Hellooo, I have a question! it's not related to TDJ, I was just curious if you are from any fandom (a singer/band/group fandom). You don't need to answer if you do not want!
I guess that depends on how you define "being from a fandom"? I'm a fan of a lot of singers/bands/groups, but I don't engage with the fandoms. Well, aside from the occasional reblogs from MVs and such, I guess? Nor do I take part in or consume the usual fandom content. I don't even watch interviews unless I have a really good reason to xD
So, based on that, I don't think I am from any fandoms?
Which I know sounds weird to some, but it's what works best for me. I prefer to just focus on the music itself because I have very little interest in getting to know the performers as people. Which some might argue limits my understanding of the music ā€” since there might be deep, personal reasons for it ā€” but it's just how I feel the most comfortable. I prefer to keep a certain distance between me and singers/idols/actors/authors etc. because I, personally, don't feel a need to know what goes on in the lives of these very real people. I just like the stuff they make :)
The only fandoms I'm in are those related to fictional media like movies, dramas, books etc., because that feels safer for me. I can obsess about a fictional character like it's my job, but I feel no such desire when it comes to real people. That's not to say I think it's wrong or weird for other people to do so ā€” knock yourself out! I hope you have a lovely time! :D It's just not something I enjoy.
(Tbh, I'm often told that I'm the weird one? Like, a lot of people have questioned why I don't like to know more about the talented people whose content I consume because that seems to be the norm. But I guess I'm the exception that proves the rule ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ )
But, as mentioned, I'm a fan of a lot of things! Especially music! I've got a pretty hefty K-pop album collection at this point and have around 30 GB of music on my computer. But, even then, my focus is on the actual media itself and I rarely venture outside of that.
... well, this was a rather disappointing answer, wasn't it? Sorry about that x'D

HI DANI ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
ļæ½ļæ½ What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?
Hfkshfkshfksbd I'm gonna answer p5 for this one bc BOY that game has some issues. If I could only pick ONE thing, it'd have to be the godawful handling of its own themes with regard to Ann & also the adult romance options. Like. The ENTIRE first arc is about beating up a teacher that's been sexually harassing the female students, including Ann. Then the game turns around and Uhhh sexually harasses Ann, but this time as a JOKE so it's OKAY see it's a JOKE (bitch). And then lets you, playing a 16/17 year old, romance adult women (INCLUDING YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER. THE DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!!!) anyways me and every other p5 fan have complained about this extensively already so this is nothing new. Just sometimes I think about it and get SO very angry hfksbfksbdkd
šŸ¤© What led to your interest in the fandom?
Since I answered trigun for the last one I'll answer p5 for this one! Fandom itself is uhhhhhh also not great lol, but there are some really great people around, still! I have an assortment of Treasured Mutuals from the fandom (yourself Included) that I enjoy seeing around on my dash :') and tbh that's all you really need to enjoy a fandom. I've loved the persona series for a long time, so it's still really nice to me that I have people I can talk about it with. I went a solid 7 years being a persona fan with No Persona Friends, so writing fic for p5 was one of the best things I could've done for myself. I hate the fandom at large lol, but you guys? You guys are great
šŸ’Ž Do you often write about a relationship or focus on an individual?
Hfkshfkshf well ok I like many other people in fandom am helpless against the call of The Ship... but also I think I focus more on the individuals and also their other relationships than a lot of other writers do. Like as much as I like the romantic ships, I also love building up their platonic relationships as well, and ALSO their identity as an individual. & as a longfic writer I have the time to Do That. So yes it's been 94k words of writing for ITNL (so far) and there has been no wolfwood (aside from the Brief Cameo). But it's okay, bc im busy exploring Vash as a character and his friendship with the girls. Wolfwood will be here when he's here, and I'll enjoy him very much when he is. But for now. Vash Time šŸ˜Ž
Ask game here!

henlo i am sorry to bother you but i am ten years late to the danganronpa fandom and two years late to your fanfics but i was wondering if you might consider finishing your Bear Trap story? like even if its just a quick lil synopsis of what you wanted to write, or if its an unfinished chapter, id take anything šŸ‘‰šŸ‘ˆ
also ur lovely ok bye
Ok this was worded very kindly so I'm going to justify it with a full geniune response.
I'm honestly probably never going to update Bear Trap, but I WILL give you a synopsis. I did however want to first quickly explain why I don't plan on finishing that fic.
To keep a long story short. I kinda hate BT. It was my first fic after a two year break and imo it shows in the quality. I thank BT for temporarily getting me back into the writing groove, but I cringe way too hard looking back on it. I do have an unfinished chapter draft, but I'm not sure if I'd ever post it. I'll have to reread it at some point and see how I feel.
I would also like to say that if anyone else is willing to write the last part, I am more than willing to work with them.
Now, here is what I had planned for BT, bare (haha bear) in mind that it's messy because it was just self indulgent nonsense:
The format of BT was meant to go; build up, impact, aftermath. With each chapter focusing on a different story beat.
There was going to be a fake chapter released only on tumblr where Naegi died, only for the characters to go "did you actually think that would happen?" meant to poke fun over how many people thought I was going to kill Naegi.
This means the last chapter was going to entirely focus on the aftermath of Naegi's injury. I wanted each character to get an analysis of how they're feeling and each individual relationship would get a spotlight
This also means that. Tbh. The aftermath segment probably would not fit cleanly into one chapter since it would be pretty big.
It began with the hospital ride from the helicopter, Togami and Kiri watching as medics struggle to keep Naegi stable. There's a very dissociative vibe going on.
Because Togami and Kiri are closer to Naegi then they are each other, they don't really know how to comfort each other. It's awkward, quiet. They only speak to share facts and speculation. But there's a moment where they lean shoulder to shoulder.
Naegi was going to lose his leg, and have to get a prosthetic. Some of the fic was going to focus on him relearning how to walk with his new leg with the help of his partners.
I wanted to make sure that Naegi becoming disabled wasn't a "bad" ending. It's obviously upsetting to lose a limb in a tragic accident, and Naegi does have to cope with it. But I wanted to feel more empowering in a "see this shit? It's proof I survived"
Togami was ofc going to lovingly call him a cockroach
There was going to be exploration over how despite being known around the world for surviving a tragedy, they still don't really know how to LIVE with tragedy. They are just forced to keep moving on without getting a moment to breathe.
Due to Naegi seeing how freaked out Togami and Kiri were, he tries to keep everything together and stay lighthearted for their sake. He knows they want to see he's okay. This meant he pushed aside his own coping however.
The fic was going to end with Naegi finally letting out his emotions and crying in front of both of them, admitting that he was scared and thought he was going to die, and that he was so grateful they were there. Even if he had died then, he wouldve been more okay with it if they were with him. But that doesn't mean he was actually okay with it.
Togami negotiates them all a 2 week vacation lmao
If I remember correctly (I did not reread the fic to check, I'm going solely off memory) I was going to make a point about how despite feeling like they nearly lost their chance to tell Naegi they love him, both Tog and Kiri know that a confession shortly after a traumatic experience isn't the best idea. But also, Naegi doesn't need a confession to know they love him.
There were certainty more details to thefic that I can't fully recall ATM, such as the specifics of each individual character/relationship analysis. Let me know if you have any questions! Ty again for your kindness

I know there are some people who had mixed feelings about the idea of Aziraphale and Crowley kissing on screen because they felt that Season 1 was such good asexual rep, and listen, that's valid. It feels very clear that they are in love in Season 1, and a kiss is not necessary to prove it to a great many of us, including myself.
THAT BEING SAID. I absolutely felt the same as OP did when I watched the episode because HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS. You know what I love about this kiss? (aside from the delicious emotional devastation which I have not yet recovered from of course)
Now nobody can deny the nature of their relationship.
Whenever I talked about Good Omens to people outside of the fandom, it felt like I had to defend the idea of Aziraphale & Crowley being in love or just avoid mentioning it at all, because outside of the fandom everyone seemed to view it as a buddy comedy, and you just sound like an overzealous fan by suggesting otherwise. We've had too many shows where the subtext is there but the creators treat it like a joke, or deny that it means what it appears to mean. Or you try to explain it to casual viewers and they just think you're overanalyzing.
I love this kiss because it makes the nature of their relationship undeniable to the whole audience. You no longer see it only when engaging with fandom analysis or tallying up the subtextual evidence. You can no longer overlook it, or call it a "buddy comedy" or a "bromance". Even a casual viewer now has to look at Aziraphale and Crowley and say, oh, so this is romantic. This has been a love story the whole time. If they didn't see it before, now they have to recontextualize the whole series for themselves with this new information.
Not only that, but I love this kiss because it further proves to me that I can trust Neil Gaiman. In short, there are very few showrunners out there who I trust to take care of their characters. Neil was already on that list, to be fair, and while the end of Season 2 may have been devastating*, it feels so respectful of the characters and the journeys they need to go on. It's obviously not the end of their story and I think we're all pretty confident that Ineffable Husbands are meant to be endgame (cottage in the South Downs, anyone?), but this was a huge step in their tumultuous relationship that was handled with such emotional honesty, like, holy shit. I respect the hell out of Neil, David, and Michael for delivering such an incredibly raw scene. Not only that, but seeing an on screen kiss reaffirmed to me that Neil is cognizant of his audience and is not afraid to make narrative choices that other shows have avoided for fear of losing viewers. These are all things I knew already (all hail Gaiman tbh), but when Crowley kissed Aziraphale, it really drove it home to me.
I did not need an Ineffable Husbands kiss to prove that they're in love, but I won't pretend it bothers me to have them kiss, because it doesn't. Quite the opposite, in fact. And this wasn't the soft and romantic kiss you would hope for, it was desperate and awkward because that's exactly what it was supposed to be. I thought it was brilliant. I thought it was deliciously heartbreaking and set us up beautifully for a final chapter. (And Amazon had better give us a third season or I will riot.)
So yes. I love the kiss, I think it's hugely important, and I am SO excited to rewatch the season again soon. In the meantime, you'll probably catch me flailing about it here on Tumblr for a while šŸ˜‰
*dude after i finished the last episode i spent a good several minutes flapping my hands around and breaking into hysterical sobs because holy shit what the fuck?! believe me when i tell you it was hard to focus at work the next day past the achey hollowness inside. god it was incredible. such a deceptively light season up until that final sucker punch of an episode, ALL HAIL GAIMAN šŸ™Œ
I think it genuinely cannot be overstated how important that kiss in season 2 of Good Omens was.
From a plot standpoint, that kiss showed Crowley's desperate attempts to keep Aziraphale, to reel him in and back to the Us that they had built upon.
But from just a show standpoint, they. fucking. kissed.
Obviously their love transcends physicality, and Neil has said that Good Omens is a love story even before season 2, but the outright confirmation of a widely popular queer ship ON SCREEN is just so... Unheard of.
Every fandom or show has their trademark gay couple that aren't-really-gay-but-also-kind-of-are-gay: Merlin and Arthur, Sherlock and John (very heavy offender), Dean and Castiel (okay this one was canon, but we all know what happened IMMEDIATELY afterwards), and I suppose at some point Ineffable Husbands had just been included in the same category as the rest of them.
