the ultimate beginner metadata tutorial !! by a dummy :3

HEY PALS AND PEOPLE doing some tips and tutorials ,,,, kinda explaining the metadata that people do in rentry

the site already have a "tutorial" on the "how" window, these on the post are the ones who need further explanation

i will put in topics and try to do my best on this, its a long read!

• the border i will be using for example its by @/suturical on this post

• now, how to understand this and make the magic happen?

GOTCHA!!!

1. Borders: container adjustements

• the least important thing is the container width, you can put as you please but i use it on 400px — 610px, its just my recommendation

• now the padding is important, its basically the distance between the border and the elements of your rentry

• example: padding on 25px

• example: padding 20px

2. Borders: slice

• the image slice is basically how much it will slice your border and repeat it, i recommend using it 20% – 40%, however adjust as you please!

• example: slice 37%

• example: slice 23%

big difference isnt it? and i only changed the slice part, nothing else!

3. Borders: width

• basically the width of the border, adjust as you please but i also recommend to put on 30px as its the maximum size you can put

• example: width 30px

• example: 15px width

4. Borders: repeat

• this is another thing that dont have much secret and explanation about, there are 4 repeating types for borders, they are:

• stretch: will stretch the original size of the border across the entire container

• round: most used, 'normal', will make your border get around the container

• repeat: will repeat a certain part of the graphic image across the sides

• space: will give space between the repetitions

• onto the next part, text!

2. Text: font applying

• ngl its pretty simple, first catch ANY font of the google fonts site and do like the screenshot above, detail, if you font name has a space between the name (example: playfair display) you MUST put the _ to substitute the space, or it won't work

• but if the font name doesn't have any spaces, write it normally

2. Text: text size

• also really simple, explore the sizes on the rentry, i use it 10px – 25px, adjust to your liking!

2. Text: coloring

• tired of coloring all sentences manually? just do the code from screenshot and input your color! it can be written like i did or the hex code/whatever!

• you can still color things manually even when using this

• final with all these changes:

"How do I look?" you asked, spinning around slowly, as you checked yourself in the mirror before turning to Mizu. Your eyes twinkled with mischief as you noticed her gaze lingering on your rear end.

The two of you had already been in a relationship together for almost a year now. To celebrate your anniversary, you both decided to fly to Japan for a trip.

Your question clearly broke her out of her trance. "You look great." she muttered, looking your outfit up and down. Then she walked up to you, keeping her hand on your waist, giving you a quick kiss on the cheek. "Let's go." her hand went from your waist to your hand, pulling you behind her. Your heart racing with excitement, allowing Mizu to lead the way out of the hotel room and down the stairs, hand in hand.

As Mizu navigated you through the hotel lobby, heads turned their way, drawn by their youthful energy and evident chemistry. Both of you didn't seem to notice or care about the attention, lost in your own world as you embarked on your day together.

As you two walked along the street, your eyes caught the stalls with colorful items. You let go of Mizu's hand and walked over to the stand with small glass animal figurines. They were the size of your little finger but were very colorful and detailed which made them unique. Mizu followed you like a lost puppy, her curiosity piqued by your sudden interest. She glanced at the little figurines and let out a soft gasp of admiration. "They're beautiful." she commented, reaching out to touch one of them with a fingertip.

The seller looked up from cleaning another figurine, his eyes lighting up when he saw Mizu. "Ah! A fellow collector!" he said excitedly. "Which ones catch your eye?"

You looked at the seller and then at Mizu, waiting to see how she would get out of this situation. Seeing her confused look, you giggled quietly and you tried to direct her with your eyes to a small figurine of two sleeping cats, cuddled together. Mizu raised her eyebrows, looking at you and then looking at the figurines. Finally her eyes landed on the adorable pair of cats and she couldn't help but smile softly. "These are adorable."

"Ah, true love!" the seller laughed heartily, his wrinkled face lighting up with delight, as he saw the tension between you two. "These two are called Eternal Love, they symbolize everlasting companionship and passion shared between two souls. They would make perfect gifts for someone special, wouldn't they?"

