So, an absolute age back I made a video (that was this year? really?) about playing cards in TTRPGs. As part of that video I created a list of TTRPGs that used playing cards to some degree.

i’ve gotten a lot of messages lately about the last installment of fable and the next tcc and just writing in general and why I’ve been so slow lately and blegh i’ll just say that some people have not been very nice to me on here the past few weeks which coupled with some things in my personal life have really made me feel very down in the dumps. it feels a little bit like there’s no safe space in my real life and none here in this place either, and I told myself at a certain very sad day last week I was just giving up and not going to do anything on here ever again but that would make me incredibly sad too. so I think for now I’m just going to not think about the writing for a little bit and just take some time for myself and away from this space a little bit

i’m not sure if I’ll finish fable or not, and that pains me to say. I can’t even imagine not finishing tcc but I’m not sure when I’ll get to it either. I’m aware writing this now that i could wake up tomorrow inspired and write a whole chapter for something but really i have no idea. But i’ve gotten a lot of questions and i hate not answering or having anything for u guys and I’m really sorry about that. i feel a little silly writing this but i did want to give some sort of explanation to those that have asked

i think it’s important when engaging in fan spaces like these where artists create for the love of creation, to remember we’re just people, and you have no idea what’s happening in my life. when you send me rude things or project your own stuff on to me, you have no idea the effect it might have and what it might make me feel and how I’d rather not publicize such vitriol to thousands of people to witness which leaves me to just swallow it and deal with it on my own rather than give someone cruel a platform for that very cruelty

I’m rlly sorry if anyone’s disappointed or missing the writing, I feel very much like that too, but for now this is what i think feels best for me—just some space. i appreciate everyone who’s always been so nice and supportive and funny here with me and i hope i can come back and let it be normal soon

This is an event where fans can make art, fanfic, playlists, among other things to give to participants, like a digital Secret Santa. Tumblr users who participate are matched up with others based on what gift they want to get and are going to give to someone else.

Who can participate?

Anyone with a tumblr account and a passion for Postal. Excluding TCC.

How does it work?

First you fill out the google form where you answer questions about what kind of gift you would like to receive and what you are willing to make for someone else. After sign-ups are submitted by December 4th, you’ll get a message in your tumblr conversations about who you’re making a gift for and instructions on how to post your gift. Then you have until January 1 to work on making your gift. Once you’re done and it’s the 1st through 4th, tag your recipient and use the hashtag #2024PostalGiftExchange.

What kind of gifts can I make?

Any form of art which can include visual art, fanfic, moodboards, stimboards, collages, etc. You can also make a playlist.

When do I have to post my gift?

It’s ideal that all gifts are posted around the same time which means that all gifts should be posted by the end of December/first week of January.

What if I can’t finish making my gift on time?

Please message me as soon as possible so I tell the recipient that their gift will be posted later than expected. If you can’t finish your gift whatsoever then message me and we’ll figure it out from there.

It’s past the deadline and I haven’t received my gift, what do I do?

I’ll message the other participant and if they don’t answer in a day or two, I’ll make the gift for you.

Head of A Bull

You have never seen the sun. This maze is your prison. Someone has come to kill you. Needed: pen & paper to record STATES/stats and results, d6s, d8s, d10s. You can be in one of 3 STATES, lowest to highest: Starving (d6 Strength, 5 Speed), Satiated (d8 Strength, 4 Speed), Gorged (d10 Strength, 3 Speed). Begin eating the remains of your last victim, Starving. You must eat for 3 cumulative turns to increase your STATE, reset on a STATE change. On a turn begun eating, roll 1d6: on a 3 or higher, you are interrupted by a warrior and must fight for your life. A warrior has d8 Strength, 3 Speed. For each turn fighting a warrior, roll both your and their Strength die. Whichever rolls the lower number reduces their Speed by 1. On a draw, both reduce Speed by 1. If a warrior's Speed falls to 0, you kill them and can begin eating once more. If your Speed falls to 0, reduce your STATE by 1, changing your Strength and Speed accordingly. If you are already Starving and your Speed is reduced to 0, your doom comes at last. You can finally see the sun.

200 Word RPGs 2024

Each November, some people try to write a novel. Others would prefer to do as little writing as possible. For those who wish to challenge their ability to not write, we offer this alternative: producing a complete, playable roleplaying game in two hundred words or fewer.

BREAKTHROUGH

This is a puzzle designed as a minigame. There is an obstacle that must be overcome by brains and persistence. You have the tools, but must decide how to use them.

Steps

The GM sets the base difficulty; the hardest puzzles use 6 dice (a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20). To make it simpler, remove the higher dice or lower the difficulty check (see next step; all numbers below 4 is easiest).

For each dice used, the GM selects a number on it (the difficulty check), and orders the numbers in whatever order they choose.

The player orders the dice as they choose and rolls them. If they roll the number required for the position or higher, that part of the puzzle is a success. The player records numbers rolled, as well as successes and failures, then rearranges and repeats.

When the player thinks they've solved an aspect of the puzzle, they can set specific dice to specific positions with the number face up. When this has been done with all dice successfully, the puzzle is solved.

This might be used for lockpicking, for analysing a forensic sample, or for anything else you choose.

Tumblr 200-Word RPGs 2023

Last November, we did an informal game jam for folks who wanted to write something for Writing Month, but would prefer to write fewer than fifty thousand words of it. You can find the complete list of participants for that event in this post here. Last year's collaboration went over well enough that I thought we might dust it off again this year. To be clear, this is just for fun – it's not a curated jam, and nobody's judging winners or handing out prizes..

Step 1: If you're unfamiliar with 200-word RPGs, read a bunch of last year's entries (linked above) or browse the 200 Word RPG Challege archives at https://200wordrpg.github.io/ to get your brain-meats properly configured.

I've just released my entry to the One-Page RPG Jam 2024! It's called What Scraps Are Left, and it solves two problems at once: wanting to become an ethically-challenged "practitioner" of the sciences and getting rid of a load of documents whose existence you despise in an entertaining way!

So, why not grab a few friends, a pair of scissor and a bunch of hated documents and set to work creating an awful facimile of life sure to terrify the townsfolk! Good luck with the torches and pitchforks!

The reason why I dont create OCs all the time is that I tend to take it ~a bit~ too far - I was like "what if I create some new blorbos" and now I'm pretty much writing a TCC / final paper on their creation and designs. to be fair, I never took it THIS far before, but it's being kinda fun to actually take time and go over the possibilities to pick one element that suits the character the best (who would think animators and other character designers from the animation/gaming industry were actually right huh, SHOCKING.)
