1. Ceratosaurus - Favorite character design from both series? (Also who in your personal opinion, had the best glow up from CC to CT)

AW MAN THIS IS SUPER HARD. of the nublar 6 my favorite designs in camp cretaceous are tied between yasmina and brooklynn from s3 onward, mostly because i love the way they both wore their hair. in chaos theory darius totally wins over everyone else though, the team really nailed his design there (but i am really fond of some of the concepts the artists came up with during pre-production! same goes for the other campers, especially brooklynn. that bleach blonde pixie cut is my roman empire tbh)

as for biggest glow up ... i feel obligated to give that one to ben, if just because of the growth spurt. also gonna take this opportunity to go on the record and say LEAVE KENJI ALONE I GET THAT HE'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK A BIT ROUGH BUT HIS HAIRCUT ISN'T THAT BAD 😭😭😭

2. Dilophosaurus - How did you discover Camp Cretaceous?

so, i didn't actually start watching camp cretaceous until a few months after the final season wrapped up—i think sometime around september 2022? but i had some close friends who had been keeping up with it for a while, and after hearing them talk about it so much i was like, hey, i want in! which is funny, because i was never really into jurassic park/world before then? i was more of a marine biology kid than a dino kid growing up. but even without knowing the ~lore~ of the franchise, CC and its characters still managed to reel me in, and now i'm here nearly two years later and my hyperfixation is still going strong!

3. Compy - Favorite duo/trio/friendship and why?

favorite purely platonic duo goes to ben and yasmina EASILLYYYY. they just get each other on such a personal level, and i love seeing ben go from this kid yasmina begrudgingly tolerates to someone she trusts enough to confide in, both in JWCC s5 when she realizes she might harbor romantic feelings for sammy, and then again in JWCT s1 when her relationship with sammy has hit a rough patch. shout out to yasmina and darius though, their interactions in JWCC s2 were really sweet, they don't get enough love imo. i've said this at least three billion times before but if kenji is darius's shitty older brother then yasmina is darius's cooler older cousin

as for my favorite trio, i feel like most people would probably say either yasammy + ben or the original three (darius kenji and brooklynn) but for me it's darius brooklynn and ben 🥹 their individual dynamics all mean so much to me, and it doesn't hurt that i also lowkey highkey ship them as an OTV with darius in the middle (although if i had to seriously ship ben with any of the girls, it'd be brooklynn, lol)

THE RESURRECTION OF CASS DEV POST 1

hey paisanos! it's my birthday today so i felt like talking about cass. TROC is still in its infancy at the moment, so unfortunately there isn't much to show off. however, what i CAN show you is very fun! i've been stirring up concepts for the game left and right and now i can confidently say when it's finished, it's gonna be a pretty unique game, or at least it should be. above is a snippet one of the songs for the game, Spooks of a Purple Hue, the default overworld theme, if you're interested first off, huge shoutout to @sproutian for sacrificing itself and offering to do programming assistance for the project! she's been very lovely to work with so far and i'm incredibly excited to have her on. second off, the game has gotten just a bit prettier since last time i showed it off. here's a glimpse at the dialogue system and hud, as well as an enemy design. the first room is fully decorated with finalized tiles, but the room itself will probably go unused lol

also, the dialogue system will probably be remade because it is not very good tbh. but yeah! i'm really happy with how it's coming along so far. the little stained glass cass in the corner will update depending on if you're in a battle or not, so be on the lookout for that. hey, speaking of battles, how are those gonna work? well, i have a couple ideas. while cass can move freely in overworld segments, battles will instead be locked to a grid and will happen live in whatever room it happens to take place in. if you like crude concept art then have i got the image for you!

So! Of all the Oc's you've created, who's your favorite? Like, is there someone whose backstory or personality or character design that are just so simply sublime that you can't help but giggle when you think about them?

Sorry for the super late reply! To be honest, I took AGES to finish answering this because I couldn't name just a SINGLE one if you put a gun to my head; I can't say I consider any of them full thought-out/developed and I actually love them almost equally Dx ...also I struggle to decouple what I love about them as a character from the narrative.... For the sake of my sanity (and mayhaps yours) I'll try to focus on Sierra for now (I'm still figuring her out tbh) TwT I did my best to omit *some* of the stuff that wasn't directly related to her so this ended up being more like a collection of stuff related to her that I think are neat and are very loosely in chronological order xD Let me just put this under a readmore cuz I'm a bit shy about answering these publicly TLDR: Sierra's a poor little meow meow who puts on a tough front but is an insecure, lonely mess inside and I enjoy that very much.

⦁ It wasn't intentional at first, but I really like that Sierra is a bit of a subversion of how Mesa (the archetype) is usually depicted/seen as? Mesa is generally depicted as this badass that's cool as a cucumber, confident in her abilities to the point that she handicaps herself with a bandana to "give herself a challenge". But the Lotus also introduces her as a vagabond/outcast, and I couldn't help but wonder why and wanted to put that into context.

⦁ Sierra is most of these things, but it's a front she puts on to act tough and reliable. She's lonely and insecure but would sooner gnaw her own leg off than let her vulnerabilities show.

⦁ She's confident in her ability to kill, but she has to be because it's the one and only thing she's good at and she can't stand the thought of making someone suffer. During the Old War, as one of the few sane autonomous warframes, she was often forced to put down her brothers and sisters that were too much trouble to keep alive because her abilities were perfect for the job, and since they were built to be durable, she often witnessed them suffering before dying, and cursed herself for it. The guilt became too much for her to bear and it became part of the reason she eventually lost her sanity and was placed in cryo for the rest of the Old War. As a result, she's very meticulous about modding her pistols, making sure they get the job done as fast and as painlessly as possible. ⦁ On the flip side, she's insecure about her abilities being nowhere as potent and as impressive as other warframes and felt inadequate in comparison to them. But it had never been much of a problem until The New War, when Tala went to face Erra and Ballas in her Excalibur instead of going with Sierra. Tala only intended to protect her, knowing how many Tenno were lost in the War at this point, but Sierra blamed herself for not being strong enough to be relied on, believing she could've saved Tala if she were there.

⦁ Vastly outnumbered by Narmer forces, she was desperate enough to resort to the Helminth system for healing and augmenting herself with abilities that weren't her own out of desperation, which ate away at her sanity over time. She also refused to open up to Drifter Tala, afraid that she'll abandon her (like she thought Tala did) if she perceived her as weak and unreliable.

⦁ She's aloof, distrusting and tries to keep her distance (especially when she first met Operator Tala and Drifter Tala) because she's afraid of becoming attached and going through the pain of losing someone dear to her again.

