Your first initial impressions of any Twst character vs your current feelings about them?

honestly, my perception of pretty much every character went through some metamorphosis of "this guy looks like a jerk" to "oh, he's a stupid jerk? now hold on." it's all about that balancing act between a dark brooding asshole and a dark brooding asshole who is also totally ridiculous, and it really does make ALL the difference.

perhaps most ironically, I've mentioned before that I was absolutely not into the Diasomnias at first, because the impression the website gave pre-release was somehow even less favorable than for everyone else and I was mad at Lilia for getting my hopes up for a token girl). and then we got their stories and, well, I kind of just haven't stopped thinking about them since. 🤷

also, I went in thinking that Crowley was going to be. y'know. competent at his job. a helpful guide. a mysterious yet caring mentor figure, a fitting leader for this band of delicate young magic waifs with their fancy little magic outfits and their perfect, perfect hair. I've never been so glad to be wrong.

i feel like poolverine easily could’ve been one of those “they’re flirty but it’s mostly unserious” situations, and for most of the movie yeah they were extremely gay, but wade’s been like that with other guys and it was never treated as a serious type of relationship before. they’re willing to die for each other, but even then the romantic aspect of their relationship could be glossed over because it’s a superhero movie, that’s just what they do, and they’re working together to save a whole timeline—it’s not just about them. but then the movie doesn’t end with them saving the day and moving on. i think this’s really the part that sells poolverine as a genuine relationship to me… logan’s leaving, and wade calls for him. he can’t stand to let him go. then he introduces him to his family, and logan stays. he doesn’t really need to stay, but they’ve both decided they’re better off with one another than without

Okay but does Peri KNOW that Dev has a robotic leg when he shows up? Something about the fact that Peri's wand is a cane and the fact that Dev could have kept his leg and just had a cane for the rest of his life instead tickles my brain.

I mean he doesn't know immediately, he wasn't like briefed or anything, but he basically lives in Dev's house so he definitely finds out. Peri doesn't comment on or react to it all though really, there's no reason for him to think anything of it, plenty of people have missing limbs, a lot of people are born without them, it doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister happened. He had no reason to pry or ask and I think Peri's lack of reaction to it helped Dev feel a bit more comfortable in his skin. (Not by much but.. a little bit.)

Often, when they commission me, I receive a list of prompts to choose from. I feel bad for the ones that I don't end up drawing, so here's one of them: a helluva crossover. Guess we could call it... Helluva detective agency lol

And here's some lore

Edwin is an Incubus from the Lust ring. However, he wants to be a detective, and is not very interested in the seducing people, even when it could help. Still, demons are often attracted to him, despite him not trying! The one he wants, though, doesn't seem all that interested...

Charles is an Imp from Wrath who ran away from home. Unlike many imps, he doesn't want to become an assassin, so he ends up acting as Edwin's bodyguard, even though the incubus can't really pay him... And turns out, he's not half bad at this whole detective thing himself!

Crystal is an Infestor demon from Envy. Her job is, of course, to mess with people's head... but someone messed with hers, instead. Without memories and not knowing how to use most of her powers, Crystal ends up being helped by the boys.

Niko is a demon from Sloth. She hasn't yet decided what she wants to do with her life. Maybe she could become a nurse? but while in the middle of some personal matters, she came into contact with a parasyte that stole her energy. Truly embarrassing for a Sloth demon!

Every time I see that viral “costuming quality has decreased over the years” post I get so angry because a) the comparisons they use are not at all equal in terms of genre and what goals the costumes and the films/tv have, and b) shitting on Rings of Power costumes just because you don’t personally like them and don’t understand costume design or construction is not a valid critique.

I will keep screaming from the rooftops, as a professional costumer and as someone who knows folks who worked directly on the costumes, the Rings of Power costume team is PHENOMENAL. These costumes up close are works of art; they have teams of incredibly skilled artisans doing immaculate and extremely thought-out work and just because they don’t look like the PJ films (and serve a different purpose a lot of the time!!) does not mean they are a “downgrade”.

the thing about characters like arthur morgan and harry du bois is that people will bend over backwards to argue that their worst choices are out of character. that being low honor or doing terrible things is simply for gameplay reasons and nothing more, but that couldn't be further from the case. truth is, they have the capacity to do all of those things because they're capable of doing them, and it's just as in character for them to indulge their worst traits as it is for them to be better.