Mizu turned to you, her cheeks a slight shade of pink in embarrassment. She squeezed your hand, the corner of her mouth curling into a mischievous smirk. "Thank you, we'll take them." she said quickly, trying to distract herself from seller's suggestive comment.

She accepted the figurine gratefully, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of crimson. She managed to stammer out before turning to you, rolling her eyes playfully. "You're such a flirt." You giggled at her reaction. You knew very well that Mizu wasn't a big fan of being clingy in public so you decided to tease her a little and disturb her balance even more. "You're blushing so hard right now. You know?"

Mizu huffed lightly, trying to hide her amusement. She elbowed you lightly in the ribs as you continued to stroll through the market. "I'm not blushing." she lied, although it was clear from her flushed face that she was still embarrassed by their exchange with the seller.

"Yeah, of course not. You never blush." you said jokingly, just looking at her from time to time with large smirk on your face.

Mizu playfully punched your arm, but beneath her teasing exterior, there was a hint of happiness at being teased by you. She wrapped her arm around your waist, gently pushing you forward. "Alright, alright, enough with the teasing." she said, steering you towards another stall selling colorful handmade scarves and shawls.

*thanos looks at the side of her neck, in an attempt to flirt he says* Thanos: It knows your a flower, you got a bee craw-

*Mina looks in shock, the bee flies off too player 380, what the HELL?!*

*one person screams, then it's followed by a crowd of people screaming, one by one, the bullets fly off to their foreheads or chests, the only thing mina can hear is her rapid heart rate and her gasps, the shooting stops.*

*mina says to thanos, facing her eyes towards him* Mina: what..was that..is this a nightmare..?

*thanos looks at mina, thanos already knows mina is scared for her life, so is he. If that girl didn't die, then would mina..die?* Thanos: f**k..

doll: GREEN LIGHT!

*nobody moves a muscle, although mina is infront of thanos, she can hear thanos doing something, she doesn't know what exactly he's doing, but she hears him swallow something, she only hears a few steps come to the front, that crazy guy again.*

*everyone starts forming lines and mina notices thanos grab her hand, pushing her behind him, he did a little wink, even though people are literally dying, he's trying to flirt?! what's up with him?! Mina doesn't really have the need to crouch since thanos towers over her like a building*

*mina is still scared, sure thanos covers her, alot, but shes running out of breath, mina feels like that if she tries to let it out, she'll get shot.*

*on the other hand, thanos is calmed down, a bit too much, it's like a pop song that you can't help to dance too is going on in his head. He feels good, and somehow, with the thing he took, seeing blood soothes him*

Doll: RED LIGHT!

*thanos pushes three people smirking saying* thanos: tag! *the people get shot, huh? is he seriously trying to impress her, is he good? Mina is so confused, first of all, she awoke in a random place, full of other people, she wore a tracksuit, and bleh! That is not her color. Take some pictures, got a man that constantly flirts with her, and bloodshed, but, is her outfit more important, or random people dying.

Doll: GREEN LIGHT!

*everyone starts running for their lives, and thanos does a huge jump, is he high, or crazy or..you know what, whatever, they start running really fast and mina and thanos get to the finish line, mina pants as thanos starts jumping like crazy.*

Thanos: LETS GOO MOTHERF***ERS!

Mina: so that crazy dude was actually right..

*she looks up and sees thanos and nam-gyu hugging eachother really hyper*

and even if she does get a heavy period, she can handle it on most days

“Mizu, pleaseeee. Just one more episode?”, you plead. You guys had just finished the second to last episode of the show. Sure, you felt a little tired. But the thought of moving and crawling off of Mizu’s chest didn’t outweigh the comfort of the couch.

Mizu sighs.

“You always do this and then you end up falling asleep.”, Mizu states as she grabs the remote control.