And to have it be moved from mostly fandom and fan work fuelled to outright canon - like 'they fucking kissed on screen' canon - is just so fucking fantastic.
It's not vague, it's not lines that are blurred for the sake of being on the fence of appealing to two audiences at once, and it's not only canon because the creator just said it's canon without rhyme or reason purely for the sake of appealing to a queer audience (looking at you, Ms J. K. Rowling) - it's undeniable, blatant evidence that Crowley and Aziraphale are in love.
And yes, at the moment it's devastating, but it's also devastatingly real. And that's so important.
Especially with the release of Our Flag Means Death, I really do hope we are entering a new era in mainstream media where queer ships finally aren't treated as some sort of mysterious prize that the writers dangle in front of you like a carrot on a stick, and are just simply treated like any other ship out there.
Because if so, then queer kids will be growing up to these shows, see this new era of unabashedly queer media, and won't have to hide away their ships like some dirty little secret. They won't have to wonder if their representation is even representation. They won't have to get excited over being able to see the small chance of themselves represented in a character only to be let down so incredibly badly, because queerness is good only when it's marketable.
So sure, ending season 2 like that is fucking crazy, but you know what's crazier? Whatever the fuck Neil just did with that kiss.

Iā€™ve been talking a lot about why Iā€™m not a fan of the idea that all the servers are connected (tbh I donā€™t want to talk about it THAT much because then ppl will bring up how Iā€™m wrong or something) but I wanna tell a reason I didnā€™t get to that is actually pretty much the MAIN reason:
I feel like it breaks the immersion. Iā€™m going to be using the life series as my main example because itā€™s the only mcyt series I am currently FULLY invested in. All the others I like I struggle to keep up with unfortunately.
But like, in 3rd Life. Grian has a whole epic story of being in debt to a red name, going through a war, and winning in the end. Itā€™s a really powerful story, and I feel like applying every other server Grianā€™s ever been in sort ofā€¦ takes away from it?
Especially the idea that he just goes back to hermitcraft like normal. Thatā€™s often what ruins fics for me personally, when a character talks about how stressful it is or whatever and another character says ā€œdonā€™t worry weā€™ll be back in (ā€œhomeā€ server) after thisā€ Iā€™m like man WHAT. Whereā€™s the stakes NOW?? I will say that sometimes it feels necessary to give them a place to go afterwards, so itā€™s not ALWAYS bad and even with my own fic ideas I often think ā€œdamn maybe I need to do that even tho I donā€™t like itā€
Even aside from stakes, because I can get wanting to give these guys a proper break from the death games, I feel like it changes their characters too much. Like, I want to focus on how exactly they played their characters in 3L, LL, DL, etc. But now youā€™re telling me I have to focus on their relationships in OTHER servers I donā€™t even WATCH? It makes everything they do feel more like an act, like theyā€™re just pretending to have beef in whichever server theyā€™re against each other. Which is closer to real life. Which makes me bored cuz Iā€™m trying to get into the roleplay aspect. Theyā€™re pretending to have beef because THEIR CHARACTERS have beef. And the fandom is focused on their characters right? So it makes me so sad that weā€™ve turned even the CHARACTERS into actors.
To be clear Iā€™m not saying you suck if you like making all the servers connected or whatever. We all enjoy what we enjoy! I do see the value in connecting the servers, it seems like it could be fun, but for some reason itā€™s the majority in fanon and Iā€™m so confused about that cuz it feels more like an au. I just wish there were people I could talk to who donā€™t connect the servers like that haha. Donā€™t stop what ur doing tho

Hi! Iā€™m here to bring you yet another Danganronpa tier list: the sexuality tier list, which you can find here.
Now Iā€™m going to be honest here: I donā€™t really have any LGBT headcanons. Itā€™s just not really something I focus on much when it comes to fandoms. Instead I usually just focus on ships, and as a result from that I tend to present a lot of characters as LGBT in fanfictions and posts Iā€™ve made or reblogged. In other words, a massive chunk of myĀ ā€œheadcanonsā€ here are a direct result of shipping (as well as information Iā€™ve picked up from the games themselves). That being said, it was interesting to actually think about this for once, so Iā€™m kinda glad I did the tier list. And it gave me an excuse to bring back the rainbow color scheme I usually put in my tier lists for aesthetic reasons.
The original tier list had Straight at the top, but I moved it to the bottom for two reasons. One, this is Tumblr and thatā€™s not what youā€™re here for. Two, I gave it a neutral color, and having a gray section next to a white section (i.e. the title of the list) like that looked bad to me. I definitely prefer this setup just on aesthetic alone.
Because this is largely based on ships, I feel it needs to be said that representation does not factor into this chart in any way. I know it probably looks bad that the only character in the Lesbian category is one of my least favorite (though NOT hated or even disliked, I should point out) characters in the main series. That has nothing to do with the fact that sheā€™s a lesbian. Sheā€™s just a jerk, and usually not in a way thatā€™s at least entertaining enough for me to like her.
Also keep in mind that this is just the main cast of the main series games. If you were to include characters from the DR3 anime, UDG, or the spin-offs, the Gay, Lesbian, and Ace categories would get more rep, certainly. Think Juzo, Yui, Takemichi, that gay guy with the trumpet, etc.
With that said, letā€™s go through the list:
Gay
Not gonna lie, one of the reasons why Rantaro is here (and not in Ace)Ā is because of ships. Though I do sometimes ship him with girls, canon suggests heā€™s not interested in dating girls, and most fans seem to headcanon him as either gay or ace because of this, so I respected that. That being said, I also acknowledge heā€™s a very popular character in mlm ships, and at the time I was putting this together I hadnā€™t gotten to Taka yet so the Gay tier was still empty, and Byakuya was already sitting in Ace, so all of that swayed me to putting Rantaro here instead of Ace.
Taka was much easier to place here. He strikes me as a closeted gay man who probably doesnā€™t even realize he is gay.Ā ā€œHey, letā€™s all hang out in the bath, guys! Getting naked is essential to form bonds with your fellow man! No need to be ashamed, itā€™s tradition!"
Lesbian
Again, ships. I only ship Hiyoko with one other character, and as soon as I say that you already know who she is.
Bisexual (Male Preference)
Akane is mostly here to account for any wlw ships I may have of her (e.g. Hina, Sonia maybe). Obviously she has a thing with Nekomaru, so Male Preference.
Chiaki is here for the same reason as Akane. Iā€™ve shipped her with characters like Sonia and Ibuki before, but she really digs Hajime.
Chihiro honestly could have been anywhere in the Bi and Pan sections, but I ultimately went with Male Preference because of ships, specifically the fact that outside of the more... R18 circles of the Interwebs Chihiro tends to be shipped with guys more often than girls. Also doesnā€™t hurt that my OTP is Naehiro. I mean, have you seen how often Chihiro blushes around Makoto? (Thereā€™s more to it than that, as Iā€™ve covered in the past.Ā Iā€™m just trying to add more fuel to the fire.)
Himiko is probably one of the few characters that isnā€™t here mainly because of ships. I do think she has some attachment towards Tenko, but I also getĀ ā€œIā€™m uncomfortable around herā€ vibes from her, and there are moments where she seems to crush on Kokichi (of all people) so thatā€™s why sheā€™s here. Still very much bi, though.
Hina has a crush on Makoto and has a complex around wishing she was more feminine so she can attract boys. So why isnā€™t she in the Straight section? ...Because Sakura, duh. And Kyoko too. And any other wlw ship you can think of that might work with Hina.
Honestly if it wasnā€™t for Miu I probably would have considered putting Kokichi in Gay. Again, while shipping plays a big part of my choices here, much like with Rantaro I have no qualms with putting a character in a tier that contradicts any ships I might have with that character, if those ships arenā€™t something Iā€™m super invested in.Ā This is a very important distinction, because itā€™s why I let ships sway my hand for so many of these even if I am also okay with going ā€œJust because I ship this doesnā€™t mean I headcanon itā€ as I did with Rantaro. And honestly Kokichiā€™s ship teasing with Himiko does come off as more trollish than a sign that heā€™s into her, but he really gets into his back-and-forth with Miu, in my personal opinion, and he gets into it farĀ more oftenĀ with her for that matter. Itā€™s why itā€™s one of my favorite ships for both of them tbh, and itā€™s because I like the ship so much that I just canā€™t ignore it for this sexuality headcanon tier list.
Maki... is here because of ships (e.g. Kaede).
Sakura... is here because of ships (e.g. Hina). ...What, you were expecting me to put a guy in the example? Remember, she has a boyfriend in canon.
Sayaka... is here because of... NOT ships, but DRAT. Yes, really. (ā€WeĀ really gotĀ down and dirty, Naegi-kun.ā€)
Sonia... strikes me as someone who swings both ways. I canā€™t describe exactly why I feel that way, but yes.
Bisexual (No Preference)
Celeste wants a harem of vampire boys but shipping her with Kyoko is also very popular and honestly i feel like it would fit her character. Sheā€™s got a look that saysĀ ā€œI could get any ass I want and I know it.ā€
Ibuki is decked out in blues and pinks, and also I ship her fairly evenly among both boys and girls. She just screams bi icon to me, more so than any other character in the series.
Junko is either bi with no preferences or pan. She is an equal opportunity heart-and-soul-breaker and lust-for-despair machine.
There is no Mukuro in this list, but honestly I would probably put her where I put Junko anyway.
Kaede... is here because of ships (e.g. Miu, Maki)
Honestly I had no idea where to put Kirumi, so I just randomly chose one that I wouldnā€™t regret later if I ever put more thought into who I shipped her with.
Iā€™m pretty sure Nagito being bisexual has some degree of canon attached to it??? I think??? Iā€™m not entirely sure tbh, but fuck it. Iā€™m doing this for fun anyway, so this doesnā€™t really matter.
Shuichi, like all Danganronpa protags, is bi as fuck. I also find him to be more shippable with guys than the other two protags, so IMO he has no preference.
Toko might have a thing or two for pretty boys, but... Komaru, I mean, this isnā€™t exactly shocking, I donā€™t think. Probably was closeted before she met Komaru. I mean she did focus on Hinaā€™s boobs a lot in DR1, letā€™s not forget.
Tsumugi, much like Kirumi, is here because I havenā€™t put much thought into her ships.
Bisexual (Female Preference)
Gundham has a thing with Sonia in canon, but I can see him being bi. So... yeah, ships again.
Hajime, like all Danganronpa protags, is bi as fuck. Itā€™s just that his Chiaki and Mikan game is just too strong.
Hifumi might claim to only like 2D, but his interest in Chihiro both in human form and computer program form (and the fact that this didnā€™t go away after the gender reveal) places him here.
Kaito strikes me as a closeted bisexual. The kind that could start any given conversation with ā€œIā€™m not gay, but...ā€
Kazuichi also strikes me as a closeted bisexual, only hisĀ ā€œIā€™m not gay, but...ā€ is rooted more in dumbass than it is in systematic homophobia.
