ABSTRACT
The newt genus Tylototriton is widely distributed in east, southeast, and south Asia. Previous studies have shown that basic surveys of this genus are far from comprehensive, and unknown species still exist within the group. In this study, we described a new species of this genus,  Tylototriton gaowangjienensis sp. nov., from Gaowangjie National Nature Reserve in Hunan Province, China, based on evidence from molecular identification and morphological comparisons...

The team behind last year's hit series Kiseki: Dear to Me is bringing us a new original show, See Your Love, which is being jointly produced by Taiwan and Japan. It will tell the story of Zi Xiang (played by Lin Yu), a third-generation rich kid who runs away from taking over the family business and accidentally falls for Shao Peng (played by Kim Yun), a hard-of-hearing caretaker.
The story is inspired by director Chiang Ping Chen's interactions with his hard-of-hearing uncle since childhood. He shared, "Even though my uncle lost his hearing, he believed even more firmly than many that to love means not giving up easily."
Screenwriter/producer Lin Pei Yu said, "This time, we tried for a change in perspective, not being able to hear is not about losing one's hearing, rather, it's about learning to communicate through a different language. We hope that through See Your Love, we'll be able to show that love is not limited in form and meaning. Additionally, we hope to contribute, however little, to the promotion of Deaf culture."
To get into his role, Kim Yun immersed himself in silence as much as possible and took intensive sign language classes with Lin Yu. "Sign language is a completely new language to me. Some words I could picture through association, but some of the others I need to double down and memorize them. Getting the hang of it is no simple feat," said Kim Yun.

Qi Ye cast poster!!
This had started as a sketch, waaay back as I was still reading Qi Ye. The original is pretty different from this (I considered adding it in the post but I actually don't like it anymore haha), but the plan was already to make this big spread with most of the -more or less- important cast.
I will add here some thoughts about the whole piece, and I guess, Qi Ye itself. My main goal was probably to express my deep and intense feelings for Qi Ye, its grandness, and its awesome cast-- and along with that, flesh out my mental image of each of them, their personality, their style. Here is a table with the names, so we know who is whom, and so I can add some details about my perspective on them and their design.
Tumblr media
Jing Beiyuan has always come quite naturally. I just go for the "prettiest face" I ever came with in terms of : my own taste, and the features I find the most delicate. I'd argue he's the easiest character to draw for me across both QY and TYK. On this image, he's probably around 16 or 17. I find his expressions to be very fun to work on in general.
Ping An is also quite an easy character to draw, just for how specific Priest is when describing him.
Wu Xi's design is mainly inspired by a discussion with my friend Hanya, who talked about how, in SHL, Wu Xi more resembled a northern shaman than a southern shaman. It made me want to explore the designs and characteristics a bit more, and come up with more colourful fabrics, patterns, and darker skin color. Same goes for Ashinlae and Nuahar, to have them matching Wu Xi's aesthetic.
Ming Hua was included in this just because of the mess the mention of his name caused in the story. The two jealousy tantrums are just so delightful!!
Su Qingluan was made to resemble Jing Beiyuan, of course. What I wanted to reflect in her face was her frustration, mainly.
Ji Xiang and Hua Yue... Well. Nothing particular about their design either, but they had to be there. Of course, of course they had to be there.
Finally, an opportunity to draw Zishu with his fan and henchmen! Not mad that he kinda looks like a villain, here.
Lu Yu!! I drew him with an Ashinlae mask, since he disguises himself as Ashinlae. I included him because he matters a lot in my headcanons about Siji Manor. (it isn't specified, in Qi Ye, whether or not he's actually part of the manor, but I like to consider that he is for various reason that I may detail if I ever make a Siji Manor post)
I'll skip Jiang Xue and Liang Jiuxiao because their designs are steady for me, now.
I hesitated a lot for Helian Pei's pose, but ended up going for this one (looking bored, out of his depth, lost in the distance with his birds around him). I considered showing him with a bird in his hands, but I guess that's not the main vibe I get from him. And then, well, golden, flashy clothing, suited for an emperor.
Helian Zhao had to be in a showy armor, and I hated making it because it's so much work, haha. I took inspiration from an armor in NiF. I'm quite happy with how he came out in terms of both vibe and showiness.
I tried going full out on Helian Qi. Making him the villain that Qi Ye deserved. Dark, showy, elegant and horrible.
