And now this is an opportunity to talk about Eureka's living dolls.

There’s a bunch of variants of the playable living doll, each with a lot of overlap but also something that makes them unique. They’re also part of the few paranormal character types that don’t literally eat people, but they aren’t exempt from the themes.

Clockwork living dolls, like pictured above, have to be wound up regularly. For all intents and purposes, this takes the place of eating for them.

They cannot wind themselves up, because then they would just be expending the same energy they’re putting in, so someone else has to do it for them (or they have to find some other work-around), in a world where being made of gears and porcelain isn’t exactly normal or considered to be scientifically possible at all.

@anim-ttrpgs 's Eureka is a tabletop rpg system that allows you to play as a private detective or amateur investigator or poor sod at the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to figure out mystery in a fun and intuitive way with many mechanics to support it ! It's most known now for its capacity to include paranormal character types, including living dolls (80% sure I'm the reason for that), who can't wind themselves up during a mission and therefore need to ask someone to do it for them, which idk about you but it sounds like the beginning of a steamy fan fiction right there.
