Okay since that anon made me put two and two together...

Yang describes Alyx as “lying and cheating” her way through the book.

“Lie, cheat, steal, and survive” is Roman’s motto, which was shortened in Roman Holiday to “Lie, cheat, and survive.”

Roman Holiday is also where we first got Alyx’s name, and the fact that Neo herself is very fond of fairy tales and wants to be like them.

That’s why Neo is in the Ever After. She’s going to be the bad example. She took the wrong lesson from the book and assumed that Alyx’s lying and cheating was what got her everything she wanted and that her changing at the end was a probably some moralistic cop-out to keep little girls from getting ideas. So she’s gonna keep lying and cheating, and it’ll keep working out for her, right up until it doesn’t. Just like it’s always done.

The Ever After allows liars and cheaters, it allows Jinxy after all, but it doesn’t let them leave. So odds are that Neo is going to end up staying here as yet another lesson for travelers. The Hatter at her eternal tea party, forever stuck at 6:00 p.m.