Helian Yi is also pretty solid for me, by now.
About the illustration itself, the main challenge was definitely to make a nice colour palette while still differenciating all the characters. I wanted to go with something intense, eerie, that could also complement the main tones I would go for (= red, purple, blue and green). I'm quite happy with how the golden tones, along with the green and reddish lights, make the whole thing come together. I struggled a little bit with the composition at first, but once I got the flow and the main figures down, it just happened quite easily. Anyway, I'm quite proud of this, and hope it conveys the love and admiration I have for Qi Ye well.

Welcome to the 'Best Character with [X] surname' polls!
This is where I take several characters from different Chinese media (mostly cnovels and cdrama) and run a poll on which one is the 'best'. What does best mean? It's up to you! Whether you love them, are intrigued by their characters, love to hate them, or they're your '2 second blorbos whose personality you made up wholesale', these are all reasons for you to vote for your favs!
NB: the surnames are not exactly the same in all the cases, as often they will be a different character. I am, however, grouping them all together otherwise things got more complicated.
If you can't find a surname, it's because I couldn't find enough candidates (at least 3 from 3 distinct medias) to compete. Feel free to submit candidates!
I will be posting several polls at a time, so do come back and check this masterpost to remember which polls are ongoing, who the winners are, and who's coming up next!
Finished polls: Xing/Rong/Nan/Ren/Pan/Qu/Fu/Sui/Tan/You/Sima/Xuan/Chang/Xun/Shangguan/Jian/Qian/Shu/Xi/Yuwen/Cai/Sha/Yin/Ceng/Helian/Zeng/Lou/Mi/Ji/Ping/Tong/Tuoba/Ge/Murong/Hei/Niu/Tao/Si/Pang/Zi/Gongsun/Mao/Qing/Lian

Origin of the Western Qiang, Part 2 (HHS087)
[The history of peoples collectively known as Rong from the end of Western Zhou until the destruction of the Yiqu kingdom by Qin in 272 BC.]
During King Yi [of Zhou, r. 885 – 878 BC] there was decline and weakness, and the Wild Domain did not come to court. Therefore he instructed the Duke of Zong to lead the Six Regiments and attack the Rong of Taiyuan. He arrived at Yuquan, and captured a thousand horses.
King Yi was King Mu's grandson, his personal name was Xie
King Li [877 – 841 BC] had not the Way, and the Rong and Di robbed and plundered. They then entered Quanqiu and killed the kin of Qinzhong. The King instructed to attack the Rong, but they did not overcome.
Reaching the fourth year of King Xuan's reign [824 BC], he sent Qinzhong to attack the Rong. He was killed by the Rong. The King therefore summoned Qinzhong's son, Duke Zhuang [of Qin, r. 822 – 778 BC], and gave him 7 000 troops. He attacked the Rong and routed them, and because of that held them back a little. Twenty-seven years later [797 BC], the King dispatched troops to attack the Rong of Taiyuan, they did not overcome. Five years later [792 BC], the King attacked the Tiao Rong and the Ben Rong. The king's regiments were defeated. Two years later [790 BC], the people of Jin defeated the Northern Rong at Fenxi. The Rong people wiped out the district of the Marquis of Jiang. Next year [789 BC], the King campaigned against Shen Rong, and routed them.
Ten years later [779 BC], King You instructed Boshi to attack the Rong of Liuji. The army was defeated and Boshi died there. That year, the Rong besieged Quanqiu, and captured Duke Xiang of Qin's older brother Bofu. At the time King You was muddled and oppressive, and the Four Barbarians invaded one after the other. Thereupon he deposed the Queen Shen and installed Baosi. The Marquis of Shen was angry and together with the Rong robbed Zhou. They killed King You at Li Mountain [in 771 BC], and Zhou then moved east to Luoyi. Duke Xiang of Qin [r. 777 – 766 BC], attacked the Rong and saved Zhou. Two years later [769 BC?], the Marquis of Xing greatly routed the Northern Rong.
Reaching the end of King Ping [r. 770 – 720 BC], Zhou thereupon waned for a long time. The Rong pressured the various Xia. From Long Mountain and eastward, reaching the Yi and Luo, the Rong were present here and there. From that point, the headwaters of the Wei had the Rong of Di, Kai, Gui, and Ji. North of the Jing there were the Rong of Yiqu. In the Luo river-lands there were the Rong of Dali. South of the Wei there were the Li Rong. Between the Yi and Luo there were the Rong of Yangju and Quangao. Westward from the headwaters of the Ying there where the Rong of Manshi.
