I like it! But I don’t feel like Natsu would get jealous of celestial spirits. He’d be PUMPED that Lucy had a dragon at beck and call though! He LOVES it!

Let me tell you someone who gets insanely jealous though: Loke. Ooooh he’s so mad. He and the dragon spirit are complete rivals. Both call Lucy “my wife”. It’s basically Jet and Droy fighting over Levy while Levy is looking at Gajeel.

Levy Headcanons:

She's just as destructive as the rest of fairy tail. She's smart enough to get away with it tho

She has never been wrong about anything in her life. And if you disagree she will fight you

She’s a really good listener and gives great advice. People come to her a lot when they have issues

Her parents were professors. She doesn’t remember what happened to them but she remembers her house being filled to the brim with books

Everyone always makes the joke that she must like gardening because of her last name. She hates it and she hates gardening. Droy was heartbroken when he found out

She can hold a grudge better than anyone else. Gajeel is still in trouble for accidentally spilling coffee on a book she was reading months ago

Freed, Lucy and her have an unofficial team that has permission to use almost every guilds library. Including the one in the palace

Wizard saints 2-5 absolutely love her. Makarov nearly had a heart attack when he came into the guild and saw the 4 strongest men in Fiore surrounding Levy, drinking tea and laughing.

Hi! Such a big fan of your htryds series!! I absolutely love your take on shadow gear and gajeel (since most fics I read either leave jet and droy out or they kind of just ‘exist’) Will pantherlily or juvia make an appearance? Do you have a partner in mind for levy when she goes through the s-class trials herself?

Aw, thank you! And yes! Shadow Gear + Gajeel deserve some fair and equal treatment. Honestly, there's a lot of characters that get shoe-horned into this "romance-driven rival" box in FT, where they're the butt of a lot of jokes, and Droy and Jet unfortunately got this treatment. But! It's okay. I got them in my little hands and I am making them person-shaped characters because I love them and I love the idea of them. They deserve to maintain their friendship position and get more friends.

Yes! Juvia and Pantherlily are both coming eventually. If it wasn't obvious, Juvia will get her debut next arc in Runaways, lol. Juvia, like Jet and Droy, definitely deserves some extra character love and you better be believing I am prepared to give it to her. (I miss debut/ToH/BattleofFT Juvia so much.)

I will say with Juvia and Pantherlily both, the AU dictates some changes to the impending dynamics, but I'm still all for that friendship with Gajeel, plus more people, because honestly half of these AU is me looking at characters and thinking "what if they talked to more than two other people" and then running with it.

On that note, yes, I do absolutely know who Levy's partner is going to be for the S-Class trials. :D

Droy and Jet physically holding her back while Levy is clawing the air, eyes glazed over... so real... they're on a job or something and the bad guy mentioned off-handedly something new word magic/book and levy has never finished a job so fast and also scared the bejeezus out of someone faster

JET BEING A WHAT-THE-HECK-WHAT-ARE-YOU-SITTING-ON-WITH-THAT-POSTURE KIND OF PERSON IS PERFECTTTT and tbh he has to be stupidly flexible and stuff too bc of his speed magic, he has to be able to quickly register obstacles and also change his body position just as fast.... jet reflexes are literally insane (staring at my brain version of that night where jet pushes levy and droy to the side quickly enough and they actually get to have a full fledged fight that shows that they're not super fucking weak and then the audience knowing that they tried compared to some outsider that laughs at them because being allegedly so weak just because they lost but whatever I'm rambling) throw anything at that boy and he is catching it, front flipping, and throwing it back at you just as if not faster than original. ... .. yearh..s..

LOL yes yes, here let me give you some brain tissue samples—

To be honest, I don't have much on Shadow Gear in my gray matter? Most of my thoughts on them comes from you or @/grayseyebrowscar, actually! But I have a couple things rattling around in my head, so here they are:

— Levy is feral when it comes to things that interest her, to the point that Jet and Droy have frequently had to restrain her from putting some poor soul into a centrifuge and seeing what filters out just because they wield a rare form of Jutsu-shiki or something like that. If it's weird and magic, or weird and of academic interest, or both, there will be a Levy trying to pounce on it, and a Jet and Droy going "no, don't pounce on that, what if it explodes." Jet and Droy frequently exchange commiserating grimaces with Evergreen and Bickslow when they have to wrangle Levy and Freed on the same hyperfocused rampage.