⦁ Sierra was the bastard child of a Dax and a commoner, and her hard work in honing her marksmanship (which landed her in the Warframe program) was so she could prove herself in the war and hopefully elevate her commoner side of the family to a better station and reunite with them, but the Old War and becoming a warframe made that dream impossible, and the scars it left made her close off emotionally, not wanting to hurt any further.

⦁ When she was rescued by Tala (who only went by "Operator" at the time) from Alad V, Sierra barely remembered anything from the Old War. Tala was convinced she was a Tenno despite their ship Cephalon not detecting any traces of void energy in her, because she was moving on her own despite being cured of the Mutalist infestation (mind you, Tala at this point also barely remembers anything from before the Dream, so she believes the Tenno were just beings that possessed warframes), and also because there was a time where Tala couldn't use her void powers either, so the two dumbasses convinced each other that Sierra was just an amnesic Tenno and she just needed time to remember. Tala would even try to teach her things like switching from one warframe to another, to no avail.

⦁ In the meantine, Sierra took a liking to Tala's defective, diminutive Kubrow which had been given off to Tala because it was too small to be used for combat, and its presence also set her at ease. She really likes how soft they are to touch. (They'd eventually get more consigned kubrows later on.)

⦁ After some point Sierra recovers enough and warms up enough to the Operator to follow them around, sometimes accompanying them on their missions and observing the ordinary folk in the colonies when off-duty, but she's still afraid to use the guns connected to her forearms. For a while they were just two low-rank Tenno sharing the same barely functional Orbiter, bickering over which missions/bounties to take and arguing over the Tenno's values and their unquestioning loyalty to the Lotus. Still, they help each other earn enough to repair the ship and buy better equipment.

⦁ It's only until the events of the Second Dream happen (Kanami was entrusted with the mission and was personally targeted by the Stalker, but she called Tala and Sierra to assist), when they find out Tala's real identity and they fail to find Sierra's pod that Sierra begins to doubt her identity as a Tenno, but she hesitates to confide in Tala, not that she could find the time to tell her-- Tala's still shaken by the fact that the Lotus kept their real nature from them and struggled to take care of herself as a human after living as a warframe for so long that Sierra had to step in and take care of her, asking Kanami for help and even taking up cooking later on.

⦁ It took a long time for Tala to even transference into Sierra, because Tala always considered Sierra her own person even after she suspected she wasn't a Tenno, and wanted to respect her autonomy, especially knowing that Alad had controlled her against her will in the past. She transferenced for the first time with Sierra as a last resort after Kanami and Rouge tracked them down on Earth and the two of them working separately were no match for the vanguard-class warframe and operator working together. (Tala had gone AWOL earlier after losing all trust in the Lotus.)

⦁ Similarly, Sierra used her Regulators for the first time since she was awoken during the fight after Tala transferences into her, doing her best to deflect Rouge's incoming fire with her own to buy herself and Tala time, and Tala assisting with close quarters combat when Rouge runs out of energy and resorts to melee.

⦁ SIerra's memories only return to her in full when Rouge goes berserk from Kanami trying to stop her from killing both of them, having been kept under a tight leash for so long. Rouge's frenzy during the final confrontation with her reminded her of the crazed warframes she was forced to put down.

⦁ Even if Rouge pursued them relentlessly and nearly killed her and Tala in the past, Sierra couldn't bring herself to fully hate her; at some point, Rouge hesitated long enough for them to escape, and it reminded her of the fact that some of the warframes she had to kill weren't all beyond saving. (honestly the desertion arc and Kanami's complicated relationship with Rouge and their backstories is a whole other post xd)

⦁ While they were AWOL and roaming Earth on their own, they came across the spot that would be called the Drifter Camp later on.

⦁ Both of them returned to the fold when the New War broke out and proved themselves in Operation Scarlet Spear and Operation Orphix Venom, gaining a lot of combat experience in the process.

⦁ When Tala left to take the fight to Ballas and Erra directly and left her, Sierra damaged the Orbiter enough for Ordis to relent and prepare the backup landing craft, but Tala's void energy signature had already been gone by then. They're still making the Orbiter spaceworthy again to this day.

⦁ Sierra was much more ruthless when she was fighting on her lonesome against Narmer, not being able to afford being merciful, but also because she felt like she had lost everything she cared about. ⦁ Narmer never found Sierra despite her proving to be a thorn in their side for some time; Rouge had taught her in guerilla tactics and how to keep her tracks hidden, and she learned from Tala when they did covert operations together, but more importantly, Sierra wasn't a real Tenno and didn't have any void energy signature for Narmer forces to track.

⦁ Sierra was too injured to fight when Drifter Tala made the choice to go to Hunhow for help, but she followed after her anyway despite her weakened state, and she was given a new, stronger set of pistols after Drifter Tala was given the Nataruk.

⦁ When Operator Tala came back, Sierra took a moment to hug her, something she rarely does. ⦁ Sierra and Operator Tala act like rowdy siblings together living on their own, bullying each other, bickering about which missions to take, paying the bills, and repairing the orbiter from time to time, and Sierra appreciates that a lot because it makes her feel like nothing much has changed since she became a warframe. ⦁ Sierra isn't as close-knit with Tala's older self, but Sierra often takes her along on her trips on Earth while she tries to get Drifter Tala acclimated to the Origin System, knowing how it feels like to be in a world that's completely different than the one you know. That's all I can think of for now; if I let myself include more of the story this would be way, WAY longer...

Yume is ambitious, confident, and proud, While mainly focused on her goals, she is willing to kick back for a bit and relax, which surprises others when she does. When she sets her mind on something, she is determined to master whatever it is. Yume is prideful about what she does despite not being very famous. Driven by sheer determination, Yume is willing to sacrifice anything to reach her desires. She is also very competitive, making even the simplest of things into a competition

Do you have a fashion inspo blog?

Well, although I'm a millennial and technically from the generation that made blogging popular I have never been into fashion blog like that

Even when I was studying fashion I was more into reading magazines/industry news than blogs

It didn't stop me from digging a particular individual style though. And on that aspect, as far as I know, Toru Inagawa has been my biggest style crush. I discovered him because he was often featured into TUNE magazine (streetstyle magazine) and I immediately fell in love lol. I'm a sucker for everything oversize so I quickly became obsessed with him and his pants and knitwear

Fun fact: I am such a fan of him that when I went to Tokyo I was adamant in going to his second hand shop (he's the owner) and bought gorgeous oversize denim pants there. The same day I made an Instagram story tagging him and he looked at it 😳💗 Biggest "Sempai noticed me" moment!!! lmaoo

For female inspo it definitely was Tsubasa Masuwaka. She peaked big time during her gyaru days ; her way of coordinating sporty items (beanies, varsity tees & socks) with more fashionable pieces (denim, cowboy boots) has always fascinated me

But beside her sense of style, the way she conducted herself, being so confident in her taste and how to properly convey it in the shootings she was featured in was very inspiring.