During the Spring and Autumn period, they were interspersed among the Central States, and made pacts and held assemblies with the various Xia. Duke Zhuang of Lu attacked Qin and defeated the Rong of Gui and Ji.
In the Zuo Transmittals' 18th Year of Duke Zhuang [684 BC], the Duke pursued the Rong to Jixi. In Du Yu's annotations, the Rong invaded Lu. The people of Lu did not know about, after they had left, they then pursued them. 24th Year [678 BC], the Rong invaded Cao.
About ten years later, Jin wiped out the Li Rong. At that time the Rong of Yi and Luo were strong, and to the east they invaded Cao and Lu. Nineteen years later [in 649 BC], the thereupon entered the King's city. At that point Qin and Jin attacked the Rong to save Zhou. Two years later [647 BC], they again robbed the imperial capital. Duke Huan of Qi [685 – 643 BC] summoned the various feudal lords to defend Zhou. Nine years later [638 BC], the Rong of Luhun moved from Guazhou to the Yi river-lands. The Rong of Yunxing moved to within the Wei, to the east reaching unto Huanyuan. Those located north of the Henan Mountain were called the Yin Rong. The offspring of the Yin Rong thereupon multiplied widely.
Duke Wen of Jin [r. 636 – 628 BC] wished to put in place a legacy of hegemony, and therefore rewarded the Rong and Di for opening the roads, and so succoured the royal house. Duke Mu of Qin [r. 659 – 621 BC] obtained Youyu, a man of the Rong, thereupon had hegemony over the Western Rong, enlaring his territory a thousand li.
Youyu had previously been man of Jin who absconded to enter among the Rong. The King of the Rong heard that Duke Mu was worthy, and sent Youyu to observe Qin. Duke Mu of Qin treated him with the courtesy due to a guest. Qin dispatched to the King of the Rong female musicians. Youyu admonished [the Rong King], but was not heeded. Youyu therefore surrendered to Qin and made plans for attacking the Rong.
Reaching Duke Dao Jin [572 – 558 BC], he sent Wei Jiang to make peace with the various Rong, and managed to put in place a legacy of hegemony. At that time, Chu and Jin were strong and flourishing, and awed into submission the various Rong. The Luhun, Yi, Luo, and Yin Rong served Jin, and the Manshi followed followed Chu.
Wei Jiang was a grandee of Jin. See the Zuo Transmittals' 11th Year of Duke Xiang. [562 BC]
Later the Luhun rebelled against Jin. Jin ordered Xun Wu to wipe them out. Forty-four years later, Chu seized the Manshi, and fully took their people prisoner. At that time Yiqu and Dali were extremely strong. They build several tens of cities, and both declared themselves Kings.
Xun Wu was the son of Jin's grandee Zhonghang Muzi. See the Zuo Transmittals' 1st Year of Duke Zhao. [541 BC]
Arriving at the 8th Year of King Zhen of Zhou [461 BC], Duke Li of Qin [r. 476 – 443 BC] wiped out Dali, and seized their territory. Zhao likewise wiped out the Dai Rong, which were precisely the Northern Rong. Han# and Wei then together gradually annexed the Yi, Luo, and Yin Rong, and wiped them out. Those of their remnants who escaped all fled west across the Qian and Long [Mountians]. From that point, the Central States had no Rong robbers, and there only remained the Yiqu of them.
25th Year of King Zhen [444 BC], Qin attacked Yiqu and captured their king. About a hundred years later [331 BC], Yiqu defeated the Qin regiments at Luo. Four years later [327 BC], the state of Yiqu was in chaos. King Hui of Qin dispatched the Chief of Multitudes Cao to bring troops and settle them. Yiqu thereupon became subject to Qin. Eight years later [319 BC], Qin attacked Yiqu, and took Yuzhi. Two years later [317 BC], Yiqu defeated the Qin regiments at Libo. Next year [316 BC], Qin attacked Yiqu, and took the twenty-five cities of Tujing.