Korekiyo... is here because of ships (e.g. Rantaro).
Kyoko is bi as fuck, and I can see her having a preference towards girls in particular. She gets shipped with girls a lot (e.g. Celeste, Hina, Yui, and even Junko and Mukuro), and when she is shipped with boys itā€™s usually just pretty boys (e.g. Makoto, Byakuya, Ryota, Shuichi, and, depending on your interpretation, Chihiro). Also note that aside from Makoto and maybe Byakuya, Kyokoā€™s girl ships are far more popular than her boy ships. Just something Iā€™ve noticed over the years.
Leon... is here because of ships (e.g. Chihiro).
Mahiru is here because Iā€™m pretty sure she has a thing for Hajime in her FTEs, but obviously she tends to get shipped with girls more often (especially Hiyoko), and I agree.
Makoto, like all Danganronpa protags, is bi as fuck. Itā€™s just that his Kyoko, Hina, Sayaka, and Mukuro game is just too strong.
Mikan may be interested in Hajime somewhat, but her obsession with Junko cannot be ignored, no matter how much some of you may want to.
Mondo is another character that strikes me as a closeted bisexual. He is said to strike out all the time with girls, so I do think heā€™s attracted to women. And I do get some vibes that heā€™s attracted to Chihiro pre-reveal. And if circumstances had been different, I imagine he probably still would have been post-reveal. But obviously itā€™s his bond with Taka that I feel cements his sexuality in, at the very least, an mlm category.
Tenko... is here NOT because of ships, but because Iā€™m pretty sure sheā€™s at least sort of interested in Shuichi because of some canon thing... and also I donā€™t want to put her in Lesbian just because it feels like Iā€™d be stereotyping the Lesbian category if I do that. If we were to compare her to the character that I did put in Lesbian, Hiyoko doesnā€™t treat people like shit because theyā€™re men, sheā€™s an equal-opportunity asshole. Still not the best representation for lesbians by a long shot, but at least Hiyoko doesnā€™t follow the stereotype of a man-hating lesbian. Sheā€™s just like that, and thatā€™s okay. But putting Tenko there, especially if sheā€™s shown some degree of interest in a male character at some point in the game, just rubs me the wrong way personally, because it would feel like Iā€™m ignoring canon just to stereotype her. But thatā€™s just a personal hang up of mine. No disrespect intended toward anyone who genuinely feels that Tenko is a lesbian. Maybe you see something there that I donā€™t, and thatā€™s perfectly fine.
Pansexual
I donā€™t remember exactly how her FTEs went, so Iā€™m not going to get into that, but Angie just comes off as pan to me, like gender doesnā€™t fit into the equation at all for her.
Gonta I can see as either pan or ace. I feel like he wouldnā€™t care about gender, and honestly the only reason I decided to put him in Pan rather than Ace is because of that scene with Miu.
Imposter is not only pan, they are currently OT3ing it up with Ibuki and Ryota as we speak, and thatā€™s a fact.
Keebo... is mostly here because of ships. A lot of ships, actually. Mostly male ships (Kokichi, Shuichi, Kazuichi, and, depending on your interpretation, Chihiro) but thereā€™s also Miu to consider. And the Miu game is SOĀ strong that I put him in Pan instead of, say, Male Preference.
Just gonna lump them together because I have the same thing to say about both of them: Miu and Teruteru would **** anything that walks. What did I censor? Well, Iā€™m doing the Nier: Automata thing, so you can put whatever you want in there and trust me, it would probably fit, for better or for worse.
Ace
I know this is an unpopular opinion, because Naegami, but I just donā€™t think Byakuya is interested in anyone, at least not in that way. He might be fascinated with how common people live, because itā€™s so foreign to him, but thatā€™s about it.
Straight
Even though I do ship Fuyuhiko with some of the boys, his Peko game is so strong that honestly I canā€™t see him actually dating anyone aside from Peko outside of some very niche fanfiction.
Honestly, Hiro was another one that I was just likeĀ ā€œI have no idea what to do with you.ā€ I think maybe his team up with Kanon made me eventually choose to put him in Straight? I donā€™t remember. I clearly didnā€™t put much thought into Hiro.
I really only ship Nekomaru with Akane, so thatā€™s why heā€™s here. Iā€™m sure if I dive deep enough into my psyche I can pull an mlm ship with Nekomaru in it out of my ass, but like Rantaro that wouldnā€™t be significant enough to change anything.
Peko is in the same boat as Fuyuhiko. I have shipped her with girls before, but her Fuyuhiko game is just too strong.
Ryoma had a girlfriend once, and as far as I can remember he didnā€™t really seem interested in anybody in the game, so thatā€™s all I have to go off of for him.
-----
So there you have it. Explanations for literally all of them! Explanations that were definitely not pulled out of my ass as I was typing them, nope, certainly not. Definitely wonā€™t be tagging all of them, but I may tag the ones with the longest entries. And like all the tier lists Iā€™ve done, this was just for fun and honestly any opinion I have for any of these characters could change at a momentā€™s notice because my brain is fickle like that. Tried my best to make sure that every tier had at least one character in it, but I did so without trying to force characters in places that I personally did not believe they should go. I hope you all enjoyed my dive into this area of fandom that I rarely dive into (the LGBT headcanons, not the ships, obviously). It was a lot of fun, and hopefully it will stay fun and not result in angry anons blasting me for my opinions. I am grateful that this never seems to happen to me, but Iā€™ve seen it happen to others and I know what Tumblr is capable of at its worst. These are just headcanons and a matter of personal opinion, and if you disagree with them, thatā€™s perfectly okay. Your feelings and opinions are also valid.

Feminism in ACOTAR
(This is a bit long so bare with me)
As a politics student and general member of the public who's curious about feminist themes, I've read a lot of feminist writings which have informed my opinion in saying that none of the acotar books can be described as feminist.
I've noticed that the big motivator behind describing the books as feminist is feyres appointment of High lady. Though that may be pivotal in prythian history, we cant ignore the fact that it is still a fairly patriachal society. Having a few women in places of power like mor, amren, feyre etc. Is not enough because women don't grow up on an island and are also influenced by patriachal views or mindsets. In short, just because someone is a woman and is in a position of power, doesnt mean that they will cater to the needs of women or are feminist. Women, especially white women(this is important because sjms writes white feminism) have often gotten into positions of power and actually ignored women and done the same that their male predecessors have done and often threw other women under the bus in order to retain their tokenism status. And the main flaw of white feminism which is the reason why it coined the term 'white feminism' is that it doesnt encompass all the intersectionalities that women reside in and only focus on a western model of what it means to be a woman and anything outside of that is backward and 'barbaric. We see this in the judgement and disregarding of POC's experiences and outlooks on life because they are different to theirs. There are more than enough examples of the white women in the series judging the illyrians which are seen by the fandom as POC's and how they maliciously drag their customs through the mud. Instead of getting these views from illyrian women themselves, we get them from white women who arent connected to that culture whatsoever and who have nothing to say except judgement and critique instead of actually helping.
We see this with the white characters views of illyrian cultures and their conclusion of the condition of women without even having a single conversation with illyrian women. Illyrian women in this set up have no agency and no voice and that leaves the women of the IC to speak for them which is counterproductive. This is wrong in that many western cultures have misinterpreted different cultures and ignored the women in those societies as being disenfranchised and have used this as an excuse to invade and colonize under the guise of liberating women when in actual fact they dont care about the women at all, and are only concerned in reaping the benefits of that culture and keeping them under their control. An example of this is rhys ignoring the treatment of illyrian women but reaping the benefit of having illyrians fight in his wars.
Feyre as high lady
It's unfair to judge feyres actions as high lady as yet because we've barely seen her act, but from the little that we know, she follows Rhys' every action and decision without question. And rhys hasn't done anything for the improvement of women's position socially or economically at all (we all know the state of the illyrian camps) in all the 500 yrs he's been high lord. Apart from Rhys, the inner circle has 2 women in the highest leadership positions and even they havent done anything and have even ignored the plight of women under their jurisdiction, (mor with Hewn city) I dont even think amren cares about anything besides her jewels tbh. So it's fair to assume that feyre will follow in those very footsteps. She already has biased and low views on the illyrians and people who reside in hewn city to the point where she participates in the 'pimp and whore' act that she puts on t deal with them. And we've never seen her speak to illyrian women so to her their voices and autonomy dont matter.
Male feminism in the IC
The only male who can be seen as being feminist in the series is Cassian because aside from simply declaring that wing clipping is illegal, he actually does the ground work to ensure it doesn't happen by offering the women to train with him. Though this is a weak cure for the issues the women face in Illyria, it's a start and far more work than anything the other characters have done in the name of women empowerment.
Another so called feminist figure in the series is rhysand. Why he's described as such defeats me, but I'll go through some points to prove that hes nothing of the sort.
1. He created a library for sexual assault survivors.
Though this is a nice effort, it can't be described as feminism because he doesnt extend the same courtesy to the other women in his territory and is only concerned with women in Velaris. Supporting women who worship you isnt feminism isnt feminism either and we know that the entirety of Velaris see the IC as blameless gods. Based on mors history, its obvious that the women in hewn city are suffering just as much if not more but hes forsaken them to live under mors parents/abusers rule. And creating a safe house for sexual assault survivors isnt as much feminism as it is human decency. Especially considering how much money hes got.
2. Banning illyrian wing clipping
Wing clipping is still a pandemic in the illyrian camps meaning that he didnt put enough provisions to ensure that it stops. Passing a law and ensuring that it is followed are two different things and rhys clearly dowsnt know the distinction. An additional point regarding illyrian women is that it was mentioned in acofas that they were joining the men in rebelling, and if that doesnt say anything about their feelings with him being high lord and how he doesnt cater to them, then I dont know what does. This also speaks to the point of the assumption that women of color dont have agency in their own societies. He said something like the men 'manipulated' the women into joining their rebellion, which insinuates that they can't think for themselves and are completely voiceless and this is a factor of whit feminism, the belief that WOC colour cant speak for themselves and are meek and susetable to being controlled or manipulated. It is a huge possibility that the women can't really express their opinions because they are suppressed by their men, however we dont see rhys interacting with any women and getting their opinion on things. He assumes that they are forced into everything and though we havent gotten the book yet I'm gonna say this is false. The reason being if rhys was such a good high lord and cared for women's issues, why would the women side with their 'abusive' men instead of their so called benevolent high lord?
3. Rhys appointed women in his IC
First of all, appointing women based on merit and qualifications is feminism, not appointing family members and you underaged bride just because 'you love her'. Though mor and amren may be qualified, and that's a massive 'maybe', they haven't done anything to improve the lives of women. Like their high lord they are complacent and Hewn city and illyria are more than enough to prove this. What rhys has essentially done is nepotism and corruption and no one can convince me otherwise.
