Sorry if you’ve been asked this before, could you share what brushes you use? I just love your art and have been trying to learn about that more textured style in digital art. Not just your line art, but the big texture shading you use too AHHH so scrumptious! 🫵🔥 you are a dream machine

okayyy i need to start this by saying im a brush hoarder. i literally have so many brushsets imported because every now and then i download new ones for fresh air but i boiled it down to the ones i love the most so here u go. more info on how i use them below <3

starting with my beloved brush flat rough which i use for sketching, this comes in a paid brushset however if you’re willing to spend $ on brushes i’d say it’s def worth it, the whole set is very yummy. i found this one while i was looking for a marker brush that mimicked the one csp brush i used all the time 🥲

it’s perfect for setting up proportions and establishing interesting shapes from the get go. however its not good for lineart and small details so i mostly use it when i have the intention of covering it up with colors later. my comfort brush fr

and now my versatile queen gloaming (default brush) the only brush that doesn’t make me hate myself whenever i attempt to do lineart. when its used in a tiny size it’s very sharp and has an ink look to it, in medium size it’s perfect for sketching and maximum size it’s great for a watercolor-ish shading style. i also have a modified version where i just changed the brush tip to a round shape and made it more opaque (i used in for the lines in her coat here)

grain is a brush from tasia ms’ set. its gets opaque very fast so its great for doing the larger shadows of a drawing. it has a nice little texture to it and its free (they ask you to log in to the site for you to download it though :()

and theres this one from fatima mandouh which is meant to mimic colored pencils and its literally perfect. it genuinely looks like trad art and it feels so soft while you’re drawing its just 😘👌 no words. and its free!!! i mostly use it for the last steps of a painting but its good for anything honestly, here’s a sketch i did using it:

overall i feel like the real secret to make your art feel more textured is just shading in a hatching style tbh. like seriously just slap the flat colors and build up with a pencil brush trust me. also add a little texture on top of the finished artwork. and add sharpness and noise too. go whack.

Ok so I've been super obsessed with the AMAZING Trolley Problem AU fics by @silverview & @unreesonable (where Drew is the 22 year old Blake abuses instead of Ellie) for literally ages so it was only a matter of time before I'd end up doing some art based on it pfft...

Ok, so I immediately wanted to do a sorta twisted version of Klimt's 'The Kiss' but the concept kinda got away from me as I was painting it... Plus I couldn't get the vibrant gold colour to work with the general colouring of the figures so the background became like vaguely vaginal curtains that I could probably spin some kinda symbolic link to Drew's mother if I wanted to lol...

(think I made a joke on bsky that I'm in my Georgia O'Keeffe era and NO one laughed smhsmh...)

I've also been wanting to do something based on the iconic The Fallen Angel painting by Alexandre Cabanel but never really had a particular subject in mind... until NOW! (ofc the emotion is different but idk I think the reference still works... Drew's tears are more desperate, hopeless, resigned, and perhaps less angry than Lucifer's?)

I wanted the piece to feel like Drew is trapped. Trapped by his turbulent relationship with his mother and father, trapped by his status and position in life, trapped by his sexuality, trapped by the drugs... And ultimately trapped by Blake, who was supposed to offer him a paternal embrace, a comforting hand on his shoulder, to properly help guide him out of the hole he's stuck in but all he did was take advantage of his vulnerability and drag him further into that pit...

Also, kinda funny story, but I tried doing a cute romantic in9 art before I started this but my brain and hand were having none of it lol... NO adorable yaoi for you manipulative toxic yaoi ONLY !!!!!!!

Stylistically I wanted to try and make this look sorta traditionally painted, which involved me using a combo of my regular program alongside ms paint since I like the texture of some of the brushes on there tbh (plus those brushes are really great for painting body hair which I had so much fun drawing a lot of here lol)! Overlaid with a vaguely canvas-y texture lol

Oh, and also I put the diamond pattern of the jumper Drew wears in the episode on his underwear here both because it was going to get covered if I put it on his t-shirt and because it's sorta a fun way to reflect how this is an AU lol

Also have some close ups since tumblr has completely destroyed the quality of this lol:

this is a long-ahh post so i'll be nice and put everything under the cut.

this is one i had when i was a little kid. i was in our kitchen at night, and this giant Visa logo was chasing me around. i jumped into a crib that was randomly there for some reason, and it honed in on me just before i woke up.

this was another one i had as a little kid about a weird ending to a Barney episode. looking back, though, i think it was the Count from Sesame Street at the end and not the Hamburgular.

okay so this one i THINK i had towards the end of 2021. i was at Disney World and there was this new walk-through attraction called "The New Naples." all it was was this dingy run-down old crackhouse and at the end there was this sentient Barney plushie with red, angry eyes and wearing a chef costume that would jump out and attack you.