Reaching King Zhao's instalment [in 306 BC], the King of Yiqu came to court in Qin. Thereupon he had intercourse with King Zhao's mother, Queen Dowager Xuan, and they begot two sons. Arriving at the 43rd Year of King Nan [of Zhou, 272 BC], Empress Dowager Xuan lured and killed the King of Yiqu at the Ganquan Palace. Following that, they raised troops and wiped them out, and first set up Longxi, Beidi, and Shang commanderies there.
The Rong originally had no lords or chiefs. At the end of the Xiahou clan and at the juncture of Shang and Zhou, some of them followed the feudal lords on campaigns and attacks and had merit. The Son of Heaven gave them feudal ranks and used them as the Vassal Domain. In the time of Spring of Autumn, the Luhun and Mangshi Rong claimed to be Counts [zi], and in the Warring States period, Dali and Yiqu claimed to be Kings. Reaching their decline and destruction, the remnants of their kind all turned back to their old customs and became chieftains.

Country: Taiwan

Summary
Jin Xun An, a promising achiever, is already the chief dentist at his dental clinic at a young age. Although cold-hearted and distant by appearance, Jin Xun An has nevertheless earned himself the coveted title of being the "Master Prince of Dentistry". One day, he is entrusted by Bai Qing, one of his seniors, to treat her precious little brother, Bai Lang.
As Bai Lang seats himself in front of Jin Xun An, he looks at the man with a cold and ruthless look. And while a mask covers most of Jin Xuan An's face, it only helps highlight his deep, electric eyes. Bai Lang then hears his gentle and soothing voice telling him not to be afraid. But almost instantaneously, he finds himself stunned, his heart palpitating and finding a desperate excuse to run away. As it turns out that Bai Lang is not the first dental patient to try to run away from Jin Xun An, but definitely the most troublesome since Jin Xuan An started his career.

Review: Down With Love (2010)
I felt a little nostalgic this week and decided to rewatch Down With Love, a romcom out of Taiwan featuring Ella Chen (from Hana Kimi) and Jerry Yan (Meteor Garden).
This is more of a brain dump as opposed to a real review. More below the cut.
Let me just start with the fact I love dramas with tomboys, gender benders, and gender non-conforming women and girls in general. I'm a 40 yr old gnc bi-woman, so some of these storylines really resonate with me - despite the trend of making those female characters glaringly stupid and pitiable.
Tags: Nanny, Love Square, Tomboy, Male Chases Female First, Sismance, Rich Man/Poor Woman, Pretends To Be Gay, Single Parent, Sisterhood, Boss/Employee Relationship
Our girl Ella Chen plays tomboy Yang Guo. Yang Guo works, has friends, and a shitty boyfriend of 5 years. She acts naïve, but she actually has a lot of life experience due to a *tragic backstory*. After her mother died, her father ruined the family business. Their family plunged from riches to rags and their father abandoned them. Yang Guo is 6 when this happens and it falls on her older sister Yang Duo to raise them both while homeless, starving, and navigating the homeless camps in the parks of Taipei.
Yang Duo (Kelly Huang) has raised her little sister by herself, beginning from poverty and homelessness to having a house and making a life for themselves. They bicker good-naturedly, but Yang Duo is very protective and supportive of her sister. She's managed to earn a job at a prestigious law firm as an admin assistant with strong accounting skills. She is seen as frugal, clever, and competent. Several characters make comments throughout the series about how it was a shame that she didn't go into certain careers because she's so accomplished despite not having a formal education. It's obvious that Yang Duo has put her own dreams and happiness on hold to make sure that she and Guo have financial security. Yang Duo is my favorite character btw. She is a supporting character that is multi-faceted and has her own character arc. I really like seeing her growth in this drama, and she gets some cute side couple action later in the series. Skip the last episode.
Due to growing up in poverty and scrabbling to lower-middle-class, the two girls work nonstop. After Guo is fired from her job waiting tables, Duo gets Guo a job as a nanny for her boss Xiang Yu Ping by lying and saying Guo is a lesbian.
Xiang Yu Ping (Jerry Yan) owns his own law firm and is seen as cold and overbearing. He is raising his dead brother's kids and none of the nannies he's hired have lasted either due to being chased off by the kids (a la the Sound of Music) or by trying to seduce him because he's a rich handsome lawyer. Relieved to have found a nanny who definitely wouldn't seduce him (because he thinks she's a lesbian), he just pays an unreasonably huge salary to keep her there with the kids despite their abuse.