Going further on the inner circle women, rhys was willing to sacrifice these very women to achieve his goal and this is self serving and anti feminist. The first being abusing feyre UTM and then using her as bait for the attor, then later making a deal with eris even though he knows his history with mor. If anyone believes that these actions are remotely feminist or excusable, then feminism is not for you and need help because its abusive and patriachal.
In conclusion rhys isnt feminist, mor isnt feminist, amren isnt feminist, feyre isnt feminist, azriel isnt even in the conversation and cassian is the only one scratching the surface. Also, white feminism is an exclusive and limited way to portray and execute feminism, women getting leadership positions based on their proximity to men just advances the false notion that women can only succeed if they 'sleep' their way to the top and just because a woman is in a leadership space, thag doesnt make that state of affairs inherently feminist because women are also carriers of patriarchy.
I tried to sum up my points but for more on white feminism, feminist intersectionalites and how being female doesnt make a person feminist, I advice you read Bell Hooks' writings because she touches on these topics in far better ways than I can.

The Intervention Scene: Pretty Much A Rant
I've seen a lot of really great discourse in the fandom around whether the intervention was controlling/abusive or necessary tough love. The thing is... Nesta absolutely needed an intervention. And this was an intervention. Feyre said approximately the right things at approximately the right time with approximately the right amount of structure for this to be successful. My problem is all of the approximates. It's really not clear why there was an intervention in the first place, and all of the actions following it undercut the message, or literally any message.
I charted them all out because this mess is living rent free in my brain. So here are the possible reasons why there could have been an intervention, and why the intervention itself or following actions made it fall so very flat for me.
Nesta is depressed. This is absolutely true. We see from Nesta's perspective that she is slowly killing herself. But following conversations with other characters make it clear that how Nesta sees herself is not how Cassian and other others see her. Do Feyre and Cassian know that Nesta is depressed? I honestly have no idea. And if that's the reason why they intervened... why did it take until Chapter 12 for anyone to ask how she was doing? Like - putting a depressed person in bootcamp and then never asking them how they feel, while systematically shutting down any time they want to vent is the worst idea I've ever heard. Even if Cassian is excused (maybe he didn't get the memo), Feyre could have checked up on her more. I wouldn't send my very depressed sister away without status updates more frequently than Feyre does. She also, pointedly, does not take Cassian aside to remind him to treat her sister with kindness. This is not even to say that the bootcamp aspect of this is extreme. If she is just depressed, why does she need to train so vigorously that she needs a strict diet? Exercise first -> battle formations later. The weird focus on training still makes no sense to me. I understand expecting training to help, but Cassian really does shut down any time she tries to talk about her feelings.
Nesta is alcoholic. This is pretty realistic and the structure of the intervention mimics this cause the closest. This looks like the intervention from the family of an addict. The problem is... Nesta has no problems with alcohol. She's fine after two days, never has a relapse, and suffers no ill effects. If that's the case, was she in danger of being an alcoholic in the first place? There also isn't really a plan for when she gets out of here. Eventually she'll be able to climb the stairs and even though she has no money, an addict will go to desperate measures to get alcohol. It's never brought up or addressed. The training aspect of bootcamp seems extra extreme for this scenario because... why would she need to train at all? It's just detoxing, really.
Nesta is not eating enough and arguably has an eating disorder. This one infuriates me after the breakfast scene. I cannot come up with words to explain how absolutely stupid it is to take someone with a suspected eating disorder and then control what they eat, while ignoring their requests for different food. Additionally... TRAINING. Why would you physically exhaust someone who's not eating? They'll just train and not eat and then they're worse off. And also this would be way better if anyone ever referenced THAT SHE WAS EATING. "Cassian... make sure she eats something" would have made Feyre so much more sympathetic. Ugh its just the worst! Because they notice that she's lost weight (while still fitting in her leathers perfectly, because that's possible), and then totally ignore her positive attempts to eat food.
Nesta is a sex addict. This is also argueable true. But I'm again unclear how training and mandatory service are supposed to help a sex addict other than keeping them busy. And, of course, she has a ton of sex with Cassian all the time. So if this is the issue, its incredibly problematic and never solved. They just stuck her in bootcamp while also feeding her addiction. There is literally no reason for the controlling aspects.
Nesta is spending too much of Feyre's money. Yeah this is true. Sorry Nesta but its absolutely within Feyre's right to cut her off. That being said... bootcamp? "You spent too much of my money so I'm going to control almost every aspect of your day and kick you out of your apartment" ??? I don't think I need to say how extreme of a response this is. This motivation would work really well if she was just doing library services. "You spent too much money without contributing so now you have to contribute at this library. Since you can't winnow or fly and everyone else has actual jobs (it's my headcannon that they have actual jobs and can't just taxi service) you need to live there too. Cassian will also be there because he lives there and to make sure you comply." Feyre could just say she's going to pay back her debt so she has to work at the library for XX time. OR the libary now funds her allowance (but that gives her way too much freedom). But training? We'll revisit in a few months? Revisit what?
Nesta is embarrassing Feyre as High Lady. This one is tricky, because on the one hand, fuck Feyre for this comment. On the other hand, Feyre is now an important public official and her sister does reflect on her. (Do not get me started on how Feyre not being able to "control" her sister implies shes unfit to be High Lady. The fact that she used the word "control" implies that she's unfit to be High Lady, not Nesta's behavior. You don't control your subjects but - ugh, I got started) Lets assume for a second that this is valid. If Nesta is embarrassing Feyre in public wouldn't the rational response to have someone... tell her what is appropriate behavior in public? Say, someone very good with presenting a public face... like Mor??? Who also conveniently has a few days off from being a politician????? Bootcamp to become a strong warrior is... not relevant? Wtf? Have they never met a warrior who is totally compentent on the battlefield and an epic embarrassment otherwise (that sounds kind of like Cassian tbh...). There is an arguement to be made that Nesta already knows how to do this (she's actually decent at politics) so her embarrassing Feyre must be on purpose. It's still a gross oversight to say "You're behaving incorrectly but I'm not going to tell you what was incorrect, go fix it". UNLESS:
They want to control Nesta. This one makes an UNCOMFORTABLE amount of sense. They didn't tell her what to fix. She's just going off and "they'll revisit in a few months" to check on her progress. See how moldable she is maybe? Controlling every aspect of her life in a place she can't escape on her own? check. BUT because this book makes no sense, they manage to fuck this up too. Why did they train at Windhaven?? Look, I'm not saying that anyone should control someone's life until they break down and become a shell of their former self, but if someone were to do that, it's in private. Arguably, Windhaven, where there was civil unrest less than a year ago, is full of people who ABSOLUTELY need to believe that Nesta is under the control of the IC (or at least on the same side). So why would they take her there on the first day, when she is most full of defiance? (They're idiots, moving on) Cassian's comments about how Nesta was embarrassing him in front of other people were hilariously a joke because he put them in front of other people to begin with. (Even if they didn't want to control her, why windhaven? Like... oh look there's the High Lady's sister who is an absolute weakling and garbage at throwing a punch. This reflects so well on the inner circle. what????)
The problem is that SJM took all of these reasons and put them in a blender to give some frankenstein motivation. In the end there was too much going on so she achieved none of it. It feels almost like a successful intervention, until you look a little closer, and then everything falls apart.

Cid Highwind and/or Vincent V!
Oooohhh!!! Bringing in The Boys? SNkkkkk, Iā€™d expect nothing less of you, Enide <3 Iā€™m not that well-versed in them as Iā€™d like, buT!!! hereā€™s trying!!!! Love a good challenge :))Ā
Cid:
First impression: Grumpy tea DILF that swears his ass off. For some reason I keep forgetting Cid is a lancer and not a gunman because??? Usually itā€™s the gunmen that get depicted all vulgar and rugged, with stubble and cigarettes.
Impression now: Grumpy tea DILF that swears his ass off. Lmao, nothing much has changed, but thereā€™s certainly a free-spiritedness to him; makes sense, the man is a pilot and wouldā€™ve been(got to be?) an astronaut. Heā€™s very tough-love in a way that both meshes and manages to be distinct from Barretā€™s flavour-- I think theyā€™d be good bros :) One thing that sours his character a bit for me is how he verbally abuses Shera :( Iā€™d normally chalk it up to his usual tough-love, but with the major plotpoint of him blaming her for his crushed dreams and how she essentially fulfills the role of an abused wife... I, Iā€™m not so sure. Overall, I like Cid, but itā€™s a shame.
Favorite moment: Ohh!!! I have a few, such as the way he joins the party, him calling Vinny back to their room, his return to the final fight-- But my favourite has to be on the Materia train hijacking sequence and the dialogue that follows if you pick Yuffie and Vincent as your party members. The dialogue is downright hilarious and you really get the sense that theyā€™ve gotten to know each other behind the scenes(love that about FFVII <3) :)))
Idea for a story: To STEAL an idea from my bud @alunchboxofsushifries she had while we were whinging about DoC, but having the gameā€™s storyline entirely revamped so that itā€™s Vincent, Cid and Yuffie doing it all together. We donā€™t know the finer details(and DoC being DoC quite frankly Iā€™m scared of knowing just w h a t might we be changing), but I love the idea alot!!!!! Again, this is my friend Veeā€™s idea, so major credit to them!!!!
Unpopular opinion: Lmao I donā€™t think I have enough opinions on him to really have an unpopular one??? Dont get me wrong-- Love the man to bits, however as of yet my focus has been all over the other party members(Barret, Nanaki, ect.) and so Iā€™m not as well-versed in what is the common fanon of this man-- Most I could say is I wished they handled his resentment towards Shera better :(
Favorite relationship: I think him and Vince are such a fun dynamic-- I lean heavily platonic, but Iā€™m sure you know Iā€™m cool with a more romantic connotation. Vince calling him chief and being this affectionately dry almost-sidekick to Cid is the absolute best and its what made me love the train sequence along with Yuffie calling him old man lmaooo-- Adding onto that, I think him and Yuffie could have a snarky grumpy old dad and snide-teenager dynamic where he gives her lectures and she goes ā€œyeah okay, papsā€.
Favorite headcanon: Sadly I donā€™t have really any(I am NOT giving you good food today, am I, Enide? :( ), but I personally think that heā€™s got the only functioning airship on the Planet. I headcanon Gaia to be roughly the size of our moon, so large enough to hold a fair amount of people but also small so everythingā€™s just a stoneā€™s throw away-- Hell, they only have one major ocean! How wild is that???
Now!!!!! Onto Vince :))))) I have alot more to say(hopefully lmaooo)
First impression: Cool edgy gunman who stands in a corner and mumbles huskily. Drinks only black coffee, if he even drinks at all. Desperately needs a hairbrush.
Impression now: This man is??? SO awkward I???? I lOVE HIM???? Heā€™s also got such a sweetness in my eyes and itā€™shdfjkjhkjhjg!!!! Like mAN, heā€™s an outwardly chill if slightly skittish older friend who keeps to the sidelines most of the times but when he does chip in itā€™s a l w a y s good and very Wise. The man is a bit of a sod, though, sometimes to the point of debilitating self-pity. First thing this guy did was tell you to fuck off and go back to sleep. He rags on himself heavily for his sins and I want to!!! Give the poor fucker a hug because lord knows he hasnā€™t had one in 27~ years :((( All around, swell guy, WOULD love to have a chill garden-bonfire chat with him :) Still needs a hairbrush, lmao. Also g o l d - p l a t e dĀ  c l o w n s h o e s .
