwavering in her generosity.
Today’s special edition to their kitchen were the ingredients to make a few steaming cups of teas. Henry poured half of the jug into the pot and turned on the stovetop. It would be nice to drink something other than ink. What would it taste like?
Once the water began to bubble, Henry pulled out some freshly washed lavender buds. Next, he grabbed a tea ball and placed the flora inside. Now, all he had to do was let it steep for 10 minutes.
A bang caused him to jump and turn his head towards the table. Boris had his cards deposited on the table, showing a few clusters of four matching cards. Tom had his mechanical fist on the table, ears drawn back in annoyance.
Allison had a smirk creeping up at the corners of her lips. “Well done, Boris. That’s your third win in a row,” She congratulated, setting a comforting hand on Tom’s shoulder.
Boris’s ears were perked. If he had a tail, Henry was certain it would be wagging right about now.
Henry chuckled as he stirred the pot with a ladle. “Boris understands these games like the back of his hand. It’s rare to get a defeat out of him.”
”I haven’t had time to brush up on my skills,” Allison replied as she began scrounging up the cards and shuffling them. “One more round?”
Boris nodded adamantly. Tom was still scowling as he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.
"Oh, come on, Tom. Just a few more rounds?" Allison pleaded. Tom took one look at her beseeching smile and gave a curt nod of acceptance.
Allison shot a swift glance over at Henry. "Want me to deal you in?"
"Maybe next round. The tea will take a little longer," Henry answered. An enticing aroma wafted from the pot. He'd never smelled something so pleasant like that before-- and if he had, it was nothing but a distant memory of someone he wasn't.
One round down and another victory for Boris. Henry cut the stove off and reached for the cupboards to fetch four teacups. Once he poured the steaming cups, next was a dollop of honey— per Audrey’s advisement.
“That smells amazing,” Allison complimented as Henry set the drinks down on the table and took a seat next to Boris.
Tom eyed the steaming cup and blocked Allison from taking hers.
The Angel gave the wolf a gentle smile and set a hand on his. “It’s not dangerous, Tom. We both know Audrey or Henry wouldn’t give us something unfavorable.”
Henry brought his cup to his lips and tried his best to ignore Tom’s hostile glare. Of course he didn’t put anything in the tea, but he knew saying so wouldn’t ease the wolf’s suspicions.
The herbal tea hit his tongue, sending a foreign feeling racing through his body. It was a shining beacon in comparison to bacon soup or anything else in the studio; most likely due to its lack of ink.
Allison had taken a sip as well, eyes widening. She put a hand to her chest. “Oh, wow. That’s real tea?”
Tom perked his ears and reluctantly snatched up his cup. After one swig, the wolf glanced around and began downing the cup in sizable gulps.
Henry and Allison smiled at one another. Boris coughed. Everyone turned their heads to find the wolf holding out the cup of tea at arm's length, his tongue sticking out and snout wrinkled.
Henry chuckled and took another sip. Already the drink felt like it had relaxed his muscles and eased his mind. What kind of magic did Audrey put in this?
Boris set down his cup with visible disdain and flattened his ears.
“Not a fan, Boris?” Henry inquired in amusement. “That’s alright. We have other options. One is sure to pique your interest.”

The processing of handmade tea requires great skill and precision. Tea artisans carefully monitor the temperature and humidity levels to ensure that the leaves are processed just right. They roll and shape the leaves by hand, allowing them to release their natural oils and flavors. This hands-on approach to processing tea is what sets handmade tea apart from mass-produced tea, as it allows for greater control over the final product.

I was having dinner with my best friends from high school the other day and overheard one of my friends telling my friend's girlfriend about his tea making hobby and ngl this might just be the hobby I've been looking for.
Making art and music is technically a hobby of mine but it's at the intersection of hobby and work as it is my passion, but also because of that doesn't feel like an "unwind hobby" at times because I take it very seriously, even my "unserious" projects.
The Mega Man Battle Network memes are definitely an "unwind" hobby that I can do, but would require me to get meme ideas in the first place.
Making my own tea would be neat, though! Ever since I quit coffee, I've gotten more into drinking tea, I legit stocked up on tea before I left Berlin because of blends and flavours they only have in Germany. But I'm definitely curious to learn and the tips and tricks to making tea like people do with coffee! I was even jokingly thinking of releasing themed tea blends along with my music as merch but that would be an idea for a later stage lol

I asked my friends how long it takes for me to make tea
One friend immediately guessed 30 (close)
Then 15
Then 45
Another friend guessed 28 (the correct answer)
I asked them why they immediately went for higher numbers
"Cause ur a dumbass"

How to upgrade your morning cup of tea
How to upgrade your morning cup of tea
Think you’re tasting everything your cup of tea has to offer? Probably not. Brewing time, water temperature and tea-to-water ratios can completely change the game (source). Get them wrong and even the best tea will taste, well, off. Here’s what you need to know:   Black tea likes it hot – 95-100°C hot – to really bring out that rich, malty depth. Boiling water will make green tea bitter; aim for…