There's this documentary about her on youtube ; even if you don't understand Japanese you can have a glimpse of her style and allure (starting from the 4:00 mark). Keep in mind this was 15 years ago, so this style might come off as kinda dated but even today I think she still she had that visionary je ne sais quoi which totally explains why she is to this day the queen of a 10 millions yen empire lol Tsubasa has always been a smart businesswoman

I remember obsessively trying to buy that exact same kind beanie at New Look. Tsu chan really got young wannabe gyaru me on a chokehold lol

Today, now that gyaru fell off and she getting older, her style became pretty underwhelming (it a hit or miss really...). I'm currently reading her book "Tsubasa REAL" and the fashion chapter is okay, but it's nowhere as "WOW" as it was back when she got a big break as a gyaru dokusha model. It's interesting to see her rocking designer brand more than she ever did (in that documentary she's making a Shimamura haul - basically the equivalent of Primark in Japan) but....she never manages to pull it off and always looks like she's cosplaying

Though it seems more like a global movement in the reiwa era, which is more beauty than fashion oriented(?)

I replied to an ask where I more thoroughly elaborated on the whole difference of era in Japan but to put it bluntly, reiwa is much more conservative and "safe" (styl & make up ise) so it makes sense that Tsubasa is going along and toned down her style?

I find fascinating how her makeup style perfectly represent the Heisei vs Reiwa aesthetic shift

Heisei: glamorous/big hair, tanned/glolden skin, heavy eye makeup & eyelashes, thin eyebrows, glossy lips, shimmer...

Reiwa: pale skin, little to no eye makeup, strong eyebrow, 涙袋/ namidabukuro (drawn or surgically enhanced tearbag to look more youthful)..

The last day I was (re)watching her video of listing all her plastic surgery and she admitted messing up her face with hyaluronic acid because she was so insecure about her big round shaped head, and used hyaluronic acid to have a sharper face, but the hyaluronic acid eventually migrated on her cheeks which made her face even rounder 💀 so now she's trying to fix it with HIFU (which is some sort of electrosound muscle treatment...). She lowkey sounds addicted but that's how far narcissism will get you.... (and it seems well ingrained in the family since she said her own parents told her when she was still in middle school to pinch her nose with a clothespin 1 hour a day to have a high nose bridge (which she did) 💀 and when people clown her for having weird shaped nostril she said it hurt her feelings because that's her "natural features"....like?? bestie, maybe if you didn't mess up your nose cartilage during your growth development your nostrils wouldn't look so weird. There's nothing 'natural' about it 😬)

This woman started getting plastic surgery very young (in her early 20s with eyelid surgery) and did so continuously up until now (she's in her mid 30s) so that explains why she's looking so uncanny when she doesn't have her pictures monitored/filtered to hell and back. Apologies for the long wait! I'm simply a lil silly thing. Anyways, moving on from the Martinverse (Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon), I'll be covering the Tolkienverse! Now, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit have no shortage of unique swords, and considering my format change, I'll do armour in this post, and swords in another.

As usual, I'll start with armour, and first up we have Thorin(son of Thráin, son of Thror)'s armour!

Now, he wears two distinctive sets, and I definitely have a preference. But I refer to this first set as his Dragonsickness Armour:

Okay so first things first, I *do* like the design. Like, it's very unique, and has personality imo. But I just *know* this shit is heavy. Unless of course it's a special material made to be as strong as steel but impossibly light (/j). Under the fur cloak he's got all the right stuff, pauldrens and whatnot, and we can see that he's wearing mail under it as well, so it's all theoretically practical.

I understand it's "King Thorin" or whatever, but I'd replace the crown with a helmet. I've seen fanart of him with one, but he never wears it in the movies so shame on him. He does have a shield though, so I can forgive him.

Speaking of the shield, I like it. It looks rather small, but that's fine, if he can use a tree branch effectively, he can use this (/s).

Now, his other armor, what he wears throughout basically the whole series:

It's super simple, it looks like just mail under a coat. Also it seems like there's no mail on the biceps. I understand he was literally homeless, but I'd have to rob someone, I couldn't wear this.

Next is the Rivendell Elven Soldier Armour:

I'm sorry it's such a shitty picture, but everything else was either a drawing or homemade. Now, it doesn't look all that protective tbh. I don't see any mail underneath, the elbows are exposed which leads me to believe other joints are as well (knees, ankles, etc.), and honestly it just doesn't scream "sturdy" to me. I understand elves are light weight warriors, but for a vanguard I'd want a little more protection.

Also, I think the solid metal "plume" on top is an interesting choice. Just like with Daemon's helmet, it's unnecessary weight, and will likely give you a sore neck after wearing it for too long. Other than that, it does look pretty cool.

Next we have Elrond's Armour, which is surprisingly similar to the standard soldiers armour:

The first thing I see it that he has mail on, which immediately puts this at a higher rank. However, his thighs are exposed save for the mail hanging down, which I think is an interesting choice seeing as there's a rather important artery in there. No gauntlets, or even gloves, is a downside, not to mention wearing a crown in place of a helmet again.

I will say, props to him for not wearing something drastically more fancy than his foot soldiers, it definitely inspires confidence in his leadership imo.

Galadriel's Armour from Rings of Power! I suppose spoilers?

Firstly, oof. I think this shit is ugly tbh. But, that's more personal opinion than objective.

Onto actually reviewing it, it looks decent enough. However, the chest plate is too form fitting, I don't think it should curve inwards at the stomach like that. And yes, I understand Elrond's was pretty close fit too, but it's still a full round chestplate, not trying to accentuate anything.

Other than that, it's some genuinely good armour. Full chain underneath, so props to her, even though it's a little messy. And let's focus on the elbows a little bit. This is the perfect way to armour that joint, because it's not as exposed when your arm is outstretched as it would be with other armour. But you still have full range of motion!

Also, this is another good example of tasteful ornamentation.

Last, but definitely not least, Lord Sauron's Armour

I'll try my very best not to be biased here, but like, c'mon, do you blame me?? This is so fucking cool.

Anyways, even without the bias, this armour *would* protect you. Like, it might shred you to pieces while donning it, but it's so worth it.

It's got all the things I usually look for, mail, helmet, joint protection, but also a fucking cape. Hell yeah.

Now, in my attempts to remain unbiased, I will say that any other time I'd dislike the spikes, namely the ones on the pauldrons and helmet, they're simply ridiculous. I do like that he sort of combined a helmet a crown (looking at you two Thorin and Elrond). But yeah this is just badass.