Supporting characters: Amanda Chu as the best friend Yan Ling with the messy dating life is also delightful, but I've enjoyed all her roles. I may rewatch Lion Pride for her, now that I'm walking down memory lane. The office of 'just some lawyer dudes being dudes' are funny. I love when they gather around to watch drama and place bets on what's happening. They're also slackers. I would love/hate to work with them.
So that's the setup.
Honestly, I hate the 'pretends to be gay' plots. It's typically really offensive and this was no exception in a lot of places. (It's not at the same level as Personal Taste, but it's bad.) One of the cases Yu Ping takes on is unlawful termination and blackmail of a gay teacher and he asks for Yang Guo's advice to help the man. Taiwan was trying in 2010, but it wasn't exactly good representation to have a fake lesbian help an actual gay man faced with employment discrimination and blackmail over his orientation. When I compare this with Love is Science (2021 twdrama) that has two out lgbt characters employed in their office with significant roles, I'm just so happy that lgbtq media representation is still progressing.
I don't care about Yu Ping's best friend Qi Ke Zhong or Yu Ping's ex-girlfriend Ding Hui Fan because they're both terrible people that don't deserve forgiveness and their only purpose was to drag out our leads getting together. Since this was a rewatch, I knew how much I hated their scenes and skipped them as much as I could. You're not missing anything. Someone on YT needs to just make a Yang Duo/Xiang Yu Ping cut, tbh. Also? Go ahead and skip the deadbeat father.
The nanny bit only lasts three episodes (the kids are adorable), but it's long enough for Yu Ping to catch feelings and think his lesbian nanny is cute. He actually is not cold and overbearing as episode 1 makes him out to be. Yu Ping is supportive and tries to be a good friend to Guo. When he thinks her 'girlfriend' is cheating on her, he absolutely flips out because he feels she deserves to be respected and loved in her relationship. He learns about her family. He learns about her friends. He knows where to look for her when she's upset. He knows how to cheer her up and later, he knows how to make the perfect date. When he finds out she lied about being a lesbian, he's not even mad. He admits it was his fault for making certain demands in the employment contract. He's just upset that he's lost chances to flirt and court her.
Listen. It's a dumb premise in this drama and the misunderstandings suck. But it's so refreshing to see male leads be decent to women that are romantically and sexually unavailable to them. The bar is so low, in RL and in dramas, that Yu Ping belongs in the top tier of male drama leads. This dude was just going to continue in a supportive friendship for an undetermined time, both when he thought she was a lesbian and later when his shitty weasel of a best friend dated her under false pretenses. He didn't burden her with a confession until her relationship was over. And whenever she asked for space, he gave it to her. And when she confronted him on instances of jealously, he apologized and gave her space.
Yu Ping never tries to change Guo. He doesn't give her a makeover. She has a makeover scene that is instigated by another character and all he does is try to make her comfortable when she's so obviously uncomfortable. Then he cheers inwardly when he sees her overcome her awkwardness and have confidence. But by the end of the drama, she is still dressing and acting the same as in act 1. It honestly reminded me a little of Coffee Prince in that the fancy male lead is still just as enamored with his gnc woman by the end and the way she presents herself doesn't have an effect on their romantic relationship. Again, this is content catered to me as a bi & gnc woman in a relationship with a cis-het man. I often am mistaken for a man when I go out with my spouse and he's still super into me so let's normalize gnc people with gc people already it's 2021.
Anyway, if you watch romances for kisses, there's really only a couple of pecks and one nice passionate kiss and they're all in basically the last 3 eps of the series.
The last episode sucks. Stop at episode 15. Seriously. Don't watch episode 16. Why oh why do you let terrible people back in your life? Qi Ke Zhong and Ding Hui Fan are toxic and should but cut out of their lives. The end of ep 15 had a happy ending with a family-style breakfast for our two sisters with their boyfriends. Ep 16 threw in some more misunderstanding, jealousy, and separations followed by a time skip for no reason and brought back my two least favorite characters.
Anyway, I will live in my little world with Yang Duo and her sweet lawyer boyfriend Liang Zhi Hao (Ian Yim/Cyran Yan/Yan Yi En yeah, this actor has three stage names) that supports her interests and self-determination while they save money on mass transit by using his motorbike. And they build her dream home that she designs. Perhaps they put aside funds for her to pursue a degree in what she's passionate about.