“Not necessarily-“, you rebute. Technically, she wasn’t wrong with your history of falling asleep. But not this time.

“Mmhmm. Right…”, she responds, a little sass in her tone.

You pout. “Please. I promise, I’ll stay up.”

You place your warm cup of tea aside, allowing you to wrap your arms around Mizu’s neck. You feel the heat of her neck against your forearms.

“Besides, it’s the final episode.”, you smile. You look at Mizu for sign of defeat.

“Ok fineeee,” she clicks on the next episode button, “Stay awake now. I’m not summarizing it this time.”

You plant a kiss on her cheek, pulling her closer to your body. She places her mug next to yours and letting her arms wrap around your body. You feel the warmth of her hands press against your body, almost burning from the hot tea.

“I promise I won’t.”, you assure as you sit back against Mizu’s chest again. You feel Mizu’s arms relax and allow you to prep yourself before watching the finale.

Mizu smiles as she felt your body lay back on hers. Your weight alongside the blanket you’re sharing relaxes her. You feel her arms gently wrap around you again as you hear the intro to the episode play.

Her hands start to drag along your sides to your stomach. You feel her burning palm place itself on the top of your lower stomach. Its presence shared a similarity to a heat pad.

You hum in response. While her right hand is busy drawing attention to your lower stomach, you feel her other hand wrap around you and pull you closer. You feel her lips lightly graze your shoulder.

“Mizu, it feels good but-”, you say as her right hand starts to gently massage your stomach.

Fuck. That feels so nice.

You hold back a groan. “Not here, hon.”, you say as you nod your head towards Ringo’s bedroom door.

“I know, don’t worry.”, Mizu responds as she places a soft kiss near your neck. “I just want you to feel comfortable now. You’re on your period, right?”

You nod in response.

“So c’mere. I’ll keep you nice and warm.”

a break inbetween would be the pop the towel in the dryer

next break is swapping out the towel for the blanket

final break is bringing back the blanket right before u get into bed

its a strange strategy but it helps her stay focused and paces herself while synonymously taking care of u

modern!mizu would make sure she’s wrapping her arms around ur lower stomach when ur cuddling at night

the heating pad gets annoying to sleep with

especially if u tend to toss and turn at night

but having her hands warm u helps u relax at night

when ur trying to sleep, she’ll gently caress and massage ur stomach to help release any tension

at first, u thought it wouldnt have an effect on u

but the more she did it, the more relieved u felt at night

mizu would also feel relaxed knowing that u r relaxed as well

when she heard ur snores, she knows shes done a job well done

Ruggie knows that compared to everyone else on campus, he was the bottom of the barrel. He wasn’t a prince, an heir to a fortune, or even from a well-off family. Sure, his Grandma was a wonderful lady, maybe a bit strict growing up, but besides her and their home, Ruggie didn’t have much to offer. Maybe if you weren’t in such a bad spot, if you had a good family here, if you hadn’t been plucked from your world with nothing but the clothes on your back, he’d be happy to call you his own. 

But he can’t. How can he when you have people willing to drop thousands of thaumarks on you like it’s nothing. Literally! He was listening to Kalim run his mouth as he talked about renovating Ramshackle to your preference. 

“Oh! And we can get you quartz countertops! What kind of colors do you like, I can have it made to your favorite aesthetic! Ooh, what if we replaced all the appliances to match it? The kitchen back home has a gas stove built into the countertop, we can replace—”

“Uh, I’d need gas for that though, right?” You laughed, splayed across Ruggie as you two lay in your bed. Kalim was on video call with you, having gone back home for the weekend for some sort of event. You’d been complaining about one of your kitchen cabinets breaking and letting your few plates tumble out. Thank the Seven that they were plastic dishes. 

Kalim being, well, Kalim, immediately went into a tangent about adding in a gas line to your dorm and adding this and that. Everyone was acutely aware that Kalim, as generous and kind as he was, was especially sweet on you. There were even some rumors that he had a crush on you, something that made Ruggie feel ill. 