Review: Down With Love (2010)

I felt a little nostalgic this week and decided to rewatch Down With Love, a romcom out of Taiwan featuring Ella Chen (from Hana Kimi) and Jerry Yan (Meteor Garden).

This is more of a brain dump as opposed to a real review. More below the cut.

Let me just start with the fact I love dramas with tomboys, gender benders, and gender non-conforming women and girls in general. I'm a 40 yr old gnc bi-woman, so some of these storylines really resonate with me - despite the trend of making those female characters glaringly stupid and pitiable.

Our girl Ella Chen plays tomboy Yang Guo. Yang Guo works, has friends, and a shitty boyfriend of 5 years. She acts naïve, but she actually has a lot of life experience due to a *tragic backstory*. After her mother died, her father ruined the family business. Their family plunged from riches to rags and their father abandoned them. Yang Guo is 6 when this happens and it falls on her older sister Yang Duo to raise them both while homeless, starving, and navigating the homeless camps in the parks of Taipei.

Yang Duo (Kelly Huang) has raised her little sister by herself, beginning from poverty and homelessness to having a house and making a life for themselves. They bicker good-naturedly, but Yang Duo is very protective and supportive of her sister. She's managed to earn a job at a prestigious law firm as an admin assistant with strong accounting skills. She is seen as frugal, clever, and competent. Several characters make comments throughout the series about how it was a shame that she didn't go into certain careers because she's so accomplished despite not having a formal education. It's obvious that Yang Duo has put her own dreams and happiness on hold to make sure that she and Guo have financial security. Yang Duo is my favorite character btw. She is a supporting character that is multi-faceted and has her own character arc. I really like seeing her growth in this drama, and she gets some cute side couple action later in the series. Skip the last episode.

Due to growing up in poverty and scrabbling to lower-middle-class, the two girls work nonstop. After Guo is fired from her job waiting tables, Duo gets Guo a job as a nanny for her boss Xiang Yu Ping by lying and saying Guo is a lesbian.

Xiang Yu Ping (Jerry Yan) owns his own law firm and is seen as cold and overbearing. He is raising his dead brother's kids and none of the nannies he's hired have lasted either due to being chased off by the kids (a la the Sound of Music) or by trying to seduce him because he's a rich handsome lawyer. Relieved to have found a nanny who definitely wouldn't seduce him (because he thinks she's a lesbian), he just pays an unreasonably huge salary to keep her there with the kids despite their abuse.

Supporting characters: Amanda Chu as the best friend Yan Ling with the messy dating life is also delightful, but I've enjoyed all her roles. I may rewatch Lion Pride for her, now that I'm walking down memory lane. The office of 'just some lawyer dudes being dudes' are funny. I love when they gather around to watch drama and place bets on what's happening. They're also slackers. I would love/hate to work with them.

So that's the setup.

Honestly, I hate the 'pretends to be gay' plots. It's typically really offensive and this was no exception in a lot of places. (It's not at the same level as Personal Taste, but it's bad.) One of the cases Yu Ping takes on is unlawful termination and blackmail of a gay teacher and he asks for Yang Guo's advice to help the man. Taiwan was trying in 2010, but it wasn't exactly good representation to have a fake lesbian help an actual gay man faced with employment discrimination and blackmail over his orientation. When I compare this with Love is Science (2021 twdrama) that has two out lgbt characters employed in their office with significant roles, I'm just so happy that lgbtq media representation is still progressing.

I don't care about Yu Ping's best friend Qi Ke Zhong or Yu Ping's ex-girlfriend Ding Hui Fan because they're both terrible people that don't deserve forgiveness and their only purpose was to drag out our leads getting together. Since this was a rewatch, I knew how much I hated their scenes and skipped them as much as I could. You're not missing anything. Someone on YT needs to just make a Yang Duo/Xiang Yu Ping cut, tbh. Also? Go ahead and skip the deadbeat father.

The nanny bit only lasts three episodes (the kids are adorable), but it's long enough for Yu Ping to catch feelings and think his lesbian nanny is cute. He actually is not cold and overbearing as episode 1 makes him out to be. Yu Ping is supportive and tries to be a good friend to Guo. When he thinks her 'girlfriend' is cheating on her, he absolutely flips out because he feels she deserves to be respected and loved in her relationship. He learns about her family. He learns about her friends. He knows where to look for her when she's upset. He knows how to cheer her up and later, he knows how to make the perfect date. When he finds out she lied about being a lesbian, he's not even mad. He admits it was his fault for making certain demands in the employment contract. He's just upset that he's lost chances to flirt and court her.

Listen. It's a dumb premise in this drama and the misunderstandings suck. But it's so refreshing to see male leads be decent to women that are romantically and sexually unavailable to them. The bar is so low, in RL and in dramas, that Yu Ping belongs in the top tier of male drama leads. This dude was just going to continue in a supportive friendship for an undetermined time, both when he thought she was a lesbian and later when his shitty weasel of a best friend dated her under false pretenses. He didn't burden her with a confession until her relationship was over. And whenever she asked for space, he gave it to her. And when she confronted him on instances of jealously, he apologized and gave her space.

Yu Ping never tries to change Guo. He doesn't give her a makeover. She has a makeover scene that is instigated by another character and all he does is try to make her comfortable when she's so obviously uncomfortable. Then he cheers inwardly when he sees her overcome her awkwardness and have confidence. But by the end of the drama, she is still dressing and acting the same as in act 1. It honestly reminded me a little of Coffee Prince in that the fancy male lead is still just as enamored with his gnc woman by the end and the way she presents herself doesn't have an effect on their romantic relationship. Again, this is content catered to me as a bi & gnc woman in a relationship with a cis-het man. I often am mistaken for a man when I go out with my spouse and he's still super into me so let's normalize gnc people with gc people already it's 2021.

Anyway, if you watch romances for kisses, there's really only a couple of pecks and one nice passionate kiss and they're all in basically the last 3 eps of the series.

The last episode sucks. Stop at episode 15. Seriously. Don't watch episode 16. Why oh why do you let terrible people back in your life? Qi Ke Zhong and Ding Hui Fan are toxic and should but cut out of their lives. The end of ep 15 had a happy ending with a family-style breakfast for our two sisters with their boyfriends. Ep 16 threw in some more misunderstanding, jealousy, and separations followed by a time skip for no reason and brought back my two least favorite characters.

Anyway, I will live in my little world with Yang Duo and her sweet lawyer boyfriend Liang Zhi Hao (Ian Yim/Cyran Yan/Yan Yi En yeah, this actor has three stage names) that supports her interests and self-determination while they save money on mass transit by using his motorbike. And they build her dream home that she designs. Perhaps they put aside funds for her to pursue a degree in what she's passionate about.