Yuletide Letter
Fandoms: Tai Sui, Night in the Lonesome October, Return of Mount Hua sect.
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT
Dear Yuletide writer - thanks! I love plot and worldbuilding and shenanigans, and also darkfic on occasion, and I look forward to seeing what you write.
Tai Sui
I love everything about Tai Sui – the characters, the setting, the plot, the feels…everything. (I’d say everyone, too, but this isn’t true as long as Xiang Rong exists.) Also, I’m a multi-shipper, so I am fully convinced of the validity/OTP truth of…many, many things. Sometimes (often?) simultaneously. Incidental spoilers in the suggestions.
So for my request I want non-standard genre fic and/or wacky hijinks, preferably both (though only set in canon). The suggestions below are NOT in order of preference (I’d probably say Lin Chi first, then Zhou Ying, then Zhao Qindan, then Yu Chang)
Zhao Qindan – for Zhao Qindan, I generally ship her with Wei Chengxiang, and I love the squabbling dynamic both of them have with Xi Ping (though not shipping in that case).
Suggestions:
An article written in the style of the toilet bulletins describing…something going on, possibly another pairing (feat. Xi Ping? Yu Chang?), but in the most sarcastic with plausible deniably style possible. Extra points for in-universe appropriate multimedia
Zhao Qindan/Wei Chengxiang shenanigans, film noir style (or book noir style for that matter). parody film noir also good
Police procedural mystery solving with background Zhao Qindan/Wei Chengxiang? Maybe featuring Pang Jian finally getting to live out his dreams of being a cop in a world in which cop isn’t really a job?
Courtship letters between Zhao Qindan and Wei Chengxiang that are 95% about foreign food
Lin Chi – I ship Lin Chi/Wen Fei, disaster duo, and of course Lin Chi’s forever doomed one-sided puppy crush on Hui Xiangjun.  Also the dynamic of Lin Chi, harassed college student stuck babysitting child neighbor Zhi Xiu and toddler Xi Ping while they play with dynamite. And I really like the suggestive little hints we get about Lin Chi and Lin Zongyi and what could have been if canon was not...canon.
Suggestions:
Lin Chi/Wen Fei, buddy cop travelogue. Maybe solving a murder? causing a murder? both?
Something from Lin Chi’s POV, in which he very nearly notices how much havoc everyone around him is causing and trying to hide from him
Lin Chi-written reference manual or error log entries, complete with errata and vague commentary that somehow conveys the monumental disasters that caused him to need to invent these things/fix these things/etc.
Excerpts from Lin Chi’s official letters of complaint to Zhi Xiu about His New Disciple
Lin Chi and Lin Zongyi having the world’s most awkward non-verbal conversations at family parties for years and years and YEARS and somehow both never realizing that they’re actually really close
Fix-it in which somehow we get Lin Zongyi back to hang out with Lin Chi, in either ghostly or corporeal form. Possibly in a situation where Lin Chi is hiding this return from everyone else. I’d be open to Lin Zongyi/Lin Chi in this context :) If you write this one I will extra love you forever
Zhou Ying – as far as I’m concerned, Zhou Ying/Xi Ping is canon, and Zhou Ying&Zhi Xiu, divorced parents fighting over who takes care of Xi Ping better, is also canon. But Zhou Ying, everybody’s problem now, is the most canon.
Zhou Ying & Zhi Xiu (or, even better, Zhou Ying/Zhi Xiu), stuck together doing something. Maybe another buddy cop travelogue, except somehow even worse than the Lin Chi/Wen Fei version, maybe they’re just stuck in an elevator, but either way turn the bitchy pettiness up to 11
There is deaged Zhou Ying and literally only Bai Ling and Xi Ping think it’s cute, everyone else is just horrified at how much damage a single small child can cause
Bby!Zhou Ying & Bai Ling, here to cause problems and cause problems, and they’re all out of…no, they’ve actually made new problems
Extra points for Zhou Ying somehow managing to meet and befriend Luo Qingshi, preferably not during his clarity phase
Yu Chang – He is evil, but baby (in his own POV, anyway). Rule: always loses, but somehow usually still manages to get what he actually needs in the end (no relation to what he wants). Open to Yu Chang/Xi Ping spitesex and/or long-standing frenemy relationship while Xi Ping/Zhou Ying OTPs in the background.