— I agree that SG are floor people, but to me Jet is also a what-the-heck-are-you-sitting-on-with-that-posture kind of person. If he fits, he sits. This means he sits on the floor, on armrests, on couch backs, on people if they're particularly unfortunate during a guild brawl, in the air of a doorframe, on refrigerators, on the guild hall's entrance sign, in the guild hall's rafters somehow, on the railing of the second floor—and even in normal chairs he sits sideways or spins them around to sit backwards or sprawls or does anything except sit normally. Droy frequently makes comments about the state of his spine because of this.

— I'm also wholly convinced that Jet has some beastman ancestry that influences his bone structure and teeth, and also maybe his eyes because I find it immensely funny to think of a dark guild mage getting scared half to death by shining a light on him and finding a red-pupiled blur (demon??) coming for their soul at speed.

— Droy seems the most normal of SG, but that's because Jet and Levy are subjected to his plant infodumps the most and he gets a lot of his gushing out of the way by the time he has to interact with the rest of the guild. A full half of SG's missions are plant-related because of him, either finding rare plants, or helping annual harvests of magical plants, or getting/safeguarding inconvenient ingredients for pharmaceuticals, or playing security for botanist conferences because he wants to hear some of the sweet, sweet botany discoveries. That, and some of the lectures in those botanist conferences are by him. He has a very robust greenhouse full of weird plants and occasionally Levy will edit his rambling about them into research papers and release them into the wilderness of academia for kicks. Neither of them were at all expecting scientists to track them down and scratch pitifully at their door like cats wailing to be let in. And now Droy gets to ramble annually around like-minded nerds and occasionally get into hair-pulling biting catfights about how to class amaryllis zephyrus, coloquially known as zephyrillis or wind-lily.

— Speaking of scientists tracking them down! SG definitely are roommates with their own house. I feel like they've known each other for a long, long time, before they ever joined Fairy Tail, and they're really comfortable around each other. Their smoothness in combat is borne from knowing each other since early childhood, growing up learning each other as much as they learned about themselves. This means they all have the eerie tendency to never bump into each other, in combat or not. It's easy to get in Jet's way if you're not used to how suddenly fast he can be, or accidentally bulldoze over Droy if he stays still too long and you forget he's there, or incidentally get smacked by a gesturing, excited Levy, but that's for other people. Not for them.

any headcanons on levy’s childhood? we have nothing about her in canon 😭

I've got a few! Does anyone know how old Levy was when she joined FT? I feel like she was younger than the others but that might just be because she's tiny

Anyway...

Her parents were both professors at a local university. Both of them were extremely intelligent

Her father specifically was a literature professor and had their entire house covered in books

Levy was really young when her parents died so she doesn't remember much about them or specifics, but she remembers them being very loving

Levy was a child prodigy. By the time she was five she could already speak 3 languages and read at an adult level

Levy looks just like her mother. Like almost exactly her twin. The only difference is that Levy has her fathers eyes

There was an orange tree in front of Levy's home and as a kid she used to climb up and pick the fruit. She fell pretty hard once and broke her arm but that didn't stop her from climbing back up as soon as she was healed

Her parents were both mages but not part of an official guild. They really only used magic when they had to, but they encouraged Levy to join a guild and find her own path

They were big fans of the Fairy Tail Guild and would tell Levy stories about their run ins with its mages (They used to joke that if they had been stronger mages that they would've joined ft)

Levy's mom died from a genetic disease (maybe cancer but Levy just remembers her getting sicker and sicker)

Levy's dad was killed when he helped some mages with a request. He needed the extra money after her moms death, but wasn't physically strong enough to survive the fight

Levy decided after that to find Fairy Tail and would work minor translating jobs to earn money on her journey

She picked up Jet and Droy along the way (the boys had no survival skills and she was their savior) and brought them with her (the trio was inseparable after this)