1. Talk about a book or media piece that was influential to your OC. For Melanie, it was a lot of old movies. The way she talks, her mannerisms, all come from things I watched Old Hollywood actresses do. Her story is more personal, I drew a lot from my grandmother who grew up in Mount Airy. For Juliet, the most influential piece for inspo is The Newsroom. Fabulous show, and Mackenzie McHale is a huge influence on Juliet's character. Followed very closely by Fleabag.

2. Do you have any OCs without a story right now? What’s stopping that story from happening. (‘Time’ is a legitimate answer.) Yes, poor Rita is still without her fic. It has mostly to do with time and that I'm focused on Mel and Jules right now. I'm also nervous because Rita's story is almost entirely post-war and I'm not super confident in readers' interest. I also have a 1917 OC that I'd like to explore a little more, but time and research are still in the way with that.

3. We’ve talked about OCs being ‘cringe’ - what have you done - or seen other writers do - to create characters that you like and feel strongly about? I mean this kindly, but I genuinely do not give a fuck if people find my OCs "cringe," so I make no effort to necessarily avoid that. Obviously, I want my writing to be relatable and fun. But tbh, everything is cringe to one person or another, so you might as well do what you want. My OCs are self-indulgent! They are kinda self-inserts! And I do not care! I do this for free and for fun, so I do it my way. And people still like them so that's awesome!

4. OFCs, in particular, are often criticized for being self-inserts - representations of the author in the story. Do you think your character is a direct reflection of you? In what ways? Absolutely, I do. I've actually spent an entire session in therapy talking about how both Melanie and Juliet are facets of my own personality that I've adapted for the story. Melanie is my softer side, kinda who I wish I could be, but with all my issues regarding confrontation and speaking up for myself. Juliet is a way for me to voice a lot of things I wish I could say. I'm much more like her in my thought process, but I'm like Melanie in that I don't say those things aloud.

5. Shakespeare famously wrote that we should 'fit the action to the word, the word to the action.’ Do you find that you create a character and then find a story for them to inhabit, or does the story or premise come first and the character follows after? I usually create OCs for already established media, so they are designed to fit the world I create them for. Actually, I tend to base them on the love interest. Melanie was created with Dick Winters in mind. Same with Juliet and Ron Speirs. But Melanie especially. She was written to be a love interest and I'm cool with that! Juliet has more going on for herself and I'm cool with that too! But my fics focus is almost always going to be a love story, which I absolutely do not apologize for.

6. How has your character changed over time - either in their story, or as you’ve continued writing them? Melanie has grown up a lot and gained more confidence, which was supposed to happen for her. Juliet actually was only going to be a companion for Melanie at first. But she ended up demanding more and I wanted to explore that, which developed her story with her brother and all that.

7. Have you learned or realized something about yourself from writing this character? Idk if I've learned anything new about myself, but writing Melanie has been extremely therapeutic for me. I watched BoB again after a terrible breakup, and decided to explore the fandom. I had created an OC when I first joined back in 2015, but OFCs were not super well received at that time, so I never published anything. But I came back and started fleshing out Melanie's story and her romance with Dick (who is my dream man so it was fun to sort of go there to forget about my ex), and then it turned into more OCs like Juliet and Rita and Bonnie and Sybil (the 1917 OC, but i'm not sold on that name just yet), and writing has helped me in my healing so much. I'm over that guy now and moving on, but my OCs were like my friends during that time.

8. Can canon characters become OCs? To some degree sure. Maybe not main characters, but I've seen great stories of canon side characters adopted by an enthusiastic writer that are awesome!

Marriage Headcanons

Anyway, I was watching Say Yes to the Dress and now I'm just thinking dresses and weddings.

Essentially a no cult AU

The GFH are just the bridal party.

Maid of honor is entirely subject to your Deputy's best friend.

Sharky

I luv this boy. Super supportive fiance.

Like he wants to respect the tradition of not seeing the dress but also wants to break tradition.

So he comes to help.

Sharky thinks that the Deputy wearing anything would be perfect.

Hell he was ready to go to the courthouse and elope the second he proposed.

He finds the ugliest dress in the store.

"Its got character Dep."

Tbh, I feel like he would make a lot of jokes about having the ugliest things. Like instead of having regular tuxes they're like camo or like the sleeves tear off, but when it comes down to it he wants to look nice.

For a dress the dep would probably do something like a mermaid style.

Sexy but elegant so it still feels like a wedding dress.

Even if he saw the dress in the store and even if he did cry then, he still cries when he sees her on their wedding day.

I don't think rings would be a big deal for Sharky and the Dep, I think the ring would he like the last thing either of them thought about.

Probably a small diamond with a pretty simple design.

Sharky would feel bad that he couldn't afford something fancy but the Dep wouldn't care.

Sharky totally proposed in the heat of the moment, or just when they were chilling out together, and it kind of slipped out.

He was #shook the Dep said yes, because he would plan out a whole thing with fire and explosions, but he's glad that he doesn't have to figure out the logistics of having fireworks spell out "will you marry me" in the sky.

He respects the tradition of not seeing the the bride in the dress before the wedding.

He wants to be involved, the part of him that wants to know very last detail really wants him to be involved but he controls himself, for the most part.

He has Faith be his eyes on the inside and John convinces the Dep to let Faith come.

John really just wants to know if the Dep is sticking to the general theme of their wedding, which is very like upscale bougie type deals.

The Dep definitely wants to pay for her own dress with her own money, not relying on John, so her budget is really tight.

She doesn't like relying on John or his wealth.

Dep knows that it would drive John crazy if she isnt on brand, and while for everyday life she'll mess with John she won't for their wedding.

So she tries really hard to match the aesthetic John is going for, and there's a few dresses that she likes that are in her budget and that sort of match the theme and she's planning on getting the one she likes the most.

Until Faith brings a dress that Rook absolutely adores, it's like perfect in every way. Until she sees the price tag and it's way over her budget.

And the Dep is like in tears because she wanted to be able to do this one thing since John does so much.

Faith calls John who is trying to be the voice of reason, because he knows this is important to the Dep.

Eventually John talks the Dep down from the ledge with help from Kim and Faith and they come to an agreement.

John went all out with the ring. It's one of the most extra looking things.

He loves her and he thinks she put the stars In the sky and wants the whole world to know that.

John talks a big game and he's usually very confident in appearance, but he's got a pretty low opinion of himself.

He kept his proposal lowkey, just in case he's right and the Dep actually hates him. He doesn't want the whole county to know.

To his own surprise the Dep says yes and he couldn't be happier.

He hasn't been this happy since Joseph and Jacob came back into his life. He gets to experience a loving family.

Joseph

They're going to have a really simple wedding. Just family and close friends.

Dep isn't looking for a super fancy dress, just something simple.

They're ceremony has a backyard sort of feel, and its during the hot Montana summer.