Favorite moment: I must, again, bring up the train scene for reasons mentioned in Cidā€™s section-- But to get onto another that caught my eye, was when he returned, and Cloud was surprised, having got the feeling that Vince was cold an detached. Itā€™s both sweet, and sad. Vince cares deeply about all of this, about all of them, but because heā€™s a bit of a poker-faced recluse he doesnā€™t express it very much. I wonder how he felt, hearing that.
Idea for a story: OF COURSE, once again, Veeā€™s DoC rewrite(even more so because Vince is the main character), but I think a Seph adoption!AU, whether pre or postgame where in the former he takes Seph in and theyā€™re constantly on the run together, constantly awaiting Shinraā€™s wolves like stalked deer, or the latter where thereā€™s a tender, redemptive atmosphere but also a psychological, almost-horror element where he loves his Lucreciaā€™s son so much but also has to serve as his warden lest he be unleashed once more.
Unpopular opinion: I donā€™t think heā€™s Sephirothā€™s biological father, and, with the nigh-omnipresence of this theory, Iā€™ll be honest and say I find it a little grating? I think it weakens Hojoā€™s character and makes Vince this Real Fix-It Parent Whoā€™d Never Hurt You :) -- And I understand the appeal, of that, but honest to God it really feels like most of this comes down to Hojo Stinky Baf adn UGLIIII!!! Vimce Good adn Sweete adn Pwetty :333 Facetiousness aside, I can appreciate this being done well, as with anything! Just wish it wasnā€™t taken as almost canon in fandom spaces :(
Favorite relationship: The man is SO fun to platonically pair up with everyone itā€™s INSANE, though I donā€™t think I have a favourite ship??? Like yeah, sure him and Lucrecia had a thing once, but that whole ordeal was more of a human rights crisis and just generally a painful, tragic mess. I donā€™t think Vincent could really love like that again, not for many years. He aches, even in places he forgets arenā€™t meant to ache. Especially those. I think he gives everyone a little love in the help he hands out. Vincentā€™s heart is big and broken, and he fears that if he fills it too much, itā€™ll burst, and heā€™ll be left a beast. He needs to learn that he is worthy, but that is a task he must undertake.
Favorite headcanon: Canā€™t really think of any, as despite his mysterious nature, Vince doesnā€™t leave too many loose threads in areas of My ConcernTM-- Though if Iā€™m gonna make one up, him, Barret and Cid get together on Saturday nights to hang out around a fire with some beers and have some good Dad Talks-- Peak DILF solidarity, tbh.Ā
But yeah!!!! Took awhile to write out, hopefully these are sufficient enough for you, Oā€™ Valenwind Extraordinaire beloved! Again, as always, feel free to tack on any further thoughts of your own! Love a good discussion <3 Makes this little corner of the fandom feel warmer.

That post about "I'll keep reading a fic that mischaracterizes Dick even if it angers me because the plot is interesting" but with Scott McCall. I'll come across genuinely interesting concepts and plots and power through for that even when Scott is portrayed negatively in the story, he's there at least and it's either that or wading through 99% of fic which centers Stiles/Sterek and the most common Scott tag being "Scott's a bad friend" ya know?
Honestly, what is it about Scott McCall and Dick Grayson that gets them (mis)treated so similarly by their respective fandoms?
Oh yeah, definitely. Tbh, part of why Iā€™m so loud and obnoxious in Batfandom is because in TW fandom it eventually got to the point where I just had to stop reading fic completely, because I wasnā€™t finding anything that was Scott-friendly outside of the handful of writers I was already friends with and I just got fed up. And Iā€™m too stubborn to do the same thing twice in two separate fandoms so I just....refuse to give up on DG fic by way of a rousing morningĀ ā€œNot today Satanā€ pep talk. fhslakhfkal
But honestly, the parallels, there are more than a few:
1) Obviously I do think the racism element has plenty to do with it. Especially in the wayĀ ā€œis Scott really even Latino on the show though, I mean did they ever actually SAY itā€ arguments could be swapped out almost word for word with theĀ ā€œis Dick really even Romani in the comics though, I mean it was just a retconā€ arguments. With the primary aim of arguments against this being a factor focusing on just invalidating the idea that either are characters of color in the first place, rather than examining the way people engage with these characters for signs of racism. Instead of trying to refute that thereā€™s anything wrong with certain ways people interact with these characters, people jump right into ā€œwell there canā€™t be racism if the character in question isnā€™t even REALLY a character of color, yā€™know not like, a board-certified one with proper accreditation and everything.ā€
But its definitely interesting when you look at how Dick Graysonā€™s been perceived by fandom overall, like, in terms of looking back over the years. As someone whoā€™s been in and out of DC fandoms to various degrees since the late 90s, as in before Dick was retconned as being Romani in the first place, and as Iā€™ve said before, he used to be a LOT more popular and forgiven for stuff in the past in fandom.....like, I maintain that if you look back at the early 2000s-2010, aka when that retcon was not just written, but gradually and more fully spread into the fandomā€™s overall awareness and perception of the character....you can almost like, SEE the empathy gap suddenly click into place once he was more fully solidified as a character of color in a lot of fansā€™ minds. Even if they wonā€™t admit it because that would require admitting to the racism that then began to seep into how they interacted with this character now, compared to how theyā€™d interacted with this character in the past.
And I think the empathy gap - and the complete refusal to admit thatā€™s even a thing, because its not like these are REALLY characters of color so why would it even apply - like, I think that goes a long way to explaining the way both Scott and Dick consistently have their traumas invalidated and ignored by large parts of their fandoms, with the focus always being shifted to how bad things that happen to them are really MORE bad for how they affect the people around them, etc.
2) It also I think has a lot to do with their personalities and the archetypes they both embody as empathetic caregiver types. I think I described it pretty well here in my BUABS fic:
ā€œWhat do you know about Impostor Syndrome?"
"It's a term sometimes used to describe over-achievers who have trouble internalizing their accomplishments. Perfectionists who think they're frauds because they don't know how to take credit for their own achievements and say its because of luck or timing or something other people did," Dick frowned, puzzling through both the question and the aim of it. He raised an eyebrow. "Doesn't sound like something that applies to someone as arrogant as me."
"Don't be a little shit, Dick," Dinah said with small smirk. "And you're right, I don't think any of that applies to you. However, it's also used in another capacity, to describe trauma survivors who are unable to internalize their own trauma. Who deflect from it, or mitigate it, treat it as less than it is on the basis that it wasn't as bad as what's happened to someone else. It's especially common in trauma survivors who are noted for being especially empathetic or who have caregiver personality types. People who are so used to self-identifying as someone whose role or purpose is in helping others, that they find themselves unable to identify as traumatized because it might shift the focus to themselves instead of people they feel need it more. Does that behavior sound a little more familiar?"
(For the record, that fic is set in the YJ universe, not the comics, and I go with the approach that Dick and Bruce have a much better relationship there than they do in the comics, and thus overall Dickā€™s mental health and self-esteem are better than in the comics, generally speaking. I only mention this as a tangent, but like....I think Impostor Syndrome as an issue for perfectionists and over-achievers with low self-esteem DOES pertain to comic book Dick Grayson as well as its trauma interpretation. But anyway).
But point is, I think that describes both Dick and Scott, and their respective approaches to dealing (or not dealing) with their personal traumas. This isnā€™t a problem in and of itself, as its a valid survivor reaction and issue plenty of people deal with....the problem lies in the willingness of fans to capitalize on the OPPORTUNITIES this presents, as fans of other characters, to keep the focus trained on the characters around these two, and THEIR issues, even at the expense of these two.
Basically, its not in either of their natures to ASK for help and forcefully DRAG focus and awareness to themselves and their issues, for a number of reasons including the fact that I donā€™t think either character feels theyĀ ā€˜deserveā€™ that focus or need that help more than other people need theirs.Ā
And because these characters are the empathetic caregiver archetypes in their respective ensembles, ie the ones who usually take the lead in reaching out to even characters who donā€™t normally ask for help themselves....thereā€™s often no one else immediately popping up in reader awareness as like, a likely candidate to extend that same awareness and offer of aid to Dick and Scott even without them actually asking for it.
(Which, is a large part of my commitment to the themeĀ ā€œStop assembling your ensembles with just ONE of each archetype, mix and match more, or like....use more hybrid archetypes so you donā€™t HAVE this problem, and also, stop limiting characters to JUST their archetypes, three-dimensional people arenā€™t confined to only acting upon a limited menu of actions and impulses, and neither should three-dimensional characters be.ā€)
And then of course thereā€™s the additional component, linked to point #1, that a lot of people refuse to write other characters seeing their need for help or support or offering it even when they do see it, simply because like....they donā€™t WANT these characters to HAVE help or support.
3) The Intelligence Factor - as in, do they really have it? Both Scott McCall and Dick Grayson are repeatedly and consistently established in their respective canons as being extremely intelligent, and no, not JUST in emotional intelligence. I donā€™t like sounding like Iā€™m undervaluing that particular form of intelligence, Iā€™m just really irritated by the way people go about sayingĀ ā€œoh I do admit they have very high emotional intelligenceā€ like theyā€™re throwing them some kind of a bone. LMAO. No. They both have high emotional intelligence, true, but theyā€™re also extremely intelligent across the board in all other ways. Both are excellent strategists, quick-thinking and repeatedly out-maneuvering even other noted strategists, both display a quick grasp of new information and an ability to see how and where and when to PUT that information to use in practical applications, etc. These are not dumb characters, at ALL.
But fandoms have this weird committment to the idea that only the Smartest Person In The Room REALLY matters, and like, there can only be one of those per room, or like, at most two, so that they can be a matched pair and make kissing noises and then very smart babies, or like, they can be the doting (smart) father and his adored (smartest) son, all others can go home now.
Like, no, thatā€™s not how that works. A room full of geniuses does not suddenly become a room full of ONE genius and a bunch of random and irrelevant cuz theyā€™re dumb non-geniuses the second someone deemed King of the Smarties enters the room. Thatā€™s not a thing. Stop acting like thatā€™s a thing, fandoms. Nobodyā€™s intelligence is actually threatened by the presence of more than one character with notable intelligence. Also fuck off with the adoration of notable intelligence like people have more value the more decimal points of pi they can recite off the top of their head. Thatā€™s not a more evolved human being, thatā€™s just a nerd. Nerds have value but no more than people who like, chose other life pursuits aside from nerddom.
(Not actually intended as a slight against nerds, just for the record. I say that as both a self-described nerd and also a self-loathing nerd and also lol Iā€™m not a nerd. Look, Iā€™m a very nuanced person okay. I put the complex in complex organism).