You just laughed off Kalim as he continued to whine about fixing up the dorm. You ended the call as you cheerfully told Kailm goodnight. 

“Do whatever you want Kalim, I won’t complain about free renovations! Good night, say bye Rugs.”

“Hmm? Oh, bye Kalim.” Ruggie gave Kalim a small smile and wave, who returned it with a beaming grin. 

After a few more words between you and Kalim, you finally ended the video call, tossing your phone to the night stand, and moving to straddle Ruggie’s hips. 

“What’s wrong?”

Ruggie blinked up at you in confusion. “What?”

“What’s wrong? Your ears are flat, they only go flat when you’re upset.” Ruggie whimpered as you leaned down to flutter kisses down his throat, shuddering as you pressed your teeth against his Adam's apple. 

“You wanna tell me what’s wrong? You jealous?” 

“Mmh, no I’m just—aaaAAAaaaAhH!” Ruggie yelped as you dug your teeth into the nape of his neck, suckling until you were satisfied with the bruising red mark forming on his skin. 

“Geez, give a guy a warning, won’t ya?” Ruggie let out a breathless chuckle, his chest rumbling as he purred from each kiss you pressed up your neck as you hovered over his lips. “You’re nothing but trouble, Puppy.”

“And yet, you love this trouble, don’t you?” The sound of your kissing, mixed with gasps and sighs from both of you echoed in the room.

“Now tell me,” Ruggie tried following your lips as you pulled away, but you kept him pinned to the bed. By now, you’d managed to throw his shirt across the room and traced your nails down Ruggie’s chest. “Why are you upset? Was it Kalim’s call? You know, he just likes to say hi sometimes.”

Ruggie pinned his ears flatter against his head, huffing as he looked to the side, though be traced his hands up and down your arms. 

“Nothin’, it’s just that Kalim sure likes to spoil ya. You know?”

You hummed, waiting for him to keep going. 

“I’m just saying, he’s really sweet on you. Maybe you should consider taking advantage and marrying the guy!” Ruggie laughed, though it sounded forced. 

He stopped as you clicked your tongue, leaning back down to bite at his cheek. 

“Hey! You know your teeth aren’t really sharp enough for that.” Ruggie chuckled as you stopped and pouted, looking up at him as you batted your eyelashes. 

“Hmph, it’s like you just wanna get rid of me.”

“That’s not what I meant—”

“That’s what it sounds like!” You argued, huffing into his neck as you pushed yourself against his chest and neck, like you were trying to mold yourself to him. “You always do this. If I didn’t want to be with you, I would’ve left already…”

Ruggie sighed, rubbing the skin between your shirt and bottoms with his thumbs. “I know, I know. I just think that you oughta take advantage. Kalim’s not the only one, and you’re all by yourself here! Get yourself a rich boyfriend, and you’re set for life!”

You suddenly grabbed the back of his head, pulling at his hair to make Ruggie expose his neck again. He whimpered at the rough touch, though his tail was wagging rapidly against the sheets. 

“And why would I do that?” His hand slid under your shirt and up your spine. He gently scratched your back as you shuddered into his touch. “When I have such a lovely boyfriend?”

Lips molded against each other, teeth clashed, and hips rolled as Ruggie, once again, failed to push you away. Instead, as he slipped your shirt off and moved to give you your own love bites and hickeys, Ruggie moved to bring your bodies closer together. Ruggie let himself lose himself in you once again, and would continue to do so. Again and again, until he found another half-hearted excuse. 

But for now? 

You pulled away again, breathless and flushed. “I just want to spoil my hardworking hyena, won’t you let your Puppy do that?” The down right heady tone in your voice, in that low, soft whine, made him hot in all the right places. Ruggie nodded, giving you the okay to wreck him. 

For now, he’ll indulge, shamelessly, in you. As long as you’ll continue to have him.

