Rapunzel & Eugene | First Day of My Life

I really wish they delved into that orphan bond more in C vs E. It would’ve been cool to see Cass confiding to Eugene some memory she might’ve had from the cottage. And have Eugene understand that not everyone is as open about being abandoned as he is while also having Cass understand that she doesn’t have to dwell on it cause she’s made her own family

Except it's entirely within Cassandra's right (and personality) to close herself off rather than talk about her feelings and her private life. She does it time and time again, and in "Under Raps," Eugene even advises Rapunzel to leave her alone instead of pestering her to talk about things she doesn't want to reveal.

because i’ve been in a tangled mood i have a little au going on in my head as i do with any new interest

so yk how both varian and cassandra betrayed corona right??? but only one of them had to actually repay or serve jail time for their actions. can you guess who?? welll OBVIOUSLY ITS VARIAN!! CASS DID WORSE THAN THE KID YET SHE GOT NO PUNISHMENT!! i mean i love her but still that’s fishy 👀 like varian really did waste part of his teen life in jail. ANYWHO this happens like a few years after the finale, raps is finally queen woohoooo!!

Varian realizes this and gets upset and eventually tells Rapunzel and Eugene

Because Rapunzel and the gang were out exploring outside of the walls of Corona while Varian was stuck in jail, Rapunzel and Eugene thought that they should at least try to make it up to Varian. Yeah it might not bring back all that wasted time but it’s something.

The two come up with a plan in which they take Varian to go to all of the places they went to while on their trip to the dark kingdom

Varian, while hesitant at first, agrees to do this.

Rapunzel couldn’t be gone for so long cause yk queen and queen duties, so Eugene was the one responsible for the trip

besides max can just take over the position of captain of the royal guards

Eugene, Varian, and the Schnitz family are the ones who go to the trip

They go with the plan of visiting the same places Eugene and gang went to years back

Varian at first is fine with it but later on he feels odd at the fact that Eugene already knows about the places and whenever people ask the question “Where were you during that time?” he feels odd

eventually he tells Eugene about this and asks if they can make new adventures instead, it’ll be fun for everyone

“Of course Varian, this trip is about you, so we will do what you wanna do.”

They visit many new places

and gets into trouble in some if not all of these new visits

in one of the locations, they run up to Cass

People, who are later revealed to be trainees of hers, attack the gang believing they were danger

As Varian is fighting off with one of them, Cassandra stops them and apologizes.

keep in mind her face was covered as she was wearing a hood of some sorts

when she looks at the person she had just saved, she realizes that it’s Varian

Cassandra as she was granted freedom is now much calmer and more open, so seeing her old friend again brings her to much excitement

Varian explains to her that their friends are in danger so Cassandra tells her trainees there’s no need to worry as she knows these people

Eugene notices the woman and she looks familiar but he can’t put his finger on it.

“Cassandra?” “Eugene! Lance! Girls!”

happy little reunion with happy little folks

what’s unhappy tho is when once the gang settled in to stay for a while, Cass and Eugene had a talk in which Eugene reveals the plan and of Varian’s feelings

Cassandra at first feels guilty but Eugene tells her there’s no need for that and so yeah

now Cass’ main goal is for Varian to enjoy himself and this trip he has been granted

this may be over analyzing and idc but look at this first

zuko and katara & flynn rider and maximus have the same dynamic. i’ll get to who is who…later

ok listen

first, both friendships start out hating each other’s guts. which is…….valid. they have good reasons

in atla, when zuko first joins the gaang, katara still doesn’t trust him and hates him, but she has to put up with it until he proves he’s not necessarily “bad” anymore

similar thing happens for flynn and maximus. once maximus finds flynn to arrest him, rapunzel makes an offer

she asks maximus not to arrest flynn for 24 hours until she gets to see the lanterns on her birthday, then after that, they can do whatever they want to each other.