But the point here is not just that people are weird about there only being one true genius allowed per ensemble, its that people are WEIRD about how in order to ACTUALLY be smart, you need to like.....accurately match the factory specs forĀ ā€œthis is how a smart person looks and behaves.ā€
And Scott and Dick do not look and behave that way. The sheer number of times - and similar ways - people try to completely discredit the idea they have more than one brain cell by pointing to times theyā€™re being INTENTIONALLY goofy and being likeĀ ā€œoh yeah, would a smart person do THAT, hmmmmā€.....
Its like...yes? LOL. There is no law that says that a smart person can not be a goofball, or that they are no longer smart if they fulfill a certain quota of actions deemedĀ ā€˜dopeyā€™ by the official arbiters of smartness.
Similarly the way people like to point at stuff likeĀ ā€œmy mom buys the groceriesā€ when the writers BEHIND the characters were intentionally trying to play up a comedic moment rather than make a sealed declaration of IQ, and be like, ā€œsee, would a smart person be THAT dumb, hmmm?ā€
First of all, yes, even going off the same canon people try and cite as proof Scott and Dick are too dumb to actually be smart.....you can literally find similarlyĀ ā€˜dumbā€™ moments for every other TW character....the Sheriff expressed incredulity that Stiles didnā€™t know what a pendant was, and Lydia was like wtf how are you this dumb at Stiles when he asked if she read the movie the Little Mermaid because he didnā€™t know there was also a book.....Allison made the same mistake about bestiary as Scott did because the writers were so impressed by that joke they literally had to do it twice....and do not get me STARTED on the number of moments I can point to in comics AND movies AND cartoons where everyone from Bruce to Tim to Jason to Damian and more, like, make utter bonehead moves or utter completely bonehead sentences.
Despite what rumors of my being an ancient eldritch being might have some believe, I did not actually know Albert Einstein personally, but I can still with complete confidence say I GUARANTEE that at more than one point in his life, even he did things that might have been pointed at by time-travelers on vacay as evidence that geez, old-timey smart people were really dumb, huh.
And I think we would all agree that Albert Einstein was actually a very smart man.
But yeah, point is, both Scott and Dick are very smart characters who for a lot of reasons - including personal choice, as in, they donā€™t really see the appeal in conforming to standards of what a smart person is SUPPOSED to be like (especially when those standards have a weird amount in common with tendencies often described as elitist or condescending or like, having or pertaining to the qualities of an asshole) - like, they just donā€™t typically behave or conduct themselves in ways that match up with a lot of the assumptions people have for whatĀ ā€˜makesā€™ a genius or what thatā€™s supposed to look or sound like.
And because they donā€™t SEEM like theyā€™re that smart, a lot of effort then gets put into insisting that theyā€™re definitely not, and they canā€™t be, because see look how dumb here and here and here.....which then leeches over into other aspects of the characters and their stories and dynamics, and then combines with the issues resulting from Point 1 and Point 2 and probably two more Iā€™m not thinking of at the moment but are definitely there so that by their powers combined.....fandom summons Captain Dumbass to take over most interactions with these particular characters. And thus repeatedly and insistently engages with these two and their stories only in very dumb, very limited, and VERY annoying ways.

Do you think the DC fandom maybe, Infantilizes Tim a little too much? Like for a rich kid character who's main trauma for a long time was a getting left home alone too much there's an oddly amount of meta abt how much how much his parents hurt him~ compared to, y'know the two poor characters who grew up with physically abusive dad's+druggie mom's, or the two that were raised assassin cult's, etc
ā€¦well, yeah, I do kind of think that? His whole schtick for so long was being too old for his age in ways that didnā€™t sacrifice his jokey, relatable teenager energies. Itā€™s weird how little of that we see anymore, sometimes.
And then DC broke him and discarded him and heā€™s sort of awkwardly hanging around getting reimagined as more woobie with every fan generation. It is weird!
But tbh I do get it. And I think the reason his parentsā€™ failure of him and his vulnerability get played up so much, and Jason and Stephā€™s sufferings (while used a lot for things like motivation and context) not dwelt on quite so much in the same lugubrious style, are kind of the same reason.
Which is that canon didnā€™t commit to it. Jason and Stephā€™s experiences with bad parenting were foregrounded and retconned more dramatically awful several times. (Thereā€™s some definite classism in how that was approached imo, and Iā€™m never budging on being mad about DC retconning out Catherine being sick and then ignoring her forever in all Jason characterization because a drug death invalidates a person ig, great message during the opioid crisis guys.)
They engaged and coped with itā€“Steph (and Cass, our #1 canon batfam parental abuse victim) pretty directly, Jason a little less so because of the dubious and fluctuating canon status of most of the content more specific than ā€˜poverty, homelessness, theft, parental drugs and crime in there somewhere,ā€™ so most of his parent issues have been focused on Bruce. He sure has dug into them tho. šŸ˜‚ Rarely well or productively, thanks DC, but itā€™s explicitly part of his character, is my point.
Whereas upper-middle-class Tim was always treated by the narrative as fortunate and unharmed by his experiences with his parents. Even though they were clearly behaving badly in several ways, and Tim showed signs of being harmed by it.
Tim outside of immediate moments of frustration always was of the opinion he was Fine, and Very Fortunate Actually.
Therefore a huge chunk of the numerous everyone whoā€™s got parent-related mental and emotional harm, but has struggled to have that validated and hasnā€™t responded with a lot of anger toward the parent, identifies with Tim. The only one whoā€™s never really lashed out at his parents for fucking up with him. The one who still needs it explored, because canon ultimately didnā€™t.
[editing post to put in a readmore because lol itā€™s long, post otherwise unchanged]
(Dick obviously didnā€™t ever have any Issues with the Graysons, but he Angry Teenagered at Bruce so hard it changed Bruceā€™s characterization permanently, rip.)
The things Jason, Steph, and Cass have been through are dramatic, obvious, and fit stereotypes because thatā€™s what theyā€™re based on.
Thatā€™s important content to have, but because itā€™s right out there in your face even people who identify with it quite a lot are less likely to feel the need to work all the way through it again in fanworks. That partā€™s there. Itā€™s text.
(Well actually Jason having been physically abused kind of wasnā€™t? I think? It was mostly assumed on the basis of stereotyping and Jasonā€™s not caring about the man much even as he felt possessive of information about his death, which is valid. I donā€™t actually know whatā€™s up with Willis now, Lobdell did some weird shit that lacked emotional resonance or staying power because heā€™s Lobdell and has no soul.
Cassā€™ wandering years are also ludicrously underdeveloped. But very very few comics fans or writers can personally relate to being amazing child warriors with no grasp of language living feral under bridges. That part of her life is consistently represented in terms of absences, in terms of its deviation from the norm and the deficits of normality it left her with, which is typical but unfortunate.)Ā
-
The interesting things to do with these characters are often informed by the bad stuff in their childhoods, but thereā€™s relatively rarely that much more to say about the fact that those things were bad. They know theyā€™re bad. Theyā€™ve had a lot of on-panel rage about it, as discussed above. Steph and Cass both beat the shit out of their dads.
Jason is, in fandom especially, a sort of Platonic ideal of a kid whoā€™s mad about his bad childhood and really bad at figuring out where to point that rage.
(Damian is a whole other kettle of fish, because heā€™s been lumbered by so many detailed retcons coming so fast no two people can seem to construct compatible models of what his early childhood was like, and even more because heā€™s still ā€˜a childā€™ enough that heā€™s necessarily in a different stage of processing than someone whoā€™s officially only a few years older than him at this point, but still functionally 8 and also 20 years older, and whose parents are no longer in the picture to continue screwing up.
Also thereā€™s no question that if he brings up an abusive thing the League did, he will be validated by his current environment about his realization that it was in fact bad. Thereā€™s a lot of fic on that theme! But it doesnā€™t have the same tone precisely because it is usually understood that that support will be there if he wants it. Realizing that his previous context contained things that were wrong keeps being made the focus of his arc.)
The badness of Timā€™s childhood, on the other hand, was mainly in subtext. Even when we were clearly meant to understand Jack was fucking up, like when he canceled plans with Tim at the last minute to go on a date with Timā€™s stepmother, or that infamous time he came to apologize for not being a great parent and got mad Tim was distracted by a crisis on TV so he flew into a rage and took the TV and smashed it and was like ā€˜thatā€™ll teach you,ā€™ it wasnā€™t leaned into.
The story didnā€™t treat Jack as a minor villain to be overcome but like a sort of environmental hazard of childhood, like homework, to be endured and coped with. Tim said things like ā€˜itā€™s fineā€™ and ā€˜at least he left the computer.ā€™
(And like. Itā€™s not about having a TV and computer in his room. Itā€™s about not letting a child have boundaries, pointedly not respecting a childā€™s possessions, creating an emotionally insecure environment, punishing minor infractions in proportion to their momentary impact on your own ego, physically lashing out at a proxy for the childā€¦)
Rather like Tom King later didnā€™t understand about the punching from Bruce, whoever did that story (probably Dixon? I donā€™t care enough to check) did not understand how serious a case of bad parenting that scene was. That is most definitely textbook abusive behavior. (Itā€™s a hell of a lot more common abusive behavior than being a lame supervillain or shooting you when you screw up, and a lot more specific than ā€˜was a thug, might have hit me, dead now.ā€™)
And Tim was never allowed to be mad at his parents about it. It was fine. He needed to be ignored so he had the freedom to be Robin. He deserved his dad being mad at him because he was keeping secrets. He complained too much, although objectively he did not.
The universe punished him for ā€˜complaining,ā€™ more than once. We cut straight from him shunting aside his disappointment that his postcard from his parents was just to say they werenā€™t coming home yet after all with ā€˜if it will stop all the fights theyā€™ve been having lately itā€™s more than fineā€™ to them getting kidnapped.
He agreed not to come on the rescue mission. His mom never made it home, and his dad was in a coma for a while. And then ultimately Jack died as a result of Timā€™s decision to be Robin, immediately after finally deciding to accept it.
So Tim walks around feeling a huge burden of responsibility for his parentsā€™ deaths, and completely unable to process any hurt they did him as real or valid, especially in comparison with the far more blatant awfulness other people have been through, and canon is clearly never going to address it. Or even acknowledge it properly.
Let me repeat that because itā€™s kind of my main point:
People are fixated on getting Timā€™s emotional abuse validated because thatā€™s an incredibly important step in recovering from emotional abuse, and itā€™s one canon consistently denied him.
How ā€˜badā€™ things are ā€˜in comparison toā€™ problems other people have is a bad and unhealthy way to engage with trauma. Okay? Thatā€™s just a really harmful framework to apply to pain.
Itā€™s also a way that both Tim and people with experiences similar to Timā€™s are encouraged to engage with their own experiences, compounding the existing problems.
So. Not a form of relatable DC was ever actually aiming for when they tried so hard (and pretty effectively) to make him a relatable character as Robin, but an enduring one for a lot of fans.
-
So Timā€™s childhood is a natural target for fanworks in a different way than the traumas that have been made explicit and taken seriously by the text. And then a lot of that got compounded by the way the introduction of Damian as Robin was handled, and the lack of resolution that got. And his current status as not quite having a place in the family anymore.