Kirby And The Forgotten 3rd Anniversary - Part 4 - Final (kind of)

im gonna leave it like this, i think its time it draws to a close, except not, i might post more to it, or i might not, like, open ended i think? i dunno i just dont think ill be able to finish so many rendered drawings for this, it gets a bit tiring. also i wanted to give them something happy because i almost never give elfilin a break, he can have another cake if he wants.

So yeah, i might continue, i might not, i might upload to this from time to time trough months or not idk.

also i remembered forgo's eyeliner and eyelashes, i dont tend to color those in most of the time since my forgo really only has like, 4 colors (excluding the eyes) so i feel it makes it a bit confusing when i color the lashes. tho the eyeliner that one i do forget a lot

also i realized i kept messing up the placement of the tag in their necks and writing this i just realized i forgot lo color it fuck.

uh, well, i kept placing elfilin's where forgo's usually goes and viceversa (they go on the side of their fucked up ear each)

so, thats it i guess! i still have lots to talk about this game, but first i must recharge!

games w. species euphoria

Ori and the Blind Forest - felinekin, maybe some kind of fae or angel kin too ori is very good little creature design and it moves around so fluidly but there's zero customization, if you vibe with ori it's great and if you don't, might not be for you. it's a puzzle platformer similar gameplay-wise to hollow knight (but not as difficult)

Hollow Knight - bugkin, ghostkin, voidkin difficult but very pretty and atmospheric. i've played some of it before getting stuck/being unable to progress because i'm not good at video game. hard platformer with boss fights.

Stray - robotkin, catkin this is one i've been meaning to play for ages (and haven't gotten around to pirating yet, cough) Stray is a 3d game set in a cyberpunk/sci fi world. You play as a tabby cat trying to find its way back to its home and it looks stunning. I assume the story is great, too.

Roblox Creatures of Sonaria - there are so many creature designs there you're bound to find something that's youcore their colors can be customized. It's a multiplayer survival game so it's more stressful than the other games on this list, you gotta be trying not to die the whole time

Animal Jam Classic / Animal Jam Play Wild - lots of real world animals you can dress up and change the colors and patterns of your animals. ajc is in 2d and ajpw is in 3d and has more animal options, but i find ajpw really confusing personally.

William and Sly/William and Sly 2 - foxkin old flash games available as a set on steam, a quest platformer where you run around a pretty forest environment as a red fox and find various things. the music is lovely, both games have a great atmosphere, played it a ton as kid on armor games. i dont think i ever even finished either game i just loved running around as sly (in the second game there are also little kitten-fairies that you can collect and that follow you around)

Postmouse - mousekin free on steam, 3d puzzle platformer where you're a mouse that delivers letters. it can get a little obtuse and confusing at times which is why i never finished it, but it's very charming and free to play! you run around all these huge and pretty environments as a fancy-dressed little mouse .

Lost Dream 1 and 2 - foxkin abstract/stylized/polygonal walking simulator where you play as a red fox. doesn't seem to be much story and the reviews are mixed because walking sims like this need to be like, your cup of tea.

Spyro Reignited - dragonkin of course had to mention such an OG dragon game. never played it but like, it's spyro. cartoony 3d platformer in a fantasy environment.

Oneshot - catkin pixel rpg where you play as a cat child and the gimmick is that you only have one life. the steam page tags it as story rich and having multiple endings/story choices you can make, and the graphics are beautiful, the whole game seems to be made of dark colors and poppy accents

You step into the base, sweat dripping down your forehead after an intense workout session. The familiar scent of camouflage and gunpowder fills the air, mingling with the faint aroma of something else entirely.

As you make your way through the corridors, you notice Soap and Gaz gathered near the kitchen island. Curiosity wins, you approach cautiously, only to find Soap himself standing there, holding a small poorly decorated box with your name in big bold letters.

You almost laugh out loud seeing Johnny’s confused face.

You step closer, trying to suppress the grin threatening to spread across your face. Soap's brows furrow as he examines the box in his hands, turning it this way and that, as if expecting some hidden treasure to appear.

