EVERY SINGLE DAY there are MILLIONS of characters in their late 20s who get falsely accused of being father figures to teenagers when in reality the description of "weird older cousin" or "step-sibling that moved out before you were born" is 1000000x more apt

Reimu is definitely serious now. Once she's let go from the cyclone, Reimu wastes no time positioning herself in front of Tiamat and firing exorcising needles on her, even as she undergoes her transition to the next phase.

"Like I'd let myself be defeated by someone so selfish!" Reimu gazes upon Tiamat's new intimidating form and grits her teeth. She can't let someone so frivolous with her power take control of Gensokyo. It would become chaos!

Reimu decides to lay on a full assault, using both her focused needles while at the same time letting her orbs fire homing ofuda. As soon as Tiamat raises her claw, the shrine maiden starts to feel herself being pulled in again.

As much as Reimu tries to fight, she is unable to break free from the force that's binding her. Her feet land on the cold floor and she stares up at the massive figure in front of her preparing to hammer her claw down.

Not only that, but danmaku is closing in on her as well. If she doesn't think fast, then Reimu is going to be crushed.

Suddenly, the ofuda stop firing and the orbs all mesh back together into one. Reimu hits the single large orb with her gohei like a baseball, and it starts wildly bouncing around the walls of the throne room, destroying rows of danmaku bullets.

Once Reimu feels a slight shift in the force binding her, she quickly dashes into a spot cleared of the danmaku and is propelled forward by the force of the impact hitting the crystalline floor.

The miko orb rebounds back to Reimu, and she hits it with her gohei again, this time hitting Tiamat with it. She does so again a few more times before her feet start getting dragged against the floor with a squeak. She manages to keep herself grounded for a little bit, but ends up being dragged back in front of Tiamat as soon as she kicks the orb away from her again.

Imminent danger looms over Reimu again as Tiamat prepares for a second attack. The dragon god raises her claw, and this time the orb starts being dragged in as well, but before it can hit the shrine maiden,

"Release!" Reimu cries out to her orb which splits back into four and shoots homing ofuda onto Tiamat while Reimu hits her with needles from the front, hoping that she can end the spell card before the dragon god hammers her claw down a second time.

As that spell card breaks, Tiamat finally pauses for a moment, laughing softly in amusement.

"Well well well...It seems you've proven yourself worthy of being a bit more serious now. Prepare yourself...For your inevitable defeat, Hakurei Reimu." She summoned a mask over her face...Her "war mask", which she wore when she intended to go to battle seriously, to prevent the enemy's blood from splattering into her eyes.

Her eyes glowed brightly through the mask menacingly as she initiated her next spell card.

Monstrous Annihilation "Inescapable Claws of Death"

She raised a single claw, emitting an array of white, spiraling danmaku outwards as she began forcefully drawing Reimu towards her. It was so strong that she couldn't even begin to fly against this force this time, only released from it at the very last moment when she was right in front of the dragon god, having been forced to dodge her way through that whole field of danmaku while being drawn in.

With that, Tiamat would swing her claw down, slashing through space itself and leaving a massive claw mark in the air which unleashed several lasers targeted right at Reimu before closing again. To make matters worse...Next time, the pull dragging her in was even stronger, forcing her in faster and making it even harder to dodge all the danmaku coming towards her.

Shipping is fun and all but I swear every single time someone makes a comment, whether as a joke or in a legitimate analysis, about there being "no other explanation" for a pair's interactions, I lose just a bit more of my sanity

Like, no, you guys don't get it. Romance is not about the Amount of devotion, it's about the COLOR. the FLAVOR of it all. a character can be just as devoted to their platonic friend as they are to their romantic partner, and they don't love either of them more, just differently.

But because the majority of people still have it stuck in their minds that romance exists on the highest tier of love, I'm stuck seeing endless takes that boil down to "these two care about each other too much for it to NOT be romantic" as if that's the core determining factor to how literally any of this works

In conclusion: stop telling me that I don't understand the story if I don't interpret the leads as romantic, I am TIRED