So she doesn't really want heavy layers.

Joseph has been through a wedding before, his first marriage had been just signing papers at the courthouse, this was an ACTUAL ceremony.

The Dep doesn't want to replace Joseph's late wife and they have a really long conversation about it.

Joseph can't help but see the similarities between them, and he can also appreciate there differences.

He planned out his proposal, he had a super romantic dinner and he and the Dep reminisced about how they met and some of their favorite memories.

Joseph would probably go for a simple ring, probably just matching gold bands no diamonds or anything.

The Dep and Joseph DIY most of their wedding decorations.

Joseph's congregation are also really generous, they help out while putting together some of the bigger decorations.

Joseph, who is usually calm and collected, is shaking with nerves on the big day.

Even getting married to his first wife he wasn't THIS nervous.

All his fears melt away when he sees her coming down the aisle.

Jacob

I'm personally a fan of the "Jacob was married" backstory that we never got to experience.

Tbh, I think Jacob probably married young, like a lot of military guys do, and between his deployments and his PTSD, it got to his wife, and she being young herself couldn't deal so they divorced.

That experience probably made Jacob really anti marriage, he felt abandoned and alone.

He only started to waiver in his beliefs after he'd been dating the Dep awhile.

The Dep would have to warm him up to the idea, and she'd probably have to be the one to propose too.

Jacob fully intends to wear a tshirt and jeans but John has a fit.

So the Dep is excited! She's getting married! Her friends are more or less supportive, there's a few comments about the age difference but Dep has had plenty of time to think about that.

Jacob is kind of insecure about that too, not that he'd ever say it out loud to anyone but Dep or Joseph.

Jacob literally only let's a handful of people even know that they're engaged, even less are invited to the wedding.

Jacob doesn't think he's going to feel any differently for the Dep after they get married, he thinks that their wedding is only going to be an inconvenience.

He doesn't like to admit that he MAY have shed a tear when he first saw the Dep coming down the aisle.

He didn't think he would love again, and he definitely never thought he'd marry again.

The Dep didn't go overboard dress shopping, she'd want something simple.

Jacob doesn't understand how someone as great as the Dep could ever want him, but he's glad that she convinced him to marry her.

The Dep goes all out on her own ring but she knows Jacob wants something simple.

Speaking of costume choices in HSMTMTS maybe it’s just me but Gina’s Babette costume reminds me a mixture of Taylor McKessie’s black and white polka dot dress she wore in the musical number “Everyday” and Gabriella Montez’s maid outfit in the musical number “I Want It All.” I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not I just want to point out the Gina’s Babette costume looks like Taylor polka dot dress and Gabriella maid outfit.

tbh talking about costuming is kinda fun because it's like- choices are made intentionally to a certain degree, especially on this sort of show.

something olivia rose keegan talked about in one of her interviews was that one of the coolest things for her about doing hsmtmts versus all her work on days of our lives (and just soaps in general), was that they had the luxury of time. she said they sat down the first day talking for like several hours to talk about what to do with her hair, what would make sense for her character. versus with soaps it's very go go go, and they're shooting like as many as 70 scenes in a single day as opposed to like 4 tops for hsmtmts. they have time to make very intentional choices about what kind of clothes make sense for the character.

obviously, gina's babette dress is slightly different than most wardrobe because it's a "costume" in a more literal sense. it's for the show within the show. gina's playing a character. so the ramifications of her wearing the dress are less in tune with what her actual character, gina, has going on, versus her typical wardrobe may have such implications.

as far as it being similar to the maid outfit from hsm3 for "i want it all", that's probably not intended as a parallel and i can say that with confidence. gina's character in beauty and the beast is babette, who's a feather duster, yes, but what she actually is is the 'french maid' character. which is what they were going for when they styled gabriella for the scene. if you google french maid dress / french maid costume, what gabriella is wearing is approximately what your search results will give you. i'm not going to get into the racist implications of gabriella being sharpay's maid in her fantasy... but i wanted to note that they're there if i'm putting a photo of it in my post.

the polka dots are fun, and it's something different than the stereotypical french maid outfit, which is a nice way of doing it, particularly since it's kourtney 'making' the costumes. whether that means sourcing or sewing or restyling pieces. so it's fun, she's not just the standard 'french maid'. though my search did have some french maid costumes with polka dots, which i didn't expect. so that's cool.

as to taylor's dress from "everyday", i admittedly didn't remember it, and idk if they're super dedicated to those sorts of references, particularly given this is just gina's costume for the musical, but it is possible? even if it's not an intentional callback (and we have no way of truly knowing), i do see what you're saying about the similar vibes in a certain sense.

the black and white polka dots for one thing, and the main thing. (black and white is bc she's the french maid character, but it's still similar to taylor's dress). the waist is "corseted" (not the right word i don't think but y'all can see what i mean) on gina's dress, as opposed to that thick ribbon with the laced edges around taylor's (gosh this dress is such a product of the era the movie was produced), but it creates a belted effect? which is similar? i think the biggest difference (beyond the apron and the fact that gina's skirt is very feather duster-y, bc she's playing a feather duster, is the top of the dress.

i do think they're probably just two different dresses that happen to have black and white polka dots on them. but that doesn't mean that the costume designer didn't see it and be like oh that's kind of fun, that kinda reminds me of the dress from the original films. i don't think it means anything in terms of character that the dresses have this similarity, because it is gina's babette costume, and that doesn't have the same ramifications i don't think, but hey- it's fun! and if you want to think of it as a parallel (visually it sorta is, even if it's not a character thing), go right ahead!

it was !! it helped an awful lot, i came out of it a better person. someone more confident. and while i still get my bad days, i'm happier and in a better place mental health wise because of therapy. i've had anxiety attacks since therapy but they're less frequent :) i agree and i wish it was less expensive. one of my close friends who lives in america can't get therapy because it's too expensive for her :(

i used to work Sundays in my old job and honestly? kinda liked them. it was always dead so there was more chat, people ordered pizza and we'd be lucky if we had two calls. it was bliss <3 my current job aren't open on Sundays. just Monday to Saturday. but we're on a 5 week rotation so i only work one saturday every 5 weeks so it's not bad !! 🌿 aw that's amazing !! i hope that continues for you 💞 i'm off today because this week is my saturday shift so i'm just chilling today ❤️‍🔥

speaking of caffeine, i had a french vanilla drink today (and ofc i got the smallest size) because i was so utterly sleepy during my first two periods at school and guess what it did to me (”: i ended up taking like 5 naps throughout the day because i felt so exhausted... thankfully my anxiety didn’t go up the roof but i think that’s purely because i just slept through whatever emotions i had LMFAO i thought it would keep me up and it would fix my need to take a nap in the middle of the day but unfortunately, it only messed it up more ;; hopefully i’ll be able to recover (planning to sleep early tonight to see how that goes) 