Gaz looks up from his cup of coffee, his eyes widening as he spots you. "You smoke?!" he says, pointing at the box with a mix of amusement and disbelief.

You let out a chuckle, unable to contain yourself any longer. "Looks like you met Mary Jane." you say, feigning seriousness.

They both stare at you with eyebrows raised, not expecting you of all people to have a stash of weed on base. “Oh what the hell, wanna try?”

🍃Soap 🍃

- Coughs uncontrollably after his first inhale, much to you and the rest of the teams amusement. You pass him a glass of water, trying to hide your laughter as he gulps it down, desperately trying to regain his composure.

- Soap's appetite goes into overdrive, and I mean like he raids the kitchen like a man possessed. He devours snacks with an intensity you all have only seen from him on the battlefield, munching on everything from chips to cookies, all while you all watch in both terror and amusement.

- In a surprising turn of events, Bro will become incredibly philosophical, sharing deep and profound insights about life, the universe, and what disney princess he thinks is Ghost’s favorite.

- Will try to steal Ghost’s balaclava and then proceed to get smacked down WWE style

🍃Gaz 🍃

- Don’t let him out of your sights or he will start to wonder around base high off his rocker.

- You definitely have to show him how to properly inhale or he’ll somehow end up getting himself hurt.

- His normally stoic demeanor slowly starts to slip away, and he becomes increasingly giggly and carefree.

- Will stare at his hands in disbelief of his own existence

- “Woah mate…” As he stares at a pile of sticks on the ground

- Gaz's giggles become contagious, and soon all of you are laughing along with him, finding yourselves caught up in his infectious joy. Even the most Ghost can't help but crack a smile at his antics under his mask.

- You bring up the suggestion of using a bong and he almost passed out. Like fully the color drains from this poor man’s face.

- Soaps high ass is 1st and only one lined up to hit a bong. He’s a munch and gaz makes fun of him for it 💀

🍃Price🍃

- Price is an avid smoker. There probably hasn’t been a time you’ve seen him off duty where he doesn’t have a Cigar hanging out of his mouth.

- In all honesty he probably isn’t all too affected by the weed. At most it’s a little buzz

- Might make himself seem like it’s his first time smoking pot but has definitely done it before with Laswell on the lowkey

- Soap and Gaz will look at him in shock as to how he’s handling the effects so well so he’ll promptly let out a forced cough to make them feel better about their struggles 💀

- Will attempt to disguise his high if he does begin to feel the blunt doing it’s job correctly.

- Bro has academic RIZZ and trust he will be telling you about the history of weed.

- If be decides to completely let loose this man is 100% singing every word to an 80’s rock song and is forcing you to do karaoke with him.

🍃Ghost🍃

- Is not affected by the weed at all. At least not visibly…

- On the inside tho? Bro’s emotional hard drive is going HAYWIRE

- If he trusts you enough he has his mask rolled up with a blunt in his hand.

- If it’s just the two of you he’ll begin talking about random things, just rambling on and on. But if he’s around everyone else he’ll just stare ahead and let the buzz stay contained inside

- Will stare down at the ground, digging his heels into the dirt under his boots with tears threatening his eyes.

- Even he’s shocked how his emotions have a mind of their own once he starts smoking weed.

- I imagine him to get a sad/somber type of high :( bbg has been through it 😭

Graphics Tutorial

I've gotten asked a few times on discord how I make graphics (since I primarily share my works there), so this is a lil' tutorial post :p

╳  This is the way I make graphics. Others might do it differently and thats okay.

Here's what we'll make for the tutorial:

Okay so, I use ibisPaint X, and my canvas size is usually 1960x1340.

Theres many different ways you can "frame" your graphics (see my [The Herta] and [Acheron] graphics) but I usually use a divider on the top and bottom.

╳ You can find dividers under various tags on tumblr, and there are many Rentrys/Carrds with resources that have dividers (I LOVE the blogs [lavendergalactic], [selysie], [laylaplush], and [lucentmaiden], and the rentries [lavender-resources] and [border]).

