"I mean, linking everything and everyone together isn't just crucial it's logical."
Tad's throwaway line to Molly at the end of Simplicity (s1e6) would have been super important if the original season 3 had happened.
According to Jon Cooksey:

Linking everything and everyone together, crucial indeed.

So Weird - The Death of Tad Raxall If the show had continued as originally intended, computer genius Tad Raxall would have possibly died. In the original plans for season three shared by executive producer Jon Cooksey, Tad would have helped Fi develop a universal network that could be used to communicate with other planets and learn about what was going on in the spirit world. In the episode in which he would have appeared, Tad also possibly would have met his end. The notes state that it would have been "a heroic death, made possible by finally shifting his thinking and accepting possibilities outside of science and logic."

Tad Raxall in Lost
In Lost (s1e12) Fi uses a program called Townbuilder to map Kamilah's path home. Above the right icons is *.* software inc.
Tumblr media
Strange Geometry isn't until season 2, but according to its script Molly's "She Sells" music video featured Star Dot Star products.
Tumblr media
Universal Gateway is a web browser. Most times the name is visible at the bottom of Fi's screen with *.* software inc. (barely visible) on the bottom left side depending on how the scene is shot.
Tumblr media
Jon Weisman's detail of "Universal Gateway II" implies an upgraded version of, you know, an original Universal Gateway.
Who knows? Maybe that was part of the new software Tad gave Fi a voucher for in Simplicity (s1e6). Townbuilder/TownBuilder could have also been included in that.
Tumblr media
Molly and John's dialogue remained in the final version of Strange Geometry, but the closest we get to Molly having make-up done is when she leaves a room to walk to set.
Tumblr media
Despite no Star Dot Star products in sight, Molly dressed like a Zenon character could be a nod to it.
Tad's products not only help Fi connect with others (Universal Gateway, In Box) and research (Star Dot Seek), his Townbuilder game becomes a tool to help the Simmonds family.
Tumblr media
(Once you spot *.* in the corners of her laptop you can't unsee it. This shot is from Avatar.)
Tumblr media
(From the Will o' the Wisp episode.)
It's a neat way to keep Tad relevant in So Weird episodes and set up his role for (the planned and cut) season 3 when Fi would have needed him to help her save the universe.

Random Details from So Weird’s Lost (s1e12)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyla Pratt's appearance in So Weird was a rare instance when the guest star didn't share the screen with any cast member.
Tumblr media
While Ned works on the bus, there's a split second of Clu and Jack playing hacky sack.
Tumblr media
In Angel we heard that Irene and Ned were in the bunks (that Jack and Clu use), and now Molly is in Fi's bed. Apparently the kids are the only ones with rooms on the bus!
Tumblr media
Fi's inbox is surprisingly neat compared to other times we see it. Note the *.* email on the top left and Universal Gateway across the bottom. Star Dot Star software is the brainchild of Tad Raxall.
Tumblr media
This is the second episode in a row without Irene, and after this scene Ned doesn't appear again until the next episode.
Tumblr media
Return to Snowy River is Kamilah's favorite movie.
Tumblr media
Guest stars Candus Churchill and Dionne Warwick played Kamilah's mom and aunt. They shared the screen with an unidentified older actress as Kamilah, but they didn't share scenes with Kyla Pratt.
Tumblr media
Bill is part of the reason Fi connected to Kamilah, but let's not give him much credit beyond that for saving her.
Tumblr media
One of the few times we see Kamilah happy is when she speaks of her favorite baseball player, her dad.

La Vida Siesta (ii)
Remember when Siesta Taco appeared in the Strangeling and Simplicity episodes of season one?
According to an early draft of Strange Geometry, it would have been referenced again:
Tumblr media
Siesta Taco would have been part of the She Sells music video as a nod (along with Star.Dot.Star) to one of the jingles Molly wrote in her post-PKB and pre-solo career.
Tumblr media
What do we think, Weirdos? Does Molly’s unheard and never-known-until-now jingle for Siesta Taco count as canon even if it was cut from the final product?
We know Fi received free software from Tad (like in OOPA). I wonder if the family got Siesta discounts. 🤔

More from Jon Cooksey’s rewatch: he reminisced about the Tad Raxall/alien arc that was never completed. (x)
You can read more about that arc and other original s3 ideas in our FAQ.

Tad Raxall actor, Garwin Sanford, appeared in two episodes of Supernatural as two different characters.
In episode “Folsom Prison Blues” he was Deacon. Four years later he was Jim Michaels in the episode “The French Mistake”.
Thanks, Tabz!

“Almost all Disney movies have a dead parent in them, but they don’t really deal with that. Our show did.”
The Look Back Machine’s most recent podcast episode covered So Weird! The host interviewed creator Tom J. Astle and showrunner Jon Cooksey about the production of the series.
In less than an hour they cover casting Cara Delizia, future-proofing the internet usage, the original title, coming up with “So Weird”, and John Pozer working with dogs in Shelter.
Of course they discussed season 3. In talking about the original plans they shared what drew them to bring Tad Raxall back. And when it came to deciding how to change the original plans, they shared why they didn’t go forward with passing the story to Jack.
Towards the end we’re given a treat of hearing Jon Cooksey sing.