similar way that katara basically threatens zuko saying if you mess up even once, i’ll end you myself (which she’s perfectly capable of)

going back to tangled, maximus isn’t on board right away bc he has to work with flynn, JUST like katara was when zuko asked to join to gaang

see where i’m going with this? hope so.

anyway, this is where it differs, but still play similar roles so bare with me here

after boiling rock, zuko has come closer with aang, sokka, and suki, but he still hasn’t made any progress with toph and katara. based on this post, he doesn’t even knows katara’s name after “the southern raiders” episode. he only knows her by “sokka’s sister”.

zuko had to prove himself to katara that he’s truly a good person and he helped her overcome and officially have closure with her moms death which is an important factor in katara’s character development

so at the end of “the southern raiders” katara is able to forgive zuko for his past actions

in tangled, maximus doesn’t technically forgive flynn

maximus cares a lot about rapunzel and doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her and when he sees flynn trying to protect her as well, he starts acting nicer to him realizing they both have the same goal. to help and protect rapunzel.

AND and, in atla, katara and zuko have the same goals. to take down the fire lord and to help and protect aang.

but what’s different about how the friendships came to be friendships is that flynn and maximus slowly and naturally developed into a frenemies type of friendship

katara just forgave zuko and they’re friendship just grew from there

both flynn and zuko have a past of doing bad things

both maximus and katara are willing to forgive and offer second chances

this part is based on a popular hc so i’m gonna incorporate it into this

in conclusion, both friendships make fun of each other platonically

both friendships went from “i hate you” (derogatory) to “i hate you” (affectionate)

both friendships are enemies to friends

these are one of my favorite friendship dynamics in entertainment because it’s just so comedic and can get so creative

i think you’ve already connected to dots but

katara’s maximus and zuko’s flynn.

“Bring it on!” Lance cheered, pulling on his sleeve,

“No offense, Varian, Lance. But moi is going to win those perfectly delicious cookies.” Eugene proudly boasted.

“Let’s see.”

in the end, Lance won. Why? While the two were busy doing stunts and whatnot. They accidentally fell off their boards, giving Lance the opportunity to overtake them and eventually winning.

I HAVE.. A DISNEY THEORY

About mother gothel ..

After watching rapunzel and then slowly becoming obsessed with the villan, as one does. I noticed a couple things that stood out to me, these things slowly came together to give me one conclusion. Mother gothel is Welsh🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. And if you know the history of wales then it'll make sense. The first thing that stood out to me was mother gothels dress, the creator's of Tangled said they made mother gothel dress different from the current era to show how old she was, and that "Old dress" reminds me alot of the iron age celtic dress. For example

•The cut of the neck is both low and rounded

•The sleeves are both wide and low

•The dresses are both long and fitting around the body

• also the belts

Apart from the similarities of the dress, she also has some North Walian features such as pale skin, rosy cheeks ( which could possibly be blush) and thick dark hair. And know your probably thinking if Mother gothel is welsh, why would she be in the kingdom of Corona. Well to help you understand why gothel would be in corona, we need to look at the history of wales or more specifically Britannia. Around 84 AD, before the English and before the vikings, the romans invaded, and where is corona set, Italy. My theory goes that around the time of the Roman invasion mother gothel was taken and brought to italy, where she managed to flee from the romans, after running away she then found that hidden tower and stayed there until at some point she found the Magic flower that kept her young for a couple hundred years. And thats my theory.

All I can say is that if Cassandra genuinely attempts to kill Rapunzel, I want a legitimate fight between her and Eugene. I want him to try to take her down, and for his fear and fury to up his skill game. I want an actual skilled brawl. I want him in that place he gets to when the stakes are high, and all of his survival instincts have kicked in. The kind of situation where he can forcefully pull Sideburns Stabbington against the prison bars and see the fear in the other man’s eye.

Yes, Cassandra has trained harder, and yes, she has the Moonstone and is learning the magic and will probably win the fight, but I want Eugene to give her a run for her money, if only for a moment. All because he knows Rapunzel’s in danger.
