Lil Prague Tea Bloggin:
Almost completely forgot the last update! Last tearoom we visited was One Poem tearoom! The sitting space there was very comfy and the music was amazing. I think we wanted to relax after a lot of walking and this place was perfect for it. Our last tea experience in Prague ended with two teas a Dark Oolong and a Shu Puerh

Despite the high tein intake from these teas, we almost fell asleep cause of the comfy athmosphere in this place!

I've been seeing the Peggy Porschen café on the net for years, so I had to visit it during my stay in London !
The front of the shop was being renovated, so I would have loved to see it completely decorated with flowers !
Anyway, I'm still glad I stopped in and had my snack there. We almost didn't get a seat, the place was so small, so if you want to go there, make sure you book a bit in advance !
We had breakfast tea, an iced latte and a strawberry champagne cupcake. A little too sweet, but excellent ! 🍰🫖

March 17, 2024:
I'm really on the fence because technically this is a complete heist... but it also ends on a weird cliffhanger in the middle of the consequences right after a huge reveal. So it's really not resolved and I find that kind of sequel bait really, really annoying. There's a difference, a fine one, between 'wanting more' and 'dissatisfied.'
However! I see this as a great thrill for its intended audience. There are secrets and reveals, there is a strong anti-colonialist overtone, and all the characters are just... so, so horny.
I liked the found family brother-sister relationship (non-horny) between the main characters, I liked the internal struggle of the rich girl trying to decide where she belongs. I liked the rules for vampires: how they're created, what their weaknesses are, how they're treated by society at large. The vampire rules here resemble those of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, which I consider the standard and a return to my roots as a reader of Vampire Shit.
I did not like that most of the male characters were kind of the same; pissy, flirtatious asshole is too powerful an archetype to be overused like this. Three pissy, flirtatious assholes is far too many, even if their pissiness, flirtation, and assholery are pointed in different directions.

Tullynally Castle

Tullynally Castle is located in County Westmeath in Ireland. In Norman times, this land was owned by the FitzSimons, but Henry Pakenham, a Parliamentary Dragoon, bought the estate and built a square plantation house on the property. In 1740, Henry’s grandson Thomas married heiress, Elizabeth Cuffe, the great niece of the last Earl of Langford. The Langford title was recreated for Thomas and the house was enlarged with another story. In 1803, the 2nd Earl of Langford wanted to turn the country estate into a gothic castle. To reach this end, he had towers and a row of battlements built. In 1820, he had more gothic improvements added, which included an octagonal dining room, and a Great Hall with such great acoustics that it’s still used for music today. The 2nd earl also added the first central heating system in a private house in Ireland. Thomas’ son Edward, the 3rd earl, doubled the size of the castle in 1840 by adding two castellated wings. One of the wings held servants’ quarters with a Victorian kitchen and a state of the art three-roomed laundry. The current owner, the 6th earl, also another Thomas, inherited the estate in 1961. As a passionate gardener, Thomas brought seeds to the estate from his world travels. Most of his plantings can be seen on the Forrest Walk, while his wife Valerie does most of the gardening on the walled gardens. The castle boasts over 120 rooms. The estate has 12 acres of gardens: a Chinese Garden with a pagoda, a Tibetan Garden of waterfalls and streams, a limestone grotto, terraced lawns, and two ornamental lakes. The Castle Gardens are open to the public and tours of the castle are done by appointment.