So between the level of projection encouraged by that context and how relatively difficult to access Timā€™s Robin run has become ten years after the fact, this has led to a lot of fanworks on these themes that are based mostly on other fanworks, and stray further and further from the original content.
So at this point thereā€™s an entire wing of Timā€™s fandom wherein this side of him has expanded enormously, and he primarily exists to suffer, frequently in ways that 1) escalate to a point that is inarguably ā€˜validā€™ and hard to dismiss and 2) set him up to rebound from it in whatever way the writer finds emotionally satisfying or usefulā€“being ultimately cared for and reassured by people who value him (the most infantilizing option but like, popular for obvious reasons), or unveiling his brilliant scheme that was causing him to pretend to be passive in the face of mistreatment, or turning around and using his genius ninja skills to wrest power back from his abusers, or just laying down some sick burns about being treated fairly.
But not that many of the last one, because thatā€™s mostly done with other batfam members.
Timā€™s become a vehicle for a lot of vicarious coping that Steph and Jason just arenā€™t appropriate for, because they get angry and they get even. And those are stories that exist already, so thereā€™s less scope for telling your own.
And because Jasonā€™s reaction pattern is ultimately so masculine (iā€™ll make them all sorry! with my guns! blam blam!) while Timā€™s is pretty gender-neutral, the demographics of fanfic mean that the bulk of the people using Tim vicariously in this manner are female-aligned, which has over time feminized this archetype of him a lot. Sometimes in ways I find really uncomfortable, like thereā€™s a lot of forced pregnancy stuff which activates my panic buttons. x.x
But, ultimately, itā€™s fandom. People are going to do what theyā€™re going to do, DC in their perpetual fail has hung Tim out to dry in narrative terms, and Iā€™d rather the people who are using Tim for victimization narratives over the people who canā€™t dismiss or discredit him fast enough now that his position has been filled. šŸ¤·ā€ļæ½ļæ½ļø What we gonna do? Faveā€™s in an awkward spot. DC hates us. This is the life in this comic book pit. XD
-
Also if youā€™re the same anon who left me a callout about op of that weird Steph post in my inbox, or if you arenā€™t @ that person, 1) I refuse to get involved so Iā€™m not answering that ask 2) those arenā€™t even particularly dramatic fandom crimes? Thatā€™s pretty normal? Thatā€™s justā€¦Caring Too Much About Ships And Disagreeing With Me.
Do I also feel those opinions are kinda bad? Yeah. But I disagree with everyone about something. Chill.

What I love about them: ....where do I begin dfghjkhg
Seriously though, I really do love (canon) Cassandraā€™s character and watching how she develops in the background throughout the show. Her largely backseat role to the plot throughout season 1-early season 2 that leads into her later conflict of feeling neglected; early abandonment trauma and likely military-esque raising playing into her need to be useful to others (and subsequent feelings of despair and anger when she feels as if that usefulness is being taken from her).....sheā€™s just a messĀ with a snarky attitude and thatā€™s why I love her so much sdfghgfd. Disaster characters that desperately need therapy are and always will be my jam
What I hate about them: NoĀ
Favorite Moment/Quote:
Iā€™m very slowly chipping away at my first rewatch in a long time so I canā€™t remember many details from s2 or 3, butĀ  I get very amused by theĀ ā€˜youā€™re just going to have to trust meā€™ line in WTH. The delivery of that monologue is just so great tbh.
What I would like to see more focus on:
Her bitterness from season 1/2 building to a boiling point in season 3, and this justified anger being blown out of proportion by the moonstone and Zhan Tiri but still. being justified at its core. Just. Please deal with Cassandraā€™s actual issues instead of foisting them on Gothel,,,,,
Also THE HAND. They essentially forgot the hand after using up its relevance inĀ  RDO and it makes me mad. Show us Cass struggling with that hand, and if the Moonstone negates the pain and mobility issues, show us her struggle with that too. Permanent injuries have permanent effects, and Iā€™m very over cartoons just conveniently forgetting about injuries once theyā€™re no longer plot relevant or useful.Ā
What I would like to see less focus on:
Her relation to Gothel, tbh. Both in the show and in fandom. I think there are ways it could be used effectively, but seeing as it was done in canon....just ditch it. Itā€™s a left-field conflict that gives Cass a scapegoat to dump her issues on instead of forcing her and Rapunzel to deal with the actual problems that got them to this point (and conveniently allowing Rapunzel to not have to face her mistakes).
Favorite pairing with:
Cassunzel is the otp yā€™all, especially in a post-canon rendition (Erazonā€™s CTA auĀ is one of my favorites)
Ā Favorite friendship:
Eugene, definitely. I wish weā€™d gotten to see more of them getting to be closer friends.
NOTP:
Aside from the obvious of characters who are minors, definitely Cass and Andrew (Iā€™m sure thereā€™s worse ships out there but I would not like to find out)
Favorite headcanon:
Ooooh thatā€™s a good question. Most of my thoughts for Cass fall into au territory tbh, but I think my favorite that fits with canon is that she has a very fast metabolism and simply Cannot eat enough food (which Eugene loves to tease her about)

That character ask I just reblogged for Anduin, Vol'jin, Saurfang and Sylvanas? any or all
I'll do 'em all simply because I'm bored as all hell and nothing better to do to kill time, though I'm skipping the NOTP part for them because I don't believe in that kind of negativity and also I just plain don't have any lol
will put under cut just bc a lil long (shrugs)
Anduin What I love about them: I'm just a huge fan of sweet, pacifist characters who stick to their guns even in a harsh world that disagrees with them - Anduins a very good example of that. What I hate about them: The way they went with his story instead of going with the Shadow/Void set up they had going on like wtf was that blizz šŸ™ƒ Favorite Moment/Quote: Probably his conversation with Saurfang and how that boy Did Not Flinch whatsoever when Saurfang threatened him but it's tied with him absolutely decimating a dreadlord. What I would like to see more focus on: His priestly powers for sure, and his relations between the other races - both Horde and Alliance. If anyone can bring everyone together, it's him. What I would like to see less focus on: look giving him Varians sword was very symbolic and cool and tugged at my heartstrings but please stop making him a beefy warrior with a side of Light he's not a stupid Paladin lol Favorite pairing with: Anduin is one of those characters I love so much that I ship him with everyone but I think Saurfang/Anduin is an incredibly interesting one that I love, and was one of the first fics I read when I joined the fandom Favorite friendship: Does pseudo-aunt count as a friendship? Because I love his and Jaina's relationship šŸ„ŗ Favorite headcanon: Fuck what Blizz says, he's still got lasting damage from the bell and plenty of scars from it.
Vol'jin
What I love about them: What don't I love? He's the favorite <3 What I hate about them: That Blizz killed him off when he had so much potential, and also Vol'jin sir please stop talking so much about how alive you feel while murdering and get some therapy Favorite Moment/Quote: When he rose up ever so slowly from a crouch in order to be eye level with Varian but was still noticeably slouching low because šŸ„“šŸ‘€šŸ˜³šŸ˜šŸ˜©šŸ˜ What I would like to see more focus on: Just... him in general! It's really sad that a character that was Warchief of the damn Horde and has so much background in the game gets constantly shoved aside What I would like to see less focus on: get that egg boy out of his damn EGG I wanna see my little boy Favorite pairing with: Tyrathan, but GOD is Varian a close second because I have had so many Vari'jin brainworms for ages lately. Favorite friendship: Okay, look, not canon, but I think him and Anduin would have hit it off well, and no one can change my damn MIND okay (but for canon, Baine and Go'el :)) Favorite headcanon: He's mischievous, and also a pretty big hopeless romantic under it all :)
Saurfang
What I love about them: I just really think Saurfang is such a compelling character? There's so much depth and history to him that his story is just so. interesting and amazing idk he's just very well written What I hate about them: Until he wasn't well written and Blizz fucked up šŸ™ƒ Favorite Moment/Quote: His talk with Garrosh about his trauma has always stuck with me What I would like to see more focus on: It'd be nice to at least see him in Shadowlands, and happy. What I would like to see less focus on: bring him back dude why'd they have to get rid of him šŸ„ŗ Favorite pairing with: Already said who! I don't really ship Saurfang with anyone else other than maybe Garrosh tbh :o Favorite friendship: Zekhan my beloved Favorite headcanon: he needs reading glasses sdkjfghjkds
Sylvanas
What I love about them: Like Saurfang, I just think Sylvanas' story is really interesting and compelling! What I hate about them: Blizzards weird flip floppy writing - just make her irredeemable or not pls Favorite Moment/Quote: Def gotta be, and don't hate me for this fandom, but when she pauses and says "... Can't I?" is the BEST SHIT DUDE THAT'S SO GOOD THAT'S SUCH A GOOD VILLAIN QUOTE BIIITTTCHH LET'S GOOOOOO What I would like to see more focus on: I figure they're going for some "well sylvanas' soul was split in two and now she has the second part is back she's good again" is a huge trainwreck that I honestly kinda can't wait to watch lmfao What I would like to see less focus on: Look just... whatever they're gonna do with her, just get it over with already XD I want her story to end already, whatever ending that may be Favorite pairing with: Jaina for sure, but Nathanos a very close second! Favorite friendship: Ngl, that weird sort of friendship and sort of not friendship she has with Thrall/Baine/Vol'jin. The way they interact with each other is so entertaining man. I love when Vol'jin poked a finger at her and told her to stop bullying Baine, they act almost like disgruntled siblings more than a group of leaders lol Favorite headcanon: Her hands are skeleton-y and black and that's why she's always got the gloves :3c

Last but not least: PJO hot takes part IV!
Alright my dudes. I think weā€™re still in this game for one final round. Anyway hereā€™s wonderwall. And Part 1//Part 2//Part 3!
Percy had actually knowledge about the Greek myths. He didnā€™t waddle in blindly. Where did yā€™all even get that?
The new possible Irish myth saga will be PJO 3.0 aka Magnus Chase 2.0 aka The Kane Chronicles 1.2.
Riordan already got the names of gods of that possible saga wrong
Riordanā€˜s Asian characters only know bitch or bland mode, huh
Stop babying Annabeth for fucks sake. Seriously
How the fuck did Sally afford several private schools for Percy when they were poor as fuck? I guess Gabe had to have a some somewhat decent job but then again playing poker/being a gambler and stealing from your stepson ainā€™t a cute move
Hazel shouldā€™ve been Thanatosā€˜ kid. To break the classic 12 Olympian mold (yeah Hades/Pluto technically isnā€™t one but heā€™s still team major gods) and also to throw the damned Hitler/Pluto aesthetics away
Did any of the kids break their limps or get permanently disabled at some point? Or do they just... die (and mostly stay dead)? I forgot
Where can the kids at Camp Half-Blood actually sneak off to fuck? Percy is legit the only one to claim his own shit as his love bunker. The rest is just fucked I guess or has first hand traumatic pre-college experiences
ā€Percy cursedā€œ. Literally why, Riordan. Let the kid say fuck. He has earned the rights to do so a long time ago
Did I mention that people lack of basic reading skills in earlier takes? Anyway. Hereā€™s another reminder!
