I love that Tendou spends the entirety of Kabuto in love with Kagami. I love that it takes Kagami like 40 episodes to figure it out because he's a dog person trying to understand a cat. I love that Tendou seems so cold because he's so self-centred and blunt at times while overly vague and closed-off at others, but his love is all-encompassing and unconditional. I love that Kagami is the typical bumbling main rider in the role of the secondary, that Tendou is his rival but not vice-versa, because Tendou is still the true main rider who openly likes his ill-tempered secondary from the start, though he shows it in a way that no one who doesn't know Tendou would be able to understand. I love that when Kagami finally figures it out, he realises it's been love the whole time, and that there's no grand gesture needed. I love that he knows Tendou at that point. I love that he understands what Tendou wants to hear, and it's not bold proclamations or heroic speeches, but something that seems blunt and presumptuous in the way Tendou himself is. Cook something for me (continue to love me) (I want to be loved by you)

like, abuse in secret happens, especially when society Wouldn't approve of the abuse. abusers aren't necessarily being enabled to abuse, often they are going to great lengths to hide how they treat someone. and like, people who knew how my mom treated me didn't feel like it was okay because i was a female or child or a female child.. they just weren't willing to get involved to a degree that would affect anything bc it would logically end in assisting to remove me from the home and people reasonably question their own judgment and intentions when faced with a choice like that, often deciding it may be best if they stop meddling because that's such a huge way to alter the course of a child's life. i do think people may have been more sympathetic to me if i was a boy + my mom may have loved me more if i was a boy, but that's not WHY she abused me and the abuse didn't endure bc people turned a blind eye or didn't care due to my age/gender. my mom is a mean person. she abused me because she's mean and she went to great efforts to obscure what our home life was like exactly bc she knew how people would feel about it. i was deliberately isolated because she was mean. not bc of our socioeconomic dynamic(s). tbh.

As someone who has their first and last name misspelled and mispronounced a lot, it’s annoying. I had a substitute teacher when I was like 8, who called out our names in the morning and he said “my name” but he pronounced it “Nick-olé” kind of. And I didn’t understand that he meant me, because that’s not how to say my name. And then he asked if he missed someone and I said he missed me. He asked for my name, I pronounced it CORRECTLY, and he goes “but that’s what I said”. Like??? No, it’s not even close to what you said. Just apologise and say it correctly, that goes for you too Zava!

i've seen a lot of discourse surrounding the idea that percy's request at the end of tlo, that the gods actually take care of their kids and that they break this cycle of abandonment, didn't actually take bc books kept happening, but that's... not true?

that is not happening in hoo, which is about overcoming internal divisions to deal with an external threat, and explicitly states that gods and demigods have to work together in order to defeat the giants (which they do. a lot. like, once per book), and that is not happening in toa, which is about one god making up for his immortal lifetime of past mistakes, which he readily and dramatically acknowledges

the rules of the world are based on the mythological record, where the gods were often only tangentially involved in the heroic quests. neither of the antagonists of hoo or toa are antagonists like luke, whose villain arc stems directly from divine abandonment, so to say that the cycle continues just... doesn't really seem to fit with the facts of the text