this one's also from 2021. i was at Universal Studios or some other amusement park, and this was a sign outside one of the rides. i think it was some sort of bumper-car ride with spray nozzles full of colored slime that you could spray at people.

in this dream (2021 was the year of weird dreams for me lol) i had a magical TV that was inhabited by the good fairies from Sleeping Beauty, who spent all their time making movies in real-time for me to watch.

i was watching a movie in which Sleeping Beauty and Snow White fell in love and ran away together. (love wins~) this was the logo at the end. yes, the MS-paint eyes were part of it. Flora had to go and make her clothes blue for this gig and she ain't happy about it. show some respect.

guess the year. go on. guess. in this dream, this little scorpion/guinea pig hybrid was chasing me around my house. he was adorable, yes, but he was also venomous enough to kill me in one fell swoop if i'd come in contact with it.

this one's actually from 2020! yeah, i know! in this dream, Disney wanted to hop on the "My Little Pony: Pony Life" bandwagon and made their own version with the Disney Princesses. (the image source is from the Video Brinquedo mockbuster cartoon "Little Princess School.")

these last two i don't remember any context for or even what happened in the dreams they're from. i think they're just random memes i saw in my dreams. but they're worth a mention.

i think the pigeon one was one i saw just before waking from a nap.

i have feelings about Jaxston and that poem man. anyways yo!! kinda vague ass interpretation of the prompt yippee!!!!!!!!

HERE is the first doodle i did when i wanted to make Jaxston. i was inspired by someone's fnaf fanart and really liked the spiraling words and limited palette and went "Y'know I've really been wanting to make a Bill's vessel oc..."

Made on ms paint ! i think its fun bc he is no longer Bill's vessel at all and never is at this point in me creating his lore and stuff (idk yet im always so indecisive about fandom oc lore lmao) lol !

so i took the prompt as "Beginnings of the idea of the character" teehee

then when i was drawing it i was not in the mood to do any fullbodies bc i had JUST finished day 1, which took longer than i wanted so i just. kept it simple! aka i sketched the full body, hated it and then deleted the entire lower half of the body lmao

i didnt do any sketch past this lol, i really liked how it felt and just kinda kept it. i tried lineart, but i couldnt get it to fit the vibe the og sketch had so i decided not to ^_^

also i spent 3-4 hours writing the poem over and over and ove again for the spiral lmao

anyways i like yapping about my art.

hello ms. speremint ma'am! thank you so much for brimstone and roses, i've reread the whole thing because of the finale and it's not only very very good but it also made me reflect about many things in my own life and might've been the final push i needed to get out of a situation similar to bea's at the start of the comic. haven't summon a demon tho.

that being said, i'm actually sending this ask because i was curious regarding some things post-finale. does bea now call laz bradley full time? is laz a bit of a pet name that links to how they met or is it uncomfortable because it reminds him of his time in hell? did he eventually remember everything or will some things remain fuzzy forever? does he remember running into alex in hell? if so, did he tell bea about it? does ms ginger remember her life as 17 or is her mind full cat now? and after she dies, does her soul go to the same place as regular cat souls (wherever that may be)? did bea's parents ever find out where she actually met her husband? and a last one: is alex's mom ok? i was actually hoping (though not really expecting) they'd get some kind of closure, but i guess he never even found out how much she misses him, which was the saddest part in the comic for me.

sorry for the huge textwall! i just have been rotating the comic in my brain and the mind microwave just won't stop beeping lol

Hey hey! Honestly I'm happy to hear that! I wrote Bea's initial situation when I was still in college and kind of fretting about not knowing what was next for me, and I think that's really common tbh.

To answer your questions!

Bea still calls Laz Laz, I think. It's probably just habit, and when asked, they both just say it's his middle name.

Laz probably remembers more and more snippets of his past (more specifically his time on Earth with Bea) as time passes. The ending is meant to insinuate that some of his memories have started returning regardless, but to him, it's the future that now matters most.

He probably doesn't remember Alex much. It wasn't super notable to him since he doesn't remember exactly who that demon was, just that his vibe was rancid.

Ms. Ginger is still very smart and much more sentient than a regular cat. She's just no longer magical and immortal, something she is remiss to realize.

Her "soul" will return to the Warden as part of them.

That's a really good question about Bea's parents. In truth, I think Bea, Laz, Sofia, and Evelyn get together and make an ACTUAL backstory that's much more plausible, they just cut out all the demon crap. So basically a slightly less deranged background than what Bea paints in the beginning of the story.

Alex's mom is definitely not okay. It's a hard moment of grief that she suppresses and has no real support system for. I'm sure she'll heal in time, but she completely cuts Bea out of her mind after Alex's funeral and the cover-up of his death. They wouldn't be friends, is what I'm saying.

So! Lunar Inkclipse is having a great time! I've already submitted my ticket to tumblr support to try and get the issue resolved, since it can happen through just glitches. we are on broken hellsite, after all (affectionate).