Tbh the gods are egotistical fucks and have killed people for the fuck of it. I donā€™t see Poseidon being even close to okay with Sally marrying Gabe or Paul
I still donā€™t understand why Frazel is a thing
Most of you donā€™t understand how movie production works but thatā€™s okay. Just know that everything inside your head will never be realized and there will be drastic cuts and additions to the books (again)
The electronics not working thing doesnā€™t even make any goddamn sense? Hermes is the god of the Internet. Does this mean that demigods can use the web just fine but simply canā€™t call each other? This really came back to bite Riordan in the ass now did it? Wouldnā€™t it make more sense to use old means of communication once youā€™re trying to reach more important/godly people or electronics fail in an accute situation?
Turning everyone heteroflexible creates the image that youā€™re simply liking a character for the fact that they are LGBTQ and not the character itself, just saying. More representation sure, but that itself isnā€™t a personality trait and shouldnā€™t be the main focus of a character unless itā€™s really defining in the story line (Nicoā€˜s arc partially for example)
Tbh, HOO shouldā€™ve been aged up mentor Percabeth protecting CHB, with the rest of the gang fucking up Greece with aged Reyna + Nico perhaps. I might post an outline on that AU someday (someone should remind me about that tho)
On one hand you have in depth discussions and people diving into the matter and talking about every nook and cranny and on the other hand people are more then just fine with stereotyping and deflecting. Whut. Okay
Why are people shipping the lie that is Jasper/Jasiper
Stop romanticizing the gods
Dark!Percy is just a cheap way for you to turn Percy into an overpowered asshole and thatā€™s that tea
Being in a relationship isnā€™t a personality trait, my dear shippers
Riordanā€˜s timeline is off because the coke rush didnā€™t last that long
The wasted potential of everything past PJO makes me want to cry
Percyā€™s fatal flaw isnā€™t stupid, Riordan just didnā€™t flesh it out properly which is why there were no real repercussions. A fatal flaw is supposed to be hindering you and not a compliment
The fact that adult people still canā€™t take jokes about their favorite characters is fucking insane part II
Why the fuck did the Stolls get tossed aside? Bruh. The potential? The stigma as a Hermes kid? They trying to redeem their cabins honor? Imagine one of them as a prophecy kid in HOO (and theyā€™d switch and swap to confuse everyone)? Yes??
Every single one of you that essentially is team poc!Percy because he had a rough upbringing deserves to get slapped. Poverty, abuse, a single parent, etc. doesnā€™t equate to being poc?!?!? Smells racist just saying
Turning Hazel into Nicoā€˜s sister was cheap af
Stop romanticizing and down playing the myth aspect. Tragedy is essential and will haunt demigods. Thank you, next
Also stop babying Percy
Letā€™s be honest none of those fuckers make it to college
Annabeth Chase is fucking WHITE part II. Sheā€™s not biracial, sheā€™s not ā€exoticā€œ, sheā€™s certainly not fucking black. Sheā€™s white with a little hint of a tan. That still makes her white. Do you really want to turn her into Ariana Grande 2.0? A fucking botched orange? This is your Annabeth aesthetic? Artists get it fucking right unless you state that you portray her as [spraytan headcanon] which is still fucking cheap letā€™s be real. Orange Annabeth isnā€™t part of the kulture
Regardless of the reception of the PJO movies, Iā€™ll never forgive you people for letting Logan Lerman aka the OG white boyā„¢ flop. Throw Tom ā€œlipless but okay bootyā€œ Holland and TimothĆ©e ā€I missed a few mealsā€œ Chalamet the fuck away!
Tbh a less romanticized version of the camps wouldā€™ve been more interesting. Iā€™m still put off by CJ (and also the fact that CHB is a summer camp), but had there been more fights and actual deaths that had happened around the camps due to training, etc. you wouldā€™ve understood immediately why demigods dipped before the age of 18. The antithetical nature of sweet summer camp and people dying left and right wouldā€™ve been amplified
Did Reyna at some point in time even have the time to breath with all of the shit that went down? Her life is simply 24/7 stressful. I get that she wanted to bounce and no longer be in a tiring and demanding position but the hunters ainā€™t it sis
Itā€™s okay to admit that fanon artwork or fanfics donā€™t deserve the webspace they are wasting. But phrase that probably in a nicer way
PJO Calypso wasnā€™t annoying. HOO & TOA Calypso on the other hand...
Alex Pettyfer wouldā€™ve been a better Luke Castellan but Jake Abel did an okay job
Percy isnā€™t an idiot. You are one for believing so
Riordan corrected the stance that Muslims donā€™t shower during Ramadan (literally how in the fuck did he come up with that in the first place?!) in upcoming MC books. Can he use the same energy to rewrite HOO tho??
Lukeā€™s portrayals in SoM and TTC were straight up trash
Historically accurate PJO wouldā€™ve been everything
Monsters can detect demigods by smell. Camo wouldnā€™t do jack shit ffs
Jason is still bland and making jokes/pointing that out is more than okay
Omfg accept the fact that characters can have multiple facets all good and bad. Reducing them to one specific trait makes them boring and bland. Also it stereotypes
Getting mad over the fact that Clarisse has a boyfriend is still fucking insane
Not everyone needs to be a fanfic writer or an artist, a theorist or someone that analyzes everything phrase by phrase. As long as youā€™re in the fandom to enjoy works & discussions and remain on the saner side of the spectrum youā€™re good. Youā€™re valid. Donā€™t forget that.
Not wanting to stay in a fandom and merely enjoying some of the fruits/benefits as in art/fics/headcanons is also super valid
PJO Reddit, Tumblr, IG and Twitter are a cesspool of chaotic mess and straight up trash but Tumblr > Reddit >>>>>> IG >>>>>> Twitter
Tbh: just try to enjoy a decent book series. Itā€™s all not that deep

I saw someone the other day here on good ol' tungle complain (before the show came out, mind you) that Claire wasn't going to be in the show enough and wasn't gonna play an integral role, and like. I can understand why that thought is upsetting, bc the girl is a badass and deserves more screentime for sure, but like not only did they end up being wrong (our girl kicked ass, played a huge role in the plot, and was just generally amazing) but they had like, blamed Leon a little bit for it? As tho it was his fault the writers don't give three shits about the female protagonists in the franchise (who, if I remember correctly, only one of which gets an actual entire game to herself? The rest, to my knowledge, are POV swapping games, which are fine but like. Come on Capcom)??? It was v weird and caused me to unfollow them bc they were already disappointed by the show, they blamed Leon, and they acted like, surprised? I don't know about you, but I'm never surprised by franchises like this when they put one of their main female characters on/in the promotional to garner attention and then she's actually only in it for five seconds. That's just misogyny (which I'm not excusing or saying is okay, obvs, but don't push blame onto the other main character, just bc he's the main character? Leon didn't choose to push Claire out of the spotlight, and honestly I don't even think he did. Like he got more screentime then her, yeah, but I think this is as close as we were gonna get to a fair split amount of time between the two, with capcom's history of "women? What women? Oh you mean convenient plot devices?"), so don't hate on people who love Leon, and don't hate on the character himself. Like what the what? As a Leon lover (he is my favorite, I love him sm), I am pissed that we never get to see Claire in anything, that we hardly ever saw Jill after RE3, and that all female protags are secondary to their male counterparts. It's bullshit, frankly, but taking it out on other fans and the other characters in the franchise is. Not good, and will just isolate you further from the fandom. Don't know if this is a hot take or not lol and I'm not trying to like be mean or start a fight with anyone, I just needed to rant about this bc it was bothering me and I figured you would kinda get where I was coming from? Also I love your rants, you are v knowledgeable lol
okay so... i saw some of that going around too. and it doesn't really make sense to me for multiple reasons. first of all, some people already decided that ID would suck even before it came out, they decided Claire would get no screen time and decided they'd ruin her character and... all of that before they'd seen more than the trailers? and I just don't get it, why not give it a chance before judging it?
i do understand that people want Claire to have a big role and want her to get the chance to shine. i want that, too! she absolutely deserves that! and I get being scared of what would become of it! i was nervous beforehand that they'd take the characters (both of them) into a direction that I'd find disappointing. when I pressed play on the first episode I was terrified as much as excited, because there was no way of knowing before seeing it.
but i do think it's important to press play and watch for yourself before condemning the entire thing.
and as for blaming Leon for Claire allegedly not having a large enough part in it? it... makes zero sense. it's not like they're living breathing people who have an actual say in what happens? :'D overall I find it weird how readily people jump to attack other characters to defend their own favorites. I don't understand this whole shooting down others to lift your own fave. there are ways to appreciate a character without hating on everyone else.
(that is not to say you're not allowed to hate on characters! of course you can hate characters! but like. you don't need to hate whoever you deem a "rival" just because. it's not a competition.)
and yeah, there is a long history of misleading promotion where a character is advertised as a main character and then sidelined to only appear for a bit. and it was a possibility. but it didn't happen, and I for one am happy about it. (what I am disappointed in, is that they made it seem like Leon and Claire would work together, while they did that for like two and a half minutes. but well. can't win them all)
(tangentially, they did something a bit similar to Chris in re8 too, the promotions relied super heavily on him but from what i understood (without having actually played the game, so correct me if i'm wrong!) he was a playable character for a very small portion of the game. so. they used him and his fanbase for promotion a little misleadingly. so yeah it is a real concern that could've happened)
like you said, Leon might've gotten more screentime if you only count the minutes. but Claire was an integral part of the story, she was fighting for the things she believes in, she got to be fierce (that headbutt is like the highlight of the movie :'D) and it wouldn't have been the same without her.
yeah it is bullshit how Capcom just threw Jill aside, and are tragically underusing a lot of their female characters. and I'm not trying to excuse that. but I do think they have a general problem with forgetting all of their characters except for Chris and Leon, who have gotten to be in most things (even tho to be fair they're not getting a fully consistent storyline either but. they do get screentime?). they create the most wonderful characters and then forget all about them, and it sucks.
but that's a problem with the people who make these movies and games. not the characters in said movies and games. so taking your own disappointment out on other characters and their fans is just... counter productive at best. it just leads to anger and resentment and the absolutely pointless fandom wars no one benefits from. i, for one, am too old for that bullshit.
so yeah, I get what you're coming from. it is so frustrating to see the unfounded hate. and tbh I've seen Leon get quite a bit of it. but that just comes with the territory I guess. he is popular, and some people react badly to it. which doesn't make sense to me, personally, but hey it is what it is.
I know it's easier said than done, but try to focus on the good! we got new content, Leon and Claire both got to be important parts in the story, they both kicked ass and looked amazing doing it! for the most part they both felt very in character, and I have high hopes we might get more in the form of season 2! :3
also, I'm glad you're enjoying my ramblings :'D I have a lot of thoughts but I usually get carried away rambling and I'm never sure how much sense i make, lol.