a bit of a tangent off that top but i used to obsessively drink hot chocolate as though it would keep me up... (<- still does that tbh) PAHHAH hot chocolate is super sweet so it’s not like it actually does anything but i think i convinced myself it does so therefore, i end up do staying up whenever i drink it (placebo effect at its finest) 

ahh.. i think the way that therapy works in any north american system sucks ass LOL (pardon my language) i’m thankful for those who acc are helpful and are beneficial to people’s lives but i truly think people preaching that ‘mental health support is accessible to anyone’ are slightly overreaching (not to be pessimistic) but i won’t go too much into that and rant about my personal experience (”: once again, i’m glad you were able to get the help you needed and come out of it as a better person <3 

i’m really glad i did end up dropping the course ! i have more free time to work on other things and actually begin investing time into healthier work habits/schedule (<- is dying as we speak) but i’m grateful nonetheless for the window of opportunity to finally be able to make a noticeable change in my bad habits.... oh no ): please take it easy... if things ever get too hard, please remember to take a step back and take care of yourself. obviously that’s easier said than done but still important nonetheless.

So, first of all, I am super excited to have found somebody as excited about the clone as I am. I've been thinking about it a lot since Butch posted his video. But, I'm confused, because I thought this was ten years into the future? Wouldn't original Danny be older? Like 24 I think? Aside from that, you guys got some really good ideas about this character, and I've been laughing at some of the comments for a good few minutes.

Which, isunderstandable, everyone has their tastes, and I agree that most ofthem are just…..Put Them Back embodiments, but it was still sad tosee so little interest in the Clone.

Because its such a good idea ripe withpotential, both for TUE levels of darkness and for hilariousscenarios. For once (ONCE) Butch has done okay by me.

And now to actually answer yourquestion, lmao: Yes, you are correct, the original concept was Vladfor ten years into the future, with a teenage Danny clone (I do admitthat’s super squick, like Vlad do you have no other hobbies besidesbeing fucking creepy? Go outside and play some tennis my dude.) sincethe video was a part 2 to the original Phantom concepts for the tenyear anniversary. However, at least in the ideas and concepts I’vebeen talking about and personally throwing around, I’ve gotten rid ofthe ten year span.

Because it literally doesn’t makesense.

I have contempt for the officialPhantom timeline bc its so inconsistent, but a majority of peoplehave it taking place over a two year time span, based on the twosummer episodes. (This is something I personally don’t agree with,but I have no evidence to argue it so I’m stuck like a petulantchild grumbling in the corner) and Vlad gives Valerie her gear in S1Ep10, Shades of Grey. I cannot recall if it was specifically statedin canon Vlad was using her to get Danny’s DNA, but I’m trustingthe wiki bc I really don’t want to endure re-watching Kindred Spiritsand D-Stabalized. If we assume that this had been Vlad’s goal fromthe start (something I disagree with and will touch more aboutbelow), that means that he’s been gathering Danny’s DNA for about ayear to two years if we estimate heavily with the nonsense timebetween the episodes.

In that time span, he figured out howto do the cloning, built the equipment, went through countlessprototypes to figure out all the bumps and snags, made severaldecently “functional” clones (Dani and the one he fucking murdersas a display), made the “perfect” one, and figured out exactlywhat he needed to stabilize an artificial hybrid of ghost and humanorigin.

In two years max.

It would not take him ten fuckin yearsto recreate a successful perfect clone. Even if everything wasdestroyed twice and he lost Valerie’s “assistance”. And thereason for that is because he already knows how. The hard part isdone. Once you know how to do something through so much trial anderror, you know what not to do and what you should do the nexttime around. Vlad doesn’t need to re-figure out how to make astable, perfect clone again, he can just get the equipment, the DNA,whatever and just do it.

Which he was most likely attemptingto already do in D-stabilized.

Why do you think hewas going after Dani? Why would he want that information of “Whyare you so stable?” if he wasn’t trying again? If he wasn’t at thepoint that he NEEDED to stabilize something? For future knowledge?Please. If Vlad was truly going to make another perfect clone, hewould not wait several months after loosing the first doing literallynothing but tormenting Danny and being an ass, nor until after he’sfigured out Dani. He was working on the Clone project for a long timeunder everyone’s noses in the first place, so who’s to say he wasn’tagain?

I’m saying Vlad wasliterally within inches of succeeding in D-stabalized. That healready had a second Clone ready to stabilize.

[Edit: I was incorrect in thinkingVlad only wanted Dani to learn why she’s stable, he wanted to use herto make another perfect clone. I was close, but not close enough. Iam still standing by my theory, however, canon can suck it. It’sstill at least feasible.]

Hartman suggestedin the video, as I’m sure you know, that the Clone (I call himDaniel bc there’s literally no way he’s not namedDaniel.) has some of Vlad in him. And this, my friend, melds so well with where canon dropped off.

Vlad wanted andattempted to stabilize the clones with Danny’s full DNA, probably soit would be 100% Danny, enough to the point he was willing to murderDani to figure her out/use her. However, after failing to get themid-morph from Danny (failure 1) and failing to get anything fromDani (failure 2), Vlad would be unlikely to try the same thingsagain. I would also like to think he’d also be unlikely to continuing to announce “OI I’M CLONEING YOU” to Danny, but it’sVlad so you never know.

He would be forcedto think of something else.

There is nothing incanon suggesting that Vlad couldn’t use his own mid-morph tostabalize a clone. He never brings it up, never explains why themid-morph is the critical link aside from the fact that it just is.There’s very little info about just how these clones are made, sothere’s no known rules to what could work and what wouldn’t. A possible reason this might not work is that it could function likebody parts or blood types, where you need a match in order for it tobe properly accepted. In that case, however, its just figuring outwhat you need to tweak in order to force an acceptance, somethingprobably made easier to do when you’re in control of the entiregenetic sequence you’re fiddling with.

This would not taketen years to do. None of it would. It would take at most, I think ayear. Maybe two, but that’s pushing it. I also have a theorythat Vlad was being so obtuse in Season 3 was to purposefullydistract Danny, but take that as you will.

This is all of myfancy way of explaining why my personal ideas are set so close to theactual canon and kicking that gross ten years to the curb.

As for my forgotten notion about why Idon’t think Vlad started cloning from Valerie’s beginning was becauseVlad was still mostly focused on Maddie up until Maternal Instincts,which occurs 6 episodes after Shades of Grey. Shades of Greyis only three episodes from Bitter Reunions as well.That’s a pretty small amount of time for someone still (reasonably)sane to go “I liked that kid, I want him to be my son. I shouldclone him.”