Canon, but told in the style of “Yu Chang’s Very Bad No Good Really Terrible Lifetime”
Yu Chang doesn’t trust anyone, so he keeps the meeting minutes for his multiple conspiracies. With commentary. Very mean commentary.
You know the trope with someone developing the ability to see ghosts? That, except it’s Yu Chang suddenly being able to perceive a ghostly Zhou Ying who is now commenting gleefully on the Yu Chang/Xi Ping shenanigans and Yu Chang haaaaaaates it
Yu Chang/Xi Ping stuck together and forced to work together, complete with Yu Chang’s inevitable backstabbing attempts and Xi Ping’s equally inevitable outsmarting him over it, but also a get-together story. Preferably but not necessarily told in a series of Looney Toons style shorts.
Additional request:
Any of the requested characters time traveling and meeting the 3 Elders (especially Lin Zongyi) as they are in the extra. Just come stab me.
DNW: no predestination, no infidelity (people can be sleeping with multiple people at a time but no one should feel like they’re cheating or be angsting about it. Minor exception for Yu Chang somehow making spiteful comments about Xi Ping, especially if he’s always wrong about who he thinks Xi Ping is cheating on), no anti-sex-worker stuff, no mindbreaks or permanent amputation of a body part, no in-fic unhappy endings. NO modern AUs or complete AUS (i.e. Zhao Qindan is a reporter from the beginning) – please only canon-verse settings, although deviations from canon-verse (e.g. the world doesn’t work quite the same way, people don’t die, irrevocable things don’t occur or if they do it was somehow not fatal, etc.) are OK.
 Night in the Lonesome October
The Count was my favorite character as a kid, especially the reveal moment…!
In short: I would very much like post-canon Count/Jack/Jill fic. Ideally get-together fic - possibly where they are all forced to live together for whatever reason? Possibly where Something happened offscreen during October and they’re still settling into a new dynamic as a result?
All the points for dealing with recovery from the events of canon (esp. for the Count), dealing with adjusting to each other’s little “quirks” (there’s a difference between dealing with it for a month in the abstract and literally living with it, whether it’s the Count’s particular diet or Jack’s knife issues or Jill’s everything), dealing with manners/expectations from different eras, and possibly them getting stuck in the Dreamlands and needing some help from Snuff or Greymalkin or Needle (or all of them!) to get out because that would be cool. I’d also be into something in which they have to rescue each other from the different situations - Jack from the police, the Count from hunters, Jill from...different type of hunters and/or morality police.
I have thrown Snuff in there because I would be really amused by temporarily-stuck-as-a-bat-or-wolf!Count and Snuff hanging out.
DNW: no predestination, no infidelity, no “the Openers should win”, only happy endings please
Return of Mount Hua
I’ve been enjoying the manhwa so far, but I’m only reading the translation, so please no spoilers past that.
I know our protagonist doesn’t much care for the silly cliché backstory going on between Baek Chun and Jin Geumryong, but I certainly do! I’d like toxic relationship darkfic Jin Geumryong/Baek Chun (either as Baek Chun or Jin Dongryong) please, with extra points for obsessive Jin Geumryong who both wants to humiliate Baek Chun but also keep him. NOT angsty, please, just sexy dubious badwrong.
Also OK with something in which Jin Dongryong is the initial victim but eventual victor (…but still into the original dynamic they have), and something in which they have to find equilibrium. Or maybe something in which they have to work together post-current-canon and deal with their new dynamic.
DNW: either character being completely broken – i.e. nothing where Jin Geumryong is shattered by losing and becomes a shadow of himself, nothing in which Baek Chun breaks and gives up completely because he can never win; no infidelity, no permanent mindbreak/amputation of a body part, no spoilers past the current translation point, happy endings only please
Kan mænd undværes?
Max deserves better!
...yeah, that’s it, that’s the prompt XD Max not getting the canon end, but something better. with someone who isn’t Maja. Complete AUs are OK (e.g. gangsters! pirates! space!), but modern AUs are not. I would like it if we got to see Max and Nisse spending time together, but not necessarily. Maybe they can go on some adventure, just the two of them?
also under the circumstances I’m specifying no on screen infidelity on the DNW list (see: Maja. see: the plot) rather than total DNW infidelity, since we can be dealing with the aftereffects, but I’d rather it not be the main focus of the plot
DNW: no on screen infidelity, no endgame Max/Maja, no amputation or mindbreak, no bad end, happy ending only please