Then, get your character render - Theres tumblr blogs and other social media accounts that do primarily make and post renders of characters (Like [hoyo-transparents] I LOVE THEM SO MUCH they are also where I got the Yanagi render from for this example), you can even look around online for renders by search, but sometimes you WILL have to erase and cut renders out yourself (I usually use the background removal tool, then I go in and erase the closer parts myself)).

╳  If your character has any accessories on their head that make it hard to fit them on the canvas, you can change the height or width dimensions of the canvas to have them pop out of it more (See my [Miku] and [Nicole Demara] graphics).

Now, duplicate the render and put the dupe under the dividers.

(Optional in some cases) - Hide the top render, and erase parts of the bottom render that are showing underneath the renders.

Go back to the top render and erase the lower part so the bottom divider appears to be in front of the render (As if it was a 3d space).

╳  If the render has (a) body part(s) going over the dividers that you'd like to keep, you can erase around it (See my [Agaela] and [Yae Miko] graphics).

Time to add background elements (if you want)!!! I usually add patterns(?) in the background (I also usually merge them and make them all the same color but you can do whatever you wish).

OR you can add pngs! Its the same way to find dividers I mentioned earlier, I love the ones [adjpngs], [suturical], and [pngblog] post, but I usually search up keywords like "flower png" on tumblr to find some.

╳  You can also get pngs off of Pinterest and remove the backgrounds either manually, through ibisPaint X's "Clear White" functions (Three dots on the lower right when in Layers tab), or through background remover websites (of which there are MANY).

╳  You can also put pngs over the render or on the dividers, they don't just have to be background elements.

OOOR you can mash them together (And thats what we'll be doing with our example graphic)!

Now… COLORING!!!!!! Move EVERY part of the graphic into the folder (make sure to keep every layer in the same place).

╳  You do not have to do this step, but I usually press "Add layer from folder", which mashes everything in the folder together in a NEW layer- so you have everything on one layer, but still have all your other layers in the folder. then, I hide the folder. I do this to keep things clean AND in case I want to change anything.

╳  This is also an optional step, but I usually use the "Grayscale" filter on our "almost-finished-product". Some colors might clash or not work with the filters and colors I'm trying to use, so I grayscale it all so I dont have to deal with that. BUT, you can absolutely keep things in color and still be able to work with it (See my [Mulani] graphic)!

Now, we want COLOR! there are many ways to do this, but I usually use the Overlay/Lighten/Screen blending modes.

╳  There is a Gradient Map filter in ibisPaint X but I don't use it since I don't have premium. I've heard of a few websites (Including Photopea) having gradient maps and whatever else, but they're confusing for me to use so I don't know how to use them- theres probably tutorials out there for those programs though. Photoshop probably also has a gradient map but I don't actually know I don't have it.

╳  Theres also some users out there who make color combos for ibisPaint X that you can use (I don't have any recommendations though)!

You'll definitely want to explore and mess with colors to see what you want.

Now, textures. OOO DO I LOVE TEXTURES. Usually I use textures through overlays, but ibisPaint X has an ENTIRE PAGE dedicated to patterns, textures, and presets. I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS FUNCTION!!!

I usually use the paper/old paper textures when I use ibisPaint X's materials, but you can scroll around and use what you find!

╳  An optional step I do is duplicate the grayscaled layer, blur it, and make it a clipping layer- then adjust the opacity to my liking. It makes the graphic look a little fuzzy and I love it.

I ended up with this:

(I also realized midway at this point that I did not color the background patterns so I went and did that)

Last step is to add your watermark. I HIGHLY. HIIIIGHLY recommend watermarking your works, because there are snatchers everywhere on the internet. Too many times I have seen people steal other peoples stuff. You do not have to watermark your stuff, but its probably recommended by every version of artist there is on our Earth. Plus, people will probably want to know who made the work! I add my watermark by putting the grayscaled layer in a folder, making a new layer IN the folder, and putting my watermark in there- somewhere on the graphic. This makes it so both the watermark and the graphic are affected by the clipping layers (But you can always merge the watermark and graphic together. I usually don't incase I want to move the watermark elsewhere).