I’d also like to state that in the fourepisodes Vlad appears in before Kindred Spirits (not including TUE)but after Maternal Instincts, not once is his main goal Danny.Nor is it ever Maddie, either. Danny becomes a factor in MillionDollar Ghost, however his main goal is still stealing the portal. InReign Storm, he’s more inclined to use Danny than to try to make himhis son, bc again: his goal is the artifacts. In Secret Weapons, Vladisn’t even interested in Danny when he’s dropped in the middleof his lab. Tbh, I can’t for the life of me figure out what Vlad’sgoal was in the whole sibling battle thing, he really just fucked hisplans up himself in that one. In Masters of All Time, his goal wasthe cure, and again, had no problems using Danny as a pawn.

Kindred Spirits is the first place inthe entire series where we see the extent of how far he’s willing togo to get Danny to be his son. The first episode where it’s his maingoal.

I just realized how close MaoT andKinSpirits are, I wonder if Vlad triggered the Ectoacne flare workingwith the ectoplasm for the clones? Hmmm, interesting.

Anyway, the point is: Vlad kept hiscloning stuff a secret, but for how long remains a mystery. Mostlybecause there’s no point in time where it becomes obvious just howdesperate he is to have Danny. Is it when he saw an opportunity withValerie? Or is it after Danny ruins his attempts to get the Ring ofRage back from Pariah by blowing up the ectosuit so he was just like“Well fuck, now what do I do to keep myself busy?”

Getting back onto the topic of Cloneand Original Danny, there’s a second, lesser reason I’ve personallybumped the time skip, and that’s because there would be literallyZero conflict between a 14 year old and a 24 year old.

OlderDanny would kick his ass, trainingfrom Vlad be damned.

OlderDanny would also not be fazed asmuch as a younger Danny as his identity being perverted by a clone.This is because the age gap would automatically render them as beingtwo different people. OlderDanny would not see the clone as himself,at least not fully, because he’s already a mature adult. The clonecould not torment Danny with the fact that he’s him, that he’sstealing anything, that he’s threatening his notion of being andsense of self. Because OlderDanny has nothing to fear about a youngerversion of himself; he’s stronger, wiser, and different enough. Thedynamic simply doesn’t work. This is why Danny could be okay withDani: he doesn’t see himself in her. He doesn’t think of her as aclone, as the doppelganger. Because she’s a girl, she’s younger,she’s different. She isn’t him in his eyes.

With an identical copy, that’s notsomething you can avoid or ignore. Can’t deny that its not your facetwisting into that evil smirk that looks so wrong because itsfamiliar but not. Its you, but its not, and its uncomfortable,its an invasion of privacy, the ultimate identity theft. Its a personthat wears your face, sees with your eyes, speaks with your voice,thinks with your brain, and bleeds with your blood. And yet its notyou.

The closest thing Danny had to this wasDan. But Dan could be defeated. Dan could be made so that he neverexisted in the first place, completely avoided.

Daniel could not.

Daniel’s creation is out of Danny’scontrol, his existence never takes into account what Danny wants orcares, because its done at Vlad’s whims. And that’s the worstpart: the lack of control. To know that an identical yet completelywrong version of yourself exists against your will and you haveabsolutely no control over it is torture, especially for someone whoalready had cause to fear himself once before. Sure, Danny can fightDaniel, suck him up into a thermos, and maybe kick it into the ghostzone to try to be rid of him forever, but he would still existand he could always come back. Unlike Dan.  And there’snothing Danny could do about it.

What even could be do? Try todestabilize him? Ask clockwork to erase him from existence? Lock himin a thermos and bury him deep in the ice caps? Kill him?

Would Danny truly be the person to tryany of those?

In other words, the closer Daniel is tobeing like Danny, the worse effect it would have. So its all aboutmaximizing that to get the full potential of the conflict. Dannyneeds a reason to see Daniel’s creation as the ultimate line crossed,the “This has gone too far” moment. Danny needs a reasonto not only despise, but fear his clone.

There are some….problems, with this,and I’ve already used them in my argument: the fact that it another you is too different, you stop seeing it as yourself. AndDaniel is not an identical copy. He has aspects of Vlad in him.There’s a very fine line to be walked, between Daniel being similarenough that it hurts Danny while being different enough to count as adifferent character. The design alone might already doom it. But fuckit, you people can pry my inverted skunk haired baby from my colddead hands.

I realize that this is a very longresponse, and very little of it pertains to what you asked. However,I hope you enjoyed my analysis and my explanation of my personalreasoning. This was a lot of fun to talk about (I can’t remember if Igot into some of the things in other asks or if I’m recalling themfrom a thing I was gonna post but hasn’t gotten to yet. If thereare repeat things, I’m sorry! My memory is v bad.) and I thank youfor the ask!

I also realize that a majority of thisask talks about making Daniel Danny’s worst enemy, which goes againstthe “They slowly become bed buds” ask I got earlier. I receivedthat ask before I really had any ideas of what to do with Daniel, andsince I’m loving this worst enemy idea, the conflict isunderstandable. The friend idea is still on the table tho! All itneeds now is a climax, a trigger, a turning point. Something thatchanges the dynamic to start that “I hate you, but not as much as Idid, and I kinda sorta enjoy your company a little bit.” ball a’rollin.

My Opinion on;

Character in general: Maiilys!!!! is!!! so cool???? No, really, I just think she’s SUCH a well written, well developed, complex, fascinating OC! She’s the kind of character I would want to read an entire book about. Tbh, she’d be a super interesting heroine--especially bc she isn’t the typical heroine. She’s bitter, she’s cold, she’s kinda mean sometimes, and by all accounts a lot of people would probably find her unlikable, bu that’s just part of her complexity. She’s also lonely, hard working, intelligent, and caring in her own, particular way. If she was the main character of a book series, I’d probably read the heck out of it. Whether she’s playing Maiilys as an original character or a fandom character, I don’t care, she’s awesome. (bonus: her character design and the way Chenny draws her is so unique, I just adore it. Chenny has super cool art!!!)How they play them: Did I kind of answer this already??? Well, I’ll say it again--I like the way Chenny plays Maiilys bc she doesn’t temper down Maiilys’s negative traits. That’s what makes her complex. Chenny plays her in a multifaceted, 3-dimensional way that just brings her to life! Harsh but such a softie when you really get down to it......A hard shell that needs to be loved....Plus her writing is so nice!!!! It makes her enjoyable to RP with.The Mun: Chenny deserves so many good things in this world........she really puts a ton of thought and work into her characters?? And her ART is so COOL in its own, very different way? PLUS she’s never been anything but a complete sweetheart to me, and i hope she can find the confidence and security in her work that she deserves, bc honestly it’s A+ shit.