Then, we have our finished product!

Two small presents pop into existence from nowhere. One present was colored blue, and the other was colored black wrapped with a red ribbon, making it obvious which present belongs to who. The tags on the gifts say these are from Silver.

In Sonic's present, there were five chili dogs.

In Shadow's present, there was a bag of chocolate coated coffee beans.

Both of their gifts contained a note from Silver. His handwriting... wasn't exactly the best, but it's still readable.

Sonic's note read: "Some chili dogs from the future! One of them is a "chilly" dog, a specialty chili dog from Holoska! Merry Christmas, Sonic! - Silver"

Shadow's note read: "I thought you could sweeten up your bitter palette a little bit. Merry Christmas, Shadow! - Silver"

// Of course I dont mind! I was kinda hoping for something like this too! the lore thing with my s/o takes place before christmas day/eve anyway so this is perfect :D // The day was a cold winter day. one of those kinds of cold winter snowy days that kept Sonic from being allowed to run in the snow. even if he could just pile drive through the snow, that'd require having to be able to exactly leave.. which uh.. wasn't the case with eight feet of snow covering the door. so Sonic and Shadow were spending their christmas together, even if Shadow didn't seem the most enthusiastic about the season.

The two Hedgehogs were cuddled up on the couch, mainly just talking between theirselves with Sonic cuddled up against Shadow's chest fur and overall not seeming as worried about being stuck at home as you'd think. Both of the hedgehogs however seem to immediately notice the Presents that suddenly appear, especially since the two landed with polite little thuds on the coffee table infront of the couch. Shadow seemed Skeptical, but his Expression relaxed when Sonic sat up and pulled the Presents closer for them to see.

Shadow only sits upwards, making sure the blanket they shared was still wrapped over both of their backs, when Sonic begins to atleast read the note on the present marked for him while gently pushing the other one closer to Shadow.

' ' Oh Sick! Chili dogs from the FUTURE! They could only get better! ' '

' ' Who are they from? ' '

' ' Silver of course! I'm- actually surprised he can send stuff from the future.. but hey! I'm not gonna complain. ' '

' ' Are you sure this wont affect anything--? ' '

' ' Noooooo.. but I'm sure he tested that out somewhere else first before he uh- risked that. I atleast hope so. ' '

Shadow merely gives a low grumble at that, furrowing his brows in natural suspicion as Sonic seems to take a double take at the writing before chuckles while pulling the Present into his lap.

' ' What's funny, Hedgehog? ' '

' ' Silver says these are make from the Holoska in his future! a specialty chilidog of his. I remember him actually, he gave me something similar when I helped him out with a couple problems. during my werehog year I think? it's been awhile ago, but to know he's still making these even in the future is great! I'm gonna find a way to give Silver some presents, one way or another. ' '

' ' I'll help. ' '

Sonic gave a confused sound at that, though as he turns his head to look towards the dark hedgehog, he sees that he too had taken the other present when realizing it was directed to him. Sonic softly grins as he watches Shadow open up the present and pull out the chocolate coated coffee beans, already taking a handful.

' ' Is that a smileee? ' '

Shadow's smile drops and he immediately narrows his eyes, turning his back to the hedgehog as if he was defending the sweets for his life. lightheartedly, of course.

' ' Relax! I'm not gonna steal your snack! not this time.. what are they? chocolate? ' '

' ' Chocolate covered coffee beans and no, you may not have one. ' '

' ' love ya too shads. ' '

Sonic chuckles. he properly opens up his present and takes one of the chilly dogs out, leaning against Shadow's back as he enjoyed the lovely snowy evening with the gifts they were given By Silver.
